Look for the application "wazzap migrator". Its expensive but it worked for my girlfriend when she went from an old iPhone 5s to the Galaxy S7 2 years ago !

You can also transfer your WhatsApp messages by using WazzapMigrator (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nbeghin.whatsappmigrator&hl=en). I used this method when I switched from an iPhone 5S to OnePlus 3.
I've made some additional comments in the past about going from iPhone to Android here:
Hope this helps!
There is no easy way to do this at all. Take a look at the following app from Google Play Store I had to use it years ago.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nbeghin.whatsappmigrator
Seconded. This is the only reliable way to do it, it does work, but it's not as simple as just installing the app. Watch the video linked in the read more section on the play store, and it goes without saying, only do it if you are ok sharing all your messages with a 3rd party app because in this process your WhatsApp messages are not encrypted.
I was in the same situation as you switching earlier this month when I got note 8..after trying literally everything found an app called 'wazzap migrator'. Worked like a charm and got all media and chat files. Remember to create .no data in WhatsApp otherwise everything gets saved in gallery

When i had to to it the other way around for my wife i couldn't find a solution.. maybe this (paid) app will help? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nbeghin.whatsappmigrator&utm_source=officialsite&utm_campaign=homepage&pcampaignid=MKT-Other-global-all-co-prtnr-py-PartBadge-Mar2515-1
I don't think they're the same, but I'm basing that off of knowledge of Whatsapp's database on Android vs iOS.
Obviously if the server has to convert the database, that means they have to read it (unencrypted), which is a huge no no and defeats the entire purpose of Signal.
I mean, it's generally accepted by WhatsApp users that if you switch platforms, your chats are gone. The only solution, at least if you're going from iOS to Android, is to use an app like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nbeghin.whatsappmigrator
Obviously unless the solution is totally open source, it's not going to be safe. I'd settle on a similar Android to Android mechanism to the one they just added to iOS, though. That would be enough for most people, I think. Right now, Android's backup option is off by default (which is fine), and requires you to save the key somewhere safe (also fine). But in order to restore the backup, you have to dig into your device's file system and then copy it to the equivalent folder on the new device manually. That's not terribly difficult, but it's not user friendly either.
Most people that I know who are downloading Signal right now are doing it because it's in the news and their tech friends like me are telling them to. Not because they know tech like we do.
There's actually a way to do that. It's called Wazzap Migrator. It's not for free but it successfully converted almost 200,000 messages for me. I came from an iPhone 6 running iOS 9.1.
You'll find a how to on the developers website, it's even possible to migrate all your media (pictures, videos and so on) to your Android phone. It will take a while though. For me it was worth the money and time.

For anyone looking for third party methods I have tried these and they work:
Both of these are paid and work by taking a local backup and converting them respectively before transferring to the new device. They are no way official but just what I found by trial and error.
Whatsapp is working on bringing native functionality for cross platform migration albeit slowly and it took way longer than it should have for them to start on it. Right now it is limited to only some devices, so we are stuck with closed source third party solutions.
This app can do it. I tried it and it works. If you don't want to spend on the app, there are few freeware programs which can accomplish it, but you'll have to spend quite some time on testing them.
I used a different app from the same Dev to transfer my chats from windows phone to Android, this one should work fine too
>Step 4: Download and Install ‘WazzapMigrator‘ app on your android device. It’s a paid app which cost you around $7 and you need to buy it because there’s no working solution currently other than this.
Too bad 😫
I used WazzapMigrator in 2016 (so yes quite sometime ago). Worked great! Only the text that got sent together with an image (as a description if you will) got lost. Still seems to be getting high ratings on the Play Store.
I only owned the Note 9 for about 1 hour and came from the iPhone 7+, so it's just been a giant upgrade for me, really. I don't regret it at all. The XSMax is a beast.
If you're referring to WhatsApp convos, it is possible to move them over, but it's a bit of a process. It requires a PC with iTunes, a non-encrypted backup of your iPhone, a program to extract the WhatsApp backup out of the iPhone backup, and a $6.99 Android app called WazzapMigrator. I had access to none of these things in the store, and I'd already completed the Jump exchange so I couldn't take my old iPhone home to do the transfer. I was stuck with the decision of possibly losing everything or sticking with iOS.

I'm not in a situation where the dollar cost of jumping eco systems is a concern, but losing all of my iMessage and WhatsApp conversations was a bridge too far.
> you can't restore an Android backup on an iPhone or viceversa
You can do it with this app between iOS and Android, there's also a version for migrating between Windows Phone and Android. It's a little bit tricky and you have to follow the website instructions but works 100%, it did for me when I switched.
Made the switch from 6 Plus to 2XL one week ago, transfered the chats with Wazzap Migrator, you just need to follow the instructions and you'll get back all your chats and media. If you don't care to loose your recent conversations you are on time to do it
/u/Rivro read this if you are interested in migrate your chats
If you are buying it, then Migrate the Chatdata and then delete it immidiatly, you might even get your Money back
WhatsApp's chats are not in cloud! You must always backup them before switching phones on Google Drive or iCloud, but you cannot restore your chats on a different system... officially.
More informations here (Android) and here (iOS).
If you want to transfer your chats from iOS to Android you must use a paid application called WazzapMigrator.
We ended up going with wazzapmigrator
I did this with WazzapMigrator, available in the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nbeghin.whatsappmigrator
Officially no but there is an Android app called WhatsMigrator that can do it (the app is not free )
I'm in a similar boat as you. Hopefully I get my phone Friday. Your GS7 will come with an adapter http://i.imgur.com/Xhw9j0U.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMh5TYyz0yI
The Video I included is from Android to Android, but it's essentially the same setup process.
This will be the best way to migrate. You get prompts as to what you want to transfer over etc. If you do a switch over Wifi using your iCloud backup which is an option it won't be able to transfer as much. I'm not sure the exact difference, but from what I read cable transfer is the most thorough option.
In regards to whatsapp I've done some researching and there are apps on the Google Play store that will allow you to transfer by extracting the whatsapp backup from your iPhone backup. You will have to pay for them. I didn't see any on the Google play store with good ratings that are free.
I think that the whatsapp chat is archived on iCloud but it is hidden and you won't be able to pull it from the iCloud website.

But it costs money
I used this app when I made the switch to Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nbeghin.whatsappmigrator
The migration is not straightforward.
