John Baizley IT'S ALL SO BEAUTIFUL
Turns out I was wrong about the friend part, which I read on SongFacts.com here: http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=2535 where there were no sources.
A Google search led me to this article in Billboard Magazine Sept. 11th, 1999: https://books.google.ca/books?id=oggEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PT102&lpg=PT102&dq=a+boy+and+his+machine+gun+mental+institution&source=bl&ots=1MHKipecI0&sig=8e7tNZsJH29wI5nl0nge3VaJ2Dc&hl=en&sa=X&ei=hveUVa22Js7ioASioqDAAg&...
Here Matthew was quoted as having been inspired by the film One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest.
AllMusic review // Discogs link - not my submission
I wonder if I'm the only one in the US with a copy of this album. I don't remember where, but I heard the song 'Dreckstück' from this album when I was in middle school, and I was hooked. For a long time, this was my 'holy grail' CD. I finally saw one copy available on Amazon through a private seller about 2-4 years ago, and sent the link to my girlfriend at the time (fiancée now!) to show her. I had talked to her about it before, and wanted to show her what I was talking about. It went offline soon after, and I found out she ended up buying it for me! I love this whole album, but my favorite songs are 'Eine Kugel reicht,' 'Dreckstück,' 'Outro,' and 'Berlin.'
Truly. I haven't spun it enough lately, as I enjoy the variety explored in his albums; but this EP does it for the best overall "Flying Lotus sound".
Have you ever seen the Tea Leaf Dancers video?
This record is from 1973, Japanese only release.
Fun Fact, this composer also did the music for Dragon Ball Z some 20 years later.
Full album, from Mexican Summer.

Designed by the amazingly talented Jeff Finley. He's the drummer of the band (/u/mylkhead).

This is probably my favorite album from one of Vektroid's many aliases. It reminds me a bit of Oneohtrix Point Never in that the album creates dreamy and open atmospheres with it's instrumentation. I feel like a child wandering alone in an abandoned city/jungle hybrid.
Favorite tracks:
花こう岩Cosmorama
移住
新たな夢Spirited Child (Color Ocean Sky)

Yeah, might not be from the album. It'a all I could find on the web with a quick search. This album is on Discogs, in vinyl and CD form. Not sure if you want to hear it that bad. lol.
Apparently it's on Amazon Streaming if you got that.
It's a unique cover that definitely drew mixed reactions when people first saw it, but I think it grew on people over time. It's a classic pop punk album from one of the staples of the genre.
