I have no affiliation with the brand nor Amazon, btw.
These brushes are fantastic! I've tried a few silicone brushes and none have worked as efficiently. You can even dual wield them if you have a large surface to work with, as I did on the floors.
That being said, this carpet was a pleasure to work with. Last few cars I've done interior jobs on had impossible carpet. The Lilly brush made far quicker work of the hair on this Mercedes carpet than the average carpets I've had experience with.

Here’s the link on amazon. No sanding required, and the gel substance acts as a polisher! Takes 5-10 min per headlight max. Super friendly to use and it works amazing.
The main goal of a touchless pre wash is to remove as much foreign contaminant as possible as to not scratch the paint once you begin the hand washing stage. A soap attachment creates thick suds which ideally encapsulate dirt and debris and drag it off of the car without scratching the paint thus reducing swirls and scratches once you get to the hand washing phase. One thing I will say is that cheap foam lances as opposed to an expensive one there isn’t much of a difference if any at all.

Buy a hose bibb water meter for $15 and after a few weeks, when you wash again, take a photo of the meter's reading and reply back to the thread with a photo and offer to pay for the 40 gallons of water you would have used in a month. Either look up the rates they pay or your city's normal rate. My city's multifamily residential rate is $6.01/100 cu ft. 100 cu ft. is 748 gallons. This would be $0.008035/gal. 40 gallons (what you'd have used to wash a car a few times per month more than likely) would cost $0.3214. Go ahead and give them 33 pennies just so they don't quibble over the 14 hundredths of a penny.
You can buy the foamer here : http://www.mscworks.com/product_p/f1.5l.htm for $45. It seems like the same one Larry has. Also it is $60 on Amazon Foam Power 1.5Lx10 Pump Up Foam Unit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XC8N4QB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_f1MXAb28DCWVR
What's the difference between this and the knockoff scangrip I got for $50 on amazon? I can still find swirls and paint correct. I do all my work in my apartment outdoor parking lot in the shade.
I've gotten to using this: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Honda-08798-9013-Silicone-Grease/dp/B00GD49GTS
Apply with terry cloth rag and wait a few, and wipe off. I have yet to replace any seals, including on a 2 decade old VW that's been parked outside in California sun.
chamois suck.... there's something better and it's called a waffle weave microfiber towel... microfiber towels are already absorbant, but when woven into a waffle weave pattern, it's ULTRA ABSORBANT and SOFT!!!!!!!!!!! Your paint will love you, as microfiber is soft. chamois are not soft and will add micro-marring and swirls to your paint. Use a waffle weave microfiber towel.
I like Adam's waffle weave microfiber towel.. others here on reddit like The Rag Company's waffle weave

This is the license plate holder I use. I bought it to reduce the vibrations my plate felt from my subwoofer.
I recommend Stoner's Invisible Glass. I use it on all my cars and even on the windows in my house. Great product
Fellow guitar player and detailer here. Found this tool last Christmas and highly recommend it.
Same, it does a great job, and also works for cleaning the deck of my riding mower. I got mine much cheaper at Amazon, by the way.
That would be the Bissell Little Green Portable.
Great little extractor for the price.
Mind you it's no Mytee, but it works great if you're a hobbyist or just getting into detailing! Used mine for years before I upgraded.

Heres what you need.
An extension hose, attaches to the existing one. https://www.amazon.com/Sun-Joe-SPX-25HD-Universal-Heavy-Duty/dp/B01MRRZJBZ/
And a swivel joint, keeps the hose from kinking. Put one of these on the gun.

Not a stupid question, windshield cleaning is an art. I use this "reach and clean" tool and it works pretty well. I typically scrub the glass with the removable microfiber it comes with, then do a final wipedown by putting a standard glass microfiber on top of it for the last pass.
Just some generic detailing swabs dude, something like this;

Don’t use very many chemical guys products myself, but that stuff is so good!
A few months back I read on here that after a bunch of testing this was the best vacuum for detailing. I’ve had it saved in my Amazon cart since. Super strong and yet small: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074BR5RV9/

Not OP, but I love Stoner’s “Invisible Glass” glass cleaner. Ive used it for years. It’s cheap, easy to use, and works very well. I recommend getting the foaming version in the tall aerosol can, as it’s worked better for me than the sprayable version in the past and lasts longer I believe.
Here’s a link for it on Amazon.
Be careful about which seller you buy it from if you use the Amazon link, most of the bad reviews mention broken or missing bottles so one of the sellers is selling damaged product (not Stoner’s fault, just bad inventorying).
You can also find it at Walmart or AutoZone if you’re in the U.S.A, or your local auto parts store if you’re not.
Simple foam cannon from Amazon
If you think $15 bucket is better than a $2 home depot bucket, then it will be only because you have to justify for spending the extra money.
A lot of times in the detailing business if the seller believes in the price so will the consumer.
I don't know how unique it is given that it is a purpose-made product, but I removed some pretty heavy red wine stains using Wine Away once. It isn't really a detailing product that you can get from the normal suppliers (I actually got some at Total Wine), but it works amazingly well. It's pricey (especially at brick and motor stores) and I totally thought it was a gimmick, but it saved my butt.
This is my 2003 BMW 530i, I recently attempted to restore the headlights using this kit. I did accidentally mess up when applying the clear coat on the left lens and now there are some ridges where it went on unevenly but overall it is a drastic improvement from the hazed yellow that they have been. For $20 I would say the kit is definitely worth trying, it took me about an hour and a half to finish both lights and is pretty straightforward. If I were to do it again I would probably just buy the sandpaper myself and only buy their UV block kit and save a few bucks

I just found Shop Towels specifically for glass cleaning in the Walmart car washing aisle the other day. These things are incredible. They have way less lint than normal shop towels, which I already agree are great for glass and are what I used before I found these glass cleaning ones.
Here's a link to see what the packaging looks like: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Scott-Glass-Towels-1-Pack/19801048 They are a lighter shade of blue than regular shop towels.

(Wish I just found it online--a bit cheaper on Amazon)
I was very skeptical of this working, but it provided good results. Some people recommend a razer blade held perpendicular to the glass to scrape off whatever is on there, but I read about that later so didn't get to try that method out myself. Good luck!

First thing I suggest: How to Start a Home-based Car Detailing Business by Renny Doyle.
Second thing: Detailing vehicles is one thing, running a business is another. If you just want to do it for some side money, you'll want to get a small portfolio. This usually means friends/family, take lots of pictures, work for free or dirt cheap on these. Don't work for free or dirt cheap for long. You'll either end up with the worst customers or honestly no business because the price isn't credible. After that, under promise and over deliver. Find a small thing to do with each detail the customer will NOTICE(key) and don't charge them for it. Website, license, insurance, facebook page, etc. There is a ton more but you should seriously read above book first. Detailing is one thing, running a detailing business is another.

Latex or nitrile glove is good to pull up strays that don’t come out with the brush.
My first post here, hope it is allowed. I had been holding off purchasing some Chemical Guys hex pads and then yesterday I noticed two of the ones I wanted were down in price. $5.60 for the 5.5" orange and 5.5" white pad. According to CamelCamelCamel, these are or are pretty close to record lows on Amazon.
I've only owned a single foam cannon and that's the MTM Hydro Professional. This one has a smaller orifice specifically meant to be used with electric pressure washers that don't output the same water as gas pressure washers.
When I was researching foam cannons, I noticed the community was split on cheap <$20 foam cannons (the ones that pop up on Amazon by searching for "foam cannon"), and by higher end >$50 foam cannons like the MTM I have.
A lot of people were saying the cheaper ones performed just as well as the expensive ones, and a lot of people said they didn't. One thing I knew for sure from watching take-apart videos, was that the internal construction for more expensive foam cannons was a lot better than the cheaper ones. I figured if I was going to be using this in a business setting, I should opt for the more expensive one ensuring I get the better quality.
I’m not sure if the rag company sells them on amazon as I got them direct from them but their black diamond towel is awesome.
Edit: heres a link
Astro 400e is the most common eraser wheel I sell at work (bodyshop wholesale supply). $11 on Amazon but you need the $5 arbor with it.
It’s a synthetic clay.

They do have a whole mitt version too. But I’ve found for sedans this is good enough
The nozzle has a knob around it that controls the fan.
I would suggest adding this tip and screen to your foam cannon. The pressure washer is not very powerful nor has enough water output to get the froth your looking for. This piece added will make it like shaving cream. You need to rinse it out after use of your going to store it.

I highly suggest American Detail Garage F-bomb. It is a very versatile soap and a fantastic Pre-wash at 1:10 ratio. Check out all the uses it has, this paired with Wipeout and you can rinseless wash, do your wheels, engine, interior, leather, and just about anything else to clean your vehicle.

FYI VW Specifically recommends this 3M Product for use on their V-Tex leatherette. I’ve been using it in my wife’s MK7 Golf with tan leatherette. Seems to work fine.

They also recommend it for use on the dash and door cards, though I wouldn’t personally do that.
The power of buzz words. You can even get a "ceramic" tire shine if you fancy it.
ONR!!!! I'm a recent convert.
.....for the uneducated heathens (jk!) it's Optimum No-Rinse wash and shine, check it out on Amazon - Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine - 32 oz. - NR2010Q . Dilution is 1:256 or 1oz for 2gal of water. I bought the ONR wash and wax (contains carnuba) as folks noted it left a better shine.
Smells great, very little water needed, and I saw a ton of mobile detailers who gushed about how good it is so I decided to jump in.
Also, it smells so nice (bubble gum for my rinse and wax version)!!
I use this Bissell one and it's done a great job so far. However, I only detail cars on the side and only about a third of all cars I detail require the use of this machine, so I use it about twice a month or so.
I use the pet rock or something like that. Works amazing. I was worried it would damage the material, but it doesn't and works amazing to get the pet hair up.

Recently bought this Zwipes 2 pack on Amazon and have been happy with them. If you use a price tracker add on like Honey you can see they usually run for $9.99 but have spiked up recently.
I had the same issue when working on my black VW as well. Once I switched to these cutting pads I noticed a large difference. Even aggressive foam pads weren’t doing the trick with the 105/205. Make sure to clay and decon before use to make sure any waxes/sealants are removed.

I would get a foam cannon on Amazon, preferably the wide mouth style:

Yes. Ive been using it quite a while now and I never ran out of charge. The biggest car I own is a midsize SUV. I also have a backup cheapo pressure washer that I can use just in case. I dont recommend the cheapo pressure washer alone though. While it works well, its very leaky and the water pressure is not that good (still decent enough to be able to wash a car). I used to only have that but decided to buy the Sun Joe and couldnt be happier.

Little prongs stick out and grab the piece if you can see if. If you can't see it at all, then good luck :)
What if the brush basically has a microfiber cloth on it but on a stick like this? Still bad?
They have different sizes and whatnot and is pretty safe around plastics compared to a stone tool that is basically a giant pumice stone that you never want to use around plastics or trim.
I haven't found anything better then this yet. Smell is comparable to a urinal hockey puck but the product is top notch. It leaves a nice, clean, non greasy finish.

I have a few questions on ONR:
1.) Can I use regular tap water?
2.) What about the wax ONR stuff, is that any good? https://www.amazon.com/Optimum-NRWW2012Q-Rinse-Wash-Wax/dp/B00GG9FB8U/ But it seems like most people prefer the blue stuff?
3.) Does the ratio of ONR matter much ? Does it mess it up if I over-dose my ONR ?
4.) Can I use ONR on glass and everything?
Get a phone tripod. They are smaller and more versatile compared to a camera tripod.
This is the one I have. It does it’s job very well overall, I don’t really have any complaints with it. I use it pretty often and it’s pretty compact/mobile which is nice.

I think logically it will be susceptible to UV damage on interior of the lense. Headlights that still have a yellowish hue to them, even after restoration, are damaged on the inside. I don't see this too often so you should be fine. When the initial clear coat is gone. You have nothing left. You wont necessarily damage it more. But the yellowish fog will slowly introduce itself until you use a clearcoat.
Restore your headlights. Then use a clear coat after.
Ratchets and Wretches did a 3 year test and the 2K Clear Coat has the best result.
I go to swap meets here in SoCal and find these Meguiars Clay Bar Kits all the time. I usually pay $5-$8 depending on the vendor. Right now on Amazon its CHEAP for $13.58. The lowest price since 2011 on Amazon according to CCC. There are two clay bars in each package. I use a nanoskin sponge but have these laying around and buy them any chance I get. They are always brand new and never used. They normally have some sort of return labels taped to them so I am not sure where they come from. I've never asked. You can also look into buying in bulk from ali express from china.
I got a gallon of Nanoskin Multi Clean All Purpose Cleaner a few weeks ago and love it. I used it on an interior and it did just as good if not better then Megs D101. I won't stop using Megs D101 but will also continue to buy Nanoskin APC. It goes in and out of stock on Amazon. I just ordered the Nanoskin Grease Free Power Cleaner and Degreaser to try out. I haven't tried a Nanoskin product that I didn't like. The only items I really use from Chemical Guys still is the VRP dressing, Citrus wash and gloss Soap, Mr. Pink, and of course the Stripper Scent air freshener.
EDIT: read the reviews for the nanoskin APC on amazon. I left a review on there with a couple pics the day I got it.
I can't help you with the CG stuff, but I did a bit of research and ultimately bough the Trinova stuff and have been pretty impressed with it. Plus, there is an Amazon coupon for buying them both together. Disclaimer: I'm a filthy casual - not a professional detailer.
I used the cleaner first with a boars hair brush: https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Cleaner-Furniture-Handbags-Microfiber/dp/B00JIIZCM6/
And then used the pad it came with to buff the conditioner in: https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Nova-Conditioner-Restorer-oz/dp/B00HWIZO6I/
Let it sit for the night and soak in. It came out great.
> I saw "Meguiar's M21 Mirror Glaze Synthetic Sealant 2.0" on amazon. Is that what you bought?
M21 will stain or damage black plastic or trim. I think the person was talking about https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G36516-Paint-Protectant-oz/dp/B00P9OEZR6
i usually find products at auto stores to be really expensive. If you buy in bulk or concentrated sizes, like meguiars gallon sized products, they're far more cost effective. I use amazon to buy all my supplies, everything from microfibers to waxes are just way cheaper. Getting all the detailing supplies the first time is expensive, but they last a long time, one bottle of wax has lasted me for two years or longer. Some things are definitely worth buying in concentrate the first time around if you can afford it, like detail spray/clay lube: https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-D15501-Touch-Spray-Detailer/dp/B0006SH4NC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496487884&sr=8-1&keywords=meguiars+d155
that will make two whole gallons of quick detailing spray for $24, as opposed to $6 for a small bottle at a store.
Yup, Ultimate Polish will work just fine, but if you're going off Amazon anyway I'd go with M205. It's basically the pro version of UP and has slightly more cut but finishes extremely well.
And yeah, you'll need to rewax after, but make sure you're using an IPA spray first to remove the oils so it bonds well! Which Youtube video watch before, btw?
I'm a fan of the Wonder Wafer brand, especially the leather. You can pick up a huge quantity of them on eBay individually wrapped for pretty cheap.
Get a set of wheel woolies. I have these. They are like $35 and worth every penny. Amazon shows them more expensive now, so keep an eye out for the price to drop. Or look for other brands. They last a long time if you care for them.
Amazon I don't have much experience but I think that it does the job. I haven't had any issues on the two projects I've used it on, so I think it's a safe bet.
Just reading this, you'd be good to start off with the Renny Doyle book. You seem like you're lacking direction/foundation level knowledge of running a business(pretty common really) and this is going to give you a decent direction. You can get the ebook on Amazon for pretty cheap. https://smile.amazon.com/Start-Home-based-Detailing-Business-Home-Based-ebook/dp/B00B8OBQIW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1519776595&sr=8-1&keywords=renny+doyle+detailing
You should easily be able to find a 2-quart hand pump sprayer: Amazon link to a $9 cheapie, but I wonder if it will foam properly. If not there are more expensive versions that specifically mention foam, like this $33 one from The Rag Company
My wife had a husky that she toted around from time to time and I used a Rubber Brush from Amazon with solid results.
/u/ICA2015
I don't know what issues others have experienced, but I just bought the 3000 a week ago and used it for the very first time a few days ago. It worked perfect line right out of the box. The quick connector works great.
The only issue I've had so far is that I wish the hose was longer. They sell a 25' length hose here on Amazon. They make a separate one that's cheaper, SPX-25H (not HD), but users have reported that it kinks easily and doesn't feel as quality as the original hose that comes with it. The HD one, however, is supposedly just like the original hose, but longer. I fully intend to buy the longer hose myself after needing to move the washer around my pickup to get all the way around.
I'm very happy with it so far.
+1 to all seabie’s suggestions. I used mainly CarPro band equivalents.
I highly prefer The Rag Companies microfiber towels. They’re available on Amazon as well. I used these and found they were better for the cleanup after polishing and the ceramic coating: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0166U4PRG
I got the Griots Garage DA polisher. I’d recommend some orange or white pads. My car was white and had little to no visible swirls, so I used white pads with M205.
You’re on the right track. Get a spray bottle and mix up some ONR and distilled water (buck a gallon at the grocery store) to appropriate dilution. Done.
I picked up some 8oz pump spray bottles from amazon to keep a few things ready to go but not taking up much space: ONR QD, distilled water, white vinegar, slighly soapy water.

$10 for 6. I keep one of them with ONR QD in my car along with a couple microfiber cloths.
You can find it here. The green one is wash and wax, blue one is just the wash with some gloss enhancers.
I buy this for $20 US. Foam is equal foam to the $50 one from Chemical Bros, but theirs has metal parts and this is plastic. But at $20, it was all I need. Not sure why it cost so much up north, but look for this model. Well worth what I paid. https://www.amazon.ca/Carrand-92230-Suds-N-Spray-Foaming-System/dp/B01BEW7HGW/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=Carrand+foam&qid=1595481472&sr=8-2
Look up on amazon the spta mini polisher, it’s a flexible attachment that goes into a rotary, you can also get the tool itself from them. I think maxshine has a mini also. It works wonders for small trim pieces whether it be the interior piano trim or in trunk indent where the license plate goes

Touch up rock chip paint pen. I get mine from Amazon.
Being 17 and looking for a new car after I totaled my first car being a dumbass didn't leave me room to be picky about the second one. I always hated white cars too, but the color is growing on me. Thanks for the advice, will try.
The car. I got it in February and she's already come a long ways but with the help of this sub I plan on taking her much further.

The media longevity depends on 1) how hard your water source is, 2) how often you wash your car, and 3) the volume of water filtered (how much water you use for each wash session). On my case the media lasted maybe 6 - 12 months, but I only washed maybe once or twice a month at the time.
At these refill prices I got turned off from using CRSpotless anymore. For this reason I went with the battery-powered pressure washer and distilled water from Target (roughly $1/gallon), although I miss being able to use my older 1750psi standard electric pressure washer with filtered water.
For drying, a cheap electric leaf blower generally does a good job as well although having the air filtered and warmed by the Master Blaster products is handy.
Anyone tried these "6 inch car cleaning polishing sponge pads" from Deal Extreme? I've been pleasantly surprised by their clay bars; these might fall apart quickly compared to others, but maybe you'd have a bit of room to spare at $2.75 a pad.
It is problematic when we raise up those execs like musk who report very little sleep. In my opinion the man is circling the drain and lack of sleep has got to be a factor.
Audible recommended this book to me (maybe based on my listening hours???) Worth a read!

I haven no idea if this is a good product, but it's at an all time low.

Oxyclean or 50/50 3% peroxide and water will help clear the smell. The question is what to do next.
First, you need at least a couple fans running full blast inside this car for a minimum of 8 hours, but really you want to run it for a couple days if its soaked in this much. I dont know where you live, but preferably have it outside on a dry, sunny, hot day.
I you're in an area where fall is setting in, you'll want a heat source. You can't use a regular space heater, you'll light your car on fire. If you have a radiator type space heater you can run that inside the car, with the windows all cracked by about an inch.
Whenever you aren't doing this, have a couple desiccant dehumidifiers in there. These things work pretty darn well. If you can't park you car in a dry place with the windows open, roll up the windows and hang a couple of these in there, preferably with the fans on.
When you run the car, run the AC and the heater simultaneously. You can get an odor neutralizing air filter for your HVAC system and it will help a bit too.
New here, don't know if I should post here or in a thread but here goes.... I am getting a new Tesla Model Y and have read about ceramic coating seats (white seats): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N57S9O6

My question here is - I've read reviews on how great the product is, but they are all short-term. Anyone have expeience using this long-term. Specifically, I'm curious how it holds up after multiple applications many years down the road - does it make your seats gunky or weird? Do your seats still feel completely new?
This looks the same gun I use. Saw it in ChrisFix.

I used Turtle Wax Graphene Spray on my travel trailer which has a front window as well as a side window and it's been fine for 5 months now. It sits in the sun all day everyday, but of course doesn't have a windshield wiper.
On my truck I use some cheap liquid wax that's been in my garage for what seems like ages. I don't notice wiper action diminishing it at all, but a couple of good washes will start to weaken it. If and when I do a paint correction I'll probably put down the TW Graphene on the truck + glass, as well.
My philosophy is that life is complicated enough as it is to have a unitasker for glass when I already have multiple products that work at least as well (IMO).
What if the brush basically has a microfiber cloth on it but on a stick like this? Still bad? I'll be washing my car at my own home so it won't be used on other cars and I'd wash the cloth
You can get a cordless mini leaf blower similar to this one. I have one and its soo handy
https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-Polishing-Compound-Scratch/dp/B0009JKGJ2/ (sold in every auto parts store and many supermarkets) or Meguiars Ultimate Polish. Any short-nap microfiber towel or circular applicator.
Waiting won't harm.
The pics aren't mine so I'm not sure exactly what the application technique was.
OPP is on amazon here. Weirdly, they have slightly different branding for the spray bottle version.
Maybe opti-seal? An 8oz bottle is $26 which sounds expensive, but it's highly concentrated. You use one spray per panel, or 2 for the hood. An 8oz bottle should last something like 40-50 cars.
You can also use it on glass and as a drying aid. Yvan demos all its uses here.
They don't sell in stores, Amazon or Griots is your only choice AFAIK.
https://www.amazon.com/CERAKOTE-Ceramic-Trim-Coat-Kit/dp/B07SHJVK4G
The kit that I have looks different (black ziplock bag) but that's the only option I can see.
Vac Master VF408 1101. 5 HP 4 Gal and pretty compact. I have one that i use for my mobile operations and I love it. If you buy it on amazon there’s even an additional $5 off coupon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F79T4BF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ZV9HJKPKKCSCHZBYFR21
