We can't pull triggers, jump out of the way, or run away in our dreams. We've all experienced this. Why is this?
When you pull the trigger, or when you run, you receive signals from your body in response. You feel/percieve the gun going off, or you feel the ground in specific ways when running. In our dreams, we do not feel these automatic responses because they are not happening. They aren't happening because neurotransmitters in our brain are preventing sending signals to our muscles. If it wasn't for this block, we'd be running, jumping, and pulling triggers in our beds.
So your brain is sending the signal to pull the trigger. But there's a neurotransmitter preventing the signal from reaching your muscles, and in turn you do not receive the proper signals back telling you "job complete!"
Don't worry about it. Seriously, you're psyching yourself out listening to someone say "This means you aren't psychotic". Psychos can't run in bed either!

There is the link guys, cheap way to train at home . I use it by drawing from concealed apendix , that way iget after at accurately engaging the target, AND I used it to 0 my RMR. Good stuff ..not sponsored or anything though I wish I was lol, but I like it , I use it , so I shared it
Well, hardening the door or sticking up an ADT sticker are quick/easy solutions. As are things like outdoor lighting, lights inside on timers (looks like someone's home), and the like.
If you're looking more for lifetime companionship, doggos are the best though. Cats just sleep through intruders and wait to eat the flesh off your face when you're dead. Sneaky little fuckers.
You can carry inside the vehicle only. Leaving the car, it has to be locked up. "Locked" can be in the glove box or center console, as a latch counts as a lock.
Currently, IL recognizes zero other state's licenses, because we suck.
handgunlaw.us (.pdf) probably has the best info. Legalheat is a pretty good app, have that on my phone.
Actually, what OP wants is a "high endurance" card. They are made specifically to take the constant temperature changes and overwriting of recordings. Regular cards don't hold up in dash cams at all, and it makes people think the cams are shit. You just need to use the proper card.
I use this one and it's good: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B9KTLJZ/
Additionally, I use a set with dual cameras, and it works great: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B075S7W6FR/
You can put some door armor on your front door. That will stop someone from kicking it in, unless they have a bartering ram: https://www.amazon.com/Door-Armor-MAX-Complete-Reinforcement/dp/B01GWF2R70

Get a dash cam.
Also, don't get out of your car. It is your best defense and offense. He isn't likely to be able to punch through your window, his hand will break first. If he has a tool/weapon to break through the window you will have an easy shot from within your vehicle(though your ears will hate you). If he had a firearm you could have used your car as a weapon against him and run him over. Remember that a CCW permit doesn't change anything about self defense law. You are allowed to meet a lethal threat with lethal force even if your force is a car/machete/wrecking ball/nuclear missile. It doesn't have to be your gun.
If the oncoming traffic had cleared up you could have also pulled a u-turn. It might not be 100% legal, but I think you'd have a pretty good case in traffic court. You'd also have less legal fees compared to a self-defense suit.
Like you, I'm not going to break any lawful no-carry laws. I blow past "No guns allowed" signs all the time because in TX we are not obligated to abide those postings unless they fit the designated signage laws. But when it actually matters (like going into a school or post office), I want to lock it up in the car.
I use a small safe with a cable that is attached to anchor points under the driver seat of my vehicles. Yeah, it's not going to stop any would-be thieves with a set of bolt cutters. But it will keep your standard smash-n-grab type criminals from getting it. And at the end of the day, if my gun ever does get stolen, I at least want to be able to tell the police that my gun was securely locked in a safe and not just rattling around in my glove box.
Obviously you could go the more hardcore route and have a more expensive safe installed in your console or bolted securely somewhere else. But for my usage, that'd be overkill.
For car storage: http://www.consolevault.com
If they make one for your car they’re good. If not get this vault and use the Security cable to connect it to the frame of your seat or other sturdy portion of the vehicle.
On gun, the one you’ll actually carry and use is the best gun. If that’s .22 you’re better off than a 9mm in a drawer at home.
That said, go rent various .380 and 9mm. Either would be better if you can get comfortable with one.
If no one posts on the matter, search for clothing for women’s carry. There have been great strides in the past 5-10 years in producing clothing for women who carry. This could allow on body carry which is better than purse carry. I don’t have links as it wouldn’t apply to me. ;)
Keep asking questions here, this sub will be happy to help you!
You should read Varg Freeborn's "Violence of Mind", before you go charging into other people's fights.
While it's honorable, it's rarely a good idea.
Varg's book definitely changed my mind in regards to CCW/self protection.

You didn’t mess up or freeze! Your actions show that you were ridiculously aware given the circumstances (tried to call 911 first before reaching for your firearm), and something in your gut, your instinct, stopped that trigger finger unless you absolutely HAD to. You would have pulled if he attacked you, but you waited until the absolute last possible second to decide whether to take a life, and that shows courage and really trusting your instincts and your training. There was probably a little spark in your brain somewhere that said "If he really was going to attack me he'd already be doing it, not standing there taunting me." (If you haven't read The Gift of Fear, do.) Nobody died or went to the hospital, and you get to sleep in your own bed. That was the best possible outcome you could have had. Don't wish you could go back and do it over again and shoot someone... as traumatizing as having a psycho bathrobe ninja fall out of your ceiling is, that would be far worse for your mental health.
Here is his PART 2 video response posted on his FB page.
Apparently he was law enforcement at one point.

New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc., et al., Petitioners
v.
Kevin P. Bruen, in His Official Capacity as Superintendent of New York State Police, et al.\
ARGUMENT SET FOR Wednesday, November 3, 2021.
Key point:
> Petition GRANTED limited to the following question: Whether the State's denial of petitioners' applications for concealed-carry licenses for self-defense violated the Second Amendment.
I don't see any point to adding your name to a list for USCCA. SCOTUS doesn't make rulings by petition. And I am a member of USCCA.
My friend runs a training company and his little 4 year old has been learning firearm safety since day 1.
She’ll recite the 4 rules and has an AR Nerf gun she uses with soda cans (no people). After she’s shot the targets and needs to go line them up again she’ll call out “down range”
I didn’t grow up around firearms and don’t have kids (or plan to for a long time), but seeing her is really impressive and amazes me how much kids will retain and how mature they can be at times.
I have read legal advice that teaches you to offer your name, the fact that you needed to defend yourself, additional exculpatory information (such as assailants weapons), and the location of witnesses that observed the fight. The reasoning was that a simple or hardline "don't talk to the police" stance might risk that evidence being missed, or the witnesses not being interviewed in time. You NEED that stuff to clear your name, and it's probably better if you direct the cops to that evidence. You're not giving up a whole lot by giving up that little bit of information.
Other than that, he says, you take the fifth. Not much different from this advice.
The Law of Self Defense, 3rd Edition https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F9FAJBA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_-tdMAbG5FJGAJ
You’re doing the right thing by asking this question first.
First, read up on self defense law as much as you can. Read The Law of Self Defense. Read it again.
There are a lot of details during a home defense situation that could lead you to be prosecuted, and those reasons vary by state. If you decide to arm yourself, you’re on the hook to know and understand the complex landscape of self defense law. Learn as much as you can and then learn some more.
Most importantly, never trust that if a specific case went right for someone, the exact same case would have the same outcome for you. The law, justice, and the way it is served is inconsistent at best. You have to prepare for the aftermath as much as the act itself.
I couldn't agree more.
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty, than those attending too small a degree of it."
You're doing it wrong.
Here at CCWGoneWild you need to tag your sex. It should read:
Howdy! Thought I'd introduce [m]yself with my CCW setup...
Your experience seriously sucks. I hear you loud and clear on the gun control point as well. I hope you don't mind a few questions:
Thanks much, and glad you and your girlfriend are OK. I also suggest investing in a door barricace. Even something like this could make a difference.
Really paranoid of printing. Love the holster but wanted it to look more like a wallet in my front pocket. Ordered some rubber off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L8NXU00/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JmUnAbWVPMK20
Cut out a square using a utility knife and glued it to the kydex using liquid nails. Used the knife to mark up the rubber to give the glue a better grip. Now it looks really square in my pocket and the rubber keeps the holster locked in on the draw.
Hawaiian shirts have two things going for them that are working for you
That's it. That's why they conceal so well. Plaid shirts work the same way. This shirt would likely work as well. I almost exclusively wear a shirt like this.

I've been using these daily for a few weeks now with G19 and G43 mags. Super comfortable, forget that it's there when I place it in the opposite "appendix" carry crease to where my gun is (11 o'clock). Works at 7-9 o'clock for me too. I've shot at the range with it, mags come out easy, holder stays on my belt. G43 mags take a little bit more finesse to get out, but with the pinky extensions I have on them it's not too bad. Are they the fastest most reliable reload option out there, no. Are they super convenient, comfortable, and cheap, yes.

Or just get a nanovault so you can use it in your car if you ever need to do that while travelling or if you carry and need to disarm before going into a post office or other restricted area. It comes with a cable that's good enough to prevent the typical smash and grab.
I wouldn't store it at the girlfriends house - too many potential issues. It would be better for everyone if you just cross that off your list.
Thanks for sharing this. I haven't been training as much as you but I've been using a Pink Rhino Laser Catridge and the G-Sight Laser Training Pro app (iTunes or Google Play Store). and have been getting some better results myself using the shot timer in the app. I went with this solution as it was the cheapest.

Will give the website link a good read later today and look into the books.

Much appreciated!
Get a proper pocket carry holster. Not only for the safety aspect but the speed.
A holster gives you a proper drawstroke and the safety to carry one in the chamber. Relying on your ability to rack one in AFTER drawing from a random pocket position ain't gonna work well.
I use this

https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/
There are TONS of dashcams on the market. Many even have a camera for the inside of the vehicle.
Using your cellphone is probably better though, if you've got a mount or something, because you can use a program like Bambuser to live-stream it to the cloud, so that it's 'undeleteable' by someone who's in possession of your phone.

I've actually found that those thin, soft shirts are really good for ccw. Color doesn't really matter as much as how a shirt lays on you with a holster. I've also found that a shirt with some texture rather than a solid color can help as well.
Here is me carrying with a Crossbreed at 4 o'clock. You really don't print much at all unless you're trying to. Of course if you happen to wear shirts a lot tighter than I do then there's no preventing printing.
I love Amazon for this stuff as well, but as for gun belts I've heard Hanks Kydex reinforced belt is great. I can't speak personally for it, but I've seen nothing but great reviews. As for holsters I'm more of a minimalist, to carry my G19 I use a simple Galco Stow-n-Go IWB holster. It's been great so far.
There are no federal laws against carrying your gun or magazine across state lines.
You need to familiarize yourself with the related laws of every state you will travel through, and comply with them. On Android, the CCW app is a great resource. I'm sure there is something similar on iOS as well. http://www.handgunlaw.us is a great website for this research as well.
From a quick glance, South Carolina doesn't honor your permit. Don't carry there. Read their transport laws.
Georgia and North Carolina do honor it. You can carry there. Read up on their specific laws regarding signage and prohibited areas.
Do yourself a favor and get a hogue grip. Makes the gun much more easy and enjoyable to shoot. That bit of rubber makes all the difference in dissipating some of the recoil.
Here is my option a little over but reviews are good

You'll find many, many "chase-off" cases like this for every killing. Read "On Killing" by Lt. Col. David Grossman to fully understand why. TLDR is we are much more mentally hardwired to bluff, not to kill...most of us, anyhow.
Here's a paper I wrote two years ago on this topic. Check out the Works Cited, and you may find some helpful articles.

What your asking for is pretty much force on force training. The most well know of these classes is Craig Douglas Shivworks ECQC classes.
I would also reccomend looking into Varg Freeborn. I don't think he's teaching classes at the moment, but his book "Violence of Mind" is a good look at the self defense mindset/orientation.
IDK what you're carrying or how, I'll only add that one thing I think far too many people overlook is suspenders. Some are fantastic for helping to carry the weight of a gun.
As mentioned I carry a full size OWB, I do so in a Bianchi carry lok 82 holster and often using Perry side clip suspenders. https://www.amazon.com/Perry-Suspenders-Elastic-Outback-Trucker/dp/B00PKW2TIE?th=1 Hook'm on the belt next to the holster and viola, no need for an overly tight or stiff belt.
For belts though, check out Hanks Belts.
I use the Dr. scholls heel cusion with velcro as a wedge, works well is comfortable and incredibly cheap to replace if you need to
I like these. They're not too warm, wick away moisture well and have a bit of extra length to keep tucked in (I'm 6'5", it's a struggle to stay tucked).
I saw this somewhere and threw it on my amazon wishlist. I don't think i would ever buy it, buy if someone gave it to me...

I carry the TDI on/off duty everyday. I primarily work plain clothes. After about a year I bought a third party sheath from “Matthew’s fabrication” you can find him on face book / amazon.
The new sheath allows for a much smoother draw and full grip vs the TDI sheath.
I wear this on my weak side primary function would be to retain my weapon.
Yes. Drawing to low ready is brandishing and intimidating, literally by definition. If any of this is remotely ambiguous I'd recommend The Law of Self Defense and Deadly Force.
In this hypothetical scenario, if a car with tinted windows parks in front of your house, just go back inside and lock the door. Problem solved. You have no idea whether it's a psychopath with a belt-fed machine gun, a couple police officers, the pizza guy, or the neighbor's babysitter. Unless they are trying to harm you, just walk away. It's not worth the potential legal fees or jail time to defend the honor of your driveway. Who gives a shit. Until the problem forces entry into your house, just walk away.
Don’t forget the flip side of the confrontational mindset: if you pull your gun without needing to do so to save your life, the other person is, technically, legally entitled to shoot you for threatening their life with a deadly weapon.
If on the one-in-a-trillion chance someone randomly pulls up to your house and comes charging at you with a drawn gun, like in the video, then your life is most likely in immediate and unavoidable danger and you should do whatever you need to do to make sure you stay alive, and you are legally entitled to protect yourself.
You can send it to yourself, but the required overnight shipping will be much more expensive than just getting a cheap pistol vault like this for your flight.
I don't know how much control over the css the mods have, but it is certainly possible in html.

They make pepper guns that shoot pepper balls. Similar to pepper spray but less collateral damage. Might be the kind of thing you are looking for .

They make them in 3 length sizes. But not different widths that I am aware of. I think if your studs are wider apart than 16 inches you could first add some 2x4 pieces as a shim to the studs to bring the space between back to 16” spacing.
There are 4 screw holes that go from inside the cabinet into the studs. The screws that are included aren’t the best, and I used some of my own.
I found them on Amazon, Walmart and Home Depot.

This one is $49 on amazon and it is very nice one. I like ratchet system, very easy to adjust. Also lightweight but sturdy enough. Tried with both p365 and p320c - works very well.
Streamlight Microstream USB — never got the flashlight EDC hype until I started carrying one, now I’ll never go back. Unbelievably handy.

There are some apps you can get for your smartphone that have that sort of information.
For Android, there are 2 that I use:

Fits 2 full size pistols plus 2 spare mags tightly, although depending on the size of your gun while holstered you may only fit 1 pistol and some spare mags. My wife can get her edc Shield + belly band on one side and me my edc j-frame + aiwb kydex holster + speed strip on the other. My edc j-frame setup will also fit in with a full sized pistol and some spare mags.
I like these because they're not electronic, so it's always going to work. No worry about batteries, messy fingerprints, crappy electronics, getting locked out for entering the wrong password (like if your toddler messes with it)... And it's very fast to use too. I have several stored in key points around my house with home defense guns, plus we keep our carry guns in them.
Nope, I buy the moisture wicking "compression" undershirts. They fit pretty tight and help with the sweating. I mean, no matter what you will be hotter with two layers, but at least the undershirt helps keep the sweat from coming through my regular shirt.
These are the kind of undershirts I use.
I've been using a concealed carry man purse over the past couple of weeks. I like the vertical draw over the horizontal draw you get with most carry fanny packs.
I usually just throw them in a back pocket or cargo pocket. I load up a 7 round strip with 2 then a space, then 2 then a space, then the final round when I’m carrying a 5 shot j-frame.
So I have space for my fingers and can get two at a time easier.

Get these:
Put them on your door. Granted they may not be a ‘perfect’ solution but it someone tries to force open a door with you inside it will slow them down. If they are trying to just open it with a key they aren’t getting in. I have used them for years even while at home.
There are plenty of other (similar) work arounds to keep people out of your home/apartment.
Sharing this... well, because it doesn't exist. So if you're looking to holster this combo, here's what I went with, Tulster IWB Profile: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MTRLTQ9

Cut the piece off the top, then sand it down... voila, works perfect. It retained full rigidity for appendix carry, couldn't be happier.
My guess is they could give a shit about making functional holsters for people who train and they want to make a TON of money off fudds and brand new gun owners. Remember, thousands and thousands of people buy these things too...
Don't judge me for this...
The guy who does Active Self Protection's videos posted this on Amazon. It is an aerosol pepper spray grenade. If you're really worried about shit like this happening, or some sort of social unrest, or whatever, buy one and stick it in your briefcase.
I picked This GunVault up from Amazon. I wanted something that was easy for me to get to and wasn't something my kid was going to get into. It has a keylock as backup incase the battery goes dead.
a bright pen/pocket light is better because you can use it and be talking on your phone at the same time. I can put my pen light in my mouth and have both hands free. If I drop my pen light its screen doesn't shatter. If somebody needs to borrow my pen light I haven't lost my means of communication.
I carry this one every day. It takes AAA batteries so there's no charging. Its pretty bright. Its got a reversible clip thing so you can actually slide it onto the brim of your hat to turn it into a headlamp. https://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-MicroStream-Ultra-compact-Aluminum-alkaline/dp/B00143JZ08/
I like in the ear foam plugs, but at an indoor range they will lead to hearing damage over time due to the increased sound levels of enclosed spaces. I recommend running foam plugs with over the ear muffs that someone else can recommend as I stopped using them around 12 years ago. As far as eye pro goes, Oakley makes decent comfortable glasses, but they do come at a very steep price. Is the risk high enough for you to justify the cost? IMO yes it is, but if that is out of your price range then these are what the US Army issued me in basic combat training, and at about half the price of Oakley glasses
I grabbed this from Amazon. Fast and incredibly secure (for a pistol sized lock box). Holds 2 pistols, but if you got a huge holster maybe only 1 (my Philster holster for P365XL fits with another G19 sized gun).
Reliable fast access is the deal breaker here. If you need reliable fast access, the simplex lock is the king. I don't trust those crappy electronics they put on the small safes. They don't open fast, the battery can die, most are easily picked open (if your kids are older and sneak around behind your back then this is very bad because there's videos on YouTube showing how to do it), they usually lock you out if you try too many times, finger print ones are notorious for either opening for the wrong person or not working if your fingers aren't pristinely clean and presented perfectly, they have a backup key that you also gotta keep from your kids, some open when dropped, and they don't seem to like it when you input the code too fast.
If speed isn't your concern, aka your home defense gun is something else, then sure try one. If that's all you can afford, hey you're probably more likely to have your kid stumble upon your gun than need to grab it for a break in, so get the safe. But if you can afford it and speed is a concern, I highly recommend the simplex lock like on the V-Line and Fort Knox safes. Here's a Lucky Gunner video basically saying the same thing.
Also to note, a dedicated pistol safe has foam inside and my gun doesn't move when the safe is closed, even of it's shaken. Idk what exactly you're considering from HF, but that information may or may not be important to you.
I wear athletic shorts, sweatpants, and stuff way more than jeans and this is how you do it. Underwear, then this belt from blue alpha gear, then wear your pants/shorts over that. With this set up a small gun like a sig p365 or Glock 43, for example, are ideal. When I wear actual belt loops with jeans I can carry my CZ-p10c, also never tried ulticlips, but that is what they are marketed to do, just can't speak to how effective they are because I haven't tried them
Yes sir.
NRA BP is $150
Adventure Outdoors, a local Atlanta Range has a free Firearms Safety Course.
With Groupon she can get a 2 hour course by an NRA certified instructor for $45
I go trail running quite a bit.
Earlier this week I wore my mountain bike shorts that are kind of like more athletic cargo shorts..anyways it has belt loops, so I just ran with my appendix holster on like I would normally wear it.
I used to throw my gun in my camelbak for runs, but I still hate having it off of me, even in the woods.
That solution works for me, so it might work for you, too. My Glock gets completely doused in sweat, but whatever, doesn't matter too much.
Edit: These are the exact shorts I run in.
Thanks for the shoutout. I'll be honest, it was sort of a mix of his idea, and my want to train in the living room before his bedtime. Train like you fight, and all that. I got a set of these (https://www.amazon.com/Tactical-Preparedness-Solutions-David-Morris/dp/B00EPPWK7M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1469383834&sr=8-1&keywords=dry+fire+training+cards) for really cheap in exchange for an honest amazon review, and opened them while he was working on his homework. He asked about them, and I explained what they were for. He immediately asked if we could use them, and I couldn't say no.
I guess I shouldn't have let my mind go in that direction. There is also this HDMI cable on amazon priced to sell at $13,499.75 to consider: https://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-Diamond-52-49-Braided-Cable/dp/B00IL3TZSQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1472771011&sr=8-2&keywords=diamond+hdmi+cable
I don’t claim these are the best, but they’re working very nicely for me and they’re only about $44 on Amazon right now, they’re usually over $60:
My buddy has a neoprene amazon special. He carries there for work (business casual). I tried it felt ok even with the TRL-6 on it and +2 mag ext. I’m not convinced enough to waste the $15
Needs:
Just some cleaner, a decent rag (or those blue shop cloths work pretty well), and a decent brush and a bore snake. That will do you for every day cleaning. Some folks like a dedicated solvent and lube. Some folks like an all in one cleaner and lube (remoil, clp, whatever). All in one has always done fine for me.
I'd honestly recommend a cleaning kit though. A decent one is only like 10 bucks on amazon, has about everything you'd need in it, and if nothing else, its nice to have a zippered case to keep everything where you left it.
A cleaning mat is a nice to have. Just something to keep the lube off your table. I mean, you can always just lay out an old t shirt or paper bag or something, but these are only 15$ on amazon and they're just so much cooler amiright?
5.11 had a triangle sling bag that has a concealed pouch on the front of the strap. When you wear it the holster operates like a cross draw. The pouch is detachable and can be rigged on and cross body strap if you can loop it on.
They used to sell just the holster but I believe it still comes with the bag.
Only really works if you have a cross body strap and doesn't fit much more than a compact, but the pull tabs unzip it quickly and for a while I was squeezing my P226 into it.

I'd first recommend finding a new roommate/place to live, but as that isn't in the cards for many, V-line and Fort Knox make excellent, non-electronic pistol safes. I purchased this one for my nightstand now that my daughter is old enough to get into stuff. Cable locking it to the bed frame is a decent deterrent for most casual thieves. I stay away from anything that requires batteries/has a key backup.
I'm going to try one of these and it might work really well for an SUV, assuming you are willing to bolt it in.

The reality is, no <50$ lock box is going to be all that secure from prying open, or simply snatch and grab, and that little tsa cable isn't stopping much either.
The potential benefit in THIS case, is that you bolt down the metal mounting sleeve, then slide the case into the sleeve and when you lock the case, the little metal tab also locks the case into mounting sleeve.
Watched a video review and the reviewer really nailed the point.
Its still a budget case in a budget lock, and you could still hypothetically pry the box out, and/or pry the case open, BUT if actually mount the sleeve, and slide the case in tab side down (towards the surface of the car) then there is no room for a would be thief to pry it open, unless the are going to pry bar the whole box off its bolts. Not bad for 25$
I have two of the hpg chest rigs. I wear one every time i go hiking with either a G17 or G19 in it. I bought maxpedition magazine holder/ "holster" that i use inside to keep a magazine handy and not rattling.
I have no worries about the trigger not being covered. Theres nothing inside the rig for it to catch on!
In that case, you'd have to agree the same thing applies to this. Unless you can refute the fact that their numbers are tainted.
It's a combination of technique and strength.
With good technique (see video below), you can compensate for poor strength.
With high strength (inexpensive grip exerciser), you can compensate for poor technique.
Best is high skill and high strength.
I used Assault Rifle because the Federal Assault Weapons ban banned certain rifles, certain pistols, and certain shotguns. I see now that the Wikipedia page on assault rifles uses the definition for military rifles. I will update this in the presentation, thank you!
Sure, actually if you want the ppt presentation, you can download it here: http://www.filedropper.com/bythenumbers
Feel free to modify and share as you like.
If they really want to stop "smart gun" tech start sharing stories of how the tech doesn’t always work. Find stories of the signal being "cracked" and sold underground to people who either want to jam it so they can’t get shot at by LEOs, or want to unlock a stolen gun for use. They mentioned the fingerprint reader like on iphones... yeah, that crap was hacked the day after the iphone 5 released. Or hell just bring up concerns about health issues related to wearing yet another transmitter on your wrist? Last I check the courts still hadn't decided on if cell phones give you brain cancer.
Just my two cents sorry for wall of text. edit for spelling and added the link.
I pocket carry with mine because of my outfit and tendency for my shirt to lift up when reaching for things. There are some decent holsters out there that make it practical. Mine has rubber grips to allow the gun to be drawn while leaving the holster behind. It also came with a sheath that can be placed over it if your pants are a little thin (such as slacks), and it will look like a wallet.
Crap link, but you can see what it is
I paid about $25 or $30 for mine
After awhile you will have to replace it. I've had this one for about 6 months and it's working awesome! If I can get at least a year out of it totally worth it! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081ZHSCC1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_NMJHF9NVH98FB5ESPBG3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Get a ComfortTac.
I kid you not, this thing has THE BEST Velcro I've ever seen in my life.
No belt loops.
This is the one the wife and I have and it's amazing.
I got this so I can have one in both vehicles. The foam is removable so it can accommodate a variety of gun / holster combinations.
Should be enough to prevent smash & grab, and anyone that has the tools to get in likely would have gotten in any of the other ones.
I prefer key, because I can put it on my keychain and I don't have to remember the combo 🤷♂️
I'm also a larger guy and when I say larger my gun belts are 52" to accommodate my girth and the gun. I totally get the gun drags the belt down. I've tired every combination and nothing works. It's not a belt problem. It's not a holster problem. It's just a body type problem.
For larger guys, belts just won't work b/c of how a belt is designed: it needs your hips and ass to be wider/larger than your waist b/c it sits on that. It's why our pants tend to slide down too.
The solution I've found is suspenders worn under my shirt. I wear these. I prefer the white/beige over the black ones some thin shirts have bleed through. These attach to your pants, I do offset the front right one to be closer to a 3:00 position to help compensate for the weight of my gun. I wear a normal ratchet style gun belt and strong side hip carry my Glock 17. With these suspenders, I can keep my belt a bit more loose and therefore comfortable.
I have worn these for years with zero problems. I've taken pistol classes in all types of conditions. I've yet to have a clip come off the pants.
Good point all. Worth considering.
I enjoyed reading Vance Packard's The Hidden Persuaders, The Hidden Persuaders: Packard, Vance, Miller, Mark Crispin: 9780978843106: Amazon.com: Books
How do you do it? The usual suspects: belt, holster.
The issue I have (keyword here is I) with fullsize pistols is the weight so some of my choices for the usual suspects is specifically to lower the weight of all the shit I'm carrying.
I like nylon or ratched style belts b/c they are like 1/5 of the weight of a leather gun belt. I don't care how the belt looks b/c my shirt covers it up 100% of the time. I like kydex holsters b/c they're lighter than leather. I also wear suspenders under my shirt to help offset the weight on my hips. A bonus here is it allows me to have more slack in my belt for comfort and still not have the gun sag.
I don't carry a full sized 1911, but I do carry a cz 75 p-01 like this and that's pretty heavy.
check something like this out since you need it soon. after that, think about a weapon system that will work better for you with even better holstering options.
thank God no one was hurt. live and learn.
Exactly, I use these
Peltor Sport Tri-Flange Corded... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000DZF7T6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
without cans and I’m good, although if someone has a long gun in the lane next to me I’ll put on the cans too.
I use these master locks on my 1200 and 1750 when I travel, should work for the vault as well.
Master Lock 140T Solid Brass Keyed Alike Padlock, 7 Count Total https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004Y8D3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_E2DTFb4DT0KKP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I wish I had ape hands. I just have fat fingers. Magazine extensions solved the problem for me, and . FWIW, I carry an M&P Shield, which has a fairly small grip.
The popular brand is Pierce. Amazon was out of those, however, so I bought a cheaper brand called Fixxxer, and they work just fine. You're basically popping off the bottom of the magazine and replacing it with an extended piece. They're compatible with extended mag spacers, and [Talon Grips](talongungrips.com) makes grips specifically designed for the Pierce that will also fit Fixxer for $2 each.
