Did you guys ever have those hippety hop toys as a kid? They're like yoga balls with a handle and you can hop around on them?
Well I just found an adult-sized dinosaur hippety hop and I can't come up with any reason I shouldn't buy it.
Guys, I have a problem. An addiction, if you will. I keep escaping it, but then relapsing several months later. I am ashamed. But for some stupid reason I just can't quit Cookie Clicker.
Sharing a good deal: If you're a Spotify Premium customer you can add Hulu for $0.99/month for 3 months and then after that pay $12.99/month for both services. The latter is only $3.00 more a month than Spotify Premium so a good deal to save on Hulu.
I cancel and readd Hulu whenever there's something that I want to watch, so this comes at a great time since Handmaid's Tale is starting soon.
I'm sorry you're sick but I've got news that will cheer you up :D

As a helpful entrance point, try LyX. It's a Word-style editor that hides the raw LaTeX on the back end so you don't have to dive in directly.
I just edit LaTeX raw now, but if I'm stuck on something I'll do it in LyX and look at the source code.
I haven't been here in so long I wonder if anyone remembers me at this point.
Anyway, just got back from an awesome music festival and am still in the dancing mood, so if anyone is into jam music, String Cheese Incident is streaming their sets from this weekend of Electric Forest.
I would suggest signing up with wordpress and get started writing. Setup is easy and it is very user-friendly.
Don't worry about design, domain name, or programming or anything until you have something you're ready to show-off and share. Quality content is more important than anything else.

If you can make it through all 7 paragraphs of the synopsis then more power to you.
Guys if you have a few minutes and want to read something uplifting, please read this, its the story of a guy that I grew up with that overcame an autoimmune disease to graduate Harvard and then walkon at Michigan.
There's also a football anime if you can believe that and it has 145 episodes on Crunchy Roll I can't vouch to whether its good or not as I've only seen a few episodes, but it does exist.
I know I am not the only one here who colors! There's a Groupon up right now for 4 grown up coloring books for $20 if you include shipping!
I mean, he might be an ass, but he's a successful ass. I'm not aware of anything criminal he did (other than the pot, which I don't consider worthy of being called criminal).
I did a podcast for /r/NCAAW. We talked ACC, B1G, and UConn, primarily. If any of those topics trips your trigger check it out and tell me what I need to do better.

Feel free to see if your data was publicly posted here --> https://haveibeenpwned.com/
edit: to add to this, hibp just checks the lists for your email address, it does not check your password. Most of the dumps are not plain text passwords, instead they are just the hash to your password. It would take more processing power to actually crack each of those.
tl;dr - This is just checking to see if your email was in the file, and that's it. After you change your pw, it will still show that site.
God, I'm a fucking idiot and have been defeated by Dyson.
So I bought my ex a Dyson powerball vacuum and as it turns out my parents bought one as well. Now, on the vacuum, which you can see in the 3rd picture on the amazon listing, is a place where there is a power button that is touchinh a separate button with the brush icons.
Now I always thought it was weird that they weren't the same button since I would press the button and it would start the bristles. Well evidently I just accepted this as a fact and never checked, and just thought Dyson has some stupid product designers. Fast forward to toward when I'm vacuuming and notice the bristles aren't going. So I stop and do all the checks to see if it can spin and verify that, turn it on and it still isn't going. Stop and think for a bit, remember that "stupid design" and then come up with the guess of trying that. It fucking fixes it. Go me.
I was terribly socially awkward when I was younger. My mom still likes to bring up the fact that I would invite friends over to my house, then sit in my room and read, and just generally ignore them. She gave me "Mom Homework" at the age of 9 and forced me to read How To Win Friends and Influence People, hoping that it'd make me less introverted (it didn't).

Make sure you do your research before you decide to buy pet insurance.
Consumers Reports basic conclusion is that it is only worth it if your dog ends up with a costly condition, not for regular healthy shots and check ups. If you are willing to pay $35 a month for pet insurance, you might think about setting up a separate savings account and just putting the money in there every month and only using that money for vet bills.
Atlanta folks: Groupon has a great deal on tickets to the Oddball Comedy Festival on 10/4 at Lakewood. Aziz Ansari & Amy Schumer are the headliners. Tickets are $42 for the lawn from Ticketmaster, but $25 on Groupon.
I haven't bought anything from Groupon in years, but that's a deal to something I was going to go to anyway.
NOTE THAT THE AUTHOR MADE A MISTAKE ABOUT WHY IT'S PROFITABLE NOW-- IT'S NOT BECAUSE I RAISED THE PRICE BECAUSE I CAN'T DO THAT AND IF I COULD I'D RAISE IT HIGHER. IT'S PROFITABLE BECAUSE OF A VOLUME DISCOUNT.
Yeah, that's what I think most of RMP is. Salty little kids who can't actually do the class, so they go on there and complain. People who are angry are much more likely to write a review than somebody who was content.
This bitch is also the only professor I ever wrote a review for, and I honestly don't know how she's still employed
My older sister and her husband are closing on their house tomorrow. The house includes a little bar with a two keg setup. My parents and my husband and I are conspiring to get them a pony keg (or mini, not sure what size kegs the bar takes at the moment) of Guinness (because that's her husband's favorite beer) and a tap handle.
Holy hell, legit Guinness tap handles are expensive af on Amazon. I think they're going to get a chalkboard one or something from us so they can just write the name of the beer on it.
Understanding Mental Disorders--Your Guide to DSM-V for work, and Man's Search for Meaning for "fun"-ishness.
There's a story in Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman about someone who set out to answer "How long is the emperor of China's nose?" Everyone was forbidden to see the Emperor's face, of course, so they went all over the country asking everyone how long they guessed his nose was, and then took an average of everyone's answer.
The best part for me is I re=discovered a mix "tape" I had uploaded there called the
"I'll Take a Melody: The Roots of Jerry Garcia" which are two separate collections.
the 1st contains live recordings of all the cover songs performed by the Jerry Garcia Band and the other is the original recordings of said songs.
/u/august__west have you ever come across this? If not I will try to find a way to share it or find the original download link
Sadly all I can seem to find is the track list. The links to the MP3s are dead: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.music.gdead/7mbQg7xLYhg
I will try to re-upload it somewhere.
Portland is about to get cooked by a heatwave this weekend. 108 Saturday, 111 Sunday, 104 Monday. With the lack of air conditioned homes in the Northwest, this could be bad. Luckily my parents have a daylight basement which keeps it a bit cooler for them.
Please stay away from Dell laptops. Dell is notorious for making shitty laptops that die way too quickly.
**Edit - I keep getting people telling me how their Dell laptops lasted. I will admit that apparently Dell has worked to improve itself and has had some success. However, Dell destroyed it's reputation in 2010 when it was exposed for knowingly shipping computers with faulty parts to enterprise and had horrible customer service on the consumer side. In addition, all laptops have a failure rate and Dell's was a bit higher than industry average back then. They've improved their failure rate, though, according to this study.
Yeah, I have a fair amount of friends that utilize it, as well as family.
I just avoid the app and try to only log on from my computer. But it has super targeted ads and definitely tracks your browsing.
Remember when someone posted this a couple weeks ago? It's been my FB suggested ad on my feed since that point.
Atlanta looked like this yesterday, and it's even worse today. I live five minutes from downtown, and couldn't see the skyline when I drove in to work today. So spooky.
I've been meaning to hit y'all up with reviews whenever I catch a movie. Here's the most recent:
Beirut (2018)
This feels a lot like the plethora of Bourne style action movies that came out in the early 2000's but with more spy stuff and less shooting. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, I thought it worked out pretty well.
If you're into morally gray films I think this one has a lot to offer. While Hamm himself is a pretty straightforward character everyone else involved does some questionable things no doubt, but usually for reasons that are completely morally understandable. Which is really to be expected coming out of a film that takes place during the Lebanese Civil War. Unlike the Syrian Civil War where the was/is a completely morally abhorrent enemy in ISIS that pretty much everyone could agree was bad, that didn't really happen in Lebanon. Everyone did bad things, but mostly in an attempt to protect themselves or their friends and families. This film reflects that.
I have a few problems with the ending and there were some slightly off dialogue choices but altogether a very good movie.
If you like that and have a letterboxd... shameless plug
/u/isthataturtle free BF4 DLC.
Our athletic department posted this today.
I'm happy we're finally getting a new stadium, because we really did need one, but it's sad to see the old one gone. Lots of good memories there.
I used this app awhile ago to create a gameboy emulator that worked on my phone - http://www.gba4iosapp.com/download/
Haven't ever tried to do SNES or original Nintendo though... not sure I'd get the same out of those games as I never really played them
I want this but of course it's unavailable.
no one does hurricanes like gaston. more info here
I got a fairly cheap helmet off Amazon for track days.
It's honestly mediocre, but does its job; not THAT uncomfortable, doesn't move around much. I paid about $100 less than that entry; dunno why it's gone up so much since then.
Seems to me like good tires > anything else, as far as I can tell.
I'm very seriously considering picking up a beat up Miata and building it for the track.
I got an umbrella that opens the opposite way recently (like this one on Amazon although this isn't the exact one I have, it was a gift so IDK where it came from) and I finally got to use it and it's awesome! It works PERFECTLY for getting in the car.
So I have the opportunity to purchase an LG 39LB5600 (39" backlit LED) that was bought around 2014/2015 for $140.
Amazon link. Retailed for ~$400-450 new.
Apparently still in peak shape (selling because the guy is graduating). Worth a buy or not?
Dinosaur skirt from Amazon.
Thanks man, that's actually a pretty good way to look at it.
I'm not great at gift giving. I always err on the side of utility.. may not be the most sentimental gift, but if it's put to use, it's all good.
What platform are you on? Sync Pro for Android shows the text of flairs, including dual flairs on the CFB subs. It's pretty great.
Edit: This is what I see.
Even though I volunteered for posting the threads, I'm happy I don't have to do it anymore today. I'm tired and I've got to be up at 5am tomorrow.
In other news, this 5 year old landed a skateboarding trick I've never been able to do in all of my 28 years.

Basically, since figs are pollinated internally and the wasps can't escape, when they accidentally go into the figs we eat instead of the ones we don't, they get stuck and die in there.
Fancy a fig?
Try these
I have a mattress pad & the fitted sheet slides off without them
I've got a ton of favorites but I was thinking about re-reading <em>The Relic</em> because it's about a crazy monster in the natural history museum in New York! It's a fun book :))
I'm such a sap for sister stuff that I even actually bought my sister this Frozen storybook.
And yes! I finished Jessica Jones. I LOVED IT. It was so great. One of the best things that Marvel has done, TV or movie.
Kongs are awesome. These things last a surprisingly long time. They die eventually, but I've seen one last a month.
I've heard that Mykonos and Santorini are incredibly touristy and crowded, and that you would have more fun if you went to one of the Greek islands that isn't accessible by air. I've also heard Athens is kind of dirty and not great to visit, but you're probably going to be spending most of your time in Athens in museums, so who really gives a shit.
> But a nice quiet weekend does sound pretty tempting too...
That was kind of my thought process. It's probably too cold to do a lot of walking around any cities up there. But if you could find a cute little cottage near the beach somewhere, you could have a nice relaxing/romantic weekend. It'd probably feel really secluded out towards Montauk or the Hamptons, but I think that a lot of the business are seasonal out there so there might not be much else to do. Virginia Beach would have more if you wanted to get out of the house.
EDIT: I mean, this place is only $10,000 a night. MEGA BARGAIN.
yeah, have you ever seen the Eagles doc that is on Netflix? It's dominated by Henley and Frey (obviously) but they get into Meisner's worrying about the notes in Take It To The Limit pretty far. Meisner seemed very much to not want that spotlight, and then it being their biggest ever hit to date, and him hitting that high note to close it kind of forced the hand of the band once it was out there.
It all ended in a fight in which Meisner quit, and he's never gotten the recognition he deserves for those early records they did, and was purposefully excluded by Henley and Frey from the Eagles getting Kennedy Center Awards a few years ago, along with Don Felder, which was really shitty of the rest of the group to leave them out IMO.
Yeah they are saying the disease does best in an absolute humidity <40% and does poorly >80%.
Every study I've seen shows a heat but primarily a humidity effect. Also the natural UV killing of COVID-19 also is there over the summer.
If you haven't heard of it, SlingTV is a streaming service that has ESPN, and others depending on the package. It'd be cheaper, and it's a monthly subscription, so you won't be locked into a long cable contract. I don't have any personal experience with it, but it sounds like it may fit your needs and be worth checking out.
Average high of 68 and low of 37 source I went over the summer two years ago and it was quite hot maybe /u/Qurtys_Lyn has a more concrete answer since he lives in UT?
That's some bullshit. Fine if they don't want to deal with PCI requirements and audits and stuff, but that's why companies like Braintree exist. Braintree literally exists so that any fuccboi can accept credit card payment on their site and not have to worry about anything.
The biggest one for me is "Launchy" application launcher. If it weren't for having to use other people's machines I could say I haven't touched the "Start" menu in over 3 years. And when I do have to use a foreign machine I'm lost without it. So awkward.
Another one for me would be KeePass. Between work, client systems, personal there is no way I could keep up with the passwords. It allows hotkey username/password entry into any windows (RDP, PuTTy, whatever) and has saved me countless man-hours over the last 8 years.
Those are items 1 and 2 that i install on any new machine.
Orange and Blue is their gross choice of colors for the two main packages. Check out this main page. They have tabs for Orange vs Blue vs Orange and Blue.
Ehhhh.... while New Jersey has lower prices than the national average, it is certainly not the cheapest. Here is a graph comparing New Jersey to South Carolina, with the national average for reference. New Jersey comes out to be 16th best.
They loved the $5 plastic one I gave them years ago and mentioned it a lot. Have you used any nicer than that? (But less than one fucking thousand dollars because apparently that's totally a thing.)
Buy and read all of these: https://www.amazon.com/Art-Woodworking-Complete-Time-Life/dp/B00EGDDDVK (really, if anybody bought these for me it might be my favorite gift ever, they're the OG of learning techniques) Because I like y'all, here are the pdfs: http://woodtools.nov.ru/big/TAOW/The_Art_Of_Woodworking.htm
We've also got some great people in this sub to help you out. :)
Literally for the absolute beginner, I recommend getting a few power tools: Circular saw, miter saw, power drill and impact driver. With those 4, you can build just about anything out of 2x4s and plywood, and use those projects to get better..
There are plenty of plans available out there, too, mostly for free, or often for a modest cost (Under $20, usually $2-3)
Some quick tips:
Instead of a waterproof case that adds bulk and is useless 90% of the time, why not look at a phone-sized dry sack.
I use this one from Amazon that's frequently on sale. It fits absurdly sized phones, works well, and still allows easy screen access.
I'm attempting to track down a hard plastic kid pool for Wheatley so he can stay cool this summer without having to be cooped up indoors. Why doesn't anyone sell those any more? I can't even find them on Amazon (they had one.....it was $267 for a 5' diameter little kid pool....seriously?)
Finally found out that Toys R Us still sells them. Too bad we don't have one of those and they don't offer shipping for them :/. Guess Wheatley won't have one until I can go visit my parents in two weeks.
OMG. I'm flipping through my amazon wishlists... and I found this
I have a special love affair with blankets and it's taking every fiber of my being to not order it.
They lasted me about...3 weeks. If I'm being particularly lazy, I'll eat cereal for lunch as well as breakfast. I probably bought more Lucky Charms in those 3 weeks than any other time in my life. It was glorious.
I think you can get them on Amazon as well.
Edit: Yup!
One of my customers is a truck stop that owns its own towing company and shop. They had a t-shirt awhile back that had a wolf standing stoically in the mist, with a Kenworth W900 pulling a refrigerated trailer through the foreground.
Almost every flight I get on, I bring a neck pillow. I have never once used said neck pillow, but I've carted it around the US with me.
I will need to sleep on my red eye to London, so realistically I will need said neck pillow. However, for some reason I am finding myself browsing Amazon for a new neck pillow even though I have one that's perfectly fine.
My brain: but this one rolls up.
A quick reminder that Amazon sells a limited selection of Hawaiian Sun crack juices
It's the name of the straps by ENO. $20 on Amazon. I bought these and a pack of six heavy duty carabiners five years ago and have been using them heavily ever since!
I have some ideas to help, not sure if any of them will work but here it goes
Or maybe get a cheap toaster oven? But as someone who set one of those on fire by double toasting toast, don’t leave it unattended for too long.
50 Shades of Chicken My old coworker gave this out for the company's white elephant a couple years back with some kitchen gadgets to go with it and it got stolen a couple of times.
I need to start thinking of Christmas gifts, I'm not sure if I'm going down to SC for Christmas this year but I am going back down in maybe a month or so, if I can leave stuff for my mom to open that would work out.
There's usually blackout maps that come out a few days before the games.
As a workaround, I've used Hotspot Shield in the past with a lot of success. Essentially it makes you appear to the site as if you're in a different location
Private Internet Access. It was good service for the price and I had coworkers recommend it, so I knew it worked for my office. I just really use it for a media tunnel, so utmost privacy isn't a big concern, but I've heard it's good for that, too. Speed is decent, but I don't do a ton of data intensive stuff on it.
The only problem I discovered so far (today, actually) is that a couple of the IPs are blocked on KnowYourMeme, of all places. No idea why!
I took intro to religion in college and loved it. We read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance for class. I also thought my professor was hot though and that helped. We even kept in touch for a little while after the semester. He told all his students they could meet him for a cup of coffee whenever, I should have taken him up on it and then tried to charm him. Oh well.
I have Quiet coming today! Can't wait to start it. I talked about this in cfbotreads but I am currently reading The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer and it's awesome. Seriously.
Ummm otherwise...The Power of Habit is also awesome. Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. I got about halfway through The Secret Life of Pronouns: What Our Words Say About Us and then I got busy so I need to start over sometime.
Obviously the Harry Potter series.
Next on my list after Quiet is This House of Sky by Ivan Doig.
They're not that much better in economy. That's Emirates' economy, and it looks just about the same as what I've seen on Air Canada and Iberia.
On newer planes, even the American carriers have the individual TV screens and stuff. The problem the American carriers have is that Emirates and Etihad &c are new airlines, so they've had to buy all of their planes in an age when you can get all those features, while the American carriers already have a bunch of airplanes for international routes that are old enough to not have them, and retrofitting all the interiors is expensive. When they buy the new planes, they get them looking like Emirates in economy.
It's the classes above that where they start shitting on the American carriers.
I wonder if BITS needs to be cleared.... Sometimes that has issues. Are you running Outlook on that machine?
edit: I just found this post which suggests a neat tool. Maybe worth trying?
We're faced with the same debate in New Orleans. We have monuments honoring Beauregard, Davis, and Lee at various places. Lee and Davis have no ties to the city. People just want to celebrate the Confederacy and the South.
I want the Lee and Davis statues removed and Jeff Davis Pkwy and Lee Circle renamed. It's a disgrace, in my opinion.
I have no opinions about the Beauregard statue because he at least has ties to the state and city.
Edit: States also celebrate the birthday of Jefferson Davis. Do you really think that's just about "remembering history" and not celebrating the damn man? Same for Robert E. Lee Days
I'm picking out strippers for my best friend's bachelor party. I promised his fiancee I'd make him wear protection.
I'm a big fan of Liquid IV highly recommend the passion fruit flavor, the strawberry one is kind of weird.
A big crux in the Disney governance issue is that the property spans two different counties.
I remember a case in my county about homeowners trying to sue a neighboring county for not responding to their house fire because the neighboring county fire department was closer to the house in question than the nearest fire station in the county the house was located in. I think back to that case and what could happen if Disney is forced into using public services from two different counties. Having Reedy Creek took care of some headaches like this.
It's been a while since I've delved into Reedy Creek, but I read a really good book on it when I took an urban planning politics class way back in the day: Married to the Mouse
Try something like this: https://justgetflux.com/
It adjusts your computer screen to the lighting, time of day, and other cool stuff. It's a little strange getting used to the pale red hue, but it's insanely helpful for eye strain if you use a computer all day.
You can buy it on amazon or see if your library has it. I'm allowed to download a certain number of pages a day from the book per the terms of my school library's agreement with the publisher, so I download my daily allotment and will combine everything into one PDF when I'm done.
All those songs about rain and you forget the best one, IMHO.

Edit: now see /u/August__West's comment with it, please disregard.
I've been to them all!
My favorite is St. Lucia. Definitely check out the volcano if you have time. If you like hiking, there's a lot of great trails. Just overall beautiful place.
St. Maarten has a lot of cool shopping if you or your SO are into that. If not, it's a French island so DELICIOUS food.
St. Thomas has Honeymoon Beach, which is an amazing place to snorkle. St. Thomas is a lot more touristy in my opinion than any of the others listed.
I don't remember St. Kitts and Barbados specific things, but I'm going to email my dad and ask him for his recommendations. My dad and stepmom live part of the year in the Caribbean (in Grenada) and they've traveled pretty extensively. I'll PM whatever they tell me!
Most of all: enjoy!
It's hockey season! Anyone else watching tonight?
I'm watching the Leafs and Sens game, and so far in the first period there have been four goals and a fight. Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner look legit too
My buddy has the Bowflex 552 adjustable dumbbells. I like them, a lot. But they’re pricey.
A good bench with these would hit a lot of the major exercises. Flies, presses, bent over rows, weighted lunges, and goblet squats. Throw in some resistance bands and a good yoga mat and you’d be set.
This bench would even work you do some solid core exercises, too.
Did you guys ever have those hippety hop toys as a kid? They're like yoga balls with a handle and you can hop around on them?
Well I just found an adult-sized dinosaur hippety hop and I can't come up with any reason I shouldn't buy it.
Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin. I wouldn't recommend it, but I have to read it for my Literature course. For when I have some free time, I have been reading A History of the World in 6 Glasses. Much more enjoyable.
