I was exactly like you two years ago. The multiple alarm thing never worked for me. :/ If you have Android, you're in luck. Use this alarm app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
Seriously. I Can't Wake Up saved my career. It's endlessly customizable. If you enable the Quit Block setting, it uses device administrator privileges to prevent you from exiting the alarm, shutting the phone down, or doing anything else until you perform a customizable amount of tasks of varying difficulties. This could include solving math equations, playing a matching game, scanning a QR code, sorting a list, Etc... It won't stop blasting the alarm sound until you finally disable it. And if you're worried about waking anyone else up, it has a setting to shut off of the alarm volume while you're solving the tasks, but it turns on again if you stop.
If somehow you get past all that and fall asleep again, it has an awake check setting. It'll verify you're still awake after 5 minutes. If not, you start the process all over again, and just the thought of that should scare you awake. It does for me.
Another big help is Philips Hue light bulbs. They're wifi controlled, so they have an app. I have three in my room. I set them up to fade in to full brightness over 30 minutes, emulating a sunrise of sorts. If you're concerned about cost, use Philips hue white. They can't change colors, but they have all the other features or color bulbs.
This all may seem a little excessive, but it's the only way I found that I can be wide awake in 10 minutes flat. I haven't been late in quite a long time.
I hope at least a part of this can help you out!
I use I can't wake up. It's similar and has lots of options. (I'm not affiliated, this app just cured my snooze habit 100%.)
A good one is "I Can't Wake Up". I use it all the time because I'm a heavy sleeper. It doesn't detect movement but it does have multiple different things it requires you to do.
I use an app called I Can't Wake Up that is an alarm clock where you have to do tasks to shut it off. Tasks include doing math problems, shaking your phone, but the best one is the barcode scanner. You program in barcodes off of stuff in your house, and then you have to re-scan them to shut it off. Having to get out of bed, walk into the next room, find the item you're looking for, and then scanning it gives me enough out-of-bed time where I don't go back to sleep after.
Use I Can't Wake Up! Link It is literally the only thing that works for me. It locks you in the alarm and you can't even use the home button or restart to get out of it.
Download I Can't Wake Up! for Android. You set it up so you have to solve a puzzle based on what difficulty and challenge you set.
As I'm solving my puzzle I get angry at my phone because I could be snoozing instead. I guess it works...
If I may offer a suggestion, maybe an alarm app like this would be something that could help him?
I started using it years ago because I'd just sleep through literally everything. You can set it to make you do puzzles so you can't just hit it and go back to sleep. There are other apps like it out there, I just like this one.
When they did that, I went and found I Can't Wake Up! Alarm Clock, which pretty much has everything that I liked about the old Alarm Clock Xtreme, including the option to disable snooze. It infuriates me that they removed that.
I don't know if it's the one he uses. But I have this one where you can set a bar code to scan to turn it off. I have to get up and scan the bar code of my bathroom soap dispenser to finally get the thing to shut up. It sucks, but it definitely works.
edit: realized I forgot the link
I had this horrible thing as a kid - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_PW7at6UGM
I use this now - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock&hl=en_US
Requires you to solve math problems, puzzles, scan a barcode, shake the phone for a certain amount of time, etc... to end the alarm. You can combine multiple challenges. You can program an "awake test" a couple of minutes after the alarm to make sure you didn't go back to sleep.
It installs as a device administrator so it's impossible to kill the program or minimize the alarm. It will even restart automatically if you reboot your phone.
There's something better. App has a multiple possible tasks to do in order to turn alarm off.
but best things are built in alarm sounds. loud and obnoxious. I really hate/love them
I use this app. It has a similar concept, but additional activities that you can set including concentration, Simon Says and putting numbers in order.
One that I should probably set up involves scanning a UPC bar code when setting up the alarm, then having to scan that same bar code in order to shut off the alarm. This requires getting up which helps wake you up.
I highly recommend the I Can't Wake Up or similar challenge alarm apps. They've saved me countless times after basic alarms stopped working.
Another great (free!) one that I use for Android is called I Can't Wake Up!. It makes you do puzzles before the alarm will go off and you can change the settings so that it WON'T go off until you do all the puzzles. You can even make it so that the app won't let you turn your phone off until the puzzles are done. It's been a total game-changer for me!
I used to, but I have 2 strategies that have made my mornings a success.
1) I read this in an ADHD blog - put your medicine on your nightstand with a glass of water the night before. When your alarm first rings, take it. This is especially helpful if you tend to snooze alarms
2) This alarm clock for android called I can't wake up changed my life. I set it up so I need to answer 2 simple math problems to turn it off. There are various other tasks you can choose - like typing random characters or scanning a barcode somewhere in your house. As a fail safe, even if you solve the puzzles you can have it re-alarm in a few minutes to make sure you're actually awake.
Hey OP, if you have an android phone try out this alarm app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
I usually sleep through alarms but I have yet to sleep through an alarm that I set through this app
You're on the wrong reddit. This is for Gear VR users.
However just look on the Play store.
E.g. this one can't be easily skipped
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
Heute Morgen die „scanne einen Barcode“-Funktion meiner Wecker-App „I can't wake up“ benutzt. Bin diesmal so gut rausgekommen wie lange nicht mehr :) Sonst läge ich jetzt noch im Bett, bin aber jetzt schon mit frühstücken fertig, also guter Start in den Tag und die Woche. Heute Mittag erste mal Bachelorarbeit mit meinem Betreuer besprechen, hab gutes Gefühl. Mal schauen, was er von meinen Ideen hält.
I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock if you're on iOS try searching I can't wake up alarm clock
its super helpful for me, there's a math option but there are others I prefer, one of them is a matching game and there's one where you need to tap on the capital city of the country it gives you. theres even one where you print out a barcode and you can put it in the bathroom or something and the alarm won't go off until you take a picture of it. theres several options which is good because if you get too adjusted to a certain task, you can just pick a new one. all of the tasks have difficulty adjustments.
I also recommend changing your alarm sound/song semi frequently if you haven't tried that already!
Try this app, never fails me.
It doesn't solve the restart thing though, it's for the other situations where the volume is turned down or such.
I struggle with the same exact thing, and it is excruciating. If you have an Android phone, I can help you. This app has saved my life on numerous occasions and is a must have for an alarm that is impossible to skip. You are not physically able to shut down the phone or skip the alarm until you solve puzzles (this is called Quit Block, it can be enabled in the app settings), do math, or scan specific barcodes with your camera. There are so many customization options that you can spend a good half an hour just messing with it to tailor the alarm to your exact needs. Good luck! Edit: Spelling
Only way I could wake up for my job was to use this app which made me scan a barcode to turn off the alarm. I set the barcode to something on the top shelf in the pantry in my kitchen. Hardest part of getting up for a shitty job is standing up out of bed, after which it's like, okay I'm up, I'll get dressed, I'll go.
I try to tell people about this app because I honestly think a lot of people need it. It's called I can't wake up. These days I just do memory puzzle (flip different colored cards to match the colors, you know the game) which takes a few seconds and pulls me out of my sleep more than a damn snooze button.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
Its this. I have it and it works so well when you use memory and puzzle. Dont use maths because it doesnt follow bidmas so you wake up fucked and confused
This is what I use and its great,
Set multiple alarms,
Set tasks to not just turn off the alarm,
Eg shake your phone til your awake, or scan the bar code of coffee in the kitchen and so much more,
Very versatile
Also set alarm through Google home or Bluetooth speakers
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
I use this app, its very versatile, It can make you do tasks before allowing it turn off, if you're worried about waking people, set it to vibrate in your pillow,
If this then that app with a smart light bulb to blink lights,
Allows you to play YouTube or Spotify or play lists, I usually have a podcast playing to wake up to people chatter,
My favourite way of turning off the alarm is to set it to shake for a set time,
This way I'm shaking myself awake than just hitting a button
Try I Can't Wake Up. It works that way.
You can see filenames it played on the log in the settings (a feature I requested for the dev to add).
I don't think there are that many other alarm apps that can play a random music file.
I was looking up the alarm i saw years ago that shoots out pieces and can only be turned off when they are put back in, while looking for that I just found this app.... and downloaded it. It looks great.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
It's called I can't wake up!
But remember this, if you set you alarm for a time and snooze it - your starting your day off with a failure.
My wife drives mr bananas, her alarm goes off and she never wakes up so i'll have to shake her and she'll be like "I know, i was just about to turn it off" but she never does, i'll wait sometimes for 5 min, no deal though and as soon as you wake her she gets angry like I know i was just about too. It pisses me off when she'll set the alarm for 5:00 with the intention of getting up by 6:30 it's like torture, i'll go to kitchen and hear alarm going off for ages....
If you're on Android, you can try the one I use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
I use the memory matching one. I like it because it reduces the alarm volume while you're doing the puzzle, and even after you shut it off it'll go off again to make sure you didn't fall asleep.
If you dont need the sleep tracking features you can try I cant wake up!
If you enable the Quit Block option and enable the app as a device administrator it will prevent you from turning your phone off, switching apps etc.
The dev is pretty cool too, he added a feature I asked for in one of the latest updates.
The app Alarmy has this option too I think.
The I Can't Wake up! alarm clock app for android was life changing for me. You need to do a set of tasks in order to turn the alarm off. The options are tasks like solving simple math problems, a matching game, typing in a string of random characters, or scanning a particular barcode around the house.
By the time I solve 3 challenges, I'm generally awake enough to coax myself out of bed. On the off chance I'm not, there's a feature that will re-start the alarm after you've turned it off, and if you don't acknowledge it in 60 seconds the app will make you solve the challenges again.
I cant wake up app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock&hl=en
Set personalized puzzles or problems and the alarm quites while you work on it. And make it impossible (hard) to snooze or disregard the alarm.
I have it set to go off at 5am. 1) I need to shake it phone vigoruisly for about 30 seconds 2) I answer 6 simple but multi step math problems (its multiple choice but theres 10 choices that switch places after a guess) 3) I match capitol cities to their countries. (same guess/switch rule) 4) 5 Min later there is always another alarm in case I lay back down after or just sit on the couch and do nothing. You just swipe to end it but it shocks me back to activity if I stopped.
Theres also an option for a QR/BAR code scan so you can have the alarm going off until you get to the coffee pot and scan a preprinted QR code.
Right now I am toying with the idea of putting a QR code on the mailbox so I have to get outside, really force me to get all the way to the road and maybe I wont skip morning runs as often.
I love this app, (not a payed supporter) its my cheater way to get to self discipline.
EDIT: You can also have it open an APP or picture as soon as the alarm is done. So have mapmyrun or a playlist just pop up and start is great to get yourself going
I am not a morning person, but I have to run in the morning to avoid the heat of the tropics. My regular alarm didn't motivate me enough, so I had to download this one.
Now I'm up a little before 5 a.m. and ideally out the door 10-15 minutes later.
As several other posters have noted, it really helps to have all of your clothes and gear ready the night before.
I listen to metal myself, and "heavy music" can literally put me to sleep.
But I think I solved my problems with this app:
WAKE ME UP INSIDE
And why are you thanking someone for reading your attempt to help them, that silly.
Here's a great Android alarm too! I use it and I will not ever stop. You can't close it out at all if you give it the right permissions. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock&hl=en
Odd... mine says "Default Ringtone (Oxygen)". I never rely on stock alarm clock anyways; I use I Can't Wake Up! Alarm Clock
I did and it still didn't help. My body would get up, walk across the room, turn it off, and get back into bed without me waking up. I'd wake up with the door being banged on 12 minutes after I was supposed to be in Rickover.
What ended up saving me was this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
It's one of those apps that makes you solve puzzles and shit to make sure you're up. There are many like it, but this one is mine (that I like the most). The best feature is the barcode scanner. You scan a barcode, say, the Cheerios in your pantry, and it will pop up for you to get your sleepy ass up and scan it with your phone if you want your alarm to shut off.
If you use your phone for an alarm (if you don't I suggest it) there are a ton of alarm apps that require you to do a task to turn off the alarm.
#notsponsored but I started using I Can't Wake Up and it really helped a lot. I used to have issues where I would "wake up," turn off my alarm and fall back asleep without even consciously realizing that I woke up.
Now I just set an alarm that:
There are other options also, there is even a setting that requires you to scan a barcode (that you can put in another room) with your phone camera to turn it off.
In addition to lots of great advice here worth incorporating into your routine, I would highly recommend some "smarter" alarms. Mine is set up in a way that can be turned off only by reading a barcode on my coffee machine. So I must jump off the bed, go to the kitchen, and read the barcode. Once there, by pressing the start button, I'm actually starting my day. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
You could try an alarm app that requires you to perform actions. I'm sure there are others, but I've been using I Can't Wake Up! for Android. You customize the alarms and it can require you to do something like arithmetic or memory games before you're allowed to disable the alarm.
Do you have an android phone? If so try this app, it's almost the only one that forces me to wake up. Just make every task the hardest level.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
Weird.
Maybe it is an Android OS-related issue? I have Samsung s20 fe with android version 12.
If alarmy issue doesn't stop then you can try using this app. It's pretty similar to alarmy and is even free. It has an option that disables the phone power off button similar to alarmy.
> Any tips on how to motivate yourself to ONLY nap 20 minutes? I guarantee once I lie down I’m not getting up for hours 😅 the motivation is so low

This app and place your phone across the room or far enough away that you have to walk to it.
Hey I'm not sure if you mean you have trouble waking up to an alarm or if you mean you just can't figure out how to set it correctly. For years I tried different alarm clocks but most of the time my body would get up, walk across the room and shut it off, and then get back in bed without me waking up. Made life in the military miserable for the first year or so.
I eventually found an app called I Can't Wake Up Alarm! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock&hl=en_US&gl=US
It's amazing. You customize it so you have to solve math problems, memory problems, small tile puzzles, etc., otherwise the alarm will keep going off. You can even scan barcodes (think your cereal box in the pantry) that you have to get up and go scan with your phone as one of the actions. The app is great!
I use an app called "I can't wake up." It let's you configure puzzles you must complete before the alarm can be disabled. One of the options is to scan a preset barcode, so you could set it as your toothpaste barcode or something and you'd need to go into the bathroom before the alarm could be turned off.
Link on Google play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
I used to use this app during college. You basically have to solve some kind of challenge that "requires" you to be awake.
Over time I got too smart for my own sake and could solve complex equations without actually waking up.
Keeping the alarm out of reach is probably a good solution.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
Loudest alarm ever that won't shut off unless you perform tasks like math or puzzles. I'm a heavy sleeper and this one always wakes me up
I've got an alarm app that has a mode I 100% cannot find any way to disable, can't turn off my phone or anything. Forces me to get out of bed and go scan a barcode in the kitchen. You could easily set up a few of these alarms to force you to stay up scanning barcodes for 10 minutes.
Not sure if I'm allowed to share but here's the app I use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
I use an app called I can't wake up Alarm Clock. I've found that setting two alarms works best for me: one to wake me up initially that can just be turned off, and a second around 10 minutes later that I need to do tasks to turn off. This app also has a feature called the awake test, which will check if I'm awake a few minutes after the alarm goes off, and if I don't answer, the alarm goes off again (and you have to do the tasks again).
Get "I can't wake up!" the best alarm ever for the heavy sleepers.
Has saved my butt multiple times.
I found the "I can't wake up!" app recently for my phone. And it's the best thing I've used.
It's basically am alarm that you can't turn off without completing some kind of puzzle or activity.
It will then check again after 5 mins that you haven't gone back to sleep.
Ive ended up choosing the memory match puzzle, as some of the other choices, such as answering simple maths questions, were too hard for my brain when waking up, and I couldn't turn the alarm off....lol
Oh, I almost forgot. Here's the link on Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock&hl=en_US&gl=US
I think it's available for iPhone also
I used to struggle with sleep too. At some point I started using the I Can't Wake Up! Alarm Clock to wake up earlier (4 AM). A couple of weeks of me doing this, I got easier for me to wake up early, and I naturally went to sleep earlier too.
Now, a couple of years later after using that app, I can wake up before 5 AM on my own, without an alarm!
I haven't used that app for a while. And this month I actually purchased an old-school alarm clock, and I've started charging my phone outside my bedroom. This stops me from web surfing at night before bed and first thing in the morning. That helps too.
Good luck!!!
You may be disabling it in your sleep. I use to have this problem, and it sounds like you are using your phone like I do.
I did both of these things and would wake up halfway through tasks. Eventually I started waking up the moment I got out of bed and can use regular alarms now.
Here's a tip for the future. Download an alarm app where you have to complete a task to turn it off. You can use this only when you have tests but I use it as my normal alarm cause I'm a heavy sleeper.
If you have Android I recommend this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
Been using it for years and it works really well. You can have a barcode scan task and use a barcode in your washroom so you actually have to get up. They also have an awake test where they will ask if you're actually up a set time after you turn off the alarm but I don't use that feature. They have an iOS version but I don't remember it being very good (not maintained and iOS has restrictions so the alarm can't show a screen while the app is not opened) but I'm sure there are other apps that do the same thing.
I used to have this app on my phone that would give me different tasks to do so I could turn off the alarm. You couldn't just hit the sneeze button and if you ignored the tasks the alarm wouldn't stop playing and would get louder and louder. She should give it a try, it will drive you both bananas at the beginning but by the end I was so traumatized by the experience that I'd be up and functioning at the first second of the alarm.
> Try not to watch TV or do a lot of screen time in bed (I know, it's hard)
For limiting screen time in bed after waking up, I find this to be helpful:
I highly recommend the I Can't Wake Up! Alarm Clock. It's got a bunch of options that make you perform tasks before allowing you to snooze or turn off the alarm. Tasks include doing sums, shaking your phone, or scanning a barcode somewhere in your room.
This app is the only thing that has consistency gotten me out of bed on time. I’ve been using it for years. Makes you scan a barcode in your bathroom.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock&hl=en_US
I Can't Wake Up! The Repeat Task and the Rewrite Task are the two I can't do in my sleep. Everything else has a trick that will get you through when you are half awake. Technically the Awake Test makes it 2 alarms, but only if you sleep through the test.
Anyway, this is the app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/i-cant-wake-up-alarm-clock/id733590762
I wonder how bad is it. I know the fewer you have, the better. What's the worst it could do?
This is what I used for unturnoffabke alarm.
(I can't wake up)[https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock]
There's an option you have to scan a specific barcode to turn it off.
Set it up with a barcode and then burn the barcode
Some very loud sounds built in.
If you set it up right You literally can not turn it off. There's options to "give up" on tasks after 5 or 10 minutes but you can disable this
There are apps like I Can't Wake Up and others (I'm sure iOS has apps that do this as well) that force you to scan a QR code or barcode to deactivate the alarm. What I've done in the past is stick a QR code to my bathroom mirror so that the alarm will still ring on my phone, but I need to walk to the bathroom to deactivate it
The alarm app I use (I Can't Wake Up!) allows for many different "Tasks" to shut off your alarm, and a ton of ways to protect yourself from disabling it (up to becoming an Admin App which will stop you from being able to shut it off.) Also, it can override your phone's volume so no matter what you have it set to, the alarm will sound. It can even detect that a restart happened (power outage, scheduled restart, whatever) and resume the alarm as soon as the phone turns back on.
But there's only one task I truly believe you need, and I swear by it. It's the Barcode task. You scan a barcode to save it into the system, put the barcode somewhere far away from the phone (for example, mine is in the kitchen pinned to the wall in an inconspicuous corner) and to turn off the alarm you have to get up and scan the barcode.
You have been forced from your bed, probably had to turn on a light or two to get to the barcode, and are now in a completely different room.
I've never had to use a snooze button since. I've hated snoozing all my life, because you aren't really getting any more rest in the short amount of time you set your snooze... in fact, if you plan your alarms out to allow snoozing time, you've cut your sleeping time short. That's dumb. It takes about 5 minutes of reading up on REM and sleep cycles to realize your body is doing nothing with those few extra minutes you try to doze back off.
Get all the sleep you can, and get a good alarm clock or app that works for you without snoozing.
The one I use is called "I can't wake up!" and it has math, barcode scanning, memory, and a few more. It even has a double check feature where a second alarm goes off a few minutes later to make sure you're awake and if you miss it, the first alarm turns back on.
It's honestly the best alarm I've used so far.
The one I've used is I Can't Wake Up Free. The ads pretty much only fire after I deactivate the alarm and then I can just back out of them.
This is the one I use for Android. You can scan barcodes/QR codes and then have it so the alarm will continue until the barcode is scanned. I set it to my toothpaste, shampoo, and the trash can in the bathroom. It definitely works, albeit if I forget to turn it off on a day that I can sleep in it really fucks up the "sleeping in" thing.
Ultimately you just need to get the right amount of sleep every night. You can't substitute that. That's why you can't wake up. Your body is forcing you to sleep. Also only have 1 alarm set. Having multiple alarms conditions your body to ignore them. But I have this problem too of getting enough sleep and I'm trying to work on it, but I've found this app helps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
It's basically an alarm clock that keeps going off until you finished the puzzles you've set. It stays quiet as your doing the puzzles, but if you don't do anything for like 3 seconds it starts going off again full force. I recommend using the barcode one, as it forces you to scan a barcode. You can place that barcode anywhere in the room, forcing you to get up. Hope this helps!
I can't wake up! It's an alarm clock that has you do puzzles or other tasks before it will shut down, and you can set it so that it won't let you turn it off without pretty much pulling out the battery.
I love this and it's the only way I get up in the mornings.
edit: added link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droom.sleepIfUCan&hl=en
I use the free versions. Be warned though: Alarmy is fucking loud and it will wake you up during REM Sleep. Slightly unpleasant to say the least. I can't' wake up is good until you get used to the patterns and just half do the challenges. Mix up which ones you do so you don't cheat like I ended up doing...and then falling back asleep.
I would hit snooze while half asleep and then oversleep before I got this. I can set a task I have to complete for each alarm I set. Maths problems, remember patterns etc. I use one where I have to shake the entire phone for about 15 seconds just to get the option to turn the alarm off.
My half awake brain found out once that it changes the volume to max if you try to turn it down.
There is a free one that can sometimes show an advert after you shut off the alarm, but it's saved my arse a few times in the morning.
Get an alarm app for your phone that requires you to do tasks to get the alarm to shut off. I like I can't wake up! You can personalize the alarm tone, set what tasks in what order and how big you want the task to be (ex: order numbers, how many numbers?). There's one where you have to scan a barcode of specific items. You can set the barcodes to be stuff that's not in your bedroom, so you have to get up to scan them. There's even an awake test. After a certain amount of time, it checks to see if you're awake with a message. You press the button if you are. If you've gone back to sleep after shutting off the alarm, it starts the alarm up again.
I use I can't wake up for android. I have to do a series of puzzles before the alarm will turn off.
Works for me every morning!
Idk if you have issues with pressing your snooze button while you're asleep (and end up being late) but I did...
Started using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock&hl=en
Now I either have to A) Do some thought problems or B) Break my phone to get the alarm to stop. :)
If you have an android phone, try using this alarm app. It lets you set scanning a particular UPC to be the only thing that turns off your alarm. Then set that UPC to be your shampoo or something else in your shower.

Edit: I'm an idiot and forgot to include the link initially.
Thanks for the tip, this app helped a lot on its own though:
WAKE ME UP (INSIDE)
I've been adding so many alarms and none of it was working, it just ends up with me either vaguely remembering turning off a bunch of alarms as if it was a dream, or not remembering anything at all. And I already set my alarms at 90 minute intervals, so I have that covered. Thanks, though.
About waking up early:
I had the same problem, then I found the app I Can't Wake Up!. It forces you to do different brain exercises (math, memory, typing) and you can combine them as you want and vary the difficulty. I'm usually too awake after that to sleep in again.
About motivation:
You mentioned in your comment that you really enjoy watching series/play games. Use these as rewards. Set some goals for your day (do this, plan that) and ONLY watch the series when you have reached those goals.
If you really want to work on your motivation, get a book or something like that about self-motivation. There are a lot of techniques (like that goal/reward system above), which can be selected for an individuall programm since every method has a different impact on different people. Unfortunately, I can't tell you more detailed stuff about that since I only heard about that from a mental trainer and didn't have the time to look into it myself.
Check out this one. It has the option for a 5 minute follow up - 60secs to swipe down saying you're actually awake or else the original alarm goes off again:

Not sure if available for iOS.
We have better alarm-technology these days than "put the alarm across the room".
I had trouble with turning my alarm off in my sleep. I'd wake up late and have zero memory of my alarm ever going off, but I like having my phone next to me in bed. So I use this alarm clock app. It has a ton of options, but all I use is the barcode scanning option. To turn off the alarm, you have to scan a pre-determined barcode, and in my bathroom I have a printer barcode on the wall. If I have to get in the bathroom to turn off my alarm, there's no way I'm going back to sleep instead of just getting in the shower.
For anyone interested: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock&hl=en
There's other options for turning off the alarm, for example get random letters that you need to type to turn off the alarm. Requires focus in the morning while not being too hard, enough to wake you up. And also there's a setting that it starts a light tone 5-10 minutes later where you need to click the button if you're awake, as a safety measure to you falling asleep after turning off the alarm. If you don't react, in 5 minutes your alarm will again start ringing. Great app, definitely recommended!
12.30's too late if you're only getting to sleep hours later. But it's a very good thing you're able to adhere to a schedule.
Melatonin may assist with adjusting one's body clock, and help you get to sleep when you want to get to sleep. It's available without prescription but it's worth getting professional advice about or at least researching before trying it; be aware of the possible side-effects.
This android app may be useful.
I have a lot of problems with hitting snooze too many times or even worse getting up, silencing my alarm, and then falling back asleep, but not since I started using I Can't Wake Up! Super useful, super customizable.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
Math, questions, puzzles, and all infinitely customizable... you can adjust it so you have to scan the shampoo in your shower or something
If you have an Android, try this: I can't wake up alarm clock
Can be set to make you get out of bed and scan a barcode (say, the milk) to deactivate it. Undefeatable alarm.
I use I Can't Wake Up
Too good at math? AHHH IS THE CAPITAL OF GREENLAND Nûk or Nuuk. Is Kinshasa DR Congo or just Congo?
Learned everything from Carmen Sandiego? Repeat an eight button sequence on a 6x5 grid or do an annoyingly large memory match.
Memory somehow still blazingly good from a dead sleep? Try re-ordering numbers like one of those (*@)#$$#ing annoying slide puzzles.
Somehow master those? Then use the bar code scanner so you have to literally get up, walk downstairs, and scan your bag of coffee. Bonus, brew it now.
If none of those work, I would be seriously impressed if first thing in the morning you can solve the hard equation and still roll back over.
I Can't Wake Up! is an alarm clock that is both a. fucking annoying and b. has customize-able features where you have to answer math problems, solve a maze, violently shake the phone etc. in order to turn the alarm off. It is the only reason I ever made it to my morning classes last semester.
For people who don't want this but still want an amazing alarm, I recommend I Can't Wake Up. It has several puzzles, mainly like the game 'memory', which you can require to be solved before the alarm turns off. You can change the difficulty of the puzzles and enable/disable them at any time except when the alarm is going off. You can even set it up so that you need to scan a specific barcode to turn it off! I keep one taped to my bathroom mirror, and I've not slept in in ages.
Nice but I prefer I Can't Wake UP. I set it so that I have to go to the kitchen and then scan the bar-code on my jar of coffee granules. Well, I got that far so I might as well make a cup while I am there.
Get I Can't Wake Up! if you're on Android. It has various tasks that you have to complete before snoozing or turning off the alarm, one of which is barcode scanning. It also allows you to set it as a device administrator and then prevents you from turning off the alarm other than doing the tasks. About the only way to bypass it would be to remove the battery from the phone. It'll even interrupt you trying to turn the phone off.
Well I could recommend using the I Can't Wake Up! app which allows you to set how to deactivate it.
Since one manner is to violently shake the phone for a period of time, it satisfies our destructive urges and gets us awake!
I also set it to make me do math problems at one point because there's nothing that makes me solve double-digit multiplication in my head like an alarm that grows louder as I keep fucking up....
Finns även en liknande app som heter I can't wake up! I can't wake up!
Set multiple alarms. Maybe one at 8, one at 8:15, 8:20, and 8:30. I had the same problem. I would set an alarm and then fall back asleep. I had to set maybe 3-4 different alarms so that it would keep me awake and I would finally get out of bed. There's also a really helpful alarm app that makes you do different things (like math problems, spelling, solving a puzzle, etc.) to turn the alarm off so it helps to wake up your brain. I have an Android phone and used I Can't Wake Up! Alarm Clock, but there are a few other good alarm apps that are similar, like Alarm Clock Xtreme & Timer and Alarmy (Sleep If U Can)- alarm. Some people have also mentioned alarm apps that try to monitor your sleeping patterns, like SleepBot - Sleep Cycle Alarm, [Sleep Cycle](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blogspot.novalabsandroid.sleepeasy], and Sleep Cycle alarm clock (this is the only paid app which costs .99 cents), but I have never tried any of those, but they may be worth trying.
(Remember, when downloading apps, only download them from either the Google Play app (if you have Android) or the App Store/iTunes (if you have an iPhone). Downloading apps from any other place puts your phone at risk for getting viruses, malware, adware, and spyware.)
I've used it too - it's fantastic!
Just make sure if you use the barcode scan task, your barcodes are always available... If you're away from home, say for Thanksgiving or Christmas, and you don't have your bag of coffee from home with you, you're gonna have a bad time/wake everyone up/have to force-reset your phone. A, um, friend told me.
^(Protip: keep a copy of the barcodes in your wallet.)

That's what I use, you can program different tasks at different times. Maths being one.
I Can't Wake Up has a bunch of puzzles.
I had this problem so many times. I hated taking 8 AM classes and I had to do it several times over the years and it sucked every time. But I did learn of a few tricks that may help...
First, I'm assuming you have either an iPhone or Android phone, there are several apps that work really well for people like us. I personally have an Android phone so some of the apps I may have used, may not be available if you have an iPhone but I'll post links for both. Check out these links and try these apps. I have something that will beat everyone. This is the ultimate lifehack for ADHDers needing to remember to take meds.
This is the ONLY way I could function post college. Working early mornings and what not. This app was a life changer for me. The alarm will not turn off unless you actually scan the barcode or its been over an hour I think.
Hope this helps!
