Clocky Alarm Clock on Wheels (Original) | Extra Loud for Heavy Sleeper (Adult or Kid Bed-Room Robot Clockie) Funny, Rolling, Run-Away, Moving, Jumping (Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000TAS9XQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_G418216EVDF7S1GZPESP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
There's something better. App has a multiple possible tasks to do in order to turn alarm off.
but best things are built in alarm sounds. loud and obnoxious. I really hate/love them
Use Alarmy!
I know you're not looking for suggestions for apps, but I too have a very serious problem waking up and used to ask people to call me.
With this app, you take a picture of something, and for the alarm to turn off you need to take the exact same picture. My brother has it of the toilet. That's too easy for me as I'd just go back to bed - so in beginning I used to have it be of my car (!) - so that I literally had to walk outside for it to stop. Now it's of my coffee machine in the kitchen.
Do you ever worry about the chronic use of caffeine pills?
When you don't have any morning appointments, do you allow yourself to wake up naturally, or do you take a caffeine pill anyway?
I use some of your strategies as well. I'll set 3 alarms, all about 5 min apart. Drinking some cold water can help wake you up. I like turning the lights back on (or having a place that allows sunshine in the mornings)
I can suggest something for helping you go to sleep on time. I use flu.x to adjust the color temperature of my monitor so that it is synced with my area's dawn and dusk.
If you didn't know, the cooler color temperatures (bluish hue) is more stimulating and will keep you up at night. Warmer temperatures (reddish hue) will do that opposite.
When I started using flux, I went from regularly sleeping at 3 AM to yawning and getting cozy in bed by 11 PM.
You could try an alarm clock on wheels that rolls away when it goes off. You then have to get up to turn it off and once you’re up, you’re more likely to stay awake and can look at the sun/splash water etc like u/glassklokken suggests.
If you still have trouble, see your doctor to check for depression or a sleep disorder.
Wishing you the best with this, OP! Sleep issues are tough!
Try opening the link from your mobile device or try this:
I use the Sleep as Android app. There are a bunch of ways you can set it up, but I have it configured so that I have to scan a QR code to make my alarm stop ringing. I put the QR code on the fridge.
This feature is planned for my app Gentle Wakeup (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.changemystyle.gentlewakeup). I was thinking of taking a playlist where you can shuffle every day new, or shuffle once and then continue always at the last position. If anyone has ideas for cool shuffle feaurees feel free to tell me.
The app that got me out of bed was one where you have to scan a QR code to turn it off. Put the code in your bathroom or somewhere not close to the bed.
Hey! I dont think Kiwake is on android, but there's a similar app called Alarmy on the android that makes you take a picture of something away from your bed before it shuts off :)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droom.sleepIfUCan&hl=en
That’s actually a really cool idea.
However I live in NYC so I don’t have a car lmao. One thing I can think of is to put the key in my mail locker downstairs. But alarmy blares like a fucking banshee, and my roommate is going to hate me if I let that shit ring until I run downstairs to get the key and then back up to shut it off.
What do you think about this one? It’ll let me charge my phone too haha
This is what I use and its great,
Set multiple alarms,
Set tasks to not just turn off the alarm,
Eg shake your phone til your awake, or scan the bar code of coffee in the kitchen and so much more,
Very versatile
Also set alarm through Google home or Bluetooth speakers
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
I use this app, its very versatile, It can make you do tasks before allowing it turn off, if you're worried about waking people, set it to vibrate in your pillow,
If this then that app with a smart light bulb to blink lights,
Allows you to play YouTube or Spotify or play lists, I usually have a podcast playing to wake up to people chatter,
My favourite way of turning off the alarm is to set it to shake for a set time,
This way I'm shaking myself awake than just hitting a button
I really don't think that could be helping matters. I used to fall asleep with the TV on (sometimes it would take 3 or 4 hours) and it absolutely wrecks the quality of your sleep due to the stimulation it's giving to your brain as well as the blue light it emits. I would recommend swapping the TV for a bath/shower followed by 30 mins to an hour of reading (a book/kindle) and absolutely no screen time from bathing to waking up an the morning. And no alcohol at least 4 hours before bed.
keeping your sleep time and wake time completely consistent is critical as well. If you sometimes need to get up earlier then essentially you need to try and change your daily bed/wake up time to that earlier time. By the sounds of it it'll be a pretty horrible transition unfortunately!
In the morning get outside as soon as you can to get your eyes to absorb the sunlight which helps set your body clock and let your body know it's properly the daytime. And like someone else mentionned, get some exercise in. 30 mins minimum or an hours walking. And yes Vitamin levels might be a good idea. Finding a nutritionist who knows what he/she is doing is recommended though. I tried doing that by myself and just failed.
I read/listened to an the below book which helped me understand sleep and inspired me to change my sleep habits after really suffering for over a decade and it's changed my life!
Well it affects your mood. So it’s all tied together, diet, exercise, etc - into mood. I also struggle with finding a sleep schedule but even something as simple as cleaning your room / house can put you in a better mood which will help you fall asleep. The biggest thing for me is if I wake up early , and am doing lots of physically demanding activities like hiking biking and working out , I will pass out before my bedtime. this is one lamp alarm I found but I haven’t done much research on it yet . Also watching shows / movies or my phone before bed is proven to keep you from falling asleep, so that’s a bad thing and something I struggle with.
I take artificial tears (lubricating eye drops) every morning for my dry eye (which is caused by other medical conditions but that’s irrelevant). If your looking to get some, my eye doctor said any eye drops that are NOT redness relief and just for lubricating are good. If you try a brand and don’t like how they make your eyes feel, try another one (she sent me off with a bunch of samples). Also it’s completely fine if the eye drops have artificial preservatives so long you aren’t using them more than like 4 times a day. Other things to consider are gel drops, eye compresses, and/or sleeping masks. But yea, dry eye’s a bitch.
Here’s the eye drops I use: https://www.amazon.com/Refresh-Relieva-Lubricant-Drops-Sterile/dp/B07VYMTVM5?th=1&psc=1 (might be a lot cheaper at cvs or something)
As for the headaches, I get morning headaches every day and there’s not much to do about it. Taking an aleve or any OTC painkiller helps but usually if I can already get out of bed and shower the headache is gone by then, and I found smoking a little weed as soon as I get up helped tremendously but obviously is not ideal most days.
I use the Sleep as Android app. It has a online radio option, so pretty much every morning is a unique alarm for myself. The app also lets you create your own playlists with your own music. Might be a premium option but it is only a one time cost.
I spend a lot of my time at my desk too, so I started searching for some stretching exercises or maybe some workouts to be carried at home. And I found them BOTH on a single android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bodyweight.fitness.free&hl=en
It shakes laziness out of my body in the morning.
Alarmy is the app that I use to get out of bed. It has a setting that stops you from shutting off your phone. You can also set it to use a picture for turning off the alarm. I have to go to the kitchen and snap a picture of the kitchen table to turn mine off.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droom.sleepIfUCan
This is possibly not helpful, but have you tried one of those alarm apps that tracks your movements and tries to wake you up during a light sleep phase?
Here's the one I used on Android for a while. It seemed to work well.
I like these. Switched the bulbs in my overhead fan lights to these and haven't gone back. They pair with alexa (or any smart device), are full RGB, controlled by voice or phone app, have timed wake-up settings, and even those funky lighting modes. Definitely helped in the mornings since I don't have to get out of bed to turn on/off the light before really waking up.
If being a night owl seems to work best for you, go for that. It may be good to evaluate what you are doing late at night, and see if you cannot instead, shift it to the morning. I would also recommend using f.lux if the work you are doing is critical and needs to be done at that time.
When I was much younger and had lots of issues waking up I used these: https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Alert-SBB500SS-Extra-Loud-Flashing/dp/B000OOWZUK?th=1
If a 113db alarm clock a shaking bed won’t wake you up then perhaps you should consider checking with your healthcare professional.
Stumbled across your post by chance, I've never even seen this sub! But you sound soooo similar to me and the struggles I had when I was younger, I felt I had to share my solution.
I use an app that works amazingly well for me. Try it out. The options are much better, and you can increase the difficulty of most, even the math ones (these work best for me, I'm really bad at math - so they're the only challenge I use now) plus, it overrides every setting on your phone, and won't go off unless you finish solving whatever challenges you have set for yourself.
Doing 25 ridiculously hard math problems has me successfully waking up at 6:30AM every day. It's amazing. I could never wake up on time prior to this, and I'm glad I found this solution. Better late than never, eh?
I was in a similar situation for a long time, and I learned that I likely have a circadian rhythm problem known as "Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder" (see r/DSPD for more information). I completely recognize the experience of not being able to sleep until very late. I've been improving since following the guide here for dealing with such issues. Melatonin alone was not effective for me, but small doses of sublingual melatonin in combination with long-exposure light therapy during the day (with these light glasses) and dark therapy at night has been helpful. I don't know whether or not you have a circadian rhythm problem or if that solution would be effective for you, but it may be worth looking into.
What about Clocky? CLOCKY Alarm Clock on Wheels (Original) | Extra Loud for Heavy Sleeper (Adult or Kid Bed-Room Robot Clockie) Funny, Rolling, Run-Away, Moving, Jumping (Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000TAS9XQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_A9SPTTP39FYTXD8A4MG2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This might be something to try. As long as you don’t mind a little shock therapy. Either that or you go see a doctor for sleep therapy…
Shock Clock 2 - Wearable Silent Vibrating/Zapping Alarm Clock for Heavy Sleepers, Hard of Hearing and Couples. Disable with Jumping Jacks/QR Code Scan https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P83FTR5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_V2KZNGJ318ENQFM8A6SZ
I've heard good things about alarm clocks with an additional vibrating pad that goes under the mattress. Like this. They're meant to be nearly impossible to ignore!
Once you are up, it also helps to get as much daylight exposure as you can straight after getting up. Getting a 10 minute outdoor walk in helps but I also use a daylight lamp sometimes (it needs to output at least 10,000 lumens of light, mine is made by Lumie) This helps regulate your circadian rhythm. Have you heard of Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder?
I empathize. This “bed shaking” alarm clock is as dreadful as it sounds, but it is the best/most reliable way I’ve found to make sure I get up. I can sleep through almost anything, but lot this.
Sonic Bomb Dual Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker, Black | Sonic Alert Vibrating Alarm Clock Heavy Sleepers, Battery Backup | Wake with a Shake https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KB8F9F5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_8PB6VAVQ0FQBARTCCNXQ
I have a light alarm that seems to work really well. It starts out very dim and gradually brightens over about 45 minutes. Once it's fully lit, the audio alarm sounds and I'm woken easily because the light has been pulling me out of that deep sleep. I find it especially helpful for days when I'm sleep deprived or have to get up before the sun. Now if I could only get it back from my bf's side of the bed . . .
I know the audio alarm part of it wouldn't do you any good, but you could sync the light with your vibrating alarm.
I'm not sure if this is the same model we have, but it's something like this. Philips Hf3470 Wake-up Light, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003XN4RIC/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_ExPeub14WN6S6
Looks like there are at least a few others on the market.
i dunno if you have a smartphone or not but you might want to use some alarm app that tries to monitor your sleep patterns and wake you up when you're more likely capable of being woken up, rather than when you're in deep sleep. I use Sleep as Android and it works pretty well.
Sure! This is the one I bought, but here are some other fancier options! You set the arrow to point at what time it is currently, and then push in the little buttons around the circle by the times you want the light on - for me all the buttons between 5am and 6am are pushed in. Turn your light on, and flip the switch on the side to the clock (timer). Your light will turn on at the times you set! I have one of those standing floor lamps with three lights, and I bought bright bulbs, so it is really bright. It's helped me so much!
Day 1
Day 1: I signed up for a behavior coach named Adam Reed who specializes in helping people wake up early. He has a ton of positive reviews on coach.me, so I figured I would sign up.
He gave me two tasks on day 1:
#1 Write down what my "why" is. Why do I want to wake up early? (and is it a "must" or a "should").
My answer:
I left my job a few months ago, and I gave myself a couple years to either go broke or make something happen. It's important for me to give it my all, because I may never have such freedom again in my life. I don't want to look back on this and feel like I did not give it my all. For me, waking up early is critical to having a productive day, and I know that 2 years of waking up early every day would WAY more productive than 2 years of waking up later every day.
#2 What's a reasonable time to wake up? (something that's not too much of a stretch, something I could do 3-5 times per week realistically.)
I chose the time of 7:30AM to start with.
I want to open this thread to anyone else who wants to join me. It would really motivate me if other people joined me. I'll post all the advice I get from various experts along the way, and I'll describe everything that I do, so that you can all do it with me.
Anyone who wants to join, day 1's challenge is to write your "why", and choose a reasonable wake up time.
I have been in a similar situation for the past couple of months and it has really effected my mental health. For the past week I’ve been waking up at 5am without snoozing (which is really big for me).
What helped me might not help you but always worth a try.
Hope this helps!
I got this one:
BUFFBEE Super Loud Alarm Clock for Heavy Sleepers with Bed Shaker, Flashing Alert Light, Full Range Dimmer, USB Charger, Battery Backup Vibrating Alar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GSPCSDN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_kd8M1RVGG5Fv8
I got one of these too except in a different style
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MY7NWGX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Works great
Get yourself a Sonic Bomb.
https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Alert-SBB500SS-Extra-Loud-Flashing/dp/B000OOWZUK
Definitely covers your requirement for 'loud' and has flashing lights as well. Not too expensive either.
Yea it's in my amazon history
it was £42 though not £30, it'll probably be cheaper in the US anyway though, everything is -.-
Has a USB charging port too, I never even noticed lmao.
Sounds like you need to wire a taser to your alarm clock lol.. Oh wow amazon actually sells something like that https://www.amazon.com/Shock-Clock-Wake-Up-Trainer/dp/B01EZ77IOY
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SH6JNXN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I really like this one I got a couple months ago - starts out low and builds up. A few different alarm sounds to choose from. Also adjustable brightness. Super easy to set time and alarm also.
I never used the nature sounds, just the alarm tone. But I know it does both the slowly brightening light and slowly increasing volume.
I have a philips alarm lamp that imitates sunlight really well!! Philips SmartSleep Wake-up Light, Colored Sunrise and Sunset Simulation, 5 Natural Sounds, FM Radio & Reading Lamp, Tap Snooze, HF3520/60 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0093162RM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_67J7Fb19J0HAY

Not cheap but Im a heavy sleeper and it saved me from being late for work so it paid for itself lol
Seconded, that app changed my life. I used to have the worst time getting out of bed for work and class and it almost led to a lot of trouble for me. A combination of Alarmy and a really loud alarm clock (I’d recommend this one with a bed shaker, only $20) was what saved me and helped me develop better morning habits. If I can do it, you can do it! You got this :)
Edit: for extra security, put the loud alarm clock across the room so you have to stand up out of bed to turn it off
What I do is this- at bedtime, put my phone in the lockbox and lock it. I put the key in the kitchen, it hangs on a little hook on the wall. Take the lockbox into my room, get into bed.
In the morning I get up and carry the lockbox into the kitchen and unlock it, removing the phone and turning off the alarm. The person who posted the idea on the sub said to get the key from across the house and then walk back to the room and unlock the box there, but that wouldn't work for me. For one thing, I'd be right next to my bed again and tempted to get in it, and for another, during all that time my alarm would be going off and my husband would probably murder me after a week of that haha. I find that once I'm up and in the kitchen, I'm UP. This way the alarm doesn't bother him any more than it would on a normal morning.
Cheers!
You're welcome! I hope it helps! The one thing to note is that there isn't really any way to plug your phone in while it's in the lockbox (no holes for cords or anything) so charge your phone up before bed. If your phone doesn't hold a charge very well, one of those portable battery packs fits in the lockbox with the phone as long as you don't get a really big one. I had to do that one night, I wasn't paying attention and my phone was at 20% when it was time for bed! I keep one of those battery packs charged just for general out-and-about usage (it comes in so handy at airports especially, not that I'm traveling currently...) and it worked a treat! Phone was fully charged in the morning lol.
I don't think Amazon sells this model directly anymore but you may can find it elsewhere. Philips Hf3470 Wake-up Light, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003XN4RIC/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_kUlKub1QSJQ0K
They do have one that is 69 bucks but doesn't have FM radio Philips HF3500/60 Wake-Up Light https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F0W1RIW/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_EVlKub0FCMKFG They actually have a 10 dollar coupon right now so you can pick it up for 59. I went for the first one because it had radio as well.
Waking up early has been my lifelong nemesis, too :( I've used this one almost every single day for the last 7 years, and while it certainly hasn't solved the problem for me, it definitely makes it easier...looks like they don't make that particular model anymore, but they do have a newer version for under $100, with a whole bunch of dupes popping up on Amazon as well. Good luck! :)
I use this alarm clock from Amazon. It's an old school bell alarm clock and is the first alarm clock that I can actually consistently hear. After years of struggling to even just hear my alarm, and then trying this, I just don't think my brain registers electronic noises or something. I can have insanely loud beeping alarms that can be heard outside of my house, but I manage to sleep through.
I actually have 2 of these (one to wake me up - then one to get up because I often found myself getting back into bed). They run on one AA battery and the way you can tell if the battery is running low is if the alarm starts to get quieter (but I've had one for months now and have not encountered that yet).
Hey! I personally suffer from fairly bad narcolepsy as well as sleep apnea. I bought an alarm clock about 4 months ago that has actually helped me a decent bit. I'm an extremely heavy sleeper as well, but since using this alarm clock I've gone from waking up on time on my own like 10% of the time up to more like 75% of the time. SonicAlert Alarm Clock w/ Bed Shaker I highly recommend trying that for him. It will sure as hell wake you up too, but maybe it'll help kick him into gear more with the bed shaker, strobe light, and extremely loud alarm. It is fairly expensive though at $60.
Another thing I recommend is the alarm clock I have on my phone. It's an app called Alarmy It's a heavily customizable alarm clock that you can set challenges on to prevent you from turning the alarm off. I currently have it set so that I have to complete 3 different 3 part math equations to turn the alarm off (such as 34+51+93).
I hope my recommendations help! I don't know if Alarmy is on IOS but it is on Android.
As others have said, sounds like it might be a medical issue worth getting checked out.
However, on the short term, consider this alarm app. I suffer from depression which makes it hard to get out of bed sometimes but, with this app I have no choice.
I've set it up so that the only way to turn it off (you can temporarily silence it, but not for long) is to get up, go all the way into my kitchen and scan the bar code on my coffee.
There are settings you can enable in the app that prevent uninstalling it or even turning off your phone so the literal only option, other than have your alarm blaring non-stop, is to get up.
Worked wonders for me. Give it a shot and good luck.
Yes! I use the sonic bomb alarm clock, it’s really loud and it comes with a bedshaker that can go under a mattress or your pillow
Idk if this will help but I bought my husband an alarm clock called the sonic bomb and it’s super loud but there’s also a piece you can put under your mattress that shakes you! It might work
I have the Philips Somneo. Link https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Connected-Smartphone-HF3670-60/dp/B07GXWDXBD?ref_=ast_slp_dp
It has some custom preset loops of naturesounds. A lot to chose from. and there is an aux input so you can have it play virtually anything that has a 3.5 jack to it and there is an USB port. i use it to charge the phone, maybe it plays mp3 not sure now that i come to thin k about it i will test. I wouldn't want to mis it. it helps me so much in wintertime.
This is what I used for unturnoffabke alarm.
(I can't wake up)[https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock]
There's an option you have to scan a specific barcode to turn it off.
Set it up with a barcode and then burn the barcode
Some very loud sounds built in.
If you set it up right You literally can not turn it off. There's options to "give up" on tasks after 5 or 10 minutes but you can disable this
Try Wobble. Just set one alarm and Wobble will automatically check if you're awake or not after some time. So even if you dismiss your last alarm, there's no need to worry. Also, there's a feature to add randomly shuffled songs selected by you, so that you don't have to change the ringtone every time. You can also try alarmy, which will try to break your habit of snoozing by getting you out of bed.
Many alarm apps like Wobble have an option to launch an app after dismissing the alarm. Here you can add an apl such as forest or tasker, which will lock your phone for the duration you want.
Dude you see the clock attachment? It's a bed shaker you put between your box spring and mattress. It's pretty strong, and I used it for years and never got used to it. Mini heart attack every morning.
I used this one, it has a plug for a lamp that can blink in and off to, or a vacuum cleaner, or whatever you want to plug in
Sonic Alert SB1000SS Sonic Boom Alarm Clock https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EX9K40/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sy.qCbK0ER1V0
https://www.amazon.com/Amisofia-Sunrise-Simulation-Nightlights-Sleepers/dp/B07BS42GR5/ 6 natural sounds such as soft piano, sweet birds sound and relaxing sea waves and so on an all available FM Channels will be scanned and saved automatically can be used as a wake-up sound.
Thank you! I actually got a Philips Wake-up Light Alarm which is a bit pricey but hopefully I'll get some good results. Those look good too though, thank you!
Do you notice a big difference in waking up and getting out of bed?
Philips Hue works really well for me. I can dim my lights & turn them off from my bed; and set them to automatically turn on in the morning
I had this same problem. I went to amazon and bought myself a sonic bomb alarm clock which has a physical vibrator that you can place under your bed. I can’t tell you how much this alarm clock has helped me. sonic bomb
If you google light alarm clock on amazon, there's a bunch of products that are light-based so it mimics the sun rising.
Here's one that's really highly rated: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076H3PR8L/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B076H3PR8L&linkCode=as2&tag=larkgoals-20&linkId=69618d13435383b67c23a344a3b87a49
I use Sleep Headphones like these: https://www.amazon.com/eBerry-Headphones-Sleeping-Earphones-Smartphones/dp/B011TVPSR8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484756772&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=sleep+headphones&psc=1
The speakers are very thin, felt-like material so I can still lay on my sides. They drown out just about every noise, and I live in a noisy apartment block.
I'm in the same boat. It's expensive, but I'm a coffee snob, so I've got this on my wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YEYKGMK/
For cheaper options, get an electric water kettle with a mechanical switch, then run it off an outlet timer. You might need a "heavy-duty" outlet timer - make sure it can handle the current draw of the water kettle. That'll at least boil the water for you, then you could use a french press or Aeropress to actually make the coffee. That would also work for caffeinated tea if you prefer the taste of that.
I use a pair of relatively flat JVC headphones that can be placed under or between your pillows. I have a memory foam base pillow with a feather one on top, and can barely feel the headphones through it.
I tried several different speakers designed to go under the pillow, as well as a pillow with a built in speaker, but they were all mono, and the sound was terrible.
My partner got me this. It's a typical alarm clock but it also has a vibrating disk you put in the pillow. My problem was that alarm clocks make those annoying sounds so I would turn them off while half asleep out of spite because they should all go to hell. This particular one has the option to turn off the sound so it only vibrates. I find it wakes me up much more gently and, therefore, is much more effective for me. Unfortunately, it still has a snooze and a "turn off" button within reach so I know it doesn't really answer your question but it's an option.
I've got the 'Sonic Bomb Jr'(ignore the amazon price, you can get it much cheaper elsewhere) however the one you linked to appears to be much better as it seems to have more customization over the actual alarms.
I used to study and fall asleep to drum n bass believe it or not but now I use an app called Atmosphere - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.peakpocketstudios.atmosphere
Also give mediation a go - try the Insight Timer app or http://www.themeditationhouse.com.au/shop/moon-connection-meditation
I've been using Fabulous for Android to help me form a morning routine. I'm about two weeks in and so far it's been really effective.
12.30's too late if you're only getting to sleep hours later. But it's a very good thing you're able to adhere to a schedule.
Melatonin may assist with adjusting one's body clock, and help you get to sleep when you want to get to sleep. It's available without prescription but it's worth getting professional advice about or at least researching before trying it; be aware of the possible side-effects.
This android app may be useful.
Try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droom.sleepIfUCan
Essentially, you take a photo of a place, and you have to take a photo of that place to stop the alarm.
So make that 'place' your bathroom/basement/etc. and your alarm won't stop ringing until you literally get out of bed.
Programs directly cant turn on pc so computer needs to run permanently so it's not worth additional power consuption or noise. There could be way of your phone turning on your pc (wol) but i highly doubt that's even made and you'd need some programmers to do that.
But i reccomend timely for your phone. It has option to require little puzzles or some simple math.
edit: After little research you can set up pc like this
Also for android at least there is an app called Twilight which does the same. Every screen I look at throughout the day and night has either flux or twilight on it
