1) Declutter
2) Get some frosted window film and apply it to the glass doors in your desk cabinets. That way you can hide away your clutter without anyone seeing it.
3) Whatever the ribbons and stuff on the wall are, they need to be moved. You might consider putting a big slab of cork board where they are hanging too...to give you a spot to attach important papers, reminders, photos etc etc
4) Your bookshelf is overloaded at the top, and virtually empty at the bottom. Evenly distribute the weight so that the boards don't sag. Fill in any extra space on the shelfs with the knick knacks that are currently cluttering your desk.
5) mount a hook somewhere to hang your earphones
6) Consider getting a monitor mounting arm for your PC monitor. The Amazon Basics Single Arm monitor mount is 100 bucks, but its built like a tank. Being able to move the monitor and have it floating gives you more usable desk space and it would allow you to move your monitor directly in front of your webcam in case you needed to show someone something on the monitor during a video chat.
7) I would consider replacing the desk lamp with something that puts all the light directly on the desk. You have a floor uplight in the background giving you plenty of indirect light. You don't need to stare at a lit up globe all day on your desk too
A loft bed would help save a lot of room, and there's many different options
I can't tell exactly what kind of bulbs are on those but it looks really similar to this, to me

I like a cool toned rug against your warm wood floor, like this: Blue Rug I’ve had good success with rugs off Amazon and I would recommend rugs from Mohawk and Safavieh. Buy a polypropylene, nylon, or olefin rug if you want easy cleaning. Wool is beautiful but requires work to clean (or $ for service). FWIW, I’m a textile engineer.
something like this would look good in that space! you could hang them over the couch closer to the window and use the cord hiders to conceal the cords once they get to the wall! best of luck :)
Hi)) In my opinion, it will be suitable to organize a rest area and place a chair or armchair (like this one) in the right corner. Then you can put a coffee table and decorate it with different statuettes or photo frames. The left corner can be complemented with home plant. It will be effective to hang the wall lamp, so that there would be light cozy atmosphere. If you prefer to read books there, you can surely hang the shelves and place there favorite books)))
Get one of these pillows for in front of your existing pillows.
Change out your blanket for this one in emerald green.
That's pretty much your whole budget right there (haha), but I honestly think those two things would do a lot. You'd be picking up on your mirror's wood accent with that pillow (while complementing your existing ones), and that throw blanket in that color would pick up your gorgeous plant.
maybe something like this and you could slide the legs under your mattress?
I always think pink like a hot pink next to Black is a way to use pink that is masculine. The first thing I thought it was pink neon light on black walls or something along those lines.
I realize black paint on walls might be bad idea though - maybe easy removal wallpaper?

Something like this would tie in your throw pillows and they yellow in the hutch
Honestly, as much as I absolutely love that couch, I think it might be a mistake, unless most everything else is solid colors. It’s just going to be really busy. And hard to change things up when you get the urge.
I would go with a neutral color for the couch, and then maybe some Monstera throw pillows, some plant art, of course lots of plants. Make the plant colors and patterns, plus the peachy color your accents rather than the focus.
I wouldn’t do a rug from target- they tend to have a really rough feel to them, especially on the underside where they could potentially scratch delicate hardwood.
I would do something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0QOIDA/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_-y.4Db2AYTKHZ
I think it’s nice to do something warmer, not so geometric/mid century which would make it too matchy matchy imo
I am indeed UK, and I might even have a tester of Egyptian Cotton from picking my living room paint!
I actually found it on a Buzzfeed article! It was in the background of a listicle point flogging something else, so I did some searching, leading me to Home Depot, and then Amazon US: https://www.amazon.com/Novogratz-CO472-Constellations-Removable-Wallpaper/dp/B07CJSZWFB It's self adhesive, and with the complexity of the pattern, I'm thinking getting a pro in is better than me trying to muddle my way through it!
Owner of 5 large dogs here. My sister pointed me in the direction of one of these and they are amazing at getting fur off the furniture, carpet, etc! Btw, your room is lovely just the way it is, including the naughty dog, haha!
There’s a couple options on the drapes. I would do one high rod. You could just do sheers. Next option do a double rod. Sheers go inside covered by nice curtains. You can make it dark. You can pull them back and have sheers showing. I’ve become a fan of magnetic curtain tie backs. Easy and no installation. So you have an idea. Melaluxe 6 Pack Magnetic Curtain Tiebacks, Decorative Curtain Holdbacks for Window Décor (Grey) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GWWQ99M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_-LgYDbPHS7R4W
Edit sheers not sheets
Love what you’ve done with the place! Love the mirror above the fire place. I’d recommend this rug from amazon. The soft geometric pattern isn’t too harsh or too floral and “girly”. I find it to strike the perfect neutral.
A soft off white or grey rug to match the accent chair would be perfect.
Also a nice deep wood rectangular coffee table would looks great to tie in the wood tones of the table.
Hi all!
We just launched a new feature on Dabble that lets you clip things from the real world. It’s pretty hilarious, try it out, and let me know what you think. You can take any photo and upload it in the Add Item panel - and we'll remove the background from it!

Thanks folks!
Despite the previous owners having every color under the sun in this picture, I think with modern furniture you might have to worry a little more about colors clashing with the pink. I'd suggest using a site like this (or really any color palette site) to make sure colors match before buying furniture unless you are strong with color selection yourself. For example, I love the style of the dark green and blue furniture another user posted but I feel like it might clash. A different user suggested light colors and I agree with that -- creams, whites and golds will match well. There's a lot of trendy cream marble with gold accent furniture out there these days that I think would fit.
And this is just my 2 cents but a few people suggested clear plastic chairs. I think anything plastic is going to look cheap in such a fancy room. Sorry to be a hater >.<
I like the birds. I would get 1-2 pillowcovers that marry grey and yellow, something like this, keep the geometric white with yellow ones. I am not keen on the little one that brings red in, or the mustard one.
That was the case with the property I saw... it looked a lot like this one., and even worse, they had them in every bathroom, and the entire house was painted a dark purple.
Not my cup of tea, but the owner was a very delightful and eclectic older woman, and it really fit her personality.
Hi!
I think you have a good base to work with, but need some cozy elements. I’d incorporate a rug, something with fringe/tassels to bring in some texture, maybe an ikat rug with a simpler design? The Souk wool rug from west elm is the first to come to mind, but I also think you could look for something similar with navy vs. black to incorporate with your sectional.
Also, would it be possible to move the kennel to the other side of the couch to keep the space more open?
I like to keep my throw pillows neutral because then they’ll pretty much go with everything else I bring in- I bought two of these, they’re soft and I am currently laying on them:
LANANAS Luxury Soft Plush Faux Fur Throw Pillow Covers for Couch Decorative Mongolian Fur Throw Pillow Covers Pack of 2 (18"x 18", Pearl White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G97N2QZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_lsXpEbAD55QSE
Would you be interested in tweaking the furniture a bit? The pieces you have definitely have character, but they way they collectively sit looks a little heavy. I try to avoid suggesting painting natural wood unless it’s a last resort. You can get screw-in furniture legs on amazon, which I think would help ‘lift’ (ha, pun!) the console/media corner piece a bit. The ones below are what I had in mind, and you can stain them to match the furniture:
One Sight 5 inch Solid Wood Furniture Legs Dresser Legs Sofa Replacement Legs, Mid Century Sofa Legs for Couch, Bed, Armchair,Cabinet, Set of 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R64RBJY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_YvXpEb3SHPFVE
You have such a pretty window that lets light in- I’d put a few small plants on the table in front of the window, like aloe or a philodendron.
Hope this helps!
So I actually think the TV stand DOES work nicely here - what you need to do is pull the colors from the rug into the shelving of the TV stand to make it more cohesive. You could do this with rust/terracotta-colored books (you can buy decorative books by the yard) and accent pieces. Even swapping out the metal plant holder for something like this (the textured one) would make a big impact.
Edit: the same goes for the coffee table.
Get some small glass orb plant holders and put air plants in them, hang in front of the window. Something like these plant holders. Hang with fishing line so you don’t see string.
I was going for a circle coffee table because since the TV stand and the kitchen table are rectangles, I thought that would look too repetitive?
There's this matchy one that's a rectangle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089LXG53T/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_9pxZFb4EX768W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I think a good place to start would be to measure all the walls, all the furniture, all the windows and doorways and then put it all in here. That will allow you to move the furniture around and see which way you like it best.
Hmm, I don't know where you'd fit a 60" TV in there, there are a lot of windows/doorways. You might be able to do one caddycornered to the bay window and fireplace, but I would measure what that would be at an angle. I would figure the TV out before you place the sectional, but if you already have the sectional I'd just get it in there and be prepared to move it around.
My husband and I used to have a TV stand like this one in our old living room, our TV was 48 inches I believe. For a small room, it's appropriate. I honestly think 60" of TV would really overpower that room.
I agree about not blocking the bay window - I always find it so tacky when people do that, especially when you look at the back of a TV with all those wires from the outside.
Also, your video link did work for me. Good luck!
Squatty Potty The Original Bathroom Toilet Stool - Slim Teak Finish, 7 inch Height https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0196BEVZI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_6PJ0M5Y4K4DG7VC6EJ2J
I’m embarrassed for you to see how much I paid for this, it was a late night wine purchase. We put the ugly plastic squatty potty in my son’s bathroom
Honestly I’m a big proponent of finding something that means something to you vs. purchasing something generic. I’ve seen some friends create some really nice gallery walls with their one photos printed in black and white in the same size and framed in the same simple cheap Amazon frames . If you print the photos all in black and white, it creates a cohesive, professional look. I’ve also seen ones that are colorful and vibrant and made from travel pictures that look amazing!
Otherwise, I love looking on Etsy for art. There are so many amazing artists working so hard to make a buck, and I’d rather give them my money than some big corporation (that will probably be outed as racist like Urban Outfitters...I recognize your comforter and almost got it! So cute). In terms of artists that are my style that may be yours (since I love what you have now), here’s one that I’ve purchased from and was BLOWN AWAY by the quality: link.

If you've got a green thumb and some patience: Plants ! I'm imagining some pothos creeping down or out from the wall. You can train them to crawl along a wall using clear command hooks. This color combo with this training technique. Other plants that might work are string of pearls, English Ivy. You'd need to build a tall narrow planter but it could definitely work.
If you want something with less ongoing effort: a little art gallery! First, I'd paint at least the walls of the cut out a lighter color (white to match the trim of the door, or a light complementary color to the orange), you could attach an under cabinet style light for the top of the box, to give it a glow, then have some cool sculpture there.
If you want something with less ongoing effort and more functionality, you could use it as book/document storage. Cool put on some doors if you want less visual clutter.
Definitely curtains OP! Get full length white cotton sheer curtains and keep them open - those trees are beautiful! I love these bc they have a bit of texture in them. Hang the rod halfway between the top of the window and the ceiling to create height.
Add pillows. That flat thing looks so sad!
And if all that doesn’t feel right, maybe change out your rug? I like the circle to add contrast to the rectangle shapes in the room but I wonder if it’s a bit too small and possibly too rough for the space.
I have these from Amazon in greyish white and they are light but still thick* enough to keep light and cold out.
Hi! as I put in my comment, we're trying to go for a modern alpine chalet style. I know that's not really a thing... We're drawing some inspiration from this book: https://smile.amazon.com/Modern-Living-Chalet-Claire-Bingham/dp/3832734201?sa-no-redirect=1, but there are a lot of ways that this can go. The overall home is built in a classic bavarian chalet style by a guy from Germany. We'd like to keep the character of that, but not the folksy-ness of it - we'd prefer to modern it up, use more clean lines.
I would suggest simple white pull shades mounted to the inside of the window reveal. You can get then at home depot and they'll cut them right there for free if you give them the measurement. It's a super cheap way to get custom window treatments.
They look like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Grandekor-Blackout-Darkening-Bedroom-Cordless/dp/B07RV1RNH5
Would something like this work?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003ZHVDAG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Qp4LEb60JBWA3
Or this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J5FQTGZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Xt4LEb7F48W68
It looks like there are quite a few good options on Amazon.
3M also makes Command strips and Command hooks that are water resistant. I’ve used the hooks on shower walls to hang my body puffs. Look for them online or check Amazon.
So they make full wall decals of like beach scenes or open windows or forests https://www.amazon.com/wall26-Long-Pathway-Covered-Forest/dp/B01BY4525S/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1536540923&sr=8-6&keywords=full+wall+decal ...I'd get one of those and a mirror to make the space feel bigger. I also second the remove high shelfs, raise bed for under bed storage.
Stained glass would be pretty, but I'm not sure how soundproof it would be. Probably no worse than a regular window.
I found this site that sells soundproof glass by the square meter:
Okay so I immediately thought of doing an awesome black and white geometric wallpaper on the wall above the tile (something like this maybe?) and hanging a circular black-framed mirror. Then do a simple white textured shower curtain with liner and a black & white rug.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087NKCC29/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
They're the same as these, but the ones that I got for $13 are sold out!
hmmmm. they do make ceiling-mount brackets for curtain rods:
Amazon Basics Curtain Rod Ceiling-Mount Bracket, Set of 2, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MRT552R/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_709.FbK8ZFFWN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
i'm having trouble envisioning how you could get more than one layer with something like this, without it looking a little clunky...but hopefully someone here will have better ideas!
congrats on your new place!!
and fwiw--400 sq ft can feel totally spacious and comfortable if you arrange it according to your actual needs rather than what you think every place "should" have. :-))
The first things that came to mind are nesting tables, like these two:
https://smile.amazon.com/Henn-Hart-CT0052-Coffee-Table/dp/B07N8R9WK8/
https://smile.amazon.com/Walker-Edison-Furniture-Company-Industrial/dp/B081ZQR3JS/
I don't think distressed ever comes out as good as someone expects... Just pick a single color roll with it. Paletton is what I plan on using next time I'm going to pick colors. Also, you can do what this person did and extract colors from a nice photo using the eyedropper tool in photoshop. Just be wary because the light-based colors on a monitor will inevitably be different than the pigment based colors in paint.
Great suggestions!
Something I personally always suggest with cable management is to just get a simple cable concealer .
Don't have to get this exact version, only did a quick search. But this seems to be fine and can probably get used at other locations as well.
I would do something like this on Amazon because it’s quick and cheap, but I’m sure there’s a more technical solution
I really love the painting of the woman, both because it's lovely and because it picks up the blue of the sofa. So I would add more pieces that play well with that. You can buy a pack of mixed postcards with a theme or artist you like and frame those when you're framing the two other postcards there. Example
Stagger the big paintings among the little guys. Use a level to make sure things look their best and don't leave too much space between frames. Keep your eyes open at yard sales or thrift stores for more paintings if you like where things are going. You can also experiment with pressed leaves, flattened origami, collage and decoupage, and painting simple stripes and shapes--put a frame on it and it is now Art.
It’s not as “modern” as some of the suggestions here, but I was looking for a very durable rug in that rust color family and found this gem. It was my second NuLoom rug purchase and I absolutely love them because they’re great looking rugs and so easy to clean.
Part 3:
I needed a sturdy desk on the cheap, so I got an 18x 72” catering table for abt $75. I like it bc it has a slim profile but lets me spread out papers and art supplies. Rock solid:
Monarch Paper Star Lantern (Violet) by UMTA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0781JKLHS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_x5hTFb4S1K94K
As for walks, if you can’t paint, look into peel and stick wallpaper for a short wall or part of one. We did part of a wall in blackboard paper so we cld track events and draw all over it—it looks great and has held up really well!
I’m just so happy for you, if you couldn’t tell. ;-) I hope you enjoy every moment of settling in and feeling home.❤️
Thank you! We got it off of Amazon.
We were kind of hoping getting a quirkier shower curtain would detract from the shabbiness of the bathroom while we fix a few things, bit by bit.
Alright!
So first off, congrats on trying to improve yourself! When tackling a project like this-it can get overwhelming. Break it up into small parts. Start small and in one corner and work your way around. Before moving furniture or anything, your FIRST job is to find a corner and work on that. Bring in a trash bag and throw out anything that's trash. Bring in a box and put anything in it that you don't use or need. (That's for storage.) Bring in a third box-put anything in it that you are going to keep in your room. Continue putting items in those until everything is de-cluttered from the room. (NOT the closets, that's another project!).
Keep that box of everything for the room in the room (put it on the bed for now, just someplace out of the way.)
The window treatment. See if you can pick up some blackout film. I found some on Amazon here You can keep the curtain blinds and still keep light out.
Next step-add more light. Lamps work wonders. If possible, look into a mood light or smart bulb. You don't want a BRIGHT light if you're relaxing and if you're studying you want something that will energize you.
Now, you should have a fairly clean & empty room (minus furniture.) Move and adjust it around until it "feels right."
Once you have everything arranged, sleep on it a night. See how it feels when you wake up. Once its working for you, then start putting things back into place. Try to add baskets or boxes or storage. De-cluttered and organized helps keep your mind clear. A messy room can make your mind feel messy (if that makes sense.)
And don't forget to wash your bedding - you'd be amazed at how good clean bedding can make you feel when you slip into it!
I like everything you have except the white coffee table. I like it too but not the white paint. Would you consider painting it brown (or even going with a dark orange like Dragon's Blood)?
As for seating, you could get four of these folding chairs+ four cushions (maybe paint them in different colors to match your décor). 2 of them can go where the rocker is, one over by the plant and the fourth hidden in a closet (or under the couch)
I'm not sure how it'd work for you, but a murphy bed might be a good option. Here is an option that has a desk for when the bed is stored. I'm sure there are other variations available, but this is just what I found from a quick search.
I think you can get away with the tv seeming off center. I just did an image search for decorate around tv and this was my favorite suggestion.
Also, cute puppy. :)
I really like the teal and brown color combination, but can I also incorporate a red like this?
Some people won't mind, but having to live out of my suitcase would be a deal breaker for me. I think you'd be fine adding a small dresser for folded clothes and some over the door hooks/hangers for hanging stuff.
Maybe a brightly colored blanket to throw over the desk chair/end of your bed? And I think putting the plant next to the desk would be nice, it doesn’t look like it would be too in the way as the door opens toward the tv. I do agree with another comment about hiding the wires above the door and shoji screen, if you’re unable to maybe try some faux hanging ivy if you’re into that kind of thing? Here is a link to one on Amazon with varying reviews.
Thank you very much!! I went to Lowes and bought a cheap piece of finish wood and had it cut to size there for free. Afterwards it was just securing it to the top of the cabinet! The legs that I bought originally look like they aren't on amazon anymore, but these are the closest thing that I could find, but are a bit pricier: https://www.amazon.com/Cosimeenodta-Furniture-Oblique-Tapered-Stainless/dp/B08QYZM4QY/ref=sr\_1\_24?dchild=1&keywords=sofa+legs&qid=1623795773&sr=8-24
This might look nice depending on the lighting - And your personal taste of course. There are a few different greens and pinks to tie the colors, the overall colors are mirrored (large green couch with smaller pink pillows vs large pink rug with smaller green accents) for balance, florals to match the theme and the spacing of the flowers on the rug feels proportional to the spacing of the print on the pillows.

This is a touch more than what you wanted to spend, but for the naked side it's really ideal: https://www.amazon.com/Classic-Home-Garden-160014-Trellis/dp/B07XMMNH7C/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=trellis+planter&qid=1621287227&s=lawn-garden&sr=1-2
As far as the plant goes, morning glory is ideal...it's fast growing, pretty, and easy to remove. Start the seeds indoors.
If the above is too expensive, you can just use a large pot and a tomato cage. I believe they put the cages upside down for morning glories.
I absolutely love them but can't grow them where I am as they're very invasive in a garden. But would be great for you...
You'll have to check the dimensions, but this: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0814CL1CK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_KAJHVPP0YZJ3FRAM0Y9P

get a white comforter cover for your sleeping bag and layer white and grey pillows, or maybe add a bottle blue color.
gorgeous room!!!
Hmmmm, a DIY nightstand is not a bad idea... I just found these on Amazon... I don't want to be too matchy-matchy, but I'll definitely play around with the idea.
Thanks again for all your feedback!
We’ve used cable management boxes for customers. There are a few different sizes and styles boxes that you can pick from on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075D7CW3J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_7iBcGbS94B711
We’ve also used under desk cable management trays from IKEA as well with cable sleeves.
Plants on the fences like with a hanging pot https://www.amazon.com/Fireboomoon-Hanging-Railing-Planters-Container/dp/B08HYH3LQ1/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Balcony+Plant&qid=1610580105&sr=8-4#
How about something like this as an accessory? Don't need to worry about knocking it over, cleaning it up or maintenance?
I got this guy from amazon. Listen, I’m 24. I just bought a house. Don’t let people shit on you for things not matching.
I’d go with white if I was you? Just seemingly because you have a lot of other white going on. Wood is nearly impossible to match unless you’re making a great paycheck, and can invest in sets.
I would get rid of your small black mirror. seemingly it’s the only thing that really stands out. You can get a floor one from target for like, $70, but a less expensive option can be a Walmart one with a nicer frame around it for like, $20.
Also idk your feeling on tapestries, but that may look nice behind your headboard, or even something just like a simple medium size photo Edit: didn’t see the shelf. You need to put something on that shelf to compliment accordingly. Idk what oddities you have laying around, but larger items- like 3 items that would flow would work
WOW that is an amazing transformation, well done!
What about leaning right into the green and white with table cloth?
I actually dig the retro green/pink/white combo
I think you should mount the curtain rod on the outside of the nook, get more curtain panels (roughly double the curtain panel width to the window width) and have pull backs, and then use some privacy film on the lower half of the window.
That way, you can always lean against the window comfortably, the curtains will look nice hanging down, and you'll still have privacy when eating while keeping the light.
Everyone else saying just get a frame and shoe organizer is correct. Oh okay...
My opinion is that there's a lot to be done here :)
The posters need to go unless you're under...15 or so.
You need a rug, a new lamp, a couple side tables...your dresser doesn't go with your bed, so maybe a new bed, also...
Where do you want to start?
ETA: lets get rid of grandma's bed :) This one is great for a single person and it's contemporary, like your dresser...it got good reviews and is a great price..
I think either bedding is nice.
I like to use a bedspread on top of my sheets to get a nice clean look. This happens to be my favorite

Pls make some additional photos with a normal mode. Measuring the spaces for some rearangments is very difficult, when you have pictures in panoramic mode.
plant is cute - i would get a decorative pot and plate to put under it (in case water overflows). i would also put it towards the window. one plant is good, i dont think you need another.
maybe the scale of your art could be bigger to make blank table wall feel more substantial.
bring in an area rug to define the tv watching space. make sure it is bigger than the furniture.
i think the table towards the stairs is a good arrangement, and then maybe a small sofa table could go in the other half of the space. or switch depending on how you prefer to use the spaces.
just tossing out some ideas :)
I think the molding does get lost (I didn't notice it until I read your comments) and you'd have a lot more distinctive room if you highlighted it somehow.
I love to use Adobe's Color tool to get ideas. In this case I plugged in an approximation of the color of your couch and just swirled all the dials until I found something that looked interesting: https://color.adobe.com/Crabbyappletonns-room-color-theme-7385820/
I think I'd try doing the actual molding itself in the darker blue and the wall above in the lighter blue if you wanted to stick with mostly white walls.
One thing I'd really recommend is to make a few choices and get a sample and actually put them on the wall, just a couple square feet. If you're definitely going to paint you can put it right on the wall; if you might want to keep entirely white Home Depot has these plastic patches you can stick on just for this purpose.
I have tried to make a slightly different layout to compare the two.
The apartment currently has carpet that I tried to replicate in the living room, the two bookcases next to the TV would be display cases off glass.
In the bedroom corner there is a build in closet which I will probably keep too. There's also a build in little (cabinet?) above the toilet and washing machine.
Most furniture is basically a placeholder because I couldn't find the ones I saw in the Ikea. Also not sure if I will do the table thingy for the kooking plate or not.

Let me know what you think.
Tomorrow will be the last day I have internet until the 10th so I wanted to thank you for everything, I really appreciate it!
I'll be moving in begin April!
I am moving into a shared apartment so I would like my bedroom to also serve as a small social space for hanging out and watching TV. I also will be working from home part-time, so I need some kind of desk. I played around with many different arrangements and this is what I came up with to try to squeeze in all of the elements I want. Can I make this work or will it feel too cramped? All of the furniture in the model is placeholder (I don't own any furniture yet), but for the final room, I want a cozy modern aesthetic. Here is a link to the Planner5D model. I would appreciate any feedback!
Wow! Thank you. That's starting to come together now. I attempted to (poorly) render that in 3D - is this what you were going for?
Thanks for that! I really like the idea of the "behind the couch" table. I got some measurements from the management company and threw them into this modeling software to play with.
Mine ended up being a lot busier than yours, but I think yours is a lot more simple and might work better when I actually get stuff in there.
The architect made the same problem with the layout for no tv, it also doesn't let you layout and focus on the view!
I moved things around a bit. Sofa facing the bedroom. Nice tall, wall size bookshelves behind the sofa and on the bedroom wall...
Standing floor lamps beside the sofa and a chair and pendant lamp and round table across from the sofa... See if that works on your planner...

As far as hanging pictures goes you could try something like this.
I've had good luck with command strips as long as I wash the wall first, and when removing them pull the tab very slowly downwards.
TP solution: attach a slide-on toilet paper hook to the wall (like [this](www.amazon.com/dp/B01826LNX6/) Your bathroom is very soothing and your solution for the vanity wall gap is clever. I would move the second gold hexagon ofc the toilet onto the wall. Personally I would do not anything else if you’re planning to remodel, it all fits together
I use Command Picture Hanging strips all over my house and love them (I can't stand nail holes. lol). They have enough grip that you could pull them off and reposition them, but she would have to try real hard.
I commented elsewhere on furniture placement.
Got it off Amazon, here is the link! Galanz GLR25MBER10 Retro Compact Refrigerator, Mini Fridge with Single Doors, Adjustable Mechanical Thermostat with Chiller, Blue, 2.5 Cu Ft https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BZTB4KG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KK35SJZCE7EAT7Z6N8BG?psc=1
I would go for a sage/ olive green on the left. And some navy/ dark grey planters. Stick a load of fairly lights looping from the wood posts up top. Some ‘lightbulb’ type ones would look pretty. Like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/BlueFire-Lighting-Control-Christmas-Decoration/dp/B07CMMC618/ref=asc_df_B07CMMC618/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309957117356&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1516815511496161320&hvpone=&hvptwo=&...
I agree with an outdoor rug, and a small bistro set maybe? All quite affordable- The Range is a good place to start. Staggered hanging plants on the vertical posts on the left would look pretty.
I wonder if you can find clear, acrylic shelves that are wide enough for your windows, like this: https://www.amazon.com/MaxGear-Floating-Wall-Shelf-Bookshelf/dp/B08FR46Z7Q
Or get brackets like this https://www.wayfair.com/storage-organization/pdp/wfx-utility-steel-hanging-shelf-bracket-w001092113.html, that have a lip on them and insert thick acrylic or glass shelves on them. If you use acrylic, make sure it's thick so it doesn't bow down once weight is on it.
You'll have to position them strategically if you want to be able to open your windows.
I like this rug: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086WL3FJ7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_3AE4YJFGHY8QGWJFVVQK There's off-white, beige, navy and grey in there which would pull you room colors together with the grey sofa you want and the pattern would also fit with a modern design style. This one is also neat: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GS1X6RS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_NFQ5HRGRHWS0ZC6Y6CW1 There's more colors (including burgundy) but would still work with the modern style.
Overall suggestions...
Open cubbies don't do much in terms of aesthetics or function. I mean, you either need the storage or you don't...clearly in a studio, you do. Turn them toward the bed temporarily and use them.
Likewise your stuff in the corner needs a home, but without a view of the space, I can't suggest anything.
The mirror is off-center and lonely/too high/the wrong shape...If you can move the bed over, that's fine (however, you would be wasting valuable space on the right unless you substitute the side cubby/table for a dresser) If you can move it, you'll have to change the whole look.
I don't like things above my head so I don't have anything above the bed...but whatever you put there, lower it. I suggest something relaxing..and do 2 related ones. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Mountains-Mountaineering-Mountain-mountains-Housewarming/dp/B084JCW68F
Use poster frames (they have acrylic "glass" so they're lightweight) and command velcro hanging strip things on all four corners.
I think if you put anything more, you'll change the aesthetic and it won't look good. Keep it deliberately simple.
Thank you very much!! The legs that I used aren't for sale anymore, but these are pretty similar, just a bit more expensive: https://www.amazon.com/Cosimeenodta-Furniture-Oblique-Tapered-Stainless/dp/B08QYZM4QY/ref=sr\_1\_24?dchild=1&keywords=sofa+legs&qid=1623795773&sr=8-24
I would swap sides: sofa were tv is and tv where sofa is. Create a walk way to the door. I would flank the Tv stand with these -
IRONCK Industrial Bookcase 5 Tier Ladder Shelf, Display Storage Wood Shelves Wall Mounted, Plant Flower Stand Organizer Bookshelf, Rustic Wall Decor, for Living Room, Kitchen, Bar Storage https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08JGXZC2K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_M2RGQKC423SVFCG0F04A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1-
Put live plants on them. Seems like you get allot of light.
#2 looks good - pending your light situation these might be a great add to your room https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08H9HTRVD/ref=cm\_sw\_r\_pi\_dp\_x\_Bq6QFbHWE5KMW?k=fake+plants+decor+by+modern+planter
Frankly I would have picked a different paint (yours is cool and your cabinets/backsplash is warm)...but it's done and it will be fine.
I would rip off that backsplash--it looks like badly done peel and stick. Then you'll be forced to re-do it.
You can tile this yourself. My first tiling job was a backsplash. Or replace with better peel and stick---something less busy.
Your pendant lights are not awful. However, keep your eye out on facebook marketplace. Or try these: https://www.amazon.com/Industrial-Farmhouse-Adjustable-Lighting-Restaurant/dp/B08DQTZ6QJ/ref=dp_fod_1?pd_rd_i=B08DQTZ6QJ&th=1
Lights are another thing you can do yourself. Safety first tho...make sure the power is off at the breaker box.
Check Amazon for handles...those I linked are only 40 dollars for 30 handles...there are others equally as inexpensive. I will caution you to read the reviews....you don't want anything flimsy.
If books are in a room, I may just read there, so comfortable seating is good. Maybe something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0913HLSPH/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_glt_fabc_CTXFS0G3RJSDZJGR9GX3
Looked for "banquette," online, if that doesn't work.
Brown, white, blue & green sound like a lovely color combination.
I think there’s similar ones out there! I’ll keep looking. Wasn’t sure if this one would work with your mirror’s frame? But also know it was a stretch.
How about a towel stand on the counter between the two sinks?
I had a similar dilemma a few months ago, and I have two suggestions. 1) Here’s a sponge holder that keeps the water off the sponge. It doesn’t stop water from pooling but the plastic drip tray keeps your sponge from soaking in it. -https://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Stainless-Steel-Caddy/dp/B000FEDCNI/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=oxo+sink+caddy&qid=1620162004&sprefix=oxo+sink+&sr=8-5 2) I used this but ended up wanting things off my counter, so I decided to convert the panel in front of my sink to a tip-out drawer. Here’s what I used to do that. https://www.amazon.com/Rev-Shelf-Tip-Out-Front-Sink/dp/B0065P25IO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=tip+out+tray+for+sink&qid=1620162084&sprefix=tip+out+&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A21H78TO1I9C06&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhb... Good Luck!
Okay just turn them so they're sideways in the alcove as opposed to straight on.
The room divider. Your ceilings are slanted, which means a hanging room divider would be difficult to do (you could only have one in the center because that's where it's flat), however, from alcove to alcove the whole ceiling is flat. With the head of your bed against a door near the radiator, you would want to have the divider go from the head of your bed bisecting the whole space to approx the end of your bed. In order to accomplish this, the divider will go on the alcove section of the ceiling (but at the very side so that there's still full access to the alcove).
I hope that makes sense....
DM if you want so that this thread doesn't end up as the longest thread in history...Hopefully it will work but my little envelope icon is gone and I don't know why.
So since you're keeping the navy blue chairs and the dark wood furniture, I think it limits what will work.
I would suggest getting a white and blue duvet cover like this and if you choose to do a bedskirt, I would stick with white.
Then I would hang up some white linen curtains high and wide on the window. If you don't want curtains, you could certainly just do a white shade.
If you can paint, I would leave the top of the walls white and maybe paint the bottom a navy blue just to tie it all together.
For wall art, tie it all together with landscape photos/canvases with whites/browns/blues. And hang the TV on the wall above the dresser if you can!
