91.3 FM WBNY Buffalo's Original Alternative
If you click the "listen now!" link it'll download an .asx file that can only be listened to via Windows Media Player. Alternatively, you can download the TuneIn Radio app for your phone and search "WBNY".
I'm gonna be playing it around 5:30 AM on Saturday morning, so that's be what, 4:30 AM Denton time? I record all my shows, I can just send you a link afterwards. :)
if it's anything like their tumblr, absolutely nothing good will come of it (except how they named each track and various music suggestions) and i will love every bit of it.
I made a list a while back attempting to document every Midwest emo 7". A good place to do some hinting. : https://rateyourmusic.com/list/modest9797/the-history-of-midwest-emo-told-through-7-records/
Hey! Me and my friend Clodagh have started an emo podcast called Kids From Yesterday. We focus on different elements of the subculture and each episode is themed but we also do current news etc. Hope you enjoy! https://anchor.fm/kidsfromyesterday

I use the RYM charts to discover music. It's good because it relies on people voting on which genres certain albums are so it's much more accurate than other sites. You can sort by date, genre, country of origin, and format. Definitely listen to the top albums of the genres below to see what you like, but don't be afraid to leave the first few pages and even listen to albums with lower ratings.
I was gonna do a long write up about the different genres but I got halfway through Midwest Emo and realized I sounded biased as fuck so I'll implore you to do your own research (If you're interested). RYM has another site called Sonemic that has small bios on each genre that you can read. Wikipedia is also decent in its explanation of the genres but the best thing you can do to get an understanding of the differences between subgenres is to just listen to the music.
I'll also make you aware of /r/emojerk, where the memes are.

Not sure of the validity of this (I'd never heard Acres. before today), but this person claims they went on to become Pinegrove.
Edit: I don't think this is completely true
Yup! Copies pop up every so often, and they don't last long. https://www.discogs.com/Capn-Jazz-Burritos-Inspiration-Point-Fork-Balloon-Sports-Cards-In-The-Spokes-Automatic-Biographies-K/release/1617941
The 7" singles go for silly money too.
Their entire discography is splits, basically.
Well, not actually, but it's an interesting discography to say the least. They have 4 splits.
https://www.discogs.com/artist/2935597-Old-Gray
EDIT: I miscounted. I see 6 on their bandcamp.
Rarest: TWIABP - Whenever if Ever tour exclusive from when they were on tour with Into It Over It and AGBPOL. It's clear with rainbow splatter. I think they said they they pressed like 200.. I'm not sure it was a while back..
Looking for : Any Brave Little Abacus
Edit: Discogs says 100
Acoustic versions of Never Meant, The Summer Ends, and For Sure. I extracted the songs for those who want the music in their collection. Uploaded here!
did you google it? i googled Podcast Keith Empire Empire and found a couple. https://www.buzzsprout.com/2444/66985 and http://soundcheckchat.com/episodes/empire-empire-keith-latinen-you-will-be-eventually-forgotten.html
Sup, think it's just standard tuning... If you've not used chordify before prepare for your mind to be blown!
r/https://chordify.net/chords/pet-symmetry-mostly-water-official-audio-polyvinylrecords
(click on the 'chords' button next to the diagrams button it's better)
You Blew It! - Grow Up, Dude (kinda like American Football but not as mathy and gives you a huge nostalgia feeling)
Tigers Jaw - s/t (more in line with Modern Baseball but a bit more indie-esque)
Mineral - any album (like a calmer version of American Football but without the math rock)
Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary (just a required album for everyone that wants to get into emo, sounds like if American Football had a bunch of 90's alt rock/indie/post hardcore/grunge influence)
The Appleseed Cast - Low Level Owl: Volume 2 or Mare Vitalis(if you want more post rock-influenced emo like The World Is A Beautiful Place)
I Hate Myself - 10 Songs (another required album, but doesn't sound like emo you already heard, it's the more gritty and hardcore-esque kind of emo)
Suis La Lune - Quiet, Pull The Strings! (if you want to get introduced to screamo - which by the way sounds absolutely NOTHING like Black Veil Brides, Falling in Reverse or the kind, it's the powerviolence and hardcore offshoot of emo - it's a band that blends screamo and American Football kind of emo)
Jimmy Eat World - Clarity (IMO it's a required listen for anyone that starts getting into emo, a beautiful album that combines the classic 90's sound of emo, alternative rock, the 00's kind of emo and a little bit of pop punk just to end with a 10+ minute post rock masterpiece)
You've got a huuuuge genre in front of you and if you ever want to discover more of it I'd be glad to give you recommendations, so just pm me. Or you can also go to my emo ratings at rateyourmusic and browse it.
Such a shame that all that mess happened between them, leading them to disbanding. Cody (mentioned earlier in the thread by /u/BadaBingWitAPipe1) actually posted two EPs they made freshman year of high school, back when he was the drummer. I've never heard of or seen these before today. Enjoy!

these guys? the release date says 2005.
though i don't think they sound very emo, more metal than punk
Here are a few books that can help. Not that they're accurate but they demonstrate how emo is/was perceived. Actually, just search for "emo" in Amazon and see what stuff comes up...
I think the SM57 is one of the most versatile mics. Even in super expensive studio settings, it's the go-to mic for guitar amps. I wouldn't recommend it for recording a bass amp, though. It also works great on a snare. I've used it for vocals before and the tone is solid, but not the best for vocals. These guys recorded a song using only two SM57's.
Watch out for fakes, though, there's plenty. Get it from a reputable retailer.
an essential source for anything like this (which can never be completed, "kids will always take the torch away", etc) is Andy Greenwald's <em>Nothing Feels Good: Punk Rock, Teenagers, and Emo</em>. the writing is cringeworthy at times, especially at the end of the book when he interviews some suicidal teen girl with a Livejournal (dear God...), but you will learn things and get a basic "map" down in your head.
From the research I have done my idea is grey long sleeved top, with a short sleeve black top over it (possibly with a design on the front) and ripped black jeans.
I have shoulder length brown hair so I have found a black wig Link if interested- https://www.amazon.co.uk/MapofBeauty-Black-Cosplay-Party-Straight/dp/B01K9FQ658/ref=sr_1_245?c=ts&keywords=Wigs&qid=1643201206&refinements=p_76%3A419159031&rnid=419157031&rps=1&s=beauty&sr=1-245&ts_id=306691031&th=1
I dont know if this would be the right thing to wear, most of the online fashion stuff from the 2000s I could find was about women.
anybody playing Spider Man (PS4) today? picked up my copy last night and stayed up til 4AM and spent half of today zipping around virtual NYC. such a solid experience thus far.
my band is in a contest to play this really sweet gig and it would mean the world to have some support from r/emo, a place we all love. all you have to do is like and share the picture at the link below. if you're into it, check us out on our various socials. thanks so much~

But The Regrets Are Killing Me is full of that poetic stuff, but Genius reckons he's just asking the girl not to leave him again: http://genius.com/2199907/American-football-but-the-regrets-are-killing-me/Fools-leave-too-soon
I usually hate to self-promote, but I made a "guide" to the bands and labels of orgcore on my RYM. I really love it (The Menzingers still being one of my favorite bands even now) so I made it as comprehensive I could.
Yes.. that's one of the may reasons I closed up.. Barely any donations that came in.. people felt entitled, and also felt that hey your the one that wanted a site. It's yours. Never had a great base like It-leaked, and KL had where people didn't mind donating. I don't have any sources at all which blows. but, if you want old school release I got you there.
https://www.phpbb.com/community/ be like this.. def won't be like KL style they used a vbulletin
I don't guarantee the chord voicings in the chorus and second verse are correct (though im 99% sure the bass notes are right) but everything else should be good. There are Guitar Pro 6 and Guitar Pro 5 files in the drive link, I can't be bothered to make a pdf right now..just go download tuxguitar (its free) and get the gp5 file if you dont have guitar pro. :P
Soulseek is a super useful program for downloads. Dead Pulpit has a chatbox for downloads, you can also request links if you're looking for something specific. KL will be missed though, super easy to use with such a broad range of music.
So good!
I wrote a novel that is very much this. Biking and skating through the neighborhood, finding music and falling in love, getting hurt and growing up. It’s called When Summer Ends and I think some of y’all might like it.
Fourfa.com is essential. The book Post by Eric Grubbs, is probably the best book on the subject. Also, check out the documentary Salad Days. It covers the early DC hardcore roots of the genre.
Do you have a large library on your SD card? If you do I recommend this app for tagging your music
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.serg.chuprin.tageditor
I use it to correct any messed up files or fix any annoyances I have like when titles look like this (01 song name - song artist .mp3) I like to make it nice and tidy so I scrobble it on LastFM
With this app that also lets you manually correct your tag info but it's easier to get it right the first time
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arn.scrobble
Stock Samsung player I like it as it reads different music formats and looks the cleanest + it's stock.
I used it for all the music on my SD card for stuff not on Spotify or streaming
If you have an Android here's a link

heres a cheap one but any should work
https://www.amazon.com/Fender-Frontman-Electric-Guitar-Amplifier/dp/B001L8PIFW?th=1
it looks small but with positive reviews, is this fender one any good?
I would ship to the UK, but you would have to cover the shipping costs (not sure what that would be at the moment). If I were you, I would first check to see if Amazon would ship it to you on the cheap

Stop trying to pass the blame bruh, step your game up.
