Here's a short snippet on Crook as a family name, though I could also conceivably see it coming from a shepherd's crook.
Crooks could be a patronymic variation of Crook, or it could be a bastardization of Croix, meaning cross. I would guess that you might be able to whittle it down based on whether your ancestors were French (which would suggest the Croix theory), or Norse/English, which would suggest the background from the first link.
It's because they're made by small indie devs and writing good netcode is a lot of work, especially for super lag-sensitive things like bullet hell type games.
As a side note, they're not roguelikes. Roguelikes look like this or this -- they're turn-based, 2d games, sometimes/often using ASCII letters in the console instead of graphics.
Gungeon is a real time sort of bullet-hell-ish game, which has some roguelike elements with the random generation and start-over-when-you-die stuff. But calling it a roguelike is like calling Far Cry an RPG because of its progression mechanics.
Definitely recommend reading about every enemy so you know their exact moveset. It may seem intuitive to dodge but knowing the number/spread/range of bullets as well as the movement/health of enemies goes a very long way.
The ETG wiki on enemies is useful for this.
Also this unofficial gungeon item recognizer app makes identifying and looking up items super easy with an Android phone.
Oh wow this is very cool. I also made a wiki app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enter_the_gunbook - maybe we can team up and make some apps together. I make them in React Native, what do you use?
According to systemrequirementslab:
>CPU: 2.0GHz i5 or better
>RAM: 4 GB
>OS: Windows 7 / 8 / 10
>Video Card: Graphics card with 1 GB of Video RAM
>Free Disk Space: 600 MB
No clue how accurate that is though. Seems a tiny bit intensive for minimum.
Edit: I guess they got these from the GOG page and one of the devs said they won't be quite that high. Plus, even if max is still too much, options can be turned off and tweaked.
Really sorry! I linked my stream on the front page before I noticed this! I'll close the thread! I'm gonna be streaming this glorious game ALL NIGHT come join @ https://www.twitch.tv/claybongo I also have a let's play series of EtG ongoing @ youtube.com/claybongo
My girlfriend's been super excited for this game for a damn long time and now she's letting all that excitement out on twitch. She's British, for those who like their pretty girls to have accents =D
I plan on doing some streaming in eight minutes if anyone is interested. https://www.twitch.tv/admiralvic/profile
I've also been doing some videos on my YouTube channel, but I can't say how long I'll be doing them. https://www.youtube.com/user/admiralvic1
It's a software called MagicaVoxel, and it's is perfect for Voxel Modeling, it even has its own render engine and 4 pretty materials to choose, but you can also export the models into an .obj. I'm in love with this programm.
Download Link: MagicaVoxel
I'd recommend using the Android app that I created to keep track of your guns, items, synergies, curse, and coolness during your runs - it's exactly the type of app that I wish existed when I were starting out in the Gungeon (so I created it). I've PMed you a code so that you can get it for free. Enjoy!
I'm using Wiki for Gungeon
It's good for item lookup, but if you need to know stuff in-depth I still visit the website. Still pretty new to gungeon myself.
What's up, Gungeoneers!
My name is Max (WWSPlays) and I've been streaming for about 3 months; mainly Binding of Isaac, Diablo 3, and random indie titles.
Enter the Gungeon came out and I have been streaming and doing videos since it's release and, while I'm not very good at the moment, these games take time!
Come check out WWS Plays: Enter the Gungeon!
You can also check out my Twitch channel where I go online Tuesday - Friday w/ Gungeon!
Hello everyone! I am Treners, and I will be streaming Gungeon this evening from about 7PM GMT (about 20 minutes after I post this) for about 2 hours or so.
I am not good at Gungeon but hopefully you'll come hang out anyway :)
Well you should be able to go here: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/
That will tell you your specs. But if you can't run it well enough with the lowest settings and the lowest resolution, then you either have to play it with a crappy framerate or upgrade your hardware.
Hey if it helps they have an app. You can scan it with your camera or do a search. Helps figure out synergies, bosses and other NPC's
I guess they're referring to this app, at least I found it to be quite helpful. You can search for items by name or description and, most importantly, a really cool camera recognizer.
I actually find it easier on switch due moving with control stick rather than using WASD.
There is also an article saying switch version is easier. Here
I honestly don't do anything specific , I just dodge the bullets and use the dodge roll the least I can to make more difficult.
A little bit of Enter The Gungeon fanart I've spent the last couple of days on. Her design is based on a combination of the in-game sprites and the animated trailers for the game.
Let me know what you think!
Rendered in Eevee using Blender 2.8
Hair modelled with the assistance of the Hair Tool addon
Cape modelled using Blender's built-in cloth simulator
From the descriptions it seems so but i think this affect is a glitch. In this stream https://www.twitch.tv/cobaltstreak/v/58785481 around 09:31:30 he bought an elder blank after he found cigarettes on a chest. Then he could spam the elder blank without health loss from cigarettes.
Hey fam! Im gonna stream for a couple of hours before bed but I pretty much stream almost all days afternoon starting 5 pm GMT-5 or earlier!
https://www.twitch.tv/chillrox
Im a chill guy who likes to have fun with people that enter! You can come to teach me stuff also!
EDIT: Im playing couple heroes f the storm to check my connection while my mom watches netflix haha, gonna come back tomorrow with more gungeon and hots!
Yeah, it's similar to Casey. Some folks like it, some don't.
If you haven't, take a look at RES, the Reddit Enhancement Suite. Nice browser extension that will (beyond other wonderfully helpful things) add Word-like formatting buttons above the reply window.
[Once you're more comfortable with the game- that is, you can consistently make it to the fourth or fifth floor- I recommend that you get the app "Gungeon Tools" on your phone. It acts as an inventory and hidden stat tracker for your run. It also has a synergy tracker and a tab for items that best work with your build. I suggest getting it so late because of the fact that it has a good number of spoilers for the game- mostly character names and item names. Here's the link, if you don't want to find it yourself: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrkipling.gungeontools ]

Probably this one.
I know you mentioned you have an iPhone but for those of us with Android phones, this unofficial app uses your phone camera to identify items quickly
It definitely is: it's fun, it's challenging, it's self-aware, it's not that frustrating, it is definitely worth the money. But if you are doubtful, i've researched and in gog.com they sell it cheaper for some reason. I hope I've helped
Hey there, here are those files... sorry they're so late. I hope you can still use them for your friend! https://send.tresorit.com/a#QtMlOXpbLjYS3ry4hDVd4A
Hey friend, thanks for your patience. Unfortunately we didn't get approval from Dodge Roll to sell. However, here is the Gimp file she used for these: https://send.tresorit.com/a#QtMlOXpbLjYS3ry4hDVd4A
Link to the app is the following: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simonemallei.gungeonrecognizer
For those that have not seen my previous posts: I'm developing an Android app that permits you to recognize the items/guns in the game through your camera (I'm using a bit of Image Processing and Deep Learning to obtain the dataset examples and to train the model).
I've published the 1.1 Update and the updates are the following:
- Added "Sinergies" for each item
- Added "Quality" for each item
- Changed item's layout
The model now performs really better (sometimes you just need to adjust the zoom, but generally works on the first attempt).
Big updates: So, I've published the first version of the app!
I've noticed that sometimes the recognition process still seems to not work, but I didn't want to let the project unfinished, hence I published the first version while I'm already working on an update in order to have a better model.
The link to the app is the following: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simonemallei.gungeonrecognizer
If you want to give me any advice or anything else don't hesitate to comment (private messages are ok as well).
PS: If I can't link the app due to the subreddit's rules, I'll edit the comment.

The book is like 800$ so ya... but https://www.amazon.com/Enter-Gungeon-Ammonomicon-Limited-Bundle-Playstation/dp/B081VZQ9MV
Yeah it's mobile apps. On Android. One is called gungeon tools and the other is called wiki for gungeon
There is a gungeon wiki app that gives a list of every unlockable in the game and give a bunch of other info that helps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pt.kiotto.enterthegungeon if you have Android
I like to keep things simple by using JS, React, and Redux (which I know well) and packaging it with Phonegap. It's a relatively simple app, just time-consuming to make, so it doesn't need anything more complicated than this. It also worked quite well for my previous app, which has good reviews and has sold well.
I've open-sourced the base template that I use when creating apps this way, if anybody is interested.
Your first assumption was correct, some active items are rechargeable and others disappear after use. In-game there's no way to tell which does what, without prior experience or consulting a guide. (The wiki does also specify the type of use of items on the specific item's page under the recharge category.) If you've got a phone nearby, and want to avoid spoilers, I'd recommend this app.
https://www.amazon.com/Skull-Co-Joystick-Nintendo-Controller/dp/B071FMCLZ7?th=1&psc=1
Check these out. I use an Xbox controller when I play games on PC so the switch sticks felt way too small at first. Slapped these babies on and they feel so much better. The smallest ones with the concave feel exactly like Xbox One S controller sticks. The physical position of the right stick still kinda bothers me for gungeon and splatoon, but the size of the sticks is no longer an issue and they feel great.
