Use NordVPN They have a deal going on right now too
I'm also from Germany. This is how I subscribed. I used NordVPN on my Android Phone and selected Mexico. Than I purchased it via inApp Purchases via the official F1TV App. After that you can watch everything without the VPN even with German Commentary
One could (and I am not endorsing anyone do this) hypothetically get a VPN service and subscribe to F1 TV Pro via a mobile phone. NordVPN is pretty good and pretty cheap on average if you get a three year plan. One could then set the location to, say, France, where F1 TV works. Now if one would try to buy F1 TV Pro on the website, one would have to provide an address, which in this case would not be in France. One could, however, download NordVPN (not sponsored BTW) on an iOS or Android device and then use the app store or play store to purchase F1 TV Pro, in which case an address is not required. Again, hypothetically.
I went to the Play Store link for the F1TV app on the web and it now let's me install to my Android TV devices. I am in the US. Have a Shield TV and a Chromecast with Google TV.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.formulaone.production
You can't set the resolution using the website or the app.
There is a workaround, you can run Kodi and this F1TV-Plugin. In there you can force the bandwidth using the "Select Program" option. It's a bit heavy considering everything, but for me it works better then anything official as long as their CDN can hold up to deliver the feed. Also you could put this on a raspberry or anything which can run kodi, which makes it perfect for the living room setup.
I don't have an IPhone, but I used the 30 day free trial on NordVPN to create an account in the Netherlands and pay the first bill with the VPN on, but after that I have never used the VPN again and it works totally fine on multiple devices.
For me, yes. I pay F1TV (+ ProtonVPN) less than I paid Sky (and I only paid it for F1, pretty much) and by switching to F1TV I have access to a less restrictive app, more content and at a higher quality.
Plus, I don't have to deal with my country's Sky commentator constant screaming and babbling, but that's personal preference.
Hello fellow Canadian! I imagine TSN will cling on to the exclusive rights here until they're pried from their cold dead hands.
So tired of those assholes. How about you show ALL practice sessions? You've got five goddamn channels now FFS!
I was using NordVPN last year to watch F1TV with TSN as my backup when F1TV invariably shit itself. (Why they didn't partner with MLB I've no idea. They were the first sport to start streaming and do an amazing job.)
Wonder if I can be somewhere other than Latvia now...
It’s pathetic. Btw Nolitos post in here worked. Using NordVPN and set mine to Latvia. Signed up no problem via Google Pay. Works fine. Waiting for FP3 to be archived to truly test it. Account worked on PC and IOS too. Though I’ve no sound in app on the latter.
Edit: I’m an idiot. Had do not disturb on.
Oh wow I just posted another comment similar to this. My suggestion would just be to have a "first track" icon like this: https://thenounproject.com/search/?q=first+track&i=182653 next to the rewind button on the bar that you already have. I can live with joining the video as it's live because I can just cover the top half while I rewind to the top :)
Doesn't work like that, the video stream is send as UDP packets, that by design don't require Ack from destination, which also means there's no way to time stamp them unless you use TCP which it's never done because it will increase the load and total bandwidth technically by a factor of 3.

I’m using Ivacy which works fine. I got a 5 year deal on Black Friday a few years back, so if you can wait til then you’ll probably get some good long term deals, but I think Ivacy is pretty reasonable anyway.
I did use an Asus RT-AC86U with NordVPN up until a few weeks ago but even with Noah’s app it would be poor resolution most of the time, For the last 3 races I’ve had a Netgear R7000 with Expressvpn software installed on it (My Asus router wasn’t compatible with their router app) and turned on their light way protocol and at home i have 500mb internet and the picture was perfect, Maybe swap VPN’s? Expressvpn support manual config so try the free month, Either way i hope you get it sorted
Yes. Get a VPN for your phone. Subscribe via the F1TV App and pay via the PlayStore. Once you enable the VPN (I use Netherlands because it's the free option in ProtonVPN) you should see more options (Pro).
I live in Italy as well and I'm using ProtonVPN to connect to Switzerland (you need the basic paid plan for that) and watch F1TV Pro. I had no issues whatsoever, but it mostly depends on your connection speed.
Also I use the PC app Race Control, which apparently has a lot less issues than the official app/website
It's gotta be their viewer code because this season has been nearly flawless for me (other than a handful of microstutters) with the Nvidia Shield 3rd party app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.leonardoxh.f1
There is still no word on an official F1TV AndroidTV app, but in the mean time you can use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.leonardoxh.f1
I subscribed to F1 TV when I was on holiday in Florida so that we could watch the Monaco GP whilst out there 😂
Since returning to the UK I have been using ExpressVPN with a connection to USA and it works well for iPad, iPhone and web browser on a laptop.
I use CyberGhost. Set to Netherlands. I set up a new Google Mail account and then set up a new F1TV account with it. Set country to Netherlands. Paid with a UK card through the mobile app/Play Store. It wouldn't let me use the UK card through F1TV directly so couldn't get the pre season offer/discount. I've had no problem with it all season.
I've started a ExpressVPN free trial and I've trialled watching the 2021 Italian Grand Prix replay. Compared to the free one I'm using its working faultlessly at the highest quality where the free one struggled to play 360p🥴 Hopefully it's the same story for the live stuff this weekend. The VPN was the problem then. Thank you for this info also. I'm on 4k firestick btw.
I just checked through every single NordVPN Turkey server in an incognito tab and always got the 65€ price. Does it immediately give me the Turkish lira quote if I'm lucky with the right VPN server or is there something later on, where I can select currency etc.?
I have a 4G EE router (low average 30mbps) and NordVPN UK to USA and not had an issue at all with F1TV. Even using multi-viewer with 4 windows open.
Could you be using a machine that can't keep up?
I use NordVPN to access a US account and pretty consistently get to use it with the first server I connect to. Not sure what the cost differences are between Portugal/US. The best way to pay is to use the phone app so you can pay with Google/Apple Pay as well so they cant track where the card is from
Pokémon i haven't used any Chromebooks so I'm not sure if it will work or not, but I have had success in the past on older Android phones and later on Android tv's when sideloadin apps on them.
I used Ultimate rotation control to lock apps in the landscape mode on the tv. Maybe it can force lock F1TV on chromebook as well.
I went with a VPN to Austria and then purchased a Year Subscription via the Google Play Store. But you didnt need to activate the VPN to watch races. Might work via IOS but I cant confirm that.
I bought years of NordVPN for £72 as I got a good deal through a promo code and it worked out way cheaper than buying monthly. Also I can claim it as a business expense.
When that was set up, I set my location to the US and signed up for F1TV Pro on my phone so I could use apple pay. I thought it would try to change me in USD, but for some reason charges me £5.99GPB monthly.
I then put the VPN on my laptop and logged in to F1TV. It wouldn't let me view anything until I changed my profile which was (automatically set to UK, despite being on a VPN) to the US.
It was super easy in the end. I thought it would be harder.
I really do not know why they don't just release it more widely already. On my 2017 Philips 55pus7272 android tv this works just great, maybe just a bit slower than what on my Google Chromecast with Google TV where the app is officially available on the play store.
But back to the point of how to sideload the app on your Sony tv.
First go Here with your phone. This will ask you to download the latest F1TV Android tv apk file. Then install Send files to TV on both your phone and television.
Then finally just make sure that both devices are in the same wifi network and on the phone select "send" and on the tv select "receive" on the send files to tv app.
Then you just open the apk file from the send files app downloads list and when asked give that app permissions to install other apps.
That then should have started the installation process and you should see F1 tv app on your application list.
You can just go there and download the F1TV android tv version to your phone. Then go to the play store on your phone and Sony tv and install Send files to tv on both devices.
Then just hit receive on the tv end and send on your phone and send the android tv version to the tv. I had to do this same thing on my Philips Android tv which has the same issue of F1TV app missing from the play store.
And after they release a new version you have to do this same thing again, but after the first time it should take you less than 5 minutes to do in the future.
Reason why they just don't enable it to play store on all Android tv televisions with new enough os version makes no sense at all.
I had two different outcomes using NordVPN connected to a Netherlands server:
Mobile - Quali (live) option was available and working fine
Google TV w/ Chromecast - Quali NOT showing up
I've tried different servers, different countries (Portugal), same issue all over again. Quite frustrating
Yeah I'm in Australia with US subscription and VPN - thought I'd try disconnecting NordVPN on the Chromecast and see if it worked, same issue though.
What's odd is I can't see any other 2022 practice, qualifying or race either
Just to add, I tried a few VPNs and most free ones didn't work for me (in the subscribing stage) - I used a free trial of Private Internet Access to make my account and get Pro subscription, and then cancelled the VPN before I got charged. Now I use one literally called "Free VPN" whenever I use the app and it works fine... You probably already know, but remember to pay with Google Pay otherwise it detects where your card is registered to
Thanks for the idea. I’m using NordVPN but unfortunately that Turkish VPN will take me straight to the European plans, same goes for Windscribe. I’ve setup my VPN to India and I got the monthly €2,99 plan and paid it from within the app via Apple Store.
Install Drm info and tell us what it says under widevine cdm. It might be that the drm features of your phone are not high enough, so these services that use widevine drm only go up to 480p on your phone.
Do you happen to have Netflix subscription? If you do, you could test it out too as it has similar drm solution where they block the higher end streams if you don't have right type of drm.
This is an older thread but incase anyone like me stumbles across it while trying to figure out what the problem was I figured I'd comment here as well. I was having the same issue where I would go to play anything in the F1TV app on my Roku and it would crash and send me back to the home screen. I also use Unlocator Smart DNS for MLBTV and its dumb blackouts. I have that set up through my router and its never been a problem before all of last season and the first 2 races of this season. Doing some troubleshooting it looks like if I disable that my F1TV functions just fine. I don't know enough as to why that would effect things, but that was my fix to the problem.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.formulaone.production&hl=en_GB&gl=US
it is 100% on the play store.
ExpressVPN works great. I was visiting family in the UK during the last race, VPN’d back to the US and streamed the whole race at HD quality. I was surprised at how well it worked. Previously I’d had no end of trouble going the other way and trying to use NowTV over VPN.
Which one? I use the 4K stick and even have to run VPN on it to get Pro (using Ivacy). Not once did it lag or stutter for me this season. Actually had more issues using the Android phone app in comparison.
If you don’t want to go down the VPN route, you can also use a Smart DNS proxy. I use Getflix. This is a paid service that provides a DNS from a different country, and in effect does the same thing as the VPN connection insofar as it makes the F1TV app think you’re connecting from a country where you can legitimately subscribe to F1TV Pro.
The reason I went down this route was I have an Apple TV and I wanted to watch on my TV with as little faff as possible, so I set the DNS on the Apple TV to the Netherlands, and then I just watch via the F1TV app. It works flawlessly and doesn’t require a new connection each time as long as your internet IP address doesn’t change (if it does you just reset it via the Getflix app/website).
Another benefit of a Smart DNS Proxy compared to a VPN is it tends to get a faster connection, I guess because it’s not encrypting the data or whatever the VPN is doing.
Best way to sideload apk files to Android tv in my opinion is to download those apk files to your phone and then use Send files to tv to send the files to your tv.
Just install the app on your phone and tv, and then just send F1TV apk file to your tv.
I used ProtonVPN on PC and a free NL VPN.
Created the Account, selected a plan but I couldn't buy it.
So i installed ProtonVPN on my Android, selected again a free NL VPN and logged in with my new created Account. Selected the Plan (F1TV Pro) and paid via GooglePay (Paypal).
Since the buy, never needed the VPN again, prob cauz im still in Germany.
If you have a android smart tv (most of them are inguess) go to the google playstore (NOT the tv appstore, the google playstore (you might need to install that one first) there you will find the F1 TV app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.formulaone.production&hl=nl&gl=US
If you install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidfung.drminfo this will tell you if your device supports Widevine (it should) CDM
Tried this out today because i had some problems with Servustv. shitty vpn usage etc idk what really was the problem
privately i use surfshark for vpn, but that did not work with f1tv so i needed to use Protonvpn. maybe it helps others here wo are trying it with surfshark, definetly recommend to do it with ProtonVPN
Worked for me:
-> Subscription is active
This worked for me last night. Used Mullvad via the Netherlands. It wouldn't let me do it using my old account from last year, but I created a new one and made sure to set my location as Netherlands on sign up. Paid with Apple Pay and it's all good.
I have noticed that I can only watch when connected via the VPN this season. Last year, after signup it didn't seem to care, so I wonder if they are cracking down this season.
UK - NordVPN - if I pause or disconnect my VPN then the stream stops. I've been trying all morning to get it onto my TV but thanks to HDCP and other issues I'm having no luck. Even TeamViewer to laptop didn't work as it lets me see the app but not the stream.
I'm about to go out and buy a HDMI to USB C cable, plug my phone into my TV, and see if that works.
So to confirm… once you have successfully purchased F1TV Pro using a VPN you no longer need to use a VPN to watch live?
I chose America and have since watched testing and some pst races on there while using a VPN. I just paid for NordVPN but on my iPhone 12 the stream quality is so bad I can’t even read the position tower.
Hello. I am UK-based, and the most basic package to access Formula 1 is through Sky at £39/mo with an eighteen month contract - something I would prefer not to do. During the previous F1 season, I used ExpressVPN (set to US) on an iPhone and/or iPad with the F1 TV app (and a F1 TV Pro account) and used AirPlay to stream to Apple TV; this worked well. I have tried to use this again, but am receiving the error code ‘BM2101’. I have tried multiple iOS/iPadOS devices (latest software), Apple TV HD & Apple TV 4K, multiple VPN locations for which the F1 TV app is able to stream F1 TV Pro content live, but consistently see the same error message. I’ve been trying to sort this out for the last three hours, but am not making any progress. To be clear, I am streaming from an iOS/iPadOS device directly to an Apple TV (HD and/or 4K). Others who have reported a similar issue resolved the issue by streaming via AirPlay directly to an Apple TV - something I am already doing. Would anyone be able to offer any guidance? Thank you.
By getting a VPN like ExpressVPN
I used ProtonVPN on my IPhone, because it lets you set your location to Netherlands for free. Then I purchased a monthly subscription via AppStore, using PayPal as payment option.
This works finde for me until now, just watched the race even without VPN. The live Race was German commentary only, but it seems you can watch it afterwards in every language you like. Do not know if this is relevant, but I already had a F1TV Account where I purchased an annual subscription way back in 2018 or 2019 but stopped watching afterwards.
I have a slight problem that I am not able to watch on my laptop, but airdrop on Samsung Smart TV via IPhone works just fine.
Just install the official F1TV app from play store to the DNA-TV hub, but if it doesn't have it then just sideload it from Apkmirror using your phone.
Then install Send files to tv on both your phone and your dna-tv hub, and then just send the apk over to the box and watch without needing to cast.
Out of curiosity, what results do you get from Ookla Speedtest anything above 10mb and you should be ok for 720p or 1080p.
Are you using same connection on both devices? Or are you using your home connection on your computer and 5g on your phone? Would the stream work if you connect the phone to your wifi network or would the issues continue?
I signed up for F1TV Pro yesterday in Singapore (not available here natively) and am using the Google TV app with NordVPN (server set to US) to watch testing and some archived races to mess around with the multiple cameras.
Absolutely zero issues so far but we'll see how it holds up when the season starts.
Sorry wrong words. At first I was not able to screen mirror from my S21 to my Samsung TV whilst NordVPN was on. Hence I could not mirror F1TVPro to my TV. I use Smartthings to mirror my phone to TV in normal nonVPN scenario.
Step1: I then did Split Tunneling in the nordvpn app with Smartthings as my trusted app (because I use this to screen mirror) and I ticked the checkbox below that to discover local devices.
Now I am able to have my NordVPN on with F1tvpro and mirror my phone to the TV.
It should work the same with chromecast if you select the right app in Step 1. I am getting my chromecast next week so will be able to test then
I was able to do it like this:
Download VPN (Freedome) and connect to Poland
Download Formula 1 app (NOT F1 TV app)
Create an account and set country to Poland
Paid through my Google account
I am in a country that has F1TV Pro (Finland), but the price is 110€ and there is no introductory discount.
I didn't even need to create a new Google account or anything, and just used my local credit card.
For whatever reason neither Philips or Sony has F1 tv app on their play store. Easiest way to fix this issue is to "sideload" the app by installing it from .apk file. What you need to do is to first install Send files to tv to both on your phone and your tv, and then go to Apkmirror and download the latest Android tv version of the F1 TV app.
You also either have to allow send files to tv app to install 3rd party apps on your tv, so you can use it to install that apk or you need to download additional file browser app as well.
While i mainly use my Chromecast with Google tv which has that app available on the store, i also tried my method on my Philips 55pus7272 Android tv. While it is noticeable more lagging to use in app, but soon as the playback controls disappear it works just fine. Also my Philips is from 2017, so if your Sony is newer and has better hardware, then you should be ok and lag free.
For whatever reason both Philips and Sony Android TV televisions do not have F1 TV app on their play store, but i have tested the official app sideloaded and at least the race archives with different cameras and audio tracks do work.
My country just only got this service, so I can't confirm if live sessions will work or not. Easiest way to sideload anything to TV's is to go to the apkmirror website and download the Android tv apk to your phone and then install Send files to tv app to your phone and your tv. Then just send that apk through that app and give it permission to install 3rd party apps so you don't have to install file browsers to open that file either. I know that there are multiple other methods to do this, but i have found this to be the easiest way to do it. Because you can just get the apk through your phone and then send it over the wifi to your tv.
Thank you! I've been trying the same for the last hour :D I connected to a Netherlands VPN (via ProtonVPN), created a new Gmail-Account and ordered F1TV Pro. Worked so far, but I can't get through the payment. It won't accept my CC or my PayPal. I'm downloading BlueStacks now, maybe this will do it. I can't handle another year of German sky sport F1 ...
I have download the apk for "F1 TV" from apkmirror and sideload it over adb on my Sony Bravia Android TV.
Filemanager and USB Stick also ok for Sideload.
You can use Pushbullet or RSS Feed to be informed if come a new Version.
To Control the app, you should use a App or Mouse to control the cursor.

Today I went the Turkey route and paid Euro 35 (~US$ 40). Here are the steps:
Downloaded Bluestacks on my laptop (https://www.bluestacks.com/download.html)
Created a Google account from there with an address of a random hotel in Istanbul and added my credit card to it
Downloaded F1TV and then it didn't work (I got Euro prizes)
Then go to the round icon with the 6 dots (settings) in Bluestack
Click on 'settings'
Click on 'accounts
Click on 'Google'
Click on the 3 vertical dots in the top right and then click on 'delete'
Now log in again with your Google account
Download F1TV again and you will get the prices in Turkish Liras
I have created an account with language Dutch with my own normal e-mail address. This just worked.
It seems that if you take a 'per month' subscription it's even a couple of Euro's cheaper.
I’m intending to do this same this year with my Apple TV. I already have a VPN subscription (Ivacy) and F1TV pro subscription, would you mind pointing me to how you setup your router with the VPN? I looked into it briefly but I wasn’t sure whether setting it up in that way would make all my internet usage go via the VPN which I’m not sure I want, if it’s set to Netherlands for example. Or do you manually disable it when you’re not on F1 TV? Cheers
I highly recommend using a third-party viewer such as Race Control
I've been using it all season with my multi-monitor setup (3 monitors and TV are all connected to my desktop) -- main feed to TV, timing on one monitor, and one or two driver feeds depending on what's happening.
Also, there are listed discounts here: https://dealspotr.com/promo-codes/f1tv.formula1.com
Another way is to install Chocalatey and then type "choco install f1viewer" (without the quotes) in a cmd window - that's it. you can also use it for updates and new releases.
This is my way to download stuff: (I'm a Mac user)
Open dev console in browser & go to network tab. Type ".m3" in the filter field (without quotes)
Play a video
Grab the first url. Will generally end something like index.m3u8
Use StreamLink to download.
I use this command: streamlink -o race.mp4 --hls-segment-threads 10 --ringbuffer-size 100M "grabbed-url" best
Replace "grabbed-url" & race.mp4 appropriately.
Tip: You could also save the file while streaming it (useful when watching live). Command: streamlink -r file-name.mp4 --hls-segment-threads 3 --ringbuffer-size 200M video-url best
Pro tip: If you use those commands frequently, put them in a script (or bash_profile if using nix env). With streamlink and yt-dlp you could download just about any video on the internet.
If you can't watch then you have plenty of time to leave a review of F1TV here: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/f1tv.formula1.com
One day the bosses will see how appalling this 'service' is.
Best you're probably going to get is the official Formula 1 app for Android/IOS. During the race you get live telemetry data there. Looks something like this.
I've used it before and it's usually ahead of the live stream so it's pretty easy to sync with the world feed. Now to somehow make an overlay with it you'd probably have to install an Android emulator on your PC with the F1 app and maybe use OBS to make a pretty overlay.
For me just having it opened on my phone/tablet next to my monitor was good enough but you do you. Hope this helps :)
I think yes, because it worked with me. I'll tell you my experience so you'll get an idea.
-got NordVPN on Android (and PC too) -connected in Belgium -downloaded F1 TV on smartphone -subscribed with my main email -chose Belgium as country -paid through Google play store with my pre paid card attached to it (so F1 don't know I'm paying from a country where this service is blocked) -Any country I tried in Europe with VPN blockedw from watching live races -But with incognito mode on PC and clearing the cache on smartphone, with the VPN in the US the service works.
(I think is safe to login every time you want to watch a race or something)
Here it is my story, I hope to help you
I'm using NordVPN.
I tried the site but a the moment there are allo empty black windows, and no live event.
What I'm thinking is that, in a way or another, they understood that I paid from Italy and not Belgium even if I used a VPN and google play
The only thing that works it to leave reviews. I can tell you that these won't go unnoticed. So go to the Apple / Google App Store and share your thoughts. Not using the IOS / Android app, then use Trustpilot: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/f1tv.formula1.com
F1 has been bought by Liberty Media to create shareholder-value. The more you make visible that the service fails from time to time, the less customers sign-up and the less value is being created for Liberty's shareholders. It's all they care about.
As an aside I wouldn't trust free VPN addons like that. Obviously they cost money to run, so where do they make their money? ProtonVPN are funded by their paid plans and in my opinion are more trustworthy.
it's a great app ... you can lower the streams to 720p using streamlink or the hotkeys as said in the posts ... you might add a bit more that way 😉👌
METHOD 2 - using PCs
first you need to download a couple of things (if you don't have them already)
Streamlink https://streamlink.github.io/install.html#other-platforms here are a couple of packages, as i use windows, i can only speak for this platform, i used windows portable version(newest one) -- feel free to try on OSX or linux and return with comments about it
VLC 3.0+ so any version of vlc 3.0 and above supports chromecast from Playback-->Renderers
Chrome Browser you can actually use any browser that has inspect element tab, most of us use chrome so I'll write tut for it
after all of this is set up, fire up cmd.exe (command prompt) enter streamlink and see if there is output something like usage: streamlink ..... if there is, that means you are all set to go, streamlink works
then, fire up chrome and navigate to f1tv.com page- log in press F12, this will open up a developer screen in f1tv page navigate to stream you want to play and play it
in f12 tab, there is a sub-tab called Network, press it in upper left corner there should be an option to search/filter for stuff loaded in Network tab - filter for "m3u8" and hit enter search for master.m3u8 and press right click on it -- copy -> copy link address
after this, you have about a minute to get everything else to work - don't worry that's 10 times more than you need
go back to command prompt and paste this in it( you CAN'T use ctrl+v)
streamlink "insert link here INBETWEEN quotation marks" 1080p --hls-audio-select *
the stream should load in VLC with FX and English commentary (at least testing shows up like that) after it is in vlc you can cast it to chromecast from playback tab --> renderers
after you have it playing in vlc, you can close chrome as you will need it again only to copy newer link if stream shuts down or smth
Two possible issues. Either streamlink needs to be told which audio track to pass along to mpv, or mpv needs to be told which audio track to play. I don't use streamlink and am on my phone, but I'd start here:
All of the options for mpv are here
aid
to specify the correct audio track. While playing, F9 shows audio track information and # cycles between them if you need to find the right id. If there's only one audio track, then you need to tell streamlink which ones you want.
All of the options for streamlink are here
hls-audio-select
with a language code or * for all.
means absolutely no audio stream (to save in bandwidth) and even if you unmute/mute, there's no audio; video stream will only change if they start sending more streams, like 1440p or 4K, so I doubt that will change for a big while) and once again, I used to save bandwidth, no need to use 1080p res on a small tiny video 😁
you can see all available streams in the right side log when you open 1 stream in MPV

you then choose whatever you prefer
but try with just one stream, and see how things do...
here's a full list of available options, read them and see how they fit into your own setup
Have you downloaded MPV? if so you can choose "play with MPV". If not i recommend you get MPV or VLC to stream. You can also copy the link to a player that supports the file type. I recommend you checkt out the mega thread for more tools. There are a fair few options.
No selector, but mpv uses the highest quality available by default. The way F1TV is set up is that you are recieving the url of a "master" playlist file which declares the possible quality levels. All F1viewer does is passing that url to the player software and lets that handle it. In this case the creator of mpv has decided against a convinient way to select the quality level, but i'm not aware of any regular player software which allows you to do that.
If your connection can't handle FullHD you might want to try Kodi with the F1TV addon by bbsan2k. Kodi is a bit clumsy because it is a complete media center which is meant to run fullscreen on the HTPC next to your television. But InputStream allows you to choose the actually quality you want to watch.
Sure, it’s not hard. Open the developer tools in your browser (Firefox guide), then open the network request and look for the first m3u8 file you see. F1TV is not trying to hide it, thankfully.
That said I’ve switched to just using F1Viewer, so far it’s been very good.
I quickly figured that a browser wasn't a good idea since it worked fine on iPhone using ExpressVPN but on Windows it didn't.
I changed to a different VPN provider and to using Race Control but perhaps the new VPN was unwarranted.
Thank you guys for all your answers! That was really encouring and I tried to order F1 TV Pro several times now through a VPN (connected via ProtonVPN with an Austrian Server), but I can't get it to work. I'm using the mobile app, tried several accounts and even registered a new one, but I'm stuck in a paypal-login-loop. Whenever I get to the payment, I choose paypal and I have to login and confirm, login and confirm, login and confirm ... You see where this is going (it's a complete mazespin ...). What payment option did you guys choose? Wait. What payment option WOULD you guys choose? :D We're surely not violating the ultra fair ToS of F1 TV, it's as holy as the FIA rule book... ... ... ... ... ...
I get a warning message saying "Unfortunately you are not eligible for this plan because of your previous purchase history or you are in a territory that is not valid for this selection. Please choose another plan". Is there anything you recommend? Already got NordVPN.
I'm having the same issue. Once I tried to recover the F1TVPro after the summer break, it seems that they are doing strict check if you use VPN... I was unable to subscribe again.
Is there another way to do it ? I tried with Google Play with the NordVPN activated.
Logging in works fine anywhere with or without VPN. It's starting the stream where the actual check if you are "allowed" to watch takes place. Also, if you try to login from a banned IP, it won't let you. That happened to me when I was connected with the NordVPN Denmark server.
They work great for me after replacing two Rokus with them. The F1TV app did work great on Roku but after too many issues with them (apps not working, crashes, etc.) including reboots of a new TCL TV I gave up.

We have a router running ExpressVPN, so that our Roku TV (or any other device we want) can country-hop. Fortunately, though, I don’t need a VPN to access F1TV in my country.
The native Roku app for F1TV is how to go
I just grabbed my work laptop and logged in with my corporate VPN in US, and it works fine there... So looks like they have not suspended my account and it seems they've just blocked NordVPN. Maybe it's luck of the draw which IP you get and if it's on their blacklist. So frustrating!!!
Doesn't seem to work for me, just tried Paris on NordVPN and it won't show me anything live. Getting sick and tired of this service I paid for... When pirate streams seem to work easier and without issue. Such a joke
God, I absolutely despise this service. I don't understand why they are going so far out of their way to geoblock, NordVPN doesn't work for me anymore so I assume they've blacklisted NordVPN IP addresses. I understand they do geoblocking because of license agreements but to go out of their way to try and block VPN is going above and beyond. We've paid for the service!
Is anyone here using a VPN successfully right now?
So, im from germany and had the same problem. Subscribed via NordVPN over the AppStore. The first three Race Weekends everything seemed fine then Boom. On the 4th Race weekend i could not Login so i wrote the Support why it is not working. The Lady told my my account was suspended and i should get Sky FOR 30€/MONTH… because F1TV PRO is not available in my Country even tho at every Race i used the VPN. I told her that GeoBlocking is not allowed under EU Law (EU) 2018/302. She told me that in the F1TV ToS it stated they can block ur account anytime. We have Laws in Europe that should prevent that but F1 Really does not Care
ProtonVPN on Android, connect to Netherlands, get F1TV via the app (maybe create a new F1tv account if you already have one) and pay via Google. That way F1TV can't actually see your credit card and thus not the cards country. Or use PayPal via Google or anything else. Just use Google to pay. And that's it, you can use it without the VPN connection now.
You just download the App, subscribe through the app. My AppStore payment is linked to an PayPal account in Germany, although Germany is not allowed to have a Full F1TV Sub. Im using CyberGhost VPN works just fine with me.
you can get VPN for mobile too, I used ProtonVPN, but you've to connect to US for live races/practice etc.
I often found the connection wasn't great though, not sure if just F1TV issues or my internet service issues.
Hi, fellow SG'er. Yes, that is correct. You also need a US credit card (or pay through the Play Store/iTunes but these carry a surcharge). I use NordVPN. Note though that these days, VPN doesn't play well with a desktop browser, So I have had to depend on the F1TV app.
Yeah, it's exactly the same for me on my 2020 Sony. Casting to the TV via both Airplay and Chromecast results in some minor, but definitely noticeable, stutter.
I suggest using the "F1TV viewer for AndroidTV" app, its available in the PlayStore. There are no playback issue using that app.

I'm facing, exactly same issue, after F1 TV Pro switching to the new API, I can't access to the stream content (videos and live sessions) through VPN.
Tested different VPN services (ExpressVPN and NordVPN) and different platforms ( Web and mobile ) and the error persists. (“You are in an unsupported region “).
I have the exact same problems casting to my Shield TV, I downloaded an app on the Android TV which is called 'F1TV viewer for Android TV' and it's working great!
This is the link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.leonardoxh.f1&hl=nl&gl=US
You don't. I bought TV Pro from Germany via Netherlands VPN (Private Internet Access) and i'm watching without a VPN. They only seem to check your location for the purchase. It's working even after the first rebill.
Idk, I'm from Italy and I have to go through a VPN (only Switzerland seems to be working with ProtonVPN, Netherlands, Austria and Germany all don't work for some reason) in order to watch races. If I try to access it from Italy I get a message saying that I'm in an unsupported country
If you have an Android TV device I recommend using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.github.leonardoxh.f1&hl=en&gl=US
