I've lurked for nearly a decade, never once made an account; congrats for finally making me log-in.
This is for you, it's pretty much the best composite I could create using the various HD pics on the net from a lazy Sunday morning search.
https://www.mediafire.com/?79mrbj5zorxkify
I doubt you'll find a better blend, artists tend to keep their source material under lock and key. Understandably so as their work could just be mass printed without commission, however I don't feel bad about providing the above as:
1.) It's not complete, nor nearly as full res as I'd like it to be. 2.) Mondo create false demand.
No it's not worth it, unfortunately. IIRC, bad subtitles, audio switches from english to japanese to english at random parts. Pirate GiTS (the show anyway) until they fix those issues and re-release it, is my recommendation.
You can read about the problems on the amazon reviews page for season 1 bluray.
Best US release is this one and best overall Blu ray is the Japanese release.
There is literally a link in the sidebar saying "Ghost in the Shell: How to watch FAQ".
Here's some extra info.
Ok... here's the url to it on Dailymotion. It's weird, but you're right... hard to find on YouTube.
If you just Google it, you'll start to get real hits... Might have to be adventurous on what sites you go to though. 😉
I would not mind if Production IG tries to improve the Arise series, but I am still all for a third SAC.
And for reference, here is the announcement of a new GiTS: https://kotaku.com/a-new-ghost-in-the-shell-anime-announced-1794104817
Model kits! There are different ones on Amazon last time I checked.
Edit: I have this but still in a box. Planning on getting the other colors. IIRC, Kotobukiya is cheaper than the wave ones.
Edit 2: There are action figures if you prefer that but try the model kits one, satisfying to build.
It's the name given for Arise's broadcast on TV.
Full Details: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-02-17/ghost-in-the-shell-arise-broadcast-to-add-2-new-episodes/.85069
>The broadcast will recompile the four existing episodes and include two new episodes, to tie the series with the new Ghost in the Shell movie premiering this summer.
Believe it or not, I found it on Amazon! It came out back in 2000 (it was apparently the first book form release of MMI), and seems to command fairly high prices on Ebay. (Like, $5-600 range.) However, deals can still be found... I suspect because so few people even know that an uncensored version of MMI exists...
Here is the link where I found it. Got mine for $160.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/4063363104/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_N2R09AEDCE4NHNGKE2BR
Honestly, $160 is a lot of money. But I have to say this was TOTALLY worth it. Most fun I have had opening something in a long time... And, if you collect the uncensored art, this is a larger format (much larger) than the dinky 2004 Dark Horse edition...
It is in Japanese... but, hey, I guess that's what Google translate is for.😊
I always just took it that she had always been full cyborg and so her brain would never have the external markers of a body to actually start that cycle - also with the possibility that she never had a body or wasn't always female.
I also saw that as her using an often taboo thing to get the males off her case about her potential illicit use of drugs in that frame, but also with the personality clash - feminity of personal regard versus the 'brutish' male overture - which is what is spoken about in SAC.
I would say that the connection to a biological brain having that much control over her mood and her brain activity is exactly what the post-human argument is about (and actually what some recent research on PMS suggests - essentially that women are not moody because they have hormone imbalance but rather when that happens there is discomfort and bleeding mounted with the pressures of everyday life most people would be annoyed and irritable as epiphenomenon to the context not the hormones alone. if you want to read a review)
Edit - explaining that last part a bit more though - the post-human argument would say we put too much focus on the medicalised body to define ourself and our behaviour. More of this is being seen as socialized rather than actually strictly part of our biological self. This isn't against the theory of evolution really - biological changes only occur in epochs and space where the external context demands this change therefore the focus should be on what the context is forcing from the body rather than just the mechanism that makes biological parts work (which is usually the end result of contextual change not the start or explanation for behavioural change in people).
> I think it's pretty obvious he means politics outside of movie. Sure you can have movie with policital themes (most of Oshii movies actaully have political undertones), but the decision making during the creation process shouldn't be influenced by outside politics... such as casting choices, editing, censoring, rewriting, reshooting etc. I think everyone can agree with that.
Casting is intrinsically "political". Choosing a white actress to replace a Japanese character, then re-writing the Japanese character's backstory to fit the white actress -- yes, that's highly political. Whitewashing is the erasure of one culture (in this case, Japanese) with another one (white). That's a political act, in the sense of "the complex of relations between people living in society". It's Japanese culture versus Hollywood Eurocentrism.
"But, Kusanagi's past is a mystery!" Yes, that's an extremely common response -- I've already dealt with that in this FAQ post (click here). Kusanagi Motoko is a Japanese person unless otherwise indicated.
"Outside politics" means nothing in this instance, unless you infer something from Oshii's words that has a particular meaning.
The usual BS:
Sadly, we have not made any announcements about dubbing this movie at this time. Please continue to visit our site at http://www.Funimation.com/blog/ as we will post all new information there first!
I have this book, and the storyboards truly are exquisite.

https://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Original-Collection-Archives-JAPANESE/dp/4800003539
Amazon has quite a few listings, A fellow Redditer suggested me the 2 disk "special edition".
It has the original cut of the film, and quite a bit of special features.
https://www.amazon.com/Ghost-Shell-Special-Atsuko-Tanaka/dp/B0002RQ2T4/
Good price too!
When I bought her and realized she was an import, I wasn't gonna, but when I got home I found out that she's super common online. I found a listing on Amazon for $15 without shipping and handling. So now I'm not sure, hahaha!
https://www.amazon.com/Motoko-Kusanagi-Previews-Exclusive-Figure/dp/B000KDEO22
So the original 1995 movie is having a Special Promotion on Steam for $4.99 and for the same price on Amazon.
Suggestions?
-1 Amazon Instant Video's version lacks the Japanese audio track, but should have the option to download the movie on a mobile device.
-2 Steam's version contains both audio tracks, but can only be streamed. (I don't know how well Steam's streaming service is)
I've never seen this movie, so I kinda want to jump on it in the best possible way.
Ordered. Thanks for the tip! Amazon link: https://smile.amazon.com/Ghost-Shell-README-Shirow-Masamune/dp/1632365316/
NB: use Amazon Smile to raise money for charity while you shop. Batou would do it, that big softy.
It's still a mystery as to why this release had Chant III replaced on the Japanese audio. One Minute Warning by Passengers has, I believe, always been used for the dub (I don't remember why), and you'll even find it on the dub audio of the Japanese import if you choose to buy one.
Funny enough is the last theory I remember seeing was that they had the English 7.1 or Atmos audio done and used that as a base for all of the other tracks. As a result you actually will start to hear Chant III play, but then it cuts back to One Minute Warning once the credits start rolling. Obviously I have no idea if that theory some people had is true or not, but it's interesting given the fact that Chant III does start playing.
I will say that if you still wanted the option to watch 4K 7.1 you can't really go wrong picking up the US release for the price. It's constantly super cheap and is $14 bucks on Amazon right now. I've still kept my steelbook copy since 1. it just looks really nice and 2. if I ever have a 7.1 setup in the future I can experience it that way.

So I have a copy of the Japanese manga and found the original title, and the only thing I got was a paperback edition of the book on Amazon.
Doesn't seem to be a digital version, and even less so any English version. Romanized the title would be Seibutsu no me to sensā.
You must have the English only version. Mine's is bilingual and contains the Japanese text along with its English translation. Here's a link if you want my copy:
https://www.amazon.com/Kodansha-Bilingual-Comics-English-Japanese/dp/4770029195
You mean the anime? There’s no complete collection in English but you can just order the two Border sets (1&2 + 3&4), then Pyrophobic Cult from Amazon JP and then the New Movie.
If you want a complete collection, there’s a Japanese release with everything and English subtitles. https://www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/Attack-Shell-Mobile-Force-Blu-ray/dp/B0751HCKQY/ref=mp_s_a_1_25?crid=26YYI1CEM5L4E&keywords=ghost+in+the+shell+arise&qid=1659945917&sprefix=ghost+in+the+shell+aris%2Caps%2C232&sr=8-25
Big fan of the SnapeZo snapping frames on Amazon. I have six in my house, and swapping posters is pretty easy.
I bought the most recent 4k release and I'm very impressed with the image quality.
No 2.0 enhancements either thank god. I really recommend it. By far the best it's ever looked. I love it.

Alternative Architecture episodes #9 and #10 are new and supposed to lead into the new theatrical film being released this summer.
Episode #9 is on Funimation's schedule for simulcasting today but don't see it available currently. Maybe it was delayed?
> First of all, screw you. That's not what I said, nor close to what I said. Kusunagi isn't even human, she's not Asian. > > Even the wiki's list her as "Cyborg". She's not human.
You don't know what "cyborg" means.
Second, "screw you?" Okay. This conversation is over. Bye.
Although it's not in the bundle, SAC is on sale too:
I was able to find the other Japanese untranslated volumes on Amazon and Ebay, but they're quite expensive
The only places I was able to find the untranslated version were through Amazon and Ebay, but they're quite expensive. I wasn't able to find them anywhere online.
Same was done with episode 3, which has a limited theater release in June and then Blu-Ray in July.
It is Bandai. I don't see any region coding but I I play it on a regular PS3.

Also noticed I have 2.0. Not sure if that is out. My crown jewel though is still SAC 1 and second gig in the metal boxes (DVD).
Ooooh, that is close - I don't think it's the same though.
https://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/BodoniXT#testdrive
If you type in "GHOST IN THE SHELL" (all uppercase) you notice it is very similar, but actually the original had more weight in the stems and bowls. Maybe it was a bolder-version of Bodoni.
Antiheroes by definition lack attributes such as idealism, courage and morality, antiheroes sometimes perform morally correct actions but for personal gain.
Section 9 are not antiheroes they are courageous, act on good standards and are idealists, much of their work offer little to zero personal gains, even tho sometimes they are allowed to break a law they only do it because they have been allowed but most of the time they work within the law.
“It’s not like I had aspirations to be a hero or anything. However, I’m positive we followed a code of justice that all of us believed in without condition or compromise.” – Togusa
The Lionsgate release has a lot of different options for audio (listed in the links I sent from blu-ray.com) if that's important to you. It also has Spanish subtitles, and a digital code used on Vudu. The regular blu-ray disc in Lionsgate release is region locked to A while the Japanese one isn't region locked apparently.
I'm not familiar with any extras on either release so can't comment on that. I don't typically watch extras.
Overall, if you just want a good 4K copy for a low price (and end credits song doesn't matter to you) you can't beat the US Lionsgate release for $14 on Amazon right now.
I imported a Japanese copy since it's my favorite movie of all time and wanted the best possible version with the correct end credit music playing (it's important to me personally). I was also buying the Japanese 4K Innocence release (something we don't have at all) at the time so I included the original since I knew I wanted it eventually and figured I should make the most out of the shipping cost.
https://www.amazon.com/Gits-Stand-Alone-Complex-Blu-ray/dp/B01MXTRQHU/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=ghost+in+the+shell+blu+ray&qid=1622487689&sprefix=ghost+in+the+shell&sr=8-5 This one here, someone said the audio problem is just with one word which isn't a big deal for me.
If you don't own a Blu-ray player, buy the special edition. It comes with a poster that is sold only with the DVD special edition, as well as a behind-the-scenes disc.
If you own a Blu-ray player, buy the Anniverary UHD 4K version. $14.66 on Amazon.
You'd love "After the Long Goodbye"

So, if you carry at all about the 2.0 story, apparently there was only ever 1 release of the uncensored version, in the Man Machine Interface Solid Box... they seem pretty premium, and seem to command pretty high prices.
However, I found two sets in the $150 range on Amazon.
I ordered one...
Just in case you were interested. 👍🏻
https://www.amazon.com/Ghost-ManMachine-Interface-Masamune-Shirow/dp/4063363104
Get the box set. Then get this if you want the uncensored version of volume 1 (at least I hope it's this one): https://www.amazon.com/dp/1569710813/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_A01C92FG9ECVK1WANWMM Last 1 currently in stock!
Direct link to Amazon (rather than the deal site): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LTI1KGO/
It’s a little unclear what version it is. Literally just says “Ghost In The Shell: Movie” so probably the first one though idk if it’s the original or recut.
"Official Log"
I know, really boring name. Here's an amazon link to the only one in English.
I'm not a dub watcher, so I can't comment on the quality of the dub in this version, but this is the one that I picked up. It has both the original and the 2.0 version, subs and dubs both. As far as sub versions go, they're great, can't complain, haven't watched the dub version though, so you may want to browse the reviews.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002NUULNG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Edit: If you do browse the amazon review, do beware a lot of morons there didn't realize that it has the original version, so they left a bad review. The original is under the special features tab.
Sorry. So long ago, I no longer remember. It's possible I got it from YesAsia. Otherwise, I probably googled for it.
ETA: Here's an Amazon link to what I have. It's got pretty minimal stuff on it. No extras, IIRC. Just a menu and settings (for language, etc.).
It did. It wouldn't surprise me if it's out of print.
Here's an amazon link to what I have. Minimal stuff on the BD disc IIRC. Just menus and settings.
Dunno about your first question but I just answered your second question the other day here, yes you can buy Pyrophoric Cult, dunno where you're located but Amazon US has the Japanese bluray of it for around $70. Link here
The Japanese bluray is region A and has English subtitles. Whether it's worth that to you is your decision, it's pretty pricey for a 40min long OVA. And frustrating that it's not really available in the US any other way (AFAIK) considering there are important plot points in it to bridge the gap between Border 4 and 'The New Movie' (who thought that was a great name?). Arise is frustrating in general, I like it but man they made some bad choices making it.
Hate the artwork. Get the regular edition with the gorgeous Mondo artwork instead - https://www.amazon.com/GHOST-SHELL-4K-DGTL-Blu-ray/dp/B08CJTQ91J/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=ghost+in+the+shell+4k&qid=1596511881&sr=8-1

Uncensored and not flipped.
If you have an Amazon account, press the flag icon in the upper right to change to English and you can even order direct from there (still actually likely cheaper/faster than most alternatives).
What do you mean by 2017? “Ghost in the Shell - the new Movie”? In that case this is indeed a very bad place to start.
2007 probably refers to „Ghost in the Shell 2.0“ (not to be confused with innocence)? I'd stay away from that one as well. The DVD should be the right thing, but this Blue-Ray seems almost as cheap while hopefully having higher resolution.
Amazon really muddies the water when they include comments from past versions of DVDs/Blu-rays. I don't see them call out funimation either but I do see the Feb 7th release date.. Has anyone bought from this link and are able to confirm?
You're looking at it in dollars. It's a lot cheaper in pounds. I got it for £14.99.
This is the cheapest I can find it for now:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/272568146167
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1569710813/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_nkHSybJWWHMDN
Yeah, that's the one! And this for Man Machine Interface.
Highly recommend buying them, they're not cheap but they are really nice. Here's a sample page I found
Is this the exact edition you read? Does there appear to be even the slightest difference?
Its not badly priced on amazon US atm link
Yep, the ISBN is 1593072287 and there's still a listing for it on Amazon, although the prices are excessive for even the used copies.
This is the copy I have and it works just fine on all of my US players
and it has both Japanese/English audio with regular subtitles
If for some reason you don't believe me, you can find multiple forum posts around the internet confirming the region free status
