I love picking out by ear voice actors each season, yet I am always blown away when I dig into the details as some actors have so much range I just can't pick them out.
My pick for a favorite VA this season would go to Yumiri Hanamori (Nadeshiko/Lloyd/Sorao/Kon) for playing 4 main characters each with a completely different voice that fits each of those characters very well.
This list is by no means comprehensive and most of the data was taken and cross referenced between myanimelist, anilist and anidb which I treated as fact.

They are all 23-24 y.o., but my Japanese standards and age portrayal they are 100% milfs.
> Aoi Shouta?
> IDEA
I wonder how many times that thing's gonna show back up.
> high-school dropout
(nitpicking) Since she just says 'school', it could also mean college/university. <shrug>
> laundry guy
More cameos from him than from IDEA, please. Also, I hope he's front-row at all their future performances once they're famous and he realizes who they are. :)
It's not a second season. It's a spin off.

> in Alita almost felt like deja vu
had the same feeling watching it the movie theater, having seen the anime some 10+ years and not thought of it since
it had many names as seen for various language releases here https://anidb.net/a147
That is an anidb search for main characters who use a giant sword at some point in their show.
It's Gundam 0083... It's from 91... So yes, that's pretty old. It's the direct sequel to the original Gundam series (though Z, ZZ and Char's Counterattack, all of which take place after 0083 was made before it). But as Star Wars shows us, telling stories in order is obviously not a requirement and Gundam in general takes that to an extreme... Seriously... Just look at this monstrosity https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=rel&aid=715
Hopefully it wont end up like Shingeki no Bahamut: Manaria Friends.
That one is has been postponed indefinitely, it seems.
Cast (so far)
Different voice actors this time round
Arakawa Hiromu certainly knows how to create interesting and human characters who don't fall into gender stereotypes. It seems a fairly consistent trend that works created by women tend, on average, to be a fair bit healthier in their representation of men, and gender generally. This is true in Japanese media as elsewhere.
A couple others that come to mind are Uehashi Nahoko, author of Seirei no Moribito; a story approaching the themes of motherhood, and the coming of age of a young boy, which presents its male characters in a refreshingly healthy light; and Yamamoto Sayo, of Yuri on Ice fame, which just did all sorts of groundbreaking things with male sexuality and gender.
It is interesting that Anime and Manga culture - which, as a bloc, is unarguably one of the most toxic artistic mediums in the world - is also the site of many works which are truly maverick in their progressivism, even in a global context. For instance Wandering Son, by Shimura Takako(another woman, incidentally), is a bluntly direct story of two transgender children - that being a topic which virtually no one, anywhere is willing to address. Not something you would expect out of that industry at a cursory glance.
Iyashikei genre usually lacks serious conflict and gives us a peaceful story. Example: Isekai Shokudou
SoL can have varying degree of drama and stressful moments in it. Example: Hyouka
CGDCT has a main focus on moe. Example: Girls und Panzer
But yea they overlap to some degree.
Edit: I was wrong, it's Kayana Mui.
~~I'm thinking it's supposed to be Segawa.~~

No, it's not. Many different people and studios were invovled.

In that regard aniDB is even better, example: https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=song&songid=102290
If you want the biggest DB, aniDB is the way to go. Other than that it just depends what you like using more.
I have all 3, with MAL as my main profile and the other 2 as backup.
Katanagatari. It looks and feels like an action anime, but it's pretty philosophical at heart and the fights, while exciting, are generally very short.
There are manga that recognizes and distinguishes Ainu culture though. They're not many, but at the least Golden Kamuy and <Kumamiko> have anime adaptations.
Probably the best example that Ryukyu isn't swept under the rug is Mugen from Samurai Champloo.
>I actually enjoy the whole isekai idea
There is literally a link in the sidebar saying "Ghost in the Shell: How to watch FAQ".
Here's some extra info.
Fucking hell just ask for your recommendation instead of facebook blogposting. scroll away.
I recommend reading more of seinen and josei manga since they have a lot more of this stuff that never got adapted to anime.

> Genshiken.
Genshiken stands above the rest. It's "anime within an anime" was actually spun off as a separate 3 episode OVA and 12 episode series. Kujibiki Unbalance and Kujibiki Unbalance (tv)
The other "animes within an anime" are amateurs!

Go here to see the rest of scores for last season. First number is the weighted score, second number is just average.
For anyone who's wondering this is Omoide Poroporo and it is on Netflix. (Might not be available in your country)
(Time-stamp: 00:01:57 - 00:01:59)
I should mention {Ling Feng Zhe}, a Chinese biopic anime about Marx’s youth. It’s only 7 episodes and not amazing, but it’s something!
Heroic Little Sisters of the Grassland is a Chinese anime from 1965 where two little girls almost die in a blizzard trying to help their village, but get through it by remembering Chairman Mao and his strength. Can’t find English subs, but I have an English copy of the kid’s picture book adaptation somewhere...
Pan de Peace is a dumb anime about girls who go to a bakery and eat different bread. Last-Subs did a fansub where they change all the dialogue to be debates about leftist theory
u/roboragi (for links)
Just using this as an example because it's the first link I clicked on
The site goes hella into detail on specific tropes, the exact setting, most of the main staff, "fansub" groups (in this case, mostly the webrip groups), the exact dates each episode aired, etc etc. that most sites don't keep up with.
Saucenao says it's from Golden Boy
I'm sure there's some reason you don't want to use Plex (as it's the obvious choice), but you've kind of explained its whole reason for existing.
Anime is always a bit of a pain (after all, how do you structure messes like this?), as the only really good resource for anime is and.net, and they have severe limitations on accessing their info, pretty much preventing any type of agent or scraper.
I'm sorry but this is not Ogura Yui. The one doing the teacher voice this time is none other than Gotou Yuuko who is more commonly known for voicing mikuru in haruhi.
Yes that was the three main characters screaming heavy metal for the ending theme song. I can say I've never heard Japanese seiyuu scream heavy metal before...
Nah, she's only been in two other shows according to AniDB. I think children just tend to sound pretty similar, especially when compared to older, more seasoned VAs.
If you like girls getting their hair cut (haircut fetish?)... Damn, do I have a great anime for you!
The Severing Crime Edge
[Severing Crime Edge spoiler](/s "With a long hair that goes down all the way to her feet that can't be cut, Iwai is a reclusive unable to leave her home until she meets Kiri. Thanks to Kiri cursed scissors being able to cut her hair, she finally manages to get to school and talk normally with others. However, every day at midnight, her hair grows back to it's original length, thus Kiri must cut it again each day. Which is great for him because he's obsessed with cutting other people's hair and the act of cutting Iwai's hair also relieves the homicidal tendencies that normally come with cured items such as his scissors.")
There is also a great Killer Loli [named](/s "Emily") for anyone who finds them fun.
I agree.
Should have used a Niisan instead. Stole this pun from some Re:Zero thread probably. I would like to give credit but I can't find it.
Agriculture: Gin no saji. It's great! Who knew something like this could be so entertaining!
The soda can girls you should avoid at all costs. You've been warned: https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=6182
BTW, AniDB is usually more accurate than ANN in terms of anime info. (AniDB is also user maintained, but that's generally the way these things are run. Nevertheless, AniDB has people who thoroughly look over episode credits updating this stuff, and their information is usually the most detailed and accurate, with episode-by-episode breakdowns of staff, something that neither ANN nor MAL does.)
That's really not a lot to go on.
And - at least for me - the main thing that stands out between fansubbers is simply the level of effort they put in, not any particular style of font or anything. (e.g. whether or not they match the font to the scene - or even create custom ones, how seamlessly the text overlays onto signs, etc.). Not the sort of thing where I could say "That looks like Coalgirls" but more "Wow, that's some Coalgirls-level fansubbing."
You can check which fansub groups have releases for the animes on AniDB, though (scroll down to "Group Status" and select "Show All").
For a second I thought Aru's VA did Chloe's voice and that dropkick in exchange of her usual torpedo headbutt would be a nice change. But according to anidb it was Kuwahara Yuuki, who has quite a big career of voicing kids voices, mostly in the Aikatsu series and also our beloved Tsundere idol from the moon Kaguya.
You might want to consider checking your list against AniDB (which may include game settings) and AnimePlanet (which shouldn't).
Both of those lists are even missing a few too since the tags are user-added, so some older shows, like the actual 1983 Alice in Wonderland TV adaptation aren't listed.
It's kinda niche but you may enjoy Flag. It's a politics/military anime where you see everything through the camera of a front line journalist. A little slow paced but I enjoyed it.
Read this review by a guy who called the anime the most brilliant of our generation, the highest rated out of 250 reviews, and he was a pretty harsh critic in his heyday.
https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=animeatt&attid=4039
I'd say yes, the anidb ratings are quite high. Don't watch it for the softporn, because there are none. If you do watch it don't get the dubs, the VO is far more superior just for the tone of the voices.
If you don't mind spoilers, here is a 10 minutes fight to give you a good sense of the quality of the anime.
Lilac:https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=character&charid=90772
Nao: https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=character&charid=92347
So looking at it again, maybe the person in the ED is Nao/Lilac. It'd suggest she's meeting up with Kanbe.
Nico: https://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=character&charid=92345
You can Ctrl-F Nico in the episode 8 discussion thread because she wasn't really mentioned much before that episode.
The first one seems to be from a visual novel -- Pachi Pachi Circuit
The third one is from Night Shift Nurses 2, episode 4
> Dammit Koyomi onii-chan, don't fuck this up for everyone. You have enough girls in your harem, you can let your token middle schooler go.
seriously, Araragi is really a fool
We all love it, even if it has flaws
> Question: Who is the VA of the cursed boy at the end? I recognize the voice, but I can't quite place them.
AniDB's search engine and tag system are more powerful than any others I regularly use. More complex and less easy to use, but great if I want to find shows with narrow criteria.
For example, finding original (non-adaptation) anime that have a strong element of romance and aren't harems or ecchi. Neither MyAnimeList nor AniList let you search for certain genres while excluding others, and neither lets you search by source material type (manga, novel, etc.) to my knowledge. I admittedly haven't used Kitsu or Anime-Planet enough to know their capabilities.
Here's the AniDB search result. And lowering the weighting on romance [includes more results](https://anidb.net/anime/?atags.exclude=ecchi%2C%20harem&atags.include=romance%20min(*%2B\)%2C%20new&do.update=Search&noalias=1).
Useful for the average person? Maybe not, but after watching hundreds of series sometimes I want something specific.
This is only a list for containing magical circles - but I'd wager that at least 1/3 of these use them in combat.
The second half of the show was broadcast on Japanese TV in 26 quarter hour segments, which was put together as 13 regular episodes on home media along with the 13 from the first half (see the note on the AniDB description). Hence the episode count on AniDB/MAL won't match the episode count on disc since the former counts broadcast episodes.
Rewatcher
First time I saw it back when it aired. This is also my second attempt at rewatching it, during my first rewatch attempt I lost interest after 6 episodes or so. Hopefully this time I'll stick around till the very end.
This anime aired during the excellent Spring 2007 season, and if you look carefully you'll see that Dennoh Coil also aired during this season. Like with the Dennoh-Coil, Terra e... flew under the radar for most viewers.
Anyway before I watched the episode I can't say I actively remember a lot events in this episode, but while watching a lot of things came back to me where I go "oh yeah" a lot. But the one thing that really brought me back was the track used during next the episode preview which played twice in this episode first time when Soldier Blue saved Jomy and second time during the episode preview. The episode itself was okay.
And unlike others I, for one, love the opening.
Might be worth browsing the NWS image AniDB tag family (not just the list itself, but the lists for the subtags listed at the left), sorting by "weight" to see the ones deemed to have the most of it.
And according to aniDB it's #4.
It's all just popularity ratings by fans. Don't give so much power to it.
Tamako Market
One of the better(one of my top) cute girls anime.
>Tamako is a mochi-loving high school freshman whose family runs a mochi (rice cake) shop in a certain town's shopping district. She enjoys her high school life with her friends Midori and Kanna in the badminton club. She also helps out at her family's shop and develops new mochi.
Source: Konohana Kitan. Absolutely adorable cute girls doing cute things.
That sounds great! Do you happen to have what cream it was? I've tried shaving but always get bumps on my thighs so trying to look into alternatives.
Mmmm, dem movie budgets.
It's being done by a studio I've never heard of, Studio Colorido.
But, as far as I can tell from AniDB (which I don't use, but MAL is down right now) they've got this guy working as an inbetween animator, and he's done a few Ghibli movies. They've got a few Ghibli people, I think, so I'm not surprised the animation is dope.
The source was also apparently written by Morimi Tomihiko, of Tatami Galaxy, The Night is Short, Walk On Girl,, and Eccentric Family. The guy can't write a bad story. I don't know how successful his shows have been, but Tatami Galaxy and Night is Short are two of my all-time favorites.
This shit gonna be good.
Fun Fact: Joshi wrestlers sing to this day because way back in the mid 1970's a wrestle named Mach Fumiake got over by singing. Mach's run on top was extremely short. She held the WWWA Title for 14 days in 1975 and retired shortly after. But she was the prototype for Beauty Pair to take over Japan by storm in 1976-1977. Mach ended up having a really fun career as an entertainer outside of wrestling. Kaiju fans might recognize her from the 1980 movie Gamera: Super Monster(She's the one in the middle).
If you go to the character pages from Anidb's Hunter x Hunter page it shows you what episodes they were in. I'd trust it more than IMDB on anime, but you do have to go through the effort of actually counting since it doesn't give totals.
Beyond the reasons others are laying out here, you may find this list of anime with mostly adult casts helpful in finding more of what you want.
I disagree with Snob on some points of methodology.
It's considered "borderline porn" according to AniDB.
> Breaks the bounds of "excessive fanservice". > > While the physical interactions and dialogue between characters may be extremely sexual, the most sexual situations do not have sex itself take place.
AniDB doesn't list any insert songs for episode 13, so it probably doesn't have an actual name. Just rewatched the scene and seems like it might just be something they came put together with to help set the mood.
Can check the soundtracks, though:
An AniDB search can get you most of the way there, especially for movies and OVAs. In the "Release" section set "state" to "Only completed" and "Subtitle language" to "English", then whatever other options you want.
I say most of the way there because:
a) there are occasional gaps, and
b) sometimes for multi-part works, like TV or possibly OVA series, only some episodes were done for various obscure reasons (no raw available, etc.) and it gets marked as "complete" anyway. But this doesn't come up for movies
I've cleaned up the pre-97 TV show entries myself on MAL here.
Yes, plenty of anime are made without a manga (or other) previous source. Here's a sampling of these.
Look into anime original series. Those aren't adapted from any manga/LN etc.
I got 15.48 days for the episodes, 17 days if you include specials and movies.

Content | Time |
---|---|
929 Episodes (~24 min each) | 22296 minutes (15.48 days) |
TV Specials (excluding recaps) | 873 minutes |
Movies + OVAS | 1437 minutes |
Total | 17 days 2 hr 6 min |
(numbers via AniDB)
> number 4: some character from this anime ^(idfk i'm not a weeb)
I thought you knew who Felix was, he's a very girly cat-boy. You should really watch Re:Zero, second season will be out soon and it will be awesome.
Although I do agree that Kayanon is rather cold towards Matsuoka lately (and the other way around), the rest of the post is just an assumption mostly selected videos. Literally any kouhai girl acts like this towards him and many of them sees his work as inspiration and admire him as person of great skill. And literally any man handles younger women better than his contemporaries, that's just know fact (if we need to dabble into psychology).
I would say Minase is even closer to him now than Oonishi, although I do agree that he can pretty much talk casually with both of them. But seeing him, he will probably end with someone more introverted than him rather than more dominant, a girl from outside of the industry or with someone like Itou Miku type, if you know what I mean.
Funny non-related remark though, current Shokugeki no Souma has probably the oldest cast of all anime lately, just check the names :) https://anidb.net/a14951
> all these "well maybe, we don't know" sites never give clear answers.
That's cause nobody knows yet. We just know they will be made.
Let's watch Sword of the Stranger!
It's basically perfect! Good swordplay, interesting plotline what else you need?
Him: Cool, so who is acting there?
-... eh.. that's anime.
We didn't watch Sword of the Stranger that day.
But hey, at least I made one guy to watch Samurai Champloo.
So use the MAL XML import. https://myanimelist.net/panel.php?go=export / https://anidb.net/perl-bin/import.pl
(Disclaimer: I don't have a MAL account, so I have no idea how well-maintained this is on either side.)
> Is there a way to know if there is a firework scene because I only remember 3...
AniDB usually works for these kind of things although they are missing some.
/u/TheRiyria in case you want to let people know.
I was talking about Asuhi x Kasumi from Qualidea Code
Sorry for late reply, notifications didn't pop-up for some reason.
They're composed and arranged by the same guy, who is also the bassist for Penguin Research (the band that did the latter OP).
Well there's Zettai Bouei no Leviathan, an anime about dragon girls.
Oh, and they may look like they were wearing some kind of scaly bikinis, but those are actually their body part which are parts of their skin that are covered by scales.
Bungou Stray Dogs has Lovecraft as a side character if you wanna check.
I prefer to use AniDB for related series because there is a "Relation Graph" is nice. But gets a bit hard to follow if you look at anything that touches a CLAMP manga.
How to become even more disappointed that Manaria Friends will never see the light of day:
Also TIL she voiced Erina in that shitty JoJo Phantom Blood movie.
With how anal MAL is at defining anime, if they don't accept it, it isn't anime. I'd trust those who deal with an anime database than someone who has watched a handful of anime has to say.
Don't want to trust just MAL, well here's a list of other anime databases that don't include Neo Yokio:
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com
And here's ones that do but also have cartoons such as Avatar, so I'd say the have a very loose definition on 'anime':
The AniDB page lists it as 7 movies. Possibly all 50 minutes long, going by the first movie's length.
I watched the remake a few weeks ago and I'm really excited for these, looks awesome as hell.
That sound Shirayuki made when Zen took her hand and put it towards his mouth when he was asleep. <3
[](#heart-thumbs-up)
Kazuki being voiced by Reiji from Gundam Build Fighters(Koryuu Sachi).
Hayami and Koryuu are working together again, last time they were Aila(Hayami Saori) and Reiji(Kotyuu Sachi).
See the tag on aniDB ordered:
Death Note and AoT are both shounen series btw.
I've found racism and racial tension to be a common theme throughout the history of anime.
I wouldn't call it comprehensive, but AniDB has a racism category with quite a few anime listed: https://anidb.net/tag/2868/animetb/?cat.minweight=0&noalias=1&orderby.airdate=0.1&orderby.name=1.1
You might like {Spice and Wolf} or {Crest of the Stars}. I S&W the main girl is a powerful wolf goddess, in CotS the main girl is an imperial princess and military officer. In both of these the male and female leads are usually on screen at the same time but the male is the protagonist.
Maybe {Yamada's First Time} or {Wotakoi}.
{Blue Gender} has the right tags in the anidb.net database but I only watched one episode.
Probably the Fate series. Maybe Fate/Zero specifically? I think that's Emiya Kiritsugu in the doorway and one of the girls would be Saber.
Saucenao says it's from Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma
Source: https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/48028211
So I think I figured out where to start watching, pretty sure it's Aikatsu Friends! that you start with if you're going in release order. Not that it seems to matter much as far as I can tell as the various series are only tangentially related.
It's from Bloodivores.
