Here’s a copy/paste from a comment I posted earlier today.
“All of what you just said will be in Hytale!
Imagine connecting to a MC server and having custom mods automatically download instead. (No more needing a third party client!)
The entirety of the server side code will be open source allowing for an insane amount of customization. The game will be shipped with a custom 3D Modeling program just for Hytale. The possibilities are seriously endless.
Here’s a quick glimpse of something on their blog
“Because Hytale is designed from the ground up for modding, server operators will be able to create and customize every aspect of the game - from environments and game mechanics to parts of the UI itself. We want our players to be able to build upon what we’re working on, but we also don’t expect the community to do our work for us.
In effect, this shared source system means that it is possible for servers to run a modified version of the game, grounded in a client that is common to every player. Every server represents its creator’s vision for the game - and because server operators have a consistent platform to build upon, it is straightforward for players to jump between wildly different experiences. When you connect to a Hytale server, the client will automatically download all of the content needed in order to play - models, animations, sounds, and everything else.”

Actually, in this case it is used [correctly](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near_miss_(safety\)). A near miss is a miss that was near to collision.
> That game was written in assembly.
99%, it also had some necessary C
> What language was RollerCoaster Tycoon programmed in? It's 99% written in x86 assembler/machine code (yes, really!), with a small amount of C code used to interface to MS Windows and DirectX.
Chris Sawyer is a legend... to code in assembly while also dealing with such complexities of a game and simulation systems is utterly astounding. I can't even fathom how hard he must of worked on it and how skilled he is and I've been writing software for over 15 years. So much respect for the dude.
I fucking love this game
It's on sale for $20 on Origin's site. Free season pass, great singleplayer campaign, co-op modes, and the most mechanically technical multiplayer FPS I've ever seen. Very fast paced stuff.
Downsides: low tick rate, more casual than competetive, a few minor balance issues, needs more PC players (shouldn't have released at the same time as Battlefield and COD).
Hey OP, if you don't have it already, the complete collection on Blu-Ray is on Amazon for $20. I picked up a copy and it's excellent, commentary on every movie and neat extras I haden't seen before.
Well I have two picked out on Amazon for when I have enough money and their listed prices there are $780 and $820.
