Edit 2: According to insider sources, the game takes inspiration from Rust and DayZ, but gameplay is changing rapidly. Source: https://kotaku.com/sources-fallout-76-is-an-online-survival-rpg-1826425333/amp?__twitter_impression=true
From Jason Schreier, who's normally very trustworthy with these things. The game will be "not strictly single player." As well as this, he also said "anyone who spends the next two weeks expecting a traditional single player RPG will be very disappointed"
Knowing this, my best guess is that the game will focus on the settlement building aspect, as the player attempts to rebuild 25 years after the bombs fall with Vault 76 as a starting point. There will probably be co-op, like say Far Cry or Dark Souls where you can have people join you for stretches. Any PvP will focus on raiding other players bases to gather resources, similar to the MGS5 base system.
Edit: Clarified Schreier's comment on the non single player aspect as u/MrFredCDobbs pointed out

He actually talked about this on his last Patreoncast... and about the new place and how he records on last month's patreoncast.
And Jon... You REALLY need to start putting your Patreon ad up more often. I'm getting tired of pimping it out. Seriously, get some artwork together and put it at the end of your videos, just before your "We also do..." outro. No one is going to get angry. Hell, put it at the beginning of your videos once a week!
Tonight on Medieval 2: Total War: Jon massively overestimates travel times for the pope, fails to do basic addition and subtraction when looking at the French king's Authority (ironically claiming the game is "calculating wrong" and calling it "really annoying" while strangely not referring to his own failure to pay attention) and, as per usual, wildly exaggerates the strength of - and challenge provided by - the AI (e.g. when looking at the French fortress at Bordeaux, and when referring to the siege of Angers) as well as "feeling" like the enemy should have more troops without actually counting them. Meanwhile, fairly simple and straightforward concepts and mechanics in the game continue to be "confusing".
Good good, everything seems to be going according to the established order here.
I mean, it's not like Jon doesn't have sponsorships, though his are more frequently as the game being offered to him for review, rather than him getting given a script and some cash.
Most gaming YouTubers I watch don't really have sponsors, but frankly, I don't care if they do. If it lets them make better quality content more often, by all means, they can get a sponsors logo tattooed on their ballsack for all I care. If I have to listen to Jon say "so NordVPN sponsored this video. Using VPNs means I can browse the internet more safely than a baby inside a testudo" at the start of a video in order to get a 200 part Skyrim no weapons no armour run, I'm fine with that.
Plus it's not like you can't skip the promo. Either way, I'd rather a creator got £1 for every 100 views from a direct sponsor than a £1 for every 1000 views from an indirect one.
Jon this is very important . A Piece of information from "Sun Tzu's" 'The Art of War' Chapter 2 ( Waging War) Lines 4-6 there is an important point in which I believe for Denmarks success must be followed
4."Now , when your weapons are dulled , your ardor damped , your strength exhausted and your treasure spent , other chieftains will spring up to take advantage of your extremity . The no man , however wise , will be able to avert the consequences that must ensue .
5. Thus, though we have heard of stupid hast in war , cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays .
6. There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warefare.
tl;dr : FINISH YOUR WARS JON!!! Dont let russia , poland , egypt or France built up . Attack swiftly and deal powerful blows , such as you did with poland attacking 3 cities at once . Baddass . That reminded me of [this scene(https://youtu.be/EfbYp9oaIT8)
I played this recently, and I'm certain that it was fairly easy to make it run at a 16:9 aspect ratio. Link here for those interested.
I'm less certain about this, but I'm pretty sure using force speed makes Kyle dodge when the snipers fire.

Yeah, would be really fun to watch.
Quick tip, I would recomend using OBS it's a free broadcasting program that's quick and easy to use. Can probably find some good tutorials on how to set it up properly on youtube.

So this game hit Steam on Apr 3, 2015, and isthereanydeal has no record on it being in a bundle, but only has records on it for the past 10 months.
Oh and you can check your Steam purchase history: https://store.steampowered.com/account/history/
Plus, then British schoolkids could learn one of my favorite fun facts about the Revolution:
Adam Smith actually believed that Britain should let the colonies go because the Crown could make more money having the newly independent United States as a trading partner. All the benefits of a raw material-to-finished goods trade partnership, none of the costs of administration or defense.
The Wealth of Nations was written in 1776, after all...
This game actually looks pretty great.
I also wanted to mention that it looks like this game is a part of the current Humble Weekly Sale, which is a pretty good deal, but unfortunately only lasts for another 20 hours.
Specifically speaks about Tiny Metal the game, it's the 2nd sentence on the time stamped link I posted. There is also footage of the game in question.
"It was only after this new game called Tiny Metal was delayed on launch day, may I add, that Lacey the PR manager took to the game's facebook page and opened up a pretty gargantuan can of worms"
From the first paragraph of Lacey's post:
"Two months after I was hired at AREA 35, I had learned that the company funded this project by running a scam through Kickstarter. They gathered several famous creators and ran a campaign known as “Project Phoenix”, then used the $1,000,000 received from the campaign to fund the “TINY METAL” project."
https://kotaku.com/developer-accuses-project-phoenix-director-of-embezzlin-1820620507
So I have no idea where you get this idea there's a "Tiny Metal (company)"
You can obtain the plugin here.
Please note that this does not provide any revenue to /u/ManyATrueNerd and it is suggested that you tip a few bucks on his Patreon to Jon so he can continue producing this great content.
I don't think I ever made much of a conscious decision about YouTube - I just started making videos and kept doing it the last 2 years.
I first got properly into Fallout with 3 - and then New Vegas. I've played the older ones, but long long ago.
I know nothing about Devs, I'm afraid - but game shows/conventions often have an area to discuss careers, so go to those, perhaps.
Yes, FTL will be back, as willNV KIll Everything.
Patreon's up and doing well - https://www.patreon.com/manyatruenerd It's a useful stable bit of income when YouTube is very volatile.
I have said 'hi' to Claire
Just in case anyone doesn't know you can play this on your phone if you own Fallout 4 and linked the pip boy app (ios) (android) as long as you have the game's holotape in your inventory when you linked the pip boy app last you can select the holotape and play wherever you are. If you don't have the holotape it can be found in the basement of the Memory Den in Goodneighbor.
OpenBroadcasterSoftware. Lighterweight than Shadowplay or Raptr. GUI isn't the nicest, but with a little work, it's great. It does both local recording and broadcasting to streaming sites.
But that is a great exercise. You never realize how demanding and stressful it is until you've actually sat there and tried doing it yourself. Once upon a time I put out Lets Play episodes, and all it got me was respect for every one who does it well.
>A pacifism run is impossible due to every major faction wanting you to kill at least one person at some point
Actually a "no kill" run of Fallout 4 has been done by a youtuber who runs a chanel called The Weirdist. He used the Charisma tree's pacification perks and liberal save-scumming to do it, but he did manage to complete the game with the Sole Survivor having no credited kills, not even Kellogg. And he did it on survival mode too, believe it or not.
Star Wars: Empire at War - It's an older game but it checks out. You play as either the Empire, Rebellion, or, with Forces of Corruption, the Zann Consortium, with the goal of conquering the galaxy. The multiplayer can also be pretty fun, allowing up to eight players. The ground combat in the Galactic Conquest mode gets tedious in the late game, but the space combat is still incredibly fun and holds up very well.
Steam Page. On sale until May 8th.
Yup. Patreon supporters also get told about what he's planning to do and get to comment on it. So.... go and support him on Patreon. You don't get to dictate. Jon is going to do what he wants, but Patreon suggestions carry a little more weight.
It also doesn't have to be a huge amount. $1 a month gets you the same benefits as everyone else. (and sometimes, cute pictures of Tabby.)
I think Jon might really enjoy Darkest Dungeon. It's a rogue-like, turn-based dungeon diver that seems right up his alley. It features some neat mechanics and has a charming art style.
The game is split in two parts, dungeon diving and character management back in town. You move between both pretty quickly so it might be a good candidate for a live stream. You can also name characters which would be fun to see Jon do.
Here's a link to the steam page- https://store.steampowered.com/app/262060/Darkest_Dungeon/
EDIT: Oh this has been requested a few times, nice.
Here's an article about it and this is a download for the Zelda Excel file (according to the article).
There is a Catan game for Android with both AI and Multiplayer that I play on my trash phone every once in a while
Dynasty by Tom Holland and Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Meditations is very interesting as it wasn't a book, it was the thoughts of the man himself. There is a nigh unlimited supply of early roman history due to great record-keeping.
There are a large number of podcasts done by Dan Carlin that I found wonderful, http://www.dancarlin.com/product/hardcore-history-death-throes-of-the-republic-series/
Some may recommend the History of Rome, but I find the showrunner to be rather dull, moderately informative, and is only interested in the big emperor ideas that you can get from wikipedia.
History of Byzantium that picks up after the "fall" of the Rome(est. as 467, that date comes from asking the remainders of the Roman Empire when Rome fell) is much smoother.
https://thehistoryofbyzantium.com/2017/01/09/all-the-emperors-in-rhyme/
You've got about 1500 years of history to enjoy.
Now that you've got an active Steam profile, I feel compelled to make you aware of these links:
Great big bundles of games and extra content which cycle every few weeks. A portion of the proceeds go to charity, and you get to decide what division of your payment goes to who. Always worth a check to see if they have anything you want.
Lists every sale currently on Steam (that is offered through Steam; Humble Bundle offers don't show up). I recommend checking it daily, but usually the only things that will change are the Daily deals at the top. It also lists the lowest discount at which a title has been offered, so you can see if holding out a bit might be worthwhile.
Unless it's launch day and/or a title you need, holding out for a sale will almost always pay off and save you hundreds if not thousands of bucks per year.
Yeah I just saw that too. It'd be hard to believe that Bethesda would be this adamant on hyping something if it were just a remaster or a DLC-like spin-off.
Link for those who have not seen it: https://kotaku.com/over-140-000-people-are-watching-a-fallout-bobblehead-o-1826397799
I checked before I bought it and it said it came with all the DLC already I think.

Edit. I'm wrong. It has some.

The next Lord pack is a much needed overhaul of the Wood Elves. Theory is that the other new lord that will come with it is either skaven or DE. Plus there will be a free Legendary Hero. And if you own the Wood Elf DLC from WH1 already then there will be another free Lord.
And in the section of the future they said 'As you can imagine it’s all a bit chaotic here at CA, so please bear with us.' which people are taking to mean a WH3 will be soon and that Kislev will be there (because they have bears and bear cavalry).
Fairly sure it's the BetaFish Adblocker / 'Adblock' is the adblocker being referenced.
If you use Adblock Plus, there is a user script for whitelisting YouTube channels here.
The only console I own is an xBox 360 that has been in storage for two years, so all of my gaming is done on my laptop. That laptop is a 7 year old, off the shelf, HP Pavilion that was not built for gaming. I replaced the hard drive with a solid state and doubled the ram to 8gb. It let's me play FO3, FO:NV, and Skryim on the lowest detail settings. Anything older than that like Jedi Academy, AvP2, Return to Castle Wolfenstien ect, works great. Most games, like Just Cause 2 or Rocket League, are completely unplayable.
I raid http://www.myabandonware.com/ for classic games I never got to play when I was younger and expand my library that way. Or I replay some classics that I love that I still have kicking around on their original discs. Every so often I just have to play through Max Payne or Homeworld again.
My game of choice lately is Skyrim. I never played it when it came out and didn't think my PC could run it but a couple of weeks ago I took the chance and bought it on sale. The frame rate was too low to play, but after adding more ram I was able to get it to play tolerably. I'm working my way through it for the first time and I'm not playing anything else until I'm done. I only get to play for about 3 hours a week so it should take me awhile.
Since he played Overwatch, I was thinking he might want to try Smite.
It's a third-person MOBA, but the heroes are all gods of various pantheons. There's both a Roman and a Greek pantheon, and I thought as a Classicist he might enjoy that, especially if he plays the Arena game mode that puts you in a Roman-style arena, or Assault mode which gives every player a random god. Both modes are appropriate for new players, at least since I last played. I'd really love to hear his comments on which abilities they gave the gods and how appropriate they are -- or aren't! ;)
> You can buy a qnap two drive nas off amazon for reasonably cheap
Probably needs more than a 2 bay.
I'd recommend either a FreeNAS (roll your own, surely there's another London based youtuber who is tech based willing to do a "we build a NAS" collab) or a large Drobo. Because when he says "hard drives," I'm picturing at least five in the TB range for size.
Also supposedly Amazon Glacier is supposed to be a good, decently priced, long term bulk storage for backup-like stuff.
I've been trying to find a nice looking copy of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius (the last great emperor) I believe it to be a pretty good book. If you'd be interested in Roman propaganda then read Caesar's autobiography, perhaps on the political field some works of Cato or Cicero. Or just start with a history book and pick some figures who you find interesting.
Since you've been taking a look at more and more twin-stick shooters, I would HIGHLY suggest giving <em>Ruiner</em> a shot!
Lightning-paced, ultra-violent and stylish, it certainly won't disappoint!
Odd idea, kinda bandwagon-y based on the fact Linus Tech Tips just finished their own linux gaming set of videos; Jon tries linux.
You may want to do this around your next computer build, but you should be able to stream it the same way you stream consoles. Then throw a few games on it to try.
I recommend Ubuntu for the OS (most common nameable distro), Steam & GOG, and Lutris (auto-configures a bunch of game installs for linux).
Yeah, I specifically think xbox is a good idea because the game is backward compatible. It's on gamepass, too, so he wouldn't even have to buy it.
For anyone interested, Mass Effect 2 is the free game on Origin at the moment
https://www.origin.com/esp/en-us/store/free-games/on-the-house
I tried to post this on a dedicated thread but it didn't let me for some reason, so anyone is welcome to do it if they want.
I'm a big Gopher Fan as well. Been watching his Let's plays and tutorials for..well years now, time flys. Another person I got into that is a streamer on twitch. https://www.twitch.tv/cmdrhughmann/profile I watch others on youtube and such, but that list has grown lately.
Any chance at getting at least a look-see video for Hyrule: Total War? It's a really solid total conversion mod for Medieval II based on the Legend of Zelda setting that features loads of really great armies and custom units. You can play as tiny Deku Scrubs and plow over your foes riding massive beetles of death!
I saw Dan play Wattam in some of his streams and I think Jon should play it as a one-off or a livestream.
Go in blind! It's a game by Keita Takahashi the creator of "Katamari Damacy" and "Noby Noby Boy" and it's... weird to say the least.
I enjoy the kill everything runs. I especially enjoy them when they're applied to games where killing everything isn't the aim -- any simulator games where the aim is to create a thriving zoo / themepark / hospital / antmound / hotel / etc.
Mars Simulation Project - kill everything run. https://sourceforge.net/projects/mars-sim/
In light of the success of Ryse: son of Rome, playing something like Rome: Pathway to Power might be interesting. It's abandonware, and it's hilarious. Probably even more so under the criticism of Jon.
Nah not really. Aurelian's rescue of the empire was as much about fighting Romans as it was fighting the rest of the world.
Plus Aurelian is ten times cooler than Attila anyway. I'm stoked this is the new DLC
https://www.totalwar.com/blog/empire-divided-power-politics-faq
I'd love to nominate Katawa Shoujo if you're itching for more visual novels after completing Hatoful Boyfriend. It's free, and the story is far more serious than that of Hatoful Boyfriend, but I think some of your viewers (including myself) would love to see it.
P.S The game does feature erotic scenes by default, but they can be turned off in the options menu, and they're definitely not the focus of the game. This image actually portrays it fairly well.
Hey, i'd like to propose a game for Jon to try: Space Engine. It's a universe simulatior, and basically is a accurate representation of space with real systems, stars and planets. It's not much of a game (sure, you can fly there, but not much else), but boy, does it look good.
It's totaly free (developer is supported by donations) and developed by a single guy, as far as I know.
link: http://spaceengine.org
If you download the Youtube Centre addon by YePpHa (it;s a little fiddly to install) I think there;s an option to disable in-video adds but still keep the pre-roll ads.
It also adds some pretty nice features, like a more efficient grid view of subscriptions/videos, and the ability to download videos in different resolutions with a single click.
When it comes to a keyboard I am huge fan of the Ducky Shine series, I have had a Shine II and am currently on a Shine 4.
However if you are getting a mechanical keyboard note that is will be significantly louder than a rubber dome (the most common kind of keyboard made today), also there are different kinds of switches which all make different sounds and feel different, some is louder (like MX Blue and Green) and some might be quieter (like reds and blacks, and browns). In the end it comes down to comfort, I recommend getting a key switch tester like this: http://www.cmstore.eu/parts-replacements/peripherals/keyboards/mechanical-key-switch-tester-v2-free-shipping/ and see which you like the most.
If you like Firefox but prefer the old UI, check out Pale Moon, a fork of Firefox from before the UI change, it works well and I have so far not had any issues with broken extensions.
As you have been working with video you might have heard about Handbrake (https://handbrake.fr/) a great open source program for transcoding between formats.
Lastly the monitor, if you want a good reliable screen then it is hard to go wrong with a monitor from the Dell Ultrasharp range, Though I would be wrong to not mention that their refresh rate is 8 ms, which might be a deal breaker for playing FPSs.
My favorite for the Iliad is the Richmond Lattimore translation, while for the Odyssey I love the Emily Wilson translation. Of course, nothing beats reading in the original Greek text. If that's a possibility for you, I'd recommend the Loeb classical library books, they're the little green hardcover ones.
Here’s what I’m think for a ‘price is not object, this thing needs to last for years.’
It’s 16GB of memory, but I can’t find a higher spec off the top of amazon right now.
A little cheaper, it still great:
The main difference between the probook and the elitebook is that you trade the some of the aluminum case for plastic. Elitebooks also have a longer warranty. The probook line is still great.
I don’t know if that seller ships to the UK, but you should be able to find something in the UK that is similar. Just keep an eye on the reviews for how well the seller responds to requests.
I’d definitely go for the FHD display. It’ll be easy on the eyes for years. Displays are such a personal thing, it’s tough to recommend one that’s good for you. Flux will wok on pretty much anything.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.feralinteractive.rometw&hl=en_GB

There you go. If you're device isn't compatible it won't show up on your google play app.
So, that motherboard you selected supports an m.2 drive.
Maybe look into using a 1tb Samsung 960 EVO or 1tb 960 pro. It's basically an SSD in a different physical form factor (mounts on the motherboard for data and power, so less space needed for it), and I believe uses a different bus than SATA, so it's also faster and doesn't take away from your bandwidth to those drives (might give you better shadowplay performance if you're recording to a SATA drive?). It's the same type of drive higher end ultrabooks and the Intel NUCs use these days.
I used the 850 when I rebuilt my computer a year or so ago, and it impressed me with the OS bootup time.
Project Sylpheed, X360 can be found for under $10usd. It's a sci-fi/anime space combat sim. Most of the ship customization is choosing weapons, and you get to fight large capital ships and target specific modules on them. It's about 6-8 hours to finish the story mode once.
The Command and Conquer collection (RTS) goes on sale for $5usd every so often, seeing you take on the newer ones (Tiberium Wars, Red Alert 3, and their expansions, we don't talk about 4) would be interesting.
And if you haven't played Half Life 2 yet, you have to share that experience.
Personal Recommendation for a Monitor
<strong>BenQ RL2455HM</strong>, 24 Inch TN panel. Not the best I know but is cheap, good color accuracy not as good as IPS though, has 1ms GTG response time, has very good viewing angles(considering it's a TN Panel), has decent input/output ports. And also since it's cheap and you are looking into Twitch Streaming, you can get 2 of these one to manage chat and what not and one for actually playing.
Also I've been using this monitor for more than a year now and it has never let me down. Also I am not the authority to go to for monitors, so consider other options too.
Amazon UK Link to BenQ RL2455HM
P.S I would suggest getting a good mouse, if you don't already have one
This them monitor i use and it works great, nice and cheap to and £110: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2450HM-Widescreen-Multimedia-speakers/dp/B005OPLG0O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1436046617&sr=8-1&keywords=Benq+gl2450
