The museum of art and botanical garden are right next to each other and are both close to campus.

Best bet is to get a free account with Air BnB. We've found tons of places to stay for cheap, the hard part is booking well enough in advance before the festival, but if you get to it within the next month or two, it shouldn't be too hard to find a decent spot.
Definitely check out the listings in Orange Beach and play with the filters to find a place that's within your price range: Direct Link
You're getting a few downvotes and no explanation so far, but I wanted to change that. I'm always bewildered when people claim there is "nothing to do" in Mobile. There is SO MUCH to do in Mobile. I've lived here 34 years (and counting) and I've still got several things on my to-do and to-see list. Between Mobile's plethora of museums, gardens and nature attractions, educational facilities, historical landmarks and coastal areas, I am literally NEVER BORED here, and I'm simply amazed at people who are.
What type of entertainment are you looking for that you find Mobile is lacking? Perhaps you just have yet to discover how diverse our city is. I'm sure I can point you in the right direction.
In fact, here is a good place to start: 31 Things to Do in Mobile.

I also live in an apartment in Midtown. I’m sorry for your experience! I don’t live in the best place, but it’s similar to yours: no central heating/cooling, slow maintenance, etc. One thing that has helped me the most is a dehumidifier. I got a big one off of Amazon and I had to empty it like 4-5 times a day at first. Now, I only need to empty it twice a day. The longer you keep it running, the more humidity it pulls from the air. I have a small one in my kitchen and dining room as well.
Here is the huge one I got that has helped the most : Midea 4,500 Sq. Ft. Energy Star Certified Dehumidifier with Reusable Air Filter 50 Pint 2019 DOE (Previously 70 Pint) - Ideal For Basements, Extra Lar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NRBDMJR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_bfMYm1fE8prZ3
No way man, go to Taste of Thai in Irvington and then we can talk. It's the best thai in the country hands down. You can choose how many stars you want between 1 and 250 or so. This place is a total hole in the wall but is constantly busy. If you like Bangkok now, eating here is going to be like having a 45 minute orgasm on a pile of money. I'll even google map it for you: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Taste+of+Thai,+U.S.+90,+Irvington,+AL&hl=en&ll=30.507259,-88.256264&spn=0.100718,0.178699&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.080837,91.494141&oq=taste+of+thai+ir&t=h&hq=Taste+of+Thai,+U.S....
AT&T provides a free gateway. You have to use AT&T's gateway to use and activate services. If you choose, you can put your own router behind the AT&T gateway but I haven't had any issues so far with AT&T's gateway. The only time I've had internet go out at all was when the gateway lost power due to a power flicker, so I'd say it's very reliable.

Here is my current speed.
Cottage Hill Package Store is the go to place for all your alcoholic needs. Beer, wine, liquor, growlers, cigars, wine tastings, special orders... they do it all.
But for pricing, ABC is the best as they have a monopoly on the liquor business. Every store buys from them and has to mark the price up to make some of that money back.
If you have a specific liquor you're looking for, give ALBoss a try. You can search ABC's inventory and find out which store has what you need in stock, as well as the price.
