Searched for a bit regarding the name, found a small town in India called Hogenakkal (sounds similar, perhaps his possible Australian accent would make it difficult to clarify). It has a giant forest about a mile away from town, and is prone to vicious cyclones, with that specific area being affected the most in India. A little over 8 years ago, there was one, Nisha, which killed about 100 people in that area. Not saying this is what he was talking about, but it's a bit eerie!
So, their choice to recognise the phenomena as being a very well documented natural occurance of kids in a certain stage of development that perhaps has an evolutionary explanation (learning to practice social skills, perhaps?)....over say, a yet unproven and heavily disputed and disorganised belief that there's a ghost hanging around some kids that only kids have the ability to see...that makes them thick?
I'm not against holding the door open to a paranormal answer in any case, but not everything merits finding an alternative explanation. Religious nuts might call you stupid for thinking finding a cloud shaped like a face was just pareidolia...
EDIT: take a butchers at this
No. It's an attempt at keeping things orderly in a small apartment. I don't think keeping cleaning supplies like mops and brooms that don't fit under a sink is "hoarding".
Here's some help with your continued education: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hoarding-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20356056
> Around Halloween, it would turn on by itself and play this strange medley of growling, children singing, piano music, etc. It was usually at full volume and would turn off on its own. One time I was able to ask, “Alexa, what’s playing right now?” And the response was that it was “Creepy Halloween Sounds.”
Could be a software "easter egg" (a secret feature put in a piece of software just to amuse people), or an app such as this one (I don't have one of these devices so cannot test if the sounds in this app match what you describe), or even just an ordinary sound file playing. Highly unlikely that this is anything paranormal as the sounds described are very cliche.
> I theorized that maybe a neighbor was playing these sounds at their house nearby (on their porch, or for a Halloween party, etc) and that ours somehow picked up the signal.
This is not technically possible with devices of this kind. This kind of thing used to happen with analog radios, two-way radios, wireless microphones or headphones, and so on. Digital systems such as modern cellphones and WiFi and bluetooth devices cannot "interfere" like this.
> The very last incident was a bit different. My grandma passed away around that time. A couple of days after her passing, the Echo turned on (when I was alone) and started playing “Mandy,” by Boston. I had never heard that song before and had never played it on the Echo. My grandma was the only one who called me Mandy.
That could've been your grandmother, if the paranormal is real. These devices are very sensitive and don't require a loud voice, just a clear one (Google Now on an Android phone can actually be triggered with an electrical signal corresponding to a sound volume that would normally be inaudible, if you give it the right signal), so I imagine that it would be quite easy for spirits to talk to the device (similar to an EVP recorder).
You have a genuine ghost picture there...here you can make more like that i believe there are more apps like this one, some with transparency level and other useful things
First I'd ask if you are prone to sleep paralysis which can cause hallucinations both visual, auditory and sensory (touch). Here is some info: https://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/guide/sleep-paralysis#1
If this is not in your history, nor were you experiencing it when this happened, then I would begin to look at nightmares. If you are for certain that it is not just a reoccurring nightmare from say, stress or even something going on in you life (or a fear) you are not addressing (therefore your subconscious is manifesting it into a grabbing type of scenario), then I would suggest getting you a sage wand, and some spiritual anointing oil and begin doing some protection rituals. If you feel you are at that point, hit us up here again, and I can give you some protection pointers.
First off sleep paralysis is often accompanied by hallucinations. All the others sound like they may have common solutions but I am having a hard time understanding what is going on. Language barrier perhaps? Sounds like you are saying the events occur while trying sleep or waking up at which times you can hallucinate because of several things, one is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnopompic or even this https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia. And seeing a UFO means nothing, I seen 5 in my lifetime and never been abducted. And dreams are hardly a good argument so even if you had them it wouldn't be enough proof.
I just graduated nursing school last semester! Check out this interesting paragraph I read in my pediatrics text book! "During the final few days to hours of death, children may experience visions of 'angels' or people and talk with them (Ethier, 2005). They may mention that they are not afraid and that someone is waiting for them. Often these visions are of family members or friends who have preceded them in death. In most instances these visions provide a comforting presence and reassurance for the child and family. Not all children will express these types of experiences." (Hockenberry, Marilyn J.. Wong's Nursing Care of Infants and Children, 8th Edition. Mosby, 2006. p. 975).
Here's a LINK to a research article on dying patients and deathbed phenomena. Thankfully a majority of the deathbed experiences are positive. It was sad to read in the Allnurses.com link about patients who had horrible deathbed experiences and saw ominous black shapes and what not. Makes me interested in working hospice. Not for morbid curiosity, but to able to spread a little more love and strength to people who are afraid.
You should always read the permissions before downloading an app. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/what-are-android-permissions-why-should-you-care/
This app has access to: *Photos/Media/Files Uses one or more of: files on the device such as images, videos, or audio, the device's external storage *Wi-Fi connection information Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and names of connected Wi-Fi devices
I don't know why it would need access to your camera/pics if it wasn't using that for *something.*I guess you could contact the developers & ask.
Did some research Mill, in New Kent, VA And also a Benjamin Arnold from the late 1600's to early 1700's, that lived in New Kent, VA who's wife died of giving birth 10 years before Benjamin That is some weird stuff.
out of curiousity, what makes you 80% convinced they are fake? Do you known the person who sent the photos to your aunt, and that's why you think that? Or because they look like those "ghost app" pictures? Just wondering why you think that, as I think maybe your gut reaction is telling you something?
edit: also, the girl looks a lot like the ones in this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=foto.fantasma.broma About fifth image along....
...more searching and found this Facebook link that has the original "photo" of that girl.... facebook link of image Definitely faked.
Have you thought of using surveymonkey.com?
Yeah, some of these questions can be answered using a Likert scale such as "How strong is the ability (how reliable, how intense, how physical, etc.)?"
Cool. Going off Nashville's weather records there was a massive humidity drop from the beginning of December to January. That could account for the creaks and stomps and then silence. I would expect it to happen again possibly in the Spring to Summer.
1) Do you have any witch or spiritual friends you could bring in to get a feel for your place? Generally they might know some cleansing rituals for help.
2) You can burn sage around the house/yourself (as seen here) as well as sprinkling salt water/salt around the windows and doors of your home. However, warning! This has the potential, if it doesn't work, of really pissing off whatever this entity is so be careful. I would only do this with a more experienced person present (such as a shaman or priest or elder witch, etc.)
3) Next time you see it, you could firmly state "this is my house, you are not welcome". That has actually worked before for me, so it's worth a try.
4) Are you sure your friends and you properly closed the ouija board when you used it? Regardless of whether something happened at the time, if the board was improperly closed than a "gateway" could still be open and leaking these energies or entities into your home.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions etc. Good luck!
Dunno much about this, but took a shot at applying noise reduction & normalization in audacity. Here are links to the original ("orig") and the one ("nr+normalized") I dinked with.
Sounds to me like: "I hear yooouuu! I'm comin' up there... (garbled)" Then something else garbled at 9.5 to 10.5 seconds, ending with what ~~sounds like~~ could be a drunkenly slurred or sobbing first couple of lines to "Happy Birthday." Creepy shite, thanks for posting.
Some research on empathy may help answer your inquiry. There is the general googling of 'empath' or 'empathy' that will give you more psychic related advice but empathy has been clinically evaluated and this linked search weeds out some of the pay per psychic training everyone as an empath sites.
http://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&q=empathy&btnG=&as_sdt=1%2C26&as_sdtp=
One isolated event I wouldn't find alarming. But if it continues, I'd encourage you to dig in. Often people prone to heightened empathy tend to avoid overly populated areas and emotionally charged areas/events because of similar feelings and the more you feel, the less you feel in control.
Hope that helps a bit.
The original version appears to have been called "UFO Abduction" but I've also seen it referred to as the McPherson Tapes. And it also has an IMDB page. Both were written and directed by Dean Alioto, who was the man interviewed. He explained why there were two versions and just how screwy it got when the network got their hands on it.
EDITED (because I've been up all night and got determined to find that thing): a wayback machine link to the tale of the video
The isolated EVP, using audacity's noise removal & normalization.
I hear a single female voice and don't think it's in English. It's very melodic and isn't "hit the skin like a feather" (though the last two syllables do sound like "feather").
Also, some interesting comments on this Quora question:
According to Webster's Dictionary it's the Spanish word for "ghost" or "goblin"
> The word duende refers to a spirit in Spanish, Portuguese, and Filipino folklore and literally means "ghost" or "goblin" in Spanish.
Literally. In Spanish.
Thanks again for sharing your experience!
>I have been thinking a lot about psychic ethics. There need to be ethical guidelines. I have very clear feelings about the responsibilities associated with this ability set.
damn right! you should start a wiki on this... I'm sure others would contribute.
Try a whole foods store or a health store. Also Amazon sells them https://www.amazon.com/Premium-California-White-Smudge-Sticks/dp/B015EXRHIU/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1466386471&sr=1-1&keywords=sage+to+burn
Quick Google search found this. The article says the salt is used, instead of paint or chalk, to be closer to the earth. So pretty much anyone could have done it. I only say that to offer comfort in the fact that a regular person, just messing around, could have done it as a joke. You don't need to worry, as long as you don't believe in that crap and give no power to it you are safe. Hope that helps.
The Ouija board is a board game, made by Hasbro and sold in the toy aisle at Walmart and Toys-r-Us.
They do not have the ability to contact the spirit world any more than an easy-bake oven does.
They are sold to teenage girls to use to scare eachother at slumber parties. Nothing more.
Nothing that you're experiencing has anything to do with your use of the board game.
I'm very interested in the phenomenological self-model theory constructed by Thomas Metzinger. You can read some articles here on the concepts behind it.
I bring this up because what you're describing and its parallels to studied OBEs suggest further ways to flesh out what is happening. That is, given a self model is constructed from the available data received by the body and predictive virtualization, in some situations when the ordinary systems experience a hiccup due to biological or neurological reasons an OBE occurs. Early tests with high G maneuvers by fighter pilots resulted in many OBEs; it is possible to induce this phenomenon, though perhaps not with universal regularity.
If these are generative issues in consciousness formation, then not only will they have the underlying "This is real" phenomenological sensation for the person experiencing them, but will also be extremely difficult to both replicate and observe from a third-person perspective. There may also be connections to certain genetic populations, insofar as some groups might carry versions of genes related to the neurological structures responsible for consciousness that make these issues occur more frequently. This is just speculation, but it can cohere with the idea that this happens often enough (relatively) for there to be a Scandinavian word for this; conversely, it very well is likely that having the word and associated concepts primes consciousnesses to experience this.
But it seems many of these kinds of phenomena are connected through such a model for consciousness, to also include imaginary friends and some ghost phenomena as residual or underlying constructs generated by consciousness neurology.
You sound like a skeptic. I wish more serious research was given to the subject. Last semester in school I read this research article about deathbed apparitions among dying patients. The main theme wasn't so much a study of apparitions themselves but rather how the experience helps dying patients at their life's end. It is apparently more prevalent than many people would imagine. I thought it was really interesting.
Edit: I changed it to a better link of the article.
Here's an article from 1995 reporting it as a hoax They failed to mention that the girl's antics were a response to the events that were occurring. When asked to explain her actions she told officers she wanted to see how the "demon" would react. Her moving things while peoples attention was diverted does not explain all of the phenomenon that were witnessed first hand, right before many witnesses eyes(how would a girl make a refrigerator float?) . The number of events that can't be explained by the girl's mischief far outweigh ones that could. The girl also said she witnessed Lorraine Warren running her arm under hot water which would explain the "mysterious burn" that appeared on Lorraine's arm. The Warrens were then banned from the house by the family. The events continued to occur even after the family accepted it was all hoax. The help of a different investigator (Boyce Batey) was eventually accepted. I don't blame the police department from sweeping everything under the rug. There is no procedure for dealing with things like this and crowds were flooding the neighborhood causing headaches for everybody.
I found some reviews of the Squirrel Cage Jail, but not the overnight tour. Still, the jail gets 4 stars out of 5 on Tripadvisor. (Let me know if you go! I love haunted travel.)
Maybe reading some of the reviews will help you decide:
You are welcome and thanks for your kind words. It's nice to find other people who refuse to swallow all this paranormal mumbo jumbo, without even trying to explore what lies behind it and what originated it.
As for the references cited here, well, I guess you will have to hit the library any time soon. Most of these docs are not available on the Internet, I presume. However, you should give Google Scholar a chance. There's lot of good readings there, specially about human behavior and psychology.
By the way, if you want to tackle a good paranormal subject and flesh it out, you should consider the possession / exorcism phenomena. It is exactly at the very borderline between psychology and the supernatural. I'm sure that while you are at it, you will learn a lot, and I mean a lot, about the human mind.
And, yes, feel free to ask away. I'll see what I can do.
Cheers!
Here you go. Just skip the first five minutes, it's a bunch of ads. You can find it on iTunes, too.
You stated Hypnagogia, which you stated as per quote below.
>Sleep paralysis, as I always read it, A temporary inability to move or speak while falling asleep or upon waking. Not while asleep, upon waking or while falling alseep. I also heard it described best as waking during the REM state of sleep when you body is unable to move. False awakening is the real term? No, sleep paralysis is the real term. It sounds like that is something completely different. This best describes what OP was going through. https://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia
and...
>At least, you aren't one of those who are going into every topic about nightmares and saying it's sleep paralysis.
Of course not. Come to my subreddit [QMC](/r/quixotica) and you can see how open-minded I am. I am also not stating that what he experienced even if a result of Hypnopomia, isn't real.
There are some very interesting themes that are consistent across all cultures, religion, belief and people regardless of the situation, which happens in a Hypnopompic experience. It can be speculated, by those who call themselves mystics, as an actual reality we become aware of when that transition from wake to sleep occurs.
I just want to clear any misunderstanding, in order to satisfy the skeptic, I look for a rational (science based) first, so those reasons out of the way and we can actually go into the metaphysical reason next.
Side-note, not sure why people are down-voting our responses, this is good distinguishing discussion. [Edit: grammar and an autocorrect]
Any of you see this when it came out last year? What are your thoughts? It is available to stream online right now if you have Netflix. Here's a link to the documentary which may work for some of you (not for me in the United States though). I did find most of the documentary here which works for those in the United States. It begins at 5:40, but unfortunately it cuts off the last bit. It's an interesting documentary. Really makes you wonder about the power of dreams and the subconscious.
there's an app that does this, not sure which one her "dad" used but it could be something similar to this the fifth picture looks kinda similar not a match.. but enough to show you that you'r gf was probably just trying to scare you/ joke around.
This sleeping app has a mode that records you whenever you make a sound. I recommend everyone give it a try if you want to freak yourself out a bit.
I understand that. I just made a video to prove how hard it is to make a significantly steady / loud enough tapping sound on that particular tube. I thought I was going to somehow make it seem like I had made the noise but now I think I may have proven my point it wasn't me.
Mind you... in the original video, I have the iPod (same iPod I recorded it with this time) at the same distance and I'm holding the tube one handed again with my right. I tried to recreate everything as close to the original conditions.
You need to speak to a doctor. Hearing voices is not a good sign. I don't think there's anything paranormal inside your house. But you're not going crazy. I think you just need to help. Your description sounds nearly identical to a horror novel that I read last week

You might find r/nde of some comfort and interest. I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but I find it helps.
I also found a book called Journey of Souls was very interesting. I know it's the contact you crave, but just reading the evidence and experiences of what may lay ahead after bodily death can be really comforting. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Journey-Souls-Studies-Between-Lives/dp/1567184855/ref=asc_df_1567184855/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310831936698&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9385694688802239561&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&...
Apologies if these are not quite what you're after. I do sense that contact is less likely to happen if we are in a state of distress and trauma. Some believe that perhaps this whole grief process and how we navigate it is actually part of our life's learning. Perhaps when we are pushed into such a desperately sad situation, we are more likely to access our innate resources to process it.
Feel free to DM me if you want someone to talk stuff through with.

I have this book Amazon link Unfortunately its not right now with me. But it has a good enough collection of Indian Ghosts and legends around it. I think there was a headless ghost in it.
I'd refrain from appropriating any culture and doing any sort of rituals and first determine what if anything is really going on. I bought this camera for my baby and for this price you can't go wrong. It has a night vision, motion detection, has a good app for your phone. Pop SD card inside and make it record all the time on loop.

May I suggest praying for the soul of this person (people perhaps?). Many souls in purgatory (sometimes called ghosts) visit churches in particular for various reasons. Here's a great book on these souls with some explanation as to why they so often look for solace in churches: Hungry Souls: Supernatural Visits, Messages, and Warnings from Purgatory https://www.amazon.com/dp/0895558998/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_otArzbY70C5TG Also, you can google Padre Pio and read about his experiences with souls still in purgatory who attended his masses (among other stories relying to his experiences with deceased souls). He said more souls of the dead attended his masses than souls of the living! God bless!

I can't say that I 100% believe in them, but they are interesting enough for told hold back some disbelief. In high school I read a very interesting book about by complete accident. The book is The Hunt for the Skinwalker and it uses science to help explain somethings, so it's more real than fiction. The book was actually my fathers and the title sounded interesting so I picked it up and I was hooked. If you're interested in them this book is definitely worth a read.

Ian Stevenson has done decades of research on children's claims of reincarnation. Short writeup here:
http://www.near-death.com/reincarnation/research/ian-stevenson.html
I picked up that from NDE accounts. We basicly are spirits living in human form. If we understand life this way we can get a deeper understanding of our paranormal activity.
Many times spirits (souls) incarnate with spirits they have worked with before. They do this in a supportive manner to help us get beyond those times that aren't expected to be pleasant. And we are hereal to support them.
Do you remember meeting someone for the first time and you have one of those strange feelings you feel you knew them before? Maybe you met them earlier in your life but cant remember, you think. How about those stories were people say they knew the moment they saw a girl or guy and they knew they would be the number one for them? Have you ever asked how these marraiges of true love shows up in small towns were they lived all there lives? How does that happen? Out of the whole world someone finds their love partner is the same town as they live? :)
How can we explain how we know something is going to happen in our lives when we get that strong feeling it will? And Deja Vu is explained as well. Its because we already know the events of our lives. Our free will are how we precieve our life events and how we accept it because we choose that life.
Life is interesting isn't it. :)

Interesting. There is research done by Dr. Ian Stevenson on past lives. He has many cases where a person described how they were killed in a previous life and had birthmarks matching the wounds they describe.

The Field Guide to the Little People by Nancy Arrowsmith, available on Amazon, in various editions, has a short chapter on the Domovoi. It's a wonderful little book, and quite scholarly in its own way, including sources, and the last times each little being was reliably sited.
My mother was from Dalmatia. Once, when I was quite young, her parents were visiting us in California. We had just returned from a day out, and when we got out of the car, the sounds of a child sobbing were quite audible and seemed to come from the back garden. we all stood there as my father checked crawl spaces under the house, a cellar, the attice, and tapped walls,to find the source of the crying. Suddenly my grandmother said her brother in Croatia had died, she just knew it. So they made a phone call and indeed that is what had happened, and the crying stopped.
When I was in my 30s, i discovered this little book, and read about the Domovoi, which this book says attaches to the family, not necessarily the house. I called my mother and read aloud how this little house elf sobs like a child whenever someone in the family dies. my mother was astounded I remembered this event from three decades earlier, and we both marvelled that my grandmother had brought a domovoi with her to California.
I would highly recommend it to anyone with even a superficial fascination with the supernatural.

Unfortunately there are a great deal of hoaxes in UFO photography, so it is incredibly difficult to sift through the evidence and decide if it is credible or not. Most people are not aware of the Controlled Remote Viewing (CRV) tool that was developed by the US military during the cold war and is now freely available to the public. There is a growing segment of the population that are learning to use it and adapting it to different uses. The UFO field is one of the more esoteric uses for the tool since there is no way to verify all of the information that is gathered, but the use of experienced viewers with established track records does help some of the credibility of the CRV data. A book was actually just published on the subject called 'Remote Viewing UFOS and the VISITORS: Where do they come from? What are they? Who are they? Why are they here?'. The author is a remote viewer himself but includes work from one of the world's best remote viewers, Joe McMoneagle of the former Army RV unit. It is a fascinating read because some of Joe's sessions indicate that there does appear to be fraud, natural phenomenon, and top secret government projects that get confused for ET crafts a majority of the time it seems. There are some apparent genuine ET targets revealed as well though. It is pretty amazing stuff to consider. I realize that mainstream science categorizes wormholes as theory, but the phenomenon of remote viewing in and of itself being real demonstrates a non-local property to space and time where distances across both seem to be an illusion. Wormholes would simply be a physical short cut where mentally this is already accessible by every human being. It is just incredibly difficult to learn and get proficient at.
Update: Not sure if this is significant, but I have this Om flag hanging in my hallway. It's suspended between two wooden sticks, kind of like a scroll, if that makes sense. Well, every day as of late, I've noticed the flag part has been pushed all the way to the far right of the sticks, so it's kind of like an accordion when it's all together, if you can picture that. I keep fixing it, but every day it's like that. I even secured the string that hangs it UNDER the pin I hang it with and today it was completely off the wall. I know that no one is walking with their body touching the wall, and I can't think of another explanation. My concern here is that an Om is a symbol of peace, and it's the only thing in my house that appears to be manipulated.
Here is the exact flag so you can get an idea of what it looks like and what is happening here.
P.S. It takes a bit of effort to even move the fabric in such a way, especially to the extent it's moved.
So there's no such thing as psychics. Can you stop being a credulous psychopath?
There's this book called The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark that will educate you from the ground up about reality. Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Demon-Haunted-World-Science-Candle-Dark-ebook/dp/B004W0I00Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419254224&sr=8-1&keywords=demon+haunted+world+by+carl+sagan
On top of that, James Randi has been offering one million dollars to anybody who can prove the existence of the paranormal. What a shocker, nobody's been able to do it yet. Big shocker.
If you read that book and still actually think there's such thing as the paranormal, I want to talk to you either on the phone or any anonymous VoIP client. Skype, mumble, teamspeak, jitsi, tinychat, ventrilo -- whatever. I'm sick of nutbags walking around freely on my planet.
I recommend Gray Barker's Men In Black: The Secret Terror Among Us. It contains a lot of fascinating and creepy information about the MIB.

Dr. Michael Newton's book 'Destiny of Souls' is a good one. On pages 54-62 he goes into detail on a past life regression client who remembered being a ghost after a previous incarnation. He explains the misconceptions many of us have about ghosts as well. He researched past life and life between lives hypnosis regression cases in a methodical and scientific manner for years to put together his two books on the subjects. I highly recommend them.
This link has many of the declassified CIA documents on the government's Remote Viewing program you speak of. I learned the process and protocols of Remote Viewing from David Morehouse's book well enough to know that it works, but it is harder than it looks. I will be taking formal training from an instructor who mentors and certifies in the near future to get better at it. Very cool stuff. I like RV because of all the science behind it. I'm an engineer and needed that level or rigor to accept it initially.
I wish that could explain it but the switch has no self purpolsion or spring action to move itself from all the wall off to all the way on. It also lays flat on the floor so gravity isn't an option. This lamp is right next to my side of the bed so if something paranormal wanted to mess with me that's a good lamp to choose. I'm extremely skeptical about this kind of thing and tonight I'm putting a box over the dimmer switch. Here's the style of switch if its hard to visualize.

Hey OP! i agree with recording yourself while sleeping, or at least use an app to monitor your sleep habit, there's alot of it like this for android , it can capture movement and record sound, but camera is always better.
