I just bought this HDMI plug and it works really well. It does 1080p at 120hz. When I was searching for dummy plugs I found that all the DisplayPort ones only did 17hz at certain resolution which I thought was really werid. I'm not sure if that purely a DisplayPort thing, but from what I've seen HDMI tends to have better resolutions and refresh rates.
I have a very similar PC to you and it works just fine.
Your post is all over the place in terms of details (I barely understand what you tried to do at all), so here's my questions:
2 options:
As someone else mentioned, there is Parsec Warp which comes along with a lot of features, including Privacy mode which does exactly what you’re describing.
The other option, which is much more economical, is to use a headless hdmi dongle https://www.amazon.com/Headless-Display-Emulator-Headless-1920x1080-Generation/dp/B06XT1Z9TF In this case, you would set Parsec to capture the dongle as your monitor and then just use it like normal. Your main monitor connected to the host would stay on, but it would just be the desktop screen as you would be using the dongle. Definitely not as elegant of a solution as you’ll have to manage moving windows around the various screens, but definitely a much cheaper option.
@KofiZ on discord gave me an answer.
Parsec Runs as System which is higher than admin , you can get to send hotkeys for PTT by disabling the pservice , check here https://www.notion.so/Guest-hotkeys-blocked-on-Parsec-030298757dd64d7d84e1ab05fbc2cc93
This should not matter for connecting to the service, but if you try to open the control panel while it is disabled you may have issues. Note that restarting your machine will reset pservice to being enabled
Thanks, Ipega looks promising.
A regular controller wouldn't suit the purpose because you can't hold the controller in your hands while also holding the phone in your hands.
But I am looking for something like this:
https://www.amazon.ca/Mcbazel-PG-9083S-Stretching-Retractable-Controller/dp/B07PF8VJKL/
With most of these from other brands, it is pretty explicit that it connects only to the phone. But this seems like it can fit the phone in it while still sending inputs to the PC (which would be running the Parsec)
Try this app to remap your backspace button, or whatever button having issue or something like Bluetooth keyboard not working...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.sds100.keymapper&hl=en&gl=US
Weird, I don't think it supposed to do that. I don't have direct solution, but maybe consider dummy plug if nothing else works.
I use a headless HDMI dongle that allows windows to think I have a 4k monitor even though my actual monitor is only 2k. I use it so that I can turn my monitor off. Something like: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07FB8GJ1Z
I made one, it’s called GP Overlay. It uses the parsec api so you can game with an overlay without needing to exit the app. Or you can use it in external mode for keyboard emulation on separate apps, your choice.
It also has xinputs for emulation of a Xbox controller (this feature is an IAP).
If you try it out please let me know, I’m always looking for suggestions to improve the app.
Try this one. Some guy on reddit created this app, its allows to play without controller and play with on screen control.

Setup not easy foward but worth a try
Do a quick test on https://www.speedtest.net and you should have some point of reference. If you're hosting, pay attention to the Upload speed. If you're connecting, Download speed is important.
To be clear are you downloading it from this: https://parsec.app/downloads
Question 2. You say that it's a new pc. Is it new new or just new to you? What version of Windows are you running? Are you insuring the download matches?
When you say it crashes are you getting any error at all or does it just instantly freeze? Does it run for any amount of time or does it just immediately seize up?
Are you making sure that you're downloading the 64-bit version? Or if this is an older version of Windows 32 bit?
6MB? I used an official link: https://parsec.app/downloads
One thing I did do tho, I had Parsec opened and saw my PC name... I went into windows settings and changed my PC name to my liking (parsec still open). It required restart, I restarted the PC and now I have 2 windows accounts
If you have a gpu installed, you’ll be able to setup gpu pass through and then use a dummy plug( like this) and parsec will work fine.
I use something just like this: https://www.amazon.com/Desktop-Computer-AWOW-Bluetooth-Ethernet/dp/B08T8B5JMC/ref=mp_s_a_1_15?crid=339UV20X2GNPR&keywords=mini+pc+j4125&qid=1642960334&sprefix=mini+pc+j%2Caps%2C141&sr=8-15
It was a little cheaper when I bought it but still works.
You can also use this link to help determine which processors will work: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/series/77504/intel-celeron-processor-j-series.html
For best results, I think you’re looking for any Celeron processor within the J or N categories, with at least 4 cores. You want to pair that with at least 4gb of ram, but I always found 8 was a bit on the safer side.
I have the same problem, I use NordVPN, Parsec, and Plex. I've enabled split tunnel and I've added the apps you've mentioned plus the ones for Plex and when Nord is active, no roms can play. When the VPN is inactive, the content is able to pass without issue. Would like for this to work with running vpn -- Hope you find a solution.
THey have been working on getting it, Mac hosting has been released and is in beta. https://twitter.com/parsecteam/status/1189682101257482248?lang=en
They have admitted themselves, its a want, and in the pipeline: https://parsec.app/blog/dev-community-diaries-turning-parsec-into-the-ultimate-home-console-5e95f9ac951d (very final paragraph)
they have posted it on here (i cannot find the post or link but its somewhere) that Linux Hosting is next on the list (as Windows is good enough and mac is beta, they were tackling the hardest last with linux.. ) its in the pipeline, fuck knows when though.
and as far as even the linux client goes, the lack of 265 on it is just horrible. :/ so I (opinion here!) have very little faith we will see Parsec linux hosting this year in 2022.
Yes, GP Overlay works - takes a bit of setup but will do what you are looking for. For sure make sure to check out the youtube videos that the creator has made Works pretty well and have been using it to play Forza 5 from my gaming pc at home on my phone at work
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gingergear.keyboard
It ships with non root user as default now just because people are using as their main os:
https://www.kali.org/news/kali-default-non-root-user/
Even though I'll admit it's unusual and not the best practice, and I'd probably be better with something like Ubuntu, I found it to be suitable for my needs of NAS'ing and torrent boxing a rp4.
I just wanted to try parsec, otherwise SSH and TeamViewer are more than enough for connecting to my headless rp4 at this point in time.
You still have to have a PC that can run the game to use Parsec. A host computer runs the game and you connect to it. It can be your own PC or you can buy a cloud PC somewhere and set it up to stream but thats fairly technical. https://shadow.tech Is probably what you are actually looking for. That is a gaming focused cloud gaming PC that is pre-configured. It may take a while to get one though. When I got one a few months back it took 2 weeks to get allocated one. Worth a look though. I disagree with the other person here I think you are fine playing a game like Overwatch over stream. You are not going to be the best ever at it but for casual play youll be fine. The TTK in Overwatch and the aim is fairly forgiving. You would of course be better on a local PC but its fine for just hopping on and enjoying quickplay or whatever.
Sorry if my message was confusig - was typing from phone before bed.
What I meant is - why don't you just set it up so your OS account on your guest pc has a password for login - it will not let anyone use your parsec from it while not logged in. Then, additional layer of security would be to add some other app for remote control that boots before windows login. I recall I had success with my 3-d computer and google chrome's remote desktop app. Have a separate account on your host than the one you have on your guest, but have them friend each other so one sees other when you log in on host.
So have password lock on your guest not to let someone use your account, use a remote desktop app to unlock it when needed. On unlocked host have a second parsec account. It will prompt a connection dialogue on host when you'll be connecting - you'll need to click on it. When need to confirm connection by a friend - use remote desktop to approve connectionon host.

I hope that all makes some sense...
I found a solution for streaming:
I hope I don't break any rules by advertising another software ;)
As long as Parsec won't act on mous/keyboard input I'll be using Moonlight. This will only work for users with nVidea cards, so sorry AMD folks.
the setup is a little more complicated than with Parsec but ist well documented on their website.
It works like a charm for me. Hopefully this gets fixed soon and we can return to Parsec.
Have a nice time in Night City folks!
None!
Parsec can be used completely free of charge. Warp and Teams are really for professionals who need extra, specific features for certain workloads, but the streaming tech is the same whether paid or not.
For a full breakdown and chart of the differences you can go here: https://parsec.app/warp
But in short, if you’re just looking to game Parsec is totally free and you can go right ahead and download it
I was thinking about getting something like this, do we think this can handle it?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Windows-Processor-Computer-Ethernet-Business/dp/B09BVPMW4V/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=micro%2Bpc&qid=1635793016&sr=8-4&th=1
UHD Intel HD Graphics 600.
I use a j4125 everyday for Parsec streaming, works great. Only thing is you may want to be careful with it in a compute stick vs a more standard mini pc form factor. I could be totally wrong, but I thought the compute sticks throttled their cpus to lower tdps than when they are in a more formal mini pc housing. That could potentially affect performance. Other than that you need 4gb ram minimum. Oh and the compute sticks I felt also lacked I/O compared to a mini pc form factor, perhaps you want to consider that.
Literally first one I saw on Amazon Mini PC Windows 10 pro 6GB DDR4 128GB SSD Micro PC Intel Celeron J4125(up tp 2.70Ghz) Quad-Core Mini Computer Dual HDMI Gigabit Ethernet 2.4G/5G WiFi Bluetooth 4.2 Triple Display 4K UHD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BG4X99Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_EB1D5MM13NW1XBDV5JN9
Mini PC. Something from Intel that starts with either an N or J, avoid Atom processors. Ideally 4 cores, and 4 gbs of ram minimum.
This is just one of the first things I saw on Amazon, and it would work perfectly: https://www.amazon.com/Desktop-Computer-AWOW-Bluetooth-Ethernet/dp/B08T8B5JMC/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=mini+pc&qid=1629527400&sr=8-17
Dont be afraid to wait and look around for discounts or on eBay, you can definitely get one for sub $150. I use essentially the same PC I linked everyday for Parsec myself
Maybe this would work? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gingergear.keyboard
I'm way too lazy to figure out how to set the thing up in a sane way, but it seems like it would work over the top of Parsec since it can act as a typical Android virtual input device like an on-screen keyboard.
Hi there! The setup is still going great for me. I don't use it as frequently since the birth of my daughter, but I never have any trouble when firing it up after a while.
These devices handle BlueTooth / USB peripherals just as well as any computer only being limited by the number of USB ports, I personally bought this Air Remote that works like a dream for simple navigation: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H3K6PFD
I use this with 4 PS3 controllers paired to the device via BlueTooth and all 4 of them can simultaneously connect without conflict. There is currently a bug in the non-Windows versions of Parsec with some controller axis' not mapping but the Parsec Team is working on that.
My host is a headless computer with a fitHeadless GS HDMI adapter (like $10). I run the resolution at 1080p60. My Thin-Client is hooked up to my HDTV at 1080p, I'm debating whether or not to get a 4k TV in the future so I'm going to be testing if the hardware acceleration in this chipset can support a 4k stream @ 60fps. (I should be able to test that without a 4k TV)
In a local LAN I forget that I'm streaming most of the time, definitely recommend ethernet over WiFi for the best experience. Good 5Ghz WiFi works well most of the time, but there's the occasional WiFi jitter that's hard to eliminate.
Yeah. I'm using an HDMI dongle from Amazon (link below) to use parsec without a monitor. Works pretty good, just need to turn the setting called "Mousekeys" on in Windows 10, otherwise it will hide your mouse cursor.

u/PoshoDev u/bennyGrose N4000 based Mini PC - Winner winner chicken dinner: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082VVCFNG/
The N4000 sports Intel UHD Graphics 600 which appears to be the perfect level of performance at a decent price. I got that Mini PC on a flash deal for $115 and I don't regret it at all, though the base price of $150 also isn't bad for the perfect device.
Works great with both Windows and Lubuntu, though with Lubuntu I had to manually install the Intel drivers to enable hardware acceleration. Linux has better PS3 controller support so that's what I wanted anyways.
I'm going to do a full write-up later of all the different devices I tested and my recommendations going forward. There are a few J Series and N Series chipsets that I'll be recommending.
You need an EDID emulator.
EDIT Sorry, you need something like this.
With good hardware acceleration, Parsec doesn't use much RAM. N4100 is overkill and overpriced for JUST Parsec but definitely works, Parsec on my work computer (a GPD MicroPC which runs N4100) showed 20% cpu and gpu usage from Parsec while streaming while consuming 250mb of ram and it worked great.
This would be a neat Mini PC to have, but I can't justify the price if I'm using it for Parsec only: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082VZP76P/ - The HeroBox has a N4100 with 8GB of RAM, and wouldn't be a bad general use computer.
u/PoshoDev u/bennyGrose I'm returning the W5 Pro Compute Stick, hardware acceleration performance consistently can't keep up with the demands of Parsec. It is currently unclear if this is due to the Z8350 chipset, or the design of this specific stick. I'm going to try something like the Atomic Pi as recommended elsewhere or a GUZILA Mini PC. Both are based on the x5-Z8350 chipset, but likely regulate power better. I'll let you know what I find out.
Yes I’ve looked at that on Amazon as well, looks very neat. It’s interesting you mentioned GDP, earlier in quarantine I was heavily considering the win 2 (I know there’s a win max, a bit big for my liking) but it’s just a bit expensive. I envision something that is not only great for in home streaming to my TV, but I can also really easily throw in my bag and plug into a tv in a hotel when I’m traveling, or a friends tv when I’m hanging out somewhere. A portable parsec device, that’s why the HDMI sticks come to mind https://www.amazon.com/Azulle-Access3-Windows-Fanless-Apollo/dp/B07HGNRPYP?ref_=ast_sto_dp but I guess it all comes down to finding one at a reasonable price
