Get AccuBattery app from play store its very helpful. Here are a few useful tips that could helped in my opinion:
⚫Only charge your phone to 80% and don't let your phone go bellow 30%.
⚫Don't let your phone over heat and Keep it away from water.
⚫Remove useless apps that run in the background.
Like you said phones are not built to last, It will degrade over time. You can get it replaced for around $30-60 USD.
Just got this for $6 on Amazon. Squeeze works fine.

Screen recording was disabled in Android 10 beacuse it was buggy. You can reenable it using the developer options;
> Developer Options > Feature Flags > settings_screenrecord_log_press
(enable)
Long press power button and click record screen
.
If you don't want to do that because it's buggy, then try something that's not built in; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.afollestad.mnmlscreenrecord
If you want to try it, it's fine to do so. It's just installing a new app. To downgrade back to official, you'll have to uninstall updates
on the camera app and then re-update via the play store.
It's not a big deal at all and doesn't touch the OS in any way.

You have to use this ported apk, which i can confirm to work (all the livewallpapers, including the Earth one): https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/pranav-pandey/pixel-wallpapers-18-port/pixel-wallpapers-18-port-9-release/ make sure you select the 8.0+ version of it. Uninstall your old one first. Also the 2017 wallpapers from this dev work too!
Cheers
You're right, under $4 for the 3a XL. Regular 3a still around $7/$8 though. If it wasn't for the expensive shipping to Europe I'd get another one https://www.amazon.com/Google-Pixel-3a-Case-Fog/dp/B07PFQXMKF/?_encoding=UTF8&pf_rd_p=d3ce4397-0e51-4046-a9f2-7b196c2bf843&pd_rd_wg=Wqzxg&pf_rd_r=29CM5QJPJS9GT2766ZEG&content-id=amzn1.sym.d3ce4397-0e51-4046-a9f2-7b196c2bf843&pd...
Thanks for the tip. I found the case for the 3aXL for $4 on Amazon, Here's the link so you don't have to wade through 47 pages of cases with jewels and crap that are not what you told Amazon you were looking for: https://www.amazon.com/Google-Pixel-3a-Case-Fog/dp/B07PFQYW7D/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=pixel%2B3a%2Bxl%2Bcase%2Bfabric&qid=1665327124&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjY2IiwicXNhIjoiMC42NSIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&s=wireless&sr=1-2&th=1
Your phone is having a hard time recognizing the USB device. It's most likely not formatted correctly.
Download SDCard Memory Formatter and reformat your USB device. Restart your phone. And then pop it in. Should work fine.
Have you looked at https://twrp.me/google/googlepixel3axl.html ?
I found your post because I'm trying that but am getting a different error myself.
I love mine, but if you're going to use head/earphones, I think Viper4Android is mandatory to tweak the sound,
which also means rooting.
The process is not nearly as tricky as in the past, and Magisk is a big part of that.
It's my understanding that Google One will eventually replace Google Drive. There will be more pricing options and I think the ability to share the space with family members.
If all you have are the free 15GB or the $1.99 (USD) 100GB plan, those prices will not change. https://www.multcloud.com/tutorials/google-one-drive-1234.html
I guess you can opt-in early by downloading the app. (?) It would be nice to know if we could try the Google One without it messing up the way Google Drive currently works.
I am hoping against the odds that Google One would bring Photos back into Backup and Sync for desktop PC. That separation of Photos a couple of months ago really messed up my workflow.

Use this item with an MicroSD card and File Manager App to transfer the pictures across.
It will take a lot of time as the USB C is not very fast.
I use the ESR tempered case, which is thin, protective but most importantly grippy! I tried several cases before settling on this one as all the others felt so slidy in my hand.

I purchased the moment case, but didn't want to pay the ridiculous price for a moment portrait lens ($120 or so) so I bout the Sirui 60mm which was half the price. It is absolutely amazing.
Here are some shots taken with the lens. https://photos.app.goo.gl/PtNieetKGYS5UFi4A
Some of those shots are taken with portrait mode, which really doesn't do the lens much justice because there's additional blurring going on. The 4k videos are a really good way to see how the lens works and how it focuses so I definitely recommend watching those. I have been so incredibly happy with the lens. Here's the product page on Amazon, and if you scroll down you'll see my review of it as well.

In case you don't get an answer here. This free app pays you to block calls from anyone not on your contacts list. You'd have to find something else for your messaging though.
I've mentioned before in other threads, but the trick I use to achieve these more than respectable scores is an app called Naptime. It forces the phone into doze mode more frequently than native Android and that saves a ton of battery.
This is on a 3a. My trick is I use an app called NapTime and disable all the google apps that I don't use (Maps, Auto, Drive, Movies, Youtube)
Gboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin&hl=en), the official Google keyboard preinstalled on all pixel devices, allows you to change the keyboard size.
This helped me to reduce repeated typos.
Go to Settings an search for keyboard. Select Gboard > Settings. Under Layout you'll find the section Keyboard size, where you can select the keyboard size that best fits your needs.
Hope this helps.
Try download this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.displaytester
Go to Tests.. Burn in detection and play around with various settings and see if the yellow goes away or it stays?
I have found that my pixel 3a charges fastest (~2000 mA) with the Stock USB-C to USB-C cord and block, decently fast (~1100 mA) with my old Samsung and LG fast charging blocks (USB-A to USB-C, 6-ft cord), and "slow"/regular speed (~300 mA) with ordinary charging blocks. If you want some insight to how fast your phone is charging with various charging cord and block configurations, I would recommend looking for an app that tells you how fast your battery is charging/discharging. Personally, I use Accubattery, but I'm not sure how useful the free version is since I use the paid version. If you search around, you might be able to find other apps like it tho.
*btw, the charging rate numbers I mentioned above are just what I can remember off hand, they might be off.
I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hnib.smslater Do it later, I've used this for nearly a year to send myself and my wife a reminder at 6pm to give our daughter medication, it hasn't once failed, it's also updated quite frequently. Hope I'm allowed to link to an app, it's really good.
Hi, sorry I'm on mobile so idk how to do short links and stuff so here's a long link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.recorder
I don't know if you've tried it yet, it's the new Google Recorder, exclusively for Pixels. A Google play store search doesn't show it, unfortunately, but I've had it for a few weeks and have had success with it. Hopefully this helps!
I posted in some other posts, Hvae you tried a different messaging app? If not, try Textra!
YEars ago, I had similar problems with my Nexus 5 when I was on T-Mo. Switched to Textra and haven't had an issue since.
Looks like they just marked it down today on Amazon but not by as much ($460 CAD)
I got he cheapest one i could find on amazon. Honestly the secret to putting in on is to take your time and used the stickers included to line it all up.

good luck
Amazon should definitely have them. I use the Ghostek Exec 3 for my 3a XL. While it's not the same style you asked about, I do recommend it.
It doesn't have to be expensive. I think mine was around $10 off Amazon. All it's doing is holding your phone so don't spend too much. The one I bought came with a Bluetooth clicker so I can push a button, remotely, and snap the picture. Here is a link to something similar to what I use. https://www.amazon.com/UBeesize-Portable-Adjustable-Universal-Compatible/dp/B06Y2VP3C7/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=phone+tripod&qid=1577969293&sprefix=phone+tr&sr=8-3

i got this when it was $4. bought another for my dad's 3a.
I vouch for this one any day of the week. https://www.amazon.com/TUDIA-EXTREME-Precise-Compatible-Metallic/dp/B07RH9DJ3R?th=1&psc=1
I'm clumsy as hell, too, have dropped my 3a xl numerous times and not a scratch on it and no screen protector. Was the same deal, same case, on my previous Nokia 6.1
This is super helpful, thanks very much, I think this is the winner at the moment, you mean this one?
When the 3a's first came out, there were only a hand full of cases and screen protectors to choose from, and hardly any reviews. And I'll be honest, I'd never used a glass screen protector before. Before what was prevalent was the flimsy plastic ones, but now it's glass. So I just took a chance on a brand. I bought Omoton Brand from Amazon.
I was very happy with them! They feel very nice under your finger, and they definitely have an oleophobic coating on them. And now they sell them with a plastic frame guide that makes installation incredibly simple and ensures a perfectly aligned fit.
Any negative reviews, which are common among most of these glass protectors, is that the glass is about as wide as the viewable screen, and doesn't go edge to edge. I personally have no issues with this. If it's installed properly, it protects the screen, and ensures no conflicts with any case you may use. I've now bought from this company three times for use on my phone and now my wife has a Pixel 3a. Also I personally don't like really bulky cases, so I've never used an Otterbox. But I have relatives that use them, and they are built like a tank, so i'm sure it does protect a lot. Here is a link to the exact Omoton protectors, with frame guide, that I just bought and installed on my wife's phone.

I got this puppy and after my popsocket had been on there for a day or two I realized I wanted to move it. It REALLY didn't want to be pulled back off.

I've used a thumb drive with my phone to transfer some things, and it's worked perfectly fine so far. I specifically got a dual USB-C/USB-A thumb drive as my laptop still uses USB-A and can transfer files, uncompressed photos, and videos to my laptop and not have it clog up my phone's storage. Specifically, I got the below thumb drive. I haven't used it a ton yet as I'm coming from a 32 GB phone and am not in danger of going over my storage, but I wanted to get it as I plan on taking a lot more photos with this phone.
EDIT: forgot to include the link to the thumb drive https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EZ0X3L8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pldnSite=1
As far as I know this is an Android thing and BT simply commandeers the entire audio output. I did find this Sound About app mentioned, but you'll have to check and see if it's what you want.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix.pro
Also, that's just for the key and I don't see the actual app anywhere so you might have to email the dev or something.
You can try the "rootless launcher" too. It's pretty much the same as the pixel launcher, but you can remove the widget with time and temperature, etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=amirz.rootless.nexuslauncher&hl=en_CA
I found that the stock app reduced quality too much for my liking during recording. Not sure if its just compression for file type or what.

I used this app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.cinema.pro&hl=en_US - and found with custom settings, I was able to get more consistent videos.

I use it for swimming (outdoors so great lighting) and it is definitely better than stock app for my use to my untrained eye.

Can't really help for editing, as I don't edit the clips.
thanks, this looks promising,
but could you also check if this app is installable? ARCore (Google Play)
This app, "Pocket Call Sense", looks like it would work but very few people have tried it so not 100% sure: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blueskyapps.pocket.call.sense
Pocket Call Sense prevents the accidental pocket touch problem which results in accidental call answering, call rejection & messaging.
How does it work? Whenever a call is received, Pocket Call Sense gets notified and it checks whether the phone is inside your pocket or bags using the proximity sensor and turns off your smartphone display and thus there is no accidental touch.

I just switched my clear case out that had a lower above screen lip, too. Also, the new case covers the rocker switches rather than being cut outs so that will help protect them from dust/dirt. Good grip, stays spotless (no fingerprint marks, hasn't scratched). And only $3.82+. Google Pixel 3a case,MAIKEZI Soft TPU Brushed Anti-Fingerprint Full-Body Protective Phone Case Cover for Google Pixel 3a(Black Brushed TPU)
How does the back of your case feel? I have one that looks identical but is from a different vendor and the back of it has this horrible texture that feels so rough and dry on my hands.
I have [this](smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P3HTR7B/) screen protector and it goes slightly past the edge of the screen, but not all the way to the edge of the case, so there is still a gap. Like you I'm hoping to get a better combo later once there is more feedback.
Here's the temp (cheap) case/screen protector combo I bought until a clear winner emerges in the market.
Cost with 1-day shipping: $17 total.
I have that same case for my pixel3a XL...I liked it but I was just using it until my Google Pixel case came in! I got the seascape color, and I really like it for the button functionality...not “squishy” on the buttons, but rather “clicky !” https://www.amazon.com/Google-GA00792-Pixel-Case-Seascape/dp/B07PK5LYSY/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=Google+pixel+3a+case&qid=1559322421&s=gateway&sr=8-11
