The driver of the white car had his friend come to the scene of the accident and give a false report to the police officer, making himself a “witness to the accident“. The cop interviewed both of them first and then came to me, I told him that I had dash cam video but he wanted me to explain what happened first. I did and the officer looked very confused and asked to see the video. Apparently, the driver who hit me and his made up a wild story about me driving erratically and weaving in and out of lanes, ultimately ramming into his car. The officer was very close to criminally charging the “witness“ for providing false testimony to a police officer. Needless to say, the driver of the white car was cited for the accident and I was not. The officer did say that the DashCam video saved me from being at fault as he would have had to rely on the driver and “witness“ account of the accident which was wildly different from what actually happened.
Because people were asking in the other sub, I’m using the Roav DashCam A1, by Anker

I had the first generation of the Vantrue N1, it seems like they have released a newer one here
For the price / quality it is very good. Crystal clear day and night recording in 1080p full HD, has a bunch of features like parking mode, g sensor etc... and it is small and discrete but built really well. I would highly recommend it and their support is helpful too.
Edit: also make sure to use a good quality class micro SD card.
This video has been mirror reversed for some reason, if you watch in 720p and pause with street signs in view you can tell. So, the rider had his rear brake on, and his left foot on the ground.
This accident once again highlights the importance of driving carefully in wintry weather. With an absolutely idiotic pass in a no-passing-zone. while going faster than the legal speed limit of 110 kph in pretty bad conditions, a father wiped out his whole family (wife and young son).
Three people in the Ford Fusion died instantly, while all occupants of the Volvo survived. Once again goes to show how tough these Volvos are. Source.
Yes, that's a Ford Fusion, although not the kind of Ford Fusion you can get in the States. The Fusion in this video was sold in Europe from 2002 to 2012 as a small and boxy 5-door budget hatchback. More in that particular car here.
Look how much time he saved. Fucking guy is shaving seconds off his commute. Totally worth it.
Having a 50+ min commute to work in traffic has really made me into such a chill driver. I see people constantly switching lanes, accelerating hard back and forth, blah blah blah. Then 30 minutes later we're at the same light after the traffic breaks. I sat in my car listening to a podcast chilling in the same lane while they tried to sneak into every gap they could. Fucking pointless stress.

ITT: "Here's the laws in my country so this is why I'm right with my opinion."
So there's no reason to come to a full stop if everyone is stopped. They do have to take care not to run into people who didn't get the memo, though.
As to this situation: dickface BMW was speeding like a motherfucker, that's definitely above the 50 km/h legal at that intersection. Somebody can do a frame movement thingie, but I'm guessing it's roundabout seventy, as that's the cheap (<50€ for ≤ 20 km/h excess) speeding speed most speeders have in cities. I'm just fairly confused why the ambulance doesn't see the guy, because only a truck could be effectively blocking their view at the spot (ambo would be coming from the right border of that image, beamer from the opposing traffic lane); that would suggest ever harsher speeding or someone doing a bone-head move like pulling out of a traffic queue and hitting the throttle because the idiots are all standing.
Or you know, install uBlock Origin if you are on PC. On Android install Youtube AdAway.
I will also put a shout out for the A129. I've had one in my car for the last two years and it saved me the hassle during an insurance claim. The new one just came out which is 4k and also looks really nice and I getting it for my wifes car.
We have those. My neighbor keeps them in bulk in his garage. They're hard to see in the video because they face the road, but they regularly get broken by incidents like this.
Everyone should download this onto their phone, it's a very simple interface and provides basic first aid steps, you might save someone's life.
Get some remote tire monitors like this:

Very handy to have. They can alert you if you really have a flat or it starts to rapidly go down so you can pull over before you damage your wheels.
Not OP, but Yi Car Cams have Wi-Fi enabled and I can download straight from my cam to my phone.

I agree and am pretty sure this is not in the US. There are more countries out there than just the USA that refer to it's smaller geographical units as "states".
Here's a cap with a clear view of the Ferrari's plate along with a vehicle putting along in the right lane. I have no idea what it is, but it looks to have a huge logo and I am pretty sure I haven't seen it state-side.
They are driving on the right-hand side of the road, so it probably isn't AU or JP.
EDIT: I am going to guess this is in Taiwan.
It is this intersection: https://www.bing.com/maps?q=43.026919%2C+-87.917723&aqs=edge..69i57.53999682j0j4&pglt=163&FORM=ANNTA1&PC=EDGEDSE
Looks properly designed to me, just that people come flying over the bridge and then don't have enough time to slow down.
Probably a black guy driving a VAZ-2101 in a terrible, terrible shape, starting and subsequently stopping the engine every time he needed to move a couple inches in the traffic jam. I know you were hoping for something more ridiculous, but I'm not sure I can remember anything better.
Edit: Just remembered this: one time I've hitched a ride in an ambulance that was on its way to the hospital with the patient in it. He was pretty chill about it too, we played 2 rounds of tic-tac-toe.
I recently had to replace my normal 32G Sandisk after about a year of it always being on before it bit the dust. Upgraded to a 64GB High-Endurance card that will hopefully last longer.
Edit: Here is the high endurance one I purchased. ~$18 US with Prime
He sucks at it though. Whacking that big knife against the window ain't gonna do shit. You'd think if you knew you were planning a hit on someone in a car, you'd spend $5 and get an auto glass smasher.
Not saying you're wrong, only that this dude sucks at hit-manning.
I learned all of this stuff because someone left a copy of the book Skunk Works on a shelf in a storage closet at work. I never was interested in the topic beforehand and didn't expect to be so enthralled but it offers a fascinating insight into the world of US black military programs. I'm not usually one to offer endorsements but legitimately I couldn't put this book down. The matter of fact nature and the first hand account is fascinating.
Not a particularly clean method, but at 1:23 when the girl holding the phone realizes she's supposed to film in landscape mode, try this: http://deturl.com/rotate.asp?deg=-90&v=L3VXcjCbcsE

Ahhhhhh, the narrator that made me fall in love with The Martian. His reading elevates the book from great to truly magical.

It's the Anker Roav A1 Dashcam that I had replace my old Mobius action camera due to a sun-damaged lens.
> highway
It is a highway, might want to brush up on the definition here.
It also is definitely the type of road where you should be observing the left lane rule. Just because there might be a left turn every few miles does not mean slower traffic shouldn't keep right until they need to be in the left lane. Also, the fact that it's two lanes has nothing to do with whether you should be staying right or not.
You might be right if there was an intersection with left turns every quarter mile, but this is essentially a freeway. In short, you definitely need to be keeping right as much as you can unless you're passing.
I always was taught (in drivers ed) you're supposed to use the lane until it ends and zipper merge.... not saying example guy is right but why not let someone in when a lane ends?
The OpenCV library provides a bunch of prebuilt computer vision algorithms for these types of applications. It would not be hard to set up a simple proof of concept, but getting the accuracy up and the false positive rate down would take quite a bit of work.
I just got VIOFO A129 Pro Duo about a month ago after getting a new vehicle. I like it so far. Very much improved from the Viofo A119 and Roav C1 Pro I had previously. An idea of quality during dawn. Rear is through window tint and I do have anti-glare filters on both cameras.
I have not uploaded anything else as I only upload incidents and I only happened to get one less than a week of having it installed. I am happy with the video quality I have viewed from it and time will tell if it will survive multiple summers. The Viofo A119 GPS mount failed and the normal mounting got extremely loose. The new mounting system on the A129 is so much better not relying on pogo pins and is side mounted instead of forward. The Roav was alright but I had to mute the sounds on it because it is super annoying having it announce itself with a voice every single time it turns on and the screen shuts off.
I didn't even know they made these until I found them a minute ago, but they have "high endurance" microSD cards specifically for dashcams. Pretty cheap, too... though I think the industrial ones that we use at my job are probably better.
They're all teens, so probably some program AAA did that had parents install both a dashcam and cabin cam to monitor the driving habits of teens. They also appear to have G-Sensors monitoring the vehicle, to show hard braking and/or crashes.
Edit: One thing I didn't think about, there are also dual-camera dashcams that record the road and the cabin in a single unit. You could also simply get a dual-channel (dual-camera) system and mount the second camera in the cabin facing back instead of in the rear window.
If you link to the original, we would be able to discuss copyright; however, you cite "common creative" - I'm assuming you mean "creative commons", in which case: at the very least, you need to attribute, which you have failed to do. Here are the CC license types: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/#licenses
However, since you haven't linked to the original, we only have your word that it is CC in the first place. And frankly, I don't value your word much.

Yeah, they were installed very recently. From this update on June 30th:
> The City of San Jose Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the City of Campbell, is planning to install temporary right-turn-only half-teardrop islands on Campbell Avenue at the intersection of Campbell Avenue and Leigh Avenue within the next one to two weeks. Installation of signs, striping and temporary curbing is expected to take two to three days. After installation, The Department of Transportation will monitor traffic on Campbell Avenue and nearby neighborhood streets to determine the impacts of the temporary installation. > > The temporary islands are expected to be in place for nine to twelve months. Data will be collected and evaluated during this time. My office will provide updates on this project as it progresses.
I've only used it a few times but it's a GPS app that lets users submit reports about police, stuff in the road, and probably some other features.
Similar to Google Maps but has users that can help each other out

They have the worst traffic jams in the world in China. 10 days long sometimes. Village people come out and cook for the people stuck in the traffic jams.

It is great so far. Over half way though and already looking for the Head On follow up book. Would actually make a great cop procedural TV Show.
This (bing maps) is the intersection. (Google maps have not updated yet). There are 3 "one way" signs and a big sign with go straight only. But those drivers still decided to turn left to starbucks.

"So, what should you do? If you must exit because of fire or other safety reasons, open the door, but do not step out. Make sure that you jump completely free of the vehicle with both feet together to avoid contact with the live car (metal) and the ground at the same time.
Once you jump from a car with a power line on it, the danger may not be over. Electricity can spread out through the ground in a circle from any downed line. Hop as far away as possible from the vehicle keeping both feet together. Do not try to help someone else from the car while you are standing on the ground. If you do, you will become a path for electricity and could be hurt or killed!"

I know exactly what it means.
It's incidents like these that give me mix feel about NHTSA mandating back-up camera on all new car starting 2018. On one hand, it may reduced bumping into something (like OP's truck) while backing up. On the other hand, how hard was it to check the mirrors and look back? All I know is that it's just another feature to bump up the car price.
an audiobook, from someone else above:

Check out DaVinci Resolve. It's mostly a coloring program, but plenty powerful for basic edits. The paid license is for some effects and dealing with 4K footage, but everything else is free.
That isn't cheap. Add a few options like electric and heated seats and an automatic transmission for todays generation of BMW driver, and you're pushing 40k easily.
Edit: I can get a Mazda6 (not apples to apples I'm aware) FULLY LOADED (HID's, navigation, heated leather, sunroof, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, THE WORKS) for less than 30K US.
That is real value.

11foot8.com's A record (and therefore the webserver) is located at 184.172.129.21, as you find out from the public DNS servers you tried.
Apologies in advance if you are already aware of the following:
Attempting to browse to that IP by entering it into your browser's address bar will fail. You probably saw something like this. This is (probably) because the website is hosted on a server that hosts multiple unrelated websites and by entering the IP address you haven't given the web server enough information to know which site to serve up. When you enter the full DNS name into your browser and allow your computer to resolve the IP, as well as requesting the web page from the server your browser sends some data across known as the Host Header Name. This is, basically, the URL that you requested. This allows a single IP to host multiple websites.

You were not kidding! Amazon lists it as $389 with just the cameras, not including the battery.
Considering the image quality and how low profile and discreet the cameras are, it's not too bad, plus the wifi and 128GB sd support makes it reasonable.

Obviously it's fake, but personally I think a dashcam video parody is passable as humorous content.
There's a couple options all around, and you've got people who do everything here:
First off, from worst to best in winter, you've got dedicated summer tires, all seasons, studless winter tires, and studded tires. The difference between 1-3 is the rubber compound and tread patters. Summer tires don't grip at all on snow or ice, super dangerous. The rubber compound doesn't grip snow/ice at all. All seasons and winter tires are just rubber tires, with varying rubber compounds. All seasons are sorta jack of all trade, master of none. Winter tires have softer rubber, grip a lot better. Technically, you could use them in summer, but you'd wear them down a lot. Studded tires have metal studs for grip. They work really well, but they'll wear down fast if the roads don't have snow on them, and they're illegal outside of winter months. They only last a season or two.
There's really three main options: Either a spare set of tires on their own cheapo wheels for winter, all seasons, or changing tires on the same wheels. Personally, I use all seasons and don't change tires. Changing tires and using the same wheels is nice for not needing to store them, but it costs more to swap (balencing and all that) twice per year, whereas you can swap your own wheels just at home with a jack.
There's definitely people that do all of the options above, as well as people who have shitty tires who then get into wrecks.
11foot8.com's public DNS is hosted by enom.com which is a US based registrar.
Your requests for 11foot8.com are being delivered to a Polish IP address, but that is not a fault on 11foot8.com's side.
If your local machine is not the source of the problem (How have you proven that?) then you need to look upstream until you find the source of the problem.
Depending on your level of expertise, you may or may not like to look for help on bleepingcomputer.com which has quite an active community of helpful people in their forums.
Do what /u/theproftw said. Upload corrupted files to google drive or dropbox so that others can obtain copies and try to recover it.

For future videos, if you are using a G1W you might be encountering a common problem with the firmware, you'll need to look up how to update the firmware to another one that doesn't cause this. It may also be time to buy a new SD card, because they degrade with age, try to get one with proper write speed and reputable brand.

Fosse Way is the longest stretch.
Dead traffic lights are supposed to be treated like stop signs.
Everyone ignores that. Like in this video after a storm knocks out power. No accident here though.
Not as unlucky as OP.
this is the camera I have been using for several years...works great...sold under several chinese manufacturer names.
Huh. Look at that.
Take this MSF report (see last page - their high speed brake tests are at 80mph): http://www.msf-usa.org/downloads/imsc2006/Green-Comparison_of_Stopping_Distance-Paper.pdf
and compare it to these car numbers: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine-archive/2011/april/cars/best-and-worst/breaking-distance/index.htm
It looks like an ideal braking situation on a bike is probably about 1.5x the distance to stop at speed (roughly judging here, since speeds aren't the same) vs. an average car.
it was basically one of these and i found the right combination of brake and gearshift levers to wedge it onto my handlebar so i could hit the button with my thumb.
Just to keep my hands free, I'd wear something like this. Should be bright enough to get the job done and the motion of your arms combined with the flashing lights should be enough to get most driver's attention. There are even LED equipped collars and leashes to keep puppers safe!
Note: Since it draws a ton more power than the standard horn, you would melt the horn wiring if you hooked it up like the old one. What you do is connect the old horn wires to 2 of the connectors on a relay like this https://www.amazon.com/Vixen-Horns-Pre-Wired-Compressors-VXA7901/dp/B072KVXH7H/ref=sr_1_14?dchild=1&keywords=motorcycle+horn+relay&qid=1615307715&sr=8-14 And the relay becomes a switch that turns a direct battery connection on/off to the new horn. It's worth the extra work.
I use the Blackvue DR3500-FHD . It's a little more on the expensive side (~$119), but I really liked it's video quality and design. I didn't want something that was bulky or was too obvious to other drivers. There's no video screen on this one, which I actually viewed as a plus. To me there was no need for a screen since I can just put the microSD car into my phone (or computer) and view the footage. The camera really is, set it and forget it and can give voice notifications when it's recording (can be turned off).
The Blackvue also has parking mode, which allows it to continue to monitor when you turn your car off. I also purchased the Power Magic Pro which works with any dash cam (not just the ones listed in the title on Amazon). It keeps power to the dash cam until either a set time limit expires, or your battery reaches a certain level. It's never caused any car battery issues.
Sweet! Thx!
It looks you you set up a relay for them. I'm assuming I'll have to do the same thing if I install aux horns on my car too. It also looks like they're motor driven air horns, rather than speakers. I've been looking at horns like this on Amazon, but the way you went is way more cost-effective!
Do you remember what model of Cadillac you got them off?
I got this one in my mustang. I got it for $150 though during an amazon deal.
Edit: its on sale right now through amazon for $130 until 2:30 pm EST
Most cameras have a small display screen, well at least mine does. Your able to replay back video, save videos as your driving by pressing a button, also take pictures with it if your involved in a accident. Just pop it off and it has a battery to do as you need for your records. I got mine off amazon for like 100$ and it has recorded bad drivers which none have hot me yet.

Nah, it’s super easy. Find an alway hot fuse and one that only gets power when the car is on and use these to wire them in.

Just a tip... My cam has audio so when I see people doing weird things (like possible DUIs in front of me) and I can read the plate I read off the numbers to my camera. That way if it's too blurry for some reason and an event happens I have the audio in case the visual was illegible.
I picked up this Cobra model at Costco about 4 months ago and I've been satisfied with it. I recall paying less than $90 for it.

OpenStreetMap in bicycle mode is more accurate. Google Maps is better at being a yellow pages than a usable map, especially when cycling, walking or using transit.
It was actually Lock In. I have actually listened to Wil Wheaton's narration of Ready Player One twice already but have yet to see the movie.
Cool. You're right and thank you for sourcing.
But saying others can't drive for not doing something that isn't part of their countries or states road rules is still uncool.
Here's my country and states driving handbook:
Section 3.14 is turning. It mentions nothing about checking side mirrors when turning. My driving teacher didn't teach it however did teach checking rear view mirror leading up to a turn, and it was in no driving tests I took.
This could very well be the case for many places.
Fantastic idea. I haven't read any formal literature from automakers or tech developers about stylistic choices in driving.
The Chevy Volt has "mountain mode" that energizes the range extending engine to maximize charge in anticipation of passing over the rockies, etc. This is the most customization I've read about.
Yeah, the person who made the infograph labelled the color for that state WTF.
It doesn't appear to be Tennessee or Kentucky, though. I guess the infograph could have been wrong.
Tennessee:
> (3) Left Turns on Other Than Two-way Roadways. At any intersection where traffic is restricted to one (1) direction on one (1) or more of the roadways, the driver of a vehicle intending to turn left at any such intersection shall approach the intersection in the extreme left-hand lane lawfully available to traffic moving in the direction of travel of the driver's vehicle, and after entering the intersection, the left turn shall be made so as to leave the intersection, as nearly as practicable, in the left-hand lane lawfully available to traffic moving in that direction upon the roadway being entered;
Kentucky:
