Do yourself a favor. It's a little pricey, but better than paying for medical bills. Also, this camera is the 45 model, which is in the video. I'm thinking of getting rid of it and going for the 55 or 65, as I'm not loving the quality on it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFQTDQL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_jJl3CbWKJ6ZZY
In a testing space, you know who's watching you, who they are, and proper protocol/procedure.
At your house, using Respondus, you know have no idea who's watching you, giving access to your PC, WHICH HAS SOME OF THE MOST SENSITIVE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU SAVED ON IT. Would you give your laptop to some random stranger on the side of the street? No, you wouldn't. I'm in the middle of a test, have to worry about some TA think I'm telepathically talking to a chegg tutor when mumbling to myself, and then i'm supposed to trust the security of a third party software on my system to not "accidentally" leak my credit card/school info/ address to god knows who?
NordVPN got hacked a few months back, a corporation who's whole business RELIES, on security and privacy. Why would I ever trust Respondus with anything sensitive?
I don't.
If you can do every single question on this site you can pass any interview!!! The interviews are less about how many languages you know more about if you can come up with best solution. Tbh the major didn’t do a single bit in helping me get a job, I mostly self study on this site. https://leetcode.com/.
As for getting that interview, just “create” some random project that might sound interesting. As long as you can explain what you did youre good to go. Interviewers will never check for code. Thats how i ended up getting a job at the big 4
Hi everyone!
I've been fascinated about Sherman ever since I learned about him almost 20 years ago. I even once got to meet an alumni who was there when it happened and was told the story first-hand of what happened to the poor kid.
Here are some links of four Statesman newspaper articles about the incident and the aftermath.
I know what you're talking about (my best friend is in TX). Unfortunately, we don't have anything like that here. We'e got Edible Arrangements, but honestly, they're over priced and not particularly good. If you want to send your friend a nice meal (not overly expensive unless you go nuts), there are a few local restaurants on GrubHub here. I'd recommend entering the local zip code (11790), and checking out Fratellis. It's a nice Italian deli / place in the village that will deliver. They've got really nice pizzas, sandwiches, etc. They have good cookies too, but don't seem to have them on their grubhub menu.
I'd have to agree that we made mostly superficial introductions to new material, some handwaving, then spent an inordinate amount of time on proofs. Sometimes we'd launch into a lecture-long proof and it wasn't really clear why we cared about what we were proving. Initially I was pretty disappointed with it, but I thought the course got better at the end of the semester in that respect. <rant>The human compilers in the front row got a pretty irritating too. Sometimes I wish Rob would just not acknowledge their pedanticism in favor of focusing on more important, difficult to understand parts of the material. Seriously, sometimes we just don't care if there's an off-by-one error, the general idea is more important. </rant>.
I think the course made a lot more sense if you followed along with CLRS - Introduction to Algorithms, which is just one of the recommended texts. Once I realized that most of the lecture material was pulled almost entirely from that book I started doing a lot better. I think if it was a required text, and he referenced the chapters, the class would have benefitted greatly. I bombed a few early homeworks too. hugs.
I think this is Rob's first semester teaching 373, and that showed a little. Next semester will probably be... exponentially.... better. sorry couldn't help it.
Why not just get one from Amazon?
You'll be able to pick it up in the library by tomorrow.
They don't allow you to. And they can track you really. Anytime you connect to wifi you have to log n with your university NetID account. So if you torrent they immediately know. Check out Private Internet Access if you wanna torrent on campus
Hey I don't know why you got downvoted so much but I just updated the app and Chapin should now be available. I hope you like it!
Tbh I haven't taken orgo at Stony, I took it a little in high school, but this is what got me through it, basically its just narrated lectures you can get online imo they're pretty good plus he draws nice pictures and has no accent.
I am unsure of how his 101 tests are, but he likes to give hard tests to his upper division students. As far as time commitment, it depends on how quickly you understand the material. Coding can take a very long time depending on how much you need to debug, or it can be fairly quick. It's not a class you can just sign-up for and not go to class / not pay attention. But its a very good topic to know. If you want to take it i would recommend looking through some of these https://www.sololearn.com/Course/Python/ as knowing this will help immensely. Also be sure to join the CSE discord as there is always people willing to help out and answer questions(you can still join even if not a CSE major) :) https://discord.gg/ZhGs4zG
I'm in that class and I spend maybe 4-5 hours on the homework each week. I think the prof said in class that only around ~10 people did the GUI extra credit last time, so it's definitely not a lot of people.
I'd recommend using Tutorialspoint and the official Java Oracle documentation. They are very concise and to the point.
I didn't buy the class textbook because it was too expensive and am using Liang's "Introduction to Java Programming" (you can find it for free online), which has all the same material and is very comprehensive.
Use the LIRR. Timetables are online but the easiest way is probably to use the Train Time app
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.lirr.portal
Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lirr-traintime/id757322195
Yes to the bike shop across from the train station, but for a long term solution look into buying a portable pump on amazon. They’re like 20 bucks and will fit in a backpack. This is what I have:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010JFWDHS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ILQuFbTHD39JA
Not a GPS app, but one that is useful in general
Campus card app
You can check your dining dollars (+more) balance

PIA gave me terrible speeds and it was always a hassle to connect. I'm using ExpressVPN rn and I can see why people says its one of the best VPNs. So easy to connect, fast, and has a nice UI. Only downside is the price.
Interesting. Was the password correct? Looks like they probably got it from a leaked database.
Check haveibeenpwned.com for a list of databases you were breached from if you don't know of them. Change known and similar passwords
The Statesman interviewed the seniors graduating this year to get an overview of what they thought of Stony Brook. You can get a decent idea of what the university is like from that. The back page has advice seniors would give to students who are thinking about applying. http://issuu.com/sbstatesman/docs/the_statesman_final_05-04/9?e=0
https://libgen.pw/item/adv/5a1f058c3a044650f5124b5d heres a link to download a pdf of the 13th edition of the textbook. I know it looks super sketchy but you just have to click on GET at the top to start the download. I downloaded it myself so its not a virus.
Thought I'd help you out and save you $139 dollars buying the book or even the 30 dollars to rent it.
A lot of people, including myself, dont have an iPhone or don't like apple, and their limitations... Regardless, it took me 15 minutes to install. Not really a lot of work at all. Also, according to Apples Carplay compatibility List you're extremely limited to which vehicles it's available for. With the exception of a kia soul and a hundai genesis, it's not available for any vehicle before 2016 from apple. Any vehicle after then probably already has bluetooth. But you said cheapo, so I'm assuming not from apple... It will literally be the same amount of work, if not less, getting the modulator installed.
If people go for it, great. But the reason I gave my solution is because you can easily and cheaply put on the song of your choice for any vehicle back to the 80s (and more, with a $7 antenna cable) without getting an entire new head unit.
I've never encountered banned websites my entire time here, I think pretty much everything is available. You can probably find a free vpn on the very rare occurrence you find a site you cannot access.
Another thing I didn't mention in the above comment is not all phones work in the US, we have different cell phone bands so make sure you check your phone compatibility with US carriers. You might have to buy a new one if it does not support 4G bands. Sometimes I buy international phones because they're a lot cheaper than US android phones and have to check band support. I would suggest checking https://www.kimovil.com/en/
Step 1 Install client VPN on OS Step 2 Activate that VPN Step 3 Verify sign in not allowed IN BROWSER VERSION. Step 4 Use proxy extensions which mask your IP (which is now the vpn) from the website. Order of finding proxy extensions see if your vpn offers one (see how NordVPN offers one on PlayStore use it in conjunction to the vpn from step 2) Step 5 If it works successfully great! If not don’t fret try to use a different vpn extension in the browser but be wary of the free ones and check for credibility if you’re paranoid for some reason.
sure, its a fender squire bullet strat like mint green if you cant tell from pics, comes with amp, strap, tuner, picks, guitar bag and an instructional dvd. Used twice in its lifetime because im terrible at it. hows $140 for everything? http://imgur.com/a/pRWhf

keeping your focus can be more challenging for sure. Build a system for success (e.g. use website blockers and phone apps that help you focus like Forest: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cc.forestapp&hl=en_US)
I don't really like how this school teaches C. They kind of just throw you in to the ocean. If you want to take 230, that's okay. But I recommend getting a copy of The C Programming Language by K&R. It's not a big book and is basically the bible of C. Reading that should be enough IMO.
It doesn't matter which one you take first, but you'll want Skiena for 373 and to read http://www.amazon.com/Mathematical-Theory-Computation-Dover-Mathematics/dp/0486432386 if you want a great understanding of ToC. (Much better than Leo will give you.)
Oh yeah? If this a free country how do you explain this?
Sorry to say doesn’t look like it.Accumulation of only 1 inch
But who knows, weather can always change. Hope for your sake that it does.

I'm pretty sure this will stream anything coming from an Oculus Quest 2 VR
Yeah I sleep on the side as well so I got this thing: https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Bluetooth-Headband-Waterproof-Meditation/dp/B082NZCHD3/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2ZUALA7KNY97E&keywords=noise+cancelling+headband&qid=1645084002&sprefix=noise+cancelling+headban%2Caps%2C313&sr=8-3
It doesn't really have good noise cancelling though, if there is one with noise cancelling it would be great. With this headband white noise, I still have to use ear plug underneath. But it's better than just ear plugs.
You can get two tests for $18 or 4 for free from the gov
Hey all! Unfortunatley we've been lacking in membership fundraising so why not ask SBu redditors if they wanna buy donuts!

Hey!
I messaged you before; managed to find 'em!

You can click the links and download the PDF's here. Figured I'd post it here instead of a message in case anyone else needed it, too.
Good luck!
Are you trying to use the Enzo trailer link? Because that testing site doesn't exist anymore. Use this link for the GLS/HDV site, it shows me plenty of appointments every day this month: https://calendly.com/suny-stony-brook-gls/covid-testing?month=2021-01

Wayback machine has your back. Seems mostly concerned with algorithm proofs than actual implementation.
Hello, I checked class find and it looks like the professor you'll be getting is Bakhtavar Hagedorn . Here is the fall 2015 syllabus . She doesn't mind you taking tests on other days but has specifically said that you have to take your final on your designated day, she has fought for it before and lost. The finals are not determined by the professor but by the school which is why they may seem wonky. The entire final can be done on the calculator. She is absolutely great, a very easy A if you pay attention and do the work. Good Luck <3
Safet Dabovic is absolutely amazing. Completely down to Earth, and taught skepticism over writing. No time wasting, no bullshit, and he amusingly would poke fun at Stony Brook's administration nearly on a daily basis.
You have a couple options. But first, I'd definitely check www.kayak.com and see which airport you can get the best deal out of LA as well as the NYC area.
Sometimes it may be cheaper to fly out of Burbank, Long Beach, Orange County (John Wayne), or Ontario. Jetblue flies to JFK from all LA airports except John Wayne, which is only non-stop to Newark on United.
The closest airport to Stony Brook is Long Island Mac Arthur Airport (ISP), which is a 20 minute Uber ride form campus. However, you cannot fly there nonstop from the West Coast. You can only connect through Philly on American Airlines or Southwest Airlines via Baltimore.
If you can't find a good deal to ISP, I would do your best to find a nonstop flight to JFK. From JFK, the train is your best bet. You'd take the AirTrain to Jamaica, and board a Port Jefferson train bound for Stony Brook (you'll likely have to change at Huntington).
The trip is $5 on AirTrain plus $11 from Jamaica to Stony Brook on the Long Island Rail Road. On the other hand, I would try your best to avoid Newark at all costs. The total trip time would be over three hours and it's very expensive with a lot of transfers.
Hope this helps! PM me if you have any questions.
Not just you. Most trackers seem to have recently stopped working / been blocked on wolfie...sad day.
Edit: Here's a 50-day free trial for a great VPN called ZenMate if anybody is interested. Just beat a short little flash game, and no credit card required (click on all the ghosts and pumpkins, and avoid the candies). Been working great for me so far - 12 ping and 85Mbps down on Ethernet.
I don't really recommend uploading the content as professors can be particular about that, though I've done a quick and dirty pass through the SBU CS site and scrapped together a decent directory listing for you to browse. It contains several class lectures from courses where the prof decided to make slides available barring use of blackboard. (as its publicly viewable this shouldn't be an issue)
I have this Link . Its less than 3$ and free delivery.
You can have mine if you only afew ml and its urgent.
a lot of dorms use rj11 wall jacks so you may need an rj11 male to rj45 (standard "ethernet") adapter i havent been to the Roosevelt dorms so i dont know if this is what it is you specifically need but you can find these on amazon and you can use the free next day/2 day delivery to the amazon SBU lockers
ik he gave us a link and we need the physical clicker but I wont get it by the date on amazon can I buy the physical one in shop red or does anybody have a used one they can send me. this is the link he gave us. https://www.amazon.com/Turning-Technologies-Response-Card-Clicker/dp/193493139X
It helps to get a tv stand like this instead of using those feet that a lot of TVs come with that can get too far apart sometimes. Stands like this also fit on top of the dressers if anyone wanted to put a TV in their room (I do that with a 40 ish inch TV and it’s great for chilling in a corridor style room especially) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077MJZ6ZG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_WCQGJ4A17JJFD5ATNE4Q
Yea I'm planning to use it for classes and maybe some casual gaming. I was considering getting a prebuilt pc for better specs but I'm leaning more towards a good laptop now. I'm looking at the Acer Swift 3 ryzen 7 at $679, what do you think? Should I invest more and go with a better spec one?
I'd suggest something like surfshark vpn tbh, pretty cheap for a multi year subscription. I think I paid like 50 bucks for 2 years. I've gone through a lot of VPNs though over the years and if you want absolute speed, ExpressVPN is pretty much up there - but I went with surfshark for value. I mostly use VPNs though as I travel to china for personal and business reasons frequently.
If it's not covered under an accident prevention plan? The screen is usually fairly simple to replace. A combination of a replacement screen from amazon ($59.71) and a youtube video telling you how to install it (free) should do it.
A note, those two are for the HP Envy, but there are different models of it. Just check to make sure your specific HP Envy model is listed on the amazon page.
...also, evidently amazon offers a "professional installation" of the screen for $93.72 more if you're iffy about doing it yourself. Again, though, it's fairly simple to do (and there are plenty of detailed videos on how to do it).
I have Hue at home and honestly really missed the ability to turn off the lights from bed. This little device called Switchmate attaches magnetically to the light switch and allows you to control the lights over Bluetooth. It doesn't modify the light switch at all and can be removed. It can also be controlled from the button on the front.
NordVPN isn't all that for torrenting. it still possible, but lacks a feature I would like from PIA (port forwarding). I have used both and i would recommend PIA.
As for getting caught, I doubt it if you set it up right. Unless you become a national threat and get the big guns involved. The only ISP get to see is the amount of data transmitted.
I recommend protonVPN to anyone who is less cyber savvy and just wants a free VPN. It's the only free VPN I trust. I personally use ExpressVPN but I've heard Nord VPN is pretty good as well. Theres also always the option of using your own through a VPS I believe
ehh, i like your point, they do sell dual controls on amazon. i would probably include it in the deal. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LX81U4G/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=A2I13CYHJBBTX9&psc=1. but tbh, i think most student drivers have used, relatively cheap cars so scratching the paint is not big of a deal because it won't change the value much.
Try noise cancelling headphones (the ones designed to wear when shooting guns) with noise canceling ear plugs underneath them. On amazon. The headphones themselves are pretty good.
I have a new carbon copy one from amazon. only thing it is not spiral. I ordered it not knowing if my shop red order would be fulfilled in time, so I have two now. This is the link to see its details: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1930882009/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You might have Seasonal affective depression, which is a real issue in a place as gloomy as fall/winter stony brook

You could try taking vitamin D, or purchasing a daylight lamp from amazon such as this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Circadian-Optics-Therapy-Spectrum-Adjustable/dp/B01IU9MMPI?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_1
I have this kayak from Amazon. It's ~$60 and works pretty well, just annoying to inflate and deflate. Pretty compact though
Stony Brook's internet use to be pretty strict, but now it allows for most games to be downloaded. I know last year it prevented me from downloading StarCraft 2 and certain torrents.
Blizzard games (like WoW) does have this problem and you'll have to download them through a program like Hotspot Shield or offcampus.
According to the class website: http://www3.cs.stonybrook.edu/~rbanerjee/teaching/cse219/index.html The books are Head First Design Patterns (2004) and Head First Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (2006)

I recommend you buy a Brita Filter and fill it with sink water. Keep it stocked in your fridge and it'll be ice cold all season long, baby.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/1634875869 Probability and Statistics For Science and Engineering with Examples in R by Hongshik Ahn This is the AMS 310 textbook, available on Amazon for 60 dollars compared to 71 from SBU bookstore.
Just to add to the points, the Sipser book has been recommended by many if you ever have trouble understanding the required texts. I didn't take the course with Bachmair, but the text has been recommended by his students as well.
Plug a switch like this one into your ethernet port in your room and have both you and your roommate connect to it. No idea how SBU's network set up, but it could work.
This is what we used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0495559725/ref=rental_ya
Edit: I just realized the rent price is waaaay higher than what I paid last year, not sure why. I had rented it for a semester for $17, but it looks like it's charging like $80.
Edit 2: Hold up, I think I just found the ebook. I'll post a link here if I get it.
I think that is the wrong book. The book is "Discrete Mathematics: Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning".
Unless "Discrete Mathematics: Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning" and "Discrete Mathematics: with Applications" are the same.
This is a great beginners board which I bought last year on amazon for 80$. Every experienced longboarder who tried it guessed it cost somewhere around 200$
Learn C/C++ on your own. It is so powerful and good to know if you will ever be doing any high performance code (games, graphics, OS, etc...)
