Did you actually try going to the website? http://slither.io - can also just click 'play now' on the right.
But yes, it's free.
To get extra skins (as well as the option to choose your own skin), click "share on Facebook" or "share on Twitter" on the game's splash screen. I don't believe you actually have to go through with the share; I'm pretty sure you can just click the link then back out of it.
Mobile.. 4g.. find a better carrier or park under a cell tower. Wifi.. make sure every other device on your network is switched off especially when you run slither the first time and get the splash screen.
Online is allways slower than AI. It has to send/recieve to the server where slither is hosted compared to AI which is on your device.
Find your local server here. (Start a game; check the names then find in server list.)
Note the ip address top line. Ip is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:port#.
Use a tool such as fing
Ping the ip address both 4g & wifi. No need for port #.
Ping <30ms Excellent you should be winning often.
Ping 30-36 ms Good allows reasonable play you wont kill everyone but still fun.
Ping > 36 ms Poor. Noticeable lag. You think you should win then bam your dead. Fix stuff mentioned above or find another game.
Another good test is to try the server at an ungodly hour like 4am; Your carrier and slither server will be as good as it gets.
I find my carrier peak times between 3:30pm and 9pm sometimes its just not worth playing especially if my house mate is watching youtube vids or netflix.
Was just about to post a quick screenshot of this too. Been playing this for a week or two now and it's only just popped up tonight. Looks like a "K", if that means anything? And found whatever this is http://slither.io/s/kwk6.png
Okay, kind of figured out how to get it. I'm using Chrome. F12 and ctrl+f for KWK and it highlighted one line that I clicked on, and it changed my pattern to it. Still no idea what it is, new secret skin?
You need to download Node.JS from https://nodejs.org/ . Once you've installed it search for Node.js command prompt. You should only find one. Once you have that open go to https://github.com/RowanHarley/Slither-Server/Releases and download the latest version. Once you have downloaded it extract it then type cd "C:\Users\Your-Username\Downloads\Slither-Server-0.0.51\" into the Node.js command prompt you opened earlier. Next type npm install into the command prompt and then npm start and your server should be up and running! Go to slither.io and hold Ctrl + Shift + J
to open the console. Type forceServer("localhost", 8080); to connect to your server. Sorry for such a long post. Didn't know how much info you wanted!
That's the one I did! Use any custom image you'd like!
You can definitely upload flv files to youtube. So that conversion step is not even necessary. (Though no quality is lost if you use a lossless converter like in the video, since it only alters the container, not the actual video stream)
I use OBS too and it works great for me.
This is a platform independent guide for the conversion.
I used JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler to look through the APK, and Visual Studio Code for the regular PC slither JavaScript.
On PC, you can easily test for yourself if adding time to epoch helps or not; I have my own test results starting from the mobile Date.now()+1500 up to Date.now()+3500, but as you mention there are some motivated to argue and I have them on ignore since the last time they did so.
Use a Pi-hole or similar DNS based ad-blocker, it'll do what you request for desktop and mobile (wired and wireless) clients when configured to serve your entire network. Just remember, doing so is considered ‘service-stealing’ by some.
I call it Cobrinha Puta because honestly there's no way you can get 70000 without some sort of pathetic cheating hack. Plus imagine how desperate this snake is to get to the top of the leaderboard when everyone else isn't even close. I show no respect players like that. It is absurd.
Not sure if this has a server choice hack. His other video has a hack of the actual Slither apk.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Slitherio/comments/kh25a5/is_there_a_zoom_mod_for_android/
Or i hijacked this guys thread comments with my own version with server choice at the bottom. But you will need some basic code knowledge to set your own ips.
https://gameguardian.net/forum/files/file/1866-slitherio-zoom-menu-for-online-mode/?tab=comments
.
I am working on improvement to server choice but hey, its xmas.
For some reason i thought you were a girl, not a guy. Did you give the mobile mod a go yet? Happy bday. Hope your crash bash middle run birthday party bought you many happy dead snake mass returns.
No mod. I'm just on slither.io. I refreshed the page and it's back to normal. I played it for a bit just to see how well I could do. I got up to around 1750 before I got bored and killed myself so that I could play normally.
Hello u/RomanLegate, it appears you tried to put a link in a title, since most users cant click these I have placed it here for you

Just saw your edit. Yes, you're right, raw ICMP versus HTTP does make a difference. For example here's raw ICMP to the main slither game site…
$ fping -c 4 -s slither.io slither.io : [0], 84 bytes, 27.6 ms (27.6 avg, 0% loss) slither.io : [1], 84 bytes, 26.8 ms (27.2 avg, 0% loss) slither.io : [2], 84 bytes, 27.0 ms (27.1 avg, 0% loss) slither.io : [3], 84 bytes, 26.5 ms (27.0 avg, 0% loss)
slither.io : xmt/rcv/%loss = 4/4/0%, min/avg/max = 26.5/27.0/27.6
1 targets 1 alive 0 unreachable 0 unknown addresses
0 timeouts (waiting for response) 4 ICMP Echos sent 4 ICMP Echo Replies received 0 other ICMP received
26.5 ms (min round trip time) 27.0 ms (avg round trip time) 27.6 ms (max round trip time) 3.038 sec (elapsed real time)
Compare that to the actual HTTP response time from the main slither game site…
$ httping -c 4 http://slither.io/ PING slither.io:80 (/): connected to 104.20.23.135:80 (435 bytes), seq=0 time= 76.02 ms connected to 104.20.23.135:80 (294 bytes), seq=1 time= 70.40 ms connected to 104.20.23.135:80 (298 bytes), seq=2 time= 71.89 ms connected to 104.20.23.135:80 (294 bytes), seq=3 time= 67.25 ms --- http://slither.io/ ping statistics --- 4 connects, 4 ok, 0.00% failed, time 4287ms round-trip min/avg/max = 67.3/71.4/76.0 ms
Thanks, it's always important to set appropriate expectations… Otherwise the hate mail rolls in.
If you use a popular|common distro, squid is available from most repositories as-is. On an rpm & systemd based system, you can have a test bed up and running very quickly (less than five minutes) with the above config changes and the following two commands…
# dnf -y install squid # systemctl start squid
Macintosh probably has squid directly available too, or if not, via homebrew. As for Windows? It might be easiest just to run a virtual machine with a minimal install of a popular Linux distro, or a ready-made router appliance, like IPFIRE, which makes squid available with a web-based UI to manage it.
[SOLUTION]
I've never had it tell me to install any browsers.
I believe those are just tricky ads, on the side column of the games site page.
What's a host file, are you referring to my DNS?
I was able to play it once a couple days ago, on a browser that user: Ocupi, from the live-tech-chat room told me to download and try it.
the browser was:
https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/google_chrome_portable
It worked, but shortly after playing a round or so, and closing that browser, I tried to open it and play again, but the site wouldn't load completely, and the play button simply didnt run the game.
EDIT:
I'm at work now, and the slither.io site is loading completely.
(I'm not getting the loading progress spin wheel animation)
so at home, it never stops with that loading wheel.
EDIT2:
I went ahead and used Firefox at work, and downloaded the Slitherio mods, zoom Extension.
I opened the game that way, and it runs great.
I'm not sure where or what to do at home now. :(
EDIT3:
I am home now, and I have another desktop PC right next to my "problem" PC.
Both wired to the router, and this other PC connect just fine to slither.io.
My Problem PC continues to try to load the page completely. It looks like it's fully loaded, but I know it's not, because the laoding wheel is spinning on the browser tab.
see here: https://imgur.com/a/bawZX4v
EDIT4:
FIXED!!!
I opened CMD (Run as Administrator)
Typed in 2 different commands:
1st Cmd is : ipconfig /flushdns & then hit enter key.
2nd Cmd is : netsh winsock reset
Then Rebooted.

Jormundgandr was a runaway 1st when I spawned earlier today, and about 60K when NYCJaacks burst onto the scene 35 minutes later, along with fellow mop-up reliever Wer, who was running interference. The job these guys do is appreciated when I'm not in 1st; poor Jormund had only 8 minutes left to live. Only regret is I was totally gonna wrap him myself and shatter my all-time record catch of 33K, I wish. The death occurs off-screen, and Jaacks himself dies moments later; presumably he had done what he came to do and it was time to move on, even while he was close to 1st place.
So glad you asked, because it's possible to ball up just for the heck of it. But this was completely legitimate, in the flow of a game that I was trying my hardest to win. It was crazy-busy in the center, and my oversized body kept getting more and more compromised while I tried to find an exit or a way to extend. I got trapped by a 3K when I was 14K; then it blew and I was re-trapped by a 4K when I was up to 16K. I was finally brought to justice after that second one blew, by the 1K to my 17K.
Buffering is excruciating, but advance in small chunks and come 43:35 you may find yourself duly compensated:
That's the one I chose! Not the cheapest of the ones I found, but it had excellent reviews and I still think 12 bucks is a steal! I just screenshotted some blank hexagons on my phone, and from what I can tell the quality is great! Can't wait to play on it.
Rubber tip? The bigger it is, the more it drags. Mine is slippery since its so small, 0.18in wide. Wish it had just a little drag to feel more stable. 0.18in is the smallest that will still track consistently on most smartphones. I ordered this set for the tips, $7-
https://www.amazon.com/Bargains-Depot-Stylus-Screen-Tips-Black/dp/B00CPQJFFS
You can google "replacement stylo pen". They go for $7 as well. The rubber fits onto the tip without glue or anything, never comes off. I have no idea where I got the interchangeable screwdriver handle, but it makes a big difference to have that grip, and keep my hand away from the screen view, but even without the handle, this stylus solution works out better than anything else, even than using a mouse.
I really like using it for Plants vs Zombies too. I tried several different kinds of stylus, they all had varying degree of tracking error, this is the only one that's never given me any error, double tab works flawlessly.
The only issue is that you can't apply the rubber tip by manually pulling it onto the stylus tip like a condom, cuz it'll make the rubber tip too pointy and the screen will start having issues tracking it. Thankfully, unless I purposely manually do this, it never does this on its own. I just press the stylus into the tip against a flat surface instead, and it stays put.
