Actually, I almost never bottom water. I didn’t notice a difference. I do use a squirt bottle to water. It’s kept under a grow light from 06:00am to 08:00pm and I fertilized randomly using a succulent fertilizer, but I recently started using Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro which appears to have trigger more blooms but that could be coincidence.
Edit: I think what helped the most was starting the plant very compact with rooted props. My mother plant was never this full, but back in January I took 30 single node cuttings and this plant is probably 20 of them.
About once every other month. I add liquid succulent food to its water while bottom watering. Here’s what I’ve been using for the past year Miracle-Gro Succulent Plant Food, 8 oz., For Succulents including Cacti, Jade, And Aloe, 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082BP86KS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_yMj.Fb9MKSVXR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I use these! Bc they’re LEDs and not industrial grow lights, I keep them pretty close to my plants depending on their light needs - as close as 1-2 inches for plants that need lots of full sun.
Thank you so much! Thank you!! Yes IN THE PLANTER! I have 2 of these and both plants they are in are flourishing! It has a telescoping rod so it can move pretty far up and down. Works great! Built in timer. And I just now bought another one because of the amazon deal when I looked it up for you! 😆 Umbrella Grow Light
The soil may have been holding too much moisture. Fungus gnats are the worst! This is what I use now to get rid of them! Ecological Labs AEL20036 Microbe Lift Mosquito Control Aquarium Treatment, 2-Ounce https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B007UTE55A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WQQEHMWVXJKD8X9TV1VD
Oh you know, just the usual neglect it under a cheap grow light and water it when I remember. Maybe every 2 weeks or so?
I am shocked it is doing this well. I had heard they were notoriously finicky plants
Oh you know, just the usual neglect it under a cheap grow light and water it when I remember (roughly every 10-14 days maybe?)
Honestly I am shocked it’s doing as well as it is because I had heard they were notoriously finicky. Good luck with yours!!
Add some grow lights.

I got some of these for plants I have in hanging pots because I felt like they look great hanging above the plant. I used monofilament line (fishing line) to hang them so they look like the float above the plant like a halo. I love the way it looks
Here's the link to the product that I purchased and that the review came from. It's expensive but it's better than throwing out all of my plants. You'd definitely need to take your plants outside somewhere to spray this on them if you decide to go this route. There's a few other types of rapid acting miticides around the same price that are recommended by professionals.

I’m also dealing with a spider mite infestation right now :( I wiped down all my leaves with alcohol (they were on my cebu blue and neon pothos plants- not sure how you would wipe down your dolphins) when I first spotted the mites, then I sprayed the plants down with fungicide 3 because it kills spider mites. I haven’t seen any new bugs or webbing in a little over a week, so my fingers are crossed that it worked!
It’s probably around every other week maybe? Honestly I don’t pay close attention. I absolutely swear by these little things which measure moisture. They turn white when they need water and blue when they don’t. The little paper inside them lasts about a year and there are refills. I use these in all my plants (of which I have 30-40 or so), including everything from succulents to tropicals. It takes away uncertainty. I’ve never killed a plant from watering issues.
I have several plants under it on a timer for 10 or so hours a day.
I have this grow light. I like it because it’s a white light and fits in regular lamps - so it doesn’t look like a grow light!
Hmm. They have a shallow root system so they don’t need a huge pot. Most of these stringed plants want fast draining substrate. I keep most of them in a unglazed clay or terra cotta pot (porous, so water evaporates faster) and bottom water them. They can be finicky about water in their leaves. (There is disagreement on this Reddit about bottom v top watering. This is just my approach.) I don’t fertilize these too much. (Often times manufacturers recommendations are too concentrated or too frequent.)
Hope that helps!

This one works well and you can put it in a standard lamp. I have two that preside over an aloe, and over my strings of coins, bananas, dolphins and pearls. Remove it and buy cinnamon oil! I like it better than powder because it doesn’t leave a residue. Fill a spray bottle of water with water and add a few drops of cinnamon oil. Or just pour it on top. It is very potent so a little goes a long way!
I got this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NCVWFUE/ so 15 watts.
It is currently like 6 inches away from my string of hearts. brb while i go move them much further away...haha....crap.....

Update: I put the SOT in my little grow house for humidity and it has an extra inch and a half on the new growth already (3 days later). I can't believe it, you were bang on! Thanks so much for the tip, I can't wait to see them continue to progress!
Also want to bump u/hirayamanawari32's question - if I have a direct grow light on it with the additional humidity will that cause rot? (I don't have a super intense grow light, just this simple one.)

I keep it on for 12 hours a day, I also have a small adjustable shelf that allows me to have the lights close in some areas like my succulents and further away for my normal house plants. I really have no complaints about the lights, they are budget friendly, never get to hot even after being on for 12 hours a day and I haven’t had any plants burn from them. Also bring out the color more in my VSOH and VSOP. The lights are purple but you can find some that are white, The color of the lights doesn’t change anything with the plants.

I actually found this. Just ordered it, it has good reviews and looks perfect for what I want to use it for.
this is the grow light i have it was a little pricier for my budget, but it lights up my whole ikea cabinet full of plants so i’m very happy with it. it’s sold on the home depot website too, but i know it’s more expensive there!
They’re from Amazon! Best part... they have drainage holes!
