Tame Impala production basics: Compress your drums to holy hell, then add generous saturation. Compress your bass, go DI. learn to use flanger, phaser, delay, reverb properly. get some vintage sounding synths or soft synths.
SATURATE EVERYTHING.
Here are some posted by /u/jacobtenor a few months ago:
maybe it's the same ones they have on ezdrummer from vintage ludwig and gretsch kits and you've got the samples without knowing about this! I just got ez drummer a month ago, and I'm amazed by how you can get really cool results with it. check it out this loop I did compared to a real kit that my reddit mate ricky (/u/yadingus_) had recorded for me! https://clyp.it/pm42govo first one is ez drummer then the real kit. I tuned the virtual kit a bit different from ricky's kit on this one, I had another audio where I had used the same/close tunning from ricky's kit too, but I couldn't find it here right now, I could do it again some other day then show you if you want.
Here’s a “link” on amazon. I’m not sure how to share an actual link from the amazon app from my phone. Link
It was like $60. However it says currently unavailable. But if you’re wanting one here’s where I got it

Whut!? Come on that's like combining chicken and waffles... two of my favorite things. It would never work. oh wait...
EDIT: btw.. props on remembering to use ALL CAPS when you spelled the man's name.

Hmm. Well, I think there are a few synth sounds going on all over the song. They need 3-4 keyboards to even do it live. :)
I think the main thing is just a pad-like sound with a chorus effect on it. By default he "retro" and "vintage" preset blocks have some pad sounds on the 7th/8th spots in memory that would be cool spots to jump from - and then one of the mod effects you can add is a chorus.
I actually started messing with mine as I was typing. This is not far from the factory preset in A68, but I changed the effect to chorus, set the chorus LFO to ~40, and the depth to ~90, and it sounds like this
For the "all this running around" parts, I think it's actually some kind of sampler based on Kev's voice though, so that might be a bit harder to emulate - you could probably get away with a darker sort of pad sound though.
Ninja edit: listening to the clip again, I could probably even stand to turn the LFO down a bit more, the wobble probably doesn't need to be that aggressive

I'm sure there is a copy or two on ebay as Tame vinyl sells like hotcakes.

This is what I have. Obviously really expensive but it’s the Apple of consumer lasers as far as being easy to use. The software built for it is very user friendly.

had a really hard time finding A2 frames. This is unfortunately from Amazon, but I'm sure they have their own store. I wanted to get a real frame and not aluminum, but it actually looks pretty good in person. The one part I didn't love is that it has an odd hanging system. The wood part snaps up and there's framing inside and you screw from there. Not a huge deal just no hooks or anything on the back.
The guy who records King Gizzard’s sets (and formerly Grateful Dead) recommended me this if you have an iPhone https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010W6W8OW/ref=cm_sw_r_api_i_E32VZ0WM8FT7H7GJ8S0P_0?psc=1 Might need to be discreet about it, don’t want security hassling you
The smaller one which is the Rushium phase 2, I got the frame from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006WAYRTM?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details&th=1
As for the stretched poster from phase 1, I believe I got a 25 1/2 x 19 1/2 frame. The dimensions on that one were weird.
This leg's posters are A2 size, standard in Europe/Australia, but a weird size to find a fit for in America sadly... I ordered a pair of these from Amazon for my Asheville posters
I gotchu! I measured the poster and found a custom frame from Amazon. I got the 16x23 one, but it ended up being a tad too small. This 17x23 frame should do the trick tho :)
I was right on the side of the stage in Philly by the guitar tech. All of a sudden there's a line of eight people holding trash bags. Security opens the gates and they all march from the side of the stage down the front, each person stopping at a confetti blower. They start to dump their trash bags into the blowers to prime them... then when the moment hits and the blowers kick on I can see that they're all still stuffing confetti into the blower inlet from the trash bag. Once the confetti deployment was complete they all marched back to the side of the stage.
They did this two more times. The last time they were holding two bags of confetti.
So:
8 Blowers
2 deployments of 1 trash bag
1 deployment of 2 trash bags
8*(2*1)*(1*2) = 32 trash bags of confetti for one show
This is a one-pound package of confetti similar to what has been used on tour. I'm not sure how many of those could fit into a trash bag; maybe five? The trash bags looked to be fluffy, not crammed full of stacks of neatly arranged confetti.
So, if it's five pounds of confetti per bag, that's 160 pounds per show.
How many shows have included the confetti cannons?
I know that on Amazon.com it’s like 24 bucks, just thought it was funny lol
The core idea of the animation is mapping an audio signal onto an essentially 2d circle. Technically the record is 3D but it's easy enough to just conceptualize it as a 2d circle, with a small hole in the middle. So, at any given moment in the song, you split up the audio into a bunch of different frequencies and calculate the intensities of those respective frequencies. Then, for all points on the top of the record, you move them up or down a bit according to an intensity of a particular freqeuncy band in the audio. The way you choose which frequency intensity to use is by the point's distance from the origin of the circle. This naturally leads to a pleasing radial symmetry, given that all rings on a circle share the same distance to the middle, so they will move up and down by the same strength. At this point, the record has been deformed and looks like this.

Finally, once you have calculated all the displacements of the entire record, you color the surface of the record according to the height of the displacment, with pink being the highest intensity and red being the lowest. This step is what really makes the animation pop. You can easily change the color palette as well, as shown in the middle when the palette temporarily changes to a rainbow one. The rest of the animation is pretty straightforward modelling and camerawork movement in Blender (a free and open source 3D modelling software!!). Although tbh, I think modelling the turntable took longer than making the animation haha.

Sorry if that didn't make sense I don't think I did the best job of explaining. I can also share the blendfile to understand better and others can change this video or make their own music videos too!

Hey if any of you want to buy this ridiculously expensive stock footage, I'll recreate the cover for you in video form.
Honestly don't, but next time any of you travel by the area, take some video for me. Plus it would be way better if the video was taken a little earlier.
Sure, it looks like it's actually super-easy. Audacity (which is free and open-source) has "Change Speed" and "Change Tempo" options. Change Speed affects both speed and pitch, Change Tempo affects the speed but tries to normalize the pitch.
Back in like...2001, I seem to recall "Change Tempo" making it kind of glitchy, but I think it sounds fine now. So I increased the speed by the same amount you used, 15% and put it on clyp here.
Honestly, I don't think it sounds that different, it just goes by a bit faster. In the case of CIAM and YIC, I don't feel like the instrumental parts seem that different, except the bass is suddenly way more intense. :)
Check out Master-classes Songwriting 101 about what constitutes a chorus 👆
Excerpt: "The chorus typically also contains the hook—the catchiest part of the song. Choruses should serve as the climax to the song."
.. . . Oh and in rap songs by repeating that single word, that creates a climax. "Gucci gang, Gucci gang, Gucci gang". That's a chorus because it has a climax and it's a Staple part of the song.
I like the structure of these lyrics. Theyre different because "let it hapun" is like a build up at the end of each verse going into the chorus which starts with "All this running around". Also, keep in mind I found the following chords on a piano, so open guitar chords might sound out of order.
I think it may be more simple than you're making it. It sounds alright if you do A-F#m-G# and just repeat those 3 chords for the verses in 4/4 with one chord at the beginning of each measure. The minor-to-major sound that you were wanting comes from the G# back to A transition.
For the Chorus (switches key from E to F#m) I tentatively have D#m-B-C#-C# (same timing as before, but with 4 measures instead of 3). Im not too sure about the last C#; it sounds OK but I think he changes a little something up.
It definitely needs more listening - its hard to hear exactly what hes doing through the filters etc sometimes.
Oh I love the bass. The highs are where I get problems. The sound this tour was ungodly good. I’ve never been to a stadium show with this clarity.
I used these, but they are definitely masking the mids and treble, need to get me a better pair High Fidelity Concert Earplugs, MUDEELA Noise Reduction Music Earplugs for Concerts, Musicians, Motorcycle, 23db Hearing Protection Earplugs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K2T3XRX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_3SMQ171FVD0HD6TYSFRY

Got me looking too.
Yeah electric is pretty much the only way to go unless you can fully sound proof a room.
I'd say the 'industry standard' for e-drums are the Roland V-drums series but they cost a hell of a lot, especially for the full size kits.
I've taken a look on amazon and this looks like a Pretty good deal (I'm from the uk so apologies if you have to find it on your own amazon). It's a much better than the majority of kits at that price range because it's much closer to a full size acoustic kit layout wise than many of the other options. If you drop any lower than that price mark you'll start getting into kits that are not representative of real drum placements so you may find it harder to play on an acoustic kit if you ever get the chance because your muscle memory will be significantly different.
If you're not bothered about any of that and just want something to play for cheap that is not as accurate go ahead! Personally I find fills much harder when playing on one of the smaller scale kits (Probably due to the muscle memory thing I mentioned). You'll still have something to hit, play and get the basics down on and fi you decide you want a better model you can always sell and upgrade.
Hope that's helped but if you have anymore questions feel free to ask!
Yeah! Here it is projector
If you look over on Japan's Amazon, it lists the release date as 2016/11/25, my guess is that it's just being delayed week by week at this point...
There’s only one left in stock! But I got it here on Amazon. It comes with 2 posters.

Did you have to do anything in the setting to get it to work? I'm using my VPN right now from the US to AUS and it's not showing on Spotify. Im using NordVPN and in the past its worked great, never tried it for spotify tho.
I created a new spotify free account to be able to use NordVPN on my phone. When I tried first with my paid account (USA payment info), the album would appear but I couldn't play the songs that weren't released as singles.

Was listening to The Slow Rush in full and was focusing on the way the drums were mixed throughout. Your comment literally put my thoughts into words lol.
Do you think I can get away with recording off of one mic to record samples of my live kit?
Also, would a controller like this one be good for programming?: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B075FGSZLC/?coliid=I22YY9ILB5EPSB&colid=11YMOD3NHODW7&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Just made the change and now my Origin of Muse set sounds as it should, not in a major key lol. Thanks a ton! Not sure why but that one sounded the most off of all my records and I couldn’t even play it.
Here’s the amazon link to the needle I installed, definitely less noisy than the OEM one.
If it’s a pre-order I will always order from the artists’ website, but any other vinyl I’ll get from Amazon. I went to the record store a few times and have only ever found The 1975 CDs. They never have Tame, Flume, Odesza, or any other artist I like lol. I also just collect them for display and rarely ever sell them.
Check out these wall mount displays !

I've been using these for about 6 months now. They sound pretty great to me, especially for their price. I have never used really nice, expensive headphones so I don't know how these stack up, but they are the best that I have used.
