If you loved test drive unlimited 1 + 2 then yes, absolutely buy it, Ivory Tower is mostly made up of devs from Eden games and in many ways The Crew can be thought of as TDU3 (although the car physics are thankfully much improved over TDU) and brings back the 'hardcore' driver assist mode for use with steering wheels, complete with a rather extensive settings menu for fine tuning whatever wheel you use.
Yes, if you blast through the story missions as fast as possible you can find yourself with not much to do other than faction missions or PvP to earn money to buy and do up cars (however the game is easier if you spend some time upgrading your cars before jumping into the next mission). But if you loved the free roaming aspect of TDU then The Crew has got you covered, the map is pretty great, a decent size with all kinds of terrain and vistas to seek out and explore, all of it based on real life things of course, being a scaled down USA.
It should run on your PC (although knowing specs would be more definitive, try testing your PC here: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri)
Settings I'm using now:
(Source: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/718281-the-crew/70523277)
I play on PC with an Xbox 360 controller.
With these settings I gained sharpness in steering, I actually get direct steering response when I turn the analog stick. This makes it possible to make small corrections and weave through traffic, instead of crashing in to it. You do lose a lot of driftability while gaining stability. In the future I want to fine tune so that I keep the stability but if I throw the car around I can still do some drifting.
Edit:
After more testing:
you can get it really cheap on epic games store. you get 10usd off if you buy something that costs more than 15 usd. I just bought crew 2 gold edition for just 13 usd. They also giveaway a free game every week

This question has been asked here before. You might be able to buy CAU on Steam and then press the CD-key button to copy and paste the key into Uplay, but no guarantees. And I'm not even sure if Steam will let you buy CAU in the first place if you don't also own The Crew on Steam, since the store page says "This content requires the base game The Crew™ on Steam in order to play."
Maybe you can ask Ubi support if this works or not.
Why can't you use Paypal? Just get a Paypal account and transfer the money to it and then make the payment.
Anyways, most other retailers sell Uplay keys instead of Steam keys for Ubi games, so you can for example use GreenManGaming since they accept PaysafeCard: https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/the-crew-calling-all-units/
I had this exact same problem and I think I fixed it by updating DS4Windows. Are you using the original DS4W by Jays2Kings? Because the latest version is almost 2 years old. Github user Ryochan7 is maintaining an up-to-date fork (latest update was 6 days ago), try that.
IF YOU ARE NOT FROM A CANADIAN OR AMERICAN IP
Never fear! I am from the UK and I have managed to get a key using this proxy:
I tried other web proxies such as HideMyAss but they didn't let me log in. This is the only one I had success with, but in case you are weary about you account security, I'd suggest you change the password after.
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/718281-the-crew/70745551?page=1 - there's a "steering linearity" setting and people claim that at the left end of the slider it's more like forza, at the right end more like NFS. Never played Forza so I can't compare but playing with a ps3 controller on PC the steering is much more responsive with that slider pushed to the right of center... and that's where i prefer it because there is a sort of delayed reaction between my stick movement and wheels turning on the left end of the slider. Hard for me to explain i guess but i'd rather have super responsive steering and have to give the stick tiny movements at high speed than to feel like there's a delay even when i mash the stick left or right.
There's also the 'steering speed factor' setting that reduces how far the wheels will turn at higher speeds going by what I can see testing in the garage/hq. I think anyone should be able to get this game to handle just how they like or close enough and get used to it.
I have not tried it with a racing wheel... just ps3 controller and i prefer the hardcore (ABS is the only assist there) setting except for circuit class cars that often suffer from ridiculous wheelspin at almost any speed in any gear. Would be nice if I could turn on traction control without the steering assists while using a stick instead of wheel/pedals :/
Yea, ok well lemme know then. My timezone is GMT +8. Oh and how easy is it to finish in the required 1st, 2nd or 3rd place? Dun wanna play 3 hours for nth haha.
After checking this out, it may be your graphics card, I'm not actually that good at this sort of stuff, but, if you go to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri and download a program, it will tell you if your system is capable of running it, you might find something.
Watch some videos and get a sense for the game so you can make your own decision as to how much you may like it. Everyone has different tastes. Like I'd tell you to pass and buy the first game instead, where someone else may tell you to buy it becasue they love the game.
As for the different editions:

I use a thrustmaster T300 Ferrari Edition, it’s the setup some f1 drivers use to practice on. Mine is paired with a red bull seat and mounts for the t300 with a f1 style seat position. So if I were you, I’d get my hands on a thrust master T300 and with some minor adjustments I’m the crew 2 steering settings, it will work perfectly. The t300 also has a clutch pedal, so if you want to get a h shifter also, you can. And if you want to use the “flappy paddles” in the settings select the gear preferences to manual and on the wheel settings page, make it have wheel and h shifter. This way if you can use the paddles or a gearbox if you purchase it. Here is the T300 Ferrari Edition I have, here’s an Amazon link for it: https://www.amazon.fr/ThrustMaster-Ferrari-Integral-Alcantara-Réplique/dp/B014UOF0S8
Minimum requirements are as follows:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.5 GHz / AMD Athlon II X4 620 @ 2.6 GHz or better
RAM: 4GB
OS: Windows 7 and up, as long as it's 64-bit. If he needs a 64-bit OS key, go here and search for "Windows 7" or "Windows 8.1" MAKE SURE YOU GET A 64 BIT COPY
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 or AMD Radeon HD 4870 (512MB VRAM with Shader Model 4.0 or higher)
So, he might be able to do it, but he will need a dedicated graphics card if he doesn't have one already.
I suspect the internet connection could be an issue that affects your gameplay since the game only runs so long as you're connected to the internet
This site here can tell you how well you will generally run online-only games
http://www.cjs-cdkeys.com/search.php?search_query=the+crew&x=0&y=0 35 USD here :D and this game isnt finished, and have some problems but the foundation is realy good. So give a month or two, and I think this game has a realy bright future. Thats why I bought the game, to suport the work they are doing.
You are using DS4Windows right? At the bottom does it say you are in exclusive mode (or does it have an error in red font)? Do you have "Use Dinput only" checked (you shouldn't) in the profile settings?
It does not look like you can change it. https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Crew#Input_settings You can change steering sensitivity in the controls page if you're steering with the mouse, but acceleration might not be changelable.
Are you steering with a mouse? That's hardcore!
I guess you are aware of this, but if not i just wanted to make sure.
But you can get 20% off in the Uplay store with 100 of the Ubisoft points or what they are called.
It is also on sale on greenmangaming, which gives you it for kinda the same price with the 20% Uplay points deal. Link: https://www.greenmangaming.com/search/the%20crew%202

I used FlyVPN and I am playing, it's free. Give it a go.
Remember, you only need the VPN to start the game, and then you can quit your VPN (The Crew will say something like Connection lost and you just press OK and then you get to the start menu and can press "Continue")
Yeah, I am planning on purchasing this cooler for my laptop, lets hope it works out well!
I notice that i can run the game at medium settings with it performing well, and it doesn't use up a ton of my CPU, its just that the game causes my CPU to overheat at the same time. I am also planning on getting something like this in an attempt to cool down my laptop.
You never buy Live directly from Microsoft. It's always way more expensive than it needs to be. Even Amazon has the physical card somewhat cheaper than that.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EQNP8F4/ref=twister_B000N5Z2L4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Pay attention to /r/consoledeals. You'll see deals for Live in no time. My advice? When a deal pops up, double down; Live codes always stack.
install instructions are the top comment on amazon.
If you want to use a ps3 controller you need to sync it with a usb cable then get a bluetooth wireless dongle then run a program called better ds3. It emulates the ps3 controller as an xbox. Setup is pretty straight forward
I personally use these. They work great and are far cheaper in price than those skullcandies. It even has vibrations, deep bass, and 5.1 surround - a steal of a deal if you ask me.
