PLEASE, going forward, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get a dashcam. Make sure it has low light capabilities and HD recording. doesnt need to be anything fancy. you can get a fancy one if you chose, but you dont need to.
THIS IS THE ONE I HAVE and it works AMAZING.
I had someone hit me and it made it so easy to get their insurance to pay for everything. even if you just tell them that you have a dashcam and not send them the footage, they will still pony up.
I am glad you are safe, and hopefully it doesnt take a toll on your insurance.

Unfortunately, I haven't got any with the new wheels on there. I'm trying to find the time to take a nice shot at a decent location. When I do take one, it'll be up on my Instagram. Here's one from the shop that did the work though. https://www.instagram.com/p/9eWZf_GSXJ/
I used this on my 2005 Camry. It's a FM transmitter, you set the transmitter to a station that is just static and then you connect your phone over bluetooth and it plays on that empty station. The only bad thing about it is that it's susceptible to static, but it's cheap.
Actually looks like a tough swap. A quick Google led me to this. Carplay in Yaris. Search the reviews for Yaris because apparently the head unit is Mazda made. You can have the Mazda dealer update to the correct firmware and get CarPlay with this kit.

I bought the Bosal cat back replacement off Amazon for my T (same year and model as yours). I cut the old one off and hung the Bosal one on the same stock hangers. The flange from the cat pipe was rusted beyond the point of usability so I took it to a nearby exhaust and the guy wielded the two together with a short 6" connector pipe. Cost me $25. I dont know if I really need to have it running when I connect, but I use Llama to auto-start stuff, entune, when it see my cars bluetooth.
On the head unit in the car, I used to use Pandora but now I use Google Music from my phone. I know Pandora is a "supported" app for entune, but with Google Music essential the phone is playing a "local playlist" so the car/entune just thinks it is playing from your phone. With Pandora the head unit displays "Pandora" with Google Music, is displays "Bluetooth Audio".
It tries to make your head unit "smart" by displaying some information from select services on your head unit. In reality it's mostly useless. You need to have the entune app running on your phone which contains the available services. Pandora may be the only useful service unless you think looking at stock prices or attempting to buy movie tickets on a slow laggy interface is fun. The whole thing is rather buggy and slow and I end up playing pandora natively on my phone anyway.
Google maps is not supported.
You can see which ones are available in the pictures here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tweddle.toyota.entune&hl=en
I'd get the code read first before making any decisions - could be something simple. There are OBDII readers on amazon for around 10-15 bucks that pair to your phone that will let you read codes and engine information. If you have Android there is the app Torque. Here is an example BT OBDII dongle for an Android device.
Yeah, that tool kinda sucks haha. Do you have an android phone? You could get a cheap(~$10 on amazon) ELM327 clone(this is the one I purchased which was a little more expensive) and use the app Torque to read live data. Codes with no data doesn't give you much to go on.
Tell her to grab one of these. I use it and you don't have to physically plug in your phone anymore.

This this, it's meant to trick the car into thinking you're wearing your seat belt. Just remember to actually wear your seat belt when on the road because the air bags react differently when it thinks you're wearing your seat belt vs when it detects you aren't wearing one.
The iPhone 12 and onwards require a 20W power source to charge properly. The older iPhones (and most of the car chargers) are only setup for 5W. I think the cig outlets on the truck are good for 100W output.
Get a 20W USB car charger like This and it should work fine.
It was on https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SJZ3BNB/ but another person mentioned this brand also it’s cheaper but never bought from them https://teyes.com/products/teyes-cc3-for-toyota-highlander-3-xu50-2013-2018-car-radio-multimedia-video-player-navigation-stereo-no-2din-2-din-dvd?_pos=2&_sid=f08fbb3f8&_ss=r
The current one I'm trying out throws up a reflection on the windshield... not as bad as the sticky dash, but noticeable unless I wear polarized shades.
The cheap stuff also has fewer detergents and will lead to deposits in the engine that would not occur if you use a quality gasoline.
Toyota supports a quality standard for gasoline called "Top Tier" which is a new(ish) trademarked term the auto and oil industry came up with to denote gasoline which meets higher detergent standards.
And yes, it is not a coincidence that Mobil and Sunoco are in the "Top Tier" program, meaning all their gasolines, sold at every station and at every octane, meet the higher detergent standards. I run Shell only, which some consider the best gas available... it is more expensive but they take the quality of their gasoline very seriously.
More info:
http://www.consumerreports.org/car-maintenance/study-shows-top-tier-gasoline-worth-extra-price/
(that article does not have Sunoco on the list... they have just recently been certified as Top Tier, though)
I've never seen anyone use them on the inside, but couldn't you use the plastics blacking cerakote on the dash?

You would probably have trouble color matching, might end up having to do the entire interior.
When you apply the brakes the 3rd brake light blinks repeatedly. They call it a safety feature. Either way its a $10 amazon mod.

Imma buy one. My 12v outlet doesn't work so I can't use the usual type of FM-transmitter. Thanks a bunch if this works
Yeah I don’t recommend those at all. Just like what happened to you, it breaks off the top lobes.
I use the snapon/bluepoint version of this
Grabs onto the bottom lips. Sometimes gets stuck on it, but the more you use it, the better it works.
The metal housing is much better than the plastic for sure 👍
I use the Street Guardian in my Camry. When you get your Rav 4 go get the windows tinted with ceramic tint, including the front windshield. Ceramic tint rejects heat more effectively than traditional tint and they make clear tint for the front windshield. My Camry has an all black interior and there was a noticeable improvement in how hot it was in the car after getting off work.
It’s just this one I have a foam Cannon with it but isn’t as thick as a gas powered one would Produce.

Based on what I read on the website, it doesn't integrate at all with anything, it's a whole separate thing just like if you were to buy one yourself for half the price or more.
Check out /r/Dashcam to get some ideas on which one is best for you and save a ton of money. They make ones that have an app just like the Toyota one where you can wirelessly review and save footage and have a button to manually save clips to keep them from being overwritten.
I have the Street Guardian in my Camry and I paid a car audio shop to hardwire it into the fusebox and to hide the wire behind the trim. All for less than just what the Toyota dashcam itself cost.
Used to have issues with Android Auto constantly disconnecting with the cable I had. I heard good things about the amazon basics cable from a different post on here a while back. Yup. Universal replacement stereos come in 2 sizes - single-din and double-din. If you want one with a screen, you're likely looking at double-din. The standard Toyota stereo is actually double-din just with a curved shape to the front of it - so all you need is a plastic fascia like this one to allow you to slot in a regular double-din unit into that curved space.
Just about anyone who has ever changed a car stereo should be able to fit it for you.
I bought this on on Amazon. Works perfectly for my ‘17 Sienna.

Phone mounts aren't made for specific cars, so just check out reviews and pick the best one. Your phone is likely too big/heavy for your air vent. I don't recommend air vent mounts because it means you can't use the heat unless you keep it on defrost or floor vents only because it will eventually overheat the phone and make it shut down. Also it will eventually break the vent, ask me how I know. haha
I very rarely used the mount and it still broke my vent from the phone being too heavy. I use a magnetic mount that has a 3M adhesive on the back and just position it on a flat piece of the dash where it would put the phone in my line of sight. This is what I use.
2GR-FE. You'll barely have to do anything to hit 200k. I have an '06 Avalon with the same engine and it's marvelous even at 232k. Oil changes every 5k, drain and fill the trans fluid a few times every 80-100k to keep the fluid fresh, they're nearly bulletproof.
By 2010, they may have had the updated the infamous oil line, but replace it immediately if they haven't. The oil line feeds the rear bank of variable timing components and if it fails, the oil pump will drain the sump and run the engine dry. Several engines bit the dust because of this common failure.
https://tinyurl.com/y6gd2hte
For the record, if my '06 Avalon with a similar drivetrain disappeared fromy my garage unexpectedly, I'd walk to the nearest one for sale and drive one home. I love this thing. You'll be happy with that Camry, without question.
Well the code the car is throwing is for the airbag clock spring. And the recall is in relation to that. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/04/toyota-mega-air-bag-recall/index.htm Anyway, I found a dealership a few hours away that can get it in Friday.
Yeah, gonna have to agree here. $7k for a bottom trim is really steep....if it were a GT-S with the same mileage, maybe.
Take a look at this Lexus, little more mileage, a lot more car for the same money.

Just plug into your OBD port and mount anywhere you like
This article from Consumer Reports is from a few years ago, but it should still apply. Automakers are voiding warranties for using E-15. You are obviously far beyond worrying about a warranty, but it sounds like E-15 is pretty rough on engines and fuel systems. I would avoid it.
And if the car doesn’t have an audio in port you can just get an FM transmitter (same awesome brand) Limited-time deal: Anker ROAV SmartCharge F0 Bluetooth FM Transmitter for Car, Audio Adapter and Receiver, Hands-Free Calling, MP3 Car Charger with 2 USB Ports, PowerIQ, and AUX Output (No Dedicated App) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GJ7DHMP/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_dl_73JCA8H9EAMF7G7GBWFJ
I’m a technerd and can definitely afford to put a better stereo in my old Tacoma, but this works so goddamn good I haven’t been able to justify the time or expense. $14… and then for another $15 or so you can get a suction cup phone mount and just use that for your navigation and stuff.
If you want to go haul hog, that sienna is old enough that the stereo should be fairly accessible. Get something off Crutchfield complete with instructions on how to take it out, watch a couple YouTube videos first to make sure it’s feasible. You can get a good set up with wiring and a back up camera for about $400 or less and do it yourself. You might need to buy some wire crimpers, for 25 bucks you can have them pre-wire the harness, the hardest part honestly will be running the back up camera wire.
I have this FM transmitter in my RAV and it works GREAT! Highly recommended.

I have this for my garmin and just plop it on the dash and it stays put.
I've seen phone mounts where it has a long arm since new cars have huge windshields, maybe they have one like that for the garmin if you don't like what I use.
Oh. I did this with my 04 HL. Go to www.crutchfield.com I got a pioneer radio and love it but you do what you want. I got a double din radio for google maps and spotify.
Get the harness and trim kit (usually free or fairly cheap).
Then I bought these to connect the radio to the harness. Note: most of the radios require a parking brake connection if they can play video but I installed a parking brake bypass. There’s tons on Amazon for about 10 bucks. Solder a pioneer bypass into the harness because it’s a lot less hassle than trying to find a parking brake wire.
Then I installed the radio per instructions and ran this usb plug from the USB port in the radio down to one of the heated seat knock outs (passenger side behind gear shift). This won’t work if your vehicle has heated seats.

Good luck!
Here's a reference manual I grabbed years ago. It's kinda a pain to use as you need to cross reference the pictures with the chart to get the model year, but the info is all there.
I spilled meat juice one time all over the back seats and floor, and oh my, the car smelled like a corpse after a few days. What I did to remove the smell was using a pet odor remover, the ones that advertise having enzymes in them, I can't find the exact one that I used, but this one that I found in Amazon seems to be very similar
Nature's Miracle P-5452 3-in-1 Odor Destroyer, Fresh Linen Scent, 24-Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D9AQME/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_AECCEVVESRPM05K52PB3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It won't go away with one application, at least mine didn't, it took about 5 or 6 for the smell to be completely gone. Apply it, let it dry, apply again, and so forth, until you can't smell it anymore. Good luck to you friend!
Looked through the parts as well and came up with this same answer. Probably isn’t something the dealer will keep on-hand so it would wise to call them first and have them order it if they don’t have it.
Could also order one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LVY432B/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8W8DDZ0C7PEYH75ZC5DZ
The touch up pen is kind of like an ink pen you shake it up and press the tip on the chip and it usually flows right in.
This is what they look like.
Yup, you'd be correct about this. There are dongles like this one that allow you to add wireless CP to your vehicle and you'll never have to use a cable again
Yeah, until Toyota adds wireless CarPlay functionality to their vehicles, you'll need to plug it in...
That being said, you can add in wireless CarPlay functionality with this little dongle.
Also, since you have the XLE, you actually will not have any maps built-in to the head unit itself. The only way you can do that is if you get one in the Limited trim, and that will come with built-in maps, but beware that it's only a 3 year trial of them and after 3 years you then will have to pay a whopping $169 every 2 years if you want to keep that active.
That is just ludicrous, so if I were you, just go for that dongle I linked and you'll never have to connect your phone with a cable ever again and you'll always be up to date with your navigation whether you use Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze (which is my preferred one).
Yup, correct.
This is because Toyota still doesn't have an option for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, so therefore, you'll have to plug it in.
However, there is a stupid simple way to make CarPlay in your car or anyone else's wireless with this little dongle called Carlinkit.

Thank you so much for your insight. Could I ask you to please expand on the rubbing compound, orbital polisher, and medium cut compound you mentioned? I genuinely have no clue what these are or what I should get from Amazon. I've ordered this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WVL7YSG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details and it came in yesterday - I'll be applying it later this weekend.
I was also considering getting a dent fixer to see if i can get some of the smaller ones out https://www.amazon.com/GLISTON-Paintless-Dent-Puller-Adjustable/dp/B07SP8Z6WH/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=dent+removal+kit&qid=1628609921&s=automotive&sr=1-4
Thanks for the info regarding painting just the relevant panels - definitely helps out.
Regarding Toyota - if I just do the buyout at the end of the lease, will they still charge me? Or will I be tied to the contract MSRP?
Mate it made my life better.

And i also loves Paradox btw.
A lot of automotive and stand alone battery stores will check your battery for free, the dealership might as well. If it's under warranty just take it to the dealership and let them mess with it. I actually have one of these battery teaters from Amazon, it's cheap and I have a few cars I look after (mine, wife's teenagers') so it just makes it easy for me.
I have the Street Guardian dash cam in my 2017 Camry. I then paid a car audio shop $125 to hardwire it into the fuse box, which means they hid the wire behind the trim pieces and wired it into the fuse box so that it isn't taking up a 12v plug. It's behind the rear view mirror on the passenger side and you can't even tell it's there from the drivers seat or from the front of the car unless you really look.
Go with PIAA. I have had these guys for 3 years now(replaced OE 1 year after purchase) and they work GREAT down here in SoCal. Honestly, even now that they have come to the end of their effective lifespan, they still work great at getting dirt off after spritzing the windshield down. They have started growing micro cracks and the blade will soon start separating from the body.
If you dont mind throwing down a LITTLE extra cash, I can recommend Kimblade. After doing a bit of due dilligence, these seem to outperform PIAA, but they are 60ish dollars for a pair.
Here, next time just use one of these to repair any broken wires. Takes a minute or two and all you need is a heat gun (or a lighter if you’re on the road). I carry a handful of these in my glovebox at all times.
I used that kit for my car, it lasts a long time if you put a good clear coat protection on afterwards. I did mine two years ago and it still looks perfect. I used this.
Interesting. At that price, I'm definitely willing to give these a try even if it's only a small upgrade.
These are supposed to be the best bulbs. They’re not the bitching LED’s we all want, but they’re a budget upgrade for now :
Where have you been looking? Cause the first result on Amazon is one that goes on the headrest stakes for $16.99
Also most of the results for tablet mounts for headrest are of that style. I only saw a few with the kind that wraps around the entire headrest.
A recommendation if you do end up working on it from here on out... get a Fumoto oil drain plug and never have to worry about drain plugs ever again.
I never bought them but I've been keeping my eye on them a bit nicer in price for two front seat covers tbh. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JNQR2XL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BHGG4Q0ZTGFWSB8G2M5M?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
One key thing to mention is that only one of your USB ports will connect to the vehicles head unit. Some of the ports only charge, but one will charge and give you the connection to the head unit to play your music. This port is typically one of the ones located closer to the head unit itself(not in the console). If you have connected your phone to Apple CarPlay, use the same USB.
One alternative is to get a Bluetooth CD player. These seem to be fairly common on Amazon(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089654QDH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_X8NC77BXWZAZ06JXN7AQ ) You could keep the player connected to power in the console, and avoid having the cord plugged into the special USB port(see comments above) all the time. It would result in a cleaner look.
I ordered this part from amazon and the numbers on the bag dont match the picture, so I was wondering if this was a legitimate part. I cant find any information on where this part is actually manufactured.
Part i ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GCW7660/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
sorry, what I mean is I cant verify if this part is a legitmate part or a counterfeit. Hoping someone with an eye for this stuff could tell if the sticker and bag provided would indicate anything. The numbers on the part sticker didnt exactly match the picture on amazon so im a bit wary.
part I ordered. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GCW7660/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is what I have. They have lasted for years and have excellent projection. I have a 2011 LE: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V79ZFWN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
outer tie rods you can just smack the side of the hub where it installs with a hammer until it unfreezes it's self. Or, you can use pickle forks if you aren't trying to reuse them. They also make a little clamp you can tighten to remove them without damaging, but a hammer works just as well.
for the inner tie rods most places don't rent the removal set that works on Toyotas. You need the one that has these little crow's feet looking attachments found here: link
Nice, I have always wanted one of those. Especially in the All-trac edition with those killer fogs...
As a new 20+ year old soft car owner as well I wanted to share a secrect with you for your likely old and brittle gaskets at the doors and top's latching area.
Shin Etsu Grease It's like magic and makes the rubber soft and plush with a deep black look. I was looking at $100s in gaskets for my MR2 and found this stuff. Honda formulated it for the Honda S2000 originally. It's like magic.
Next time use a 3M drill kit I've used this 3 times on different vehicles and it's the absolute best in giving your headlights a clean buff.
Also use a 2k anti uv clear coat , this product is currently the best. Expensive sure but do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again.
I will help all day long!
The gun was from amazon.
I've used this gun on probably ten jobs and it's the best.
Use MEK to clean it...regular paint thinner wont work. If you really start doing this as a job for money I typically only get two jobs out of a gun. It's just so thick and the gun is cheap so it's easier to buy new ones.
Pressure setting is kinda dependent on the texture you want. I like a smoother texture so I spray about 60 psi without the trigger pulled. If you want more "grit" lower the psi.
For his truck we used two gallons of tintable monstaliner with medium quartz grey tint. Keep in mind we did the bed...the truck...the nerf bars..and the bumpers...
One gallon would do a car and the trunk
Also the biggest tip I can give is buy the one gallon paint can funnel from shur line at Walmart or lowes. It's a spout that attaches to the paint can so you dont spill product. It's like 4 bucks or something. It helps you pour into the paint gun cup without wasting product.
Keep asking questions man I love to help people get into the world of painting and bed liner. The guy I did this truck for had never painted anything and now he can do this all by himself.
I verified today that the mechanism for lowering the spare tire is totally inaccessible from underneath so I'll need to get the tool to lower it. I've done some looking around on Amazon and found a kit that looks similar but has prime shipping and is cheaper than the one you linked. Would this work? https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-926-805-Spare-Tire-Tool/dp/B01MTVTHRI/ref=pd_sbs_469_8?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01MTVTHRI&pd_rd_r=QV72THYM2SEQ5PZ8PT4V&pd_rd_w=1pGiw&pd_rd_wg=smn1g&psc=1&refRID=QV72THYM2SEQ5PZ8PT4V
Hey swoosh, retail is in the low $20 range. Check out the amazon product page here for example: https://www.amazon.com/12-pin-Dashcam-Adapter-Homelink-Mirrors/dp/B07DMW3DML/
I also have a universal one that uses "taps" that's a few bucks cheaper as well.
This followed by this fill out to find the part # and search on Amazon as well
