They're most likely trying to get rid of their physical copies before they change payment model, and from this it sounds like F2P rather than B2P. They want to get rid of their stock of physical copies so that retailers don't send them back to Carbine and demand money for them when they do the switch. TERA did the same exact thing before they went F2P: http://tera.enmasse.com/news/posts/buy-a-tera-box-get-an-epic-mount
This coupled with the fact that Australian retailers are pulling their copies of Wildstar makes me almost certain that this is the case, although I personally think B2P would have been better than F2P.
https://steamdb.info/app/371920/subs/
68222 is dev copy
68223 is consumer/purchase for a key. Possibly means b2p or requires recurring subscription. They either may not have included it with this update on Steam for testing, or it could be still through NCSoft on their site and kept off Steam. If I remember correctly, ESO allowed purchases through Steam BUT you needed to manage your subscription through the ESO Store.
68224 seems to be trial.
Edit: 68224 was unlinked from the app. (Still can be found here: https://steamdb.info/sub/68224/history/) (Thanks /u/MadBlue for the update!)
Considering that Carbine is planning new content every month, no matter when they release it in the month, you're always going to have to keep subscribing to experience the new content. That's exactly the way the sub model is supposed to work.
There's a rot at the root of the MMO industry: the need to show demos to investors, fast, means that you use sloppy improvised processes and brute forced spaghetti code to rush out art assets and rudimentary systems ... but then there's never time nor money to go back and re-engineer the content development and code management processes, so you just keep piling on more spaghetti code and burning out more and more content providers with overwork and abuse.
Over the last decade, the MMO industry has wasted a trillion dollars' worth of investment, and this exact story has come out of the post mortem for each one.
Nobody who's read Fred Brooks's famous post mortem on OS/360, The Mythical Man-Month, would design a software development process like this ... if they had any choice. You build the tools first, then you build the product. The way that we build MMOs would be as if you were going to try to sell swords without taking the time to invent the hammer and the anvil and the forge. But if you do it that way, then you don't have anything to show the investors until the very end.
NCSOFT has confirmed that they are "restructuring key operations". >While decisions like this are always hard, they are necessary as we begin the implementation of a new strategy designed to strengthen our footing as a leader in global entertainment. Moving forward, we will continue to focus on our core development capabilities and the intellectual properties (WildStar, Aion, Lineage, and Guild Wars franchises) that have made NCSOFT what it is today. However, we are looking to move into new business segments like mobile and tablet games as well as explore emerging technologies. Again, the decision to reduce staff was not an easy one, and we sincerely wish everyone well in their next endeavors.

I just made a 2 character change to a certain Carbine addon (Inventory) which previously went up to 1ms/frame. It now only takes 0.010ms/frame in fight.

For those interested, I just commented out this line:
>Apollo.RegisterEventHandler("PersonaUpdateCharacterStats", "UpdateBagSlotItems", self) -- using this for bag changes
I have no words for whoever thought this was a smart thing to do.
Here Gaffer, exec producer of Carbine calls the game unplayable with our ping http://www.reddit.com/r/WildStar/comments/1yrhtd/na_wildstar_performance_in_australia/cfnpqhq
Here in an interview hes talking about looking at the sales data to see what they can do after release. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/632/feature/8420/page/2
The game is unplayable and the only chance we have of getting servers is to play it.
If this is based off what I think it is, then it's slightly incorrect, which a lot of people I've spoken to over the past few days seem to believe too.
Originally I posted this comment in the Steamdb thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/WildStar/comments/35vm11/wildstar_coming_to_steam/cr8azea
If you check the app itself (not just one subid like this info is basing it all on), here: https://steamdb.info/app/371920/subs/
You can see 68222 and 68223.
68222 is the dev/publisher license/version.
68223 is the consumer license. Lists it as single purchase. HOWEVER, this is what ESO did when they still had a subscription fee. You paid for it, then managed your subscription through ESO's store, not through Steam at all. Wildstar may do this, it may not.
68224, which this article bases this all off of, is listed as free on demand, meaning it's likely the trial copy for people to check out before possibly purchasing. It was initially on the app id (371920) for Wildstar, but later removed after a few hours for unknown reasons.
A couple of days ago someone posted the publicly available steam information on https://steamdb.info/sub/68224/
http://www.reddit.com/r/WildStar/comments/35vm11/wildstar_coming_to_steam/
This doesn't have anything to do with the "leak".
Nah, you are right overall, it's impossible for a game to launch with 10 years of content, including mounts, pets, etc. That said there are a few things you can try to get while playing solo, per example the first boss at Stormtalon can drop a mount flair, even in normal. I'm able to solo the normal version of Stormtalon, Kel'Voreth and Skullcano, so I can farm some cool things in there. Also rares have unique loot tables, some of them even drop pretty rare skins, and things like this: http://www.ign.com/wikis/wildstar/Unlocking_the_Goldensun_Essence
Oh and some world bosses, like Agreggor in Crimson Badlands (not exactly a world boss I think but whatever), can drop some really nice looking stuff, check this badass sword:
http://wildstar.datminer.com/item/48015/Dust-Devil-Battleblade#3dmodel
So yeah, I agree it's not even close to WoW in that regard, but it already has some cool things to get while playing solo and it'll only get better with time.
BAMs (Big Ass Monsters) in TERA were my fave part of that game. In this game, the autoattacks of the mobs sort of stick to you, so it's a bit harder, where in TERA you could dodge/manuever 100% of the attacks.
Check the history of the apps (68222/68223) and package (68224). The two unnamed apps were removed from the Wildstar package, not the other way around.
If you do a search for for Wildstar under packages, the WildStar package comes up. If you do a search for Wildstar under Apps, nothing comes up.
Note, Lineage II also has a Lineage II package, with 2 unnamed apps that were all created and separated at the same time as the Wildstar ones. The Package says "Free on Demand" and the Apps say "CD Key" - the same as in Wildstar's case, and Lineage II is most definitely a F2P game.
Other games use different product codes. The Secret World and Guild Wars use the "Store" ID classification, with both being b2p. "Free on Demand" is reserved for f2p games and trailers.
To this end, f2p is an inevitability it seems. Unless there are other apps filed under the same name, with this being a secondary (possibly for those that already own the game).
Keep an eye on
https://steamdb.info/app/371920/
Which is the actual game ID. Probably base game free and they have at least two paid versions. So probably Trial and Standard, Deluxe. No F2P? That would be a face palm....
Pretty sure the maintenance has something to do with it though.
SK is what I've used for all the guilds I've run. The site i used previously was taken down so today i started working on my own SK app using JavaScript. Here is a very very preliminary version of the app. http://jsfiddle.net/P834u/
Click on the boxes next to the names to set players as absent and click on the name itself to drop him to the bottom of the list.
Eventually the plan is to have a link the leaders can share to alter the list and a link for the rest of the guild without any editing options.

No one is refusing to acknowledge the games problems.
This sub reddit is full of people voicing their opinions and talking about the issues. Carbine should be busy with fixing those problems and not responding to someone who just wants to get their name up on the internet by posting a flaming article.
They aren't blind to the problems, but they have to skirt the line between acknowledging the problems and providing hope for current and future players who are interested in playing the game.
here are some articles where they are speaking about the problems and potential solutions.

MMORPG.com is getting bombed, holy shit.
And, naturally, the one I'm actually in time for ISN'T a first-come-first-serve giveaway. Guess it's time to pack up and go home, rolls aren't my schtick. xD
I think I need to warn people that what is being suggested here is, in general, bad security advice and represents a mis-implementation of the Google Two Step Verification API. Once a batch of devices is verified as properly installed on an issued Secret, it should no longer be valid or useful in any way!
To require someone to keep an established Secret in order to add new devices... and this shouldn't be a shocker... allows people to steal said secret and potentially remove the ability for your device to generate valid codes, while adding that ability to a device that they control.
For new phone/lost phone issues, the proper implementation of a system that could let you keep playing while Carbine deals with your ticket would be a Backup Code system, as you can easily revoke those at any time if there is a security threat. So while Carbine is working through the queue to get to your lost/new phone issue, you can continue to play.
Is correct and secure implementation of the system more work for Carbine? Yes, initially. But once they automate it, this shouldn't be any more overhead than anything else.
Even the above suggested system is considered fairly weak in the context of the 2 Factor setup for the game (validating for a week at a time, etc.) But at least it's within the parameters and the spirit of a Goggle 2 Factor implementation.
I used timeanddate.com to convert the timezone.

Ends: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20140323T2355&p1=137

I think OP just wants a B2P sandbox mmo.
IMO until EQ next is actually being played by people, it can be anything a person assumes it to be. Along the same lines as how gearbox showed a 'bullshot' in-game trailer of Aliens:Colonial Marines which looked fantastic and talked up the aliens AI programming, how warhammer:online/Rift/GW2 was supposed to be the next thing in non-static zones because of it's dynamic events, changing environments etc.
Just because the devs say something does not mean it is true, and just because it's fun to you does not mean it's fun to me. Until you actually start creating your dream game, you will probably not discover the various logical fallacies, loopholes present in your game rules that can be abused by players. What OP has presented in his post, a virtual ecosystem, was actually attempted to some extent by ultima online, but never present in the final game, and with good reason. See ( http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/12/feature/6103 )
That's not to say it cannot be done, rather that it is definitely not a simple thing to do. We can only wait until the games come out before forming an educated opinion on it.
TL;DR : If EQ next turns out to be more fun than Wildstar, I'll play EQ next, and vice versa.
While this is not always the case (there is bugs), Wildstar's performance relies very heavily on the single threaded performance of your cpu. I'm curious what cpu you have?
Naturally, this is both an issue with mmo's in general, and an issue with Carbine as their engine is extremely taxing on the cpu (more so than most other games) and thus it is very very important for them to have exceptional multi-threading, which currently they do not. To be fair, multi-threading a game, especially one as complex as an mmo, is a very difficult task that few companies have done, and very few have done well.
For reference, here is a chart that shows the single threaded performance of most of the top cpu's out there: Chart
Once again, the cpu may not be the issue in some cases due to bugs and other computer related issues, but in many cases it is the primary issue (coupled with the need for more multi-threading to take a load off the main thread of the game that is bottle-necking everything).
This is ultimately the common reason that AMD users suffer from poor performance, as Wildstar really does need to be better multi-threaded in order to take advantage of the many cores of AMD cpu's, while working around the poor single threaded performance of AMD cpu's, which unfortunately is not the case right now. As seen on the chart linked, even the fastest AMD processor is beaten in single threaded performance by very modest Intel cpu's very handily, and completely destroyed by all of the upper end cpu's.
In the case of Intel cpu's, the high performers do very well, but perform much better in Wildstar when overclocked and when sufficiently cooled, as you gain a large amount of single threaded performance from overclocking.
Just to expand on this, for anyone who is curious and doesn't already know how normal maps work:
"Baking" refers to generating normal maps off of the high-poly detail. In essence it is like looking in at the model from the outside, and projecting the detail down onto the lower poly area as a texture. Of course the detail is no longer actual geometry; but it needs light to react to it as if it were. This is how the magic is made. The normal map does this by basically having several colors that make it up which correspond to different "normals."
The normal of a polygon refers to a 1 to 0 to -1 range of if the surface is facing a light source, 90 degrees from it, or is facing away. A normal map utilizes the previously mentioned colors on a texture to basically tell light hitting the model that, rather than reacting to the surface based on the actual geometry, look at this texture instead and react to what it tells you. This makes light hitting a geometrically flat surface, instead cast shadows or highlights based on the details that are not actually there.
Here is a simple example of a normal map. The light blue which makes up most of the texture seen there is more or less your flat surface color. However if you look at the bumps themselves, you see how there are dark blues, cyans, and purples making up their edge. These are the colors that are telling light to react to this spot as if its normal was actually something other than what the geometry is providing.
We mentioned this issue a lot here on this subreddit, but I don´t think it will change for launch.
That the placeholder art for the overall worldmap is still there after the UI 2.0 update is maybe a sign that they are working on a map revamp, which would be great. However, it is more likely that we will "just" get a visual update of the current system (https://dribbble.com/shots/974268-Wildstar-Map?list=users&offset=13)
The game itself is hemorrhaging players, and the community, including this sub, has always been exceptionally toxic.
I know people don't like Raptr, but WildStar is clear down to #211 on the daily tracker and #231 for the week
For comparison, using the weekly tracker:
ESO is actually doing significantly better than WS. On Raptr, ESO is #66 for last week, WS is #126.
Other, ancient and "failed" MMO's doing better than WS:
Yes, it's about the amount of blue light that's getting into your eyes. It fools your brain and it thinks it's still day, while it's already 2 a.am. The blue light exposure makes it harder to fall asleep.

they actually did. back before launch let me see if i can find the interview
welp i found it, they said they really really really don't want to at least

They grossed 12 million in revenue annually. >- NCSoft paid $8 million USD to buy CoH. They wanted $80 million USD to sell it. They only value it at $3 million for tax purposes. >- CoH had a high retention rate. Subscribers had a stick rate of 95-98%. >- NCSoft has no plans for a CoH 2. Paragon wanted to do it but NCSoft was growing ever more uncomfortable with a Superhero IP, worried that it wouldn't work in today's market. They had created a Kickstarter page and a campaign video, but it never went to press. >- They (Paragon) had a second project in the works. It was a compromise to not being able to make CoH 2. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/632/view/ratings/read/comments
Lots of wow fanboys hating on the game bringing down ratings from what I can gather in the comments (This coming from someone who still enjoys warcraft)
Other things range from people's complaints with the pay to play model, to optimization issues (People concerned that the game doesn't constantly run on 60+ FPS in ever zone on every graphics card, which isn't realistic seeing as it's still in optimization).
Step 1: buy from NCSoft or from Amazon
Step 2: Use that 30 days to level up and enjoy the game, hit 50 and make/earn 10+ platinum and buy yourself some CREDD (current market price ~10Plat.)
There are many groups out there imo. Find yourself a guild or a group. Tbh, you'll probably be playing with only a handful of people in the beginner zones...but it's getting better. New blood is always coming in. You're probably concerned about the amount of players, but if you sub, you'll be helping your own cause.
Good Luck
Account-wide stuff is something a lot of us really want. Especially those of us with alts.
The holo-wardrobe was a great added feature. It allows costumes to be used on all my alts. Dyes and mounts (and maybe toys?) should be the next step.
A couple of months ago this article surfaced, where they sayd that they were considering making dyes account wide. So hopefully we will see that someday (dyes from the shop already are account-unlocks, but a lot of dyes like supernova white are not yet) :-)
Carbine plz!
After months of obsessively reading this reddit at work, I finally made a reddit account to make my very first post. So happy that I finally managed to get this name, as I've tried to with every major MMO launch and failed:
http://tinypic.com/r/2lvyd09/8
This may, however, obligate me to play a Chua.
Headstart begins May 31 at 12:01 AM PDT (note that the US west coast is currently in the PDT timezone, not PST). This is equivalent to May 31 at 9:01 AM CEST or May 31 at 7:01 AM UTC/GMT.
Edit: You can convert between time zones here
Don't know exactly ... I got a second key (preorder+game) when I bought the game, just asked my guild-mates ... mixed results.
Some got an extra preorder key, some didn't (yet?) ... all could use the name-reservation - I'm really confused now, maybe the "real" preorder key wasn't needed for the name-reservation, just a registered game-code?
I guess I'm pretty much on the safe side, but if you have preordered and didn't receive an extra preoder key you should contact your reseller!
Edit:
Ugh ... a Guildmate just told me (he preordered on some shady key-reseller site) that you have to read exactly what you're buying ... he bought "Wildstar Preorder" (or something like that) and didn't buy the "Wildstar including Preorder Key" ... he now has to buy an extra preorder-key for 5€ ...
Edit 2:
Example 1 - including preorder key
Example 2 - no preorder key
I think it's pretty shady to sell the keys seperate, especially since every game you buy before launch should be considered a "preorder" ... I really don't know why there are 2 seperate keys and not just "registered game key before launch = preorder"
Sounds like a good idea.
In fact, there's this webpage: http://asoftmurmur.com/ That can give a bunch of different ambient sounds, I'm sure that would go great with Gallow (even has a chatter sound!)
they discussed that here:
>JP: Not at the moment but this is something we’re discussing. We’re definitely excited at the notion of placing pets you’ve collected on your housing property somewhere. Here’s an interesting housing factoid: Creatures on your housing property don’t consider player-placed décor when they’re determining where they are allowed to walk. Simply slapping pets down as creatures and letting them roam around a bit isn’t an option. We have some ideas on how to get pets on player properties and will likely be adding it in a future update.
You need to edit the XML file you just copied; Notepad is fine for this, although something like Notepad++ is a bit friendlier to use. See this comment for the changes you need to make to get it to work.
Someone recommended this on the wild-star forums. Try downloading Hotspot Shield and running it and then flushing DNS and trying to run patcher. Not really sure why it works but my patcher instantly came up. Will update if something goes wrong.
There was a great article on IGN a while back which contained our videos and some basics on the classes. This might be helpful in your search for the right class.

Game is not dead. I will be honest and say that the PvP side of the game is in a really bad spot right now. PvE is fantastic though! Housing is amazing! Crafting is good but still needs a ton of work.
Its on sale right now https://www.humblebundle.com/store/p/wildstar_storefront
>To mark the release of the WildStar open beta, Carbine Studios will host a 30-minute livestream at its Twitch channel on Thursday starting at 11 a.m. PDT. Developers will provide a "state of the game" update, talk about why they think WildStar will shake up the MMO space, and answer fan questions.
>A second WildStar livestream will be held on Friday, May 9, also starting at 11 a.m. PDT. Developers will talk about the challenges of getting WildStar ready for release, provide a first look at higher level open beta content, and even potentially reveal "post launch content gameplay." The WildStar team will also field questions from social media.
Edit: Highlighted the bit I'm most interested in.
This older Gamespot article has an actual quote about it
But then doesn't provide a source so I can read/hear it directly from Carbine...
I feel like they've made a big deal out of their Box/Sub/CREDD business model already, so to change it to include Microtransactions so close to launch wouldn't go down too well.
But like I said below, anything could happen 6 - 12 months after launch =/
I know a lot of people are saying box + sub model has become obsolete, but have you seen the very unexpected success of FFXIV: ARR? I currently have a sub to a game I went into the beta hating (see 1.0).
I certainly hope this game won't fail, but you do bring up good points and I see your above mentioned concerns as a marker for how financially successful they might be limited to.
I'm definitely Day 1ing this game for sure, but the high skill-set level could be a turn off for those new to MMOs. And the fact that it doesn't take itself seriously, which is something I personally love.
People keep saying GW2 was a "success" for NCSoft without any sort of facts to back it up. NCSoft was in the RED both during Q3, 2012 and Q4, 2012. That means they had negative income:
http://www.ncsoft.net/global/ir/earnings.aspx
Also, NCSoft stock dropped by 50% from the exact period GW2 launched to today:
http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=036570.KS+Interactive
Carbine will have inside info as to how GW2 is doing, and they can make a decision based on that. But thus far, GW2 is not retaining players and financial reports don't tell a good story.
You posted sales figures only. That means nothing by itself you have to consider costs. NCSoft was in the RED both during Q3, 2012 and Q4, 2012. That means they had negative income.
http://www.ncsoft.net/global/ir/earnings.aspx
Also, NCSoft stock dropped by 50% from the exact period GW2 launched to today:
If you are going to twist the words around enough that this isn't an exploit, then what would be an exploit to you? Items that you can salvage for more than mat cost? Clever use of game mechanics. Have your tank stand in a different room on x-89 and chain chug boosts for a free kill? Clever use of game mechanics. Bind your trinket to 40 keys and mash them all at once to full heal? The game only checks cd between server update ticks; sees legit casts go through before it hits CD, casts it 40 times, those are game mechanics, full heal every minute is just a clever use of a game mechanic. Theres nothing that stops you from mashing enough keys before the CD triggers =p
At the end of the day, there was a dev oversight that allows you to make an encounter much easier. You are exploiting that oversight. It is definitely clever use of game mechanics, but you are still exploiting that oversight.
>ya its not an exploit by any definition of the word.
And, I guess for completeness sake, here is the definition of the word:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_DnoFKgS5_QdTM0cDU3SVJ0Mk0&usp=sharing
Found this doing a google search. The only thing is that it doesn't bind any of the attack or gather keys to the controller, only roll, sprint, and camera move. If anybody knows how to fix that I'd appreciate it, the mouse and keyboard is killing my wrists.
The tooltip page is all the guide you really need if you have some elementary knowledge of web design. It's actually pretty straight forward. Here is an example I made with just a single link to Jabbithole. The code is in the upper left frame, how it will display on a web page is on the lower right frame.
If this makes no sense to you whatsoever, then read up on basic web design. There are >9000 guides online for general HTML/CSS. The javascript has already been taken care of for you by Jabbithole.
Being a consultant means he does not work there, but is available to answer questions. There has been zero indication that he's had anything to do with Carbine since he left.

I'm not sure why you're arguing about this. He resigned in the first 90 days after WildStar had already lost more than half of its subscribers.
humans are always the weakest link in security, you are absolutely right. but it takes more guts to call cs and impersonate somebody as opposed to being a script kiddie hiding behind proxies and botnets; its also riskier, and i am not sure gaining access to a game account is worth it for most such con artists (go for bigger fish, like phony amazon replacement orders )
http://www.polygon.com/2016/8/8/12348388/mmo-genre-dying-empyrean-interactive
may not be all of them but most are starting to branch out....
This is really well thought out. But keep in mind that the paths weren't meant to be expanded upon later like one might expect with classes. They're based around the four Bartle Types (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartle_Test).
Here's an interview with Stephan Frost where he mentions it. (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/632/feature/8034/An-Interview-with-Stephan-Frost.html) >Paths were based loosely on the Bartle types of players. The Soldier is the Path for players who like Holdouts, Assassination Missions, and testing out experimental weapons on enemies. Basically if you are into killing everything that moves, this is your Path. The Explorer is for players that love uncovering every bit of the map. We added jump puzzles, hidden doors, and scavenger hunts for this Path to encourage players to run all over the place. The Scientist is for the lore hungry players out there that collect and read every kind of story text in the game. The Scientist can scan objects in the world and find out information specific to only this Path. The Settler was something that we added based on the social types that hang out in MMOs. People that hang out and chat in cities and quest hubs will love the Settler Path because it rewards you for keeping the place alive. You can spawn in quest hubs, speed boosts, combat buffs, and loads of other stuff that makes life easier for you and all your compatriots in the area.
Look at the relative single threaded performance: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
The only AMD in the ballpark of Intel is the AMD FX-9590, and it's so overpriced it doesn't even matter.

Search Wildstar and Go.
I would say your CPU looks too slow and the GPU underpowered.
Wildstar has high requirements, you may just be able to play in ultra-low.
If you are from EU you can buy it very cheaply at G2A!
They do have US versions (new), but it's much more expensive (for some reason?) than the EU one, but still cheaper than from Wildstar Store.
From here >Quarterly content updates will keep coming as the team already has over a year’s worth fully planned out, and all of those will be free for all players: no splitting the communities with fractured DLC or content packages for purchase.
The relevant bit: >MMORPG: Will the dye unlocks be account wide, or just per character? If the latter, are there plans to take it account wide? If no, why not? If the wardrobe is account wide, we'd hope the dyes are too.
>JP: We’ve got our eye on making dyes account bound and you can expect it sometime in the future. We considered holding the whole system back until a future patch in order to get account-wide dyes in place but decided against it.
Well, they said: >"We’re interested in microtransactions, but only if we can offer it in a way that fits with the vision of WildStar. We’re approaching this topic very carefully and will share details as they come available,"
>Lastly, we talked about the dreaded microtransaction, and if WildStar would opt to also have a cash shop. In short? It won’t, at least not yet. They don’t want to close that door completely, but for now the only thing extra you can buy will be CREDD. If they add other MTX options, it’ll only be stuff that won’t screw their customers over. Cosmetic items, convenience things, and so forth.
That being said, the main reason why a lot of subscribers are up in arms about the idea of switching to a hybrid model is the introduction of a cash shop that has stuff subscribers have to pay extra for, so introducing a cash shop while the game is still subscription based - after dropping their monthly update plan, no less - wouldn't sit well with a lot of people.
I completely disagree. I was there for the release, and it was the worst I have ever seen. The bots in A Realm Reborn were terrible immediately after release. I stood at the spot where new characters spawned in (after the intro stuff), and they just constantly spawned with crazy names and teleported off, all day every day.
But, the more obvious thing was the RMT spammers... if you say you don't remember them, then you were not there for release, I guarantee it because it was so bad it was actually hilarious. They spammed so fast that your entire chat log was full within seconds of entering the major cities. The predominant issue was that there was no cap on how fast they could spam for a long time, and it was actually funny to see them standing in the city with their moves moving constantly for days (shouts in the game make your characters mouth move).
Here is a thread from mmorpg.com less than two weeks after the release of A Realm Reborn that shows a bit of what I was talking about.
He actually mentioned it again in an interview a few days ago, except that now he's calling them Million Newbie Weekends, presumably to be less insulting to those who don't normally raid :) Sounds like it's more his pet idea than a confirmed feature, though.
Yep. Alienware Arena (https://na.alienwarearena.com/giveaways/wildstar-april-18-20-closed-beta-weekend-key-giveaway), and MMORPG.com (http://www.mmorpg.com/giveaways.cfm/offer/504/Wildstar-Beta-Weekend-Key-Giveaway.html) Has years worth of keys.
Side note, NDA is DOWN, and June 3rd is confirmed! Tons of great pre-order stuff:
layers who pre-order have early access to several closed and open beta events and will receive a variety of exclusive in-game items and perks, including:
Early game access beginning Tuesday, May 31 (three days prior to the game’s official launch).
An exclusive Rocket House A mini-ship housing decoration, which grants players additional rest experience points. A 10-slot storage bag to increase character inventory
The opportunity to reserve character and guild names prior to launch. WildStar will be available in two versions. The Standard Edition includes the game, 30 days of play time, and three 7-day friend passes, as well as an Eldan-themed Housing Décor item. For an additional $15, the Digital Deluxe version of WildStar includes all elements of the Standard Edition as well as an even larger package of exclusive content: an Eldan Hoverboard, a unique costume, a unique Eldan player title and a limited-edition Eldan dye set.
this is a tangent, but path of exile is giving away razor products to people in a drawing. if you play their two week charity race and get to a certain level you are entered for a chance to win.
details can be found here
The website is a bigger project than you think it is, not that I was particularly talking about it.
It's easy to add a line or two or two fix minor factual things. It's hard to add entirely new categories with information and make it look nice especially for the translated sites.
They would likely have to examine every single page they serve to make sure it has the correct content. Then they have to make sure it looks properly on the page with the changes across various mobile and desktop browsers. Then they have to have it translated into each language (probably freelancers) and it again needs to be looked at.
It'll likely be brought in line next time they do a major website revamp. F2P isn't open yet. Although I haven't been following it at all, i'll be very surprised if they don't revamp or create an entirely new website for the full release.
Ultimately a website is trivial compared to the gameplay. Carbine/NCSoft don't have unlimited resources (read:money) to work with, so gameplay should come first.
If you want an example, look at minecraft's website. It's garbage. It looks like it was made by an amateur in 2009 (practically was..)- still hasn't stopped it from being one of the best selling games of all time.
The CPU is your biggest bottleneck here.
The issue is that you would need to change motherboard as well.
60 dollars for a 2nd gen 2500k sounds like a pretty legitimate upgrade to me if you can pick a motherboard to go with. (LGA1155 socket)
Here is a comparison of the two CPUs on Passmark's website http://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=804&cmp[]=171
about a third of the way down, motherboards start. http://www.frys.com/search?search_type=regular&sqxts=1&cat=&query_string=LGa1155
The downside I can see is that the cheaper boards only have 2 DIMM slots so if your 12GB of RAM is 3x4GB or 4x3GB or even 6x2GB (if you even have that many DIMM slots) you will only be able to get in 2 sticks worth.
On the whole your biggest issue is the CPU - it's single thread performance is pretty terror and typically that is the determining factor for MMOs in terms of CPU performance.
If your motherboard was capable of AM3+ then perhaps a newer generation AMD CPU would have been a cheaper route but it is not the case here.
After your CPU it will be your fairly dated 5700 series ATi card, someone has already mentioned it but in terms of value you'd be looking at a Nvidia 760 or an ATi R9 280X depending on your preference between ATi/Nvidia.
Really straight forward, just make sure you follow every instruction.
If you go here: https://www.apple.com/uk/support/bootcamp/getstarted/
and follow this official guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf
You will have it done within half an hour. All it basically does is splits your hard drive in to 2 partitions, you need install windows. Once windows boots up, just just need to install the drivers found by looking at the first link and install them on your windows machine. When booting up your machine, just hold the option key "the alt key" and you will be able to choose whether you boot into windows or mac. You need to download & extract the drivers on your mac and then transfer them to your windows machine and then install them as your windows wont have access to the internet without these drivers.
Its honestly really simple and you should have no problem, as long as you read every step in the guide.
The page itself can be built, but you would need a pretty good cluster of web servers (CPU, RAM, and hard drive speeds matter) and enough bandwidth to handle the load. Both of these cost a lot of money.
Interesting quote I found:
>10,000 at a time will work [for one server] but you have to know your entire setup intimately and never block any of the CPU's waiting for any I/O, as well as not be limited by your bandwidth. (assuming 10KB per http request and response @10,000 requests per second, that's 97 MB per second)
Post on load testing and capacity planning
Note that game servers probably go through the same planning and testing, but I would imagine the game servers are tested more throughly (more concurrent users, higher load testing, etc).
You need to use a VPN to give yourself an American IP address when starting the launcher.
I recommend SoftEther http://www.vpngate.net/en/download.aspx or HotSpot shield but you may need premium to get an american IP.
Once the launcher has started (While having the VPN running) wait for it to update (Once the update has started I think you can turn the VPN off if the download is too slow but I have only tested this once).
After that you can turn the VPN off.
You also have to do this every time you want to play.
I'm using Authy on my phone, it has an option to backup your authenticators, it is encrypted and is secured by sms so for someone to restore your backup they would need a phone with your phone number. If you lose your phone or get a new phone all you need to do is confirm your account with sms, enter a password and restore.
Authy also works as a chrome plugin, so you can use it on a computer as well. If you only have a dumbphone you can probably use Authy in your browser and use sms on your phone for verification, not completely sure of this though.
Veeery long read, but worth it. A textbook example of some megalomaniac exec ruining a company.

I've got something working. It doesn't do anything but modify every item tooltip to say [Gear Set] at the top, where "Currently Equipped" was. You can change this to be whatever gearset name, or put it somewhere else, if you have some Apollo-Form-fu in you.
Hope it's of some help to you! http://ideone.com/iQSqvo
Literally roster size. ArenaNet is pretty public with their roster (somewhere around 300-400) Carbine Studios less so but searching online I've seen about 140. Linkedin lists their range between 51-200. https://www.linkedin.com/company/carbine-studios
>Is anyone else getting a "Failed downloading " error? Tried launching my live version (was just playing at 2 am this morning) and it I assume started downloading a launcher update but failed multiple times. Launcher never opens, just loading bar. Decided to just reinstall clean version and copy over my PTR patch and same thing. Launcher never opens, just loading bar.
>EDIT: After trying everything and researching like crazy, it seems that most downloading issues have a common solution. Download Hotspot Shield. Installed it and ran the installer again and it worked just fine. Not sure what changed as never had a problem downloading/installing patches before with Wildstar but for anyone else who is having issue try this.
This may help.
As a VPN user, I urge you to consider trying a VPN service.
This lets you ignore all that content restriction garbage, and also easily lets you change your country, so you can access all that cool content that is blocked by region on sites like Hulu or whatever. Plus, it's great security if you use public wifi.
The difference in ping is extremely minimal, and there is no software needed for any of the major services. I use StrongVPN, which you can get an account with for 40-50 USD per year. I've also tried PureVPN, which worked fine (same price range).
There are a number of even cheaper services out there (some are less reliable than others though, so I find $40/year for flawless service and fast customer support to be a great deal), so it's worth looking around. Definitely consider it though; you don't need to use them all the time, but it's a great help.
Oh, and to use them in Windows, it's just an icon above the wifi selection menu, just press the button, and you're on VPN (you need to enter your account info the first time, just like accessing secure wifi connection). Super easy. Don't put up with ISPs' crap!
Just a heads up that you can easily use a VPN to get a US IP address (or vice-versa). I feel they're a good investment anyway if you travel or often use public wifi, and you can get them quite cheap ($50/year tops for a very reputable one, like StrongVPN).
Just remember that if you use a VPN, make sure you use it consistently for the game, and register both your regular and VPN IP address with NCSOFT (easy to do on the account security page), or they may see the separate log in attempts as signs of a compromised account.
.
.
edit Just a note to anyone concerned about the set-up or hassle; VPNs are incredibly easy to use, and generally don't require any additional software. You can set them up in about 40 seconds in Windows by right-clicking the network icon (once you have an account). After that, the option to connect to the VPN just sits on top of your wifi/internet connection list as a single connect/disconnect option.
The proportions but also keeping track of the midline so that everything is placed correctly, which can be tricky if you're doing different angles. Just google around "drawing human proportions" and check out some stuff. For books I'd recommend "Figure Drawing for All It's Worth" so far as drawing / proportions / perspective goes, and "Human Anatomy for the Artist" by Peck for anatomy (learning anatomy will go a long way!).
It took them at least a couple weeks to review ESO... The date of the review is when they start reviewing them not when the final review is posted. You can see the archive here http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/04/21/the-elder-scrolls-online-review-in-progress-archive.
The last entry was on April 15th,and if you see at the bottom,he said his review will be available by the end of the week which is April 19th.So please don't spout any bullshit here.
Stealth -> Analyze Weakness -> then spam Neutralize in the middle of a group. Then repeat.
Here's some info on the skill: http://www.ign.com/wikis/wildstar/Stalker_Abilities#Neutralize
As for AMPs, you get several "sets" so don't worry about messing up with your first one. Plus you can respec with some cash. Just focus on damage and life steal for leveling up. Here's a site to help you plan: http://ws-base.com/builds/generator/stalker
Here is a kill video of the only proper raid boss, that has been added to the game after launch:

As for the next raid tier coming, it has been on the PTR for a while now and some guilds have been streaming their testing of it. Here is some random VOD of someone testing the new raid tier:

About Us
We are a semi-hardcore raiding guild and we are currently progressing in Datascape. We welcome all players ranging from socials to raiders.
Our current progress can be seen from our website at: Link
We help our new members go through veteran dungeons and if they want to raid, help them with their attunements so they can catch up to us.
Currently we are in high need of dps and healer roles, lacking mostly in warriors, espers.
Expectations
We usually are in a pretty relaxed state in the guild. But certain things are required that goes without saying, such as:
For raiders: * Teamspeak * Be on time for raids and be prepared * Listen to callouts and do not disturb the raid.
Raid stream: Link
Contact info: feel free to contact via whisper or mail in game to character name, Prosperity Nebula for more information and questions.
IGN's article on the packages said:
> Players with the Standard Edition will be able to retroactively upgrade to the Digital Deluxe version through the online WildStar store.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/12/wildstar-release-date-and-pre-order-bonuses-announced
nope, WS megaservers have absolutely zero to do with GW2 style megaservers
WS megaservers is a server merger, period
I complained about the confusing terminology and CRB_Cougar confirmed that my interpretation is correct:
> I actually asked about that specifically internally. The label just sort of caught on internally, and I wanted to make sure that we were okay with the label before we went public with it.
> Everyone was okay with it.
> But yes, the only similarity with GW2's tech and ours is the name :) It is pretty generic of a name though, you must admit! (TESO uses it too)
i just discovered it on curse before reading this post.
what a nice surprise, now i have to use it !!
heres the pink one i posted as .tga if someone still wants it:
So I made these icons for Wildstar a little while ago and figured I'd share them with you guys. The first image obviously is just showing how it looks on my start screen. It's a large enough image that it will look clear and crisp as a large tile icon too though, if you choose.
These are just the two PNGs for the tile, but here is a link to icon files, and the specific one I'm using as a tile with that green background. There's also ones that are dark if you prefer that - in both PNG and ICO formats.
OneDrive is funky with it's previews, but if you download those, you'll get the actual ICO files - and because they're transparent PNGs, the black ones are previewed as just pure black, but you can select one and click "View Original" in the top left and it'll show the actual image (or you can just download them).
You can also try putting older driver version .DLLs into the game folder where the .exe is. For instance Diablo 3 didn't work with newer drivers in one map, puting 13.12 .DLL files into Diablo 3 folder fixed the issue.
You can find .DLLs at mega.nz, just make sure you pick the right one, either direct x9 or direct x 10-12 version of the driver you need (depends on what version of direct x the game uses).
Oh yeah. That site is basically a forum that people put good deals they find. For example this one https://slickdeals.net/f/11535027-dell-inspiron-13-7375-2-in1-laptop-ryzen-7-2700u-13-3-1080p-ips-touchscreen-12gb-ddr4-256gb-ssd-vega-10-type-c-backlit-keyboard-win-10-749-99-more-fs-best-buy?src=featured-cat is just a link to a good deal on New Egg. People on slick deals will say whether they think it is a good deal or not and you can ask questions too.
Oh, it has its own listing now. It's not part of the package anymore.
Edit: I think you meant to say "it shows a free one and purchases" (not "a trial and purchases") - that's what confused me. :)
It is Tuesday, and a lot of people are at work/school during weekdays, also the majority of the population is at level 50 as it is really easy to reach that (20-40hrs of playtime). Although when I last leveled an alt there were a lot more than 2 people in the starting areas :o
The game is definitely cheaper than wow, subscription costs are the same (€13 for me) but you are also able to sub using in-game money by buying credd(30 days gametime, bought with ingame money). It takes about 5-20hrs of grinding to get the plat required to buy this. But if you play regularly you'll have the plat for it anyway without having to grind specifically for this.
At around level 15~ you get a quest which introduces you to different tradeskills (weaponsmith, armorer etc).
You can buy the game for $11/12 from g2a (This includes 30 days gamtime). https://www.g2a.com/wildstar-standard-edition-cdkey-proerder-eu.html
corpsecamper I've used a nostromo for 10+ years (also backed the Kings Assembly) and i know what you mean
I did find that the keybind I setup for "Directional Dash" did break out of it so that was better than nothing
Feral dps is probably closest to Stalker, which is very much like a rogue, but with tanking capabilities built in. Stalkers get a lot of sustain and some great utility, but primarily deal melee damage.
Your CPU is extremely weak for this game and is almost certainly bottlenecking the GPU. Because your CPU has to work hard to not even keep up, it may be overheating. 4 gigs of RAM can cause issues with the game. Windows 10 can cause issues with the game. There may be other points of failure in your system too like the power supply being not powerful enough.
Basically, there are a lot of things that can be going wrong with your system since it is on the borderline low end of being able to play the game, and using a new operating system which there may still be weird issues with.
Just in general, sysreqlabs is a good resource for this question, for any game really.
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri?itemId=11647
I played several months on a old AMD CPU with a Geforce GTX 440 and 4gb ram. with enough stuff on low, tweak the UI etc, i had about 20-30 FPS at any give time except capitol cities, which for me was doable.
Hi, I'd like to donate via your Patreon. I didn't understand your terminology. On your Patreon site, you say "Give $x per Doing our best" What does that mean? I wanted to make a one time donation and not recurrent. Sorry if this is just how Patreon works and I didn't understand. Thanks for the great work!
NP, but given the company you write for I thought you would have seen this at least. hahaha
Just to throw some numbers you way, so its not just a bunch of opinions.
Wildstar is still CPU bound like a lot of MMOs.
Your CPU: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i3-2100+%40+3.10GHz&id=749
CPU Mark is ~3600 vs top (obtainable) i7 pulls in ~11,000.
Video card - cannot find an entry for a straight 7700...it does not look like a "gaming" card. Full GPU list here http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
Like others have said Wildstar doesn't run particularly well on lower spec machines because it was built ahead for today's mid-high machines for longevity. For a $200 investment in CPU or GPU you would see a good boost in FPS. Good luck.
