I just wish it had given more weight to local thrift stores, consignment shops, etc. for buying items needed instead of just suggesting local shops.
I make all my own bread. At first I just kept reusing the old plastic bag my last purchased loaf came in, but that started wearing down. Loaves of bread don’t fit into zip lock bags well (plus I knew those would need replaced).
I was browsing amazon and saw this:
Rubbermaid Specialty Bread Keeper Food Storage Container , Red 1777190 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000E1VV4/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_guMKCbST6V013
Kind of put it in the back of my head, figured whatever let me see if the local thrift or consignment stores have a similar product before I commit.
Funnily enough, next day I found the EXACT same one at a local consignment shop a mile and a half from my home for $3.
I did the same for containers that I store dry beans, grains, and rice in. Local thrift shops (or reusing jars when they are big enough).
Pro tip-when removing labels (especially on plastic) soak the container first, then remove as much of the label as you can with your fingers.
After that, put some peanut butter on there and wait about half an hour. The glue will come off with a soft sponge or kitchen towel with ease, and it won’t scratch up the plastic containers.
Also never use a knife to try to remove more of the label because you’re trying to rush. Did that last week, broke the rim of the jar, sliced my thumb so bad I was worried I would need stitches.
This is the kit I got! I ended up getting a few more nipples from the same company, they worked great! He’s a year old and still using them while I’m at school part time. They also have the 8oz kit but we never went past 4oz bottles. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DYYHZY2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5kFsCbMJB83P9
Amazon claims this edition has a shipping weight of 2.3lbs, or 36.8oz.
If we assume 8oz of packaging, that's 28.8oz for the book.
28.8oz = 26.25 Troy Ounces (or "t oz." Precious metals are measured in this special ounce, not regular ones, by convention)
Current spot price of gold is $1,210.00/t oz (price in USD)
26.25t oz * $1210/t oz = $32,065.
general advice on this sub is that waste created because of medical purposes is fine. your health is more important that being 100% zero waste. You might consider wooden picks like these or here's a whole blog post on plastic free floss if you're willing to make the change to regular floss. I'd encourage you to try, it's not that big of a change and in making it a habit you'll have better oral health!
Bathroom ideas! I love it. I thought of doing something similar with those aluminum sauce cups for my restrooms. But shot glasses could work too!
I got this one when it was on sale for about $40 and it was super easy to install and I have very little plumbing experience. Basically all I had to know was how to turn off the water to my toilet.
My friends have a fancier one that required a bit more elbow grease, but tbh I really just dont see a huge difference besides a more "sleek" appearance and not as cold water.
This is the one I have. I got them on clearance at target so they were a lot cheaper, but if I ever needed to buy more I would buy this one again. It has a nozzle adjuster so you can position where the stream is and I have never had an issue with water spraying anywhere. My mom bought two different cheaper ones from amazon and they did not have the adjuster and they spray water all over the seat.
It doesn’t show in the pic but the shower caddy has rubber around the hanger at the top. It’s very secure and doesn’t really move around at all. Here’s the link to the shower caddy:

this:
Coffee is wonderfully strong and concentrated. The only thing you need to replace from time to time is the sealing ring. I‘ve done that twice so far, I use the system daily and have had it for over 15 years.
Soy in reasonable amounts doesn’t impact hormones much at all: Mayo Clinic says it doesn’t impact hormones with respect to breast cancer, a lit review from a nutrition department says isoflavones from soy don’t have any “feminizing effects” on men, and many more but I’m on mobile so it’s hard to format. The leading public health advocacy and research organizations have a general position that the amounts of phytoestrogen in soy products isn’t enough to do damage. Meanwhile, cow milk has mammalian estrogen, and the credible evidence I’ve seen doesn’t even suggest a real link between blood estrogen levels and the amount of cow estrogen you consume—this makes it pretty hard to believe that isoflavones in soy are impacting hormone levels more than actual mammalian hormones.
A quick google search will reveal that bar soap is better for the environment than any liquid soap: liquid is more costly to transport, you need more liquid soap to do the job, liquid soap is almost never actually soap but surfactants (evil depending on who you ask), more packaging, etc. When you finish a bar of soap, what's left over? Nothing!
Best choice? Make your own bars of soap or liquid soap from scratch using responsibly sourced oils and lye. It's actually fun and one batch of soap will last you a year!
Oh and bar soap is totes safe to share:

Very nice!
Handkerchief and napkin is somehow, to me, splitting hair. I usually just pack two different cotton "dish towels", one for food and one for whatever comes out of my face.
What I found super useful and versatile is a piece of furoshiki wrapping cloth. From a mat to packaging to a make-do towel... pretty handy.
I've been trying to get my dad to switch to a reusable water bottle for years. He buys SO many single use plastic ones, it's ridiculous. Last Christmas I tried these, and so far he's been using them! Turns out it's the shape he likes rather than the disposable aspect. Sometimes all it takes is translating something into the most direct zero-waste version, rather than changing everything about what you do.
I used to have a bath and body company that made these (in much larger batches.)
For small batches like this, you can get something like this holder -- https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Balm-Tube-Filling-Scraper/dp/B0192ILGYY
Make sure you fill each tube in one pour or else it'll crack. A funnel works well, just make sure its being poured quick and steady.
Also, add 1% vitamin E in there and you're basically making the best balm on the market :)
I bought four about 6 weeks ago and I love them!
You can freeze them, book them and microwave them. They can be washed in the dishwasher and stand upright when they are full. Along with my metal straws they are my favourite zero waste tool.
I had to go the Amazon route because we have no eco friendly stores in my small town. (Ireland is very behind the times).
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072K1NST1/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_k8QbAbH2N9CH8
Here are the ones I bought on Amazon although I'm sure there are lots of brands that could work well. It did come in a plastic wrapper but that was it. The travel bag is great to keep in my purse in case I need to change one while I'm out. I just button it up and swap it for a clean one. Wegreeco Bamboo Reusable Sanitary Pads https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077JMB8F3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_3mZ-CbH343TE4
I (and my family of 5) bought 2 packs of 36 white cotton hankies a few years ago and bought two of these to store them. We have one holder upstairs and one downstairs and it works great. We have a hamper for towels in the bathroom and just throw them in there to wash. Also my kids kept throwing them away accidentally at first and white was hard to notice in the trash, so we tie-dyed them all, which also has worked really well to hide stains.
Plant-based diets typically reduce the risk of both the first and second-leading cause of death in the U.S. (heart disease and cancer), and it's also known to reduce the risk as well as the mortality rate associated with Alzheimer’s Disease (6th leading cause of death) and Diabetes (7th leading cause).
There are low flow shower heads and restrictors, but I simply installed a 1/4 turn ball valve <this> at the head and can throttle the flow as low or high as I want. Couple that with one of those heads that inject air and it can be heavenly still with low flow. When I get in a shower with high flow / pressure now it's harsh.
I just installed a 3 way valve in the shower drain so I can directly discharge it to trees or into the septic tank.
What I am thinking of are wooden so they would biodegrade?
Edit - someone else has mentioned ice cream sticks, that is what I mean. Commonly called popsicle sticks here. Like the sort of thing in this Amazon link (I haven’t bought these ones, just an example :) ) - https://www.amazon.com/Sticks-Natural-Popsicle-Length-Crafts/dp/B07F367TCK/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=Popsicle+sticks&qid=1625132998&sr=8-5
oh my bad for jumping the gun. I use these and I’m satisfied with them :-)
edit: they’re also big enough for the boba I buy at the chinese grocer nearby which I like
I got this one. Installation was very straightforward and all the parts you need are included (although a few of the connections were a little finicky and needed some attention before they would work without leaking). Inexpensive and super useful! Ordering from amazon may not be ideal, but sometimes I think the benefits outweigh the cost over time. This can be used both as an actual bidet and it can also be used to clean cloth diapers. I'm really happy with it so far.
So about twice as expensive (retail) as standard pllastic forks. That's not bad for something that completely degrades that quickly.
If you can't sell the stuff you wanna get rid off, offer it for free on Craigslist/offerup/etc or on https://www.freecycle.org/ or in your local paper if there's a free section in the classifieds.
Another trick is if you have furniture, put it out by the street with a sign asking for $10. Someone will take it off of you in no time!
Literally marketed as wooden ice cream tasting spoons, I have a hard time thinking these would be too exspencive when purchasing from amazon let alone a wholesaler for a large order.

(I think this might be it...? Not sure how to post links, hopefully it works lol)
I got you. I have dandruff issues too, and this works for me. It’s worth a shot. I don’t have hard water though, so I can’t comment on that.
Plus PAPER CLINCH Compact Green Heavy Duty, Light, Staple Free Stapler (31251) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KYP2OYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BftIDb64N124T
That uses a different method, but if you look for Japanese staplers on Amazon you should find a few.
Safety razor! Here’s a link of the brand I’ve been using for almost two years and love. The blades themselves wear out after a couple of uses (especially if used on your legs) but they can be saved in an old metal can and then brought directly to your recycling facility (because they’re sharp and dangerous you shouldn’t ever just put them directly into your bin).
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LBFWJB6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_7NYCBb8FR9XXY
This one is fantastic and was voted the best by Americas test kitchen. Edit: im providing the most durable option amd you downvote me? Nice, way to encourage the community.
There are stretchy silicone bottle tops just for this purpose. Like there
Mine is similar to this one but has wings that fold out on the bottom. It really depends on your space and how many clothes you're going to be drying. I really like it. I got it over 2 years ago and it's still in perfect condition. I just store it in my linen closet when it's not in use. The one I had in Australia had the bars going the other way so I could put sheets on it. I couldn't find one like that here.
Edit: I bought mine 2.5 years ago. At the time I could only find the accordion style ones, which I don't like. I took to Amazon to find the style I prefer.
Well, I don’t know how zero waste it technically is, but I use one of those lint brushes with the felty red material. Like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Evercare-2300-Magik-Sided-Brush/dp/B00006AFDC
It has lasted me years.
It's neat but it reminded me of this reusable notebook and pens you can buy for $25 on Amazon right now https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GU6TINM https://youtu.be/U9Kas8l38Kc
Gets good reviews but I've never tried it. Ad copy says it can be used 5 times but reviewers have said they've gotten 14 uses.
Using 1 notebook seems better than using a stack of 14 and doesn't look like it would require more resources to produce. Although if you cary a smartphone I guess it's still a waste of resources if we want to go all the way down that rabbit hole.
Cool! I found some bee-free resuable plastic wrap here fyi.

I have been vegan for 5 weeks, vegetarian for 9 months after taking a course in conservation psychology. I believe there is a large overlap between zerowaste and veganism, as the animal agriculture industry is the leading cause of climate change, shown by the UN 2009 report. Therefore the best way to decrease ones footprint is to adopt a plant based diet.
The film Cowspiracy helped put things in perspective for me as I almost immediately became a vegetarian after watching it. For some people it's not that easy, and if there's a food that is not vegetarian/vegan that you're not ready to give up, then don't! A slow transition is best for your body anyways, and being partially plant based is far better than nothing at all. At the same time, don't be too afraid to eventually give up that food that you do love. I thought I would never make the transition from vegetarian to vegan, but one day I decided to try and give up cheese (only non vegan food I ate) and I haven't looked back. It's nice not to have a guilty conscious about the waste I was contributing to the planet by eating dairy.
To go from an average consumer to zero waste overnight is impossible, so making small lifestyle changes step by step has been my approach. I give anyone props who makes any attempt at zerowaste/veganism, being scared off by perfection is no reason not to begin the journey.
Awesome question! So they sell this “shield” and it’s like a big tri-fold clipboard. You clip the diaper onto it and use a sprayer to spray off the poop(: no poop goes into the wash(: here’s the shield sprayer we use
I mean a little mesh bag with a loop at the end for hanging. Mine has a suction cup, which is great for travel.
There are non-plastic versions but I can’t speak to the quality of them. If you’re extra crafty and very committed to no plastic (if so, bravo!), I bet you could also up-cycle an old loofa if you have one lying around
Edit to add: no, I’ve never had any issue with soap scum since it’s just sort of hanging midair from a hook. It’s both away from the shower head and away from the wall, which I think helps a lot.
Here’s a link to something similar I bought ages ago: 8pcs Soap Saver Pouch for Shower - Bamboo Charcoal Infused Soap Mesh Bag. Soap on a Rope. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MZ5LS13/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_TQHQ9KP32KCKHEXGSWR3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Tissue box bought off Amazon, size medium.
How about using a reusable floss holder handle like this with some type of eco floss such as silk floss that's compostable. You might also want to try a different water flosser, if it broke after a month it probably wasnt great to begin with. This aqua flosser is the one I have had for 2 years now and i find it to be very easy to use and my dentist says my gums look much healthier. You may still need to do some regular flossing though, I find the aqua flosser is really good for gums and light plaque buildup on the gum line but not great at getting like food stick in between teeth.

Great job! If you get really into it look for a lodge, cast iron duo pot/lid to get the best crust on that bread you could imagine.

My wife has been into this for a few years now, and we are never devoid of crispy, crackly bread!
The link on here was to an Etsy store I believe, but I was looking at Amazon for the ones I wanted:
Abeego, The Original Beeswax Food Storage Wrap - Set of Three, 7" 10" and 13" Natural Square Sheets https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00F67QS7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_aWFvBb9MH87MQ
Search “food wraps” on Amazon for different sizes and different brands.
We have similar ones for our Nespresso. We love them!! Saves so much money and waste
Refillable Coffee Capsules Cup... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WXPL35S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
FYI they’re only for the original line Nespresso machines
They should give you a refund, especially if they aren’t opened. I’ve been throwing 4period out the whole thread, but I can’t sing their praises enough.
Something like https://www.amazon.com/Preservation-Container-Versatile-Vegetables-Microwave/dp/B07F9MZ274
But I bought mine in Amazon Spain. There are plenty of them, if you look for “silicon bags”. Check out the reviews and choose 😊
I have cloth bags and ziplocks that I have been reusing. Many stores in my area don't/won't tare so I am okay with a small weight difference the empty bags are. Theses are the ones I got off amazon and they came in minimal packaging..I think only paper if I recall right.. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UIWBEG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just use a safety razor. I shave once.a week. A 20$ box of blades is enough to last me 80 years.
I bought this 6.5 years ago, and still use it every day. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001JPA3Y8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_k-VcGb1JBZFSK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
It's dishwasher safe, or if you're doing the same tea every day I honestly just dump the leaves and let it air dry most days.
Yup! There's a ton on amazon like these: https://www.amazon.com/Kollea-Stainless-Reusable-Chilling-Whiskey/dp/B00EWAWZAC/
I've never personally used any, so I can't compare the alcohol/water mix that presumably stays liquid to the energy absorption you get from a full phase change with plain water ice.
There are bags on amazon that come with a tear weight as well. here
Not sure if stores would accept the weight or not but I don’t see why they wouldn’t as the bags are pretty light to begin with.
I really like this one. It's not the cheapest but quality is fairly high. It's nice and heavy if you like heavier pens. And I've never had any leaking problems within the past year that I've owned it :)
Colgate makes one with fluoride. Colgate Anywhere Travel Toothpaste Tablets with Fluoride, Eco Friendly & Plastic Free Glass Jar, Fresh Mint - 60 count https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08KQMC5MJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_9TPY4A26ZSQV9CAKWZWR
they aren't really advertised as zero waste, but I recently bought a silicone back scrubber and I've had a silicone circle scrubber forever, I use them to wash in the shower. They're AWESOME. I don't have to toss shower brushes or poufs anymore because they're mildewed and impossible to fully clean, you can literally just boil silicone to sanitize it or throw it in your dish washer.
also try checking out r/BuyItForLife for quality products that will last you decades instead of breaking
I recommend hemp which is naturally antibacterial, sustainable, biodegradable, durable, washable. I like the Herbsack brand. I use their Geri bag. They are on Amazon as well. The 3-pack is a good deal.
Kikkerland Extra Small Mason Jar Stand-Up Zipper Storage Bags - Set of 6 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LY7Z655/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_XhvrBbAQEFX85
I got them from the same grocery store I got all these groceries at but they are also on amazon! This is the brand but I would double check the sizes
Found these on Amazon I had no idea they existed and always skipped over these jars at thrift stores. Definitely going to buy them now!

Shoe Goo is a product made specifically for this.
here is a non-affiliate amazon link but I suggest you buy it at a local spot. Most pharmacies or shoe repair places might have it. https://www.amazon.com/Repair-Adhesive-Fixing-Shoes-3-7-Ounce/dp/B002L9AL84
Not a regular here, but you can use reusable silicone cooking bags. Amazon has a few different kinds.
Making up for the bad link, here's an Amazon link to stainless steel Boba straws :-)
I am looking at these guys to be a supplier for my zero waste store. They have stainless steel that are being marketed as Boba straws.
Edit: I don't see that they sell them individually :-( Sorry.
I have a set of stainless steel boba straws that I found on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Drinking-Reusable-Smoothie-Cleaning/dp/B00SKQ40B6/
The only thing is that they can't break through the regular plastic lids, but that's not an issue if you bring your own cup :)
There are nicely sealable reusable silicone bags and tubes my SO uses for backpacking, and you can add boiling water right to the bag.
They're not uber light like a disposable, but not glass heavy either. Endlessly reusable.
Amazon has many choices.

In the UK these are fairly common, I have one that we use in the conservatory (sun room) and it dries really quickly.
We also have rotary driers for the garden which hold a couple of washing loads amazon link
And I live in an old house so we have one of these that goes over the cooker for use in the winter

This looks like it has the same pattern!
I found these produce bags from someone in this sub’s recommendation and I love them! The size variation is perfect and I like that the cashier can easily see what I’m trying to buy.
It takes a long time for that stuff to return, and with an increasingly growing population, we're using water faster than aquifers can recharge and other fresh water resources can replenish those stores, so we'll run our of fresh water. We could turn to desalination plants, but those are 1) not a true fix, 2) are hella expensive, and 3) probably produce a lot of waste in terms of energy at the very least.
The problem with every area deciding what they're going to use their water for is that then you have situations like the Ogalala Aquifer that spans across 8 states in the USA and each state has different water management boards with different regulations and rules and various population sizes using that aquifer as their main water source and you end up with the current situation where it being used 50 times faster than it can be recharged (I believe its 50 times, I need to check) and has depleted more in the past 5 years than it has in the previous 60 years. That said, its estimated to be depleted send turn some areas in the great plains region to become a desert in the next 50 years.
While it's 100% a water management issue, I wouldn't say that discludes it from being an environmental issue as well, just a specific type of environmental issue

Ahh didn’t realize I was using a vintage model lol.
Did come across this which makes sense for the velcro. Happy mopping!:)
Target doesn't sell good shovels. You can get good enough garden shovels at big box home improvement stores. You can get fancier garden equipment through your local plant nurseries, your favorite seed company catalogs, and also online (ex: I bought my favorite fork from Amazon.
Seconding the medical stuff, toilet paper, ball canning jars.
I found period panties too light for anything but the last day when I think my period is over. I do wear them with reusable pads at night for an extra sense of security...and because I spent a fair amount of money on them.
I picked some reusable pads from Amazon (link below) and when I wear them it’s like fluffy angels are coming down to rest in my panties and allow me to have the closest experience to a tampon commercial I’ll likely ever have. If you haven’t tried them, you are MISSING OUT. So soft. So luxurious. I canceled my Kotex subscribe-and-save and just ordered an extra set of reusables. The local women’s shelter will be getting most of what’s left of my stash.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4TDJBM/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_0yaQCb6AAHWG6
There are also plenty of reusable ones available, such as these from Amazon!
You can buy them in bulk off alibaba for just $0.42 apiece. As with all things alibaba, caveat emptor.
One of these can refill multiple bottles. https://www.amazon.com/Softsoap-Liquid-Aquarium-64-Ounce-Refill/dp/B00CF40WGG/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=liquid+soap+refill&qid=1626296166&sr=8-5
I tried them as well but they don’t hold as many mL as my 4period ones.
I was concerned about that as well so I got the wand-type instead of the seat-type. Plus I wanted more control over the direction and flow.
I use these and find they work well! They say machine washable but I find they last better if you hand wash them.
African Black soap is an amazing staple to have in your skin care regimen (if you are not already using it!). It is gentle enough for sensitive skin but is very good at cleansing deep into pores. You can buy bars online that come wrapped in paper packaging. Amazon is a good resource.
I have skin issues too that I am slowly sorting out remedies for but in order to maintain my current routine I also use products in plastic type packaging for now /:
My saving grace is a brand I stumbled upon in my local super market called Alaffia. They are an all natural brand with vegan and cruelty free products, only made with fair trade ingredients in domestic packaging. What I like most about their products is that they are simply made and dont have a million ingredients. They are gentle and effective too. They are also local to my home state (I live in Washington state) so I feel better about the products I do buy for now. An even better bonus is the fact that they support womens health care in the nation of Togo, a bicycle project to help those in need transportation, and a variety of other foundations. You can find their brand on amazon here:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HUDTVP0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HkRLybXV02NAQ
OR on their website:
I've had great luck with my anker bluetooth earbuds. I got them on amazon, they came in a little cardboard box, and I think I've had them for a bit over a year at this point. Plus they're only 30 bucks, sound great, etc. No complaints. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016Y8XJCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_qbP3zb0X8XN8K
They make silicone freezer bags that can be washed and re-used. They're available on amazon (but seem to be somewhat pricey). They're on my wish list for my next step to remove all plastic waste from my life.
I don't use these personally, but have seen others who do. I decided against them for a few reasons:
For carrying meat home, I use a lockable stainless steel container I found at Goodwill or a large Tupperware-like container also from Goodwill. I linked an example from Amazon. Eventually, I'd like to upgrade to these bowls so I can get larger cuts of meat, but they're expensive. I have Mason jars and Pyrex for other leftovers. I look for items from these brands whenever I go to Goodwill and have a pretty decent collection.
twist sponges. the one that has a side with a loofah works well. i haven’t used the one that is all white colored but they feel just like plastic sponges
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083PZIGU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zkq3Bb88HXFBK sale on amazon. not sure of stores
Very clean feeling after brushing, nice plastic free packaging.
purchased on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QKFBB1C?pf_rd_p=2d1ab404-3b11-4c97-b3db-48081e145e35&pf_rd_r=0KB4B3PDWB5ZH98DY7CE
I bought mine on amazon. Reusable cotton rounds: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GX8QLV5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VXI2CbS2GK67N - not a fan of the mit things. Rounds work okay.
A lot of people DIY them from fabric, I wish I would have done that
Tip: keep specific makeup ones and specific other ones- makeup kinda stain them and may leave residue. Wish I known that
Here is an amazon link to reusable cloth bags. The true zero waste option would be to save small cloth bags (which lots of products/gifts come in) or sew your own from old cloth like pillow cases. i like these because they are machine washable. These come with the tare weight written on, but are very light so it's okay when the cashier doesn't know how. My Whole Foods also sells mesh versions in-store, but that's meant for big produce.
Not traditional ramekins for sure, but I think the term has been somewhat stolen and used to refer to dipping cups. Or I may be using the term overly broadly.
Amazon does have these listed as ramekins, amongst other names:
At any rate, definitely better to use these.
I have had this brush for several years, it's holding up really well and is made to be an intergenerational item... https://www.amazon.com/Bristles-Hairbrush-Desert-Breeze-Distributing/dp/B01GIUOUOM/ref=sr_1_11?crid=1HTR87P30C7XZ&dchild=1&keywords=boar+bristle+hair+brush&qid=1600484474&sprefix=boar+bristle+%2Caps%2C243&sr=8-11
I think you have a few options here:
1) Dissolvable Mason Jar labels. There's some waste here, but it is a good product.
2) if you have a craft re-use store near you that sells second hand markers, that would be cool.
3) you could create mason jar tabs with paper/cardboard/whatever and string that you take off when you clean the jars. Sorta like these metal versions you see for decantors:

Hope this helps
I recommend getting a cheap, cold-only model, and learning to love the icy blast! I've been the proud owner of this $25 model for the last four years, and I love it.
The expensive fancy models have too many bells and whistles, which means too many additional (sometimes electronic) components that can fail. And in my opinion warm water models aren't worth the added cost and installation trouble.
Yes, you get a blast of cold water on your backside, but you get used to it quickly, and now I find it quite refreshing, especially in the summer. It's cut my toilet paper use down to about 10% of what it used to be, and you can really tell the difference in cleanliness. Now I hate pooping away from home, and feel like a barbarian when I have to rely on dry paper again.
I've had this recipe sitting around from a queue of things to try when I had a bath and body company.
Use a double boiler to mix the coconut oil and beeswax, add the essential oil (mix), add in the corn starch and baking soda.
This will set at room temp. Make sure you fill the stick in one pour so it doesn't crack.
For the stick, either reuse an old one (make sure you wind it all the way down first), or buy some from amazon (like these -- I haven't tried these, though.)
For oils, I'd suggest trying something simple like lavender. Tea tree would be great, but its a pretty strong scent.
Its a similar process for making your own chapstick, actually.
If you're making chapstick, use something like this and pour each stick in one pour so it doesn't crack.
Though not related to zero waste, Marie Kondo discusses a similar problem in The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. How does one convert the people around them to a healthier lifestyle? She recommends one doesn't evangelize it at all. Let your partner see the difference you're making, and over time, they'll join.
I suggest starting with Google My Maps (mymaps.google.com) over regular Google Maps. It is very easy to use. You can add points directly to the map (either point and click or use Google search) or load known places (with a lat, long or address) from a file, and you can create a data table for categories, e.g., what the store has available zero waste or if taring your containers is allowed. Once finished, these maps are very easy to share and embed on a website. Just like with other Google Drive tools, you can invite others to collaborate on this map. This tutorial might be helpful.
I also highly suggest this tool because you can export your work as a KML/KMZ. Then, you can convert the data to another data type (shapefile, GeoJSON) for use in another mapping tool later on (ArcGIS Online, Leaflet) if desired.
I work with and teach GIS, so you can DM me any questions you might have :)
You could check https://www.freecycle.org/ in your area to see if anyone is giving away any pots; you could also post on there saying you’re looking for some. All sorts of interesting stuff end up on there.
Try 4period from amazon. Never had a leak and I’ve stopped using pads and tampons. While I was grabbing the link I realized they have a 20% discount on the five packs!
So there are these essential oil things that you can put on your lightbulbs that use the heat of the lightbulb to make your house smell good. Basically it is a metal ring that you drop the oil onto.
You could probably use a small canning jar ring for the same purpose. Not sure how great it will work with LED lights since they do not get as hot as incandescent light bulbs. Do not put the oil directly onto the bulb. A wooden clothespin might work also if it is attached to the shade frame near the bulb. Check to make sure the clothespin will absorb the oil before you try it.
You can use essential oils, perfume, anything with a concentrated smell.

Seeing as these are barely better environmentally speaking than the majority, I wouldn't really bother for the price. Pregnancy tests in general are ridiculously overpriced. I recommend buying bulk online:
for the same price as 1 of these generic strips you can buy 50-100 strips with the same level of accuracy. Use the saved money to invest in real environmental action
> I tried for MONTHS to find one with a butterfly opening!
Wilkinson rebranded a Weishi 9306-P and I'm very happy with it.
not quite the same thing, you're asking for, but fulfills the exact same purpose?
I use the teavana perfectea brewer, sadly the company went under and these are out of production but you can still find some for cheaper on ebay.
I LOVE mine, I've use it daily for like three years. add tea leaves and hot water in the top, then set it down on top of your mug to drain the tea out of the bottom and strain it. I consistently have not a single tea leaf debris in my cups the mesh is so fine. To clean just open the top and swish water in it and dump it out. You can put it through the dish washer, and I soak it in some white vinegar if it starts getting tea stains to make it look brand new.
if you go a lot and can justify a purchase, how about a pie carrier? like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I40TYEK/ref=psdc_13880481_t1_B005178PE0. There are other options on amazon as well. Note that I haven't used it.
