5in is currently $92 and what I would buy if I was ordering today
FYI: If you add every piece listed to your cart on Midway (Adding the reloading manual, but minus the optional powder thrower), the total comes to $299.16 with shipping.
The 2 most expensive items are the $60 hand priming tool, and $72 case trimmer ($132 of $299).
You can get the RCBS hand priming tool for $48 on Amazon, and there are cheaper case trimmers (though I doubt they're better).
Yeah, you have to order those screws seperate. I think I bought a 10 pack on amazon for like 3-5 dollars. I can check what I have at home if you want? I wish they weren't seperate but, maybe with enough requests AP willl start putting them on the lower for you? They don't include them with the upper either unfortunately.

I started buying variable timing crush washer packages off of Amazon and never looked back. They come in a 4 pack and each one will let you get 90 degrees further. Pick the one that gets you to 180 or 270 and torque that one down. Makes it so easy. As for a full rotation I personally wouldn't do it but it would probably survive.

Google is your friend:
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_difference_between_an_centerfire_and_a_rimfire_rifle
Answer: The difference between rimfire and centerfire rifles would be the type of cartridge they use.
Rimfire cartridges are an older design. In a rimfire cartridge, the priming compound (impact-sensitive substance that produces the spark to ignite the gunpowder) is located inside the hollow rim of the cartridge case. The firing pin crushes the rim against the chamber mouth to fire the cartridge.
In a centerfire cartridge, the priming compound is located inside a small metal cup called a primer, which is made separate from the casing. The cup is inserted into a hole in the center of the base of the cartridge. The firing pin strikes the primer crushing it against an internal anvil to produce the spark.
Rimfire cases are made of soft brass so that the firing pin can crush the rim. However, this makes them unsuitable for higher chamber pressures. Centerfire cartridge brass is much harder, because only the primer cup needs to be soft.
With the switch from black powder to smokeless powder, higher chamber pressures became commonplace and rimfire cartridges became largely obsolete.
The most common rimfire cartridge in use today is .22LR, popular for target shooting and pest control. Due to low cost and low recoil it is probably the most popular cartridge in the world.
I'll just toss my $0.02: Check out Palmetto State Armory for some rockin' deals on 10 PMAGs that often come effectively "free" when you buy something else (like a red dot sight or 1000 rounds of ammo).
Caveat: Lots of people have reported credit card issues after buying from them (I have not after a half dozen purchases). If you're worried your credit card doesn't have fraud protection built-in, a site like privacy.com can help shield you from those kinds of things (for free).
You can grab those primary arms optics on Amazon. Here's the $90 Micro.
Really worth it in my opinion. You can get other brands for around $20 or go china knockoff for less. Since its not a load bearing or critical part the China version would be fine.

Hey it’s probably your first ar that’s cool don’t discouraged because people tell you to buy the most expensive stuff off the bat. and then you would still have free picatinny for a Red Dot or just used the iron sights and save weight.
the detachable iron sight came from a period where we got picatinny but we didn't quite want to get rid of the carry handle and instead made it worthless just to hold on to the past. that period has ended.
I had the same exact problem. The solution was a mount that Arisaka makes for the surefire scout because it has the same exact footprint as the protac. All you have to do is remove the flashlight from the mount and install it to the mount which is MLok. The catch is that the mount, which is a 1x1 piece of anodized aluminum with four wholes and is slightly bent, is it’s like $37. But there is another one that I’ll link below that os the same thing for $16. All you’d be doing is changing the base of the flashlight.

> The South African mercenaries carry an unusual Colt CAR-15 variation that does not appear to be a factory-standard gun. They have the receivers of M16A2s (which would normally suggest Colt Model 725s), but they also have 10-inch barrels with GAU-5/XM177-style flash hiders. They were most likely custom-assembled for the film from the parts of various AR-model rifles. It should be noted that similar rifles can be seen in Black Hawk Down, and Bapty & Co. supplied the weapons for both this film and that one. Besides their unusual combination of features, the mercenaries' CAR-15s also feature camouflage paint and accessories such as Surefire 660 weaponlights and M68 Aimpoint scopes. Archer uses one at the end of the film after killing its owner, buying time for Solomon and Dia to escape before succumbing to his wounds.

I'm not sure if you're planning to get both a vortex strikefire and a vortex cantilever mount (the strikefire comes with its own mount), but on my last build I saved like $40 by getting a Division G4 30mm mount off Amazon instead of the Vortex 30mm mount which I used on my first build. You'll probably have to secure it to the integrated swivel on the FSB, but an upgrade to an mlok qd mount like on your stock will make life a lot easier.

Lol. I gave up the pc building hobby ages ago. I’m neurotic and was constantly upgrading parts and wasting my money. Honestly a laptop suits my needs a lot better and I’ve been using the same MacBook Pro for 7 years now (purchased from a pawn shop for $1100).
As far as headphones go. I’m unusually cheap with those. I prefer the apple $20 ones to most I’ve ever tried. I have 4-5 pairs of those that I need stashed in the office, the car, reloading room, etc.
I have one pair I “splurged” on with noise cancelling because of flights for work, and even those are pretty cheap:

One piece cantilever/offset mount.
Burris PEPR is about the best one on the low end (~$60 if you shop around). I'm partial to the Vortex 2" Offset Cantilever mount (~$80). Neither are all that light. If that's what you're looking for, Aero makes some good options (~$80).
Primary Arms has some private labeled offset cantilever mounts for $60. I have no experience with them, but it's probably worth a gamble given PA's reputation.

Video - HD. I messed up the video by having the mic not plug in correctly, and the second time I didn't have a sharp focus. Still decent, but the audio would have been cleaner.
Not claiming this rifle has seen the level of use that some instructors or even more avid users have down range. However, ARs are pretty magnificent rifles that get bad reputations of being unreliable or needing to be cleaned a lot.

I haven't been reading /r/ar15 for more than a couple months but I've definitely gotten that impression.
I sometimes get the feeling that I'm trespassing at the country club.
And I also get the impression that some of these guys would try to explain, with a straight face, why you should only hook your TV up with MONSTER brand cables. Because the price totally means it's quality and the salesman at the fancy electronics store said you need to 24 karat gold connections to get the best quality out of your digital signal.
If there's one thing I've learned in life its that the phrase <em>"you get what you pay for"</em> is the sign of a sucker. In reality price rarely correlates with quality. Research is how you get the best product. Research like what the OP was attempting to do.

Here's some other sources, besides the good assaultweapon.info:
http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/39165/assault-rifle
And any news stories that call them "assault rifles" are breaking AP guidelines.
>The Associated Press Stylebook says that the media should differentiate between an "assault rifle," which has a fully automatic mode, and an "assault weapon," which is semiautomatic and "not synonymous with assault rifle.”
>So, according to AP, while "assault weapons" can be rifles, they are not technically "assault rifles."

I guess Marcus Luttrell's team isn't apart of an actual community..
I have an AAC 762-SD and I use it on everything including .308, 300 blackout, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 Grendel, and 5.56. Getting a quick detach suppressor makes it trivial to swap it around on the various guns if you have the proper muzzle devices installed on them.
Here's a video a friend and I made to illustrate how it works with each caliber. Turn the volume up loud to tell the difference.
>Well considering that the ATF is all kinds of screwed up on how they classify anything
You still don't get it.
Everyone defines "assault rifle" as select-fire intermediate cartridge rifle. Both pro and anti-gun groups. The ATF happens to define assault rifles as machine guns because, well, they fit the common definition(one trigger pull sends multiple bullets downrange). It isn't "made up" in the sense that the term assault weapons is(although I've heard UK riflemen use "assault weapon" and "assault rifle" interchangeably, probably because there is no independent definition of "assault weapon" in the UK like there in several American states).
If you still don't believe it, even though you've clearly not done your own research, go ask your armorer. He might be able to tell you.
I have this Stack on although I got it for $100 from Walmart and wouldn't recommend paying that price.
We don't have kids, so I don't have to worry so much about my guns being out when we're home, but the AR and my other guns other than the shotgun and pistol stay locked up but on Friday, I had been in the safe, so the keys were in the door.

I grabbed a 30 ish dollar one from Amazon . Just make sure you have weights to hold it down or to properly mount it on a bench/ table. Needs to be fixed properly so you can torque. 35-60 ftlbs for barrel nut, 40 for castle nut. 35ish for muzzle device + some rockset (rockset especially if you are using a qd muzzle device for a potential suppressor)
Here's the exact one I ordered vice
> I’m looking to get a light next but out of all the brands I’m not sure what is best.
You got a bunch of options in the $100~$150 price range. Just depends upon what your goals are.
If you want the modern tactical looking stuff at the lowest-price possible, aim for the Streamlight ProTac HL-X flashlight. This runs for $100-$125 and includes a pressure pad. If you want that neat offset look where the light sits at the 9 o'clock position, magpul makes a polymer offset mount that Streamlight can directly screw into for ~$20. If you'd like a more secure pressure pad system you'll want the LCS from Cloud Defensive which is basically an improved mount for $40.
Otherwise, Streamlight also makes the TLR-1 HL series, this can mount at the 12 O'clock position in front of your BUIS and is all around great and reliable.
There's also several Olight varieties, and while Reddit and Social Media shit all over these, there's actually a bunch of cops and security guys who prefer these over the Surefire X300 because it's so easy to recharge. YMMV depending upon if you want to catch flak from the internet over your flashlight.
Amazon has some cheap extractor kit that makes life super easy.
If you are shooting it at the range then use some range bags: https://www.amazon.com/Tactics-Portable-Shooting-Range-Rifle/dp/B07YYJCJVQ?th=1
They provide a more stable platform on a range.
Bipods arent necessary for most people, most people dont know how to properly use them, cheap bipods suck, good bipods are very expensive and if you really dont NEED them they are just extra weight on your gun.

As far as lights, Modlite, Cloud defensive, Surefire, Streamlight, in that order. Pick one that fits your budget.
So here’s your easy solution which you should always do before making a post:
Google “mlok long screw”
DD fixed front. folding rear, currently trying out this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KBDYNGF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_XWTFCDZQ8YHXNVWYVEFA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
optic is eotech xps2 on a 11.5. this is my primary home defense with a CD mini rein. if you switch the rein on my red dot disappears(depending on setting) but the fixed front is still visible.
jury is still out on the MI rear, I think I like it
Krylon Ultra Flat Olive is supposed to be very close to Magpul ODG, depending on the furniture you’re going to use this may be your best bet.
The most important part of painting is prep. Completely remove any grease with degreaser, remove any particles of dust etc with a compressor or canned air, and have plenty of light when you spray. Doing several very light coats will always look better than one thick one.
Worst case scenario, Jasco aerosol paint remover works great and will not affect the anodizing if you want to redo it. Just spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, scrub with a nylon brush and spray it off with a hose. Usually only needs to be repeated once or twice and you’re back to a fresh canvas
Honestly they will probably just send you another mount, they won't even ask for the old one. I broke 2 mounts, both my fault for over torquing them. Took a few pictures and they sent new ones no returning the old ones, even put in a bunch of swag each time. So in my case Aero's service was great just like their products, needless to say I buy their stuff whenever I can. Note: those ultralight mounts do not need to be torqed very hard, use thread lock and they only need to be hand tight, it will hold I promise. This scope leveling kit will save you a lot of hassle. The scopes like to rotate in those mounts when you tighten them down.
I toss 3-5 of these in each ammo can to be safe. Not scientific at all but, it works and I feel good about it.

A few weeks ago I put out a feeler to see if people were interested in these and if so, what a fair price would be.
I've figured out packing, postage, and the additional hardware needed to use this stock.
I'm asking $25 shipped for each. I've got paypal set up at:
This includes:
The Stock
1/2x28 Retaining Screw
4-40 set screw
If you're not familiar with AR15s, read the following.
This stock will only work with the Rifle (A2) tube. It will not fit on a Carbine (adjustable) tube.
To use a Rifle tube, you normally need a rifle buffer (longer) and a rifle spring due to the extra length. If you really want to keep your existing carbine buffer and carbine spring, you can simply install a spacer. I can include a delrin spacer for $5.
It is common for the endplate to hold the rear takedown spring and detent in place. With the Rifle (A2) tube used the way I have, this is not possible. The alternate way to hold this detent and spring in place is with a 4-40 set screw. If you have a nicer receiver, this may be tapped for you already. If not, you can get a 4-40 tap for $5 on amazon.
Can you ar15 fit in your saddle bag when broken down? Not sure on sizes but you are looking at a pretty big bag either ways most likely. So i am just going to suggest wrapping the upper and lower separately in towels and calling it a day. You could check amazon for something like this. Usually discreet or takedown will be the word you need to use to find a bag hopefully.
If you have Amazon Prime, theres a bunch of options on there for small little containers of 33ms, no need for a large tube, and you'll get it in 2-days with Prime.
I got this one, in the 1/4oz version. I've used it for 3 builds so far, and i still have a lot of it.
Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 2.
625 lumens. It's bright as heck and comes with a pressure plate.
$100 on Amazon. Don't waste your money with other overpriced brands.
For less messy amazon links you can extract the part after "/dp/" in
and make it:
BEEP BOP
Plz send any recommendations via PM
Since I only paid $599 for the gun, I wanted to stay on budget so I got this from amazon on sale for $20
X-Aegis 2 in 1 Rifle Bipod 6" to 9" Spring Return Sniper Hunting Rifle Bipod Sling Swivel Mount, Adjustable Height, Rail Mount Adapter Include https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H8SCFIG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xj2tzbKDRNAX9
(I would normally go for the much more expensive GG&G, but can't justify it for this toy)
I have a compact Bulldog case from amazon.
I can fit two 16" carbines and a mag or two in a single case. Pretty handy if you don't mind breaking down the rifle.
It's a TekMat and they're pretty neat.

It's this one for $35 on Amazon. I have it screwed down onto an Ikea table in my office and I've used it to help with lower and upper builds with a plastic clam shell and mag-block and haven't had any trouble with it. For the price, it's great if you're just building or working on a few rifles each year.
Here you go! And YES these are "mil spec" as they are the same targets I shoot at when my unit qualifies with our M4 rifles, so buy them, haha. ^(Assuming you don't mind shopping thru amazon)
Just about anything should hit at those distances.
Just get a decent inexpensive optic. Like maybe 1-6X on sale or blem.
Feeding it costs more. Wolf gold is about as good as it gets for decent cheap 223 ammo.
Maybe invest in a $70 cheap spotting scope from Amazon to see if you're hitting anything.
here’s one from amazon. If you don’t like polymer, you can get it in aluminum. Comes in different sizes too based on what you’re wanting to attach to the rail.
I haven't used them myself, but there is these:

Check out the middle picture on the amazon link (same product)
I dont remember where I bought mine but below is the Amazon link to the same product. Holds two rifles, mags, and spare room for other stuff.

Here's a link to the camera on Amazon.
You'll need to download an app for it to work on your phone or computer, but it's all in the instructions.
I run a DD 14.5 carbine barrel with a LP gas block(non adjustable) and it work great! Set it up with the right buffer and IMO it runs just as smooth as a mid length gas system. Edit: check out my build for parts info https://imgur.com/a/lGrPZ
Have you looked at the saber tube?. Whole thing only weighs 6.9 oz.
If it's gonna be a beater gun you may want to consider a more robust stock. I like the battlelink minimalist stocks. You can get it for $30 with the code SPORT25 and it only weighs 5.8 oz.
Here is a Strikefire 2 for $162. So that's $18 right there.
Price out everything that he's listed at the cheapest you could buy it for on your own. Once you've added that up, that's your 100% baseline. Offer 60-70% of said baseline. It's not uncommon to pad your numbers when listing prices, knowing full well people will negotiate. Try to stay on the lower end of that 60-70%, because he's going to counter and you should settle around 70% at the highest.
Remember, odds are that you don't get a warranty on everything and you have no idea how this product has actually been treated. All you know is what a stranger tells you.
