I have two types. One I'll call my at home storage that fits all of them but is a bit clunky. The others are single battery covers that I use when traveling on airplanes.

Another pro tip is to number your batteries and use them in sequence. That way they should get even usage out of them and will degrade at similar rates.
Nice edit!
For those wondering which software to use, Lightroom and Photoshop are obviously the best photo editors, and Lightroom has the bonus of also being an excellent photo and video library manager. You can subscribe to the Photographer's bundle version of Creative Cloud for $9.99USD/month. It includes Lightroom, Photoshop, Lightroom Mobile and more.
There is also a great, new editor called Affinity Photo and it's quite affordable ($50USD). It has some awesome features and can do a lot of what Photoshop can do. It's now available for Windows as well as Mac.
However, most photo apps can do a decent job of this. GIMP, Apple Photos, etc. can all pull some detail out of shadows and adjust white balance, etc.
Didn't want the leather DJI bag. Wanted to be able to pack the Mavic, controller, and extra battery in a carry-on backpack. Found this one on Amazon, not crazy about the green, but there are other colors for a few more dollars.
It has an acceptable amount of padding with a bit more on the bottom. I has two Velcro dividers that I used to be sure there is no pressure on the control sticks, as well as more padding on the gimbal side. I put the charger and cables in a Ziplock to keep all the cords tamed. There is room for more padding or more accessories. It has a little handle on the top. Zippers are good enough. For $10, I'm happy.

I'd recommend something capable of decent color grading. The free version of DaVinci Resolve (by Blackmagic design) is great and is actually a nice editor too. It's available for Windows and Mac.
Here's an easy way to do it.
I'm not sure what files you get from the Mavic it self put if you have a panorama, go to this website and upload your image. Then go to Image>Flip Canvas Vertical and Filter>Polar Coordinates and press enter.
Easy as that!
Thanks! I found this Sopiguard Skin on Amazon for $15.99 (link below) took me about an hour and a half! Not too bad..
Only complaint I have is that there wasn't any explanation of which sticker goes where; I started with the big ones and worked my way down.
SopiGuard Black Carbon Fiber Precision Edge-to-Edge Coverage Vinyl Skin Controller Battery Wrap for DJI Mavic Pro https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1WGHGX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_cZBha1i2hiL6W
Sounds like interference. Could be too close to a cell tower. Could be other 2.4/5GHz interference (in general, too close to packed residential like an apartment building). Or... looking at the solar forecast (specifically the K Index), today was 4s with a 5 high, which is a probably-shouldn't-fly kinda day.
I use Solar Activity on my Android phone...
That's right it's the Punch Bowls! That's only the lower ones, I heard there's some cooler ones another mile up from where this footage was.
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/santa-paula-canyon-and-punch-bowls-trail
I had started using DaVinci Resolve, but I was getting a bunch of "You have reached your limitations" warnings and then a bunch of watermarks appeared all over the app. I've since switched to using Blender (https://www.blender.org) until I can afford Final Cut Pro. It has a bit of a learning curve, but Blender works really well for basic color grading and editing.
I filmed in D-Cinelike. Custom settings of -3 | -2 | 0 and used the "Summer LUT" by Christian Mate Grab, you can get his LUTs here. https://sellfy.com/christianmategrab
After applying that LUT, I adjusted the settings for each clip to make it look proper :) Hope that helps!
For the control sticks I found a cheap solution sold on Amazon. The landing gear is probably robust enough. I'm going to leave the props on to protect the pegs, but overall the bag is poorly designed for the mavic.
I bought these. Once from AliExpress... waited a month and a half with no shipping updates. Cancelled my order and got them prime from Amazon, They're great! They now fit in my shoulder bag I hike with very well protected. My only gripe is that they smell horrible, but whatevs.
Thanks!!
This was the first time I have REALLY tried to push for the holy grail of 1/50 shutter and 24p film. I only shot this at 1080p because I left my 64GB card home XD. I would probably shoot it in 4K if I had the chance again (alas, vacation is over).
In order to meet that shutter speed I did use ND filters. I grabbed these off of Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NAU4X1V/
I actually swapped filters twice as the sun came up. Started with the Polarizer, then ND8 then ND16 as it got brighter. The filters really did a LOT to improve the footage -- I was impressed.
I ordered mine through amazon, it was roughly $80. You can find installation tutorials on YouTube.
Not true. You can buy the replacement motor unit here for as little as $80. I had to do this myself when my gimbal experienced the same exact issue, even did the installation on my own.
Not true. You can buy the replacement motor unit here for as little as $80. I had to do this myself when my gimbal experienced the same exact issue, even did the installation on my own.
Seems like a good deal. I think I paid 1300 for mine.
I personally hate the soft case. I instantly moved to a hard case. Just my preference tho
Very nice! That tracking shot around the corner, thumbnail shot, took a LOT of faith!
I just did a Maven Tutorial video on the Track Me function. I used this controller mount, $20.99 on Amazon, that worked very well. The are a few shots in the video of the mount in use. I don’t get any affiliate $ from Amazon, just thought you might find it used
Do note that they are selling at a premium.
It's not a problem that can be "fixed" so much as a feature all cameras experience due to physics. In this instance, the lens flare is distracting and detracts from the video, but in professional settings, lens flare is often desired and it's thought to add to the image. Video games often add fake lens flare and movies occasionally add it in in post. You can also remove it in post, especially something as small as this one, but really, the best option is simply change the angle of capture to reduce the likelihood. The fact that it's more common on the Mavic 3 is simply because the lens is more complex (better) and has more internal glass parts now.
i agree. if you live in the USA than keep an eye out for black Friday and cyber Monday deals. something like this. https://slickdeals.net/f/10663928-dji-mavic-pro-drone-with-4k-hd-camera-dji-certified-refurbished-unit-779-fs-ebay-daily-deal?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1
Yes you can. Not it is not. It will only put out as much current as the device will draw. But there are better options:
Amazon Basics 100W Four-Port GaN... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087MDYP24?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Costs less (at least in the US) and can put out more current so you can charge, for example, batteries and a phone at the same time.
Just buy new bud. It's around $1000 right now for bundle on Slickdeals. Go to Slickdeals.net and search for Mavic look at the most recent deal posts. Not worth spending ~1000 on something you know no history about.
EDIT: I ran to my computer to get the link for you: https://slickdeals.net/f/10474620-dji-mavic-pro-extended-flight-kit-w-extra-battery-charging-hub-case-64gb-card-50-buydig-gift-card-for-1019-shipped
Looks perfectly exposed! One favourite piece of (free) software I love to use with Lightroom is the Nik Collection . Has some more "punchy" colour presets and (IMO) better noise reduction than what is provided in LR.
Get yourself a videoeditor on PC. I can't imagine how tedious it would be to edit on a phone. There are plenty of free options that are actually pretty good, like Kdenlive.
Yes, record 2.7K or 4K and downsample for best results, if you 1080p is what you're going for. I use Kdenlive, it's a free video editor for Linux and there's a beta for windows that works quite well.

Not sure if these exist for the Pro, but I have them of for my Mini 2 and they saved me from an unintentional “splashdown”... Plus the Mini 2 does great in the wind. The Pro is way to big unless you’re closer to the “pro” side of drone piloting Mini 2 Floatation pontoons
I bought the kit from SkyReat- ND with CPL Filter Kit for Mini2 -
I’ve only tried the first 2 ND filters and the results were as good as I could expect. They’re a bit tricky to click on, but I think that’s a result of how filter makers have to content with the design of the camera.
These were on Amazon for a while: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077SFLYW6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I haven't had problems with them in my 6+ flights with each. They charge and signal just like the regular ones.
The polarpro nd filters are amazing. I actually have a set of ND8, ND16, and ND32 that I'd be willing to sell to you. I bought them at the end of June, but then got a Mavic 2 so I won't need them anymore. I've only used them a few times and got them on Amazon. PM me if you're interested and I'll send you pics or whatever else you may want to see.
Here is a link from Amazon for the entire assembly. https://www.amazon.com/Vibration-Absorbing-Gimbal-DJI-original/dp/B072B75NNX $10. I think you can replace just the metal plate by taking the rubber band parts off of the ears of the mount. Use a very small metal hook tool. The picture from the Amazon link will make more sense when you see it.
I recently bought a Lowepro ProTactic backpack. I can fight my Mavic Air 2, all the batteries, charger, controller, plus my DSL, lenses, and a laptop. It's the best backpack I've ever had for this type of stuff and can't recommend it enough

Order the correct part and replace it I guess.... Good luck. Otherwise they will probably cost you a fair amount from lens rental. How much longer do you have it for?
I have a Smartree hard shelled case that can hold almost all my stuff for my Mavic Fly More combo. The zip pocket on the lid is super handy for filters and extra props. Holds the drone snuggly and I'm happy about how sturdy it is.

You can get the arm you need off amazon or somewhere online. There are good videos online and youtube that will show you step by step how to fix yourself. Just would need the right screwdrivers. You could fix this for under $50
This might not be your style but I snagged this one when it had a 20% off coupon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GSWGNJX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_2NbZp2Cb9hHra
I use this for longer days or when I want to throw it in the trunk of my car / have a place to take off of. It feels solid and seems to do the job fine.
I stick to the fly more one in a backpack for more “out and about” type stuff like if I were to bike somewhere or something.
I mean it's really cool. But the power bank seems to be over kill. I mean I paid 30 bucks for this and it works great.

Thanks for the link, but I think I have plenty of camera bags I can put into use. I’m planning on getting one of these and throwing it inside my camera bag. I have to many camera bags already.
Sounds like your best bet would be a solar power battery bank.
May be too much weight wise, but this can be charged with a 50-100W solar panel:

Good job. Looks nice.
I really wanted the 32 and the non-polarized as well, so I opted to purchase this set of filters (which arrive Thursday):

Takes 15-20 mins to bring the batteries back up to 65%. From what I’ve read it’s not good to store LiPo’s fully charged or discharged, and the best way to store them and preserve their life is to keep them at around 65% charge.
I use this headset with Litchi and it works great. It's nice because you can focus it unlike a lot of other ones. Litchi also has some ability to move the camera based on head movements. I really enjoy it.
Definitely grab some ND filters. PolarPro is the best brand however they are real expensive. I purchased some from this 'generic' brand, a great price and work really well. (& pass the gimbal calibration test)
I bought these solid cinematic filters from a 'generic' brand. nd4,8,16 and CPL. I like the addition of the CPL. Passes the gimbal calibration. Priced very well for the quality.
It looks like it is a little out of focus... I would recommend an ND filter to get you're ISO all the way down to 100. Then be able to get the shutter speed between 1 and 5 seconds to really bring out the lights. If you're looking for filters I bought these off Amazon and they work really well. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0797SQCZT
I agree. Shutter for video and Polarizers for water. Polar Pro is definitely expensive too. I wanted polarizing and ND filters in one set. I just bought this filter set off amazon. They work great, plus they're priced really well. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0797SQCZT
Not sure which reader you bought but I bought this one and it works just fine with my Spark and iPhone 7+. I can’t imagine the Air and iPhone X being too much different.

I have a LowerPro BP250 backpack that I carry onto the plane. It fits the drone along with batteries (in Lipo Safety bags) and all other accessories.
No questions at all at the security checks. The agents have probably seen all kinds of drones pass through their scanners, and don't really care any more. Just make sure to read up on drone laws in your destination country to avoid surprises.
I bought this one after seeing several positive reviews on MavicPilots. Not as solid as a pelican, but I love it. Pre-molded foam, not pluck.

How do you know which one to use? Just whatever looks the best at 100iso?
Had the same issue on my macbook pro TB 2017 last month. I ended up getting this
Problems seemed to have fixed it self. Not sure if this is the problem but maybe it has to do something with the adapter. Alternitivly have you tried updating it from the DJI Go app connected to the radio?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y477YM1/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I use this bracket and its great and cheap.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J46XO9U/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also use these Apple cords and never had an issue! they come with wire ties to I only take out one loop of wire and keep it tied up nicely so it doesn't hang out all over.
Ordered! Thanks!! There was a question on amazon for this, that someone asked if it came with the rubber bands / dampeners and the response was no. Im guessing that was in regards to a different product.
Thanks for the help!
First off I’ve never had to check my fly more bag. I’ve been putting my flymore bag inside of a separate bag along with a dslr and accessories. As long as the rest of the bag is not too thick you should be just fine. There are also bags like this that probably would hold all of your gear just fine
My S7 used to get hot flying my Phantom 3. It used to get REALLY HOT using the Gear VR. A company just came out with cooling apparatus for the S7. You might be able to retrofit it? Here it is:

i've been looking into this solution as well...
one solution that could work, but may not be practical either is this combo:
plus
i'm still looking into this to see if it will even be helpful (the omnicharge charges one full battery with 30% remaining)
I haven't traveled yet with my Mavic, but I plan to this week. My friend that also has a Mavic recommended getting a battery safe bag for flying. There shouldn't be any issues flying with the batteries but if you want to play it safe so that security can't say anything I would recommend getting a bag. I got mine from Amazon Canada.
I lug my 6D around with a 50mm, 85mm, 24-70mm, 4 batteries, lens filters on the front pouch, 2 Mavic batteries, the controller and the Mavic rest on top of it all.
Boom $22.00 on Amazon. It's not a pretty bag but it's perfect for mobility!
I'm not affiliated with these folks, they just made a good bag.

This thing might be overkill but I love it! I can fit 3 camcorders (2 sony PXW-X70's, and 1 smaller Panasonic 900 series) in the top, and all my drone stuff in the bottom (can fit 2 mavics easy). It also has tons of little pockets for random things, and a laptop compartment.
I bought one of these.
Very affordable and it is all microfoam cubes so you simply remove the cubes you want to customize the case for your Mavic.
I put my Mavic, controller, all cords, extra props, extra battery, extra sun shade, all documentation... and I still have room left over for more goodies.
I've made a few flights now with the Mavic, from Philadelphia to other domestic airports. I travel with the Mavic in these
Small hard cases https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WLM3CRT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_jRe0ybWCYPHGS with the batteries in the anti-fire bags in my carry on. I'm actually headed to Dublin on April 12th and intend to travel with the same kit.
I saw the 6 pack on Amazon for $80 for a bit while they were out of stock. As soon as they were back in stock the price jumped up to $150 (which is what it's listed for on the PolarPro website).
Is this the set you're referring to? If so, where did you pick it up?
advanced hub wears it out a bit more but its not noteable at the end you maybe get 5 flights less with the battery. But it woud be cheaper to get the fly more and use the car chargeer with an adapter to power plug to charge faster https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0196DXEBI/
Yes, unfortunately no way to charge the batteries with a portable USB battery pack yet, but I'm sure eventually there will be an adapter. In the mean time you could use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/NexGadget-Patented-Multi-Function-Notebooks-Smartphones/dp/B01HEVEDTG/
The best would be an iPadMini4 with 4g. But you can cheap out and get the wifi one if you don't mind using your phone as a hotspot.
get this cable. You have to bust it out of the shell, but it's perfect.
np :)
If you have Amazon Prime I'd highly recommend a Moto G4. You can buy them for $150 and I got mine specifically for the Mavic. It works beautifully, has a massive screen (same size as an iPhone 7+), extremely bright, and battery life lasts longer than all three of my Mavic batteries on full days of flying.
I got the drone and two extra batteries. I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I use this backpack to carry around the mavic and batteries/accessories along with my dslr camera, extra lens, memory cards, etc etc.
It's pretty great!
I have a hard case for my Mavic but I wanted something easier to carry around. Got this bag: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Sling-Backpack-SLR-Cameras/dp/B005VTIMEQ and it fits the Mavic plus accessories (three batteries, home and car charger, spare props) very nicely. I used the foam that came with the extra batteries to make them fit a bit more snugly.
Thats what I did. Got a 150W inverter on amazon for $18. Also has 2 usb ports for charging controller and phone.
My solution, which I've only really tried once (and it was a success), is to use a camelBak backpack filled with hot water, as well as to use an insulated carrying case for the Mavic. The carrying case has the added benefit of not needing to take the propellers off so it's very fast to take off and put away.
Case: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZZW91A/
CamelBak: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ID29OVI/
Edit: I warmed the water to about 160 degrees Fahrenheit (CamelBak says not to put boiling water in) and was outside for about an hour in 20 degree Fahrenheit weather before flying. The Mavic stayed warm and I didn't get any warnings. I doubt it would have stayed warm if out for more than a few hours. A better solution might be to just take the battery off and put it in my pocket.
Ive been having a lot of fun with the Blade Nano QX while I wait for my mavic (which just came in)
Mine isn't showing a date on my order page. I linked to the product page where it no longer defaults to Amazon as the vendor.
Amazon link....
It shows the Deluxe bundle as still being available Jan 15th. Base package, which is what i ordered, now defaults to third party showing Jan 31st.
Here are some on amazon for those of you with Prime.
and the rest
I have a 2-piece windshield cover that's meant to go inside your car against the windshield to block out the sun on hot days. They fold up real small. I just use one as a landing pad. They're small, lightweight and easy to carry around. Like this
Just posted a few options I've tried here - https://www.reddit.com/r/djimavic/comments/5di9r3/super_compact_mavic_cases_im_trying_out_a_few
Got one of these on the way too. I'm thinking if I can keep the controller and one spare battery in the attached accessory pocket it will be perfect.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MEWRJ5G/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1 or they sell packs with it in if you may use the others for something. The one I have fits the drone exactly, actually the drone wont fit in it. the reason I slit it and the used velcro, so i can just slide it in and the strap it. you can see in the video https://youtu.be/nlUgRN2ulls?t=11m56s It couldn't be any smaller. so if you have the drone it's that big.
I already had it as It came in a pack of 3. but its far larger than any lens I have.
It's not a hard case, but I picked up one of these to throw in my bag. I get my mavic Wednesday, so I can give you an update then.
Yeah, I carry this everywhere, nice and small, good protection, comfortable, and I can fit a bunch of stuff in it. My previous camera bag was basically useless.
Great idea!
