And yet he still may not have the best possible team.
Matthew Berry did a terrific experiment years ago where he had 9 fans choose a "perfect roster" based on the season's results. Everyone could have the same 1B, the same Catcher etc. And we'd tally up the roto scores. You would think that most of teams would be identical, but they were all different! No two teams were the same and no one position was unanimous. Even after knowing the results, everyone had different opinions as to who would help them win.
It was a fascinating experiment with a thought provoking conclusion.
EDIT: here's the article from 2012 Sadly the table of "teams" inserted into the article isn't there any more :(
He's not making me look like an asshole for this post, at least! Thanks Brandon and Jake! I put my money where my mouth is an own both... and it's going well. Keuchel's return to form has been good, too.

this is a beta version with some newly implemented VBA to reduce file size and increase the speed by which the inflation values and team stat accumulation is performed. the only downside is it can take anywhere from 10-30 seconds on the first initial calculation, but is real real quick after that.
check out the site for how it works on the sidebar: fantasybaseballcalculator.webs.com
gives you the option to enter your own projections, or pick and choose among 4 current projection lists out there (and this will be expanding in the next week or 2 to as many as possible). tracks stats, for each team, how much each player is currently worth with the previous picks and values entered, custom stats for league settings (66 categories), the ability to put weight to a stat, meaning you can custom devalue saves and steals, or put more emphasis on homeruns and wins, specify the amount of money you want to go to hitters for auctions, if necessary, and some other cool stuff too. give it a look everyone has liked it thus far and i improve and update it constantly.
cheers
and it is free.
For everyone hating on Dyson he has always been decent enough outside of the 2017 blowup with the Rangers (which might I add he still finished the year closing successfully with SF)
My situation. Still have Kris Bryant, Ben Zobrist, Bud Norris and Jordan Hicks to go, he has no one. Gonna smoke a blunt, eat a pizza and enjoy some Sunday Night Baseball. Go Cards! (Need that save..)
Give one of these a good shake and hope for the best. Otherwise, swap out relievers that are likely to get the night off based on heavy usage.
Our team identified some players that they felt will outperform their ADPs, and can be drafted in the mid-to-late round as undervalued upside plays. The list of players ranges from old to new...
Who are some of your favorite undervalued players for this year?
You can also download this as a free app with push notifications for iPhone and Andriod.
During the year we switch from draft values to waiver wire pickups. You can also read our daily news, columns, DFS picks and more all for free within the app (plus injury and breaking news alerts).
I wouldn't categorize 20+ home runs for 6 straight seasons as "not much power". He hit 24 last seasons with 160 RBI/Runs in his worst season ever, still not too shabby for fantasy, but he's not a 2nd round guy.
ESPN ranked him 42 and the 14th overall outfielder. That's mid 4th round in a 12 team league.
Personally, I'd reach late 3rd/early 4th for him hoping he'll get the BA/OBP figured out, but not in the 2nd round
Here's the plan: The Cubs leave Quintana in, he maybe records 3-4 more outs over the next 5 hours (which is actually generous to Quintana) and then it's thunderstorm time!
I used Zenmate, but just remember whenever you use a free VPN they are making money somehow. If you’re willing to pay, Private Internet Access has been deemed the king of VPNs. There is a subreddit ( /r/VPN I believe ), that will have threads on the matter. I never had an issue with Zenmate if you are looking for a free VPN extension, I just wouldn’t use it while doing anything personal on the internet.

Came down to around 15% rain during projected game time.
Yeah, I usually just deal with it when they make radical changes to the app that no one wants or needs, but this one takes the cake for awfulness. Its so bad I left the beta test group, uninstalled, and reinstalled a previous Android version (9.13.7). Not great, but better than 10.1.3 by far.
I developed this spreadsheet that does exactly what you are asking for. 5x5 categories though so if you have more you will have to tailor it slightly.
Maeda at Cinci isn't that great and as an aside, I believe another reason they moved Kershaw back a game as well is because the forecast in Cinci shows a high chance of afternoon thunderstorms with bad wind conditions. https://weather.com/weather/5day/l/USOH0188:1:US
ESPN lists starters for about 15 days in advance which you can use to project two start pitchers.
For example, let's look at the Indians schedule: http://www.espn.com/mlb/team/schedule/_/name/cle
Trevor Bauer is scheduled to start on Monday, August 29th, and Sunday, September 4th. He would be a good two start target for week 21, as he gets the Twins and Marlins at home. He is widely available - only about 50% owned.
A VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, I don't know the specific details but in short you setup a VPN on your computer using a program or extension and it routes your internet traffic through one or many different servers located across the world.
By doing so, the location and information of your IP address and internet traffic is masked making it harder to determine your location. By doing so MLB isn't able to tell which market you are actually in allowing you to potentially watch an in-market game as if you were out of market.
Definitely worth noting that as /u/Inclaudwetrust mentioned "Using a VPN has resulted in cancellation of mlb tv subscriptions... FYI" so be careful out there and use at your own risk.
edit: the program that I use which seems to be highly regarded is Private Internet Access (PIA)
I don't think the actual Baseball App will ever be back.
I'm 90% sure it is being transferred over to the "ESPN Fantasy" app that has all the sports in one.
This one.

We have actually built exactly what you are looking for. Our app allows you yo subscribe to any player and receive notifications about them during the game.

if you are looking for a league hub, i would suggest either the google one SSJ posted, or going through a service like yahoo draft
Thanks for doing this guys. I'm offensively dominate at the expense of my pitching, which I would love some help with.
I just dropped Teheran for Santiago, dunno what took me so long to do so. Desmond has been dead weight most this season, thinking about trying to pawn him off as a name.
Big problem is a lot of really great pitchers (MadBum, Boxberger, Cueto, Robertson, Kershaw, Sale, Holland, Arrieta, Uehara) are on two teams where the owners have just not paid attention since the draft.
Please save my pitching. I'm in third right now but would be easily in first if I won more saves and K's I believe.

Pretty positive he had him ranked as SP2 in his podcast last week.
I play in an APBA league based out of DC and absolutely love it. The http://www.apbablog.com/ site is great for reading up on it as is APBA games.
If you want to see how elaborate a league can get (rules, standings, trades, drafting, etc), take a look at our site - https://sites.google.com/site/apbanvabl/
Here's the app I use in Android.
According to forums I've read, other iPhone users report apps like this one working for the MLB.TV blackout restrictions. Really, a few Google searches or a quick search in /r/baseball of "MLB.TV" will show you a few options others have been successful with. It seems like no matter what device you're using there's a way around it.
I am commissioner of an ESPN league, and we do a really intricate prospect system but we do it all offline. It has worked really well, I actually wrote up a detailed set of rules and guidelines that govern our prospect ownership. If you want a copy of our rules, PM me and I can send it to you.
What happens with ours is we have a Facebook group for the league and in that Facebook group we have the prospect rules and a spreadsheet through Google Docs where we keep record of all of the offline stuff such as prospect ownership and future draft pick trading.
I think keeping track of prospect stuff offline the way we do it is easiest by far, and I would highly recommend it.
EDIT: I tried to upload my prospect rules online, this link should work, but I've never done this before so who knows

"My drinking was a problem, and I feel good without it. I feel like a new man," he said Thursday.
The Detroit Tigers slugger spent three months in an outpatient treatment program for alcoholism following a much-publicized drinking binge during the final weekend of last season, a program that general manager Dave Dombrowski said will continue into spring training and the upcoming season.
Otherwise, if you're looking to publish outside of Reddit, simple and free sites like Wordpress (.com not .org - direct link https://wordpress.com/start/user?ref=homepage) or Blogger (part of Google), for example. There are others, those are just a couple of the most famous.
Anyone got an inside scoop on the Nats and Padres? What're the odds that this game gets played? I really need Ross to make this start
According to the doppler, I don't think it'll last that long
The only angel who can hit Felix is trout (6 bombs in 75 AB, .373 AVG). In 249 AB, the rest of the team has 4 HR, and hits around the Mendoza line.
1st thru 9th in my league are separated by 10 games. There's a ton of parity in my league. Anyone else's league close like that? I'm in 6th but only 6 games out. It's nuts. Playing 1st this week and tryin' to put a whoopin' on him.
My draft sucked donkey balls last year. I was basically this guy. The waiver wire and I became best buds. There will be guys like Wood, Hoskins, Buxton, and many others who will emerge, and there will be guys who keep getting picked up and dropped for unknown reasons (no one wanted Didi in my league last year). Other owners will make mistakes. It ain't over.
- Ever been curious about the speed of a car 🚗 that just flashed near you?
- Are you an athlete in a ball-based sport? And want to measure the velocity of your shot? Or maybe your serve 🎾?
- Do you like challenges? And want to beat your friends at the most powerful throw game?
cSpeed is crafted for you then. It allows you to accurately calculate the speed of a moving object through your mobile. The target can be a car, a ball, a bird, or almost anything.

What do you think?
I have and love it. I also have NordVPN which is my easy get around for any blackout games. Works like a charm and I have the opportunity to listen to the radio guys on the video feed which I love the most - on top of throwing up multiple games at once when I see my fantasy guys come up. Other options are streamers and thats free.
I agree it's awful and then they wonder why attendance is down still. Couldn't be the $100 beer and food or anything...
But here are options to get around it.
Unlocator DNS or VPN + FireTV / PS4 etc
Mobile: VPN + via browser
VPN (a must here) + r/mlbstreams
I personally use Private Internet Access as a provider, can usually find deals for it and it allows you to pick both US locations and international locations. Doesn't work too well with Netflix, unfortunately, they've gotten smart about identifying IP addresses and blocking them, although a few locations still work for that.
Android app called push alerts for Reddit.
Have to adjust the settings to your liking (which posts to show, how often, etc.), but it'll give you instantaneous post updates from this sub. (You'll need a separate Reddit reader app as well, but those are ubiquitous).
glad you like it - i was just guessing on the league setup for positions so thats what i meant by 'as you did not specify', i like to leave the auction amount in there as it gives better feedback in my opinion as to how much more valuable one player is to the next. if you want to play around with the spreadsheet yourself you can get the current version at this link
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gzw00dc2f945qr0/mFBC%2003-05-2013.xlsm?m
I know it works with excel 2010 and excel 2007. I have not tested it with excel 2003 yet. I know there will be issues with some of the finishing touches like conditional formatting as excel 2003 does not support stop when true, which I unfortunately had to include in some instances. I dont believe I included any functions that 2003 cannot handle in terms of the actual evaluation.
For some reason I am thinking that you can only have 7 nested IF statements, and for the stats and possibly the positions overview worksheet I may have used more than that, so those might not work either currently. in the next few days i am going to test with LibreOffice, openoffice, and try and find a version of excel 2003 to test on.
i just released a new version today that vastly improves upon the size and performance, as well as updated projections and added ESPN to the mix.

Use a VPN my guy. ProtonVPN is free and should be able to get you around local blackouts. If you’re using a USA server and it’s still blacked out try a different country or different US server if it lets you on the free version. Helped another guy here who was still blacked out using the vpn until he switched to a different country, so evidently he was connected to a vpn server near his IRL location.
Hey guys, in case you weren't aware RotoBaller has a free mobile app with MLB player news and fantasy analysis, articles, draft value picks and push notification alerts on breaking news, injuries and more:
It's a simple app, but has been improved recently with more timely alerts to keep you informed on the go (and more sports added)! In the future we hope to offer team syncing but unfortunately could not get to it this year.
Our news desk is pumping out updates all year long and you can find it on other platforms like Sleeper, Fleaflicker, RT Sports, Fanball, FantasyPoints, FantasyData and many others as well. We'd love any feedback on the updated app... hopefully it helps and you find it useful. Thanks for checking it out and good luck with your upcoming drafts!
SO. I gave my buddy who's way too mathematically inclined this problem, and using data points from my points league, [here is the behemoth](https://www.desmos.com/calculator/ivpcnz7his?fbclid=IwAR3e-BRx5sw_HoMImyiz2sCg7YJxsS30egvzcgXueNyDaFEP2d93FpSjD2Q) he created. Basically, we took the data points from the best batter (Bregman, 1296), the best pitcher (Verlander, 1094), the "worst drafted batter"/batter 290 (Ronny Rodriguez, 299), and the similar pitcher (Heath Hembree, 113). We used 290 as ADP 290 would be the last drafted player and is frequently used for the cutoff of draftable. There's plenty of flaws in this, but this was the first spitball we had to try to "normalize" points by draft round.
im going switch to something else (im leaning towards filedropper) to fix this problem. Im doing a fairly substantial update right now and i dont want to upload partial working file but here is the new d/l link for the current version is out
http://www.filedropper.com/fantasybaseballcalculator01-16-2013
edit: here is the updated version https://www.dropbox.com/s/8iuxcypag6g9o8s/FBC%2001-19-2013.xlsx
You can do do polls really easily at https://www.strawpoll.me/
In ESPN guys who weren't drafted in most leagues have an ADP of 260. You could probably go through the player rater and compile the best players who were drafted at 260.
Looking for some advice on keepers (obviously theres time, just wanted to prepare to make some trades for people I'm not keeping)
League size: 14 Teams, 30 man rosters, 8 NA spots League Settings: Standard+.OPS+Holds
Final day of the first round, I'm trying to figure out if I should even field a pitcher
Results for the week, I am the winning team
Nola and Snell can easily get 2 wins, I'm trying to determine if even they threw 2 no hitters if they would catch up to me in ratios. I don't trust Patino enough, even against the Tigers, to lock it down so I see him as only having the potential to damage my own team
Tristan Cockroft at ESPN puts them up as part of his weekly fantasy baseball forecaster. Eickhoff is a 51 and 52, respectively.
He may suck next year but his average draft position in roto leagues will be in the 2nd round. 3rd round in points league. He is already ranked the 4th best at 2nd base and 33rd overall on ESPN rankings. http://www.espn.com/fantasy/baseball/story/_/page/2016_positional_rankings/updated-fantasy-baseball-rankings-position-2016-season#2B People will value him all over the place next year but it only takes one in every league. People will pay for the potential.
I haven't found anything but maybe the folks over at /r/GreaseMonkey/ can help you out. Also check out GreasyFork.org as the have a request page. Good Luck!

When you look at the table that you posted, the Mariners are one of the best offenses in baseball against righties, but when you look at total numbers of runs scored as displayed in the following graph, they are 25th in MLB in runs scored against righties http://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/batting/split/32
How does that make sense?
Maybe a little. I wouldn't worry about it too much. One thing to consider: per ESPN, the top five pitching staffs are in the NL (Cubs, Nats, Mets, Giants, Dodgers).
You're looking at past stats. I'm looking at predictors for the future.
https://www.screencast.com/t/lkkxOnH98v9f
They have his xERA at 2.7. Lets say it's 3.5 or even 4. (which would be worse than last year throwing 3 mph less....) You add in a k/9 of even near 8/9 and you have a top 20 pitcher
Anchor posts it for me across all major podcasts.

Slight shift to the automated threads The Team Questions thread is the central location to get/give team specific advice. This thread is basically anything else.
We'll moderate the Game Day and Night Game Chat in the short term and refer relevant comments to the Team Questions thread. Hopefully the community can self enforce as necessary once things settle in. In the end the central goal of the sub is to share analysis/news/whatever and get a better feel together. We have two automated threads, both don't need to be filled with comments from people who want advice.
If you have Reddit Enhancement Suite, a browser plugin that improves the reddit experience, you can click show all right above the comment box, and ctrl+f if you're curious about a specific player/team/topic. Sorting comments by best, top, controversial, etc can also be useful.
Pending details:
Monday/Thursday bat streams, SP streams, and save speculation is sort of a gray area between team advice and general discussion that could benefit everyone. We need to determine and clarify which thread that discussion belongs
FFBot auto updated a chart in the previous automated threads, not including the Anything Goes. It gave some props to the users who responded to the most questions and noted parent comments that didn't get any responses. Currently not activated, gotta discuss whether to re-implement.

Hi, I'm Dr. Z and many of you know me from my posts helping people with carpal tunnel syndrome and other hand pain conditions.
I'm medical director for CarpalRx and we're an online healthcare provider specializing in home therapy for carpal tunnel. I'm reasonably certain I can help Stephen Strasburg avoid surgery and radically reduce his "down time" so he can keep playing.
Here's a link to my Professional Courtesy Hand Pain Symptoms survey: https://www.jotform.com/form/201345578097967
Can anyone get the link to Stephen Strasburg or Davey Martinez -- or tell me how to do so? Many thanks for this, Dr. Z
Citi field is 24th overall for hitters...
My bad on Citizens. I thought I heard that while it's easy to hit home runs, that the outfield was spacious.
Lucroy, primed and ready to catch the ball as Marisnick makes his cut.
Give me a reason he was falling back into Marisnick's path other than blocking the plate? He definitely could have caught the ball without falling back
Alright guys, I'm sure you're bored so help me come up with a trade for this guy. I'm the team on the left and could use some pitching, I like Corbin, Kluber and Scherzer on his team. Probably gonna go for Corbin because I'll have to give up the least.
This is our hitters (My team on left)
And our pitchers (I'm on left again, and subtract Treinen and add Archer).
I'm thinking something like Desmond, Polanco, and Freeland for Corbin.
What are your ideas?
Also I should add that I'm in first and he's in 11th and hemorrhaging badly (especially on offense where I'm well off)

So if I (think I will) have ERA WHIP and wins won, but might need strikeouts...Is Castillo worth grabbing for tomorrow v the Cubs? This is the list of pitchers available. (Also with the waiver on Bieber he wouldn't join my roster til Monday)
I've played a looot of yahoo leagues and I've never seen them mess up a waiver claim. Not saying it's impossible though. You can go back in and see waiver claims if you go to "league" -> "recent transactions" -> then "waiver bids"
https://www.screencast.com/t/rY86VlKL6x8
Does it say he had a claim? Make sure the time and what not on the email was for right now. Does he have anyone on the DL that isn't actually on the DL?
H2H Points with Holds brah ~_^
My league punishes blown saves so Holds are more desirable to me
My team isn't in its ideal state right now, waiting for some players to get more eligibilities
Edit: Scoring
Edit #2: Did you mean infield and not outfield? My OF is pretty stacked even with the two of them on the DL
Start Tanner Roark today @Col? H2H points, scoring
The entire Rockies team only has 20 AB against him (7 hits though, .350 BA & .950 OPS), he has 1 start at Coors and 1 relief appearance for 8.1 innings and a 0.00 ERA there.
I'm just not sold because, well, Coors, and the Rockies have been on fire over the last 7 games including 7 HRs and 49 RBIs
Should I start Mark Reynolds in one of my two Utility spots Saturday versus Kershaw?
Pros: He has started the year hot; It's a home game at Coors
Cons: Fucking Kershaw; 4/23 lifetime against Kershaw; He's the best fucking pitcher in the league
Not to be a dick...but maybe help by directing OP to some resources? If he knew how to format, wouldn't he have done it?
OP - get the Reddit Enhancement Suite extension. It's very helpful.
You're talented enough, you just need to learn! Look up Bootstrap ( https://getbootstrap.com/). Tools like that make writing HTML a bit simpler.
Could also use something like this ( https://bootstrapstudio.io/ ) It is more like a program so I believe it writes the HTML for you.
Well if it could help, at Zenkit, we created our own free online tool along with an article on teamwork, would love to have your opinion:

There are ways to tell, but they don't seem to care. There's a MLB TV page that talks about how you might get blackouts you aren't supposed to if you are using a VPN.
It's not the league that institutes blackouts, it's at the discretion of the regional broadcaster (i.e., Rogers). If the MLB keeps statistics about the number of users who use VPNs to bypass blackouts and share that data with Rogers and Rogers decides to complain to them, MLB TV might do something about it, but it's not currently against the TOS. If it were, you can bet that they would be going after companies like ExpressVPN who explicitly mention that their service can be used to get around MLB blackouts.
Yeah for the most part. There are some free ones, but they aren't exactly secure. Private Internet Access is paid, but offers security - they don't log your activity and they protect you from other potential security threats.
It's totally worth it, especially in light of Congress allowing ISPs to sell our internet browsing history. Having a VPN would better protect your privacy. Added benefit of using torrents, online gambling, and other gray areas with ease of mind.
StackSocial has 2-Years of Private Internet Access VPN Service for $59.95 - 15% w/ promo code PIA15 = $50.96.
That's a very good deal. I've been using PIA for a couple of years now and have no complaints about speed etc. they also have an easy to use App that allows you to connect your phone to VPN.
Congrats on the baby. I gave my 16 month old her first baseball card, a 2016 Allen and Ginter Mascots in the Wild MW-6 Horse Am I shortchanging her?
