Valve's got some great ones from Portal 2, already pre-made for you!
http://www.thinkwithportals.com/music.php
I'm currently using Persona 4's "quest start" jingle, and have been for a while. My ears are tuned to it such that I don't really want to change it at all this point. :) Before that I highly enjoyed Geometry Wars sound effects, but that's not musical at all.
Yes! Get ready to dance your pants off, because they released the OST for free under the name Songs to Test By. 64 tracks totaling over THREE GLORIOUS HOURS of music.
Portal 2 Soundtrack (you should all totally download this)
Wind Waker
Metroid Prime
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (really underrated, imo)
Half Life 2
Team Fortress 2
Super Meat Boy
Just a few off the top of my head. :)
The worst part about Jeremy Soule having a symphony coming out... is that he's billed as "the composer of Skyrim"... he should just be billed as "Jeremy Fucking Soule," because he's a bloody genius.
I was always fond of Redman - Lay You Out (heavily sampled Street Fighter 2)
But if you want a big list, whosampled.com has 741:
I would like to add that Famitracker also support expansion chips, which allows more channels to be used in compositions.
Jake Kaufman specificially used the VRC6 expansion chip (notably found in the Japanese version of Castlevania III) for the Shovel Knight soundtrack, and he was really good at using it.
It will take time to get into tracking, but it is worth it.
Thanks for sharing this. I loved playing this game back in the day. It came in a bundle pack with a bunch of Lucasart games like Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, and Dig when I got my first computer.
BTW, somewhat relevant, but the creators of Neverhood are working on a new game called Armikrog. They had a kickstarter:
I don't think you're doing it wrong. Without a guide, it can take many many tries to get to the true ending, considering how many options you can make.
With that said, I recommend using this spoiler-free guide to get the endings you haven't gotten.
Most recently I did music for "Rage Warriors" on the iOS / App Store. I'm working on a few that haven't been announced but will at this year's Game Developers Conference. And YES I've solo albums! You can buy here:
http://alexanderbrandon.bandcamp.com
There is also a Kickstarter here for the latest effort, a massive collab!

Thanks for asking and your support!!!
"Now You're a Hero" from the game "You Have to Burn the Rope".
For a better experience I recommend playing You Have to Burn the Rope. It will take maybe 5 minutes to finish the game.
Would that be adequate?
I think that Chapter VII is info copied directly from Brawl's Music Box, but I don't know if it's complete.
You mention there's no word on the french variation... I don't know much about the game, but if you change the website to French language, the downloads are in French...

I recently discovered audio overload http://www.bannister.org/software/ao.htm and have been listening to the rom dump of pilotwings for days. Very underrated soundtrack from the 16 bit era.
EDIT: You can pick up some tunes at http://ocremix.org/chiptunes
Sounds nice and the arrangement is good but if you want to get something more authentic then look up Famitracker. It's completely free and has a fairly steep learning curve but it's worth it if you want to try your hand at chiptunes. It perfectly emulates NES music with the two square channels, one triangle, one noise, and one sample. It'll give you a completely new appreciation for that music. Jake Kaufman used it to create the Shovel Knight soundtrack.
I feel obligated to post this again, just because I love it so much.

If you want to hear the bits from this video, skip to 23:26. But really, you should just listen to the whole thing.
It's by the same guy, actually. You can find more of his stuff (with 320kbps downloads) here: http://www.4shared.com/dir/11067380/32a3e2f3/sharing.html
There's the Nico Nico medleys, some Chrono Cross music, some Ghibli music, and a few anime music medleys. All acoustic, of course.
>Is Tony's ARTworks porn of characters from the series?
It's an artbook of Tony Taka's work from the Shining series.
I took a brief look at the Amazon page for it, and it appears there is no actual nudity.
I thought CarboHydroM's 20 minute Link to the Past medley would be the longest song on my VG Playlist. This one takes the cake, great find!
This same artist does a really good version of both Cossack stages from Megaman 4, I particularly love the 2nd part, which starts at 0:50. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/369794
Others may have already found this when trying to look up something to contribute to this discussion, but this list provides an interesting breakdown of all pieces in a game's soundtrack that have unusual time signatures. The games chosen in this list are likely just popular choices that the author was interested in, but it's a pretty long, comprehensive list with interesting analysis for each piece.
All of the OWB music in this OST is awesome. This is easily one of my favourites.
By ellebirdy23 of Newgrounds. If you like this one, I heartily reccomend her short rendition of the Song of Time.
It's an indie game by Terry Cavanagh (creator of VVVVVV), and is by far my favourite 'Art game'. Its soundtrack is also brilliant, although quite short. Cornered (or the boss theme) is my favourite song.
Just in case there are any fans of MGS who aren't aware of the OuterHeaven Network channel on Twitch, here's a link! They're doing several marathons of all the MGS games and are at 540 hours+!
I recently picked it up off steam for $3.99 and I'm just about to leave Midgar. It's a pretty solid port and it's cheap! At the most you'll have to reconfig your controller to suit the way you played it on PS1.
Edit: It's currently on sale at the Humble Store for $5.99
Check out William Cheng's Sound Play. It's got a ton of info on how video game music affects people both in a variety of ways. It's also a pretty cool read for anyone else interested!
Turnabout Jazz Soul - Track 8 - Godot - The Fragrance of Dark Coffee http://endlessvideo.com/watch?v=HMnrl0tmd3k
Not a jazzy cover, but a damn jazzy song, from Phoenix Wright.
This is really great to work too. It has a soothing flowing water feel to it. I had this playing in the background as well. A fine pairing https://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/healingWaterSoundscapeGenerator.php?l=00322500360029000024&m=&d=0
10/10 would write code to it again.
Apparently there was originally a Canthan district in Divinity's Reach but one of NCSoft's producers said that Korean audiences didn't like to see the different cultures clash together. As a result they obliterated the district and what we got instead was simply "The Great Collapse".
Digital: A Love Story is a free adventure game/visual novel from the talented Christine Love. I greatly recommend you check it out whoever you are, and experience this song as the lovely surprise it turns out to be.
If you have not played Shovel Knight yet or at least listened to the soundtrack, buy it here and download the soundtrack (for free) here. Both are well worth your time.
I use a big mixture of software to get the best result.
To get an idea of a riff I use Reason, because you can have a loop playing in the background as you write in different melodies to see what sounds nice. If you want you can stick with Reason the whole way through, it is a professional level synth generator that can make infinite amazing sounds through musical programming. Think back to the old .XM format music, multiplied by a thousand.
After I've got something cool going, I put it into a notation program, usually Guitar Pro 6, Sibelius or Finale; but usually GP6 as I'm most familiar with its interface and the playback is pretty damn good for hearing what you've written.
For someone experienced, I'd actually advise against the use of a program like Reason as a singularity unless you want to learn something new. Reason doesn't use notation -- so unless you have a damn good ear (which a lot of people do) it's hard to stick to a particular key.
TL;DR: Use Reason to get the melody, then put it into Guitar Pro 6.
EDIT: For reference, http://www.kongregate.com/games/Hamumu/robot-wants-ice-cream
My friend is using FamiTracker for the music for his retro 8-bit game (some of the music is here). It's great for NES but I'm not sure if that's the level of electronic/synth you're looking for.
Maybe someday you can make a composition course that includes all genres and students can choose their favorites :)
With Foobar2000 using the various game music plugins and VGMStream.
Kode54 has created a lot of game music plugins for Foobar2000, check 'em out here: http://www.foobar2000.org/components/author/kode54
I personally use Foobar2000. It comes with a converter framework, which can use plugins to write to MP3 or Vorbis or anything else. Once you hook Foobar up with the official game music plugin, you can convert any format into whatever format you want, and automatically fill metadata tags.
It's actually pretty easy. I have a lot of experience playing music, but 0 experience playing any kind of piano or keyboard...and I use a MIDI controller/keyboard to make that stuff.
So you really don't need to have crazy skills or anything, just an ear for what you're into. Got this one for 100 bones on amazon, but I bet you can find even cheaper ones.
I then use this program called Reason to emulate synthesizers and drum machines and stuff. Set a tempo and get to recording!
I put some more of my stuff up for you to check out if you're interested on that account.
There is one. It's called <em>Katamari Fortissimo Damacy</em>. It's a little pricey on Amazon if you want a physical copy. I'm sure you could find it elsewhere though.
I received the physical copy a few weeks ago. It's cute and sits nicely on my bookshelf.

Machinae Supremacy will be doing an AMA on /r/iama on Thursday at 1PM EST
Not sure what stand they use but I use this one - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DGU92DM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It doesn't attach to the desk but it's a lot sturdier than it looks. The bottom piece is actually pretty heavy, but I still make sure to have my larger monitor on the bottom.
aha! exactly the kind of request i should be able to answer!.... but no, no idea, sorry :(
there are some softwares that can help you, if the song is famous enough (they have no problem recognizing mario music for example), here's a list of them:
http://mashable.com/2010/03/30/identify-song-apps/
EDIT: just checked out musipedia, it's pretty cool, try your luck there
Lufia II - Savior of Those on Earth
Ockeroid - Counting down the minutes - Very soft tune for a game where you have a minute to complete each level
Goscurry is an obscure indie game from 2015; it is a challenging infinite runner of sorts.
It has a grand total of 12 reviews on steam and the most exposure it ever got from what I know of is when nerdcubed played a demo of it in one of his videos.
The soundtrack is quite good in my opinion, so I decided to post it here. Enjoy!
The godfather of cinematic adventures. This game practically makes my childhood. I was, and kind of still am, obsessed with it. Look at the graphics, animations, and of course listen to the music. Complete with fantastic controls and gameplay, this is a work of art through and through, and it set in 1989 a standard many games still cannot meet. This includes many ports that use the capabilities their respective platforms to the fullest, including reworked graphics and sound.
Project Phoenix is a successful Kickstarter Project.
It will be a JRPG made by some great developer and creator (see Kickstarter link above).
The music is made by Tomoki Miyoshi, Kevin Penkin and the legend Nobuo Uematsu.
Inspired by the cyberpunk playlist when it first came out and i didn't know it wouldn't work on my ps4 hahahah.

I have been working off and on my indie game wip, and hired sean to do alot of the music. Sean recently did this one for me which I love even though this version has that darn flute in there still :P
I wrote an article about this! The Donkey Kong Country trilogy is a perfect one, any Zelda game too. Check out my full article:

I've seen a few lists posted to VideoGameGeek about using VG music for wedding, might be of use to you:
An excellent track from a great FREE indie game, it really fits the mood and era the game is set in. 4mat is a legendary composer and this is one of my favorites of his.
There are quite a few versions of this song which I quite like. As well as the various new ones from the new games (Gold, silver, fire red, leaf green, heart gold, soul silver), there are also some nice remixes lying around. To name a couple of my favourites, Ellebirdy's over at newgrounds, and the Pokémon Reorchestrated version.
If you're looking to just listen to it, there's a 2 part collection of Concerto Gate BGM from NicoNico Douga which requires log in access.
Amazon JP doesn't seem to have it in stock so this is the closest I can get. Sorry if it doesn't help.
I'm using a program called Famitracker.
Essentially it emulates the type of tracker (music software) used in a NES/Famicom, which does make it a bit harder to use than your standard musical software, but it also produces incredibly authentic sound and is fairly flexible.

If you want to try it out for yourself you can download it here, and then either just play around with or find some tutorials online! http://famitracker.com/index.php
you see how there are dashes representing different columns. the effcts column is the 3 end dashes starting with the 7th dash from the left . on that 7th dash is where you want to place your effect (represented by a letter/number) heres a list of effects http://famitracker.com/wiki/index.php?title=Effect_list theyre represented by letters/numbers and 2 value numbers. the number value determines things like the speed of the effect or the depth. this chart should help you understand what the letters and numbers represent for each effect. and the effect will stay on until you tell it to turn off by bringing the numbers back to zero. you can also add multiple effects ,heres a song for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2LdvE1FBgQ the effects are represented by the pink letter/number.
Apparently it samples a couple tracks, only vg link is paper planes being used in dj hero.
I don't know, but I would imagine no. I don't use Spotify. Have you tried Deezer? Here, for example, is what they have to offer from Nobuo Uematsu.
For those of you who can't/don't want to/are morally obligated to not click through and see the description, but still want the download link, it is right here.
Game: Space Funeral <-try it!

Music: Colour Radio - Originally by BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
Remastered Soundtrack of PlayStation 2 launch game "Summoner" by Scott Lee will be released on physical CD.
Loved this game. Soundtrack is awesome.
It was released digitally some time ago: https://www.amazon.com/Summoner-20th-Anniversary-Scott-Lee/dp/B07QHJG2RZ
Not at all, here's a specific example:
https://www.amazon.com/FINAL-FANTASY-REMAKE-Original-Soundtrack/dp/B088ZL4LPW
It's on the iTunes Store as well.
Hello out there. I thought this could be interesting for some of you. I recently created a music visualization app called Vythm which I though you might find useful. It’s available on the AppStore here: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/vythm-music-visualization/id1550581532 Also it’s available for open beta testing in the Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.MKGames.Vythm
Feedback is always appreciated! Best regards Marvin
Hi there,
I just made this mobile game and I would like to ask if there is anyone who would love to create some new music for it. If you are interested in cooperation, please let me know.
You can try the game here:
Many thanks
VK
Still one of only ~~2~~ 3 soundtracks I own a physical copy of. The other is L.A. Noire.
Edit: That's a filthy fucking lie. I just realized that Bioshock 2's limited edition came with a vinyl called "Sounds From The Lighthouse". It's still only a handful of samples as opposed to the entire soundtrack and I didn't actually seek it out when I bought the original game.
Thanks! I'm using this. It's really good if you don't need to record a lot of audio tracks at once, but anything with a Hi-Z switch should sound pretty good.
My guitar is an Ibanez RG7321 with D-Activator pickups.
Instead of amps I use VSTs. The rhythm guitar is LePou's LeCto amp. It's still in beta but it already sounds this good so I can't wait for the final release. The solo guitar is LePou's LeGion amp. Both of these amps are free. The impulses used are Recabinet.
So yeah! If I actually knew what I was doing it would probably sound better, but this is the first time I've ever put something online with guitars in it. Anyway, I guess you liked it, so I'm happy!
Anyone interested in guitar amp modeling should check out http://www.guitarampmodeling.com , there's lots of information and cool stuff over there!
Hey man thanks! I'm starting to hear that I've over compressed it a bit, but overall I'm pretty happy with it. It's just for background music in the gameplay, if you are lucky enough to have an android phone, you can play it in real life by downloading it from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Okin.WordWar&hl=en
Thanks! It's gameplay music that runs while you're playing. As you'd probably expect from gameplay music. You can download the game here! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Okin.WordWar&hl=en Thanks s much for your comment!
