Most of these sites are basically wordpress blogs.
The hosting cost can be as low as Rs. 1665/month if you buy the business plan of wordpress.com. (https://wordpress.com/#plans). If you host it on amazon aws with a xlarge webserver and 1tb of storage, it comes to Rs. 14000/month. (http://calculator.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html#r=IAD&s=EC2&key=calc-17C580B2-A461-46CB-BF7B-40CB6E4BEFC0)
So hosting is cheap.
If you don't have a proper office and newsdesk and so on, you can work from home and all your employees can work from their homes. You can meet up once a week or so at somebodys house. So no office overheads. Some people wear multiple hats. There is no dedicated editor.
Content is the main issue. Usually there are content providers who will give you matter and images you can modify and use. If you are hell bent on creating your own content, you can do so. Mediacrooks is - to the best of my knowledge - a one man operation.
If you are not interested in revenue to cover your costs, a group of 3-4 otherwise gainfully employed - and likeminded - professionals can run such an operation part time, funding it with a part of their paychecks.
Revenue sources are of three types. Paid content is the most lucrative but you need to show that you have reach. Advertisements are the easiest but most people have ad blockers installed now (which is why most websites of proper news media show you a message asking you to remove your adblocker). Subscribers who pay are the holy grail, but then you have to setup a billing capability and register as a company and open a current account and payment processing and all that and someone has to handle subscriber helpdesk, and once you do that, you have to do sales to make sure that there are enough subscribers to justify all the overhead.
What do I use a lot of right now?
Here goes:
Amazon, Amazon Kindle, Drippler, Evernote, Falcon Pro, Facebook, SkyScanner, Gmail, Google Sky Map, Hello for SMS, Hotel Tonight, Hotwirem Image Shrink Lite, Intelligent Life, Ixigo, Kayak, Google Keep, LinkedIn, Moneycontrol, On The Fly, Play Books, Play Music, Play Newsstand, Pulse, Quiz Up, Quora, Snapseed, The Economist, Timely, Google Translate, TripAdvisor, TunnelBear, Uber, WhatsApp. :-)
This picture is that of the Confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers taken in Ladakh, India at Nimu. The Indus runs through entire Ladakh all along by your side serving as a constant companion and you feel a sense of respect for this stream of water that is the lifeline of the people of Ladakh, especially since Ladakh experiences a rainfall of only 2 to 3 inches throughout the year.

For me, it was this post http://np.reddit.com/r/EarthPorn/comments/21l63p/river_confluence_in_the_himalayas_india_5184x3456/ (that was removed) and thought it'd be good to post the image - note the credentials given in the title.

>This has been going on for a long time now,I remember periodically some image sharing websites would be blocked. Hell one day youtube was blocked. Just use a proxy or zenmate to get around it.
No this time its look like they esp targeted porn sites as all major porn sites are now blocked in BSNL and Zenmate or similar solutions ain't gonna cut it because they are slow as hell and its India not Saudi Arabia so there's no need for such stringent censorship.
Damn, wrong copy paste, I meant to post this

Sorry, what is this U-turn you talked about ?

Both these paragraphs made sense, but they don't seem to relate to the question (or the answer).
> My ardent Hinduism is a reflection of the FACT that Hinduism is a humanist and universally defensible position.
Wow ! That is a bold statement to make about a religion which justifies untouchability, is misogynist, has irrational belief in Gods, explains bad luck(disability, poverty etc) as results of past-deeds. Sorry, but some aspects of hinduism are outrightly despicable.
I am not claiming that Hinduism is all bad, yes it has some great things, but I do not think it is either "humanist" nor it is "universally defensible".
Before you/other jump on me, I don't think the same about other major religions either. However, I would argue that you can find some humanism & "defensible positions" in other religions too.

No. US intelligence investigated a guy (not the company), who worked in UAE as a hacker but who now works in ExpressVPN (his history was known by everyone) and after the employee outrage, FBI investigation was done and the guy was found to be not-guilty.
Bhai literally, for the third bloody time, read your own damn source.
Anpad research bhi kar le kabhi bolne se pehle.
Even the most famous ones - like ExpressVPN, P.I.A., Surfshark etc are no logs VPN and these three (among certain others) have actually been proven to really not possess IP logs of users (FBI can check with VPN comps for user data if they have a warrant, and in cases where the users were using these they didn't find squat).

Note on the book:
In 1929, Pandit Sunderlal’s original work in four volumes, Bharat Mein Angrezi Raj, was banned by the British because of its fearless criticism of their rule in India. In sharp contrast to narratives by British historians, who stressed that India was in a state of arrested development before the British arrived, Pandit Sunderlal’s books celebrated India’s past. In 1960, the Government of India brought out this history in two volumes: How India Lost Her Freedom and British Rule in India. The first volume How India Lost Her Freedom was published by SAGE earlier this year. It details how British traders penetrated the sub-continent and established the foundation of their rule.
This second volume British Rule in India covers the period from 1805 (Second Maratha War), a turning point for the East India Company, to 1858, when the East India Company had to cede control to the British Crown. It details how the British acquired territories by sly and dishonourable treaties and how their rule led to extremely large-scale economic exploitation. It painstakingly traces the history of the deliberate destruction of Indian industry and the plundering that went on under the guise of development.
Pandit Sunderlal was an eminent Gandhian and freedom fighter.

This is what happens when you only import the superficial appearance of secularism and not the foundation it is built on.
Secularism is very different from a sado-masochistic orgy of self-hatred or toleration of intolerance; it is rather a tactic for self-defense.
"Let's not talk about religion at all. To hell with religion" - that is the central aspect of secularism which these phony-intellectuals have always failed to grasp.
Secularism is not about meekly tolerating meta-physical or supernatural balderdash, or glorifying cherry-picked tenets of one religion over the other; it is about consciously resisting the very concept of religion altogether.
While, in the west, these concepts are instilled naturally, in India, these are not learnt spontaneously; rather their unrecognisable distortions are haphazardly drummed into our heads.
Read this: Is India secular?
Sure, this visualization is a flavor of parallel sets plots called parallel categories.
This specific plot has two vertical axes, representing two categorical dimensions - the Lok Sabha seats/constituencies and which parties won them in the 2014 election and the same in the 2019 election. Each axis is divided into sectors representing the seat share of a given party, proportional to the number of seats won by the party. So for example, in the 2014 axis, BJP has 282/543 seats and an associated sector about as long as half the axis. Similarly in the 2019 axis, BJP has 303/543 seats and an even longer sector. You could think of each axis as a pie-chart that's unrolled into a line. The shaded area between the two axes represents how these seats were either carried over, lost, or gained between parties. Seats are additionally color coded based on which party won it in the 2014 election.
Our fiscal marskmanship is a mess and no one is addressing that either.

No special exceptions should be made. Also the crime he's being accused of is not so trivial either. Why do these monks want to convert kids? The best (read the most wise) monks have been those with real world experience. You cannot see the light if you see the darkness of 'sansari' life first hand. In the book Siddhartha, when he meets Gautam Buddha for the first time, he refuses to become his disciple citing a simple reason. No amount of teaching can liberate his mind. He has to experience or acquire the ultimate knowledge/wisdom first hand otherwise he will still be riddled with questions. If in one lifetime you don't gain 'keval gyan', well sucks for you. Highly recommend this short 160 page book by Hermann Hesse.

People of all castes work shoulder to shoulder in RSS. It's actually a caste-free environment. Recommend reading this book by an ex-JNU prof: https://www.amazon.in/Republic-Hindutva-Reshaping-Indian-Democracy/dp/0670094048

Agreed. We should share the one's which we know about and bring them in the limelight.
With this, I would like to share a very new Indian app "Strippy" where users can read comics by individual Indian artists.
Let's add more.
Mainly it shows that there was a lot of thought put into the protest, and it wasn't this spontaneous climbing into a tractor that they have made it out to be.
The single use mask he is wearing costs Rs. 400.
The shoes he is wearing cost Rs. 12,500
It's pretty mild for a politician at his level, JJ used to carry around Gucci and Hermes hand bags and Omega watches, as did Mayawati. I'm sure Rahul owns such watches too, but only wears it when abroad.
Parents in India need to be educated about how to tackle parenting in digital world. I am a firm believer that children should NOT be completely cut off from mobiles but there should be monitoring by parents.
Internet for all intents and purposes is a shitty place with pockets of good stuff.
People need to be taught about apps like Google Family Link and stuff like Parental Controls on iOS.
Not even taking extreme cases I see way too many kids who are just way too obese and have little/no physical activity due to screen addiction.

Which Arthashastra? There are many. Penguin one is good http://www.amazon.in/Arthashastra-Kautilya/dp/0140446036
Have read it in parts though. Found it better than other one I had in Hindi years back at my grandpa's place which was highly rated but I didnt like it much. Also it was not printed anymore so...Anyways you will need someone knowledgeable to ask Qs to otherwise book is useless.
Its not easy to transpose his teachings to modern era. But once you start dissecting problem to its root cause, human nature & how vedanta breaks it down, then the correlation of his principles to situations becomes slightly easier.
And even then you do feel confused sometimes. As its common say in our culture, a guru is a must. Only realized it after trying to understand Kautilya and Ayurved.
I am guessing that is Flipkart. It is unavailable now, including the price.
On Amazon.com, it is listed for $2499. It has only one shady review:
>Incredible open back headphones!
As someone who has used varied types of headphones (using Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X right now), I can tell you that unless you are REALLY good at noticing quality of music or movies you are listening, you will be very disappointed by high-end headphones.
I bought my headphones for Rs.10,199 back in 2015 and I realized that there wasn't a big audio quality jump from the Creative USB headphone I was using before it (especially since I was using a better sound card too with these). But Audio-Technica are amazingly comfortable headphones and I need to do a proper comparison between these and next ones I will buy.

>Areo aggregates food dishes and home services across various local service providers, allowing users to order food or schedule appointments with a local beautician, electrician, painter, cleaner and plumber among others.
>It's worth noting that this is not the first time Google India has enabled transactions in verticals - it had earlier launched hotel bookings via Google hotel finder and flight bookings via Google Flights in India a few years back.
>However, what's different with Areo is that Google is completing the transaction on the behalf of the merchant on the app rather than taking them to the merchant's website on Hotel finder or Google Flights.
The 11-page document is available on many Indian Railways websites, some of which have been blocked by Indian agencies. The case is being investigated by the Jalong Police after a complaint by railway officials. "We have registered the case under various sections of IT Act and our cyber unit is investigating the case. It would be too early to say if this is the work of a terror organisation," Jalinder Supekar, SP, Jalong Police, told Mail Today over the phone.
