The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings: Deluxe Pocket Boxed Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/0544445783/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_A8EY4CHCMG45A92Q3PNE
I got these for Christmas a couple years back. Used them to read the series for the first time and I absolutely love them. The font is small but manageable.
Queer theory is a common tool seen in a lot of modern literature analysis and commentaries.
I will preface this with the fact that I did not/do not study literature in a detailed manner. I studied science at university, but my girlfriend holds a degree in literature, and some of her oomph has rubbed off of me.
With that being said, I feel that interpretation is individualistic. Of course there are things that are directly intended to be exposed by the author, however, there are plenty of areas that are open to interpretation.
Although I do not completely agree with your analysis, I can respect it. I really do feel that the love that Tolkien attempted to portray was a warrior's bond blended with a complex caste friendship.
A quick google search on queer theory and its use as an analysis tool in the Lord of the Rings brought me to this. I hope it helps with any thoughts you may have!
Love it! I got this doormat a couple months ago but I'm really disappointed because it did not come with the contrast that the picture shows, and after getting wet the lettering has faded to be almost illegible.
There are quite a few different LOTR stickers and window decals on https://www.etsy.com/ I know at least one vendor does custom work, although I can't remember the name right now. It would at least give you a starting point without needing to make a commercial sized order.
Any "new" edition should be pretty much identical. Only very early editions of The Hobbit will have significant textual differences.
For The Hobbit there is an edition out now for the 75th Anniversary or something that has Tolkien's original artwork and is hardcover. Edit: Like this one
For LotR there are plenty of box sets hadcover and paper back. It entirely depends on how much money you want to spend.
It was a gift! But I found it on amazon just now - https://www.amazon.com/Pieces-Jigsaw-Puzzles-Adults-Trilogy-1000-Piece/dp/B086XCX4SW/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Puzzles&qid=1608429315&refinements=p_lbr_characters_browse-bin%3AThe+Lord+of+the+Rings&s=toys-and-games&...
Really? Try these.
I bought this off amazon Map Of Middle Earth The Lord Of The Rings Fabric Canvas Cloth Poster Print For Bar Office Room Wall Print Home Decoration 14x17.99inch I would get the writing custom made. Etsy is full of people willing to make custom things and I’m sure they’d love business now!
You can find the same ones on Amazon for much cheaper. Can't testify for the difference in quality between the two tho
I wouldn't bother with much of the "optional stuff" until you've read the main trilogy twice. Silmarillion is a good next step.
Unfinished Tales is just that - a lot of "unfinished" and often contradictory stories. Something people new to the space don't quite understand is that a LOT of the works in UT/HoME are not actual complete, fleshed out stories - but notes on directions that Tolkien jotted down, him starting to take characaters/stories in certain places, changing his mind and then creating another version. But it's all recorded, so we read and study them all.
I would suggest avoiding those two for now as they might confuse you until you fully grasp the main stories. A lot of these subs also struggle with that when regarding the show, because they believe there is an actual "canon" that was broken having only read, say, the Silmarillion, without reading more of Tolkien's ideas for the second age.
My suggestion would be to read
Don't sleep on the readers companion; make sure it's the one by H&S. It's AMAZING, and it complements a second re-read so well.
Not really a fan of that version, but I can see why some would see the appeal.
Personally I got this version of the series, and I think it's the most aesthetically pleasing one there is!
Maybe An Unexpected Cookbook is what you are looking for. There are also some resources online like this rabbit stew. Just don't forget the po-ta-toes.
That seems right. I got one somewhere and it's a little treasure box. Like for rings, iirc.
Everything you say about Sauron's lack of "lines" in the second age is even more true of Galadriel, yet that hasn't been an obstacle to writing her as the chief protagonist. You really just seem to lack imagination.
And I've published several dozen books. Here's the one which is easiest to buy, https://www.amazon.com/Place-Consciousness-Probing-Structure-Philosophy/dp/0195168143/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=25MKF7I5QOE6I&keywords=gregg+rosenberg&qid=1662873068&s=books&sprefix=gregg+rosenberg%2Cstripbooks%2C89&sr=1-1
I got a good deal on amazon. It claims to be hardcover but its more like top tier paperback.
If you want something slightly differentServant of the Underworld: Obsidian and Blood, Book 1 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IL0PRWC/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_3QVSM0S06N9AMZA7G8H4 Especially in audiobook form it's like ancient Aztec fantasy meets grizzled detective drama sounds like a bit of combination but it really does work

I don't know what they eat in Hobbiton, but maybe similar to what's in the Elder Scrolls cookbook?
Over on that subreddit, people make dishes from it all the time and post pics
About 50 bucks give or take. And only a day or two if you have prime. They also have a prancing pony and a tree of Gondor one as well :)

I too am writing essays on The Lord of the Rings.
What theme/characters are you using? If you are using a theme, I would suggest searching for academic sources via your college archives. Someone in the library would be able to show you how to use it.
For example, if you are writing on the topic of friendship, you would search for the keyword "friendship" and hopefully be able to find some good academic journals and what not. Then you can use those and the books to make connections and prove your point.
This is also a good resource. http://scholar.google.com/
As for the characters, I would think you would just use the books. I would suggest doing something with archetypes. There are tons of good resources for that.
(Upvote so others can see this)
Kingdoms of Arda.
A mod for Mount & Bannerlord in the works that will be almost completely what you described, though you'll be able to play as a man also.
As a (learning) developer & gardener in the team, we are waiting for Bannerlord to be released so we can start coding and make this a reality.
The amazing artists in our team have already made a ton of 3D assets for it. You can see them here.
lol, yeah. The "To Read" pile only ever gets bigger, right?
Anyway, just found out the Kindle version of the collection of letters is on sale for super cheap right now, so I've got that now. Do you think it would be better to read through those before or after my LoTR/S reread? I remember the broad strokes of the stories well enough, but not so much, I think, the specific details.
(And a handy link for anyone scrolling through: https://www.amazon.com/Letters-J-R-Tolkien-ebook/dp/B008GOBR5E/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1640848769&sr=8-1)
I would love a poster of Middle Earth Map
Or maybe a LOTR related mug
My dad would say eBay. One of my employees uses this site all the time for purchasing, idk if it’s a good place to sell or not (I’ve never dealt with antique books myself).

Oh, an asshole, my fault. You see the medium this is drawn on is skin the skin holds many different properties. One of those properties is elasticity. So when a human male turns in order to take a photo, the skin (and thus the ink that resides in the skin) will bend. I'm glad you enjoyed your lesson today in anatomy.

Hopefully I did the link right. But that's it. Remastered extended trilogy, the back panel pic lists all the legacy goodies.
Tolkien did write a book called The Adventures of Tom Bombadil you can find it here here Adventures of Tom Bombadil
I believe that there is also a chapter in Unfinished Tales about him.

I think this will work as a direct link: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/V_Bulanov/publication/284156665_Glaurung_schneideri_gen_et_sp_nov_a_New_Weigeltisaurid_Reptilia_from_the_Kupfershiefer_Upper_Permian_of_Germany/links/564c866608ae020ae9fab2c0.pdf?inViewer=0&pdfJsDownload=0&...
On p. 1357: > Genus Glaurung Bulanov et Sennikov, gen. nov. Etymology. From the English Glaurung (name of a dragon ancestor after J.R.R. Tolkien).
I know I'm replying to my own thread here but if you're interested and can't get ahold of the new illustrated edition. The 50th Anniversary is on sale for $45 at https://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-50th-Anniversary/dp/0618517650/ref=monarch_sidesheet#customerReviews. I'll deal with the unwieldiness of the book if it looks this good and has a fold out map.
The blue edition is just a reprint however the red is the slipcased version and leather bound. There's also a white covered edition which is the cheaper version with Tolkien's illustrations (releasing 14/10/21 in the UK)
My girlfriend recently got me this
It's 15 bucks on Amazon, and every time I look at it on my bedroom wall it makes me happy.
I mean, it really depends on what books he wants. The Similarion is a whole separate book and I don't know if it comes in a set, which it ties in to Lord of the Rings very loosely, as in it is the early parts of the Middle Earth world.
There is also the Children of Hurin Book. But, both of these are not sold as set with the Lord of the Rings. If that makes sense. Here is a box set with it in it.
Here's an Amazon link. Looks like theres 38% off at the minute (UK). Very nice. I have them and to answer other comments, yes the text is small, but personally I've not struggled to read them. That said I'm lucky enough to have good vision and I can see why (excuse the pun) others might struggle. Enjoy. Amazon
The black belt came with it! But I had to re-wrap it and secure it down where I thought it looked better! Here’s the link to the one I ordered on amazon! Irish Ring Hilt Celtic Medieval Crusader Sword with Scabbard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M34L2A7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3purCbK02ZEPK
My son is a big LOTR fan so I got him a LOTR hoodie off Amazon. It's got The Prancing Pony Barlimans Best logo on it. They have several variations.
GEEK TEEZ Prancing Pony... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073HWYSGW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
If you are willing to spend $200 try this
But that sword looks fairly good besides the grip color.
How can I order the Hobbit as 4K SteelBook from Europe? On amazon there is only the standard 4K version (which can't be shipped to Europe) and the only other vendor I could found is Bestbuy, which has the SteelBox Edition but also does not ship to Europe.
The only thing I can think of is the Weta books released on the Hobbit movies, there's a book on the concept art of the film. Don't think that's exactly what you're looking for though. Here's a link anyway.
I know I am a bit late but try this: Tolkien's World from A to Z: The Complete Guide to Middle-Earth.
It is like a Tolkien dictionary. I used it to familiarize myself with Middle Earth. It's arranged alphabetically so you can look up character names, events etc.
