I was JUST thinking that I need to start working out with other people! I've always exercised alone, and it's really easy to get comfortable in your own pace/ level. I hope we can maybe get together like a whole group of 30-something fitness beginners in NYC! :o)

I made the group!

Oh, I don't mean that we bring out our gaming gear and play on it. Waypoint Cafe provides machines that you can rent by the hour with steam already installed on them. So we can go and play on them! Although probably bringing your mouse/keyboard along is an ok idea if you have some weird setup that you're used to. I know one guy played on an Amazon Kinesis and was so used to it, he couldn't even manage to skill shot/cast properly on regular Qwerty keyboards!
edit: spelling
I know a guy who has 3 extra finals tickets. PM'ed you his steamid.
I am planning to meet up in Manhattan this Saturday around noon.
PM Me for meetup details and what book you want (to see if it is taken).
We're opening a clubhouse with a paranormal detective agency on the 1st. We're mainly millennials, but a lot of folks up to their fifties. For now, join us on meetup.
FYI there's currently a Groupon deal for Spa Castle (they have this one a lot): https://www.groupon.com/deals/spa-castle-ny-college-point-11
Sorry, I'm not much of a math guy. But you should look at this if you have to take calculus in the future. Am I suggesting you take a free online class before you take a class for credit at a college? Yes. Why? because math is hard and it's better to have practice before you're tested on it. Good luck to you!
u/Yeezus_Hchrist u/nybiggs u/egrodo u/Harrisonthu I'd be down to try to go next weekend too--caveat is there is a big thing at work that weekend so I may need to go in, but I think I can avoid it. (If not, you all can just go without me, of course.) Maybe tentatively Sunday, since it looks like it may rain Saturday.
We could do the breakneck ridge hike, or perhaps a more relaxed hike might be appropriate, since we're not familiar with each other/each other's experience/etc., and Breakneck Ridge is one where you can't easily turn around. Here are two proposed routes--one in black and one in purple.
Will message you all my phone number.

You should come to this one. DSPT is definitely worth the money as is, but you also have got to check out The Living Strange opening for them. They're the best local act and are a band you're going to want to get in on early.

I'd second this. I use Meetup.com to find tons of free social events and people to workout with. Also, if you are trying to put something together yourself, just post it here and you will get some responses of people who might be interested. Good luck!
I'd be down to grab a drink sometime (38/M). I suggest hitting up some of the meetups, either organized on here or on Meetup.com. I'm part of a Craft Brew Meetup that gets a nice crowd of friendly people. The next meetup is Wednesday Jan 23rd at the Blind Tiger Ale House at 7pm. DM me if you want a link to the meetup page, are coming to that meetup (I'll look for you) or want to meet up sometime. Welcome to NYC!
I think you are right about hardware type jobs - I haven't come across anyone freelancing in that space yet. There is definitely work in web development across the spectrum. I use PHP and work on custom sites as well as supporting legacy sites. I enjoy PHP, and there are so many sites built on it that there are always people looking for freelancers for it. I use Upwork.com to find clients - if you haven't tried it yet, I'd suggest signing up and then searching for hardware projects to see if there are any and go from there. In general, you don't have to be the smartest developer to be good at freelancing. A huge part of it is organization, communication and being reliable when working with a client. Once I established myself as good with all of those, my best clients have been coming by word of mouth. The next step for my own business is growing my number of retainer clients.

Birman is playing at the AMC Lincoln Square, which is also really convenient for me... (and some other theaters) I'd love to go with anyone who's interested. I'm ok with other movies too, but Birman is what I'm most interested in. http://www.fandango.com/birdman_176140/movietimes?location=10023
