There is no right answer, each does the same job, it is a preference of the user.
(Source: G*ood to Go: What the Athlete in All of Us Can Learn from the Strange Science of Recovery,* by Christie Aschwanden)
Despite the science-y name, this book was AMAZING as it examined each type of recovery. Every chapter is easy to read, science-based explanation of the different forms of recovery. The book covers foam rolling, theragun, massage, compression pants, Gatorade, sleeping, vs beer, as a means of recovering after a hard workout. If you don't want to read the book, the TLDR is that whatever YOU think is the best, will be the BEST. Part placebo, part action, it works. But the best form of recovery is SLEEP, 100% SLEEP.
I hit 5000 minutes today! I am super excited to be on track to finish the year with 10k, which was my goal. I think I did 3000 minutes in the first 2 months of the year, and was on track for 15k for the year, but then March was a disaster at work, April I don't know what happened, and May my dog got sick for a week and I was barely sleeping, I went on vacation for a week, and I was planting my vegetable garden like crazy. So it took me 4 months to hit the other 2000 minutes and that's ok.
I did Ally's Juneteenth ride (I preferred the music and energy of Alex's, but hers was still good) and then today's hard core on the floor full stack. I've never done the full one before, I have today off from work so have more time, and it was great, but almost an hour and a half working out isn't realistic for me day in and day out. I do want to do more strength so I might try to do the full day a few times/week.
To celebrate 5000 minutes I treated myself to the navy Peloton/lululemon pants I've been eyeing and two 25# dumbbells that were on sale for $26.59/each for Prime Day. I might have to leave a gift for the Amazon delivery person who drops them off.
I'm off to hike with the dog and wander about Whole Foods. Happy Monday!
Well ... I spent all my money on the Peloton.
Lmao, kidding but not really.
I chose the Apollo Kinetics Pulse Massage Gun on Amazon for $90. The attachments are a tad different but it includes the carrying case you have to purchase with the others, and so far I love it. I haven't tried the premium brands so I can't give much of the comparison Apollo Kinetics . I wanted to see if its something I'd like before I spent that chunk of change.
Happy amazon prime day everyone! Has anyone seen any fitness related deals that you want to get in on?
My favorite cheap workout shorts are 33 percent off. I prefer the baleaf brand 8 inch inseam with side pockets. I use them for both cycling and running. baleaf high waisted shorts
The garmin vivoactive 4s is also on sale and I’m considering upgrading my current garmin. Right now I’ve got the vivoactive 3. I don’t have a huge reason to replace it but there are a couple of cool features on the 4s that the 3 doesn’t have. I’m going to sleep on it before I make a decision.
After waiting for WEEKS AND WEEKS my bike delivery day is Wednesday! Finally!!! I am beyond excited.
I'm going from a pretty sedentary lifestyle as of recently to (hopefully) every day rides with some yoga, stretching and other classes sprinkled in as well. I am so excited to start this new part of my life. I've been following this page for a while and I'm stoked to be able to contribute more once I start riding.
I am setting up a little exercise corner in my garage with a poured concrete floor and I did not purchase a mat for the bike. I am looking at these mats so I can have my bike on them and have some extra space for stretching and a yoga mat.
Do you all think these are ok? I don't know what to really look for while trying to find this sort of thing that will work. I'm not worried about damage to the floor but I want to have a consistent and flat exercise area for myself and I want to make sure the bike will be stable.
this alarm clock launches a helicopter when it goes off, and won't stop til you return it to the base :)
Just got this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082SW1HCR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It swivels any which way and rotates and been working well. There are some complaints about legs breaking so I just keep it where it is and charge it on the bike. 3 speeds and good battery life so far. Also when I'm doing my bike side post ride stretches, can swivel it towards my sweaty face!
I personally like to work out on an empty stomach but drink a BCAA / recovery mix throughout training. I like this one:
If you feel like you need to eat something, try a piece of Dave’s Bread (I like the whole grain 21 seeds) toasted plain or with light peanut/almond butter or a banana.

Is it possible that if you may have inadvertently tipped it over? I've had times when my blood pressure was very low, and getting up too suddenly would result in dizziness and lightheadedness and I've dropped a cup or two over the years that way (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/low-blood-pressure/symptoms-causes/syc-20355465). I could see this happening after a hard ride, and it could result in both tipping the bike over, and not really knowing how it happened.
They look like this (not my pics), without the pedals on the picture.
https://offerup.com/item/detail/879493026
They are a PITA (imagine clipping and in clipping your shoes by hand) but you definitely don’t want to use shoes on the peloton pedals. It might work for casual scenic ride but for regular rides they’d 100% need cages.
Here is the one we have and it’s great! BalanceFrom GoFit High Density Treadmill Exercise Bike Equipment Mat https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N808QIH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_PK1H3VT4PSKQSJZ4G3PP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Floor mat recommendations!
I have wooden flooring and as I am trying to get into more of the Strength workouts, I realized I needed something a little larger. I believe a redditor had mentioned Tractor Supply since they are durable and inexpensive compared to "Gym" mats. Anyone else have experience with them?
Another recommendation I had come across was on Amazon
Great question, a lot to unpack here.
As always, I 100% recommend any person riding the bike to use clipless pedals. They result in a better experience and are more stable. Full stop.
Having said that, the PD-EH500 is a great pedal, but are SPD on one side and an open platform on the other—unsafe in this setting and you can do better.
These pedals for example would be a good option:
https://www.amazon.com/BV-Shimano-Compatible-Pedals-Included/dp/B081BDDGJ8/
Peloton sends out super janky toe cage adapters (https://youtu.be/nRF0HLNOSlM) that adapt to their standard Look Delta pedals, so this only solves one of your problems.
I would recommend either encouraging dad to get a pair of SPD shoes and switching out to SPD pedals, buying a pedal similar to the one above, or switching everyone over to Look Delta.
If you elect to swap the pedals, you can try to ask the installers to put them on for you, some people have had good luck with that. If not, it’s really easy and requires a 15 mm wrench. Instructions are in our wiki!
Good luck!!
I ended up getting one of the Garmin chest straps which pairs instantly with the bike and no complaints so far...although it was $16.99 when I bought it on Feb 3rd, so price seems to fluctuate a lot. Garmin on Amazon
Connect with a community. A big one for me is Reddit because it’s the best Pelo community (duh), but plan rides with friends, follow people with hilarious usernames, follow people who have similar output, join live rides. Immersing yourself will naturally help you push harder.
I have this $20 speaker I bought a few years ago and it balances perfectly on my bike and has great sound output and I don’t have to worry about future hearing loss with headphones
Decide whether or not you’re going to work out after you work out. This sounds silly, but rhere has only been 1 time where I regretted working out, and that was because I had a cold brewing. I nearly never regret a workout. That being said, listen to your body!
I saw another person with something similar and it made me laugh... It was like a reverse playpen haha parent inside and child outside
I'm a pet parent (and my 8 lb dog isn't very adventurous/she scares easily). My bike is in a corner so has walls on 2 sides and then I have some pet barriers (originally either from Groupon or TJ Maxx but look like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N569AHA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EdRgFbF4NXYS8) that I've kept around the other sides. She's learned the mat is off limits so I don't put them up every time
We got this: Amazon link
If you have the Peloton mat, it fits nearly perfectly around the edges in the same rectangular shape when assembled. Very efffective, and imo it actually didn’t look terrible! Not sure it would work if you had a big floor fan if you wanted it within the enclosed space, but we use a clip on fan so it was fine. Now we also have a WaterRower for CITYROW, and we’ve used the fencing to partition off a corner of our basement, so it doesn’t look as clean now. Let me know if you want to see a pic of our current setup.
Haha, can you imagine? Whenever I see ads for Match.com or eHarmony promoting using video chat to get to know someone on virtual dates, I simply cannot. I'm awkward enough in person, trying to explain to someone over video chat about my weird-ass home decor would be a nightmare.
Charcoal Shoe Inserts (Amazon) They work like a charm, inexpensive and help heed off odors too.
This is what I have to keep my cats away
https://www.amazon.ca/Interior-Porta-23-Cappuccino-32x80-Solid/dp/B01J27SV6Q
I got this one for $26 Amazon Prime and it seems to be working very well.
ProSource Exercise Equipment & Treadmill Mat High Density PVC Floor Protector, 3 x 6.5-feet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GNLKZ28/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_ly4IAb77PC0W2
I got pedal and clear dry lubricant from amazon - sprayed that on the pedal and on the cleats of my shoes and the squeaky noise went away.
So great, right? I have this one. Do buy a longer USB extender cord if you get it.
I have it connected to a smart plug so I can just tell Siri to turn it on. I also have Philips Hue bulbs in a couple of my lamps so I can add different colours in addition to this, but I usually just use the stars for rides. I often use the Hue bulbs to set a warm glow for yoga. I love this stuff!
I tried a couple of the more expensive dome lights that do different colours and patterns and ocean waves and all that, but they were low quality and bulky and definitely not worth 2-3 times the price of the one I have.
I -think- it's from Atelier Activewear. I found one that is similar on Amazon.
Calorically your after workout shake is about the same calories you just burned.
So you’re canceling the two out.
Workout before breakfast, or split breakfast in half and have half before and half after your workout.
Also as much as it sucks you gotta use something like cronometer to make sure you’re getting a nutrient dense diet.
Many of the beginner running classes are actually intervals and may be more doable than you expect!
My preferred sports bra has been sadly discontinued but this brand is almost as good and half the price:

I bought these Easyfeet ones because I had used them before and liked them, but I think anything that’s thicker than the insole they come with might help..?
The new GW4 is on WearOS now and I have had luck in the past with the app "Heart for Bluetooth" on my Fossil Sport watch that is also on WearOS.
Anecdotally, my heart rate measured on my Fossil seemed low compared to my Polar OH1 arm hrm but maybe the GW4 has better sensors!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lukas.the.coder.heartforbluetooth&hl=en&gl=US
There were not really any technical difficulties. Buffered once I think but that is normal for me for live rides. He wore USA flag pants and a Peloton top with the olympic kind of theme they have going. He did a "Go USA" shoutout during the US song and told people to go look up Whitney Houston's Star Spangled Banner., I hope that wouldn't be considered too political or anything. It wasn't political at all I just can't think of why it wouldn't be up.
Not a small company, but here to rep team cheap-ass, I love Hanes lightweight no show $16 for 6 and they’re my favorite for cycling!
I had the interlocking gym tiles when they delivered the bike, and I was told those mats are a little too thick for the stabilizers to work right, so I ended up getting this mat to protect my hardwood floors. No problem so far.
I got this set off Amazon for under $16. It includes 2 blocks, strap, and a carry bag (flimsy, but whatever). Works great for me.
I used the bike for 3 months and while it didn’t hurt me as much it was irritating a bit so I opted to buy a seat cushion. This has made all the difference! Domain Cycling Premium Bike Gel... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015VJ9GTA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I've been cycling (road bike) for years and always wore padded shorts. When I began riding Peloton I kept on with the shorts, and also got a padded seat cover because I'd heard it makes it more comfortable. About a year ago I was traveling and used a Peloton in a hotel gym, no padded shorts and no seat cover. And SO COMFORTABLE!! I've been wearing shorts without padding and ditched the seat cover since and feel so much better. These are the shorts I purchased recently and I find them to be very comfortable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08LYMQM4J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Good luck!
I just finished reading this book about stopping drinking (mainly because Chrissy Teigen recommended it lol) but it was pretty interesting!
There are probably others, but apparently you can do an ethernet to usb c connection and it will work

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Ethernet-Portable-1-Gigabit-Chromebook/dp/B00ZZ6NW5E
My brother gave me one of these for Christmas last year and it’s great. Especially for the price now that I see it. I had bought a different one before for like $150 and it sounded like a sawzall with 1 power setting and 1 attachment. The Pfum is way better, great value.
These are the ones I've been using mostly (fyi link is to Amazon Canada)
OMG me too!! I legit have a candle that smells like grapefruit just to recreate the soul-vibe (i'm a nut) and... I have a light that I got from amazon that's basically a club light that syncs with the music in different colors- so it's like a little studio-club. I guess with everything being closed, it's as clubby as I get in NYC. I particularly like the effect with the EDM rides! Nerd alert. :)
Powerbeats3 are fantastic, but so are these Anker sound buds slim ones from Amazon. Cheap at $25 and pretty great sound quality. I couldn't get my Bose ones to work with the bike. Terrible connection.
For my daily Peloton workout, I wear cheap bike shorts I got on Amazon -- actually really good, esp. for $16. And then beater t-shirts because I'm usually drenched after a ride. Also, some cheapo Garneau socks, and my trusty Sidi shoes.
On the road I have become hooked on Assos bibs -- the best. (Word to the wise, Assos has an outlet store where you can get stuff at big discounts.) Then I have a selection of jerseys, and some Assos socks (also the best).
49 is a tough size. I would recommend a ratchet or Boa strap tongue for that size of foot. Just don’t get enough purchase with only velcro.
If you don’t like these, I would recommend getting a well reviewed pair from Bike Nashbar or Performance cycle. They will allow you to sort by size. Beyond that, make sure they are 3 hole compatible for the Delta cleats. Good starting shoe on my opinion. Not cheap but not pricey. You can easily spend 2x this in your size. These will last you a long time.
As far as pedal compatibility, Peloton uses the Look Delta interface. You can order the cleats from Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01B8P8FL6/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?psc=1
These have 9 degrees of float, which is what Peloton claims the ones they send with the shoes are. The “originals” from Peloton feel slightly more restrictive. I ordered the Amazon pair to fix the squeaking I get from the cleat while I am out of the saddle. The Amazon pair works just fine, and if you don’t like how much float they have, there is a bi-material pair with only 6 degrees of float.
After several months of trying the standard Peloton seat, padded bike shorts, gel covers, creams, ice soaks, massages, and even a highly recommended $180 seat from biking friends that sucked just as bad as the Peloton seat we finally called BS on the, “oh, you’ll get use to it" claims by others. It was so bad the wife gave up ridding the Peloton completely, so as a last resort before selling it, I bought a Giddy-Up seat off Amazon to try and it's been pure pleasure ever since. The wife loves it! We both have done over hour long rides with no butt soreness or issues! I can not tell you how much we love this seat. After 8 months this seat is showing no signs of wear. Not bad for a $30 seat.
Fuck the bike purest, if your having issues with the standard seat then get yourself a comfy seat.
https://www.amazon.com/Giddy-Up-Bike-Seat-Comfortable/dp/B0765ZBZ34
Honestly it looks good on the bike and besides who cares how it looks? Your the only one that can see it.
Peloton uses look delta pedals and therefore you need to get Look Delta cleats.
I got these off amazon to solve a squeaky cleat issue I was having with the peloton cleat: Look Delta Bi Material Cleat, Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OZCI56/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bQy9Bb9F45VSV
As far as the shoe you can get any cycling shoe that supports a 3 hole cleat.
Amazon is your friend. I have these as a size 13 and love them. You'll need to use the size chart to convert his size to the European size and then search Amazon for shoes that fit that size.

I would see if you can find an oval locking carabiner clip that is small enough to work! I feel like I’ve seen them at Lowe’s for keychains and such...
8mm Quick Link Oval Carabiner Chain Quick Links Connector 4pcs M8 Stainless Steel

This is the closest thing I can find on amazon but these would be way to big!
I use 7th Generation All Purpose Free & Clear with a microfiber towel. No streaking and no lint/fibers left behind.
Bought a bottle of Whoosh screen cleaning spray for the tablet. Works like a charm.
Just to clarify, are you asking how we plan, or the types of things we use to plan them? For me personally, I can't have another list or app on my phone - I'd just ignore it. So what I did was get a blackboard magnetic checklist and monthly calendar from Amazon (non-affiliate link - this is what I used). I LOVE this. The markers are okay, but order better chalk markers than what comes with the kit. I use the bottom right square as a color key for the different workout types and then plan out my week accordingly using the daily squares. I use the monthly calendar to track my monthly running mileage goal as I don't have a Tread and Peloton won't let me track running mileage on tread classes as I'm an app user for running classes.
Couple of things come to mind:
I just finished the program. Like everyone else said Mat and dumbbells. I had 5lb and 10lb but for squats I needed more. Ended up buying these as the cheapest and most available set of weights I could find. Unfortunately they are not well suited to change the weight in the middle of the workout. If you've got money to burn, then you'd likely be much happier with a really nice set of adjustable dumbbells like the Bow flex mentioned. I just couldn't justify it, though I'm keeping my eyes out for someone trying to sell them.
This charging mount works with different cases and sizes of iPhones. The phone is held by the lightning connector at the base and rests on the crossbar of the handlebar, with the connector adjusting forward or back to the correct angle.
Thingiverse file here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4567437
It uses 2x M4 x 20mm screws and hex nuts, and is designed for this cable but could be modified for others: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KWM4DQN/
I bought a portable fan that I wrap directly around the handlebars: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07WC6JCYL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_ra3DFbRJ8050E
It works really great and is surprisingly powerful (I usually only put it on Speed 2 out of 4). You have to remember to keep it charged, but I only do 30 minute rides so it lasts a decent amount of time.
They make suspended guards that catch sweat in the air, rather than the type that you stretch across the frame, I guess with the idea that a soaked towel against the bike still promotes rust. But I've never used either type so I can't attest firsthand if it really matters.

Wouldn't you just sweat on to the glass protector?
Smart phones get protectors to help when you drop them. If you want a clean screen, I got this from Amazon due to its reviews - it's pricey, but does work amazingly well and lasts for ages. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01054S5FM (or https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01054S5FM/ if you're in the US).
here's the handlebar pad i got to help https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074ZP1QRN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_3uWvCb2FM51WH?
as others have mentioned, a gel seat pad or padded shorts may help! i used a pad for a year before i could ride without it.
Testicular torsion is a real issue when riding a bike. It happen to me and I needed emergency surgery. See https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/testicular-torsion/symptoms-causes/syc-20378270
I would suggest that males take some care when riding.
>er up Peloton
I use a hole punch and a waterproof bandaid (Nextcare) to put a couple circles on the top and bottom of my airpods. They stay in much better - still not as good as others, but I get to use what I already own :)

So, I’ve looked into this a bit and am tuckering out. What’s your final goal? Are you interested in high performance (VO2 Max) or adapting to apply Peloton as a clinical tool for measuring lower performance/elderly patients?
One thing I did find is “ACSM Leg Ergometry Equation” from a few sources, including this slide deck: https://www.slideshare.net/mobile/hunchxx/met-calnew
The equation is as follows:
Power is in watts (via leg ergometer, I.e. Peloton), mass is in kg.
Not sure how well this works, and I can’t vouch for the accuracy of the Peloton as an ergometer. So it depends on what you’re looking for. Hope this at least gets you started. Good luck.
I figured it out for Cricut machines. Cricut doesn't include software that makes cutouts out of a whole picture. I used pixlr ( https://pixlr.com ) to make the files into cutout files. Easy to use FREE online photo editor. I used the MAGIC CUTOUT tool with a tolerance of 10. Now I have perfect little individual stickers that will work on the Cricut using Print then Cut. I did break the sheets in half because Cricut restricts the size of page you are using with the Print then Cut feature. Thank you again!
I use this fan and I love it! I wrap it on my bike and it’s made a difference in my workouts (I’m less miserable and sweaty lol)
> I’ll just need to find a way to modify I suppose!

I got this phone holder for cheap on prime day last year. I like that it easily attach/detaches and I can also take it with me on my bike outside when I need a map. I attach it to the upper portion of the handlebars
Seconding everyone who just said to go to your local Walmart, Target, etc. Amazon also sells the same thing as Walmart.

Yeah that description is just wrong on Amazon. Probably some off-brand seller. The main LOOK page confirms black is 0 and red is 9.
These were my go to gym headphones pre-Peloton. They are cheap and I didn't care if they got sweaty and I wasn't worried about losing them like my AirPods.
I was surprised when I got the shoes and they had those knock off cleats that you linked to in the first image when they charge that much.
I boughtgenuine Look brand ones for my OH's Nike SuperReps and for the small extra cost I'll most likely just get the branded ones rather than compatible when mine wear out.

I’ve had this on since day 1, and have not experienced any pain. Maybe slight discomfort for the first 3 rides, but that was it. It doesn’t move at all, still on my bike.
Not sure if it’s my anatomy or the gel seat cover, so YMMV.
Should I be worried about a phone magnet breaking the monitor eventually? Like with magnetic interference?

You'd also then be able to use them to make sure you get things tight when installing the new crank arm.
any sort of budget, color, function, etc in mind? anything you liked or didn't like about the peloton shoes?
i wear these - mostly because i had them still new in box that i had bought for my road bike but never got around to putting cleats on them (and i had only bought them to have something to match my kits that don't match my current hot pink road shoes, haha)...but i require something with three straps because i have a super high instep and cycling shoes often put my toes to sleep if i don't have the adjustability!
This is what I have and I love it! It stores upright or flat. No incline but I’m ok with that. A true space saver. I would love a Tread one day even though I found it noisy when I saw it at the Peloton store showroom. But it is a mammoth and I just don’t have the room. fyc 2 in 1 fold treadmill
Have you tried switching to elastic shoe laces? Then you don't have to tie them, you just sorta pull on the string and they lock in place.
Having had two ACL surgeries, I feel ya. I have a foam pad I use for anytime I have to get on my knees for strength exercises which I recommend- Foam Mat
My mom got me this set of bath bombs last year, and I really enjoyed them. Good scent without being overpowering, didn't stain or leave a slippery residue on the tub, but still left my skin feeling soft and my mind relaxed from the scent.
However, now I totally want to check out these shower steamers!
I live in a 1 bedroom and this 3'x4' mat works great for me-
A 4 x 2 mat fits the diameter of the mat perfectly. We got the Sunny Health one off Amazon. We actually got the peloton mat too. However it doesn’t fit the space and we’ve never opened it. The entire bike fits on 4x2 and any sweat drops down on to the bike or mat.

I put these on Origin8 Dual Sport SPD Single and they look awesome and work great.
They have spikes on the flat side. I haven’t actually tried that side but no complaints from guests.
I use the Peloton shoes. When I bought the bike, I bought shoes for me and my wife. In the box that came with the bike, there was a 3rd pair of cleats. I swapped those with the ones on my shoes.
I didn't buy an extra pair of cleats. A new pair is $14 on amazon https://www.amazon.com/BV-Cleats-Compatible-Delta-Degree/dp/B01B8P8FL6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1475089404&sr=8-4&keywords=bike+shoe+cleats
Not sure why wireless headphones would be considered must have -- FYI the tablet has sound which is adequate. You only need headphones if you are trying to not disturb others in the household.
I highly recommend bike shorts if you don't have them. I found some inexpensive ones on Amazon that are fine for everyday, non-road use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N21AGOK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also found some decent cycling socks that aren't crazy expensive: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N99ETG7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Before you spend $125 on a new seat, I would try some bike shorts -- I'm guessing you're not using them? I found these "everyday" shorts on Amazon and I've been very happy with them for use with the Peloton.
Wife has the same problem. Her butt just couldn't take that Peloton seat no matter what adjustment we tried and after several seat recommendations from rider friends didn't work we finally tried one more seat.
The GiddyUp! on Amazon did the trick! Yea it looks ridiculous on the Amazon site but it worked for her. Now she is enjoying pain free rides. And I find I don't even need padded bike shorts with this seat. Those big shock absorbing balls underneath help allot as they absorb the ass bone pushing down on each stroke allowing the seat to rock back and forth with the motion of your butt instead of the bone being pressing against a hard seat surface. Here are some pics of it on our Peloton Bike.
I didn't buy any accessories from Peloton directly since there was no offer at the time and the referral program was still the old version where both parties got 2 months free. If you use a referral code to get $100 off accessories, I would suggest to use it toward shoes ($125) and buy everything else you need elsewhere.
Bought Diadora and Shimano shoes for me and DH from UK cycling sites at substantial discounts that offered free shipping.
Got the mat and wireless earbuds from Amazon. 2.5 x 5' mat: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001THTUAO Earbuds (I have an older version); I only use them on the bike so I didn't want to spend too much: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06ZZSQQTD
Also got a Mio Link HRM from Amazon that died within a few months, so I replaced it with the Scosche Rhythm+, which was recommended by many other riders.
I don't do arms while riding, so didn't buy weights.
There have been a lot of comments already but for me none of the accessories from Peloton are really worth it and can be had somewhere else online for less (or just better quality, as in the HRM).
For the weights...you can get a 20 lb set (3 pairs of different weights) from Amazon for about what Peloton charges for just a pair. Yes, the colors a little funky, but you can probably find some more neutral colors for a bit more if you look around. link: Amazon Dumbbell Set
For the HRM...I purchased the Scosche Rythm+. It's priceier but it goes on your forearm instead of a strap around your chest so I thought it was worth it.
For the shoes...I ordered a few pairs online from websites that had free or very low cost return shipping to find a pair that fit right. The wife's shoes were about $60 and my shoes were about $45, they were previous year models so were found in the sale/clearance section of the sites. Some of the sites I visited when looking were sierratradingpost.com, nashbar.com, and artscyclery.com, but there are plenty more out there.
For the mat...we already had one from a previous stationary bike we owned. It was from Amazon and about $28, it fit the Peloton so we decided to keep and use that one.
The only thing I did get from Peloton were the Urbanears Hellas Wireless Headphones. The only reason I got them from Peloton was because I had a referral code to get $100 off of accessories and because that was the only item I saw from Peloton that could not be had for a good amount less elsewhere. They still charged me a separate $12.95 to get the headphones shipped to me since they don't arrive with the bike. They only have black though (if they still sell them), so if you want another color you will have to buy them elsewhere.
Hope this helps.
We looked at lots of shoes, and ended up with Louis Garneau Men's Actifly Indoor Cycling Shoes, A Collaboration with Reebok. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071CQ551D/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They're made specifically for indoor cycling, and are more comfortable than any of the ones we tried on. Plus, they are available in my size (49).
The cleats were the Look Delta ones from Amazon that have been referenced here in many previous threads. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B8P8FL6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So far, I'm very happy with the shoes and cleats.
This one has been good enough for me, but then again it’s like the first one I saw on amazon, so I don’t know if it’s better than others:

I love earbuds but hated apples option/other true wireless options. Maybe I have weird shaped ears or sweat too much... Who knows.
I took a chance on these from Amazon and have loved them. They have a rubber tip that sits in the ear canal. I'm a prolific sweater too and these don't budge! The battery case lasts forever. I've only charged it three times and I use them daily and have had them for months.
Wireless Earbuds Bluetooth... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G9YJ8GD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I use Assos for cycling & love them. Since they are premium, I didn't want to wear them out with everyday use... I found these Louis Garneau socks on Amazon and have been very happy with them. 3 pairs for $12.
We've had our bike for 2 1/2 weeks and I'd say that half the time I use padded shorts (these https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N4MYD2V/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Someone in this group recommended them and they were cheap enought that I bought a couple on Amazon, but I honestly don't think they really do much.
There was a little soreness from the saddle during the first week but I don't even notice it now which is why the other half of the time I just wear basketball/gym shorts without padding.
It sounds like you have experience cycling so that should help you sit in the saddle correctly. Taking the FTP classes has really helped me get my form and body alignment just right.
