I think the UHD60 has a "light border" which is normal. The only thing you can do is mask the outside of your screen with something like this https://www.amazon.com/60-Enhancing-Projector-ConClarity-Brightens/dp/B01MSSNLQP/
Okay, your idea would work, you just need an fm transmitter, which basically makes a radio station you tune each unit into. They seem to be linked on all pages with those little receivers you show.
Another way is wired, like Dorktron suggested.
Or my thought was to go with infrared wireless headphones.
They are fairly inexpensive and many headphones can be used with the one transmitter, similar to how your ones work. They're also a universal sort of thing that a lot of in car DVD players all use, so they're very common.

Example headphones
You probably can get them for better deals than what I just linked, that's just literally the first ones I found.
USB isn't usually a good way to do video to a projector. It also will need drivers. Does the projector have Mac drivers available? Can you even do video over that connection, sometimes those are just for control or very basic flash drive image viewing.
USB to HDMI is basically an external graphics card. These are usually DisplayLink. Again it needs drivers, but in that case from DisplayLink. If I remember right DisplayLink had issues with Mojave support for a while (maybe still do??).
Your best bet is to not use USB. Standard video outputs are, in my experience, more reliable and consistent. So a mini-DP to HDMI adaptor would be the best option (https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Anbear-Display-ThunderboltTM-Compatible/dp/B01HEG8UY0). Then the graphics card is doing everything natively and generating your HDMI output. No USB drivers or system interaction needed.
This slickdeals thread says the Optoma HD29DARBEE will be at Newegg.
That's the one I have my eyes on right now.
I second f.lux. I use it myself and it seems to help quite a bit.
A projector by itself would not help, and if you got a "bad" one you could just end up compounding the problem (headaches, eye strain, etc) because the resolution and contrast will not be conducive to reading text.
Also check out lowering the brightness of your laptop screen - most screens are set awfully high by default and you can usually get away with significantly dimming the screen, which might help. (Not too much though, otherwise you'll be right back with eye strain problems)
There's not enough information here, namely how large is your screen (and what is its gain)? I have a 2200 lumen projector aimed at a 120" 1.1x gain screen. I run in Eco Rec709 mode to conserve bulb life and preserve accuracy which is supposedly ~700 lumens and even that looks great in a light controlled room. Putting numbers to this, movie theaters target 16ftL (http://www.acousticfrontiers.com/2013325image-brightness/) and my setup actually displays 18ftL @ 700 lumens brightness. So yes, 2000 should be bright in most light controlled setups.
I did quite a bit of research on projectors before I bought this one. But I have been really surprised with how great it is. Runs full hd and looks really great. On the top end of your budget but I strongly recommend it. Optoma HD146X High Performance Projector for Movies & Gaming | Bright 3600 Lumens | DLP Single Chip Design | Enhanced Gaming Mode 16ms Response Time https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0842QPR1Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_0K3VA3C44RREQPZMHREV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Epson 5050UB. Spent a few months poring over reviews and what swayed me was the black levels for its price point and the brightness. I just leave it on the brightest dynamic mode all the time and it looks amazing. The auto-iris is a bit of a gimmick IMO so I leave it off. All the cinema modes are supposedly more color accurate but dynamic is the only one that gives you that HDR-like quality where really bright lights make you squint a little. My opinion on color accuracy is that unless I'm using it as a reference display or for editing, "close" is good enough.
The one downside is some ghosting for 3D but it's pretty rare that I watch 3D stuff.
I got it back in 2018, if I was buying another projector today I'd look really closely at some of the 4k laser projectors out nowadays. Only reason I haven't gone UST is the limited screen size.
Speaking of screens I'm currently using this one which I've been pretty happy with, but now I'm looking for a ~160" screen that isn't absurdly expensive.
You can't really tell in the photo but I have the spandex sheet at a slight angle so that the base is further out than the top - this pretty much eliminates the light bounce off of the glass doors, but only because this stuff is really heavy weight. While it does work very well for either front or rear projection you can't "see" through it like you can the cheaper screens.

This QualGear mount has worked great for me and my 5050UB. It’s rated for up to 70lbs so it leaves you lots of breathing room.
That's an HDMI cable, and your photos show USB-C ports on your laptop. I'm not a mac person, but you should be able to search for HDMI to USB-C adapters or AV hubs. I'd look for statements that macs are supported.

I bought these a long while back. Unfortunately, they're sold out. But any "Active" 3D glasses will work.
'05 MSRP of $9K was due to the resolution I imagine. Huge resolution for back in those days.
The lamp cost alone is reason to steer clear, but also the lumens wont do you well at all.
I would recommend doing your research and answer all the questions you have. Check the resale markets, but generally, people paid too much for the decent used projectors and think they deserve half or more of what they paid. There are deals, but beware and do your research.
I just bought an optoma gt1080 for $620 on Amazon. it's 2800 lumens and 1080 native but short throw and that may not be what you're looking for.
For $700, you should have tons of hd options, with lumens that will blow that old boy outta the water. And if you're not in a hurry, the halloween and thanksgiving sales should bring some huge bargains.
Good luck!
shoot, you already ordered the screen. i would have suggested getting a sample of materials from carls place, on amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XAL65NW/ref=s9_acsd_hps_bw_c_x_4_r
they give you pieces of different screen types so you can see which one works best in your setup. since you'll have some good light during the day, and no light at night, it might be difficult to get one that's good all day. your best bet might be to get one that's good during the day, as that's when you'll have the most natural interference.
No worries, I started out the same way. I'm really only knowledgeable about them because I read things here in this subreddit, over in /r/hometheater and over at projector central. I've only ever owned my LG PH300 and a cheap $100 projector from amazon that I returned after a week. :)
Feel free to ask questions.
I bought the projector linked below for $85 in an Amazon Warehouse deal about 6 months ago and I love it. This one seems similar in spec, I’m currently using it at 125” and it looks great to me. It had a bit of a loud fan that’s noticeable in quiet scenes and lacks any fancy features, but the picture it beautiful and that’s all I need it for.

Honestly any Amazon cheap ass speaker is gonna sound way better than projector speaker audio, even "cheap" speakers will sound way better. Look at these Logitech Speaker System Z323 with Subwoofer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002FU5QM0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_U8FVBb9D3FSS0
It's 45 bucks, stereo speaker and a sub, you can plug an auxiliary cord in to play music or a Chromecast audio and boom. This was just a quick Amazon search and I'm sure there's better options for powered speakers as these really are made for a computer but just showing g you that you really can get a cheap setup and it won't destroy your bulb life when you just want to listen
To answer your question no there is no way to get just audio out of the projector, best bet is to just throw something on the screen to enjoy, but honestly just splurge for a cheap powered stereo setup.
At that price it's kinda tough. Something like this is probably going to be the ticket if you want a projector on the cheap that's acceptable.
Now there's lots of one's that are similar, so the mains points:
Always look for the word "native" when searching. "Native 720p" "native 1080p". As they try to trick you and say "supports - " and what that really means is that its trash.
If you're looking on Amazon, search the reviews for "lag" if you want to game, and check for people who say "didn't notice lag while playing games". As there can be a delay between when you push a button and when the projector actually shows it, making gaming really rough sometimes.
All projectors will have some lag, unless they're specifically "low latency" but they're going to be a fair bit more expensive.
For under 150 bucks however, search for "native 720p" and just browse them, find reviews. Search for "best budget 720p projectors" sort of comparisons that review sites do too.
Beyond that I don't have any advice on specific models, someone who's actually bought one in that range can probably give more advice on certain models.
My old projector had 3D and I used it once and never used it again. It just felt ridiculous to be putting on these glasses at my house. Plus 3D isn't really all that great...

For a projector at that price range, you'll be able to get a decent 1080p projector. Check out the brand viewsonic they have a 1080p projector for $400.

Since the projectors I have looked into do not have a built in TV tuner I am imaging you would need at least this device to go from what is there and connect hdmi to the projector.
shirt sorry I mean to clarify: earlier today when it was $400 https://slickdeals.net/f/11831863-viewsonic-pro7827hd-1080p-dlp-home-theater-projector-w-vertical-lens-shift-399-99-free-shipping-via-amazon?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarAlgo1
You should get the view sonic. Its a steal at this price Edit: when it was at this price range https://slickdeals.net/f/11831863-viewsonic-pro7827hd-1080p-dlp-home-theater-projector-w-vertical-lens-shift-399-99-free-shipping-via-amazon?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarAlgo1

From what I'm gathering, it's more of a conference room option vs. home theater, but still good for a budget buy, slightly washed out colors aside.
Here is CNET's quick rundown explaining the basic differences between DLP, 3LCD, and LCoS.
Here is Projector Central's comparison of the 2 Acers and the Optoma HD141X. The main differences we're seeing between the 3 are:
The Optoma has a higher contrast ratio meaning more detail and blacker blacks (great for gaming and movies)
The Optoma has a 10W speaker. Not necessary if you plan to use external speakers
The Optoma has MHL, which allows you to wirelessly transmit content from your tablet or smartphone
The Optoma has 1000 more hours of lamp life
Both Acer's have RS232 ports
What distance do you plan to mount the projector from the screen? What screen size would you like to achieve?
edit: formatting
Thank you for giving me a direction to look in and advice on 8350.
May I trouble you for price check? There is a BenQ W1070 with 100" screen for $400 near me. Seller claims 15hrs on the bulb. Alternately BenQ HT2050 for $500.
I was also looking into buying this as a first projector. A word for OP, if you're not pressed for time then you should wait to buy. There's a website that lets you track prices on Amazon to let you see the deal you're getting. If you were planning on buying from amazon then it looks like the best time to buy is January.
This is what you want. A real, name brand projector, actual reasonable 4K, 3200 lumens will knock your socks off in a dimmed room at 80-120 inches.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L9SM2DK/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_imm_XK71MGRW2VSC3TK89Z3F
240 hz too so get ready to poop pants. I guess PS5 doesn't really benefit from 240hz...but pc gaming would be wild on that. Sounds like PS5 does 120hz though so you might still have your socks knocked off.
Ahhh can't help you much on the shipping issue, but am happy to recommend models. I am just going to use links as a reference point for you.
If you can bump up to $500/$600 (which I realize is good hike)
I'd go for an XGMI projector. The Mogo Pro I think hits everything you would want too
https://www.xgimi.com/us/mogo-pro
If you can sacrifice 1080p for $100ish less dollars the Anker Nebula Capsule is also a decent option
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q2P5PH7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_dl_J1SSTY7BS8XRQG9PG2CH
This is not a projector but could be an elegant and inexpensive solution to your problem.
I have a similar situation as you. I bought the Optoma CinemaX Pro. I would one day like to get this screen.
OK I’m going to give you a recommendation however I had to modify the mount to get it in working order… First off in theory the projector mount I’m about to recommend is very robust and stable…I had a hu80ka projector that was front heavy and would droop this projector mount fix the problem. The drawback on this projector mount is that the screws/bolts that came with it are proprietary and take a special tool that comes with the projector mount to tighten them. The problem with this other than if you lose the tool you’re screwed is the screws/bolts are extremely cheap and strip really easily. What I did was purchase the used version of this projector mount for $40 which you can find if you scroll down where it says other buying options and then I went to the hardware store and purchased a full set of Phillips head screws for the projector mount. The projector mount is now rocksolid and I don’t need a proprietary tool. Anyway just thought I’d throw this in there in the off chance you want to go to that much trouble. One other thing I did to the projector mount is I got a shorter pipe nipple coupler(the pipe shaft the mount is attached to that hangs off the ceiling) but if you go to a hardware store you can get as long or short a one as you’d like.
Use something like this. Probably not this exact one for a PS5, but a different one that supports 120hz and 4k.
that kind of mount with that distance and hang is going to have a lot of exerted force on the wall, so I'd skip that. I think your best bet is to make a shelf using L brackets on either side of the wood window frame. shelf will offer better load capacity and exert less force on the wall, and the projector can be hung with a ceiling mount or just set on the shelf.
Otherwise, it seems like you're looking for something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YZ7N7WM/
I got this one recently and have had it a couple days and like it. There's a slight effect to the image that looks a bit like a watercolor filter, but it's very subtle. Maybe something to do with how they process the video to pass through to the pixel lenses. The image is bright and good quality, it just has a different "feel" than if you are used to a computer monitor. I've noticed this with some TVs as well. Otherwise very happy with it. Much brighter and better image quality than the previous projector I had. The lense has a wide range for focus adjustment. I've been using it at a distance of about 15 feet and have to crank the focus a long ways. I can tell it could focus on something much further. I can easily focus it until individual pixels are crystal clear, which is always reassuring that it is a true native 1080p projecter.

There are a lot of different screens from this brand, but I hear good things about them and the price is decent for what you get. They have acoustically transparent if you are putting speakers behind it as well as other types which vary depending on how the projector is being used. I have an acoustically transparent one coming, but I don’t have it yet. I’ve been using a cheaper elite screen I picked up on eBay, but overall, they seem a bit overpriced comparatively.
Try using a better quality hdmi cable with a higher rating. Or the hdmi is too far to carry the signal. Try a booster/repeater: StarTech.com 115 ft. Refurbed is definitely a good option too, especially from Epson. The price difference is significant vs the new one I posted above.
That is a nice idea you've got brewing.
A battery projector for that price simply does not exist however I'm afraid. You need to go to about 300 to get something that's half decent (or even quarter decent).
There's ones under £100, but Im also really opposed to recommending anything that cheap as usually it is so far beneath expectations the person wonders how it's even allowed to be sold... Yes, they're that disappointing.
If you're set on a movie experience and it must be battery, maybe I'd suggest a tablet, laptop (borrow one?), Or simply watching on a phone with it on a stand.
(There's also portable dvd players that take usb as an idea if you're really set on a bigger screen and they're pretty cheap).
Believe me, I'm a man of effort myself, I love going big, and I know what it's like once you've got that idea in your head... BUT she'll love the fact you've gone to all the effort and made a romantic little movie hideaway WAY MORE than anything to do about the movie itself.
Just get her favorite snacks and drinks, set the mood, maybe some of those tiny battery fairly wire-lights. They're always received well.
There's also hilariously a popcorn air freshener smell so you can make it smell like the movies if you want to add something extra... Or just make popcorn I guess?
I picked up this one from Amazon
I've been happy with it. Super easy to set up and take down. Fits into a bag for storage.
I use my camera tripod with this adapter. Note that the adapter here is 3rd party and that price isn't good, so shop around for a similar solution at a good price.
In this case you don't necessarily care as much about height as your goal should be to get the projector as close to the height of the bottom of your screen so you can avoid keystone adjustments.
The tripod helps with getting your coverage over the entire screen so you don't have a weird white corner with no picture. In theory you can get away with a crate/box or something - but micro adjustments will be more difficult this way.
I have the epson 3800 and it's been a great projector - I upgraded from the benq w1070 and its a much larger projector. So far the noise has been much quieter than the benq and I run it in high elevation mode. I almost extensively game on it (PS5, XboxSeriesX) with a little bit of watching movies and it seems to have a pretty great picture and I don't notice any lag.
I will say the only thing I noticed on the epson is that the image clarity seems to be less in focus towards the bottom of the screen than the top but its not very noticeable until you bring up test screens, like the image positioning squares. This seems to be a common issue with this particular projector. Again though not noticeable when actually in use.
A lot of talk tends to focus around the differences between 3LCD and DLP - most people pick 3LCD because of issues with 'rainbow effect' but I personally never had that coming from the benq dlp I had before.
One caveat to look out for in 4k content with HDR - you'll need a high speed HDMI that will likely be more expensive than what you use for 1080p or even plain 4k. I had hit/miss with several before I settled on this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZK94P1J/ and I had to return it and get a new one since it failed after a month of use (new one seems to be ok still)
I got this screen, 120 inch, grey fabric, and I am pretty happy with the screen.
The hardware is kind of cheap though. I had to spend $10 already on a parts kit sold by the seller to replace some of the rod end clips that broke in the first year.
I have it hung using some command adhesive hooks.
Overall though, for a $50 total investment I'm pretty happy with it. The grey material sacrifices some brightness but improves the percieved black levels. The screen material is smooth enough that 4k content at 120 inches looks great (no pebble effect).
As always, buyer beware with Chinese product listings. There is no assurance that the product they are selling today has any relation to the product I bought almost 2 years ago, despite the same listing and seller. Be willing to send it back if it sucks.
I have a McLean 516 s that can move about a foot forward or back that I use on my Optoma 142x . I don't move it but it should be stable.
I've never seen projectors really with the daisy chaining ability you are talking about.
It's certainly very rare.
An HDMI splitter will simply split 1 source into 2 outputs so you can connect it to 2 projectors to show the same image easily.
Make sure both projectors can handle the same HDMI signal format.

>BenQ TH585
This looks like something that would be awesome! I just checked it out on Amazon and it looks like a great buy. I also saw this
Seems like the contrast ratio is better? I don't care too much about input lag as I won't really be gaming on it, but I still care to the point an actor's mouth moving should sync up with the audio. What do you think?
It’s $799: BenQ HT2150ST 1080P Short Throw Projector | 2200 Lumens | 96% Rec.709 for Accurate Colors | Low Input Lag Ideal for Gaming | Stream Netflix & Prime Video,White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K2V0WP4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_hylcGb2BZFVEC
I mean that one looks good and really close to mine which Im happy with.
But now you gotta decide where to put it how big of a screen ect.
Also for full disclosure if your just looking to game on it I might still suggest a TV. Projectors make a big image but 16ms refresh time is a bit longer than a monitor/tv so it takes some getting adjusted to but my biggest complaint is the dark levels for some games on the projector its REALLY hard to see in the dark and I have very low to no ambient light.
This projector is great. Awesome bright picture. Used it say least 1-3 times per week and never had a complaint. The vertical shift comes in very handy when you have to set it up fresh each time. If there is one on refurb, it's a no brainier.
If you get the same projector i have, you don't need the hdmi audio extractor. It has an audio out on the projector that works great. It will only connect to one speaker though. If you use a headphone splitter, you can get the same sound coming out of each speaker. That means each speaker will play both the left and right channel from the projector. If you use a "DJ splitter", you can get the left channel to the left speaker and the right channel to the right speaker. Here's one i bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E411NG6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_64ccGbTPVAVR1
Internal speaker on my projector is not nearly good enough to use outside. Enjoy your set up. I have no regrets.

I have two, they are great!
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07XRJZXKY
The one I use was $110 canadian (~85USD) on sale and includes a 60w PD high speed charger.
Use camelcamelcamel to monitor the price.
I can test again, but I think i got 3 hours on it? (including power routed to firestick)

You can actually power the M2 off of USBC (PD) power so you don't need the big 19volt brick (especially good if travelling. and if you get a GaN charger, they're tiny now).

And if you're using a firestick, you can pull power from the dedicated/hidden USB port on the bottom of the device (the one usually reserved for wifi dongle) so that you leave the main USB port free for power/data.
There's also a microusb on the bottom that I haven't tested -- it could be for OTG/data access? There's a possibility you could use it for ethernet.
No! It will suck no matter what!
Okay, not really, I'm just salty because they're still screwing around with my ship date. It all comes down to placement. How far from the ceiling do you need it to hang? How is this oriented with your studs?
Here are two I've used in the past and present:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00COF74G2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_n.O8FbBC1Q2RS?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I'm currently using the first, but used the second for years. I picked up the first one recently in hopes that I'd be able to keep a ceiling mount going for the 5050UB when it gets here. (Turns out I was wrong, I'll be just short of the right distance to do 120".) Both work well. The second link I found to be more flexible, but Epson's a bit less foolish than BenQ for screw placement, so I think either will work great for you depending on the height needs.
Depends. Is it a standard 5.5x2.1 plug at the end? If so, something like this
I would want to know the current draw before I committed to buying it. You can always make one with thicker gauge wire.
You could try something like this

I would probably still look around for a more reliable brand. If this is for a job, maybe try contacting an AV vendor to see what they have. Used a few angled ceiling mounts for some jobs, but mainly for displays, not projectors.
I have a $50 amazon projector and a $1500 Benq ht3550 4k projector.
The differences are absolutely night and day. The $50 is worthless for just about everything. The resolution is terrible, it is horribly dim, the center can be focused but the other 80% of the image is a blurry mess. I would never want to watch anything on it. I bought it on sale for $25 so I could put up static images to paint things on my kids walls.
The benq on the other hand is stunning. I'm a movie junkie. All the theaters bring shut down is no problem since I have just as good of an experience at home.
Obviously there is a lot of room between $50 and $1500.
I really should take side by side pictures of the two images. If you're interested in that let me know.
I got mine off Amazon here however I got it cheaper as Amazon did some more discount on it. Keep an eye out, the price changes alot.
TV tray - I'm guessing this is about a 40cm wide stand that is right next to the wall? Do you have a coffee table? The GT1080 projects close to a 3m picture from about 1m away from the wall. You could set it out on a coffee table when you want to do some big screen action. If you would like to mount it from the wall, you can do that too. You get something like this and you mount it to the wall stud and don't have to worry about the ceiling. There are quite a few on Amazon under this price point.
I have you covered /u/McNizzel
A bunch of them on Amazon for various prices from about $100. I very much agree with McNizzel that they are the way to go. I use them at work all the time and they make life way easier. I have on in my setup at home as well.
I own the LG PH300 and love my projector as well. I use a Chromecast instead of an HDMI cable, works basically the same way and is wireless to my Windows 7 PC, Chromebook, Girlfriend's Phone. We watch movies/tv shows on Netflix, Youtube and through 'other' sources.
The Chromecast does need an outlet though btw, it'll plug into the back of your projector but still has a wired plug that needs to go somewhere. Just thought I would let you know because in the pictures they just show the circular chromecast itself but not the HDMI part or the 'you need to plug it in' part. :)
I've never had any problems with my Chromecast. It works just like they say it should. Just go to the page with the media and click the top right 'cast button' and click 'Cast to MKleister's Chromecast' and you'll see the image change and it should be on the wall in under 2 seconds.
The Amazon Fire Stick and other sticks would probably work in the projector too but I've never really used them because the internet and my chromecast has been all I need. :)
You might also enjoy Plex. I've never used it before but I've been reading into it and I might try messing around with it pretty soon.
Yeah. Epson 3020 gives you can give you a minimum 120" at 19'. https://imgur.com/gallery/YgLAZ
Edit: I got mine for $679. It's $650 at Amazon now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GBJRWL4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_DpTAzb59SK4JD
Okay, a wall is fine. You're not going for hyper clarity or amazingly dark blacks. A screen will only make it better but you can def suffice without one.
I have an epson 2030 that I bought refurbished from Amazon for <$500. That with a simple sound bar and subwoofer make up my every day use projector. I wouldn't shrink too far below that price range as anything less than that is likely old or too bad to be able to use. I'd also recommend an LED one as bulbs last waaaaaaay longer.
It sounds like you may be underestimating how bad cheap projectors can be. I'd highly suggest a trip to a home theater store or even a Best Buy. See if they can give you a tutorial or a demonstration of the selection of projectors they have there (some stores will have them set up so you can experience it in real life)
I have a projector mount I got off Amazon, ceiling mounted. My audio situation is still a bit hanky. I have an HDMI switch that I use, and honestly I have an optical cable that runs from my most used output (my PS4 Pro) to my sound bar. My sound bar also has Bluetooth so when I switch to my computer I just connect to that. Unfortunately I haven't quite figured out an all in one audio solution with the projector. I know long optical cables are an option, to do just audio from the projector to the sound bar, I just haven't gone that route yet.
Edit: this is the projector mount I bought. Cheap and works very well! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01014CD0O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_CADhAb2DM2GN7
Keep in mind that you may also need some money for a projector stand and possibly longer HDMI / Audio cables (to go to/from your Blu Ray player, speakers, and the projector).
I think your best bet is going to be the native 720p projectors (1280 x 800) Chinese "white box" projectors. There seems to be 3 manufacturers that have them sold under various names. There's the GP 100, the CL 760, and another one I've forgotten about. (Uh...when are these guys going to make some native 1080p projectors? Sooner rather than later, I hope.)
I picked up a CL 760 for about $91 shipped some time ago (with the assistance of a 5% cash back for Amazon charges deal from a credit card) and I've been pretty happy with it but it has its shortcomings. I would characterize it as a low light projector; it does best in a dark room and in the day time you would need to close all window shades. I project an image about 130 inches diagonal across onto my living room wall (just a plain light cream painted wall with an "orange peel" finish) and I feel that I can notice the 720p resolution. It's fine for my purposes, but it would be nice if the resolution and sharpness were higher, but I cannot possibly complain for the $91 shipped that I paid.
Hey I was in the exact same situation about 2 months ago!
I replaced my Benq W1070 bulb with this one from amazon
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J5FNC78/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's $83 with 180day warranty.
I was very tempted to do a 4k upgrade as well.. but it seems like you really need to get almost to $2k range to get good picture and faux 4k.. there are cheaper ones in teh lower $1000's, but I don't know they just didn't seem to be even as good as the w1070 in some ways aside from the 4k aspect.
Personally I would say if you really don't care that much about the 4k yet.. do a cheap sub-$100 lamp with a basic warranty.
I recently updated to one of these. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XJITK7E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00 As I too use a vintage yamaha amp for the bedroom. I have my xbox one plugged into it and the audio goes right to the amp and then I have a 30ft HDMI wire going to the PJ.
I got the TK850 a few months ago and have been blown away impressed colors are vibrant and really pops. 4K HDR content is AMAZING on it. I chose it after hours of research, it has incredible versatility because of the high lumens. I mostly use it to watch sports and movies, I have gamed on it and it handled that great too. I paired it with a 120 inch silver ticket screen.
STR-169120 Silver Ticket 120" Diagonal 16:9 4K Ultra HD Ready HDTV (6 Piece Fixed Frame) Projector Screen White Material https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CYLOTPK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_20KEFbTKN4XZZ
If I was trying to do the same thing, I’d use a headphone amp like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003M8NVFS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.KbAFbJKSHW6A
Everyone plugs in some headphones into the amp and the amp into the projectors audio out. You’re essentially using it as a splitter.
Not without splitting it out of the HDMI signal. Something like this is your real only option that I am aware of. https://smile.amazon.com/avedio-links-Extractor-Splitter-Converter/dp/B07H94D77V/ref=sr_1_3
I am going to make a suggestion for you. If you're playing a lot of FPS, go with a 1080p projector like this. It has one of the lowest response times and it is high refresh rate. Current 4k projectors are much slower and won't be as good for FPS games. I'd say if you're stuck on 4k, go with this one. Just my two cents.
That is a bad DMD. The only way to fix this is to put a new DMD in. The part # is 1076-6329W and they sell for $100-150
as an example. https://www.amazon.com/1076-6318W-1076-6319W-1076-6328W-1076-6329W-1076-6338W/dp/B00FSFHLVI
there is one on amazon, but why not get aux Bluetooth receiver for sound bar and pair that to source like ps5 as Bluetooth audio!!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073WW3SLG/A1C41W6V7R1EVA&psc=1
Assuming you mean the Smart Projector by SinoMetics. That is a no-name brand and the market is flooded with them. They can't be compared to real projectors by Epson, Sony, Optoma, LG, BenQ and Panasonic.
They completely fabricate their numbers and pay for 5-star amazon reviews. They basically take a lightbulb, a couple mirrors, a lens and an lcd panel, throw it in a plastic box and call it a projector. You can compare the brightness from a "6,500 Lux" no-name to BenQ and see the cheap ones are about a tenth as bright. Not to mention the better features and lenses of brand names.
I'm a big fan of discount brand products, but projectors are an industry where the quality drop off is so severe it is almost criminal. And you probably won't find a good projector with a good "smart TV" integration. You'll want an nvidia shield or something similar .
Yeah, if you can return that then you should. The only thing I can find is this on amazon. Looks like someone just took some random pictures and made a listing for it, the website on the box doesn't even work for me.
I'm not sure how much you paid for it, but you can find something much better. Sorry to share the bad news with you. :\
If you can spend a bit more, I would suggest the Optoma HD28HDR. Its asking price is $649 US but you get a lot more for the extra bit. If you are using it for a computer, I'd highly suggest it because it's probably the cheapest projector that supports 120Hz with 8ms of lag, which is about as good as you can get in any projector. 120Hz makes a big difference if you've never used it before, but if you just have consoles, then I wouldn't worry about it too much.
If you're worried about the rainbow effects, keep in mind it's VERY dependent on the person. Most people don't even notice it so I'd say take a chance, unless you are 100% sure it bothers you a lot. If you buy it from Amazon, it's such an easy return process anyway so I say just test it, and if it's bad, return it. Hope this helps!

For outside, you're going to need a projector that has a high amount of ANSI Lumens (brightness). For brightness, you'll be sacrificing some color accuracy.
Because your budget is low, I think you'll have to go used/refurbished which isn't a bad thing because you can save some money. You'll also probably have to go 720p though.
All the cheap projectors you see on amazon will not work outside because their lumens will be so low (they lie, only look at the specifications). You want something from Epson, Optoma, BenQ, Viewsonic, InFocus, etc.
Any ideas on your setup for outside? :) Primarily during the day time or more towards when it starts getting darker?
The cheapest thing I can think of is this Epson Home Cinema 760HD. If you like Amazon then it's $329.
I have a similar brightness projector, and I got pretty good results from a cheap screen on amazon:
Portable Projector Screen 120 inch Foldable Silver Black Backing Projection Screen with 4 Sides Pole Support https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RHRVWGM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_qTzXEb1AYYFSD
It was only $40 when I got it, you might want to wait for a sale.
It sounds like you are not wanting to spend a lot, or I wouldn't suggest this. It is obviously not going to be as good as something like a Silver Ticket G-silver screen and frame, but it isn't $450 either.
I see no downside to the manual except the fact that A. You have to get up and pull it down and put away each use, and B. Doing so will put wear and tear on however you mount it... but as for screen quality both would be same so it really just comes down to cost when deciding between motorized or manual pull down.
That being said, if you want a perfectly flat screen, you will need to shell out a bit more money to get what is called “tab tension” roll down screen. This keeps the screen taught so it doesn’t get wavy. One thing you will notice about the non-tab-tensioned roll down screens is the bigger you go, the more it kind of ripples and gets wavy towards the bottom.
This is when you want to consider between roll down or fixed. A fixed screen will be, virtually, perfectly flat. If you have the space for a dedicated fixed screen AND own your home, personally that’s the route I would go. But for me, I have had too many living spaces where I had no wall big enough (still renting), so I’d hang my roll down screen over windows that way when the screen rolls down it also darkens the room.
For what it’s worth, I do NOT have a tab tensioned screen. The wavy ness isnt so bad, but you will notice it when there are straight lines panning across the screen such as a tall building. What screen you choose will depend on your needs for the space you’re installing.
In conclusion, I recommend a regular motorized screen (120 inches for $100 on amazon) if it’s in your budget... it’s most versatile across different installations if you don’t own your home and may possibly move.
Edit: upon searching amazon, i learned that the screen I bought has gone up in price, it is now $129... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J22TM7Y/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_98LJEbNB1EXT8
Yes by using a usb plug adapter, you can also look at this for being able to regulate the fan speed too NOYITO 5V USB Fan Stepless Speed Controller Regulator with Switch Speed Module DC 4-12V to 2.5-8V 5W
More like 85" (at half height, more or less, to get 16:9)
https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B01M65QQCW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but a good deal, nevertheless...
You`ll need at least this BR Disc.
If you buy it used make sure that the RGB Color Plasticfilm comes with it.
I ordered it off Amazon, the Epson store didn't have one available. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0857B1DGC/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Interesting enough amazon gives me a 4 month return window. I wouldn't mind sending it back and waiting for another to pop up through Epson. But also rolling the dice again if i'll get something worse or one that does impact the picture.
Try a bare white wall first. If you’re not satisfied goes with a projector screen afterwards. If have the room. Throw a 120” screen in there. Like this one for example. Elite Screens Manual Series, 120-INCH 16:9, Pull Down Manual Projector Screen with AUTO LOCK
Thanks! I bought these but don’t seem to work. Might be a battery issue.
I’m also looking at these. So you happen to know them? Docooler GL1800 Proyector Gafas... https://www.amazon.es/dp/B07G3XRZC4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

The form factor seems similar but different brands.
You could look at the Sony UBP- X700M at $150 US on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Sony-Theater-Streaming-Blu-ray-Player/dp/B08ZFYVS9T
I have the older 700 version, it works fine and supports 3D. I will say the Dolby Vision setting doesn't seem to work automatically as it as only an auto and on option. It will map everything into DV mode when on regardless of content. Not a huge deal to switch it off as needed. X700M is a decent option.
The elite screens pop-up is about 8 inches too long, but it's also a huge pain to put back in the case.
https://www.amazon.com/Elite-Screens-Portable-Projector-Standing/dp/B00NG0RWQG
sure, I purchased these ones. They go up to 200hz refresh:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016YTF636/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They appear to come from Germany
Not a direct answer to your question, but if you want to see the difference between the wall and a screen, you can get a cloth screen on sale for $15 https://slickdeals.net/f/11947811-120-excelvan-16-9-collapsible-portable-projector-cloth-screen-15-more
The W1800 has more Light for a 120" grey Screen.
You can also choose the Viewsonic PX728-4K which has the highest (measured!) Lightoutput with optimized Settings between the 3 Lamp based Projectors. It fits also your Room!
The optimal Picture Quality you can only achieve with each Projector if you buy (at least) a Calibration Blu-Ray Disc with a Colorfilter.
If you buy it used (check also Ebay) make sure that the RGB Color Plasticfilm is included!
https://www.amazon.de/Digital-Video-Essentials-DVE-Farbfilter/dp/B000V6LST0
I feel like this use case would be better served by a portable monitor (something like this).
Most projectors won't focus properly at that close of a distance, even if they did the image isn't going to be much bigger than that of a portable monitor, and unless the room is dark, any information on the screen will certainly be less readable than if it were being viewed on a portable monitor.
i understand. my previous projector for movies was this pocket Optoma, and the kids love it. we are not looking for $4000 quality for $300. just looking for best bang for the buck.
This is the bulb I got off Amazon. Probably too cheap, if you have a suggestion on a better one I might give it a try if I don't jump for the 4K. Not sure I can afford qulaity 4k in my $1000-3000 budget. Thanks!
Maybe something like this thing, secured with screws to the wall..? Screws can be removed after the move, plastered etc and are considered acceptable to do in a rental here in NSW.. blackout velvet for camera studio
Would something like this work? 3in black velvet tape
You would of course have this stick to the projector screen edges as this would probably damage the walls
so, how would most people set this one up for example?

UST seem nice, but I'm not sure I have more than 1' of table top space to fit one up there, do most just move their display away from the wall?
