Whether you like or dislike ad blockers, their solution requires you to trust them with your traffic an awful lot. That's a decision I'm not ready to make right for a new company like Brave right now. How do I know they won't be bought off by the worst advertisers, like many ad blocking browser plugins have done and I could find myself in the same ad situation as I was before, except somebody else is getting an income in the process.

EDIT: I don't use any trackers because the technology is less-than-perfect and interferes with developing new websites (sometimes trackers think my plugins or CSS, or images are malicious if they aren't hosted on the same site, 'breaking' things I'm working on) but the only tracker I have used that I trust and can recommend is the Privacy Badger, from the EFF. If there comes a day when the EFF is corrupted then we're all screwed more than just online ad trackers. Unlike other plugins, the Privacy Badger doesn't come with a 'block list', instead it observes how servers and scripts track you and if it notices certain servers or scripts doing bad stuff it blocks those for you. That means the more you use it, the more complete your own personal shield becomes. I worked in a hostile work environment for 8 years the only reason I stayed in that job was to support my family, the benefits were too good to pass up. During the worst times there I would go home and smoke weed to help me relax after dealing with bullshit all day. Once I was high I could let it all go and be normal and fun around my family. I wouldn't recommend this solution to everyone, hell it's not a long term strategy. But it worked for the time. Now I don't get high anymore and deal with my stress in other ways like through meditation and controlled breath exercises. I also see a therapist once a week to help me work on my anxiety. There's some other things that helped me as well such as books.
