I use a program called copytrans for the iphone, it completely circumvents itunes and uses drag-and-drop to put songs on the iphone. I recommend it for anyone who's tired of iTunes like I was.
If you have iTunes already installed, use http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php . It uses some of the iTunes drivers, is simple, drag and drop and won't erase your shit. Plus, it's free! Enjoy.
There's actually a free program that will do this very easily, and without screwing with library authorization or anything. I have it on my home PC and can't think of the name of it, i'll find out what it is and PM you later if you like
EDIT TattedUp nailed it. CopyTrans Manager is the way to go. I've used it on several iPods/iPhones and it works amazingly well!
You need to install it to set it up if it's new. After that I used this for two iPod Touches. It's lighter on system resources, and the part of the suite for transferring music to the device is free.
I don't know what the program is called but it's what I use. I'll update when I get on a computer to find out.
Edit: Remembered the name and googled it just to make sure. It's called CopyTrans and it's free. Have been using it since day 1 of the iPad 3 and no problems. http://www.copytrans.net/
Remember this?
Yeah... next time, read before clicking. :(
Quit iTunes, delete the new blank library on the new machine, move your old iTunes library (the whole folder) to your new machine, then launch iTunes. You'll likely get the Erase and Sync warning again; this time, that's what you actually want.
This. One of the selling points of CopyTrans Manager in its description is that it allows you to sync with as many libraries as you'd like. And it's free.
My main machine died on me a few days ago, so I used CopyTrans Manager to get new music to the device.
Its pretty easy, just can take a few seconds to find your device
I use CopyTrans' softwares. Works well for music, apps, etc, and it's free. > http://www.copytrans.net/
Edit : to be precise, CopyTrans Manager is perfect for what you want to do. :) > http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
I use Copytrans.
Install the Copytrans Control Centre and install "Copytrans Manager" from the control centre.
You will need iTunes to be installed on your machine for copytrans to work. Let me know if that works or if you need any help.
Then don't use it! Now I know what people are going to say "but if not iTunes what can I use to sync my Apple device to my music?" CopyTrans Manager
It's 100% free, doesn't require QuickTime, doesn't come with Apple Software Update, and doesn't install 5 different services on your PC that you don't need. It's quick and easy to use.
Now there is other pieces to CopyTrans besides the music copy portion that do cost money but you don't have to install them if you don't want to.
I was an iTunes user at home and at work for 5+ years. But after I got this I have been iTunes free for over 6 months and couldn't be happier.
okay since you can't find the exact version you'll just need to find what the general version is. if on the lockscreen it says slide to unlock instead of press to unlock it is ios 9 or below. also look at the control center and this image: http://www.copytrans.net/admin/wp/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2014/09/ios-8-control-center.png and see what it is similar to. and if you don't have a control center and it's the skumorphic design then it's ios 6
No problemo man.
Do you have an mp3 file or is a song off Youtube? (don't worry about size limit/duration limit, I got a full 3 minute song as ringtone)
Is it's off Youtube, just use http://clipconverter.cc and set it to m4a.
Is it's a local mp3 file, use http://audio.online-convert.com/convert-to-m4a
After that's done, rename the file extension to .m4r and download this http://www.copytrans.net/ , if I recall correctly it's the CopyTrans Manager application.
When you get that running, just drag/drop the m4r file to the program and click on the Sync button if I'm not mistaken.
Hope it works, cheers!
(If you need anything, just reply here or PM me!)
It is possible using Copytrans for example, but I wouldn't recommend it. iTunes works better as far as I experienced, you just have to initially arrange everything. Afterwards it works like a charm.
Just try it yourself. Perhaps Copytrans is the better choice for you.
I second i-FunBox, but another one that I've used with really good success is CopyTrans Manager. It's fast, free and portable (if you download the .zip version) and has worked when the others have failed for whatever reason. If it throws up an error about drivers, you can get them from here.
You can use CopyTrans ( http://www.copytrans.net/copytranscontacts.php#transfer-calendar ) or something like iPhone Backup Extractor to do this via your computer, I believe. I don't know of any way to export it directly FROM the phone, though.
ETA: you can export calendar from iCloud site as .ics without above software. Instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4910
Just use CopyTrans Manager. It's free and you can load anything into your iOS device including all forms of media, books, and even apps. Does not require iTunes to even be installed.
It's just a single .exe even.
http://download.cnet.com/CopyTrans-Manager/3000-18546_4-10842241.html?part=dl-&subj=dl&tag=button
Here are the drivers if you don't want iTunes installed at all.
http://www.copytrans.net/support/install-iphone-ipod-touch-and-ipad-drivers-without-installing-itunes/
Yeah, just use another program to transfer files to the iOS device like CopyTrans Manager.
http://www.copytrans.net/download-zip.php?program=CTM
What you are really supposed to do though is import your iTunes library from your other PC. It's in Documents/Music/iTunes and it a .itl file. So if you can a hold of that file from your other PC, then open iTunes on this new PC while holding Shift and it will ask to open a .itl file.
When I upgraded from my 8GB 3G to my 32GB 3GS having over 5,000 songs to manage was too frustrating on iTunes. I started with the free version of CopyTrans and ended up springing for the $10 full version. Here are some free options. And a few more.
I've successfully used a program (Windows) called CopyTrans to restore all songs and playlists from my iPod to my laptop. I'm not affiliated with them or that product, but it saved my ass when I was in your same position. Really liked that it restored all my playlists, too.
I'm not really an apple guy by any means, but I've heard people talking about this application being able to access files on a wide range of apple Ipod/i pad products. http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
Maybe something like this could help you get your collection off.
iPhone 4? 16 or 32? iOS version?
My 16GB 4 got really slow when it was close to full. Probably wasn't an hour slow but like you I started to not bother syncing because it was such a PITA. I cleared out a bit of disk space which seemed to really help.
Your other option would be to use a different piece of software than iTunes. That way, you skip having to wait for the back up to complete before the songs go on. I've never used the software out there but a quick google, suggests copytrans (http://www.copytrans.net/download.php) is free and effective. Not sure if anyone else has any personal testimonies.
You might try something like CopyTrans
Though it's geared more towards just backing up iPhone/iPod data. And the trial version is a little limited. But - it's lightweight. Ridiculously easy to use. And it saved one of my clients from losing a bunch of voice files and whatnot during an upgrade.. so there's that.
Sadly, that was the best/least scammy program I found.
Sharepod (free) will let you drag and drop; http://www.copytrans.net/download.php and others also do all sorts of useful stuff. Let this be a lesson: don't buy an ipod unless you want to be locked in to itunes.
As for organising.. there are heaps of apps out there that will scan your library, apply tags where appropriate, and organise your file system. Maybe picard will do the job?
you can't with itunes but there is software for it.
i use CopyTrans Control Center, you can drag & drop any file. its great.
itunes has been dogshit for a decade already you shouldn't use it anyway
When you switch, there are many third party apps to convert all your data to be able to read from an android. Like contacts, music, calender, etc.
Best product ive seen is copytrans. http://www.copytrans.net/
Its also great software thats better than itunes and less laggy and resource hogging.
Give this a shot. I know it says Windows 10 but I had a simular thing happen recently.
If that does not work do a full uninstall of iTunes and remove everything associated with iTunes and do a reinstall of iTunes.
> Unfortunately, syncing through iTunes is the only way to get music into your phone's music library, unless you buy the songs from the iTunes store.
This is not true, there are plenty of great alternatives.
Give CopyTransManager a try, its free and works great to load any sorts of media onto an iOS device. don't even need iTunes installed.
You have a few options, my problem was my hardrive on my computer failed so i lost all saved music. But it was all on my phone, which iTunes wont allow you transfer back in. So i used a software tool called copytrans which can backup music, contacts, messages, notes and bookmarks. The thing you have to take into account and i searched everywhere is every program will cost you money. Some have a free trial for like a 1000 songs but i had 20 times that. Im sure theres more programs that are slightly less money or do more but this one worked well for me. Took about 2 hours to transfer 5 thousand songs. One last thing it only works on pc, to my savior i had a pc i can use.
Search for the software CopyTrans. It repacks and creates a folder with fully functional (once installed) ipa's of all your apps (all means, whether you purchased or free**) hehe. Even if you create back up via iTunes, nothing's wrong. I do both, as my own backup of a backup lol. iTunes restored the older versions I had in my iphone earlier, unless you updated them via iTunes. Make sure there is no automatic updates enabled in iTunes (not sure if there is, but make sure the app doesn't get updates automatically). Anyways, CopyTrans does it all. You can also create a folder with all your contacts and notes separately in whichever format you want. This link mentions more about it :)
CopyTrans Shelbee (free) alleges to do validation after you back up, but I haven't used it enough to say that it's reliable. Its restore function, however, does give you an error message a lot sooner than iTunes does (5 minutes or so for me versus 45 minutes for iTunes) when the backup is corrupt, so they at least have some solid method of telling that a backup is corrupt.
I am guessing this is a pc issue and not a device issue.
Check how much free space you have remaining on your PC's "C" Hard Drive"?
If it is nearly full you could try the following:
Enter iTunes, Select Edit, Select Preferences, click devices, and then if you have a lot of old backups, remove a couple of them.
Or
If you have additional hard drives you could back up your iTunes backups to another hard drive by following this guide:
http://www.copytrans.net/support/how-to-change-itunes-backup-location/
I randomly stumbled upon this post and I just want to tell you that I used to be in the same position as you until I found the answer: CopyTrans Manager.
Stay with me here. (This is assuming you have Windows, look around for other OS)
Go to this link: http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
Hit Download. Trust me, I've been using this for months and it's perfectly safe.
It's should download CopyTrans control center, go through the basic install and then when you see a list of apps to download hit CopyTrans Manager.
The CopyTrans Manager interface is super simple and clean, and it has literally none of the issues that you get with iTunes.
It's all drag and drop from folders, then hit 'Update' when you want to load everything you added onto your device.
A couple of things:
1: You can't have iTunes and CopyTrans manager open at the same time, so make sure iTunes is closed when adding stuff.
2: In order to add videos that you have in your iTunes library, just right click on the video in iTunes and select 'Show in Windows Explorer'. Close iTunes, open CopyTrans Manager and then just drag from the folder.
3: I don't think CopyTrans Manager discriminates between TV Shows and Movies, it's all simply videos, so adding a whole season of a show will mix the episodes with movies and other shows. This is the only slightly annoying thing about CopyTrans manager, and it's about a million times less frustrating than any of the issues iTunes has.
Any questions, just ask and I'll do my best to answer them. Hope this helps!
There are programs you can use instead of iTunes that work pretty well. I basically only use iTunes to update/backup. For Windows, I use CopytransManager....for Mac I use...uh...CopytransManager in a Windows VM...haha. Actually I use something else now but I can't remember what it is and I'm not near my Mac. I'll update when I get on it later.
The way I do it is I just create playlists and drag/drop what I want in there. So for example I have an Uplifting Mixes playlist that is full of Uplifting mixes. You can edit tags/album artwork with it as well.
If you're looking to manage your music, CopyTrans Manager is the way to go, complete with full editing of song title, album art, artist, and more. Used it for years and only a few minor issues.
A copied song would constantly try to "load lyrics" even though it doesn't have any and sometimes rogue song files will still appear on the iPod even after deletion. Had to resort to using iTunes to clean them up but other than that, no problems.
Anybody have an iTunes alternative to managing music/video on their Apple devices? Curious about this one right now: http://www.copytrans.net/
Itunes is ungodly slow and the tag info editor is horrendous.
i do have the same problem :(
there is a PC app similar to iTools but it still in beta CopyTrans App
i recommend you to use CopyTrans App only with backup apps with document and when you want to install and restore data use iTools
Here is the link http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
The whole suite is installed is 55MB so the whole thing, or just CopyTrans Manger is tiny. Here is a picture of the interface it is super easy to add music, videos or playlists.
Yeah I think it's that one buddy, if you don't have them when you open it it will give you a link to just install the drivers without the shitty iTunes.
EDIT: just found the link for you, http://www.copytrans.net/support/install-iphone-ipod-touch-and-ipad-drivers-without-installing-itunes/
Tell me if that works.
It should work with any phone, but the other user needs to have FaceTime.
Go to who who want to call in Contacts, scroll down to FaceTime and tap the little phone. Image
http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
This does all the stuff I'd need itunes for without being an obnoxious, invasive resource hog. The only downside I've seen to it so far is that it displays the same thing for artist, album, and title, so you get three lines that say, "TANGERINE DREAM - PHAEDRA - PHAEDRA", for example. No big deal.
Surprised nobody has mentioned it yet.
CopyTrans Manager. It's free, and lets you add and remove any media to iOS devices with any computer without iTunes or syncing to a library.
http://www.copytrans.net/download.php
The orange, one. And if you don't even have or want iTunes installed, there is an iOS driver package down the page further.
If you need an iTunes alternative http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php is what I use to use when I had an iPhone 4. Might have changed in the few years I sold my phone, but it let me do whatever to my phone and yet keep my music arranged the way I originally intended.
Copytrans Manager is one I use for adding tracks manually without iTunes. It's free and simple http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
I know there are others too ( I heard Ecoute is pretty good)
Hi if you want to find which carrier is locked your mobile you can visit this site http://www.copytrans.net/support/find-out-iphone-carrier-lock/ here you can follow the instructions then you can easily find which carrier is locked your mobile. After if you want to unlock your iphone you can visit this site http://www.prounlocking.com/apple-iphone/rs16wp9/ here you can get the remote unlocking service and unlock your iphone easily.
Yes, I have an iPhone 5c with iOS 7. Frequent Locations should have location data. History is a section that you have to scroll down to. It looks like this.
I use CopyTransManager to get stuff on and off my phone. Way easier than iTunes. I'm pretty good with computers and I managed to loose the one movie that wasn't pirated. I mean no matter how many times you transfer purchases or whatever that warning still comes up. And its gone.
I have used this software for a few years. I use it to skip the middle man of iTunes. you can sort though your music just like on the iPod, view only certain playlists or artists and just copy paste like you were changing folders of some files. http://www.copytrans.net/download.php
I totally understand that. well you can download music and add it straight to your ipod via YoutubeTomp3 or mewseek if thats what you want. and there are some alternatives to itunes when it come to adding music to your ipad from your pc.. I used one for some time last year but I forgot the name, sorry..
[EDIT] I found it, its called CopyTrans Manager and its free, worth a try? http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
First, hold on, you can still probably save your iTunes library with any unformat program. If that fails, there are programs that can rip your songs from your iPod Touch. I have used http://www.copytrans.net before, but but check this article out http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-computer/P2
Transfer Purchases only copies stuff you got in their store. Don't you have a backup of the other stuff like music? If you only have it on the phone you can use this app to transfer them. It's the best free one that's available for Windows.
Dude I was just on that website and I came across this software http://www.copytrans.net/copytranstuneswift.php
It says it backs up and can restore your itunes library. Not sure if that means apps and all.. but it may be worth 15 bucks if it can do that.
Look into it... hope it helps.
Update
nevermind dude it looks like its just a backup of the folder itself from the old machine (not a recovery directly off the phone) And you can back up the folder by hand for free.
There is one thing you can look into I never used this but I do know it wont help for apps.. it's just for music/movies
http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php
It's a itunes alternative software... I know it can upload music into the phone... but I assume you can pull it out too? Anyway it may help you recover some things.
I have used the freeware version of this for an old ipod I had. I think the iPhone vesion costs money though.
I've used CopyTrans in the past, but I don't think it supports iPhone 4 yet.
I was really liking the al a carte add/removal of music tracks as opposed to iTunes' mandatory full sync.
Another big plus is that you can add a track from any computer running CopyTrans, effectively freeing you from the single-computer association iTunes creates.
Edit 1: There is a free version (with some limitations)
Edit 2: The site says it now supports devices up to, and including iPhone 4 up to iOS 4.3
http://www.copytrans.net/download.php is an option.
And this first one on this list looks good. http://lifehacker.com/#!329507/the-20-best-ipod-utilities I like that you can install and run it from the iPod itself.
EDIT: http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/07/08/10-alternatives-to-itunes-for-managing-your-ipod/ This, too.
