"Added option to skip autopilot sequences in the galaxy map"
Great! When I already scanned the whole Heleus... :D
And: Patch 1.05 will begin to roll out on Thursday, April 6th.
Should include the blog post as well
> Over the next two months we’ll be rolling out additional patches which will go even deeper and look to improve several areas of the game:
More options and variety in the character creator Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder Adjustments to conversations with Hainly Abrams >
That's "Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations" and "More options and variety in the character creator".
Also "Improving the appearance of eyes for humans and asari characters" for this upcoming patch on Thursday.
Exciting stuff!
On the timeline section at https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative It's confirmed that the Arks leave in 2185
>2185 - The Andromeda Initiative is scheduled to launch. Privately funded and operating independently from the Systems Alliance, the Initiative’s mandate is to make a 600-year journey to the Andromeda galaxy in hopes of establishing a new home world. This impending galactic journey represents the most ambitious undertaking of any Milky Way race to date…
> We will continue to tell stories in the Andromeda Galaxy through our upcoming comics and novels, including the fate of the quarian ark. (source)
According to some of the comments on this sub, the upcoming book Annihilation is centered around the quarians. It was slated for release this summer but has been delayed to the end of the year, probably for rewrites since there's no SP DLC now.
It's straight from this masseffect.com page: https://www.masseffect.com/news/meet-your-squad-with-a-new-trailer
>Unlike Liam and Cora, your other squad mates, like Vetra, Peebee, and Drack, have traveled to Andromeda long before your arrival. Vetra, who is already onboard the Nexus, has found that family ties are more important than venturing deeper into the galaxy. Neither Peebee nor Drack were part of the initial Pathfinder team, and while you’ll find Peebee to be a free spirit with a penchant for alien civilizations, you’ll come to know Drack as an aged and grizzled veteran, even by krogan standards.
>Two of your starting squad mates will be Liam and Cora, who both signed up to be part of the Pathfinder team on the Ark Hyperion. Liam has already made a name for himself in the Milky Way as a security specialist, with expertise in crisis response, while Cora has had the unique experience of training with the asari matriarchs. Along with Alec, Scott, and Sara Ryder, they form the core of the Pathfinder team, and will be vital companions as you touch down on the Nexus for the first time.
>Of course, you’ll encounter a number of other companions as you traverse Andromeda in search of humanity’s new home, and will put your trust in others like Kallo Jath, your salarian pilot. Among other accomplishments, Kallo was one of the engineers who built the Tempest in its Milky Way construction, and knows the ship inside and out.
Heads up for people who want to unlock the Pathfinder armour in game, briefing 4 of 6 with a new trailer is up now.
For anyone who hasn't started this yet, you just have to login with your EA account and watch the trailers.
They were so kind to put up a trial-version indefinitely. Give it a try. I'd say it is a good game and unlike some people I felt the Mass Effect spirit all the way.
If you talk to one of the NPCs on Hyperion after completing the game, they'll tell you that they've picked up a faint signal somewhere in the galaxy. The signal features a Quarian voice sending an emergency report.
IIRC, you also receive a message at your terminal talking about it.
One more thing is the APEX missions. While it's not single-player, per se, the briefing on one of the missions ended with a Quarian transmission. The notable thing about it is that this mission happened after the initial "Mass Effect is on ice" debacle, though it's also before the latest "there will be no DLC" rumor. Many believe that, if DLC plans were truly scrapped, they would've deleted those final lines from the briefing.
They actually confirmed that they're done with Andromeda-the-game a while ago, and the studio's disbanding indicates they're also pretty done with Andromeda-the-property.
All 6 of these Andromeda Initiative videos are now out. If you watch them all on the Mass Effect Andromeda training hub website, you can get a free in-game Pathfinder helmet.
According to the AI Training Hub, they did mention that Pathfinder teams would have to scout the viability of golden worlds, "pacify hostile threats", "make deals with indigenous people" and "scout hostile environments"... so technically we do resolve the "Golden Worlds" problem. Except that after you drop the outposts, they become unchanging environments, nothing really happens, they don't get bigger, they don't grow crops (Eos) or have visible ice harvesting (Voeld)
The Nexus was highly hyped as "would be changing and adapting, as resources from the Golden Worlds become available", in Training Hub videos 2 and 6, but in reality the only changes to the Nexus is the missing Arks eventually dock to it. It remains unfinished throughout the entire game, no matter how much progress you make on Eos, Voeld, Kadara & Elaaden.
So the list of "things we do resolve" is really two things ... we fix 5 malfunctioning vaults and dropped outposts on the so-called Golden Worlds. And we overcome the Angaran "all aliens = threat" mentality, although the Roekaar may remain a problem depending on how each player handled Akksul.
I think that's pretty much it. "We arrived" isn't really an accomplishment, when you consider how many new plots spring up after arrival, and how aside from "fixing" the Golden Worlds, nothing gets tied up.
Has nothing to do with the "previous" triology. This Andromeda Initative is set up before the Reaper invasion. In short: They send a huge multi species Arc-expedition force into a new galaxy to colonize new worlds, exploit new ressources and meet new races.
There are six short briefing videos found here https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative and the first ones should fill you in. If you watch all six while logged in, get a free hat for the game.
Besides that, if you sign up for their newsletter here, you get the Platinum Nomad skin. I don't know how to unsubscribe right now, but you'll be able to once you get the first newsletter.
They have to release at least one in May. On April 4th they posted "The Journey Ahead" blog post, where Aaryn Flynn detailed the changes for upcoming patches. The patches are meant to be released in next two months, so they have time until June 4th. It's already high time to release at least one patch.
https://www.masseffect.com/news/the-journey-ahead
BTW many people protect BioWare, saying that they already released one patch, so we should give them time. However that is not true. Keep in mind that patch 1.05 is NOT part of "The Journey Ahead for next 2 months" announcement.
Aaryn Flynn specifically wrote "This Thursday, we’ll release a new patch that addresses technical fixes", which was the patch 1.05 and THEN, below, it is written that during next 2 months there will be ADDITIONAL PATCHES coming up with more serious fixes. This patches are the ones with big changes from "The Journey Ahead", not the 1.05 one.
Just saying this so people won't start "come on, give them time, they released already one part of that announcement". No, they did not, so far they didn't release anything from "The Journey Ahead". The 1.05 patch was probably created earlier and is not part of the "wave of changes" enforced by the sh_tstorm this game got during first days. I'm not trying to be an a__hole here, just pointing out the truth. They should REALLY give us some info now about the patch, and I honestly fully expect them to release both patches (assuming there are two) until June 4th and not a single day later.
1400+: "There's old, and then there's Drack. The elder krogan spent more than 1,400 years causing a ruckus in the Milky Way—wearing the title of soldier, mercenary, and at times, pirate. When the loyal, but stubborn, veteran was given the chance to join his clan on a voyage to Andromeda, he had no choice but to sign up. Doing so would present him with a whole new galaxy of stuff to shoot."
Just a few extra pieces of DLC. Probably not enough to change anyone's mind.
>In addition to all the above, we're also happy to announce today that players who own the Deluxe Edition or the Super Deluxe Edition will receive, in May 2017:
> 1 exclusive Multiplayer Pack – featuring your highest chance of getting an Ultra-Rare item
>2 additional custom Nomad Skins – explore open worlds in style
> 1 additional Pathfinder Casual outfit – perfect for your romance ambitions
This is just my 2 cents, but no, it is most certainly not worth $20 for just the multiplayer. If you're planning on playing the Single-player than yes, it is worth it.
I absolutely fell in love with ME3's multiplayer and spent 200 hours worth of effort just trying to find something I liked about MEA's multiplayer and I couldn't.
It feels like the Dev's implemented a ton of great ideas and decided to hold it together with off brand scotch tape.
A lot of people really do enjoy the game and you might be one of those people. There currently is a Trial so if you want to see for yourself that's a good place to start.
Though it's worth noting that the MP side also put out a tease for the quarian ark after the whole "on ice" thing. The mission brief for the last APEX mission included a transmission from them.
Looks like we gotta wait and see.
The Arc Initiative. During the period just before ME1 the council races decided to fund a colonization expedition to the Andromeda galaxy.
There's some cool videos about it on the website.
Good question — that's definitely something I'd like in HR. I can't find anything with "Search Google for Image," though.
The link is for www.masseffect.com/n7, but right now www.masseffect.com/n7 redirects to https://www.masseffect.com/news/mass-effect-n7-day. Maybe the image will be on www.masseffect.com/n7 tomorrow? Maybe it'll be a new lithograph or something. I don't know, just spitballing.
You're in the UK - so it releases on the 23rd there. 21st for North America, 23rd for all other regions.
It's some antiquated release date thing. The US releases on Tuesdays, other regions on Thursdays. I think in the UK it used to be Fridays so at least you don't have to wait that extra day.
I'm in Aus so I feel the pain. It'll be a long 2 day internet blackout to avoid spoilers.
https://www.masseffect.com/news/the-journey-ahead
http://blog.bioware.com/2017/04/04/mass-effect-andromeda-patch-1-05-notes/
They're doing both already. They are improving lip synch and running animations with the patch coming out tomorrow. As far as the animations from the cinematics... that could be a bit more tricky. But this is a good sign so far, and from my experience with Dragon Age: Inquisition I have faith in Bioware putting in some work to address the valid concerns the community has.
All I'm saying is there's inconsistency in how she sounds. Listen to this and tell me it's totally the same.
I have had Origin Access ever since Mirror's Edge Catalyst. It carried over for Need For Speed, Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1. No reason to not carry over for this one.
Edit: Found sauce for ya. https://www.masseffect.com/buy Scroll down to the bottom of the website. Find the EA Access logo
You can always try the 10-hour trial: https://www.masseffect.com/trial
Personally I think the hate is massively overblown and it is roughly on the same level as ME1. There are some story issues, and the open world design isn't the best, but the linear missions are pretty good, most side quests have decent writing (even if the actual design is lacking), and the combat is excellent and very fun.
the weapon has a built in scope like that if you add the scope it seems
https://www.masseffect.com/en-gb/andromeda-initiative/training-hub/weapons-and-biotics
look at the model for the avenger that comes up mid video here and it has one.
https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/training-hub
You can watch the previous two, and the next three will get released there until the launch.
Vastly better than the official trailers.
Have you been keeping up? I would recommend to just go search mass effect Andromeda and watch every thing that's been released. To much info to explain. Start with the trailers and the nexus videos on the mass effect website
> I don't understand why that assumption was ever made.
To be fair, the Apex mission page had the countdown superimposed over the artwork of the new characters which could easily give the impression of that connection.
But yes, seems like it actually has to be November 7th somewhere in the world rather than an arbitrary mission timer.
Actually, neither.
Comparing the timelines on the MEA page: https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative
With the timeline on the wiki page: http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline
The rough answer is actually: ME2 and the launch of the Andromeda arks occurs at the same time. Or at least, during the same year. Which one happens first is a matter of speculation.
Again, we don't know that is when they actually launch, but that is the listed scheduled year of the launch.
Feel better!
In other news any word on the mysterious batarian from last weeks apex mission?
https://www.masseffect.com/apex-missions/apex-mission-brief-14 - for reference.
That story line heavily hinted at a new character yet doesn't appear to be released yet?
Well there was this Quarian Ark teasing a month ago. Read the last two lines of the briefing.
The mission had nothing to do with it and it is literally just two lines of text that they could simply have removed if they didn't intend to tease it.
Was Bioware not aware of the Deadline until last minute or something? Either there's some really bad planning going on or some real idiocy is happening. they had 5 years. Something tells me a project of this caliber is very possible within 5 years. That's half a decade for pete's sake.
To say that it was Rushed and corners were cut just sounds straight up unbelievable at this point. They we're given 5 Years, I hate EA as much as the next guy, but at what point do we question that line?
It's not like EA just announced the date and Bioware found out like everyone else and was suddenly rushing, Here's the GM of Bioware giving the release date himself As much as people love to blame the Boogie-man, sometimes you gotta realize your hero's can make mistakes and aren't exempt from criticism.
EA didn't force them to switch game engine entirely 7 months before release. EA didn't force them to hire trash human beings. And I highly doubt EA had anything to do with the release-date.
the industry has been using consumers as $60 beta testers for a while now. This just seems like another case to me.
you can get a 10 hour trial of the game from origin access or ea access.
I'd be really surprised if the Reapers are mentioned as a motivation for the Andromeda Initiative - you'd think they'd put that in the briefings for new applicants. Seems to me like it's more the exploaratory spirit that drives it.
check the Andromeda Initiative link in the description (link), there's more
>Smaller in scope, yes. But has online related problems like netcode/desync etc. Which Andromeda never had to deal with.
It's not like multiplayer is some huge hurdle indie devs can't handle, BSG seems to be the only ones fumbling so hard. Think of a bunch of indie games, chances are, a lot of them are multiplayer. Just off the top of my head: Insurgency, Squad, Foxhole, Miscreated, Onward (1 developer!), etc.. Hell, it feels like there are indie developers releasing multiplayer-only games for iOS every single day.
(Oh also I get your point, but I'd like to mention Andromeda totally had a multiplayer mode.)
Yeah but Andromeda is a completely different game. It's a singleplayer (mostly) RPG designed to have insane amounts of content, and a lot of its issues stemmed from that large, RPG-focused scope (procedural face animations made to handle tons of dialogue turned into monsters). If you were to compare EFT to anything, compare it to games of its genre, or games that are similar: games like DayZ, Hunt: Showdown, Rust, etc.
It's the same reason I don't get off on doing the reverse with something like: "oh man Stardew Valley was made on a budget less than a cup of coffee and it ended up so good why can't BSG do the same with tarkov!?!?!?". They're clearly different genres and face different necessities in its development -- apples to oranges.
Would it be difficult to make a patch to increase text size? Probably not?
Chances Bioware will listen or care? Less than 1%. Considering they announced awhile ago that they are done patching the game
I'm on mobile so I'll try to link it to ya :https://www.masseffect.com/news/the-journey-ahead?sf53509845=1
They say within the next two months they'll roll out patches to fix things like the character creator and cinematics and the like. Hopefully promising :)
On their "Journey Ahead" post they're saying the Thursday patch will include technical fixes for crashes and improved performance. https://www.masseffect.com/news/the-journey-ahead
It probably won't be the end-all for people's performance issues but I imagine we'll see some marginal improvement as they optimize it better.
https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative
This website, it's where all the Initiative Briefing came out first. You watch 6/6 on that site while connected to your EA Account and you'll get a Helmet in game. If you sign up for the Newsletter you'll also get a Nomad Skin. As long as you play ME:A with the same EA account.
> there should have been teasers of with information about the ships sent to the andromeda galaxy (basic lore building), and just stuff getting people hyped and immersed in the lore, science, and science fiction aspects of the game.
There were, but they posted them on their website, and not everyone even knew about them, much less watched the videos:
https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/training-hub
Website says march 16 for origin access,
https://www.masseffect.com/news/mass-effect-andromeda-play-first-trial
but origin only shows preload on 17th and release on 20th?
when is our true origin access date
> Founded in 2176 and launched in 2185, the Andromeda Initiative is a civilian, multi-species project created to send scientists, explorers and colonists on a one-way trip to settle in the Andromeda Galaxy. With powerful benefactors lending their support, the program has grown substantially in scope since its inception. The Initiative’s ultimate goal is to establish a permanent presence on the seemingly resource-rich frontier of Andromeda, and eventually create a reliable route between it and the Milky Way Galaxy.
The info comes from the first Briefing when you press on the button that appears in the lower right corner, "Tell me about the Andromeda Intiative". It sounds like it was more curiosity and exploration along with an eventual need for more resources that created the mission.
On your second question, knowing the AI was launched in 2185 means this happens somewhere before or after Shepard's revival by Cerberus, though we can't say when exactly.
It's stated on the official website (see the Andromeda Initiative training briefing, at https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/training-hub/welcome) that the Initiative was "founded" in 2176 (the year of the Skyllian Blitz), actually launching in 2185 (the year of the events of Mass Effect 2). The briefing also states the flight time will be 600 years.
I sincerely doubt that.
Filler sidequests are an easy way to make a game seem larger. And the fact that they've already shown they aren't above resorting to cheap tricks, don't get your hopes up.
If you wonder what I mean by that, check out the Andromeda Initiative. Content and, as per EA's words, several additional sidequests most gamers will never get because you have to sign up now, do stuff, and there's a user limit. Typical.
I haven't gotten one either... is it only a select handful of people that signed up? I would be so disappointed :(
EDIT: you can manually put yourself in by going here and signing in: https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/training-hub/welcome
> I picked up the game on sale, having given EA plenty of time to fix any graphical issues, and I still found the game to be a steaming pile of shit.
I meant look at the store page INSTEAD of that site, as in that's a possible alternative.
Fernando answered a TON of questions so I consider this week well worth it.
There is a bonus pack related to some charity donations, see https://www.masseffect.com/news/mass-effect-andromeda-play-to-give
It's available to anyone who plays this weekend.
All of the special storyline missions just keep getting extended day-by-day until that part of the storyline ends. Which should be today 18 May 2017 for Archon's Remnant Fortress, according to https://www.masseffect.com/apex-missions
I don't use the multiplayer, but according to https://www.masseffect.com/apex-hq-app, you can use it to customize your characters before a match.
You can have a maximum of 10 Strike Team missions available and mine reset every day at 8:00 PM EDT.
I'm pretty sure you can assign equipment in-game but I'm at work now so I can't verify that.
You claim your unclaimed rewards at the Stike Team Console in-game. IIRC, there are 3 icons at the top in the console and you click on the chest icon on the right to see them.
We might actually see that hopefully, since BioWare released a statement saying that they plan to start rolling out additional patches in the next two months to bring "Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder" (among other improvements).
A link if you fancy the read: https://www.masseffect.com/news/the-journey-ahead?sf53509845=1
Looks like they're focusing on the eyes of the Asari and Humans first with some lipsync adjustments. I think the eyes were one of the biggest issues with the characters so it'll be a good change.
After all this, one really has to ask exactly why Bioware came to the conclusion that "the game is ready to release, it comes soon!" after their "holiday build"
Its clear that some really annoying parts shouldve been ironed out. (For example, the transition animations seem like something to fix quite easy. Same goes for SAM talking so much and maybe adding a 2nd or 3rd asari face. Aswell as some pretty obvious lack in QA - glitching through walls, AI Pathfinding being horrible in the later stages, but nearly perfect in specific missions; not even touching any animations)
If you are curious about the base premise and what is happening that leads up to the story. You can watch these 6 videos, and you get a pathfinder helmet
You can get a reward (helmet, more to come) for watching every briefing if you log into this site with your EA account. It has all the briefings and tracks your progress. Warning: no volume control; adjust your speakers/headset before watching.
Be sure to use the EA account that you're going to use for playing the game, i. e. your Origin account or, if you're on consoles, one that's linked to your PSN/XBL account. As far as I know, you can't link more than one of each.
I'm kinda late to say this, but don't forget to watch the video on the official website too, because you can get a free helmet, if you watch all of the Andromeda Initiative videos. (You need to log in with your Origin account) https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/recruit
Here's an example: the link to the mass effect website is here
Or this is the mass effect website
Kinda just let it flow in your post

More or less this. :) You can check the website for all the tidbits of information too: https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative
Side note, the Andromeda Initiative left the Milky Way right around the time where Shepard died in ME2's intro and was resurrected. They have no clue about the Reapers and the whole galactic survival war that happened, as far as we know, considering the Council worked their hardest to deny the Reapers' existence until ME3's start. They also don't know of pretty much any player-involved major decisions such as curing (or not) the Genophage, uniting (or siding with) Geth and Quarians, etc...
There's two different versions of the collector's bundle: one with the RC Nomad for $199 USD, another with a replica of the Nomad for $99 USD. Both come with a steel case for the game, but do not actually include a game disc.
From the official website: https://www.masseffect.com/buy/collectors-edition
Unfortunately it's sold seperately. Link: https://www.masseffect.com/en-gb/buy/collectors-edition
I'm kinda bummed we don't have a nice huge bundle with a game, art book, etc. I really wanted to buy whatever the collector's edition was, but now I'm not so sure.
Mass Effect Andromeda is offering a 10 hour free trial right now on all platforms. 10 hours is pretty generous, try it out. Maybe you'll only play 5 hours and never want to play it again.
It hasn't been absolute silence. They told us two weeks after the game went live what their plan was through June (the end of the second fiscal quarter). Patch 1.08 pretty much finishes that list of improvements, if they want it to.
We probably won't hear anything official until the beginning of July (Q3), but that's only a few weeks away.
It's available until 15th (for those thinking it was one day only). >From Saturday, June 10 to Thursday, June 15 at 9AM PDT

I know there was a lot of talk the last couple of weeks about BW Montreal being "downsized" and ME:A 2 being put on hiatus, but that's really a skewed version of events. The fact of the matter is that most game-production positions in a dev studio are largely irrelevant once that game is released to the world. So instead of having people remain on the project and soak up paychecks without adding value to their work, EA/Bioware moved their employees to other projects/studios, which is common practice for a large company like that. No one was fired, and at no point has Bioware mentioned discontinuing its support for Andromeda. Quite the contrary actually, they released a blurb not too long ago indicating that the game will receive post-release support just like previous BW titles, multiplayer included.
Yes. Andromeda has nothing to do with the original trilogy. The first three were heavily related so you needed to play the previous before going on to the next. Andromeda, however, is a whole new story with all new characters taking place over six centuries later, millions of light-years away from the first story.
You can play Andromeda, and get all the lore you need for the Mass Effect universe. There will be reference to the previous trilogy, but won't give much away so you can still enjoy it if you want to go back and play them. But yes Andromeda is a standalone that requires no previous knowledge of Mass Effect.
There is a training website for Andromeda Initiative that introduces you to the Mass Effect Andromeda game that you can watch before playing: https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/training-hub
Here for example, it says that the inferno rifle is a new weapon: https://www.masseffect.com/apex-missions/apex-mission-brief-03
Is it still available or has it disappeared? Moreover, right next to it, there is the 'Adaptive War Amp' that even says 'Limited Time'. I am confused :-/
http://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Bugs-Known-issues-list-for-MEA/td-p/5942772 Running list of most user-reported bugs they're looking through. This is what the first patch has been partly modelled after, and seems the second one will take into consideration. Not only that, but they had their previous patch, and next patch time estimation as well as a list of things theyre going to correct (https://www.masseffect.com/news/the-journey-ahead) so far, and from what it looks like itll maintain a rolling list. Their twitter also responds to bug reports as well. My point was that when people complain about MEA, they mention bugs, point out how flawless W3 was and refuse to acknowledge the fact it was badly bugged during launch and handled poorly. Thats what it seemed like you were saying, unless it is and you completely missed what i was saying. From a gameplay perspective, W3 is still 'go here, go back, go there again to do 3rd thing, go kill thing, run across cave/drowner nest/ and get distracted' with a living world of people. MEA is similar, but with the mass effect twist on it when it comes to inventory and shops and not as many people because a lot of the worlds are lightly populated due to parts of the plot. Considering it's the team's first outing at an open world, a new thing for the franchise, and a split in focus for the multiplayer portion and it's a good base with a lot done right that they can only build on and improve. Theyre taking criticism, being vocal with the fixes they need to do, and we can only assume when MEA2 comes out that itll be better. I'm not a mass effect fanboy, it just seems like people are too busy shit talking it without playing and going into the game with poor expectations due to the entire month everyone was bitching.
10% Encounter XP helm for free from Bioware if you do the Andromeda Initiative Training Hub (watching 6 training videos) on the official site.
https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/training-hub
https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/training-hub
You'll have to sign in with your EA account that you play Andromeda on to actually get the reward for watching all 6 videos. I think you also get a special Nomad skin too.
it was a reward for watching all the "training" videos released in the months leading up, starting back in (i think) november. not available anymore i think. if it is, try watching them here.
I don't think you'll miss anything. From the looks of the store page the pre-order items are only for the standard edition. That is, if you purchase the Deluxe or Super Deluxe edition later, you'll end up getting them anyway.
Here's the chart:
https://www.masseffect.com/buy
I'm not 100% sure though of course since this may have been a trip up by EA in how they represented the chart. But since the parenthesis is placed by the Standard edition and not the other editions, I'm saying that you're not missing out on pre-order bonuses if you plan on picking up the Deluxe or Super Deluxe edition down the line.
EDIT:
I'd also like to add that it seems that it will be possible to upgrade from standard to deluxe edition after launch.
Thread that discussed it: https://www.reddit.com/r/masseffect/comments/5xthko/no_spoilers_mass_effect_andromeda_deluxe_edition/
Tweet from BW employee posted in that thread: https://twitter.com/bio_derek/status/830124082414964736
My bad, I didn't realize the entire fucking official website complete with briefings and information counted as 'no backstory'.
I don't even like this shitcan of a game and yet I know more about it than you.
Also it's 'you keep pressing', because according to Andromeda writers grammar correction is good writing now.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: The game was intended to be a new, fresh game that anyone could pick up and play without needing any prior knowledge of the older games. While knowing certain races, combat tactics, lore, references, etc. would be a good thing to have, it's not required at all. This game takes place 600 years in the future, where most of the events in the old games aren't important. It was even stated by the developers that even Commander Shepard (main character in the first 3 games) would be nothing more than a legend and not have anything to do with the game.
You're welcome to watch the many trailers on the website. Also, if you join the Initiative Program and watch all 6 videos, (make sure to read all the information if you're curious) you get a cool helmet for your character.
Hope this helped! Have fun playing.
you did preorder it though.
on the other hand, can't see why it would be any surprise. mass effect website clearly states the trial is for ea access and origin access members.

Yes, it's completely unconnected from the events of the first trilogy and doesn't assume you know anything. That said, if you want to get some idea ahead of time of some of the lore and how the universe works, you could check out the Andromeda Initiative website where they present some background information through videos. And if you watch all of the videos you unlock a bonus DLC in the game.
The Arks and Nexus video briefing for Initiative says "more than one-and-a-half kilometers long and weighing 17 million metric-tons"
her Bio says Biotic destabilize and gunslinger so it sounds like an adept. Vetra might be a sentinel and Cora is a vanguard and who knows what Jaal could be be maybe infiltrator since he has a long cloak.
One more after this*
There are 6 briefings total. They're not super detailed, but they're a fun way to get hyped, and find out a little more about the game. Also, watch all six (on the website) and you get a bonus helmet once the game comes out.
EDIT: so the trailer wasn't a briefing, but there are still going to be 6 briefings total
In case it wasn't clear, I think Aaryn Flynn was referring to the PC version there. The console versions will only support HDR10 but the PC version will support Dolby Vision as well.
"For PC gamers, Mass Effect: Andromeda will support 4K resolution and Dolby Vision" - that's from an official press release that has been on the Mass Effect site for months. I think Flynn is correct here.
I don't think there's any harm in supporting both HDR standards for now. Fabrice Condominas (producer) said the support was getting integrated into Frostbite anyway, so it wasn't a huge amount of extra work for the dev team.

Lots more than just a pyjack, 2 armors (one for pre-order standard, and another for deluxe), extra casual outfit, weapon set, multiplayer boosters.
Think DAI pre-order type bonuses...

Straight from the horse's mouth. Actually instead of Fall 2016 I think it was Q4 2016 which still could've been in the fall. I don't think it is coming too soon, but it is being marketed way too late.
Wish they'd take a page from Bethesda's book and not even reveal the game until 6 months before the release date.
The setup is your character (one of the Ryder siblings) leave the Milky Way galaxy on a 600 year journey to the Andromeda galaxy. This journey starts in 2185, the end of Mass Effect 2.

Gives a bunch of info for the setting and unlocks a helmet in game if you do all the stuff.
Playing the 1st 3 would have you be more familiar with the species that will be on the journey.
some official trilogy trailers are definitely great, but talking about Andromeda, everything i liked is only briefing videos, this is true Mass Effect.

watch the videos, while you are at it, info po-ups will display. In the second video you will see one calles "project leaders" or so.

Oh, just like /u/N7_Jord says below, i have the link https://www.masseffect.com/en-au/buy before and after changing it to the https://www.masseffect.com/ru-ru/buy i see "Spring 2017" in Russian language.
Is it this page? I've been wondering for the longest time what it means. Did not occur to me that it's an error

Same link as the current top comment on this post provided with the same dates. Andromeda Initiative was begun in the 2170's, and launched in 2185, the same time Mass Effect 2 took place. The Reaper Invasion was 2186.
This opens up the door to a Cerberus presence onboard because it's said "powerful benefactors" are behind the "multi species, civilian effort." Given the Illusive Man's vested interest in keeping humans competitive (and on top) in galactic affairs, I don't see any way the human benefactors don't include Cerberus directly, or at least a subsidiary company or donor (see Henry Lawson).
There is a bit more here but no gameplay.
My guess is that Pathfinders get all the advanced stuff talked about here: https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-initiative/training-hub as well as something unsaid that makes them uniquely qualified to explore and settle planets.
I'll bet that's what the rock halo guy was refrencing in this trailer.
People seem to have trouble getting in through the email so you can also use this link. Being logged in to your Origin account on the site first seems to record your progress.
