Have you tried the steps outlined Here?
Seems it's not an uncommon problem. Something with steam sync.
concerning multiplayer I would add that you should have a look at the media posted on shadowrun.com (deeplink to the SRO part). It's not exactly a typical MMO:)
This is a tough choice. It is always hard with groups that have such a sharp divide in play style.
I don't know how your players feel about Star Wars but Edge of the Empire is a great Hybrid system. The majority of the 400+ page rule book is about combat. There is alot for the power gamey bloodthirsty types to sink their teeth into. If you look at Star Wars, almost every scene is an action scene or takes place right before an action scene. That said, the system has a great deal of agency for player creativity. The dice mechanics really support the narrative and when players make mechanical choices they resonate in the narrative. As a story gamer I love it. As a power gamer I love it.
If you are looking for a lighter diversion Feng Shui and the soon to be printed Feng Shui 2 are an amazing blend of storytelling and ass kicking. Feng Shui is almost all combat. However the combat is less concerned about how many dice you are rolling than how cool your character looks while kicking ass. The mechanics encourage lavish descriptions of awesome fights. There is also enough meat on that bone for the power gamers to have their fun. The game supports and even expects broken characters. It's also my all time favorite.
I'm also going to throw out Shadowrun as a dark horse. IT's about mercenaries living in a cyberpunk dystopia full of magic. The game is mostly combat stuff but the world is so rich and story focused players can easily find fun things to do. It's also set in our future so you can play in your home city with supplemental material customized for where you live which is neat.
All of these games have more "fuck the man, fight the power" protagonists. I think they could all serve the tonal shift you are looking for really well.
There are no mixed race offspring. Not officially. You can have or gain damaged metagenetics, which allow you to express features of one race while being another, but that's not the same thing.
Metagenes aren't just dormant or active, they're essentially walled off behind common genes. The only way to interact with them as a geneticist is to alter the genes they're tied to, and even when you activate the correct metagenes, they only express in certain groupings. (ie; metatypes & metavariants)
IIRC, Target: Wastelands has some info on the subject. I remember finding reference in the wiki, but I'm not sure where. If you dig through the first three editions of core books, there's a surprising amount of info there, too.
>Does one parent win out, are some metatypes dominant, or is it random?
Goblinoid races are dominant with humans, (hence the perjorative "breeders") but it is possible to be born human to goblinoid parent(s) - in which case you have something like a 1/20 chance of not goblinising during puberty.
>Are there any rough demographics tables, at least for the UCAS area?

The books.
Ah, there was a post from Mitch in this topic about it as well:
http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/discussion/38355/so-how-is-it-doing-sr-dragonfall#Item_42
"Thanks for the responses. I LOVE the idea of a fan-funded campaign because of the heavy interaction with the audience. We've considered another Kickstarter but I'm not convinced we should do one. It is a ton of work to plan and manage one and I am loathe to allow stretch goals to dramatically increase the scope/complexity/time commitment of another expansion.
Also, fan-funded means covering the operating budget. That doesn't necessarily translate into a viable, sustainable business. For that, you need a lot more people purchasing the game. Dragonfall has been very well received by the audience and the reviewers and we're appreciative that our hard work shows. Over time, we hope and expect sales to justify another. I hate to leave it vague for now because a producer's mortal enemy is ambiguity. If you're like me, and want to know sooner rather than later, let's get creative about surfacing Dragonfall. CYNICALP: SRR had about 40k backers, not 70k."
I asked the same thing regarding Gentry's character sheet that came with the Runner's Toolkit: Alphaware on the official forums. They said a bunch of things from "it's a throwback to when deckers NEEDED multiple datajacks" to "One of the writers says you get +1 Noise Reduction for every datajack you have," which sounds really dumb to me since you're not using all the datajacks on one device.
I personally like to think of it as being able to link to your deck and your Smartgun without going wireless, or your deck and a device on the Host you're trying to hack, at the same time.
That's true, plus the official website has a nice little four-part story tied into the Shadowrun Online setting.
Here is a link including the entirety of the Harbor Heist story and the first parts of two other stories.
Shadowrun: Crossfire has a similar structure, where you gain XP and then can "purchase" all sorts of different skills. Don't know if you're familiar with the Shadowrun world but it's basically dystopian near-future sci-fi meets fantasy.
Unfortunately I found it brutally difficult and was rarely able to gain XP (ie, lost constantly),which was no fun and therefore I don't play it anymore. Plenty of people DO seem to like it. I think maybe it works better with 3-4 characters (I did all my plays with two).
For those who don't know, there is a viral marketing campaign CGL started to have in world fluff posted on twitter and Shadowrun.com but it doesn't look like they've kept up with it since SR5 launched. Which is a bit sad. I'd love to see them tease new books using these, but I realize that it takes a while to do that and CGL doesn't exactly have a huge staff as is.
Convince a cash register that your empty Credstick really has tons of money. Or even convince an ATM that it should fill your Credstick with money from an empty bank account.
I remember seeing this fan based comic. The forum has some links to some artwork on DA. It's not quite canon but fun is fun Omae. Not sure if there is more.
I assume you're familiar with Shadowrun/™?

The main question you have to ask yourself is "Were there always elves, dragons, and stuff or did they recently re-appear?"
Welcome! The best place to find information on making UGC is the wiki. There are some good tutorials and articles in there.
The videos in the tutorials were made by Harebrained Schemes a few years ago. The editor has changed a bit since then, so things won't look exactly the same, but it should still be close. Some of the stuff will look different depending on whether you're using the Shadowrun Returns, Dragonfall, or Hong Kong version of the editor.
If you run into problems or have questions, the best place I've found to get help and advice is the Shadowrun forum. It's a little quiet, but there are some good, experienced creators in there.
Good luck!

I love the idea of an undercity below the city streets where the persecuted have made themselves a home. Ork Underground gets a big rubber-stamp of approval from me.
Have you read this? It's pretty entertaining: http://www.shadowrun.com/2070/2013/07/12/orzet-for-tourists/
according to the official forum there will be some update and a trailer about Dragonfall on the 28th of January http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/discussion/36057/shadowrun-dragonfall-shadowrun-returns/p2
They're doing a data pack for shadowrun to be used with hero lab.
Shadowrun Online doesn't look too bad either. While it's online and 4th ed based :( it still looks cool and the storyline will be connected to that of SRR:)
closest thing that one can think of is Sterilize, masking, and Flexible Signature but also checkout Artifacts.
if one's GM allows for it then I could see a plot device where there's a covert lab working with wage mages and scientists attempting to develop an artifact for the Yakuza to help their runners be more convert. Now, how your character came into possession of such a valuable magical tech is between you and Mr. Johnson.
Also, the thing to remember with astral signatures. Mundane are like a single low power led while mages are a typically a torch, magical creatures/spells typically light up like a bat signal, and dragons well a super nova (unless they're willingly hiding their ability then its just like a very lit up mage)
Some years ago CGl got a Long-Term License Extension. I don't know how long 'Long-Term' is in a business context, but I'd guess at least 6th edition is gonna be from Catalyst, maybe even 7th...
If you want to play in a setting other than swords and sorcery, I'd say don't even bother with Dungeons and Dragons at all, grab yourself an RPG in the genre you want to play.
Try "The Morrow Project", it's one book, simple enough rules for a first time game, it's in the setting that you want.
http://timelineltd.3dcartstores.com//The-Morrow-Project-Game-Book-4th-Ed-Hardback_p_21.html
But if you really want to go Post Apocalyptic and weird as shit, then there's probably no stronger showing than Shadowrun. http://www.shadowrun.com/ - Of course it's an incredibly complicated and elaborate game with tons of books and support materials, related videogames, online resources, etc. Plus if you're not opposed to a little light piracy all of the PDFs are relatively easy to come by.
I couldn't help but notice your system appears heavily influenced by Shadowrun. If you haven't heard of it I'd highly recommend to take a moment and check out the RPG and read it's lore and world it's my favorite Table Top RPG I personally prefer 5th edition to 3rd it feels more freeing.
Small update here - I'm happy to finally put myself out there and show some progress on my Hong Kong based UGC
The Fnord Scandal
Welcome to UCAS Toronto, the 3rd largest and cleanest city in the UCAS. The year is 2055 and the antics of populist mayor Rob Fnord are the highlights of the local news outlets.
You are a no-level nub, living in a squat and working a dead-end part-time job at Stuffer Shack. You dream of bigger things - running in the shadows, hitting a mega pay day and living the high life somewhere exotic.
I'll be keeping a small progress thread on the Shadowrun forums: http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/discussion/46230/the-fnord-scandal
Huge thanks to the SR Identity Slack Chat - they are the best!
It's a fusion of dystopian cyberpunk and fantasy set in the near future. Players play mercenaries hired by the various mega-corporations or other factions as deniable assets. You can find more information here: http://www.shadowrun.com/what-is-shadowrun/
She cooks dinner for me, and generally pays attention to the stuff I like and don't. Sounds pretty basic, but it means a lot to me.
We are nerds together. It is awesome. We have more in-jokes than you can shake a stick at. I'm convinced there will come a day when we talk only in mutual in-jokes, obscure media references, and sarcasm.
She loves animals, and while she has taken it too far from time to time (stupid bird), generally I love that about her.
And sexy? Her ability to get out the door in 15 minutes if needed. Her ability to find what she needs in a store and then check out. Then there's her body, of course--I've told her what I think about when she bends over to check her fish tank (which you can probably guess).
Also she's creative. We met playing Shadowrun (the tabletop version, that is), and we're working on our very own setting for a different game.
No. It's how the game always works. And yes it is mean.
It's not in the errata. It's in all previous versions. They forgot to reprint it.

My tank wears light armor because he gets most of it from his cyberware, so that damage splits between stun/phys.
There is a thriving German community of Shadowrun authors and fans, I understand they have much more detailed information.
There is information on the wiki about Berlin, the AGS and Andreas Schroth (a Berliner who works for Catalyst as an author) put up a thread that has lots of cool tidbits.
Hope that helps.
Well we have six people will to play a one person saying he will take in other players so it is on you as the GM to figure out how you want to handle but we could split the people into 3 and 3 or 4 and 2 or take all six whatever your jam is. As for the books if you can't find any you can always buy them off of Shadowruns main website. http://www.shadowrun.com/
see my thread with how to get the save game editor - you can get the names of the items you lost from an old save and inject them back into your stash
No problemo, omae. I just thought of two more avenues fer ya:
1. This comment on the SR Hong Kong Kickstarter page has a very in-depth run down of several UGC's.
2. Checkout Shadowrun.com's UGC section here if you want to get in the weeds with UGC a bit more and interact with the UGC creators. Stay frosty in the shadows.
Thanks for the reply! I have finished the original DMS campaign by now.
I see, the spread-out community seems to be the biggest problem? Either way, I found a reasonably active forum over at shadowrun.com and a decent walkthrough as well.
I mostly had questions about good builds and secrets in the campaign, I mostly found what I wanted to know by looking around a bit. Still, a comprehensive wiki would be great. But I suppose I am somewhat spoiled by the likes of Terraria or Skyrim :)
OOC: Gotcha. I'd like to say - This is going quite well! In case you were wondering this is what Ishi looks like.
Ishi gives the operator a half smile and nudges Flek forward, followed diligently by Heather a half step behind. Ishi can hear Bruce give the operator a cheerful "And you!" behind him.
Their disguise of tech hawkers worked well for them with Gadget playing a merchant and Bruce his hired muscle. Ishi had left them specific instructions to act as a separate group and tail them using the Tac-com's feeds. The Idea was that they would stick in the alley opposite the three houses and provide intel.
Ishi touched his sore eye - It has bruised better than expected. He'd asked Bruce to punch him square in the face. No substitute for a downtrodden face than to wear a shiner on it. Bruce didn't relish it but Ishi had to pull rank to make him do it - Wasn't proud of it.
Flek had offered to punch him as well, which was respectfully declined.
They moved slowly. Cautiously. The Unders were a sight - Ishi noticed everyone who moved past them, looking for any sights of Anti-Kingdom propaganda..perhaps it would lead him closer to his targets.
Little balls of tech fused with magic - arcane eyes - the Scrybots scurried across the tops of buildings, occasionally floating and focusing on random events. Intel thought it was the best way to keep an eye on the underlings...without actually having to have boots down here.
Ishi stops and surveys the surroundings in the business district, "just how big is this place..." he mutters, under his breath.
Christmas came two days early. This is incredible news and I'm very excited to hear it.
Adam:
1.) What are your thoughts on dragons in the Shadowrun universe? And might it be possible that they might pop up in the show ever in some fashion?
2.) Are Deckers allowed? Do you have any concerns over how they will change the group dynamic? I know some GMs don't allow them and others have concerns and issues with having Decker player characters.
I believe, if I am not mistaken, this is a situation where the precedent was set in the 4 previous editions. While Shadowrun 5th, is terribly edited and maybe not as well play tested as it should have been heavy weapons and longarms have traditionally been two handed weapons. I believe its specifically intended to prevent people from saying, "Uuuuh, I wanna use two heavy machine guns. I r troll."
http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/discussion/34401/how-many-hands-for-guns/p1
Rogue Trader is about being a space pirate basically. It's part of the Dark Heresy ruleset and is a general extension of the 40k universe.
You could also modify Shadowrun to work similarly if the cyberpunk theme is more your flavor.
Thanks a lot for that, very helpful.
6 Is a huge difference to how I thought it would be, that makes a big big difference. Ok back to the drawing board a bit.
Found this thread http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/discussion/27989/mystic-adepts-what-the
which says the same thing. Good to know, almost made a big mistake :D.
For 2/ It was more about when they decide to go away due to when all the services being fulfilled. Just wanted confirmation that cast this spell, and sustain it until sundown/rise was one service, as opposed to cast this spell and sustatin it until all the other services are gone.
For 5/ it was more about if for example the viewer fails to resist the magic to see through the physical mask do you have to roll impersonation as well. At that point you have someone who looks like Bob, and sounds like Bob. If you just walk past you think it is bob, but if you talk to them at length? I guess impersonate like disguise is moot if you have
Will take one rank of voice control anyway, as the spell might not always be the best way, and getting more powerpoints will take a LONG time, and it could be useful.
Anyway that helped a lot, almost there, just need to write some background, think of a name and put it all together.
They are terrible at updating it. What were you looking for about bullets and bandages?
http://www.shadowrun.com/shadowrun-tabletop/
The above site is pretty good about your current iteration updates. As for a complete sourcebook listing try the Shadowrun Wiki. Its a fair tool to a point.
I can't seem to find that one.
Edit.
Ok, I googled it and found it on the shadowrun forums...
...this is cool! Thanks for bringing this up.
I love love love love it!!! I read Snow Crash, then Diamond Age, then I moved on to the Nueromancer series. All of it, it loved! Diamond Age was definitely my favorite. I'm actually reading another series by Stephenson, though its not cyberpunk.
William Gibson is awesome, not to mention that so many things were inspired by his writing. I've read somewhere that the term 'microsoft' was first written by him.
What other cyberpunk have you read, and is there anything you would recommend?
Have you played Shadowrun Returns? Its a videogame that was funded by kickstarter. It was originally a D&D type tabletop game, I believe. I would have preferred if they stuck to keeping it strictly cyberpunk, but the game ties a cyberpunk setting to some fantasy elements as well. So the world you play in is entirely cyberpunk, but when you make your character you can choose from human, elf, troll, orc, etc. It definitely has fantasy elements but in a really awesome cyberpunk setting. When I played I could pull out elements that I had read in Stephenson & Gibson's work.
Here is a link if you wanted to read about the game setting: http://www.shadowrun.com/what-is-shadowrun/
The safest bet would be to create content aimed at the live version 1.1.2. If you create content in the Beta 1.2.0, it should be able to run in version 1.1.2 unless you are using content or triggers added in the Beta. To see more information about the Beta see this thread.
No matter what you do it would be a good idea to state what version you are aiming for.
They've released some short fiction for SRO.
But aside from the small handful of things they're released on Shadowrun.com, I don't think there is much on the current state of Boston.
BTW this documentation link at the old shadowrun.com forums has been dead a while, do you happen to have a copy of the vanished official guide to all this? I really need that reference eventually.
https://web.archive.org/web/20180228211255/http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/discussion/26577/recreating-sega-genesis-shadowrun They were going to make a sega version and everything about it got deleted... My guess is SNES bought them out. Probably why they wont make one on their workshop either I bet its banned.
This is the diff between me and you. You are lazy and want others to do stuff for you. I can do stuff for myself. The evidence is in our comments back and forth. You just whine and cry about stuff and prove it.
Its still fantasy. There are Orcs and Trolls and Dragons and Magic. Just imagine D&D jumping ahead roughly 1000 years.
Your group is likely going to be made up of a Street Samurai or two (Tanks, Warriors), a Mage, and a Decker/Hacker (Rogue).
Since Shadowrun doesn't have specific Classes, there's often overlap. The person with the highest Charisma is usually the Face, the contact person and negotiator like a Bard. That could be any of your players.
There's no quick healing in Shadowrun. Death is meant to be permanent but you can run your world however you like. Maybe your characters can upload their thoughts into the Matrix ("the singularity") and just download them into a new body. Whatever you like. Just like D&D, this is your world.
There aren't experience points because there aren't any levels. Your PCs' earn Karma which they can spend on improvements.
This is an 87 page "primer" from Shadowrun.com
Hope it helps!
It's super weird hearing all of this, and being someone who just recently got into the Shadowrun setting for games, and then seeing what some people in the 80's thought the US map would look like in 2070, and we're almost there.
I came across this UGC in the making on the Shadowrun forums, sounds interesting / ambitious
So, here is the thing, it hasn't gotten better. EVERY book since the core book as had basic quality control issues.
Like ready? their main page doesn't have any details that they just released a new game.
I will dig around for some details on how many people put those things together I mentioned after the podcast stuff.
Terraria is an everything game. They have everything ranging from fantasy to sci-fi.
Also, I am a fan of magic in space settings. I totally want to be a techno-wizard. Have you heard of the pen and paper rpg Shadow Run? Well they also have some video games too. It's pretty rad.
"Coyote's meant to follow Raven's rules, yes. The two were similar enough we didn't want to publish rules for them separately, and waste page space, basically."
Lazy, lazy, lazy, Critias .... ;)
Harebrained Schemes doesn't have their own forum for the games, but they have some on the Shadowrun Universe site, which covers the HBS games, the P&P games and SR Chronicles. Here's a link to the SRR "Tech-corner" forums where you can make a thread about your bug.
I also heard they're active over on the games Steam discussion page here, so you could make a new topic there if you'd rather.
I haven't heard of Neurospasta. It looks like it's set up for 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons (we're on the 5th edition, now.) If you're interested in SciFi I'd strongly suggest looking into Shadowrun.
It's rules are different, but it's an older, higher-production, and incredibly popular game. When people talk about RPG's they often list D&D, Warhammer, Call of Cthulhu, and Shadowrun. Are you interested in a game that mixes fantasy and science fiction (elves and orcs but with lasers) or are you more partial to just the scifi? If you're leaning towards the latter, I have tons of games to suggest looking into.
This is the closest I could find to my question, and it ends with someone saying that everything they need to know is google-able.
I'll continue googling and trying to piece things together, but I'm sure there's a link out there somewhere that compiles a list of everything you need, and need to know to start a game.
I'm not asking for someone to painstakingly take the time from their day to explain the intricacies of this to me, but merely give me a list of info that will explain everything I need to know as someone who has no experience.
Here are some links from other forums where this has been discussed. There are more, even some with catalyst writers chiming in if you keep searching. As you'll see, you had the jist of it correct.

Apparently they do. Might try it out later to confirm, but right now I'm in a hurry.
Edit: Just to confirm, it looks like it worked. Transferred my autosave from Steam to Nexus 7 and was able to load it.
Mostly, yes. If you're not expecting a $100 million open-world MMO.
The trailer gives a good glimpse at some of the action, plus it'll have larger social hubs.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_E46DUssoPI
As their forum rep, Soundrel, put it:
"The thing is that we didn't change much about the original concept we proposed (though of course we discovered things in development that had to change and as most of you will know we changed quite a lot of our game due to feedback). It just became clear that using the term MMO to describe SRC was controversial due to the heavily instanced nature of the game that only allowed to interact with all players on the server using the chat, but to play only with a select group (of currently still 2), which for some is on the "is an MMO" side, for others isn't. That's why we decided not to market SRC as an MMO anymore.
Instead we prefer to just list the relevanant features and let the players decide themselves which category Shadowrun Chronicles falls in for them:
Multiplayer Hub for you and your runner group Multiplayer meeting areas for players to mingle All players play on one server. instanced missions for up to 4 players collective actions of all players move forward the story
but you can just play it in full single player all by your lonesome (if you ignore the chatter from the chat) as well and never be bothered with other people and play it like a Shadowrun Returns meets X-Com."

I was a little confused about whether spending an edge to reroll removes the limit. Do you have a page number for that? I couldn't make sense of what it says in the book, so I went with what it says in this post from the dev-blog. Specifically what it says in the third to last paragraph that starts: "One of our guiding principles . . ."
I would imagine that the Fog Spell has the same mechanics as the Smoke Bomb. See here http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/discussion/33117/anyone-tested-and-confirmed-how-smoke-grenades-work/p1 for a discussion on it. Still it is unclear if you shoot from or into the edge of the fog/smoke what happens. Bad documentation I'd say.
As I understand it from what I've read around, sneaking was a feature they never got through implementing. Still, it is bizzare that they should leave all those items in the game. Thought they would've removed them for the Director's Cut. Maybe they still have some use and they left them there for the use of modders and custom campaigns. But why would they be available in shop? Don't know really.
I finished Shadowrun Returns for iPad and had a good time, so I'm excited to see the sequel Dragonfall go live for iPad; they were predicting it for October 2014 http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/discussion/38323/release-date-for-dragonfall-on-the-ipad/p1
I'm really not sure. I've never played with anyone except my group of friends in town. This came up with a Google search, but as far as personal experience I'm afraid I'm not much help.
The wiki that /u/Nettleberry linked has lots of great info. If you have specific questions, the folks at the modding forum are very helpful.
From my own experience creating mods, the major things that you can't do are:
Add new 3D character models
Modify existing 3D character models
Add new 3D models for weapons
Create new animations
Add custom sound effects or music
So, with weapons, for example, it's possible to create a new weapon that has new stats, but you have to pick one of the existing models to show on-screen.
Some of the existing information on the editor is outdated, since HBS has released an updated version to support their upcoming Berlin/Dragonfall expansion.
From my own experience, creating a branching plot is very doable in the editor, but a nonlinear or open world mod is extremely difficult. A few people have pulled it off for their mods, but the underlying engine really isn't designed for it and it tends to cause a lot of bugs.
Good luck, and have fun!
