Good to know! Thanks. Boycotting them by uninstalling the Accuweather app. Here's links people:
Android Accuweather play store (then click uninstall) iOS Accuweather
I like the accuweather one, but so many of them seem much-of-a-muchness it may be just own to personal preference:

See if you like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.accuweather.android&hl=en_US

Weather and clock widget looks like this one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.accuweather.android
Idk what speed dial app that is, but if you need that in, go to play store> my apps and games>library and scroll through all previously installed apps and see if it's listed, if it's not there it may have been removed from the store.
If you're on Android the app pretty explicitly asks your permission to use it. I'm not so sure about iOS (which the article is about).
> Location >> * approximate location (network-based) >> * precise location (GPS and network-based)
Taken from the Google Play Store page for AccuWeather with Superior Accuracy™ by AccuWeather. Click the "view details" link under the permissions section.
A neat thing to be aware of is if your device is on Android 6 or higher. Google started marking these permissions "Dangerous". (It doesn't mean that it's harmful inherently! "Dangerous" means the permission gives the app access to potentially sensitive data). What's neat is even if you download an app with declares it uses a dangerous permission, it now has to ask you explicitly to accept that permission while you're running it.
Personally, I like Accuweather. It's fairly accurate in real time, has good forecasts, a simple but effective widget, and a very cool precipitation feature with good accuracy in terms of location and timing. The only drawback is the radar takes a long time to load IMO, even on WiFi.
Out of all the ones I've tried, I've liked AccuWeather and MyRadar for the hyperlocal forecasts and radar features of DarkSky. I've tried pretty much all the other ones that are in the lists for DarkSky replacements and they either didn't have enough detail, or weren't very accurate
AccuWeather is available in the playstore. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.accuweather.android
If you mean that specific old widget then no it won't work unless it's in the same ROM it shipped with because it has dependencies that the APK needs to run.
for me, accuweather works very well. I bought the platinum version years ago when it was on sale for 0.99€.
It has great cross-platform-support and is even supported from the OS in some of the newer cars and can be synced to the dashboard via bluetooth.
I'm on android and I use the accuweather app. I spend a lot of time outside everyday and I really enjoy the app.
It's got a lot of data and the app format itself is nice. My biggest complaint is an add banner at the bottom.
AccuWeather is a great weather app.

I use Accuweather as my main weather application. The app is free and but has ads.
I believe it's this one.

I believe you can!
Depends what you're thinking about when you say a complication to launch another app, but there's two ways you can do this:
With an actual customizable complication where you assign an app shortcut (but it'll display an icon or text and won't look very good unless you hide the elements), or, alternatively as I've done it, invisible elements with actions assigned to them. The custom watch face linked above has an invisible element covering the left side that opens GPay so I can easily get ready to pay without having to go through the apps menu. The time elements also have actions on them that open Alarms, the date opens the calendar and the weather (which is a non-shortcut complication and can't have an action assigned directly) also has an invisible element on top of it that opens the weather app for more info.
So the two options are:
- Regular element (not complications) with an action assigned, invisible or otherwise. This can be a text element, an image, or anything else other than a complication, I believe.
- Complication with a regular invisible element (like a rectangle or ellipse) on top of it so that it mimics the concept and still allows you to display complication info, like the weather at the bottom of my example in the previous post.
A note: An action assigned to an element can open ANY app, and if it doesn't already exist on the watch, it'll open a prompt to install it. You need the "app id" which is basically the package name and which you can get easily from opening google play in a browser. Here's an example:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.accuweather.android
For the link above, the app id is "com.accuweather.android"
Also, it's really easy to work with if you ask me, after the initial confusing first time when you open it. It's a visual interface where you drag elements around, and after you connect your watch through WIFI, you can deploy it straight into the watch through "Run on Device". It gets send as an actual watch face which you can customize in the Wearable Companion App.
And it's fully free! That's an aspect that I find amazing and I'm surprised people would rather pay for Facer than use this, but perhaps Facer is more intuitive and user friendly. This one requires a certain level of technicality to get the hang of.
Let me know if you need help with anything else :)
Yes, it would be great if the Play Store on the watch (at least) would be able to search for complication provider apps. It is very hard to find complication providers currently, since, as you say, many watch faces mention the word "complication" because they can display complications.
Four of my apps provide watch face complications:
Other noteworthy complication apps I have found:
Background image providers:
I use AccuWeather.
My ZenWatch is also a gift from my girlfriend!
Here's my list of suggestions
AccuWeather - Weather at your fingertip
MyRoll Gallery - Wear Photo shows up to 10 photos per folder in free version. MyRoll shows all photos on your device on your watch.
Wear Mini Launcher - Best launcher on watch
Calculator For Android Wear - Because who don't want to calculate?
Shazam - Wear companion app allows you to identify music
Spin Then Slide - Fun little game on watch
Citymapper - Shows direction on watch
Microsoft Translator - Supports conversation-like translation, one using phone and the other using watch.
Krona Sunlight Watch Face - a glance lets you know immediately how the day will turn out and how the current conditions compare to same time tomorrow
Sleep as Android - Track your sleep with your watch (note: ZenWatch already comes with ZenFit that does a similar job)
Honorable mentions - WatchMaker / Facer / Pujie Black are 3 strong contenders for ultimate customization of watch faces
For me, these app are the best. I even install some of them to make sure im up-to-date with weather. haha

You can also get many other Weather apps from Play Store but i thing the above ones are really good. (You can see "real feel" temperature with Accu , that's nice)
I use AccuWeather platinum because I got it free off the Amazon appstore but the regular app should work fine
