There are some rules for playing YouTube videos, like the video should never play while not visible on the screen. Maybe your app broke some of those rules.

It is definitely allowed to play videos from the web, some very popular app do it, like this one.
stream is pretty good, but you can't use youtube with the screen off because youtube hates its users.
Stream has the added plus that there's no youtube ads. At all. The only ads are the Stream ads and they aren't nearly as intrusive or annoying as Youtube.
Here is the link on the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream

There are some decent ones. I like this one because I listen to music without ads. Except the VEVO ones. But the app itself does have bugs. But once you get the videos playing, it won't interrupt. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
Depending on what you want from a youtube app, I have a pretty decent alternative if you wanna listen to a playlist while doing something on another app. Stream it has a few ads but nothing super obnoxious and you can run it in a small window ontop of other apps.
It doesn't function like a true youtube app sadly, so no dislikes or comments on vids, but as a playlist I think it does a wonderful job.
Youtube is really taking the piss with its ads lately. 20 minute video about the new WoW expansion, ad every 3 minutes, often the same irritating, irrelevant ad over and over again. I really don't need a hair transplant, my hair is doing just fine, tyvm.
Ublock origin works like a charm on a desktop browser. But the YT app on Android is very protective of its adds. There's no way to block them afaik, but you can circumvent that by using a different app to watch the videos, like Stream:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
No (or at least blockable) ads and unlike YT it supports background playback. You'll have to do without the YT comments though, but I feel that's a small price to pay.
I couldn't find the exact part of their policy which points that, but I remember using a "floating Youtube player" app from Google Play Store that stated that the video must to be visible all the time/you could reduce the size of the player but it'd still be there (maybe this one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream)
I just got a Tab A a few months ago, I am absolutely in love with it. It's a really great weight and size (I have the 10.1, with the S pen) and the battery life is actually excellent, even if you weren't worried about that. I can't say for sure what the difference between the 9.7 and the 10.1 performance-wise is, though. The pressure sensitivity is wonderful and it has no issues running any of the programs I use.
Software is what really matters, though!! Since I have the one you're considering, I have these installed:
I own the paid versions for any that have them because it's only around $5 to buy, but I'm sure the ones that are free are fine too.
Anyway it's great for drawing and performs well. Sorry if I missed any of your questions!!
You are correct, Ads don't show on embedded videos.
Im assuming RedditSync embeds YouTube links Just like This app so you can play vids without ads and with background play features.

If you're on Android this app is a pretty good workaround. Also, the dev seems like a nice guy and hangs out on Reddit I believe.
don't use it i tried it too.. mintube is buggy... another user added the best one.. it's called 'stream'
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
it's super clean design and does the job :)
I've been using an android app called stream, works fine for watching youtube on a locked phone but takes up ~15% of the screen when its unlocked. If someone finds something better let me know.
Stream app lets you do this. It has lot of options apart from popup, resize it, you can signin into your account, add playlists, hell lot of features and developer is actively implementing new features.

Stream has just been publicly released and it's a floating popout player for youtube. Please note that because of the Youtube terms of service, Stream does not allow you to play the video will the screen is off :(
Here is the link to the Google play store: Stream.
Play anything--not just music--on youtube in the background.
Como não tenho o Youtube Premium, coloquei no Stream e estou ouvindo enquanto mexo no Reddit. Deu um vibe muito boa.
There is an app for that https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
As a Youtube replacement you could try SkyTube from F-Droid or [Stream | you can disable "music only"]. Both allow you to import your YouTube subscriptions but not to sign in. [Already mentioned in this thread: NewPipe]
Although it doesn't have YouTube you might find [Appscope | search] a good source for finding various Progressive Web Apps.
I use this app to keep vid playing:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
This on - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream But if you're rooted, you have an exposed module, in fact I'm using it right now while replying to you

Thanks found it.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
I also highly recommend this app, which pretty much accomplishes the same thing and the developer is awesome: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream&hl=en
I use
Stream
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
I didn't now why it isn't popular
Something similar happened to me. I'm using Stream now, you should try it.
How does it compare to Stream?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
Everything is available, not only music. It plays videos outside the app.
Try this for YouTube https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
This one's better https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.djit.apps.stream
Try this Android app it puts the youtube into a small window floating over the rest of your phone. You can't play with the screen turned off, but you can do other phone things. I use this A LOT. It hasn't been taken down and it's meant to show ad's still so I guess it complies.
Otherwise, you're using a free app/service. Go use another service if you don't like it. :p
Stream app lets you do this, it displays the video with a custom lock screen, so you can turn your screen of. It has lot of options apart from popup, resize it, you can signin into your account, add playlists, hell lot of features and developer is actively implementing new features.
Stream app does this, it also displays the video as a popup and also a feature of custom lock screen, so you can turn your screen off and play the video too. It has lot of options apart from popup, resize it, you can signin into your account, add playlists, hell lot of features and developer is actively implementing new features.
