Try ghostracer from the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
It has sound prompts (hmm not sure about hear rate though) but you can customize the watch screens (limited to 2 on the free version). Also supports strava segments.
It is in need of a redesign, but I've been using it since the sony smartwatch3 days.
I use Ghostracer for tracking runs, which lets you force watch GPS in the (phone app) settings, among lots of other great settings. It works great for me, though I find the GPS on my Huawei Watch 2 to be a bit disappointing in accuracy compared to my phone.
It uploads to Strava, which IMO is superior to Runtastic, but if you must use Runtastic there are third party services which can apparently sync between the two. I haven't used any so can't recommend them, though, but it might be worth looking into.
Jon how about gps use? Could you please throw ghostracer on it, run it for an hour in standalone mode, and see how much battery it uses?
Can't say a lot about the Google Maps performance yet, but if it gets blurry, it usually can't load the map data. You had your phone with you as well, right? You may have a look at Ghostracer, my absolute favorite app when it comes to hiking, but I think it could be great for cycling too. It also has offline map support and you can plan your route using GPX tracks.
On Android ghostracer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en lets you race against, a previous run also can submit runs to smashrun, strava and one other last time I looked.
In my experience, Ghostracer is the best for this. It runs standalone, and unlike Strava the display is very customisable.
It doesn't do much to present or analyse your stats, but it'll sync to Strava after your run (including heart rate) so you get the best of both worlds.
edit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Ghostracer is the best, in my opinion. The screens are very customizable.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
Not sure you can set intervals that way, but you could customize one of your hardware buttons to be a "lap" button so you can easily see the time for that segment of your workout.
I don't have my watch on me, but I know Ghostracer can use GPX files and it has a map feature on the watch. Unsure if it will show the GPX on the map.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
Edit: It lists "Race against or navigate with gpx files" as a feature, so I think it is supported.
Had the same question: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidWear/comments/4mccfi/hikingmap_app_that_can_display_a_gpx_track_on_the/
Ghostracer works very welll for me, but you have to configure it, to show a map on the watch. You need to export your trip as KML from Google My Maps, convert it to GPX and then copy it to the folder of Ghostracer. Then you can add this as a "Ghost" and set it for navigation only. If you configured Ghostracer to show a map on the watch you can see your current position in Google Maps along with the track you added. Works perfect and if you activate ambient mode in the app as well, then battery consumption is not too high. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Ghostracer recently added this option. I have a LG Urbane 2nd Edition and was able to track HR with the built in sensor. Not sure how accurate it was but it worked.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
I've used just about all of the popular apps. I've settled into Ghostracer. for tracking. It's austere but quite functional, and it auto syncs with Strava and Smashrun, which are both great run logging/data sites. Someday I'll upgrade to Smashrun premium. Someday...
In my case, I used Runkeeper but also encountered problems. I changed to Ghostracer and had the app upload the data of each run to RunKeeper.
Ghostracer and SGT both work straight between hrm and watch.
This app used to work. Strava has changed the API since I last messed with it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en_US
Many watches have GPS (and don't need to use a paired phone's GPS), recommend are the Fossil Sport, Misfit Vapor 2, Huawei Watch 2, Ticwatch Pro.
The Ghostracer app allows export of a recorded .gpx file.
Ghost Racer kind of supports structured workouts, but the audio queues aren't the greatest, so they can be hard to follow. I have used Chrono List (requires premium to run on the watch) to create intervals and it works pretty well. No V02max on any WearOS watch I know of. You can get Cadence and pace from your watch with Ghost Racer and it supposedly works with Stryd for running power, but I don't have one, so I can't say it works for sure. I've never used my watch for swimming, so I can't comment there. The biggest issue with cycling will be battery life with GPS running. Hopefully the "Sport" mode update for the 3100 chip will fix that problem in 2019.
Yes, but I would suggest checking out Ghostracer:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Since the LG Watch R doesn't have built-in GPS, you will need your phone to get GPS data. If you had a model with GPS (Moto 360 Sport, LG Sport, etc) then you could track without a phone nearby.
Are you a runner or cyclist? Have you tested the GPS accuracy at all?
Also, does it have a "Run Cadence" sensor? You can test by installing Ghostracer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en), starting the app, then swiping left one screen and selecting "Sensors". I believe the Quartz has a Barometer, so you should just see that in the list and maybe "Run Cadence"?
Assuming you have a 360 Sport with a GPS...for outdoors, Ghostracer is the best. Tons of customization and works really well:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
For inside, Moto Body (preinstalled, i think) has an indoor mode...but I have never used it.
If you don't have a Sport, I would try Moto Body for both.
Ghostracer is amazing. Logs run, has GPS and heart rate support. Can go for runs without your phone then auto upload to runkeeper or strava after. Pretty sure it's what you're looking for.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Have you seen/tried Ghostracer? The screens are customizable to add whatever fields you prefer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
If you do go the Androidwear (watch) route, there is the perfect app for you, and it's well supported by an independent dev: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
Ghostracer may be something that can do this for you. It allows you to define custom ghosts to race against or match in pace, or you can race against previous workouts and even strava segments. While I've only used custom ghosts for setting a single pace, similar to this, it looks like additional paces can be added at defined times (around :20 in the video there's a plus sign under the initial pace). Ghostracer isn't perfect, but it's by far the best standalone androidwear running app that I've tried.
To the best of my knowledge, Strava doesn't have an app with smartwatch support, so you need a separate app for it.
I use both Ghostracer and Strava myself.
GhostRacer sounds like what you are looking for
> Make every run and ride your best, train against virtual competitors in real time on your phone & Android Wear. •Race against Strava segments in real time. Beat your personal best or challenge the top of the leader board •Race against or navigate with gpx files •Ghosts Start and Stop automatically keeping you free to ride/run. •Receive live feedback with audio updates of split times and distance •Customise your display to show information you want to know •Segments and routes are displayed on Google maps keeping you going in the right direction •Upload your activity straight to Strava or export to a gpx file. •Ant+ and Bluetooth Low Energy (btle) sensors supported: speed, cadence, speed/cadence combined, power and heart rate monitors*
you could try Ghostracer, I'm not how/if it works without GPS, but it's always worth trying (on my SW3 it works like a charm without phone).
It supports android wear's heart rate sensors as well I think.
Join the beta tester community on G+ to get the newest release! :D
Can you give me the link? Only one I was able to found was one updated in August last year which means no Wear support.
EDIT: I think I found it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
No idea if you go running or cycling, but your SW3 can work as a standalone GPS tracker. I recommend using GhostRacer for that, it works like a charm :D
PS: Sony's SW3 is the only watch so far who has a GPS antenna
Is ghost racer still a thing? I used it on my sony smartwatch3, it syncs nicely with Strava, you could download segments and follow live progress with visual and audio cues. Pretty good.
I'm now a samsung active user and the strava app although simple, works fine, and was updated last July.
Here's a link to ghostracer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Hey, I just started running with my Carlyle and have a couple of thoughts.
It's amazing to run without my phone. Truly great. The watch itself is snappy and responsive.
GPS takes forever to get a lock in standalone mode (not connected to the phone) if you use something like Strava directly on the watch. Then I found Ghostracer. Oh boy, this makes it so much better! I get a GPS lock in less than a minute (less than that if it's had a previous location lock), and the GPS, Heart Rate and Cadence tracking all work without issue. When I get back home, it uploads to Ghostracer which can then be published to a couple of running platforms (Strava for me).
I also sideloaded the modified Spotify APK, which means I can use it for listening to offline music through bluetooth earphones. Ghostracer allows binding of the hardware buttons, so that if I want to skip a track, I just press the lower button on the watch. The resulting GPS file looks very accurate and Strava seems happy with it! If you have any questions feel free to give me a shout.
With all of the above running at the same time, I seem to lose battery at around 0.5-1% a minute, which isn't great, but I can accept it considering the watch is running a full Android App! Maybe using Google Play Music would be more optimised, but the convenience is too great for me.
Ghostracer (Android) can share to various third party cloud services but by default I don't believe it does.
I had this issue when I reset my TicWatch E recently. There before the test, unavailable after. I've installed Ghostracer instead now, and just linked my Strava account. Works way better as well.
The Fossil Sport is probably the best WearOS device for sport at the moment. More for the promise of software updates that will utilize the new features of the 3100 chip to enable much lower-power GPS tracking. Unfortunately, Google Fit still has a LONG way to go to be a useful fitness app. About the only part of Google Fit that really works well is the background all-day heart rate monitoring (not enabled by default).
Luckily, you're not stuck with just Google Fit and I highly recommend Ghost Racer for run/ride tracking. The WearOS app works well and looks decent. The phone app is not the prettiest, but it works and can automatically upload your workouts to Strava, SmashRun, and Run keeper.
Ghostracer. I haven't used it. The main purpose seems to be to compare your sessions to yourself, and, mainly, compete with others. It supports Ant+ and BLE sensors including cadence. It has the feature to "Export .gpx or tcx files" which is what you're looking for if I understand correctly.
For run/bike tracking: Ghostracer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer I bought both a Ticwatch S and a Huawei Sport 2 around black Friday. The Ticwatch S definitely has better GPS reception at the expense of the chunky & stiff non-replaceable band. The Huawei has NFC, ambient light sensor, 2 buttons with better placement, auto heart-rate monitoring, and a metal back. Since the main intent was to track my pace/distance and heart-rate and listen to music via my Bluetooth headphones while running without having to take my phone, I'm planning to keep the Ticwatch. If the GPS had been better, I would have kept the Huawei.
That answer is probably from some social media intern who is only reading what is on their spec sheet. It may not work with the built-in apps, but I'm absolutely positive it will work with Ghostracer as long as the strap is BTLE. I don't have any insight about the Samsung watches and BTLE straps.
Ghostracer is great: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
p.s. I don't have a RunIQ, not do I care if you get one. Just stating that a BTLE chest strap will work with pretty much any recent AW watch.
If Strava does not work for you, Ghostracer worked perfectly with my ANT+ HR sensor on my S7, and looks like it supports additional types of sensors.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
I use Ghostracer when running/cycling. You can create custom screens when training...so you could have a screen that has your current HR in gigantic numbers if you wanted. I have mine setup to display time/distance/total elevation gain/current heartrate and a clock. Check it out here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
If you aren't running/cycling, you might want to check out SGT:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pnn.android.sport_gear_tracker
You can set it up so you get notications when you hit your min or max heart rate.
Not sure what you are searching for, but I have posted about these topics many times.
For GPS: I would use Ghostracer or SGT
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pnn.android.sport_gear_tracker
For battery, do you have the screen set to always on? Turning that off should save you some battery. Turning off things like Moto Body or Google Fit (or other things that run in the background) should also help battery life.
Ah, it's using the SW3's GPS. Well I'm glad you were able to solve things!
Edit: If you're interested in a new app, I would try looking at Ghostracer, which offers a lot more options in terms of specifying what GPS to use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
Surprised I havent seen this comment yet but try Ghostracer. It's amazing. You can go for a run and leave your phone at home. Use Bluetooth earphones like Jaybirds, load a podcast onto the watch, and go!
Ghostracer tracks it all. It even has heart rate monitor support. You can customize screens with whatever info you like such as avg pace, current pace, laps, heart rate, distance, time, etc.
It can then upload to Strava or Runkeeper. I'd suggest exporting your map my run data to one of these apps and switching over, though you can use something like SyncMyTracks to copy the data across accounts if you don't want to switch.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
You should look into using ghostracer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
It allows you to customize the info display and apparently works with the heart rate monitor on the sport.
Just a heads up, all articles I've seen have stated that PPG is mostly useless for fitness purposes. You will need a Bluetooth heart strap..
Ghost runner is used for GPS tracks mainly, but can apparently be used with pedometers, etc. It syncs back to Strava and such, and is the first decent app I found (at least for GPS). Some other apps I tested lost the tracks I saved intermittently..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
You can connect a bluetooth HR monitor directly to the watch and track your running using an app like GhostRacer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
Ghostracer and SGT
Aggravating that google didn't put a clock on the timer screen like with keep.
Ghostracer has that and is a standalone app on wear.
Ghostracer does this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Yes, there are several running apps that utilize the watch GPS.
I use Ghostracer myself.
For running, Ghostracer is great:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
For strength training, check out YouMove or Exercise Tracker: Wear Fitness
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sensorkit.youmove
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vimo.co.seven
Or get an LG Sport...the Google Fit app on the Sport can track strength training reps and heart rate. On other watches, it can only track push-ups, sit-ups & squats.
p.s. Sports Gear Tracker may also be helpful for strength training. It will track your heart rate and you can set alerts for upper/lower limits:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pnn.android.sport_gear_tracker&hl=en
Ghostracer is great and syncs to Strava!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
If you haven't tried it, I would suggest using Ghostracer instead:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Ghostracer is my favourite stand alone tracking app. Also uploads to Strava. Ghostracer
I used ghostrunner before I had a Garmin: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Ghostracer is the best, I think. It syncs with Strava, SmashRun & Runkeeper.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
The GhostRacer app for Android allows you to set poll/recording frequency: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
I use Ghost Racer. It cost money, but has lots of customizable features and I've had no sync problems.
You could try Ghost racer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Ghostracer can also do this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=de Resetting will take two swipes and two clicks though.
I would highly recommend Ghostracer and sync it to Strava:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Thanks!
FYI if you haven't already, check out ghostracer
You mean Ghostracer.
Can confirm this is my exact running set up with bluetooth headphones.
I just use Ghostracer. You can add your own GPX tracks and you can also use offline maps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
I didn't see ghostracer referenced; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en_US works a bomb for me. I'm also a Strava subscriber but I prefer ghostracer.
Ghostracer - pairs with Bluetooth HRM straps and can upload (not sure about auto) to Strava.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
I don’t have experience with Garmin, but if you’re going for a smartwatch (lower battery life for more functionality), I wouldn’t recommend a Samsung/Tizen watch if you also would like apps for your watch. I switched from Tizen OS to Wear OS and find it tons better for my needs: tons of apps including Nike, native Google services on board including Google Fit and Assistant, and will say that most runners prefer the Wear OS app Ghost Racer over all the others.
You should also check out the phone app SyncMyTracks for synching between a bunch of different platforms both ways (with the exception of Fitbit, I think, which only syncs from but not to Fitbit). I used it to move all my data over when I switched from Nike to Endomondo for a while, and to sync between Endo, Nike and Fit for a few years after.
Another advantage of Wear OS watches is the sheer choice you have in styles and brands - you are not at Samsung’s mercy for hardware upgrades or software updates, which is spotty and fragments the sad app store even more, because some apps will only work with some versions of Tizen OS. The current Wear OS models all come with GPS, NFC for GPay, BT to stream music, audio books and podcasts to your BT headset, Wifi, and most are swimproof*****. I’m currently using the gen 5 Fossil Juliana and still swapping between it and my gen 4 Explorist, which is awesome but is missing the speaker and has less RAM.
***** Google has not yet enabled native swim tracking through Google Fit on Wear OS. Leaving this here in case Google ever cares to check this sub, grrrr. *****
More info on r/WearOS, but be aware that that sub has Samsung/Tizen lovers on it who will try and sway people to Samsung over Wear OS (starting to believe they are Samsung plants).
Good luck!
ghost racer will do Strava, SmashRun and Runkeeper....not the ones you're looking for I know.
C'è anche questa che permette di fare programmi del genere: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
HW2 and Ghostracer is a great combination!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
Not sure, but Ghostracer will...which syncs to Strava, but has way more features than the official app!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer
I would suggest checking out Ghostracer:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
Have you tried Ghostracer?
you said ghost*rider*, do you have the right app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
supposedly this is a great app for tracking runs
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
Use GhostRacer. Does the job for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en_GB
