I have this TV Remote app, you'd just get within reasonable vicinity of a TV, put in minor info like Brand (Which is easily seen from the front typically) and it would start scanning for the model #'s to function. Once it found them, you'd have full access to the TV; Volume, Settings, Channels, everything. The whole process of hijacking the remote took about 30 seconds at best.
THAT would be a hilarious yet effective way to get back at them. Have people download those remote apps and then travel around to these unwatched screens, change them to a competitor, then leave.
if the Majority of CNN's ratings come from those unwatched screens... can you imagine the hit they'd take in viewership if those were hijacked.
It might be this [link]
It installed itself on my phone a few days ago and I got rid of it because it kept showing up in annoying places and I never used it. It seems to have good reviews though, so maybe give it a shot if you need it.
There have been a TON of posts about this. It's an app called <strong>Peel Smart Remote</strong> - it allows you to use your phone as a remote control for your TV (once you set it up which should only take 2 minutes).
You can uninstall the app, or go into the app's settings and disable the widget (floating button on the lock screen).
In my experience, use peel for IR blaster. Works at least for my Mi4s, and my relatives' Mi4 and Redmi Note 3 Pro.
The official Mi Remote didn't work on that three devices.
Most Android smartphones nowadays have a universal remote function. Just download an app like Peel Smart Remote and configure it to the brand of TVs they use.
Everyone else is giving your manufacturer apps.. That shit is stupid.
Peel Smart Remote works with any phone with an ir blaster. It isn't the best, but it has a notification panel widget and it works with all of my stuff (TV, sound bar, cable box, etc.).
Found the culprit:
I have no recollection of installing this shit but now I've uninstalled it.
I'm leaving this post for others with the same problem. Could be interesting to know how this POS found it's way onto my HTC.
After HTCs official remote app for the m8 went under they recommended peel smart remote. I don't use it heavily but it's been very reliable for me and it also helps that it's free
Assume you don't have a samsung galaxy, LG G2, or HTC One right? They have IR blasters on them and can replace any remote- I use the app Smart Remote and it works great for all my home stereo stuff.
If I understand correctly, it was just the Pell Smart Remote wrapped up in a HTC package. Check out Peel - its got the TV guide and everything.
They probably canceled it to save money - less development they had to do, especially when there's a perfectly good alternative out there.
[link] this can be used? I'm sorry if cannot help.
Peel remote and irplus. For capture+, I don't know.
There are also android apps you can use. I like the Peel remote ([link]) but there are several.
Just download it from the playstore: [link]
That is the original I think.
Ima neki Peel ako pričamo o Androidu ([link])
I use the Peel Universal Remote TV Guide which was the replacement for the HTC TV app. Works pretty well.
I think peel smart remote is something for you. Never used it myself because i don't have an IR blaster on my phone.
Peel is the standard one on the Samsung devices.
They killed WatchOn. And rightly so, it was atrocious.

If you've got cm13, Peel is a pretty good choice.
Here's the link. Let me know if it works for you.
