In case anyone else is an idiot and had to look up what an RJ45 is, it's apparently the plug thing at the end of an ethernet cable. See here
He's clearly read "How To Win Friends and Influence People". This sounds like a revelation to people who have not. To us others, not really. I recently got a full tour of Basic. Despite how "soft, and fluffy" you think it is the Airman in training there still act the same:with respect and pride.
It's been proven numerous times in many human behavior studies. People learn better in positive environments. Positive reinforcement. Recruiters find people qualified to join. MTI's get those people to military standards. NCO's mold and guide. Don't blame it on the MTI's. Do your part. I hate hearing people whine "...but it was soooo much harder when I went in. Me me me. What about myyyyyy* experience?" So fucking what. You should be HAPPY that the current shit is better than what we had, and there are new, improved methods. And yeah, while you were getting your ass constantly chewed out by SrA Ohl, and "learning the REAL way", SrA/XSgt was also sexual assaulting the fuck out of a trainee a squadron or flight away.
To me, complaining about Basic now is like a Vietnam vet being salty that opposed to his homecoming, one of hate, the ones we get are to the arms of a grateful nation, discounts, and fanfare. YOU are not special. Your gripes are not unique. Guys before you thought you had it easy too and that will always happen.
Down vote me to hell. I don't care.
Taking this opportunity to shill my favorite AFSOC/JSOC book, just for the sake of you folks unaware of John Chapman.
I wouldn't call all of these 'leadership books' per se, but this is what's currently on my bookshelf at work that I hand out to those looking for something interesting to read.
Switch - Dan Heath Leaders Eat Last - Simon Sinek Scaling Up Excellence - Huggy Rao Extreme Ownership - Leif Babin The Talent Code - Daniel Coyle The Tipping Point - Malcolm Gladwell David and Goliath - Malcolm Gladwell Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell The Power of Habit - Charles Duhigg Making Habits, Breaking Habits - Sean Pratt Brilliant Blunders - Mario Livio Ghost Wars - Steve Coll Don Quixote - Miguel de Cervantes

Is where we started once we realized we were serious. Chaplin does pre-martial counciling, some Chaplin’s even require it if you’re considering getting married on base.
Marry up. So up infact if she joined she’d out rank you in no time. So up that she’d be an officer by the time you put on tech and had two kids, if she wanted. And if she’s not, never let her think she isn’t capable of it.
Accept that marriage is a marriage of families. Also, crazy breeds crazy.
Never be unwilling to make at least a meal a day, help the kids when she needs a break, and clean up that meal. (You may not get a chance later)
Also, it helps if you marry a military brat that knows exactly what their getting into, and your first duty station is Hawaii for 6 years... but it’s totally the book and the marry up thing.
Also, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM SOCIAL MARKETING
He's made the same flawed argument for years. He even wrote a 2014 book on the topic.
BLUF: his premise is flawed and he doesn't understand the theory and practice of airpower.
His argument follows from a false premise: air forces became independent because airpower alone could create decisive strategic effects, winning wars without ground or naval forces.
Giulio Douhet (1896-1930) made this argument a century ago but it was always a minority view. The Strategic Air Command (SAC) came close to being a strong proponent, but they equated "strategic" with "nuclear" and limited their arguments to Cold War nuclear strategy. It was never shared in the tactical and air defense communities.
He argues having independent air forces prevents effective coordination of ground and air forces, but I'm sure anyone with experience coordinating close air support (CAS), or working in the relevant cells of an Air & Space Operations Center (AOC) would disagree.
The Goldwater–Nichols Act of 1986 transferred operational planning from the individual services to joint commands, addressing this over three decades ago. I served in Iraq from 2008-2009, helping in part to coordinate airpower with multi-service (and multi-national) special operations forces. All services seamlessly worked side-by-side.
There are some good cultural reasons for retaining separate air forces. I will never be tasked with leading a squad of Airmen to take a hill from the enemy. My job supporting airpower is different, the professional expectations are different. The mindset for fighting a tactical ground battle with the enemy is different from ensuring that aircraft and aircrew are mission ready.
There are other arguments. These are just the first that come to mind.
I actually kind of love that. If I went to squadron Christmas parties, I would probably wear that.
Edit: For anyone considering actually buying it, the company gets horrible reviews, bummer. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.holidayfury.com
Edit 2: Man, that site is just scummy all around. The countdown timer and "Only X left" thing are random and just fluctuate up and down to make you feel like you have to order quickly.
It's a $5 Casio watch that is/was sold at the shoppettes and hasn't changed design in 30+ years. Somebody posted a BMT video from the 80's recently and I saw a few of those watches in it.

And it's not the one in the picture above.
>The two B-2 bombers flew a round-trip mission of about 34 hours from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and dropped satellite-guided bombs on the training camps, military officials said.
Do something like that and put "Future Airman",
When they go to BMT, they're technically trainees and noy airman till they graduate. Not many moms support their children going off to serve (at least not initially) less so if it's the daughter.
You're a wonderful mother.
I searched a bunch online and read a lot of reviews before picking these. These are Gildan 5000 heavy cotton tees in "brown savana" and I bought them here for $15 (5 pack)
Despite the name, they are not super thick, in fact they feel like regular tees to me, which I like. The tags have that easy rip, and I'm happy with them. Hopefully this helps a fellow airman use as little of their beer allowance on clothing as possible.
As a Comm guy, I'd recommend checking out Private Internet Access. It's probably the best VPN program out there. Costs about $40/year and you can use it on everything. They have smartphone/tablet apps, configs for anonymous torrenting, and of course a program for your PC. Unlimited use too; once you have an account, you can use it on all your devices.
The only bad side is that it doesn't work in Korea anymore, as of 22 Jan 18. They discovered that the South Korean law enforcement were planning on mirroring their servers on 24 Jan 18 without due process, so they shut down all service to the country to protect users' browsing data.

This is the one I have for mine - my first degree after failing and dropping out of college so it was and is a pretty important milestone for me to get any kind of degree. Using it now to get two years off of my bachelors 😃
This is why I love being Guard. I guarantee that once we get OCPs I'll be able to get away with wearing this patch or any morale patch. Shit, my supervisor has a custom name tap for his that reads "FUKITIMGUARD" that he frequently gets away with wearing on the flightline.
Then just take it back to the her and explain it to her. Finance is the most incompetent group in the Air Force, as my favorite JTAC explains here, so it often helps me to get their extension when I deal with things like this, just for continuity but mainly for my satisfaction. Danzilla had a good idea with the crayons. I'd suggest highlighting your reg and letting her read it for herself. Actually, she probably wouldn't understand. I think you're going to need to make it into a children's book, sit her down on the couch with at least 3 feet in between you IAW SARC standards, and read her what you need.
Luckily, I'VE GOT YOU COVERED
I've kind of lost faith in the CSAF list. They aren't actually books the CSAF has read but books recommended by people on the Air Staff that he endorses.
The Band of Brothers wasn’t even the Band of Brothers. I joined the Army and became a paratrooper because that’s what I wanted. But BoB is a book written 50-years after the events through a haze of nostalgia and sold as hero worship of ‘The Greatest Generation’. One of the best books on the Afghanistan War I’ve ever read actually takes a shot at BoB as it’s inaccurate representation of the military in general and combat infantry in specific.
My guess is it will be this:

Just because you receive information from an outside source doesn't mean you can use it as grounds for punishment. Is the source reputable? Are they telling the truth? At best, it's hearsay. At worst, it's slander.
Here's a slideshow that should outline it fairly well. Basically, all DoD service members are subject to HIPAA because health information is protected information and classified as PII. This is outlined in AF 33-332.
Specifically regarding military involvement with HIPAA, Commanders have a program called Military Command Authority which allow them access to dictate general health and fitness requirements to see if a person is "fit to serve." (i.e. Mental Health, problems with alcohol, etc.)
So in other words, the commander can look at this information and use it as needed, if they feel the need to do so. However, Technical Sergeant dipshit is not a commander, and thus would be violating HIPAA if they used this information as grounds for punishment.
Hell, who knows. Maybe I'm wrong and some JAG or Paralegal will come in here and blast my ass back to wrongsville.
But I do know this information and have some experience with it because when I write stories about hospitalized individuals, regardless of if it was current or five years ago, the individual has to grant me permission to use their medical information.
Here's the link for the show on Amazon, you can watch it if you have prime. The YouTube link above is to an unrelated documentary. Episode one shows Kabat trying to beat the 1.5 mile record, about 15 minutes into episode three is when he gets in trouble.
Strongly recommend finding his radio show locally or online and listening to it daily or whenever you can. It's a call-in show where he takes one call after another with people in situations like yours and walks them through how to solve the problem one step at a time. Has a special segment where people call in and tell their story of how they got out of debt and then scream "I'M DEBT FREE" and he plays Braveheart and everything. It sounds cheesy but it gets you really fired up and motivated. PEP INTENSIFIES
Seriously though its really good stuff. It shows you that there are a lot of people in your position and a lot get out by some basic discipline and creativity. Hearing lots of stories and lots of solutions changes your perspective. He has books and Financial Peace University which is a great course we took through a local church. We aren't very religious really at all but it was nice to spend an evening each week in a roundtable discussion with other people focused on the same goals sharing tips and ideas. He also discusses other great books like The Millionaire Next Door which is a comprehensive study (a serious academic study) of the backgrounds, habits and lifestyles of millionaires. TLDR of the book is that most are first-generation self-made, work hard, have a high income job in a low-cost area, live modestly, and have great supporting spouses.
BTW if you have $2k in savings you are way ahead of like 50% of the country already -- most would have trouble paying a $400 bill.
If your AFSC doesn't travel doesn't mean that you can't.
https://www.kayak.com/explore/WAS?budget=501
Set you budget, select your times. Stop blowing your leave to stay in your local area. So far I've been at a different city once a month for past 2 years just by doing Fri-Sun trips.
We just have "family tree" type powerpoint documents like this quick google search that we need to submit to the CSS every month even if nothing has changed. They're a pain in the ass to format but usually we only have to change out one of two names. CSS manages organizing them into a master recall roster.
This was the brand. I either got the 12" or 14". The bigger the better lmao
Wasn't done to me, but I actually wrote a short book from the perspective of one of our Airmen for his birthday. It's about how to assimilate into human culture as a robot and how to prepare for the robot uprising. It's available on Amazon and we gave him a copy for his birthday plus free ebooks for his family.
If the program you're trying to use is a torrent program, use a VPN. South Korea throttles bandwidth for torrenting. I use Private Internet Access (about $40 a year) and connect to Japan. Im at Osan too and this was the fix for me
If this
>Switch - Dan Heath
>Leaders Eat Last - Simon Sinek
>Scaling Up Excellence - Huggy Rao(etc.)
is what you were going for you have to hit enter one extra time between each line, so instead of Switch - Dan Heath [enter] Leaders Eat Last - Simon Sinek, it should be Switch - Dan Heath [enter][enter] Leaders Eat Last - Simon Sinek.
Alternatively, if you want it to look like this
>Switch - Dan Heath
Leaders Eat Last - Simon Sinek
Scaling Up Excellence - Huggy Rao(etc.)
you can instead put Switch - Dan Heath [space][space][enter] Leaders Eat Last - Simon Sinek. So if you do it that way the list comes out like this:
Switch - Dan Heath
Leaders Eat Last - Simon Sinek
Scaling Up Excellence - Huggy Rao
Extreme Ownership - Leif Babin
The Talent Code - Daniel Coyle
The Tipping Point - Malcolm Gladwell
David and Goliath - Malcolm Gladwell
Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell
The Power of Habit - Charles Duhigg
Making Habits, Breaking Habits - Sean Pratt
Brilliant Blunders - Mario Livio
Ghost Wars - Steve Coll
Don Quixote - Miguel de Cervantes
^Also ^if ^I'm ^not ^supposed ^to ^do ^this ^I'm ^really ^sorry.
I have no idea why you are getting downvoted. Probably people who have never been there. If it's 35 F with 85% humidity with winds averaging 10 mph it can be bone chilling. It's a different type of cold than 5 F, 0 humidity, and no winds.

The Academy does not have online courses that I know of. That would kind of defeat the purpose of going to the Academy.

This isn't that good of a list. Most of the commands here are universal to the entire Office suite and most major software programs.
Here is the complete list, a little less pretty, from Microsoft. https://support.office.com/en-nz/article/Keyboard-shortcuts-in-Excel-2010-20603861-42b6-4c93-82ec-66924ea9b323

If you are concerned about the hose, just pick up a black cloth sheath from amazon for about $20. You may be able to find a cheaper one but i wasnt going to look too hard. Some might give you strange looks for the blue hose but not sure, never dealt with or seen it. As dar as the camelback goes, it seems like it would just be treated as a backpack.
Don't use Hotspot Shield or Hola. Most people who know things know the end points of those connects. Hola is even worse because it make YOU and endpoint and signifigantly reduces your security...which is the point of a VPN. Any that are pay are well worth their salt, regardless of their brand. Look for one that keeps no logs (I like , they're cheap and no logging) but I use VyperVPN and it's client will automatically choose the fastest server. If you just need a US IP address, I'd recommend StrongVPN. I used them to stream Hulu and Netflix from Djibouti just fine. You'll need to know the basics of how to set them up, but it's easy and they have instructions. StrongVPN will let you choose which server you connect to (they all do really) and you can pick the fastest US exit point when you need it.

Once again, you're absolutely wrong here.
https://www.webmd.com/depression/guide/major-depression#2
What Triggers Major Depression?
Some common triggers or causes of major depression include:
-Loss of a loved one through death, divorce, or separation -Social isolation or feelings of being deprived -Major life changes -- moving, graduation, job change, retirement -Personal conflicts in relationships, either with a significant other or a superior -Physical, sexual, or emotional abuse
Major Depression (also called Clinical Depression) has many causes and contributing factors, quite a few of which are external. Alleviating/eliminating one or more of those causes or contributing factors can absolutely have a huge effect.
Holy Cow someone posted in the AF subriddit.... anyhow
I'll skip over Lackland and Sheppard as they were Tech Schools. If you want details about them I can provide it.
Altus AFB Oklahoma - AETC Training base: C-17A's & KC-135R's
About 3 hours from a real city or anything to do other then drink at a local bar. No real mission to speak of other then training. No TDY's just deployments.
RAF Lakenheath - 48th Fighter Wing - F15C/D/E & HH60's - Fast paced with little downtime. Lots to do and see during off times. Lots of TDY's throughout Europe. Bring a passport if you want to leave England.
RAF Mildenhall - 100th ARW - KC-135R - M/C-130H - Never sleeps, 24/7 non-stop operations supporting USAFE. Lots of heavy airframes coming through. Ten minutes from RAF Lakenheath. TDY's abound.
Spangdahlem AB - 52nd Fighter Wing- F-16CJ A/OA-10 - Training base when daylight only operations. 24/7 AMC operations for Ramstein AB overflow. Moderate to light operations, offers several TDY's a year. Lots of WWI & WWII battlefields within 30 minutes drive time. Some of the best castles in Europe located close by. Hills all around make winter driving there very dangerous. High heat during summer in buildings with no air conditioning make life uncomfortable at times.
Ramstein AB - 86th Airlift wing - USAFE HQ - AFRICOM HQ - Busy Busy Busy - Major hub - C-130J plus fleet of smaller A/C - Best BX in the military located here. No far from Frankfort and 1 1/2 hours from Spangdahlem. Lots to do in the area.
Use Lightweight Portable Security on a thumb drive. There is nothing to configure aside from booting from the USB.

As an A1C, let me give you the best advice I can.
if you are not 100% committed to marrying your girlfriend for reasons OTHER than a PCS/BAH, DO NOT DO IT!
I have struggled with relationship issues from getting married too early. My wife and I have gotten past it, but man, have we had some rough spots, one which got me locked in a mental hospital for 2 days.
You do have several options:
Marriage is a huge commitment, even with a justice of the peace marriage. Please give this the consideration it deserves.
But to answer your questions:
Check out the base education center for more information on colleges in the area: http://new.jbleforcesupport.com/langley-education-center/ or search for colleges in the area with the programs she is interested in.
For medical, as long as her PCM were to give her the appropriate referral, Tricare will pay for most things (except cosmetic, i.e. breast implants, tummy tuck; and they also will not cover IVF, FYI)
I just ordered it, but glad to hear it’s a good read.
For anyone interested, here is the Amazon link
Have you thought about getting some Russian cockroaches and have them fight it out Stalingrad style?
On a serious note, roaches are a way of life in the south so "just sticking it out and doing my diligence to de-roach the place as well as keep the apartment on it as well (replacing some weather strips, caulking cracks, etc.)" is probably your only real play.
LPT: Once you've got situation under control, get some Borax, and a new, clean condiment bottle. Use it as a duster and gently spray Borax into cracks, crevices, and along any loose floor molding. Helps keep ants and roaches out of your apartment and should kill them even if they do get in.
Source: 10-years in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, & North Carolina. If you like the roaches, you're gonna love the fire ants! Best of luck.
In the meantime, what type of razor/shaving cream are you using? Since you have a problem, I'd bet its a multi-blade cartridge type razor, and some kind of canned gel shaving cream.
The multi-blade razors are the equivalent of making multiple (unnecessary) passes, causing irritation, and gels are full of alcohol and other shit that dries out your skin like crazy, also causing irritation.
Switch to a safety razor, and use shaving soap. It will make a world of difference. A single shaving soap puck will last close to a year (cost is only a few bucks- I like the Van Der Hagen
sold in every BX I've ever been in and a razor handle will run you $25-$35ish try the Edwin Jagger on Amazon
Pick up a sample pack of blades, to decide what you like, and shaving irritation disappears forever.
I doubt it's been tampered with, but that's still a little sketch. I would return it (should be free with Amazon), and get another one.
This is the one that I got, came packaged.
NordVPN is probably the best one all around for Dhafra, but I made do with a free VPN app on my tablet though. Then again, i just used that because I wasn't smart enough to get everything set up before I left.
Forgot some specifics: if you are headed out soon you should be there when they d the Gulf Bank marathon. Do that for sure. They also have a half marathon, 10k, and 5k so you can pick your distance. For any distance you get a huge medal and how many other times will you get a chance to run an officially sanctioned course along the Persian Gulf?
Also, subscribe to a VPN. It'll let you watch the US catalog (or any other country's) of streaming services, plus I would just use it in general because I don't fully trust my data going over Kuwaiti networks. Do your research and pick one you like but I can personally vouch for NordVPN. It has apps for PC/Mac/Android/iOS and usually had some sale where you can get a couple of years for $80 or so.
Also make sure you get to Avenues Mall. It's truly a sight to behold. And if you like coffee you are in for a treat. They are very good at coffee in Kuwait. Even the Ace Hardware had a coffee shop inside and it was better than almost anything I've ever had in the states.
I would 1000% avoid any and all "free" VPNs/proxy services. Everything has a cost, it just might not come out of your bank account. The last big scandal was the free VPN Hola Unblocker. Come to find out they were building user profiles, storing everyone's internet traffic and selling all that to advertising companies.
Pay for a proper service. I use Private Internet Access. Heard lots of good things about Tunnel Bear, HideMyAss, and StrongVPN. There are a bunch of others.
If you're looking to use licensed streaming services a la Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Video, you'll probably be SOL. However, you shouldn't have any problems connnect to most porn sites, so you've got that going for you. Plus you'll be able to get around any regional blocks on more normal sites.
We really wanted the video to be short. That was one of my key points going into the whole thing. I don't think anyone wants to listen to me talk for 15 or 20 minutes, but i did want to get what i thought was an important message out. Maybe it was too short, but i appreciate the question now so i can address it more thoroughly. First, 'willpower' is my word that i use to sum up a variety of other things from physical energy to desire. Not all of us are created equally, but make no mistake we all have a limit to how much stress we can handle...I call that limit, my will power. I first got the idea from the book "The Power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg. Anyway, the reasons one's energy or passion or 'willpower' might be limited are as varied as our Airmen themselves which is why i didn't really talk about it. The point i was trying to make (maybe i missed it) was whatever you have to give us, start with the mission. That's not so you can get promoted, though there's a correlation with the new system, but that's how we get our mission done. Next, i feel we should turn to each other and then finally to ourselves. It's just my own take on managing my own life and time (and willpower) and i was sharing it around the world for over a year with a lot of folks providing feedback that they liked the illustration. So we made a video. It was taped before the road show or the new EPR was out for anyone to see, but the timing of the release tied it all together...which was mostly a good thing, but i think left some folks to connect them more directly than i had envisioned. As for 2618, it certainly directs us to be all those things...mission experts, great supervisors, active community participants, and Airmen with a passion for self-improvement. It's a lot and if you need to scale back from time to time and just focus on the mission, i think that's okay. Hopefully that addresses your question, if not, i'm happy to try again...or even set up a telecon.
He was convinced that he was going to wow all the girls with his suave new USAF uniform. And that he'd have spare time in spades to accomplish said wowing with.
Funny enough, I also thought I'd have lots of spare time so I brought books. "The Art of War" was one the MTIs got a huge kick out of.
You want proof though. Proof you shall get. They had an article saying their budget was $1.3M, only 300k was o&m. Here's proof of that lie to public: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/chambers-afsva-svpce/50/b4/23a Care to explain the $2M airlift unaccounted for and no, that $2M is not NAF.
You can go here to get ideas of how much it will cost based on your zip code, and what kind of plan you want (low or high deductible, high or low premium): https://www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/ Average around my area seems to be $200 a month, but there are some as low as $130. If you do end up getting employed full time, I know when I was working I was only paying $50 a month, dental and vision included and that was just at Best Buy. Also, if your household income is low enough (which it likely will be as part time), most states offer assistance for health care, like medicaid. ::Edit:: forgot to add website url
https://www.google.com/flights?gl=us
If you're in PACAF, look at flights from your location to the west coast, then domestic from there to final location.
If you're in in PACAF but not near a major air hub- look at flights to a bigger OS hub, then from there to west coast (LAX, SEA, SFO)... and a final leg to your last stop.
If you're in USAFE I don't wanna hear it, flights across the Atlantic are cheap.
Only $12.15 each, extremely shitty chinese quality, and available in bulk lots.

Plus a soap of your choice. I actually use the creamo right now because I ran out of my normal shave soap. It’s a life changer. Give yourself 10 minutes every morning for just washing and shaving your face and you will have a great start to your day.
There is a little bit of a learning curve, but after a few weeks shaving is a non-event. I can go a few weeks after leave and shave and there will be no irritation.
Edit, these are the blades that work for me. I would use one type of blade for a few weeks then get a variety pack and see what works best. I settled on these and I use a fresh blade every other day.
IO Gear. They work great, play nice with mac, and most importantly built to last.

I cannot recommend that each office get a commercial line installed in their office as an emergency back up in case NIPR goes down. I definitely 100% do not recommend sticking a cheap unmanaged switch like this one on that commercial line and routing it to peoples desks. It would absolutely not be supported by me to swap your NIPR cable out for the commercial line and only VPN into NIPR to complete work when absolutely necessary.
Belleville Tactical Research Mini-Mil TR105 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073V123NR/ Hands down, the most comfortable, lightweight boots you will ever wear in your entire life.
My best advice, the grass isn’t always greener on the civilian side. Even when you do land a good job, it will still come with stress, responsibility, and feelings of being undervalued due to company politics.
Make sure you understand the true money delta for working in the civ sector. Maybe you do find a good paying job, but, that paycheck also doesn’t come with BAH, BAS, medical, etc.
While you ponder your decision and do your research also research better copying mechanisms for job adversity.
By all means, if your not happy with your job or where that job is taking you in 5 to 10 years, don’t settle. Take risks and bet on yourself, but just make sure you are considering ALL the variables.
I was once in your shoes (battle field airmen wash out, hated my new job etc) and a friend recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/Subtle-Art-Not-Giving-Counterintuitive/dp/0062457713
Changed my life, and funny enough after I learned better copying mechanisms I started winning awards, randomly got picked up for a Academy slot, went to pilot training, so many random crazy things I never thought would happen when I got out of my negative ways/thinking.
Hope that helps, keep your head up, don’t stress, be happy, the AF is just a job. Unless your job involves handling nuclear weapons... then yeah stress about that shit lol.
Rubber pin backs changed wearing my service dress for the better, as the material actually holds ribbons and badges from randomly falling and more importantly, they DON'T chafe up against your chest like the metal ones do. You can get a pack of 100 for like five bucks on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08196BG78/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_9KvUFbA83JF0A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Skip out on the middle man and just buy Dorco razors from Amazon. That's the brand that they ship from Dollar Shave Club if you buy the 5 blade option. You don't have to commit to any kind of subscription that way.
Amazon has extremely comfy mattresses for relatively cheap. This is the one I have. You can find a platform bed that doesn't need a box spring for pretty cheap too, and voila, now your bedroom looks like a grownup lives there and not a gross college dude. Other than that I'd just say buy the bare minimum up front and furnish as you go along. You don't really need a fully furnished apartment immediately and it gives you time to find better deals. Also Walmart has cheaper furniture than Ikea. Like others said I'd watch thrift stores too.
Buy for Babies is a front organization.
Or, y'know, Amazon...
I was issued cold weather sage green gloves a couple years ago. They're comfy and warm. I got mine through the supply chain, but a casual google search for "Gloves, Men's and Women's, Intermediate Cold/Wet" turns up a bunch of commercial vendors selling them. I put in an Amazon link below for reference, but they're all over the place.
They do seem to run a little small, so you might want to go up a size when you order.

I had shin spints BAD and bought shin compression sleeves from amazon and they worked wonders.
I’ve got a 2tb western digital usb3.0 drive in a protective case I fly all over the world with. Been an absolute trooper.

I got Private Internet Access the last time I was in Korea and I still use it today, 4 years later.
At the time, it was the best on the market. I dunno how it compares to others nowadays, but it still works very well. I use it to circumvent my ISP when they try to block me from certain websites (screw you, Cox Communications!). Despite having a 300 Mb Internet package with them, I barely notice a slow-down while using PIA. I can still play online games and stream Twitch shows with no lag while my wife streams her Netflix shows over WiFi in the other room. PIA doesn't make a noticeable dent in my Internet speeds.
I also use their app on my phone and tablet so I can mask my devices, and I've integrated their proxy settings into my torrent programs so my ISP can't rat me out for torrenting. I think I pay something like $40/yr to use PIA. I'd recommend it.
I hear it's fixed now, but PIA actually banned their app in Korea a couple years ago because they found out the local Korean gov't was planning to spoof their IPs so they could hijack VPN traffic. So PIA just straight-up yanked service in South Korea. I believe it's been restored since then. But that makes me trust them more than any other VPN; no other VPN said anything when the Korean gov't was attempting to infiltrate their traffic.
South Korea is notorious for banning Internet content. They made online porn illegal, so they're constantly blocking all the porn sites they can find. They noticed people were using VPNs to circumvent the ban, so they've been finding ways to infiltrate VPN traffic and block/redirect content. Which is why I'm assuming you're looking for a good VPN...?
I use ExpressVPN in Qatar. It's about $100 for 12-15 months depending whether or not you buy it during a promotion (one time fee for the time period). The reason I chose this VPN over the others is because video streaming services like Netflix will block IP addresses when they determine those IP addresses to belong to a proxy or VPN service. The only way around this then is for the VPN service to actively change their IP allocation schemes so as to "trick" the streaming service again. Cheaper VPN providers don't have this resources to continually do this, but ExpressVPN guarantees their connections to their services, especially those to streaming services!
If you want to sign up for ExpressVPN or really any other VPN, visit their website and subscribe to their service. There is an app for EXVPN that you'll need to download and I know of a couple others that require this too; this is how you turn on and off your VPN connection and determine which country you want to connect through. I hope this helps.
I’ll second ExpressVPN. Been using them for the past 3 1/2 years. A little more expensive but as stated above, for about $9 a month it just works. Plus I like the fact that they have android/Apple apps along with PlayStation/XBox support.
Yes, and the drivers/software for your VPN will probably need to be downloaded back home as their site is probably blocked here.
I paid for TunnelBear when I first got out here, but wasn't really using it. I access my TV shows through other sites that aren't censored and use Reddit for other...needs.
I periodically boot up the free version (500MB) to re-login to Spotify "from the U.S" when it catches I'm out of country.
Private Internet Access? Most VPN sites, like hidemyass and goldenfrog actually keep your doesn', don't acknowledge in any official manner that you got that notice until you talk to 're known for telling you not to acknowledge it at all because, and this may just be rumor, but that it counts as an admission of guilt if you do....
There is an app! I just recently used it in Chicago. It will allow you to check in, that way you don't have to check in using the iPads. It will also use your location so when you land it will tell you if the airport has one and where it is. Here is the Android app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.uso.theuso
If you're only planning on doing 1 enlistment and getting out EW might be they way to go. You'll deploy and get rode into the ground but be the "tip of the spear". All Action Jackson and what not.
If you are thinking more long term, better go with Avionics. EW and AFSOC will grind you down. You can still deploy with 135's, stay around a while and maybe be a flying crew chief eventually (C-17s allowed other AFSCs to do it) and you will get good experience on a commercial derivative aircraft that will help if you want to work on aircraft in the civilian world.
Either way, put 10% of your base pay into Roth TSP...NOW.....DID YOU DO IT? Find a good fund mix for your contributions (do the L2050 or G fund for now until you learn more) and then ignore it for a few years. Bump it up 1% a year until you are at 15%. Also go find a book called the Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey and read it. Don't go into debt and take what you will from the reading.
Besides that, make some good friends and don't hang out in the dorms all the time. 21 years goes by fast.
They have a version for Iphones as well. It makes you do pushups in several sets and you do it 3 times a week. I generally just do them throughout the day rather than all in one sitting; I've found it helps either way. If you're doing 100-200 pushups a day, 3-4x a week, you should easily do 50+ pushups.
They also have an app for situps as well called the 200 situps app.
Potted meat looks like old MRE meat but in a can with a thick layer of congealed fat on top. https://jet.com/product/detail/ec04241963c942a39c527c8e01379914?jcmp=pla:ggl:JD_cons_Gen_Grocery_a3:Grocery_Canned_Jarred_Food_Canned_Meat_Seafood_a3:na:PLA_786070974_46630713488_pla-290891994462:na:na:na:2&code=PLA15&pid=kenshoo_int&c...
It might not be welcomed advice, but don't use plastic. Use cash instead. You're much more likely to NOT impulse buy if you use cash. I don't want to sound Dave Ramsey-esque, but that shit is real. Read these if you don't believe me:
It's interesting that their way-ahead talking points (CAO last Thursday, 21 May) has the same verbiage regarding CC Composite Exemptions for March 2020-March 2021. So you're probably right.
You want proof.
The SECAF nominee may have some issues. Personally, I'm not so sure she'll make it through the process.

You do know they take actual things from the marines from that movie.

I'd do some Googling on math tutorials online. You may be a visual learner and there are lots of sites and YouTube videos and interactive learning tools that may help you with multiplication and other basic math concepts without having to read it out of a book. Try the Khan Academy as well.
There is no waiver for math. The math on the ASVAB is very basic and there is a minimum score for a reason.
Ultimately it's up to you to find a way to learn the material that works for you. Look at it as the first test of getting into the Air Force if that's what you want to do. Your first order is to find a way to learn what you need to learn to score a 50 or higher on the ASVAB, and then go from there.
No...You stay at the house, you pay the man to stay at his house (which is much nicer than the on-base lodging) up to the max lodging. Then, later, someone pays you to stay at your house during their TDY.
There's no kick-back. It's merely using the Air BnB model to rent out your spare room to other military members on TDY.
I can't speak for Minot but Cannon is in a small town in Eastern New Mexico. There is nothing there and it gets hot as balls. Just look at the Google maps of the area.
The place smells like manure and you have to drive 2 hours to get to any other cities besides Clovis or Portales. Lubbock and Amarrilo are the two closest "big" cities. Also oil pumps and cows.
I don't know that it works like that. I know in firefox you can load your PKIs to natively log into a few systems but you are still using your own certs. It sounds like what you are describing are creating new certs.. ie something like https://letsencrypt.org/ that is free cert creation. I could be misunderstanding and if so then my bad.
This is a great point and I'm glad you brought it up! This is the biggest counter argument and a hot topic. What's the future look like now in the current interest rate environment. The yield curve is near flat and some people think it'll even become inverted. But I don't think you should write them off completely! Check out this article by Schwab if you haven't already. I think you will appreciate it, even if you don't necessarily agree with it. Their main point was that a fund manager can react to rising rates by buying and selling bonds to try to maximize coupon income. When looking at previous rate hikes, short-term bond funds were the only major category that had positive total returns in each of the rate-hike cycles. But, over time, the intermediate-term, long-term and multi-sector bond categories generally recovered and delivered positive returns, due the gradual impact of reinvesting in higher-yielding bonds, even as rates rose. This to me means buying into bond funds even in low rate environments can potentially make sense. They also still don't stop delivering on diversification benefits and solidifying a portfolio against a looking contraction in the short term. And if you're looking at the long term, than you will probably be investing in a few different interest rate environments, and if you're a buy-and-hold investor, you don't care too much about current climates.
Let me know what you think, and like I said, I'm glad you brought this up! It's an important consideration.
EDIT: he replied here, and it's really good. https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/comments/8fs0kq/let_me_show_you_how_to_use_the_f_yes_the_f_fund/dy6o7os
> Drink muscle milk, it's like chocolate milk but filled with an insane amount of fat and calories. Also butter that stuff is good.
Or you know, drink chocolate milk and save a ton of money... 10oz of low fat chocolate milk has about 180 calories. Source.
10oz of the ready-to-drink Muscle Milk only has 160! Source.
Shit, if all you skinnyfat bastards just drank a gallon of whole milk a day you'd have no problem making weight. Once you stopped shitting your brains out. Two dozen eggs a day might be a better choice...
I would say that yes, there's going to be a myriad of not as popular/advertised trails not far from the base. Basically anywhere just outside of town is going to offer some type of dirt roads. The challenging and well known ones are all over the state. https://www.alltrails.com/us/utah/off-road-driving

Type in your local airport and bookmark the page. It's not abnormal to see tickets to Europe for ~450. When I was an A1C I used to travel every 3 months and was still able to save money. The trick is to find some friends who are willing to tag along and split the hotel/care rental. I just got back from Europe and we spent under $1k for a 1 week trip.

"Comradery is the spirit of friendship and community in a group, like the comradery of soldiers at war who keep each other upbeat despite the difficulty of their circumstances."
Ft Hood and lackland I noticed too though! Maybe it's just texas?
I have an app for that on my phone it's been of good use. Dudes literally just drive around updating it every day for virtual points. It's like the reddit of the petroleum world
