If your cat is scared of the fountain you can always try stainless steel dog bowls like these.
Cats can't knock these over and they are very easy to clean. I have 1 fountain that only 1 of my cats uses. The others prefer the stainless steel bowls and 1 is scared of the sound of the fountain. She is also terrified of jangling keys and throat clearing sounds.
Edit: Link formatting.
Get some apple bitter spray and spray it on the cord for a week or so and the cat should stop. My cat would do the same thing and this worked wonders.
Amazon! I think they also sell on Etsy. It's worked great so far! (OP's wife)
My cat was obsessed with playing in her water until I got her a water fountain and it solved the problem. Turns out the "pawing" wasn't so much for fun as it was to "stir" the water to make it more appetizing. Would highly recommend!
Looks like some sort of setup to keep the litter in the box. Cat has to walk over the grate near the entrance and it helps get rid of the litter stuck to its paws?
https://www.amazon.com/IRIS-Large-Split-Hood-Litter-Scoop/dp/B002BDU8K6/ is as close as I could find.

Hmm. When does it scratch you? Just randomly? Maybe you're getting too rough with it or touching it too much and it's trying to tell you to give it some space?
Are you playing with it daily? I strongly recommend playing with it for at least 5-10 minutes every day. It's the equivalent to taking it for a walk and helps curb a lot of behavioral issues. This is hands down the best toy you can get - https://www.amazon.com/Cat-Dancer-101-Interactive-Toy/dp/B0006N9I68. My cats are also partial to chasing rolled up tinfoil balls that I throw for them.
For behavioral stuff I recommend checking out some books by the My Cat From Hell guy Jackson Galaxy. He's an actual expert, so his advice will probably be more helpful.
Cats don't like their water to be next to their food or to be stagnate for too long.

Edit: And we also got this to get our cats away from our plants. Sadly we lost quite a few succulents before finding this.
Hydrogen peroxide is an effective antibacterial solution that should never be used on your cuts and wounds. It disrupts healthy tissue and prolongs healing.
Personally, I use betadine for disinfection.
This is our second one from Fur Haven on Amazon. We got a small one for our 15 year old Bichon mix and he loved it so we went with another of the same brand. Seems to be a crowd pleaser so far.
I’ve found that if you don’t want a cat on a surface they DGAF and will still sit there when you’re not around to shoo them away, but if they don’t want to sit there they won’t. Unpleasant things like foil, tape, and bubble wrap sometimes work, sometimes they don’t. A ScatMat can help with the more stubborn cases. It gives off a static buzz that deters pets from sitting on it.
We give our bunny cardbox boxes from packages and all that, but one thing we do spend money on is this:
It's thick, multilayered cardboard and strong enough she can jump up on and eat away at the carrot-flavored top. We usually put it up against the radiator where she can jump up and likes to take a nap on it in the warmth. She does eventually eat most all of it, but it takes her a while.
>Angry buns just thump and act anti social.
I mean, to be fair, they do act like this sometimes when they're frustrated as well. Thumping is usually when they're scared/alarmed.
And I've owned one of those stools. You could dance on it. That looks like about a 15 gallon tank, which is 120lbs, maybe 130 with the tank itself.
I couldn't find the exact one, but this is rated at 330lbs each.
So you've got maybe 150lbs sitting on something rated for ~660lbs.
As someone that tried to do this for about a year; you basically can't without annoying trade offs.
You can set windows up to mirror one soundcard to another (virtual or physical) soundcard, but you end up with a half second of latency in one of the outputs. I ended up buying a soundblaster so that I can more easily switch between earphones and speakers by opening an app and flicking a toggle.
When I say I tried to do this for a year, I mean I googled for a few days every couple months, and have essentially 5 different sound outputs (External USB audio interface, Soundcard, USB Microphone, Onboard Sound, Bluetooth DAC) and could not get output to two simultaneous channels of the same audio source with any combination of the 5. The closest I came was using my USB interface to physically split the sound into a 2.0 set up of studio monitors, and a line out to headphones, but they didn't have independent audio controls...
Edit: Here's the USB interface if you want to try going down that line.

According to Max and the Banjo Ferret (Book 3 in a very funny series), the fifth fundamental force of the Universe (after Strong, Weak, Electromagnetic, and Gravity) is the Goading Prick. Its purpose is to fuck with everyone's heads.
It is embodied as a cat.
I did a search because I figured someone out there must have a video of something like it. Found two. One on Youtube and the other on a weather site(?weird). 1 https://youtu.be/32JO345jALk 2 https://weather.com/news/trending/video/squirrel-climbs-greased-pole-for-bird-seed
Yup, still funny.
I wager if it was true then your local bird breeder would be fingerless. There are a lot of times an angry parrot bites, and hard. They will break flesh, remove chunks of it, but I have never lost a finger. It would take far too precise a bite to sever the finger or make it snap.
This site suggests a large macaw could apply 700 psi with its break.
This site suggests a human finger can withstand up to 160 psi.
So I suppose you could expect a parrot to break a finger. But I am sure there are factors like localized stress that prevent it, among other things.
Yea, I've been doing a lot of poaching recently, namely the method David Chang mentions because you do get a really great broth when you use a whole chicken with minimal poaching liquid. Plus when it comes to effort versus result, poaching is way more convenient than what I used to do which is spatchcock, dry brine, and roast.
If you're ever up for it, it may be worth trying dark meat since it's usually cheaper and more flavorful (Thomas Keller has a whole Masterclass episode on it) .
You can cut thin plastic tote boxes like Rubbermaid with just a box cutter or knife. The secret is to heat the plastic with a hair dryer until warm so then the plastic is easier to cut. It will harden again when cooled off.
Tenacious! This cat seems more aggressive in their urge to spill water than our cat, but this kid bowl with mat attached worked for us. It's harder to slide or tip over, especially if they have a paw on the mat.

I think they recommend the filters be replaced every week or so but I usually just play it by ear and judge how the filter looks whenever I refill the water. I find that I end up replacing it closer to every 3-4 weeks. I looked at the page I linked too and the standalone filters are kinda expensive there, here's a much more affordable amazon link for replacement filters specifically
The filter isn't required for it to run.

Our fatass black and white cow kitty loves to sleep on the vents, and his chub has officially grown too big to let air through. So I built a shelf out of 1x6 and stuck it on top of a deflector. He still sleeps on top of the shelf but the heat is shared, now.
Replace it with the wall mounted strike pad. They are paintable.
It would be easier to tell for sure if we could see their ears, but they look closer to the dog on the right in this picture, which is a Frenchie.
My pit does the exact same thing with nail cuts. I finally bought a nail grinder. The one I specifically bought isn't on amazon but it looks identical to the one I linked. It took about 20 minutes for her to stop pulling her paw away when I first used it. Now she lays down and enjoys the manny petty. It was down right scary to cut her nails anymore. Other than nail cutting, she is a giant ham.

Yes! I have tried several (my wife jokes that my biggest "hobby" is figuring out creative ways to feed the cats).
PetSafe Six Meal Pet Feeder https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WYNNFL/ref=pe_2640190_232748420_pd_te_o_wl_ti?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B075WYNNFL&pd_rd_r=02XTDJFY6Q32KH9YE94A&pd_rd_w=MfI98&pd_rd_wg=G91BZ
It's easy to program, you can see how much food is in it without opening it, and the cats haven't figured out how to get it open. My only complaint is that it spills out all the food at once, so my fatter, hungrier girl snarfs it up too quickly (leaving the little boy hungry). I get around this by drilling a 1/2" hole in a small plastic container (like plastic Easter eggs, or a film canister, or a ball for bubble gum machines) and filling them with the food. I then place two containers in each compartment of the feeder. Then, the machine dispenses the two balls twice a day. It takes the cats about 15 minutes to bat them around and get all of the food out. They have to eat slower, and they both get fed. (Took me a long time to find containers that fit two per compartment in the feeder and didn't ever jam when they dropped out - but one container would be much easier.)
I got the smart feeders from PetSafe and they are great, but a bit expensive ($150). It does wonders though since now my cats stare at it for an hour before it goes off instead of waking us up. You can set the schedule for the times and amounts of food, plus can use the app to feed them from wherever if you need to give them an extra meal while you’re not home.

Best thing ever. I would hope this would help
I have a cat that does this with bowls of water and we have a water fountain. He will flip bowls and can't flip the fountain so he just sticks his paws in or stands on the top tier with his front paws so I have to clean it way more often. The other cat is normal and just drinks from the fountain.
Of course! these are the ones I have, but there's tons of options! My 28 pound chonk couldn't jump this high (obviously) but he did like to walk behind the tv and nudge it precariously.
I've owned cats for years and for the most part, they stay off as we've worked with them to know it's not okay to be in some places while others are okay.
This thing works well to help with this effort initially:
https://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-Deterrent-Activated-Repellent-Environmentally/dp/B0721735K9/
They all have had different personalities but for the most part, they learn a few places are not for them. We also put scratchers in every room of the house which broke them of pondering using our furniture as scratchers.
Just gotta put the time in if that's what you want. :)

Btw tip for keeping up with the hair. After a bath or just after the the end of your weekly brushing take them outside. Give them a blowout to remove all that loose hair. You'll have about a week of break if you are one to keep in daily brushing. Used to do this for a client's Saint Benard it kept the house quiet clean.

Seconded. Nature's Miracle is overpriced scented soapy water. Its claims of 'enzymes' (never clarified just what the hell enzymes are actually used) are bullshit - and the stuff just simply does not work. Like - at all.
If you follow the instructions, everything the product tells you to do is what removes the urine and stains. Basically "that and a nickel gets you a nickel".

I bought this in 2020 after my cat who was trained to use a toilet started using the sink instead because of dogs. She was very messy and this solves the mess plus I have not had to sift litter in 2 years. If you get it make sure to spray the pan with dry Teflon spray so it slides easier.

Idk if it’d work on all TVs but you can get straps that hold the tv so it doesn’t fall on children. It might work as a way to prevent a cat from ruining a tv down the line.

Yeah, I wouldn't think it's a pure bred. Looks like it has some genes from a short-haired breed, maybe a basenji? The source account (https://www.tiktok.com/@mooktee) just calls it a husky, though. Maybe it's had it's hair clipped? That can make dogs look weird. You're not supposed to clip huskies, but that doesn't mean some people don't do it.

Yeah my cat will do the same thing, clawing on the couch while looking me directly in the eye with a posture that makes it easy for him to run when I get up to stop him.
I guess I'm just not sure I buy this as an example of the cat understanding cause and effect. Conditioning sure, it's aware the human tends to act aggressive in this situation. But is that really learning, or just response to stimuli? If the cat really gets cause and effect, why wouldn't it only scratch when you're not around?
So, I did some light reading and remain skeptical that cats understand cause and effect as we understand it. I hope I don't seem pedantic. The article below seems to confirm a lot of what I've posted here in terms of cats being trainable, but that traditional "discipline" like smacking, yelling or squirting are definitely not effective wasys to go about it.
