The lids never actually sealed correctly. There was a weed smell in my cabinet and I couldn't quite pin down where it came from until later.
So yep, no cure for an entire batch of livers BX-1. =(
Are the ones I'm talking about... Run from those. :)
I just double checked and they're called fermentation lids. Identical to the burpz other than being a different color and costing way less.
Purchased these on Amazon for about $9
One filter is not quite big enough to cover the entire intake, but two are more than enough. They stick right do the Velcro, and although they don't block 100% of the light they do a far better job than nothing.
Are you growing in soil, coco, or a mix? Those three options will behave quite differently. If you're growing in just coco, 3-5 gallons is going to be on the very large side.
Vivosun stuff is usually very cheaply made.
The Surpsun "1200W" light is actually only 150 watts. It would barely suffice for a 2x2' tent, and you're planning on a tent four times as large. You'll need a much better light. Generally, avoid anything with purple/magenta light, it's old LED tech and white/full spectrum lights are a lot more efficient. Expect to spend significantly more, lighting is one of the worst places to cut corners when buying grow equipment. If you're on a budget, start with a smaller tent.
We get a lot of complaints on the sub about ILGM auto seeds turning out to be photoperiods. You're better off getting seeds from breeders that specializes in autos -- see the pinned post about breeders and seedbanks.

Maybe something along these lines.
This is a great book but has been superseded by the purple Cannabis Encyclopedia. I recommend owning both!
I use this one. It's $7. The main downside is that it can be hard to take pictures through, but I haven't needed to in a while.
If you don't want to deal with amazon, you can find the same general loupe in other stores with gear for crafts or electronics work.
Buffered means you charge the coco with plenty of magnesium and calcium prior to using it so that they're not all bound up by the coco and made unusable by the plant. Some brands of coco coir come prebuffered like Canna Coco.
Whoa man relax, i've just heard good things about the brand and that's the only place to get it. I'm also thinking about this light for a 3x3 tent. Planning on growing 4-5 plants. Budget is right around 200 (give or take 50 bucks) for the light. Would this be better?
There’s a million types on Amazon. This one now says it’s $31 with the coupon, it was less when I got it a few weeks ago. Look around, I’m sure there’s others that are exactly the same that are cheaper.

I'm actually using them for the first time! I'm actually going with an idea inspired by /u/peritiSumus . The manufacturer recommends only using cannabis that's been dried, but I'm experimenting with 100g silica packs in each bag so they can dry and cure all in one go.
When they're dry enough for me, I'll take out the silica packs and seal the bags to cure. I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes, but it's working great 3 days in so far.
I have crappy well water.
I installed an RO system for drinking and growing. It was about $275 for the unit, and I went pretty extravagant with the install, dedicated sediment prefilter, 1/2in line in, shut off valves, extra line and connectors, etc, which was another $200.
Here's the one I got. Look for a boosted one for well water if your water pressure is low.

Just lookin’ out. I recently got a pack of these and they hold about an 8th of rosin per jar. That should give you a decent idea of the mL-to-gram ratio on jars in case you get your own. Don't let the waiting drive you nuts. :) It will help if you can take pictures daily, especially if you can set up a camera that does it automatically. In that case, hourly is better. Time lapses of grows are awesome, and it's easier to see gradual changes like buds fattening that way, because otherwise it can feel like nothing's happening.
Make sure you have a plan for harvesting, drying, and curing. The best way to tell when it's ready to harvest is by checking the trichomes on the buds with some kind of magnification. I like using a loupe, lenses or microscopes that attach to phones for taking pictures are also popular.

I bought an ozone generator in a panic last year when Covid started. Gonna put all my gear in my tent, seal it up, zip it up, and run it for a few minutes. The ozone should act like "air bleach" to kill off any remaining biologicals before my next grow begins.
It sounds like you need more seed storage to me. I will just leave this here for you. Remember if you buy the big one then you can justify getting more seeds to fill it up. :)
It depends on tent size but anything over $100 is going to work. Do not buy the ones that are $80 and smaller.
Look for the operating wattage. Anything that’s 200-500w is going to pull water at the right rate. If you have the right set up, I’d encourage you to get one that has a hose so you don’t have to empty the dehumidifier 2x a day. Also make sure you calculate tour wattage or buy a wattage meter so you can figure out if lights+dehu+everything else can run without tripping the circuit.
1500-3000sq ft around 30 pints per day works well for a 4x8 or smaller.
I’ve had good success with this one
Always make sure you cover the lights on the dehumidifier with tape so that it isn’t emitting a bunch of light at night during the dark period, although with autos that doesn’t matter.
This one is pretty low wattage so you probably don’t have to worry about using different circuits.
Congrats on starting your first grow! 😁Just to shed a little light (pun intended) a lux meter will give you a general idea of light intensity, but not in the way that it is used by plants. Measuring the ppfd from a quantum sensor (like this one here would be more ideal for dialing in and monitoring the light your plants need at each stage. Check out apogee instruments and Dr. Bruce Bugsbee on YouTube for a detailed breakdown. Good luck bro and congrats again for getting your first grow started 🎉
Sure thing. I am running 2 of these and just keep in mind they are cheap device and will need to constant check in its functionality but for price, I got no complaints.

Far superior to the spider farmer. I have a sf1000 and is is way under powered.
Mostly calyx shots of the lower buds. She's hardly drinking and the main cola doesn't have any white hairs towards the tip so I'm worried that the sugar leaves are going to yellow. I'll inspect her a bit more towards the top. Its hard to tell cloudy from clear.
I used a $20 USB microscope, off amazon here
I still havent perfected using it but I have two of these running and so far, i love it.
Thanks! I'll do everyone on here one better. I'm posting the two links to Amazon that are exactly what I have. Seriously, its as simple and putting all the negative sides to the negative terminal on the inverter and the same for the positive. No need for a charge controller like you would need for batteries so they don't overcharge. I would need probably about 20 or so to cover most of my house, minus when I need airconditioning, so that's my goal eventually. I'll have ten panels going to one inverter and another going to a separate inverter. With this type of inverter you plug it into an outlet instead of plugging stuff into it. Once you unplug it and it doesn't sense power anymore it goes dead so it can't shock you. It's cheap and easy and saves you money if you live in a sunny area. The payback is probably about 2 to 3 years or maybe a little more depending on how cheap you can make it and how expensive your power is. It's similar to growing in that it's a fun hobby that saves you a ton of money once you're set up!
I bought this one off of Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0799XGGFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They have others, click on their blue name under the product name
If you're open to alibaba, you can get much more for your money by buying a quantum board there. Should be able to get 200w+ of QB from alibaba... look around here because they're posted all over. They keep changing so I don't bookmark them but they are cheaper than HLG and the same technology.

OR you could easily grab two 65w QBs off Amazon for $200 and have 130w QB lighting in there which is a bit less than most people recommend, but so would two viparspectras be.

2x4 should be 400 TRUE WATTS (not advertised numbers) of blurple, or 200-240w of QB by most people's calculations.

Those two viparspectras are likely not even close to 400w of true blurple lighting. They may say "600w" or "1000w" each but that's a lie. Read further down on the item description and it will tell you the true draw, which is likely closer to 100w each than anything else. So your two viparspectras would probably be like HALF the lighting you need, while your two QBs would be more than that, and way better lighting overall with better penetration for faster growth.

My little 65w QB beats the brakes off a 135w blurple I used to use for reference.

Haha alright then! SO Berry is a cross we made, of a Sour D auto female crossed to our Blueberry auto line... this is probably a good time to mention that our company works directly with DJ Short’s son, Jd Short. DJ bred Blueberry. Anyway, he didn’t breed this Blueberry auto but that’s how SO Berry was made. A large, purple and high yielding SO Berry female was selected and crossed to our Deep Sea Creature resinous male selection, to make the seeds that this plant grew from. Deep Sea Creature came to us as three auto lines - Auto AK, Purple Auto AK, and Auto AK x Purple Auto AK. After inbreeding the hybrid line and selecting for color, vigor and terps, the line was backcrossed several times to the Purple AK line and large, high yielding plants with prolific side branching emerged. I called them Deep Sea Creature. This is a plant from the cross described, and she was pollinated by a male Dairy Drunk, which we also made. Dairy Drunk is Chaze superauto female x Deep Sea Creature male. Here is a link to our distributor if anyone wants to look: https://tinyurl.com/y8qdl2jz

These seem to be very powerful for the price I’d honestly say it is as good as the sf2000. And it’s about the same price as that antique in the pic you can see the 2000 running I was using this one for the seedlings on the side but centering the light more than covers the girls so much in fact 12 inches slightly bleached them at 80 percent not I hover over the older girls at 100% and it leaves me 36or so from the seedlings and all the plants seem to love it

For the future I recommend just buying colloidal sliver I bought this and bought one a couple years ago its $24 dollars but you get 10oz instead of one and it will do the same thing. just spray the buds after flowering starts harvest the pollen or just let the plant pollinate itself(I did that) and you'll have a bunch of seeds.

How often/when do you apply it? Is it cheaper than using Fox Farms trios in the long run?
Just one small recommendation on solo grow, if you are using coco for your medium as I do, you will notice that root volume is taking significant portion of the cup around 1~2 week of flowering. Around this time, plant really appreciate frequent feeding. I hand feed my solo plants 2~3 times per day during veg till 1~2 week of flower then use my cheap auto feeder to feed them every 1~2 hours till slight runoff. I can usually tell much more growth as soon as I start using the feeder. I try not to use early one as I want the plant to have root structure established first to really appreciate the feeding.
Well, we can't tell you if it's ready for harvest without magnification, so you should get something.
I use a cheap 30x/60x loupe, they're hard to take pictures through though.
They are regulars created from the F6 generation

I picked these up on PrimeDay for a pretty decent discount just to try them out.
Ive been debating on several drip tray options and always find the trays to be incredibly expensive and the other raised caddy’s to be missing just that “one little thing” to convince me to purchase it.
I just want to give a shout out to these caddies. They roll perfect and have the desired catch can I’ve been after. Ive wanted to check R/O PH for a good while now and will be moving to self watering coco setup soon.
So these are PERFECT IMO for anyone who regularly needs free drainage via gravity and wants to check much needed run off PH.
Highly recommend and hope I can help a few others stuck in this decision like I was. Feel free to ask any questions!

You might want to consider picking up a LUX meter, like this one, and use it to give you an idea of how much light you are giving your plants. I didn't think they were useful for that purpose until I found a conversion table on HLG's site for their lights. I have an HLG light, so I've got an accurate conversion number, but you can still get a fairly good idea of how many ppfd your light is putting out.
well since you are a business and probably have tried and tested a few things.
what's the difference in Grove bags, foil bags, mylar bags? seeing them called several things online.. are they all the same? and if they are different do you seal them different ways? or do all of them seal with something like this?
I use this EC meter. Unlike pH meters, the cheap ones are probably generally fine, because the electroconductivity of a solution is much easier to measure with electronics than pH.

Highly recommend this microscope. It's $32 on sale, and you can take pictures on phone. If you get it I suggest snapping photo using your phone view versus button on the microscope as when you press the button it typically moves the microscope enough to blur the image or not capture what you were looking at on your phone. You can have the app up on your phone and hit the circle on your phone to capture the photo.
If you're wondering how it connects, the microscope broadcasts it's own Wi-Fi network which you join then open the app to view real time view. Just need to adjust to focus in once and leave on settings. Works flawlessly for such a low price.
Helps you look at your trichomes to let you know when its ready for harvest.
Get yourself one of these. Small enough to dunk into a 5 gal if you brew a tea so you dont spill. Plus, look at it. Its an elephant.

People use them but they’re just not all that accurate. Some folks buy multiples and just keep track of how much each is off, pretend like they’re accurate and then post “why does my stuff smell like hay?”, or spend more money getting enough that read the same.
These are like 10 bucks each, accurate, small enough to go into jars, and the WiFi is super nice. Let’s say you have 10 cure jars- you can monitor them on WiFi instead of having to go and look at each jar individually. Maybe you don’t like to cure above 65%. Well, you can set a notification to alert you if a jar gets above and below your set parameters of temp and humidity. Accurate hygrometers also help throughout the grow in keeping the correct VPD. Some folks might balk at the price if needing a lot, but I’d personally rather pay a little more for the accuracy, convenience, and better quality harvests.

It's HIGHLY recommended to avoid neem oil if you're in flower. I avoid it completely out of precaution. I use Diatomaceous Earth every-time I run into pests. It's a fine white powder that's fully organic and won't harm your plant or smoke. Essentially, it's really soft and fine to the human touch, but is incredibly jagged and sharp to pests causing damage to their exoskeleton and dehydrating them to death.
Also, hang these in your tent or line on the inside of your pot for any eggs that hatch flying shits.
Depending on the pest, I remove the first inch or so of soil - be careful not to damage roots. I replace the soil with fresh new soil and layer the top with Diatomaceous Earth. I go hard, but be careful as it increase drainage of your pot.
Only pain in the ass is that you need to reapply every time you water. It doesn't kill eggs either, so you need to reapply for a couple weeks.
You can pick them up usually at a head shop too. Raw makes a circular one that is perfect. Hydrostone Terracotta Humidifying Stone (3 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HFZE6G2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_8QM1CRT59TZ0XBP9M1FG
I’m not sure if you are monitoring the humidity but you should also invest in these so you can know exactly what you are looking at as far as RH in your jars

I'm following DIY Autoflowering Canabis as closely as I can, if you want to have a bit of a guidebook. Also, maybe pick up What's wrong with my marijuana plant? . You might find your answer in there.
Not too late to tie it down a bit. Get some sticky back cable management clips from Amazon or elsewhere. You can put those on the net pot lid so you can still remove the lid and tie it down with plant ties or similar.

Yes, those do work. I also put one of these in at the start of a grow. https://www.amazon.com/PureGuardian-GGHS15-Antimicrobial-Guardian-humidifiers/dp/B0055522EM/
I use these in a one-gallon ultrasonic humidifier. One of these lasts most of one grow.
.
im using a 20 dollar hurricane clip on fan ... this fan is cheap and sturdy but I want to upgrade to a tower fan soon, seems like they would be perfect for tent grows.
The best book I have red for growing is
There is not much info about autos but it is full of good info. I met one of the guys who helped write it and he was a really cool guy.

These work well and a must have in plant diagnostics.
pH pH pH! You been lucky dawg! Get yourself a pH meter and I’d suggest looking up a pH nutrient chart for cannabis, shows the range of pH that nutrients are taken up at since it varies for each nutrient, if in coco I’d say 5.7-6.3 is what you want soil (I haven’t used) but 5.8-6.5 I’d say. pH is very important so get yourself a good meter (the one I attached is good and affordable). pH and EC or ppm can bring your garden to the next level and help you understand what’s happening in your plants. So I’d say go do some research just type in google “pH for cannabis” and you’ll get everything you need. Happy growing 🤙🏻
Blue lab meters are good but pricey, this one will work till you save up for one.

Medium: Soil
Pots: 3 gallons
Nutes: Greenleaf Nutrients (Mega Crop, Sweet Candy, Bud Explosion)
Light: Mars Hydro TSL2000
LOL! Yeah, newbie here too. I just spent as lot of time reading how to best grow autoflowers. Someone somewhere recommended doing a living soil with light nutes in flower so that's the way I went.
Yeah, they're expensive but you only need one per 5 gal pot. Fill the bottom 1/3 with plotting soil (Fox Farms here) and mix it all together. Do it outside because it has lots of guano mixed in and smells like literal ass. Fill the other 2/3 with the rest of the potting soil.
My girl is at 4 weeks and I can tell that her roots have hit. She went from seedling to small shrub almost overnight. She's an autoflower so (hopefully) she'll start flowering within the next two weeks or so. I just started her on 1/8th rations of this.
I would suggest hooking this up to your Carbon Filter Fan and set it to your desired temps. It will keep venting until cooled to your desired temperature it will turn off at night and save some electricity if you are running 18/6.

Also HPS in that space is very bold of you. Quantum Boards provide much cooler temps and dimmable to prevent any light scorching.
This is the Mars Hydro that would best satisfy a 3x3.
I got two Kingsbrite lights totalling 340 watts (40 watts per sq ft) and spent $311.
You can, of course, use less light/cheaper lights, but your yield will reflect the less light.
If you're not "vaporizing" the water, the white powder wont be the issue. You'll definitely want to balance the PH of your water if you're not already. It's super easy to do. Buy a PH meter and some PH Up & Down on Amazon and use it to balance the PH for the type of soil you're using every time you water - usually between 6.0-7.0. If you're not balancing PH, chances are you're going to run into some serious issues at some point.
Edit: Also, de chlorinate your water if you're pulling directly from the tap. Let it sit for 24 hours before using to water the plants - it's as simple as that.
