I’d like to take a moment and make a mention that while a lot of you will think to bring big heavy leather hiking boots or some waterproof (like goretex) hiking shoes.
I highly recommend against this.
Both of these options once soaked, will remain soaked for days. Not to mention these do not breathe well and your foot will remain soaked and your skin will shrivel and eventually blister walking around in them all day.
If you want to wear shoes and not sandals, do yourself a favor and wear cheap or an older pair of athletic/running shoes that you do not care about. Or even water shoes such as these : DOUSSPRT Men's Water Shoes Quick Drying Sports Aqua Shoes https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MHKG963/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0ELbDbNMMAZS3 Or these Zhuanglin Men's Lightweight Aqua Water Shoes Beach Sneakers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CSML2GK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mFLbDbJQX5857
They will dry a lot quicker, and help your feet breathe. You do not want swamp foot from walking around all day or multiple days in a soaked shoe that just keeps the moisture in. Your feet will thank you in the end.
Folding hand fans are worth more than gold on a hot day, but super cheap to buy. Where I live, you can buy them at the dollar tree, but you can also buy them on amazon in packs: here’s an option. You can buy single ones, but I’d recommend getting a pack to have extras in case a few break. Or to pass out as gifts!
Pro tip: People generally appreciate it if you start fanning them in the crowd!
I've never had a bad time with these and they're almost a third of the price.
Edit: but yeah to echo what others have said, don't skip the earplugs. The music is still stupid loud and you can be comfortable right in front of the subs with them. If you value the experience of going to a music festival don't ruin it for future you by fucking up your ears.
If I run into you I'll give you one of these. I ordered a dozen a few years ago and have been waiting for the right moments to hand them out. Usually I just hand out my third eye dinos

These things are cheap af and are perfect little ash trays. They seal up too so you don't have to smell that stale cig stench. I bring em to every fest
Spray bottles are a god send to cool off especially on the really hot days.
Pro Tip: Do not spray people without asking!
Rather than bring a bunch of pedialyte, you can save space and $ by using a powder or tablet to turn a bottle of water into pedialyte. I like these tablets, but there are a bunch of other options.
Most pashminas aren’t super dyeable. Are you an experienced tie-dyer? If not, happy to help answer questions about fabrics and which dyes to use. But I’ll save that long thing if you already know.
Grateful Dyes sells rayon pashminas I like a lot. But they’re pretty thin and light.
These ones on Amazon also dye well with procion dyes, albeit a little pale: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SPLYLKC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_APJR2VZ510DAP0XWFW2J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The Amazon one is super cozy and cashmere. I’ve dyed a lot of them (20+) with success, so let me know if you want tips.
I've used these Cleaning Tabs that are specifically made for hydration packs and they worked super well. No weird taste after using them either.
No. Most will break in a storm from the wind.
Your only option for hammock at camp is a portable hammock stand or one of those car hammock things. Idk how much the car things cost but you can get the non car version for $50
If anyone is interested in how to best protect the trees from your hammock straps, Amazon has these:
They are cheap, and have little straps to hold your hammock straps on place for easy setup and so you don't lose them.
This looks pretty good to me. T storms possible, 30%. I'll take it. Looks pretty promising for a good weekend of weather. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/rothbury-mi/49452/daily-weather-forecast/2227685?day=6
Amazon has a lightning deal on hammocks currently - double size for $20. They look like they have excellent reviews, and come with everything you need. You can find them here
Hi! You're in for such an amazing time :) Last year I purchased a cheap solar powered battery/charger off amazon which I failed to test and didn't work...womp womp. This year I have this power bank and I highly recommend it: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-20100-Capacity-Technology/dp/B00X5RV14Y It can charge your phone 6-7 times.
Last year one of my crew got a glass handle of liquor in, but I think this was only because it was buried under beer. The website does say no liquor so I'd suggest trying to hide it. Curious if others have been able to get past security wit liquor as long as it's not in glass.
As far as what else to bring--you can never have too many wet wipes!!
Me too :) I love getting ninja'd by someone and finding the pin on me later.
The world could always use more clothes pin ninjas ;)
That’s completely acceptable and I’d do the same. Recommend reusable face gems to them, they come as a single sticker that you just stick to your face and peel off all in one. It also takes a lot less time to apply one of these than to glue a bunch of glitter to your face. You can get them on amazon for pretty cheap, it’s around $10-$12 or so for a pack of 10–just look up “reusable face gems.” Something like this is what I’m talking about.
As someone mentioned below, Birdhouse isn't exclusively dirtybird artists, and Claude has been running a podcast of the same name for over a year now. Definitely check them out here.
(Notable episodes, at least in regards to my favorites are: Mark Starr, Dateless, Matthew Anthony, and Marshall Applewhite, although they're all good and obviously each artist has their own style for their mix.)
Edit: he's pretty into it, however this document doesn't have sources for each artist listed.
You guys are overlooking the most important superset... Green Velvet plays right before Claude Vonstroke closes out saturday. They have announced that they will be touring together as Get Real in the future and premiered their duo at Ultra! Pray to the forest gods they do a b2b!!!

Okay so we probably could have guessed it, but the results are 27% YES and 73% NO. Of the Yes responses, 57% were female. Of the No responses, 88% were male. This survey is obviously biased because 75% of respondents were male. Intriguing though.
I think I might start lotioning my butt.
Additionally, if you want to know more about this, or are wondering what in the world is happening: https://tinychat.com/lsdryn2. Because we care about the issues.
Amazon has a ton... You can get a 10ft solar colored lights for $17 and a variety 3 pack for $45 - scroll down to see.

We wanted a new, better cooler but didn't want to spend Yeti money. Found this one on Amazon and got it last week. It's the "marine edition" so it has metal hinges instead of plastic, and all around seems a little better than the regular 5 day Coleman extreme that I've seen a lot. Also, no shitty little wheels to break.
*Showed up with little dent in it, but most stores in our area are selling the regular version of the same size for like $80+, so I'm happy with it.
The beginning of this album has some good pics of the camping area. I didn't really take detailed shots of our camp though. There is a video in there somewhere that would show you a good representation of camp size as well. https://www.flickr.com/photos/78017011@N05/sets/72157634432864227/
You can make your payment through PayPal for their Purchase Protection. Also, it may be over kill but you could actually write up a simple contract and bill of sale and have the seller sign it.
I find this site nice to use whenever you want peace of mind on price items from Amazon. http://camelcamelcamel.com/ Looks like both the 10,000 and 20,000 mah models are pretty good deals right now.
Hey, that's me on the right! It started as a dirt circle that people were dancing around. Then someone put a duck in the very center and it became a shrine as people added more ducks. Then people kept adding stuff, kandi bracelets, cigarettes, dollar bills, a bunch of random, cool stuff. I think like 50 or so people put something in it throughout the whole set. Great energy there, such a fun set.
Edit: Here's a photo I took of it towards the end of the set
I believe they are using an extendable flag pole. Here's an amazon link. You can find more by searching "Extendable Flag Pole" Flagpole To Go 17-Foot Portable Flagpole
Tons of cheap, good straps on Amazon, like these. But if the ropes are long enough, I wouldn't worry about it. In my opinion all the hoopla about ropes damaging trees is only if you are doing some crazy shit over a long period of time. I've been hammocking for years, used plenty of ropes, and never once damaged a tree. Definitely not any more so than with a strap.
ANJAYLIA LED Fairy String Lights, 10Ft/3M 30leds Firefly String Lights Garden Home Party Wedding Festival Decorations Crafting Battery Operated Lights(Warm White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EWBC55A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_0n55BbZA6J50Y
I've done something similiar for EF and Hula. I can't post a video as a reply (maybe. Idk reddit like that) But I used these lights linked on the outside with fake plants and flowers for an over grown look.
My amazon order history wont let me go back to the lights i used for the interior but they're the water proof strip lights that have adhesive on the back. They can change colors and it's more a Neon glow. They fit nicely around the interior of the helmet and create a dope ambient glow.
Edit: * Regardless of the adhesive you'll want to use super glue to really secure the lights and the battery pack.
Commented this on a post about a week ago, but thought it was also fitting here too. I found a pretty cheap ENO hammock on Amazon for only $27.99! Seemed like a pretty good discount if you’re in need of a hammock for the holidays or Forest.
Sadly this isn't possible with Reddit CSS and HTML unless we wrote scripts to update the images which would be a large amount of work.
Here is this for you though. Hope that helps a bit.
I was stressing about the same thing, but honestly if you look at the amount of rain they've got over the past few weeks it hasn't cumulatively THAT much..
https://www.wunderground.com/history/monthly/us/mi/rothbury/KMKG/date/2019-6?cm_ven=localwx_history
It's been consistent, but it looks like the most in one day it was an inch on June 9th, otherwise it's been rainy but only a fraction of an inch per day..
..this is what I'm telling myself at least hahaha.
I freaking love that guy! Hope he gets press passes this year too. So many good shots.
Edit: here is his album of 2013 electric forest pics https://www.flickr.com/photos/punlive/sets/72157634458237840

Soundcloud is my favorite but Mixcloud is pretty cool too. On most DJ sets it provides the individual track listings
Edit: The Boiler Room sessions on youtube are pretty good and they've had a ton of artists. DanceTrippin and Be@tv have a bunch of stuff too
Yep! However Snapchat is VERY strict on their rules and acceptance criteria.
https://www.snapchat.com/geofilters
That explains everything and lets you submit, just be sure to read though what's allowed and what isn't and to follow the sizing/bleed areas and you'll be good.
I have two non eno hammocks and they are both great. The one I'll recommend I got on amazon for 30 dollars and it came with straps and clips! The clips are a little small but the straps are great. Can hold 500 pounds. Plus it was the equivalent to the double nest. And it has great reviews and a great warranty. All in all, I say forgo ENO and get something just as good for less money.

I got this pashmina from Amazon and I am OBSESSED with it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AMLPUQK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am definitely getting another one soon!!
I buy the SOL blankets because they're only reflective on one side (so they don't reflect heat back in, just away), and they don't crinkle or tear the way regular mylar does. They fold up nice and compact so you can keep reusing them, I've had the same ones for a couple years. I keep them on my tent with binder clips. Two of these cover the entire top of my 4-person dome tent. The amazon description doesn't mention shade, but the packaging does specifically mention that as one of it's uses.
Ideally to stay cool, you want something that allows airflow between the shade and the tent, like a canopy... but for someone like me that often travels to fests, that often isn't possible, so this is kind of the next best thing since it's nice and compact. If you can bring a canopy, that's definitely better but... not always possible.
Just the shade really helps, it's like you can feel the temperature drop when the sun goes away. I've found that between this and a tent fan, I can get some sleep through the day. It's not a miracle worker by any means, but it's a big improvement over a sunny tent. I can literally put my hand up to the wall inside my tent and feel the heat radiating in where it's uncovered, while it's cool from under the shade.
Can't solve the air temperature, though.
I wanna invest in a pair of rainboots this year I think. Problem is, are there any comfortable ones? I have my hiking boots, but they're not exactly waterproof as much as water resistant, which has served me perfectly well prior years, but if we get anything like last year, I think rain boots are more appropriate.
Suggestions for comfy rain boots? Any success with insoles? Or should I just dish out for a better pair of hiking boots that'll withstand the elements?
Edit: I buckled down and got these hiking boots >.< I had some amazon rewards to spare.
For anyone else looking to get some decent boots, these get great reviews. Not 100% waterproof, but reviews seem to be encouraging.
I don't know exactly what they use, but I have done this in my backyard.
I bought waterproof LED flood lights on Amazon and mounted them high enough in each tree and pointed up, so that no part of the reflector can be seen from anywhere in the yard. I bought the 20 watt versions, and they seem to be just right for me, but they have 10-20-30-40-50+ watt versions. EDIT: the ones I bought are capable of all colors, so look carefully at all the Amazon listings before buying. Some are just RGB.
It took some trial and error up on the ladder at night, but it looks awesome!! Forest adds some wire mesh to the trees in some cases, which provides more texture for the light, but this is more necessary because they're tall skinny pine trees. On regular trees that most people have in their yards, like a big maple, it comes out really well.
The lights I have (and most of the similar ones available on Amazon) revert back to the setting they were previously on when power was disconnected. So I set all mine to slowly cycle through all colors, and then unplugged them and connected them all to a power strip with a switch. Then when I hit the switch, they all power up at the same time, and the color cycling is all coordinated between all of the lights. Super cool.
I'm not going to be able to go this year, but I've already started my gifts for next year. I'm going to make hemp keychains, lots of hemp keychains. This is the very first one. Quality/consistency is improving slightly with each one, and each one will be different from the others. I have 3 different colors of hemp and gobs of bead, plus more coming from Amazon (including these which I think are perfect for EF.) I just started making them on Saturday or Sunday and only have a dozen so far, but at least I've got plenty of time to make more.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ITVSSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_FaDYCbBMY7BRN
That's the shower tent I have. It's super sturdy and can hold a 5 gallon bag no problem. The bladder that comes with this tent sucks. Intex solar bags are about $7 each on Amazon and much higher quality so we ordered 8 of them so we have 40 gallons of usable hot water, not only for showering, but also for washing dishes and whatnot. There is nothing like having the freedom to shower at a camping festival.
I doubt it, but it’s worth a look! If you have amazon prime, you can get it by tomorrow! Here is a link so you know what to look for
Not sure the brand but they're on Amazon for cheap.
I bought this sleeping pad for last years forest and it did not deflate all weekend! It has a built in foot pump that you step on to blow it up and was maybe 4 inches thick! Way easier than an air mattress and felt the same
Got it on Amazon, good deal too. Biggest one is only $28. It's decent material too, not the best but well worth $28 for just hanging it up on the ceiling. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BNBCYXT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Last year I was there for the 2nd weekend heat & we couldn’t really escape the heat of the tent. But when the sun came up my wife & I just got out of the tent & put up our UV beach umbrella similar to this one & we just napped underneath the umbrella outside of the tent. Out of the tent heat, out of the sun, plus had a nice breeze.
If you're looking for something for just yourself that's packable and doesn't take up much space, I'd HIGHLY recommend this bad boy. I bought it for flying down to Okeechobee in 2020 and have used it on every camping trip and festival I've been to since (and I camp a LOT)! It's easy to inflate and doesn't require a pump or plug, and I recommended it to a friend for Okee this year as well and she was in heaven. I have scoliosis and a chronic pain disorder and I have never been uncomfortable sleeping on this thing. It's worth it!
I have this one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-16-x-16-Instant-Cabin-Tent-Sleeps-12/34109034 Can't recommend it enough... This tent is amazing. Has 3 separate rooms and each room fits a queen mattress with some room to spare. Also, the fact that is an "instant tent" makes setting it up so much easier. I can set it up with a friend in literally 1 minute.
I also just came across this insane deal from Walmart that looks amazing.. Also an "instant tent" https://www.walmart.com/co/Ozark-Trail-12-Person-3-Room-Instant-Cabin-Tent-with-2-Airbeds-and-2-Chairs-Value-Bundle/53527968
Hope this helps! :)
My group bought http://www.costco.com/Caravan-10%E2%80%99x10%E2%80%99-Steel-Frame-Instant-Canopy.product.10050031.html in 2014 and the price has paid off. It has weathered Paradiso at the Gorge in WA twice, which those high winds are canopy killers.
These are really sweet. You have to get one of the higher tier ones now to get them before EF...look at estimated ship dates listed. Still, $120 for a sick hammock, with choice of design, and nice straps, isn't that bad. Most hammocks you buy come with shit straps and you spend another $20 on those anyway. And I haven't seen any other ones that look as awesome.
it's served me well for 3 forests. Getting my gf and I smaller separate tents this year and putting the Coleman lighted canopy over top of them. They just make such great shit.
AirBnB is probably your best bet. ~325.00 for the weekend.
Damn dude, this vid in particular is absolutely spectacular. Thanks for sharing!
I use these templates my girl found on tumblr lol I also you this guide before I go to sleep after my foam roll. Lastly, try to be more conscious about your posture throughout the day. Shoulders back, pulling the hips forward, and neck postion. Little simple things :)
Here's one of my favorite websites for planning out roadtrips. Roadtripper. You can add top tourist destinations or things to see as stops, etc.
I added it to the wiki for those who want to reference it later on.
Depends on how fancy you want to get. Check out pixlr if you don't have access to Photoshop. You can use Paint, too! If you google "basic photo editing" you should find some tutorials. Here's one for Pixlr , for example. We're using Photoshop because ours is digitally painted, but that's overkill unless you're making something crazy complicated. Keep in mind that the resolution has to be 1000x1000 or greater according to the University Commons website. The tutorials explain what that means and how to resize your image if you need to. I would guess that a lot of the dudes on here have used Pixlr to make theirs, but like I said, you can use Paint, too. Pixlr just has more options.
http://everynoise.com/engenremap.html This website is one of the coolest things I've stumbled upon in a while. They've used data to put together an extensive "map" of most music genres, some artists in those genres, even music by country or city. The levels to this site are crazy but most useful are that you can find similar genres or artists to ones you like. It's also just cool to find out where a certain genre or artist lies on the musical spectrum from Deep Tech House to Classical Piano. As someone fascinated by both data science and music, this is like Christmas.
Happy listening and happy Forest!
this Is the first listing when you search up mushroom night light. A 2 pack for $10 versus 1 for $14 on the website you listed. I bought a two pack of yellow ones over a year ago and they are still working fine.
I find the average person has or knows somebody who has amazon prime, so I did not include shipping. But there are multiple with $3-$5 shipping
The one we have is metal, but I think they have plastic ones too. Ours is kind of like this: Goliath Welded Steel Artificial Christmas Tree Stand for Artificial Trees 4 to 8 Foot https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07V49T5DR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YS0DNC8PJ74YJFG0N0RH
I was just about to ask a similar question... So kudos for that. After seeing the answers we just bought another car pass (we have 4 people (2 cars now).
We got this tent on Amazon during the deal of the day for like $80, but it's big:
Coleman Red Canyon 8 Person Tent, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J955G10/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_dBWFwbBBW9QJR
We will also have a 10x10 or 12x12 shade tent.
With two cars, I'm hoping that space will be left over for our pop up shitter/shower too.
I always thought a Lytro would be an awesome camera to have at the Forest. I'll try and explain this succinctly, but it doesn't require any focusing, you truly just point and click. Later, when you download them to your computer, you can then click on any part of the photo and it will be brought into focus. They're gorgeous, and I'm always jealous of the photos.
I just bought a CamelBak Dart because my main CamelBak was a bit bulky for a festival. $52 on Amazon.
CamelBak (and some other brands) are known for quality. Don't be afraid to spend a bit more to have it last a life time. Vibedration has many cool hydration packs for cheap (under $50) but reviews show they will only last a few events before breaking down.
I just picked up this one from amazon and it's perfect. Not too heavy, durable, collapses down pretty good, and super easy to attach a flag or two
Came here to say this. Having actual trash/recycle bins instead of tying the bags onto your canopy is suprisingly convenient. Makes clean up much easier and honestly more fun... KOBE! You can get them on Amazon for $10-20: LINK
We did a totem like this! We had a big viewport in the middle. Someone stole the totem before we could use it, though and my heart is still broken over it.
The stuff you're looking for is called "diffraction grating film". You can get it by the roll on ebay or amazon. More "lines" is better (we got the 12500 line stuff and it was pretty good), and you want dual axis. I think I paid about $16 for a 5 foot roll.
EDIT: Here is a 5 foot roll of it on amazon for just under $20 link.
You could try something like this little guy
Its a folding/collapsible step stool. Here's one on amazon
Good Luck!
Like somebody else said, there's a big difference between wanting a tent for three actual people or a tent that supposedly fits "three" people according to the package. I'm not sure which one you're interested in.
I researched tents for way too long last year by looking at Amazon reviews and watching Youtube videos. I feel like Amazon reviews give me an idea of how items really perform and Youtube videos let me see how items really look. I decided I wanted something by the Kelty brand, and I bought the Kelty Salida 4. The 4 means it's a tent for "4" people (more like 3 people max in real life). I've used it for two festivals so far, and I'm really happy with it.
They’re actually solar power . My MIL gave them to us, so not sure on reviews for these particular brand but we tested them out and they were pretty good :). But there’s a whole bunch of different kinds if you search on amazon.
not that I've ever seen. I'd recommend one off of amazon. this is the one I use and it sets up super easy.
If you have or know someone with Amazon prime check these out. Pretty good deal for nine of them and there's an assortment of designs and colors to choose from.
lychee EL Wire Neon Glowing... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013FZHD06?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
The nine feet is like exactly the size you need to wrap around my pack! You can also cut the wire too size! Here’s some tips, figure out where you’re gonna wire the power source considering that you’ll have a bag of water inside. Then I bought a pack of sewing needles at a craft store with some black thread. I pre punched the holes where I sewed the wire on with a pin (one you’d wear on your shirt or wherever like a circular pin) then just wrap it up a bunch of times.
On amazon there are tons of different wires you can get, I know for instance you can get a battery powered device that has a splitter for 5 different wires you can get. I just didn’t get that because I’m assuming the batteries go out quicker. Anyway if you have any questions I can probably help you out.
This was a game changer our 2nd year. I usually rinse off over grass to get the dirt off and then I stand in a dish washing bucket for the rest to get more use out of my water. My husband and both showered daily with this all on one charge.

Highly recommend "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl (sorry for no link, on mobile).
I'm only halfway through, but it's the story of a German Jewish PoW in a concentration camp. The underlying message is that humans can find happiness anywhere, even in these camps, with the right mindset - and that the rare people who could do this were the ones most likely to survive.
Highly highly recommended.

How big was your shade cloth?! I was just reading about this in another post and may order one (we're in enchanted so we have AC, but it still gets toasty if the sun is out) - was it one of the reflective shade cloths like this?
There's airbnb available.
Also, not necessarily a camping item, but I got these cooling towels and they worked SO WELL to cool off during the day.
Pro tip- when you drain your cooler, use that ice cold water to drench these towels and then apply to face and neck and you’ll be feeling so much better.

I’m bringing this one! It’ll make me giggle every time I pass it so I’m pumped
A few years back I read The Genesis Generation by Lorenzo Haggerty at EF. Folks might know him as the host of the podcast, The Psychedelic Salon. I thought the book was kind of amateur, but it was definitely appropriate for the forest vibe.
If you need a recommendation for this year: All About Love by bell hooks. Even small doses will bring you light.

I use this one! I’ve used the non speedy version as well and it’s slightly more nourishing but takes longer to rinse off so I use this one. It’s cheap, a little goes a long way, and it takes off everything! I sweat a lot and use a lot of sunscreen so it’s a must for me.
YES! Please please please wear them - you are saving your hearing and your ability to enjoy concerts in the future by wearing them! I personally have the Eargasm ones, which I love and have had for years (and look they even have a fancy Electric Forest pair too!). I've also heard lots of people recommend Etymotic!
Get these. A friend brought a whole bag of these and its insane how much fun everyone had. They’re basically tiny balls of light and they’re fun to play with while you’re dancing. Also looks kinda trippy cus it looks like you’re holding light in your hands (which you basically are).

For EDC Vegas we use S-binder clips. It’s a small clip that we attached to both zippers to keep the zippers from moving independently and being opened unless you move a little plastic bar out of the way. Absolutely worth the money.
Good looking out! I use this phone theft cord and clip one end to my backpack. My boyfriend clips one end to his shorts and keeps his phone in his pocket.
