My understanding is that it’s a Mastodon instance, which is a more decentralized, federated social media platform. (How social media should run, IMO). People found the test instance and started filling it with shitposts. People also demanded to see the source code, because it’s FOSS. The site was then taken offline.
Regarding the source code thing, some people asked to see the source code for the Mastodon instance they broke into, as Mastodon has a Free Open Source Software license. afaik you only need to provide source code to your end users. Since the people on the site seemingly had to get around a test page, they might not be considered actual intended users with rights to the software, but merely as intruders who violated the CFAA. Once this site is publicly available, they will need to make any source code modifications public too. Until then, unless there’s something I’m not aware of, everything is 100% just partisan noisemaking.
> a web site and social media don’t compete and gab and Parler were both destroyed by big tech.
All social media is is a website that allows users to communicate with each other. They're just more interactive blogs. And no parler and Gab were not destroyed. AWS booted Parler off its servers but they found a new host and are now back up, and Apple has even said they can return to the app store soon. Gab was never even taken down as far as I know.
If the government actually did bail out big tech as they did the banks then you might have a point, but that hasn't happened.
Seems like some people went to https://phuks.co now instead.
There was a quote from a TED talk (by Jaron Lanier) on social media platforms about this not being sustainable.
>"We cannot have a society in which if two people with to communicate, the only way that can happen is if it's financed by a third person who wishes to manipulate them"
The kumbaya stuff that the left spews is inherently more advertiser friendly so any advertiser funded social media platform is inherently financially motivated to skew to the left of the political spectrum.
Well congress only has the right to impeach him for committing a crime:
The Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach and remove "The President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States" upon a determination that such officers have engaged in treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.
Also here’s his exact tweets from January 6th (he did not call for violence):
https://gab.com/realdonaldtrump
Congress actually shouldn’t impeach him unless he’s done something illegal according to the law.
Given these facts; what is your opinion on the charge that trump incited violence and anything he said is tantamount to a crime and not protected as free speech?
a platform that is decentralized and tries it's best to guarantee free speech is https://getaether.net/ , it uses a democratic system to elect mods and all data is stored locally on users devices making it hard to ban content as there is no centralized source.
Many people don't want to download anything so another platform that promises freespeech and so far is doing a good job of it is gab. Trump is on gab. Many right people have joined it first as they were the first to be banned on many platforms but now it has a variety of opinions and many communities to pick from. It's a blend of twitter & reddit. I visit that more frequently. I haven't tried getaether yet but it looks very promising and hope something like that becomes mainstream.
There is also tor network. Those discussions are extremely good and has very good stuff. The major downside is that finding communities is extremely hard, loading pages is very slow.
It's a matter of how the platform presents itself.
When you grow your site claiming to be the "free speech wing of the free speech party" as in twitter's case or as "a bastion of free speech on the internet" in reddit's case I find it incredibly disingenuous and destructive for the companies herding those communities to unilaterally decide to abandon those prior expressed principles.
They absolutely have the legal and even IMO moral right to do this with their property. But it's a very dickish move deserving of criticism and scorn.
If the internet is viewed as some parallel (cyber)space then its current status is that of widespread feudalism.
Social network contributors till the fields of corporate owners to attempt to monetize their output.
It's a much more voluntary situation than serfs who must trade their labor to eat or those who are born into taxation; but it still bears similarities and those similarities grow stronger when those who control an online community change its ethos via top down mandate on a community that has established itself under different principles. The network effects of the community that grew under the former freedom chain those users to the restrictive mandates of the owners due to an aversion to being separated from the content and peers they have befriended in the past.
I think the model has to change to give end users more authoritative ownership of not only the content; but the network itself.
Reddit had the right idea at one time:
https://thenextweb.com/insider/2015/07/06/reddit-came-close-to-becoming-decentralized-last-year/
Forcefully controlling platforms others own through government mandate is not something I can support; we have to build a solution that is more fully owned by the participants to break out of this feudalistic model.

I would like to publish the text somewhere but don't have enought connections :)
Thanks
You cite Wikipedia as source which uses the information that is passed on through the left wing media which wants to keep it monopoly. I think instead of citing from this circle of misinformation one should always go to the source directly. Here I have for you the important part of the community guidelines Threats and Terrorism:
Users are prohibited from calling for the acts of violence against others, promoting or engaging in self-harm, and/or acts of cruelty, threatening language or behaviour that clearly, directly and incontrovertibly infringes on the safety of another user or individual(s). We may also report the user(s) to local and/or federal law enforcement, as per the advice of our legal counsel.
Gab follows the U.S. Department of State’s definitions of terrorism and list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s proscribed list of terrorist groups, organizations and/or individuals.
And here the entire guidelines : https://gab.com/about/guidelines
Download freech's beta from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fauth
An app for free speech and activism. "freech" is an app designed like a blockchain network making it a decentralized mass media which cannot be influenced or regulated and works hyperlocally and beyond international borders. Start freeching for a future you dreamt which has a true free press , decentralized and democratic form of mass media , empowering people with free speech and freedom of expression.
May it be Palestine or Israel , India or Pakistan Iraq or Syria , Sudan or Central African Republic . You are not here to stand out but to stand for !. " START FREECHING ". #freespeech #freedomofspeech #freedomofthepress #freedomofmovement #socialactivism #democracy #syria #palestine #iraq #sudan #centralafricanrepublic
Amazon also sells books that support harmful left-wing ideas with misinformation. It's weird that they don't ban them. (Admittedly, some serious left-wing politicians actually believe that bullshit... which, sadly, makes them comparable to neo-Nazi ideas. Man, politics has dive-bombed in recent years.)
This is true, though not new, it is from 2021. I actually looked it up and it seems this 1978 book was also removed from goodreads (which Amazon owns) and there is no easy way to acquire it. When you look it up on Amazon you actually get a fake satire on that book.
In recent months I've seen the name of an organization called "PEN America" in many liberal media articles about "conservative censorship of books" (which actually a legitimate debate about curriculum for children, not book banning for general population), so I've searched in their website for this book but there is only one passing mention.
>childrens' book
Are they children's books? If you look up some of those books you'll find even Amazon and other book sellers rate them as 18 and over.
Such as Gender Queer: A Memoir which was removed from school library due to the graphic sexual depictions of pegging etc. which is clearly not appropriate thing for 9 year olds to read.
When parents complain at school board they've been banned from reading from that book as apparently its inappropriate even for adults to here but fine for kids to read.
Matt Walsh did. You're fine with this book being a school library then? I wouldn't have to worry at all about angry leftist mobs if a public school were to read this to children?
So, my understanding of the "backfire" argument is not so much that it will create martyrs, though that may sometimes be the case; it's more that censorship-type laws may be enforced unequally or used to further marginalize already marginalized groups, depending on who is in power. Think of things like community or individual movements to reclaim certain demeaning words.
For a real world example, check out Simon Tam (an Asian American) and his fight to trademark his own band name "The Slants." He ended up in the Supreme Court because USTO wouldn't let him trademark because it was considered a demeaning name for an Asian American group, despite the fact that they chose the name for themselves. (He wrote an interesting book about his experiences too.)
I think Nadine Strossen (former president of ACLU) has a great take on the nuance advocating for free speech and why censorship is dangerous for civil rights in her semi-recent book if you're interested in checking it out.
OP, The “gay” question is less than settled scientificly. I would suggest the excellent book by Douglass Murray: The Madness of crowds.

We can always listen to whomever talking about whatever proclivity you want however kids need to protected from grooming.

That certainly it can make one pause about the same message in school.

Quote from article.
>So to answer your question, no, a business shouldn't be allowed to deny service based on race (legally because it's a crime to discriminate on the basis of race under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and ethically because you'd have to be a complete cunt to do it). To make the exception from religious grounds would be quite difficult to prove, since to my knowledge, the bible makes no mention of different races and how you should interact with them.
Then why is it ok for them to do it to lgbtq people?
Also people have been using the bible to justify racism for forever. And peole tried to use the bible to suport in while litigating the civil rights act

This isn't very practical but it is a cool idea, more realistically you could try using https://ipfs.io
The only reason this works is because none of the dictators caught onto it yet, it would be as easy to ban a specific mc server as it is to ban a website, actually you do the exact same thing.

There is no need for the kind of system you imagine - automated systems of moderation that work based on identifiable factors are very well-known and prevalent. See for example a 27-factor automated spam scorer: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/spam-score
A system that removes communications and nobody knows why is absolutely justifiable to force into nonexistence, when alternatives where people will know why exist.
I understand people get fired all the time. Publishers, broadcasters, hosts, presenters, actors and celebrities all voluntarily sign contracts with exit clauses (or whatever its called) that stipulate conditions for annulling deals. Vandalizing things, abusing children and threatening people are are wrong or criminal. Few people publicly support that. Its not a cultural thing.
I am not buying your victimhood jibber jabber. I don't want to understand your lies. Forget it. You will have to build a bridge, like others have to build a bridge and get over "big tech censorship". I'm not worried about it at all concern troll.
Oh no! What happened to Plants War! It used to be on Google Play. It got cancelled even though Gamestop said it "is simply an amazing strategic war game". I bet its those greenies who don't want people fighting plants. Wah wah wah.

Use Brave and/or Tor for Internet access, Use Vidme for videos and Pjuu for social networking (Reddit's ok too) Use Duckduckgo,Qwant for search and Telegram,Signal,Bitmessage for messsaging and many others, https://www.privacytools.io is a good site to find information about privacy and non google services.

I don't know how it works. Maybe something like torrenting as it is distributed too. by default everything past 6months is deleted. checkout https://getaether.net/ I think this is the direction we need to go. No 1 entity will have the power to censor content.

And the most hilarious thing, is once again these TDS demented idiots crapped on him for saying it was going to hit Alabama ... and the Coast Guard tweeted that Alabama should prepare itself. Did any of these idiots retract themselves? Of course they didn't because that's all they would be doing 24/7.
Yes indeed, one could host a peertube instance to mirror his/her videos or just pick a peertube instance without any storage limits https://joinpeertube.org/instances#instances-list
>Platforms need to be decentralized and individuals need to be given powerful tools to moderate and filter things themselves by their OWN hand and not by the whim of some political deviant whispering in the ears of some Youtube director.
Well, ok but what, where are the alternatives?
Is this the kind of thing you're taling about?
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
People need to start hosting their own stuff - all kinds of stuff - or increasingly be at the mercy of purposeful or incidental censorship by the mega-providers.
From what I understand Youtube Vanced has pretty much the same level of tracking as the regular YT app, just without ads.
From what I've heard, Newpipe is a better alternative, although I haven't tried it yet.
This is /r/freespeech isn't it?
That said, I think that based on your history, you would be better off on Gab.com.
It's a safe space for hard-right learning ideologies and overt racist attitudes.
There are P2P and federated social media solutions that let people take back some control over the public square.
Mastodon is similar to Twitter, and is federated. Anyone can host an instance and share content between instances. A host can only censor his instance, not the whole network, so pick a host that is close to your views.
LBRY is a completely decentralized, P2P replacement for YouTube. The most popular front end for it is Odysee. No centralized group can censor the whole network, videos are stored and shared completely P2P. If a front end like Odysee starts censoring people, you could simply make a new one and still have access to all the videos on the existing LBRY network.
Signing a petition won't accomplish anything, but taking matters into your own hands will. There are decentralized, censorship-resistant social media alternatives that more people should be using. Mastodon is a decentralized social media replacement that works great. Instead of leaving Facebook in charge and just asking them nicely not to abuse their control, just leave and take that power away from them directly.
Well I'm no expert, but there are several unhappy physicists.
Mill is the obvious one, but if you want something more recent and updated I would recommend The Coddling of the American Mind (<em>https://www.amazon.com/Coddling-American-Mind-Intentions-Generation/dp/0735224919/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw49qKBhAoEiwAHQVTowLolsdqrdUoaQGgNNBarkDE2JZHzyuTrT9tovBAROABXwOCWxqhcRoCAaEQAvD_BwE&hvadid=241619722243&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1024339&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=1394780283872128658&hvtargid=kwd-280547986705&hydadcr=22569_10355199&keywords=coddling+of+the+american+mind&qid=1633118837&sr=8-1</em>).
The authors show, among other things, that safe spaces protecting people from offensive views and hateful speech actually increase anxiety and depression for those supposedly being protected. It's comparable to the immune system: if you don't expose it to pathogens, it actually becomes weaker.
Though I doubt it by the concepts you’ve used, by the links you’ve shared and by your OP, if you are even remotely for your right to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness, then I’d recommend checking again from sources that are pro-rights. Check who was in the right at the start of the war, who has been on the side of rights throughout the war, who stands up for rights the most within the region etc. Israel is the only country within the region that has even somewhat a respect for individual rights. If they had more of a respect for rights, they’d have defeated the Palestinians decades ago, crushed the PLO, possibly crushed some of the anti-rights states they are surrounded by for the threat they pose to the rights of Israelis and possibly expanded their borders as necessary to secure the rights of Israelis.
Edit: You could check out https://www.amazon.com/What-Justice-Demands-Israeli-Palestinian-Conflict/dp/168261798X/ref=nodl_
>The rights in the Bill of rights don’t apply to corporations, and shouldn’t.
Corporations are considered "artificial persons" and have the rights of the Constitution. This enables them to do things such as engage in contracts. Corporations are also viewed as collections of people, each of which has Constitutional Rights. There is a book titled "We, the Corporations: How American Businesses Won the Civil Rights" that looks at the history of corporate rights. Trying to take rights away from corporations would be a violation of the 14th Amendment.
https://www.amazon.com/We-Corporations-American-Businesses-Rights/dp/0871407124

> A corporation’s freedoms should be exceptionally restrained.
They will not be for the above-stated reason.
> Once upon a time strong worker organization and protections were built to prevent frivolous firing, of which “over social media posts” I consider highly frivolous.
There is a debate that could be had there. If you look back about 30 or 40 years, when someone in the media did something that a group of people did not like, those people would sometimes organize and complain to the sponsors of the media to withdraw support from the person unless they changed their position and issued an apology. Until then, a boycott may be threatened. I don't see this as being much different.
Because of the Internet, the potential for a typical person to say something to a wide audience has increased, but the response is about the same. The individuals' sponsors would be their employers. Those employers can then find themselves targeted by a boycott or find that their business partners no longer want to do business with them. The simple solution for that employer is to separate from the person.
Unfortunately for something as large as the holocaust there is no simple evidence that easily displays the scale and scope of the atrocity. The traditional number of 6 million dead first came from a high ranking SS officer who claimed to have heard that number from Adolf Eichman (the architect of the final solution) in late 1944. Virtually every study done since has confirmed that number within a million or so dead. There are many ways to reconstruct the number of dead but unfortunately most of them are complicated reconstructions. Fortunately the Nazis were very good record keepers which is why estimates are very consistent. Estimates of death counts for similar atrocities often range in orders of magnitude.
If you are looking for a small-scale representation of the atrocities committed I would recommend the book Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland which is a detailed account of one police battalion that participated in the executions of about 80,000 Jews in Poland. The book's primary source is a war crimes investigation conducted by West Germany in the 1960's which included documents directly from the units actions as well as testimony from members of the battalion.
Assange did the simple thing and told the truth, nothing the left hates more than that.
LOL. Trump killed everyone with covid? Does it fucking hurt to be that fucking stupid? Seriously? Did Trump send sick old people back into eldercare facilities? How many people has the Swedish government killed?
How many people did 0bamma kill with ISIS and swine flu? How many more will biden kill in Syria? What are your feeling about trump and Russia and Kavanaugh as a HS kids - never mind, we already know what you've been told to think.
I can tell you're a deep thinker, so quit being a partisan dolt. It is completely obvious how fucking programmed you are.
> Fuck him, and fuck his supporters. Trump's and Assange's.
You have been conditioned just like the Germans were conditioned to act as Nazis. Read Ordinary Man, you need to educate yourself, fast.
I was just banned from /r/jews. What was I doing there, you might ask. I am ethnically jewish. What I was doing there was trying to engage in a discussion with other jews about the problems of Talmudic Judaism. But instead I was banned. These judaists think that censorship will protect them, but the opposite is true. In my case, they just made an open enemy. I will do everything in my power to spread the message of how evil Judaism is. Being a jew myself, I am in a unique position to do this. Idiot judaists call me an anti-semite, but this is completely absurd and no one will take this seriously. In a thread like this one, judaists will down-vote the thread but they will never engage me in public debate because they know that they would lose. I have attended Orthodox synagogue and I understand Judaism. I am not like an ignorant Nazi, I know what I am talking about. For more:
